Hello...

Just checking in tonight. We have been fairly busy. And now, I'm upset b/c Gray's Anatomy isn't coming on tonight.

By the looks of the pictures posted tonight, this cruise may be very exciting for us newbies!!! I tell you I found this thread, I never dreamed it was this active..I guess all of your past Nana's have gotten to be really good friends. It hard for us newbies to keep up...:goodvibes

Finally booked our room for pre-cruise. I splurged for BC Concierge but I may chicken out and change it before we get there. :rotfl2: We loved concierge when we got upgraded on Disney at GF in May. So with only 2 days/nights I thought now was a decent time to try it again without it being a weeklong cost.

Have a good night all. I'm watching Pitt stink up the joint already. Down 7-0 early and doing nothing. Oh well. Not like I'm surprised.

I changed our pre-cruise stay from the Caribbean Beach to the Beach Club also. You know, I didn't even ask what kind of room that we got. She just told me that it was available, and I said book it. I assume it's a standard room. I don't think we'll be in it much, so it doesn't really make a lot of difference. Of course, I would love to try the conceirge too

I just couldn't bring myself to watch the debate. The responsible part of me felt obligated to watch but I just couldn't do it. It's bad enough that we'll have to relive the whole debate in the media tomorrow!

Ok - we should have a meet at Beach Club or Boardwalk pre-cruise. Maybe the pool/bar area?? I'm meeting my college room mate and her family on Sunday before the cruise. She lives in Rochester so I don't see her that often. All other days or evenings are good!

Anyone coming back after the cruise? We come back to WDW until Monday. I didn't want to miss MVMCP :santa:

I studied the Cruisemate list today, Trying to get to know everyone, it's a lot of folks.

What does everyone do for work? I work at a chemical plant, I'm an Environmental Specialist and DH has two insurance agencies.

This took a while because I had to look on my DH's business card for his title, because if I ask him one more time I think he will write it on me :rotfl:

So anyway...

DH is Director of U.S. Services for a large corporation who manufactures business supplies and...
I was a surgical coordinator for many years until I joined lia sophia jewelry and became a manager and that afforded me to quit my job, by the way, this is first time I haven't worked full time in 31 years of marriage. :cheer2: :yay:
Now I work part time hours with full time pay. and yes I WILL have all coordinating jewelry to match my outfits on the ship and yes, you all can borrow some.

We went to a lia sophia meeting in May at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square and when we checked in we asked for a view of Times Square, the lady said oh rooms that have a view are $70 more, I said we are here with lia sophia jewelry, do you like jewelry? I said when I unpack I'll bring you down a piece of jewelry just because I think you are nice, she said you are in room xxxx, enjoy your view.   My friend and I got back to our room about 1 am and we opened the curtains and turned our chairs around and people watched and the street was still crowded! Ah maybe I'll cater it, we'll see. DD will want me to cook, she loves the holidays. Funny she loves holidays and traditions and I have no problem doing without them. I always ask them if we can cruise for Christmas. They always say NO!

But I've been nice, I let them bring the Christmas tree out of the basement for 2 years now, When they were younger I always had the tree in the house but when they got older it went in the basement, but that is it, I don't want all that other crap all over my house, then I have to put it all away and put everything back in its place. Ughhhh That is why more people have heart attacks around Christmas, it is because of the stress.

Yep, I totally agree with you.....when my kids were babies and small I loved the holidays....and decorating and the whole bit...not so much anymore. When they got older high school and college, all they did was complain because I made them help me put everything up.....then I would get mad, because they didnt have the "holiday spirit".....but since I went on this cruise 2 years ago, when we got back I just put up the tree and just a few decorations and guess what I really enjoyed that a lot more. I'm VERY curious to see it at another resort. GF was outstanding. I figure since it is going to be SO crowded at the parks, it'd be great to have a place to get away. The concierge lounge seems like a good place to do that.

Actually its more like 8 times....maybe more I'm loosing track. :lmao:

We're stuck with Marriott's Horizon's now. I booked it through a II flex change and only had 24 hours to cancel.........my 24 hours expired yesterday at 11am. :rotfl:

I think it will work out better for us as its a 2br unit that sleeps 8 and is 1 mile from Discover Cove and Sea World which is where we'll be spending all our time before we head out for Port Canaveral. :thumbsup2

Plus since it was a flex change I didn't have to pay for it. :woohoo: :woohoo:

I think it was Gailyn--we have decided to stay two more days after the cruise and go to the MVMCP too! Dec 7th!

Very cold 40 degrees this morning.

I even checked to see what rooms were available to book at this point . Since mom got upgraded to a Cat 11 I tried there. Nothing is left on Deck 7 in an 11.

Good Morning All,

It's pretty chilly here in North La today..50 degrees. That's chilly for us in early October!!

I am also at work today...we have every other Friday off, so more than half of the employees aren't here today, so it's really quiet. I like it, can get a lot of work done...or none at all...:lmao:

HAs anybody eles had trouble booking nursery time on the DCL website?

I did have a hard time last week. It kept kicking me off the website. Then, I'd have to go back and do it all again. Then, I finally gave up and waited until the next morning and all was fine EXCEPT the available times!!! It wasn't any left in the afternoon on sea days. So, we had to do 11AM until 2PM. I'm not sure if he'll even stay there, but we'll see. I also reserved two night during our dinner for a a couple of hours, we have late. And I got a few after dinner, in case, we won't to participate in adult activities.

But, we do have a "Velcro child" too!!! So, who knows, we may have him all the time.

Hi ... I wanted to comment about Christmas stuff. For those that haven't vacationed this time of year, here is my experience.

In 2006, I made fun of all the ladies on here that were putting up Christmas decorations, buying and wrapping presents, etc. in October and early November (I'm sure some of you remember that! I believe my main "target" was Jan ;) ). That was the year I learned my lesson. We got back from home on December 2 and it was a mad rush to get everything done ... putting up the tree was just a loathsome chore, there was no fun in buying and wrapping gifts (and I HATE to wrap gifts to begin with), no holiday spirit because everything was rushed and I was just uh ... grumpy for lack of a more DIS-friendly word (ask Mutt :scared: )

So last year, I had the tree decorated and ready to display when we got home, plus had all the decorations up before we left and many gifts done. It was so much more stress-free and the holiday spirit came back (the Mutt was thankful for that :rolleyes1 )

This year, don't forget that we have a grand total of 15 DAYS between getting off the ship and Christmas! I'll probably do the tree and decorations the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Lesson learned!

I always have books on me, I'll be recruiting the workers at Port Canaveral...

Hey do you think I can barter myself an upgrade?

We went to a lia sophia meeting in May at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square and when we checked in we asked for a view of Times Square, the lady said oh rooms that have a view are $70 more, I said we are here with lia sophia jewelry, do you like jewelry? I said when I unpack I'll bring you down a piece of jewelry just because I think you are nice, she said you are in room xxxx, enjoy your view.   My friend and I got back to our room about 1 am and we opened the curtains and turned our chairs around and people watched and the street was still crowded! It was great!

I really want to come to New York City too!! You'll have to let us know where to stay and have the full New York experience.

I know that I should re-think this....but I will be cooking Thanksgiving dinner...

But is only for 5 people and the clean up should not be so bad....plus I'm going to have it at my dad's place...so I dont have to clean house before I leave. Ok.....I will clean house because I cant leave if I dont...but at least I wont have the mess here.

I always cook for my parents the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving b/c we spend Thanksgiving Day with DH's family. Last year, DH and I cooked the ENTIRE Paula Deen Thanksgiving meal. It was great. Even the dressing, and it was my first time for that. Momma usually brings it. I love to cook, but only when I have time, which is rare now.

My goal is to have all shopping and decorating done the weekend before we leave. Last year I just put up my tree and finished when we got back but since there is one less week this year it needs to all be done. Even though we don't have any kids, we always go all out for Christmas.

I love Christmas and the decorations too. I have always gone all out, even when we didn't have kids either. I collect Christmas things, so it takes me a week just to get it all out!!! I hope to have it all out by the week before we leave too!!!

Amen to that Shell. Last year we waited again to put up the tree and regretted it BIG TIME. THis year we will be the Christmassiest (how's that for a new word?) house in the city in mid November! Must start thinking about gifts NOW.

Since Bill works for a sign company, we get commercial grade magnets that you wouldn't be able to find in stores.

I'm with you. I am very confused about the whole coke meaning soda thing.

I guess I shouldn't have mentioned this... B/c I really can't explain it either. When we go grocery shopping, we put Coke on the list....even if it's Dr.Pepper we are actually shopping for...I guess it's a habit from when we used to be Coca-Cola drinkers, and now we mostly drink Dr. Pepper and Root beer. Sorry of all of the confusion!!;) :goodvibes

I'm confused  ....do you say "I'll have a medium coke please Dr. Pepper"...instead of "I'll have a medium soda please Dr. Pepper" like I'm used too???.....like you are asking for 2 brands of soda in the same sentance:confused3 :lmao: :confused3

I guess it's pretty confusing..No, we just say we would like a Dr. Pepper when ordering a places. It's more of a habit when we shop.

they have one station that plays all animated disney movies, the other plays a variety of family movies. Nothing current in theaters on the TV.

In the movie theater they have first run movies and a few recent ones.
They try to have something for the kids, teens and adults in their movie line up.
If there is a big disney premiere movie they will play it in the large Walt Disney theater once or twice and also in the movie theater, which keeps the crowds down a bit.

I dont remember where I found my nanas at. But I downloaded them to photobucket to post them here.

just google free banana icons and see what pops up.
some sights charge, thats why I put the free there.

Maybe somone here can give you a specific site? I hope.

No, the first run movies are only in the theater. They do have movie channels in the rooms but they are older movies and disney cartoons.

OK I have a cruise tip for the ladies. I don't know if any of you use it yet but last cruise I just started using the ID Minerals make up. Let me tell you it worked great. It has a really good sunblock in it, my face never got sunburned. I even put it on before I went to the pool and it worked pretty good. I hate putting regular sunscreen on my face because it makes me break out bad. Plus it's power so you could bring it in your carry on (yes, I always bring my make up in my carry on) I will risk my clothes getting lost but there is no way I would go without my make up:scared1:

I just finished walking the pups and now the rain has started again:sad2:

Well, I just made an executive decision for my household and DH doesn't even know it yet. You guys will hear it here first. I did mention it to him at lunch...he said "Just do what you want, It's your trip!!" I love him!! So, I was wrong about having to talk him into it.

I added another night to our Post-Cruise stay, we are nowing staying until Monday, Dec 8th. And I bought us tickets to the Mickey's Christmas Party on the 7th. Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: I have always wanted to go and I hated being so close and not getting to.:santa:

There is a downside to my excitement...I canceled the week we had planned in February to the World:sad1: . I just decided that two trips that close together and a ski trip, the holidays...too much to do, and my work is very hectic b/t Jan and March.

I did book us a new week through our timeshare for next May, Memorial Day, at the Marriot Grande Vista Resort. It's only 1 mile from the World. So, we'll go down then and take some folks with us. I traded my studio at Disney for a 3BR/3BA at the Marriot. Now we can take 12 folks. I may take my cousin and his wife and kids, they have 4, and would not be able to afford Disney otherwise.:goodvibes

Wow, sounds like you have it all worked out. I  Mickey Christmas Party. So much so I actually toyed with the idea of cancelling the cruise and just going to Disney World but I just couldn't be that close to the nanas and not vacation with them. As much as I would love to go to the Christmas party next year we are going to try something different and go to the Food and Wine Festival and Mickey's Halloween Party.

I may take my cousin and his wife and kids, they have 4, and would not be able to afford Disney otherwise.:goodvibes

That is so thoughtful of you. That would be such a great surprise for them.

All is well here, nothing to report. Just piddling until quitting time.....

You will LOVE the Christmas party. It's our favorite "special event" and we have been to the Halloween and P&P parties too. In fact, we actually went twice in one week to the Christmas party one year because we loved it so much the first night, when we went into the park on our last day of the trip, there was a sign that said tix were still available for that night...so we looked at each other and said "Let's do it!" And we had just as much fun the second time around.

What's up? I thought 6112 was Larry and MaryEllen!:confused3 Terri, The 500s are more Forward Starboard. the 100s are Aft Port. Which do you prefer? Denise and Sue are 6576 the closest on that side. Kathy, me and I thought MaryEllen are on the other.

she wont have that option, she is going for the rooms that are left for the Florida resident rates. They only have specific rooms that are discounted.
That is what we did and thats why we changed room numbers recently.

Truly, when I was in Costa Maya, I bought 2 BIG bottles of amoxicillian and unfortunaltely ran out of cash and couldn't get more.:confused3

If you had purchased $1,000 worth of Delta Airlines stock one year ago, you would have $49.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 worth of AIG stock one year ago, you would have $33.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 worth of Lehman Brothers stock one year ago, you would have $0.00 today.

But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drunk all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for a recycling refund, you would have received $214.00!

Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg Plan.

Hi everyone! I think the last time I posted was a week ago - telling all that I was off to girl scout overnight camp! It took some time to recover.... No actually - it went quite well. The girls were good, the weather rainy at night - but did not limit our activities. We were in a cabin - so the rain was ok. The girls had a great time! We (the adults) were worn out - but had some fun too. Glad that is behind us and we get to stay home this weekend. Camping is not my thing - but it was a good experience for the troop.....

Need to catch up - but wanted to say hello! More later.

Have a good night all!

Hello...I'm here!! We are sitting at home tonight listening to the local high school football team on the radio. We have season tickets, but we just didn't want to go out tonight. I am tired. DS has not slept well all week.

Past Cruisers- Since you all have sailed this exact week before, can you tell me? Are there a lot of kids on board this particular week? It's not a school holiday, right? I am asking b/c I read on another thread, that IF Flounders Reef is not full, that once on board that they WILL let you leave your child a few more hours if there's availablity on your sailing? So, on this cruise, wouldn't the kids be less. We have sailed on other ships during the school year, and it was hardly any kids on those. But, they some were 10 day and I know that's different to miss 10 days of class.

But Flounders Reef may not be affected by the low kid ratio anyway, since they are not school age anyway...Just wondering?

So, you all are going on the exact same cruise next year? Same ship, same places?

Any chance you'll have a Nana cruise on another itinerary? Like mexico or if they offer Alaska ever? We hope so much that Disney does do Alaska in 2010..

You will LOVE the Christmas party. It's our favorite "special event" and we have been to the Halloween and P&P parties too. And we had just as much fun the second time around.

This past March we did the P&P party and we liked it too. So, I knew we would like the Christmas one too. I love that the crowds are low. You can ride lots of stuff with no wait. Great!!! And I bet the parade is awesome.
