01-21-2010, 04:28 PM
im here i have just been really busy with work and spending my paycheck at our disney store since it will be closing feb 20th :sad1: they have all the adult tees on sale for $6 and pretty much the whole store is on sale we only spent $13 on 2 adult shirts, a journal, and one of those XL disney store bags.
I may have to go back before it closes and get my brother a birthday present
Jen what seating did yall do for the Hoop-dee do review? we are gonna try and see it and i think we are gonna try for the wednesday right before the cruise it was either that or the saturday night when we get in but i though saturday would be the hardest to get in.

hiya, sorry been a bit awol too, but there wasnt much going on here, where has everyone disappeared to???!!
$6 t-shirts sounds really cool, there's a couple of adult t-shirts at work that i quite like, but even with my discount, they come out at about $15, which is money i could do without spending at the mo. oh well, will just have to wait til they go on sale.
but i'll be getting my CM ID card soon, which although it doesnt really mean much at the mo (i can get my discount at other stores with it, and discounts at WDW (which i cant use til next year anyway)) i'm still looking forward to getting my CM ID in a really dorky geeky way :rotfl: means i'm a fully fledged CM!!
lainey, i'd heard that a load of the US disney stores were closing, i saw a list of which ones, and i saw one in georgia, and wondered if it was your one. i'm allowed on the cast boards on here, and there's a longish thread about the stores closing and all the people losing their jobs. its a horrible thing, especially as a lot of the cast say they've been there since their stores opened.
got a day off tomorrow, planning on not doing a huge amount! lol. might as well enjoy the time off while i can, i've managed to pick up quite a bit of overtime today over the next month or so. need money....... but i'm £32 (about $50) better off than i was before i started work today already, over christmas we had a few target "competition" type thingys between the stores in each area, we got points based on how much the guests spend, how many things they buy, how many actually buy stuff, and the more points we got, the more vouchers we would get. i got mine today and i've got about $50 worth of gift vouchers that are valid for loads of big stores over here. that was a nice cool thing to start my shift with :) free money/vouchers are always good!

hows everyone's weekend going?
i've been working all weekend, got a day off tomorrow, then back in for 5 days straight. its a good thing as it means i get some overtime, need all i can get at the mo!
i've just booked my flights for the holidays this year, we're not going anywhere fancy this year, so i'm off to spain (parents own a house out there) for a week in july and a week in september, it'll be nice to get some sun and warmth!
£111 (about $177) for 2 sets of return flights, just me at the mo, not gary (he's not got enough holiday days to take. darn good price i think!

Hi girls!
Lainey, we sat in Cat 1 for the Hoop Dee Doo show. I don't know if you're familiar with the place but we were off to the side of the stage, right where the piano player is. Any seat in there is a good one because the actors interact so much with the crowd. They even when up to the balcony seats!
I've heard for awhile that the Disney store in NYC is closing. Any truth to that Karen?
My weekend was fun! I had a 3 day weekend because it was Joe's birthday on Friday so I took the day off. We went to Atlantic City on Friday night and stayed over. Then on Saturday we went to see Disney on ice: 100 years of Magic. That was my first time ever seeing one of those shows. Sooooo good, I loved it!!! I took some pictures so maybe I'll post them on here soon. Sunday I just relaxed and had dinner with Joe's family and surprisingly watched football. I usually check out the scores so I know what's going on but that was the first time other than the Super Bowl that I've watched an entire game start to finish. Go me! :rotfl:

01-25-2010, 01:36 PM
atlantic city sounds fun, we saw disney on ice for the first time about 3 months ago, it was cool :) you'll have to show us some pics of when you went.
yeah the world of disney in NYC is closing, but they are opening a new one somewhere near times square. not sure when though.

jenny, just noticed your ticker, donald is ALMOST at all star movies!! not long to go now!
jenny105
01-25-2010, 02:47 PM
I know!! Just a little over 3 weeks, I can't believe it!
Which Disney on Ice show did you see?
The WoD store isn't that far from Times Square. They're going to close just to move 10 blocks downtown??
karentan
01-25-2010, 03:53 PM
we saw princess wishes, it was good, but i'd have preferred to have seen one of the general disney on ice shows, i'm not that all into the princesses. it was still really good though :)
totally jealous that you're going back in 3 weeks, we've gotta wait til the end of next year before we can get back, although i'm now all booked up for 2 trips to spain this year so at least i get some sun this year.......
got this off stitchkingdom.com about the new times square store:
The closing of 2009 saw the end of an era for New York City in that the World of Disney, located in the world-famous Fifth Avenue shopping area, shuttered its doors forever. A taste of the Disney Parks, the World of Disney store was a sister store to its Downtown Disney counterparts, offering NYC residents and tourists the opportunity to purchase theme park merchandise, Disney on Broadway merchandise and — of course — NYC branded merchandise, some of which eventually became available at Youse Guys Moichendise in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The location was a holdover from when the city was virtually covered by Disney Stores. When Disney began closing the stores, all of the New York City stores fell victim, but Disney kept and held on to the Fifth Avenue store (which was the flagship Disney Store at the time) and eventually transferred it over to Disney Parks and Resorts, re-opening it as the World of Disney in October of 2004 as the license to operate the regular Disney Store chain was famously transferred to The Children’s Place.
Believe it or not, since Disney closed all the Disney Stores in NYC, there have been no Disney Stores to pop up in Manhattan. It would be a while before New York City would even see its first Disney Store in the outer boros. Perhaps The Childrens Place couldn’t open one in Manhattan by the terms of the agreement, but as there was no real overlap between the two in terms of merchandise, there was a giant pothole in the hearts of those longing for a local Disney Store.
In 2010, that pothole will finally be filled as Disney announced plans to open a Disney Store in Manhattan, at the tragic cost of losing the World of Disney store. One saving grace, however, is just like most anything in New York City, the new Disney Store will no doubt be a hotbed of activity flaunting the latest and greatest in technological advances and the Disney difference, offering an experience you won’t find anywhere else.
The location of the Disney Store, scheduled to open in fall of 2010, will be located at 1540 Broadway, in the heart of Times Square, between 45th and 46th Street. Now you may not know that address by name (MTV has its home at 1515 Broadway), but you may know the former occupant of that space, Virgin Megastore (as seen in the background of many movies, most recently 2012). At the time, the 3 floor, 60,000 square foot retail location (which included its own multiplex movie theater), was the largest Virgin Megastore in the world. There’s no mention of how much space Disney will be taking over, but the location is beyond ideal, located next to the world’s largest toy store, Toys R Us, which itself features a two-story tall ferris wheel.
The new Disney Store will incorporate technologically advanced displays including an interactive Disney Princess castle to serve as one of many magical centerpieces at the new Times Square location. An all-new children’s theater will feature the latest Disney entertainment, classic animation, and continue Disney’s rich tradition of storytelling.
“Bringing Disney Store to the center of Times Square is a monumental achievement, and we have created a retail experience that complements the energy and innovation that Times Square inspires,” said Jim Fielding, president of Disney Stores Worldwide. “We’re focused on reinvigorating retail and providing a unique shopping destination to millions of families from all over the world who travel to New York for a magical experience.”
“Disney’s bold move to restore 42nd Street’s greatest landmark theater in the 1990s was THE turning point in Times Square’s recent history. We are thrilled that Disney is bringing its creative energies yet again to Times Square with this new Disney Store. An iconic brand is coming again to America’s most iconic place,” said Tim Tompkins, president of Times Square Alliance.
Renovations will begin soon at the Times Square location, designed to showcase a wide assortment of products inspired by iconic Disney characters and key entertainment properties. The newly-designed Disney Store will facilitate interactive play and imagination, host children’s activities, special events, and celebrity appearances. Over the next five years Disney Store plans to strategically balance its retail portfolio, enter new markets, and transform more than 300 locations across the US and Europe to feature the new design.
Update: 1/5/10 - Although Disney is not yet ready to discuss how much of the space will be used, sources have indicated it will be approximately 25,000 square feet, or nearly half of the existing space. By comparison, it’s estimated that the former World of Disney location consumed about 36,000 square feet.

yeah in theory we're coming over in august for my 30th. not sure though, depends on if we actually have the money to do it.
any idea how far away newark airport is to NYC, which is better, newark or JFK? and is it easy to get to the city from either?
(sorry, if we do end up going, i'll probably be picking your brains for the next few months :))
jenny105
01-29-2010, 09:01 AM
It's really easy to get to the city from Newark. You can take a cab or there is an air train that will take you to a NJ Transit Train. The train will take you right into NYC, at Penn Station with is 32nd and 33rd between 7th and 8th. It takes less than a half hour. The station is about 10 blocks from Times Square. With a cab you may hit traffic with the tunnels and it'll cost you more.
JFK is a nightmare. Just don't haha.

just seen your TR jenny, whats happened? are you ok?
jenny105
01-29-2010, 03:33 PM
Yeah, I'm ok. Did you just try texting me cause it said I had an incoming text but it didn't come through. I just got sick of the drama and always being the bad guy. I feel bad that he's hurt and that I pretty much lost my best friend but it feels like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders.
karentan
01-29-2010, 03:45 PM
yeah i just texted you.
were you guys having a lot of problems then? sorry to hear that, hope you're both ok though

Surely there must be someone who'd be able to go with you last minute? I'd say go regardless, not much point in losing all that money. Disney world is the one place on earth that I'd feel totally safe going on my own!

01-29-2010, 04:36 PM
Jen im sorry about yall but as long as you are happy and feel good thats what matters. I would go with you to disney if we had the extra money to spend but we are going on vacation in march so we are trying to save for that.
Well i tried to make a thread for the cruise we are going on so we will see how that goes i have a feeling i will be alone on it for quite a while.

One of my friends is thinking about going with me. She's currently in Las Vegas at the moment but she's going to let me know. Joe said he's still going. I don't know where he's staying. He paid for the flights and I paid for the hotel so it's certainly not going to be that hotel room! I wish you girls could go, that'd be so much fun!

jenny105
02-01-2010, 02:44 PM
I asked my friend Katie and my cousin Adam (he's never been there) to go. They both told me they'd let me know. It's a little over two weeks away so I need to know soon! I would like to still go but if I can't find anyone else to go with me, I guess I'll just have to cancel. :guilty:

02-02-2010, 10:53 AM
woul you lose a lot of money if you did? not sure how much money you put into this trip.
well i'm back from the stocktake, it wasnt as bad as i was expecting it to be actually, we got done a lot quicker than i thought we'd be, but then we had a load of waiting around til they figured it all out then we had to recount some stuff. just a bit weary now though.... early night i think
jenny105
02-02-2010, 02:04 PM
The trip didn't cost much. I paid for the room portion which was around $330 with the travel agent rate. If I cancelled, I was lose some money but get most of it back. Still waiting on my friend Katie. She's my last hope. I guess I could go by myself but...I dunno. :confused3

I wish you could go Lainey, that would have been fun. I canceled it. I did see that Disneyland is hosting a fam in March so I may register for that. I have until Tuesday to decide if I want to or not.
karentan
02-04-2010, 06:18 PM
i'd say go for the fam, at least you get a bit of a disney fix that way. did you lose much money by cancelling?
how's everyone's week going anyway? i'm just so tired at the mo, doing quite a bit of overtime this week and not feeling too well anyway so its just taking its toll at the mo. i've got sunday and monday off, so only got 2 more days til some rest and relaxation.....
jenny105
02-05-2010, 10:00 AM

How's it going ladies? How was the weekend? On Saturday we got hit with a snow storm so I spent a good part of the afternoon shoveling. Superbowl Sunday which basically meant I got to eat a lot. :rotfl:

02-08-2010, 12:10 PM
well i was working saturday, but been off yesterday and today :cloud9: just been enjoying some nice time being able to do absolutely nothing.
but (and thats a big but), my car went in for its annual service and MOT today, took it to a garage that i've never used before, but they were advertising an offer, so took it there. got a call to say it'd failed its MOT, apparently my headlights are too high up, the indicator lights on the side are the wrong color (??) and all 4 brakes need changing, brake pads and the shoes. the service and MOT should have cost £120, they wanted £520 to do the lot. not impressed.
luckily mum was out and about and took it round the corner to the place she takes her car, they said the brakes are ok and do not need changing, the headlights are easy to fix, and the indicators arent even on the MOT anyway.
bottom line, had to pay the robbing b**tards garage £120, then going to take the car back to the other garage on friday to get the couple of bits done and get it re tested.
expensive lesson. just going to stick to my normal garage next time.
jenny105
02-08-2010, 03:13 PM
You can't trust mechanics!! They're constantly trying to rip you off. Take it from one who works with a whole bunch of them!! I won't even let these guys touch my car!! :rotfl2:
m_kasch
02-08-2010, 04:00 PM
Hey now! Let's not take it out on all mechanics! Tim's a mechanic! Lol!
We are at disney now, out room at the gf has an awesome view...you cam see poly, the wilderness lodge, contemporary, and the magic kingdom, including the castle! We were surprised, since we only paid for lagoon view, not mk!
I watched the shuttle launch from my balcony this morning for a pic!
karentan
02-09-2010, 05:02 AM
i saw your photo on facebook mary, we saw the one that launched in 2008, was amazing, shame they're stopping the shuttle programme.
i've got work this afternoon and got a stinking cold :(
jenny105
02-09-2010, 11:17 AM
Mary, wave hi to WL for me! I miss it!
Still no word on whether or not I've been approved for the Disneyland fam. If I do, I hope we get to stay in the Grand Californian. It reminds me of WL.
Karen, it seems like you've been sick all winter! Load up on vitamin C!!
karentan
02-09-2010, 03:19 PM
i take vitamins every day and they never seem to do me any good....
jenny105
02-11-2010, 12:02 PM
I do too but I've noticed I don't get sick half as much as I used to. But when I do get sick, it's for an extended period of time. :confused3
I've been away from DIS for two days and this was the only thread that was posted on during that time frame. Where is everybody?

im here i have just been working alot i found the website for the ship yard building the disney dream and they have a webcam and you can see the back of the dream.
karentan
02-12-2010, 03:48 AM
yeah i saw a photo of it yesterday, looking good so far, and its nice to know that it still looks like a disney ship, not one of the big white boxes that all the other cruise lines sail. i think thats part of the reason i like DCL so much, their ships are sooooo much prettier than the other liners.
so whats everyone up to at the weekend? i'm working saturday like normal, then doing overtime sunday 11-3, gary's leaving for the airport at about midday (he's going to germany for 2 days on business), so on valentines day, we'll be lucky if we see each other for an hour or so in the morning, romantic eh!
jenny105
02-12-2010, 12:00 PM
Hey girls. After work tonight, I'm going out for drinks with my co-workers. As for the rest of the weekend, who knows? Sucks that you won't get to see Gary on Valentine's Day. Lainey, do you have any plans? I was actually asked on a date for V-Day...

Well no work for me today we got about 5-7 inches of snow that isnt the reason im not going to work its the ice that my car and i have a problem with even with traction stability control on my new car doesnt prevent spinning out. I guess since its saturday the dot decided not to put salt and sand on the road around here they just decided to scrape the snow off. Oh well today isnt a day where i really want to get out.
jenny105
02-13-2010, 09:23 AM
Yes, I accepted. It should be fun.
We got over a foot of snow on Tues and Wed. I must've gone outside to shovel 3 times. I'm so over snow. No more!

even i'm getting bored with it now, it snowed a bit on thursday, roll on spring and summer!!
jenny105
02-15-2010, 10:10 AM
It's supposed to snow again tonight and into tomorrow. Ugh. I hope it's enough for at least a delayed opening, maybe even a closure. Last time they had a delayed opening, it was for 10 am which was the time I had to be here anyway! Not fair! I should have been allowed to come in at 12! :rotfl:
Still no word on the Disneyland fam yet. They extended the registration until tomorrow so I'm hoping I'll hear by Wednesday...
karentan
02-15-2010, 10:47 AM
good luck!
yeah i know that feeling, the one day the shopping centre closed early, i was down for an early that day, so had already left by that point. and the next day it was snowing real bad and we had to stay open til our normal time. not fair!
day off today, and i feel like crap. this is starting to become an annoying trend.....
jenny105
02-15-2010, 02:29 PM
Ugh. I hope you feel better soon, Karen.
I've been pricing out a trip to Disney World for my bday in Oct with a few of my friends. It's very quiet here today so it's giving me all the time in the world to do it. :rotfl: I'm thinking there will be 4 or 5 of us so instead of one room, I was looking at the family suite at ASMu, the FW Cabins, and OKW 2 BR Villa but unless I can get a break on that rate, OKW is out of reach!

02-15-2010, 02:48 PM
how long are you thinking of going for? sounds like good fun!
jenny105
02-16-2010, 11:25 AM
For about a week. I was originally looking at 4 nights but since 3 of the people interested in going have never been there before, that's a lot to cram in. So possibly 6 nights. Rather than getting two rooms, I was looking at suites and villas. I hope we can all go, it'd be a good time! Especially cause it's food and wine!! ;)

feeling better today, just had really bad stomach yesterday,

I can't wait to see Alice in Wonderland.
The Disneyland famn was cancelled. Lack of participation. :( It was rescheduled for the beginning of May so I think I'm gonna try again and see what happens.
I'm supposed to be in Disney World right now. :sad1:

Hopefully this trip in October will pan out. I need my Disney fix this year. The dates for the Disneyland fam in May aren't really great for me. They fall during my nephew's birthday. I'll think about it as it gets closer.
I've seen them 6 times since Sept 2008. :rotfl: These shows will be my 7th and 8th!

Fish Extenders are like goody bags! You hang them outside and whoever is in on the fish extender group (usually people you meet through the DIS) will leave you presents! Some things are homemade, you get a lot of candy, and little odds and ends. It's fun coming back to your room to see everything you've gotten!

Hey girls!! Guess what?!?! I'm going on a cruise in April!! My little sister (Amy, you all met her) won the big prize on Let's Make a Deal...but they didn't have the prize here, so they gave her the money and she wants to go on a trip...so here we go!! We got a GTY 12 for only 299 each!! I'm so excited!! :cool1:
Jenny, I hear you are getting another big storm in the next couple of days...it's been snowing here since Saturday. I am SO over this winter.
How is everyone else?? :wizard:

Awesome news about the cruise! So soon too!

The roads were SO horrible here this morning, I was in I-80, right before I get on the toll road...and then the traffic was slowing, so everyone stopped. When you would go to stop, it was so icy your brakes would lock up. It was scary!! :scared1: My heart was going about 9 million beats a minute, but then after I got on the toll road, it was okay.
Work has been busy here, we have an audit going on, so that's a lot of work. But I did get promoted (yay!!) to Sr. Accountant, so that's good! :woohoo:
That is insane about the whale. There's very little information here...but apparently so guests could see it from the viewing area :scared1:

The Sea World thing was all over the news. My question is, if it attacked and killed someone before, why was Sea World still holding on to it??
Congrats on your promotion, Mary!

Karen congrats on getting your ID card and Jen that sounds fun I hope you have a great time but its disney you always have a good time.
Well nothing new to report here other than I'm sick which sucks i feel like crap and i think im gonna take some cough medicine and lay down maybe some more sleep will help me feel better.
Jen you would like the Percy Jackson movie we took my little brother to see it and he loved it it was funny bc while we were sitting in our seats waiting for the movie to start this family sat down in front of us and Jeremy said "Hello" and they didn't say anything back so then Jeremy assumes that they are ignoring him and he says "OH COME ON!!!" I couldn't quit laughing he is five and it sounded so funny coming out of his mouth.
Well i have one more week and i will be 25 I told greg what i really want is to go to Disney but that isnt happening so i decided on a DQ Ice Cream Cake i havent had one of them in a while. Well i had better get my sick butt back to bed i will talk to y'all later.

hope you feel better soon lainey. i've got the sniffles again, i think this weather isnt helping, its march now, time for the sucky weather to p*ss off now.
saratoga is lovely jenny, if you can, put in a request for congress park, downtown disney view, we had one of those rooms on our last night last year, and its great sitting on your balcony looking over at DTD, plus its a nice short walk over to the margharita bar!
nothing much to report here, been a bit awol on here lately, but havent really been up to much. i should hear back in the next few days about a work thing, i've been put forward for a 3 week placement at disney head office in london to help with the new till systems, doubt i'll get it, but they put my name down for it, and if i get it it means i get 3 weeks of guaranteed full time overtime (the one thing that sucks about disney is that i'm only part time, i cant get full time hours, but i've gotta try and get as much overtime as possible to try and make my hours up. i'm doing pretty well so far, but not sure how it'll go long term). not expecting to get it but keeping fingers crossed, t'll be good experience, plus i get to go see head office at disney which is cool
back to work tomorrow, my boss has put me down for overtime, and i've actually got a full 36 hour week this week. :)
jenny105
03-02-2010, 09:27 AM
I was reading about the sections and I definitely want to put in a request for Congress Park. Is it within walking distance of DTD or do you have to take a boat over? How is the bussing from there? I know nothing of this resort lol. Who knows if we'll end of actually staying there, you know how many times I switched last trip, but if all 6 of us do end up going it will definitely be SSR.
I hope you feel better soon Lainey!
I can't wait for warm weather but it's supposed to snow again tonight into tomorrow ugh.
karentan
03-02-2010, 02:39 PM
the walk from congress park is aout ten minutes if that. its a nice walk too along a well lit path. you come out at DTD marketplace, near the design a tee shop.
we were in the paddock the first half of the trip and even then, the walk is only about 15 mins.
there are 5 bus stops, they come regularly, we didnt have any issue at all with the buses. if you need to get to a resort, you can walk (or bus) to DTD then get a direct bus to the resort, instead of having to bus to a park then back out again.
its a great resort, we stayed there for the first time last year, we've done AKL twice and have both agreed that we're not that bothered about going back there, but we both want to go back to SSR
jenny105
03-02-2010, 03:48 PM
That's what made me choose SSR over OKW, the location. I like that if I have an ADR at a resort, I can just walk over to DTD and catch a bus, rather than having to go to a park and then transfer. Thanks for all the info, Karen!

03-02-2010, 09:47 PM
Well its snowing here once again I am use to cool weather close to my birthday but i am not use to SNOW this close to it. Oh i checked the werft meyer website and they have added the front smoke stack to the Disney Dream and now it is the only ship in that covered dock and it looks like they have started building the back half of the ship which is where our room is.
Ok greg and i cant decided where to stay when we get off the cruise next sept it is between ASMu and POP since some of the POP rooms have been updated but i dont really know its only for one night so we will be spending more time at the pool and around the resort and then going out to eat with Karen and Gary :cool1::cool1::cool1:
I love the way music looks and then i could go take pictures at the other 2 All Star Resorts luckily i have a while before we have to decide.
Thank you guys i am feeling much better a day of rest really helped.
karentan
03-03-2010, 02:15 AM
when i was trying to decide (we were supposed to be staying at a value, then i swapped to SSR and AKV! :)) we chose music, the rooms just looked nicer to us, its the middle of the 3 all stars so easier to get round, and POP is just huge in comparison.
but yay for dinner plans! we need to choose where we want to go!
jenny, we had the same dilemma as you at first, OKW or SSR. the location was one of the main deciding factors for us, SSR is just so much closer and you have the option of walking to DTD, with OKW you'd need to get the boat first. plus gary had a round of golf during our trip and the course went through SSR and OKW. we just weren't sure about OKW after that, SSR have big buildings, but they're not too big, but the OKW buildings are tiny, there's a LOT of them, and it just all looked a bit disjointed. plus a lot of them back really on to the fairways of the golf course, so i'm not sure if i'd feel comfortable sitting on the balcony, knowing my luck i'd get knocked out by a stray golf ball!
jenny105
03-03-2010, 09:02 AM
My vote is for POP. I've stayed there a bunch of times and have loved it. I never thought the resort was all that big. But then again I've never seen the All Star resorts. They must be tiny in comparison.
That was my fear at OKW too! :rotfl: I didn't like how the golf course seemed right on top of the rooms. I just kept thinking 'knowing my luck, I'll get hit with a golf ball.' Great minds, Karen. LOL.

03-03-2010, 10:42 AM
As long as where we eat is at one of the resorts or at DTD since we probably wont have park tickets for that day b/c we want to relax at the pool for most of the day. As long as the restaurant has stuff greg will eat its good since he seems to be more of a picky eater than the rest of us.
I was leaning towards staying at the Music one but i couldnt make up my mind.

I saw captain eo yesterday...it was weird. Lol! But cool to see since I didn't see it when it used to be around. My room at the hyatt is nice and I have a view if the mountains!
I'm eating at the napa rose tonight...I hear its good!
Karen, ill be sure to look out for garys golf next time I'm in fl, lol! I would probably hurt someone if I ever try real golf vs mini. Did you guys see that there is going to be a mini golf course on the dream?

hope you're having a good day
how's everyone's weekend been? i went up to derby to meet with some of my college flatmates, havent seen them in about a year and a half, and it was nice to see them again, but (and i really dont mean this to sound horrible) i realised that we havent got a huge amount in common anymore. its been about 9 years since we graduated, and i've probably seen them no more than about 5/6 times since. for some reason i kept thinking "i should be at work right now", actually missed being at work (what the hell's with that??!!), and was a bit bored to be honest. part of me thinks it was nice to see them again, but the other half thinks that it cost me about $100 to go up there. i realise that probably makes me sound like an absolute b*tch but i didnt enjoy it all that much.
but back at home now, back to my own bed, and back at work, so back to the normality. i've been trying to figure out the best way to get into/out of london for my Muse gig in september. normally it wouldnt be a problem getting the train and the subway in, but i've gotta try and get out of the gig and on to the subway at the same time as about 90,000 other people (its a huge venue), and across london in time to get the last train home. i think i need to have a word with the other people i'm going with and see what they think.

Hope you had a great birthday Lainey!
I had a 3 day weekend. I didn't do a whole lot really. Saw Alice in Wonderland. It was ok. I was expecting it to be better so I felt a little let down. Johnny Depp was brilliant though, as always. Last night I went out with a couple of my friends to a local bar that two of the NY Rangers were going to be at. They wanted like $45 for an autograph! :scared1: So I didn't see them lol. Just sat in the bar, ate, and had a few drinks. The one guy is only 19 so I was like 'send him out, we'll buy him a drink.' LOL. Still fun though.
I'm in a mood today. Not happy being back at work.

i've had a rubbish day at work today too. the dog jumped into the ditch in the park 40 mins before i was due to leave for work, so had to drag him out (with mum's help) and give him a bath before i could leave for work,
work was iffy, there's been some crap going on as my manager has been off for a week and the old manager has been coming in and trying to throw his weight around all the time, so my manager was in a 2 hour meeting all afternoon, and is a bit peeved off, so its been a really sh*tty atmosphere.
and to top it all off, got back home, stuck my dinner in the microwave, went to get it out, and have just been burnt by a bit of exploding pork. (you cant make that kind of crap up!)

ditto, just been busy with work.
how's everyone's week been? i've just got to get through today then i get a slightly late weekend (sunday and monday off).
i was driving home last night, and got hit from behind when i stopped to let someone through. luckily neither of us got hurt, and the other car was braking hard (it was wet, and he just skidded) so it didnt hit me that hard. as much as i moan about my car sometimes, its damn tough, its the second time someone has gone into the back of me and not made a dent. this time its slightly scratched my back fender, but not dented it or anything. but his car was a lot worse off, he had to take off his front fender as it was hanging off, and he's totally caved in the front wing of his car.

i totally agree, sometimes you just want to do absolutely nothing all day!
i would have thought that the crap weather would make you busier anyway, there's nothing like booking a holiday to somewhere nice and hot when its cold and raining outside.
i'm aching now, mum wanted help fixing the shed, some of the panels are rotting away (they have been for ages now, but its getting worse), so we had to take 6 planks off, and replace them. sounded like an easy job, but 3 hours later we finally finished, it took ages getting them off without braking the rest of the shed, we had to do a bit of bodging it, as some of the supports were starting to rot too, but finally done.
just rewarded myself with a glass of pepsi and a donut!
back to work tomorrow....

i've had a really busy week at work, not been feeling too well either so really havent been in the mood to work either. was supposed to have friday off, got a call at 4pm and started work at 7, was supposed to be off yesterday too, then got asked to help re-lay the store, so started at 5pm yesterday and worked all the way through til 6am this morning. so am a bit tired today. managed to swap to have today and tomorrow off though, so enjoying a bit of peace and quiet, and hoping that they dont end up calling me to come back in again.
then only got wednesday to get through at work, then got a long weekend off, its garys birthday on friday plus its easter weekend (2 bank holidays! yay!), so we're off up to scotland to see his parents and have a weekend away. will be nice to have some time off, it seems like all i've been doing lately is working and sleep (and not enough of that either!)

I won a prize in the trivia contest! It's not a 4 night cruise but it's still nice :)

The top 200 scores got prizes. I ranked 99th. Not bad considering thousands of people signed up!

yeah i can walk since i dont bend it that much when i walk I was trying to turn around my go cart and the girl next to me that had spun out hadn't turned her car all the way so it was either hit her or hit the wall and i chose the wall and my left foot was under the brake pedal so when i hit it broke my little toe. It is feeling better but still sore to bend. yeah i am accident prone but this was just plain sad :sad2: we got to eat at the rainforest cafe at Opry Mills in Nashville now greg wants to eat at the one either in DTD or AK

Do Rainforest at AK and TRex at DTD! The people that own Rainforest own TRex. That place is loud but it's a lot of fun! And the food is pretty good!
There's nothing you can really do for a broken toe, is there?
And Karen, I'm keeping my clock lol.

sorry, havent had any internet access since thursday (apart from my phone, but its a pain in the butt to reply on the disboards on my phone).
had a great weekend though, was nice to get away for a few days, we went up to glasgow to see gary's parents, plus it was his birthday on friday so we were celebrating that too. i didnt know what to buy him, so i ended up booking for us to go sledging at a big indoor ski slope up there, then i booked him a session in one of those flotation tanks/sensory deprivation tanks, he's always wanted to try one.
we went to TGI fridays :):):):):):) i love that place! especially the bar!, did some pin trading at the disney store (got the last pin in a cast set i was looking for), and met up with a friend who used to live down here but moved up there a few years back.
so had a good weekend. how about you?

Hey Girls!! It's been a while. I can't remember the last time I posted here...:confused3
So, my next cruise is in a little over 3 weeks!! I'm so excited. The cruise thread is not NEARLY as exciting as this one was (and is), and our FE has only 5 cabins participating. Oh well, it's still fun!!
I passed the 3rd section of my CPA, so now I have only 1 part left!! I'm sitting for it on May 27th. Hopefully then I will be done!!
How is everyone else doing?? Baseball started today...didn't go so well for my team. :sad2: Oh well, it's only one game!! Talk to you all later!!
jenny105
04-06-2010, 09:28 AM
We really lucked out with this cruise thread. We had awesome people all around! :thumbsup2
Karen, I've never met anyone who loves TGIFridays more than you! There's one within walking distance of my office. If you ever come visit, I know where to take you! :rotfl2: Tell Gary happy belated birthday for me!
My weekend was good but busy. I went to Dave and Buster's in NYC on Friday night for a friend's birthday and Saturday was filled with running errands. My family was over on Sunday and my nephews had me running around. Those boys tire me out!
Mary, congrats on passing another part of the CPA! It'll be all over soon, good luck on the final part! And so jealous you get to cruise soon! I've been dying to go again. Been toying with the idea of adding a 3 night cruise on before my WDW stay!
m_kasch
04-06-2010, 09:42 AM
If you think Karen loves TGIFridays, you should meet my brother in law!! We eat there ALL the time. He gets on a kick with a place, that that's the only place we ever eat when the family goes out together. It's MUCH better than his latest kick Buffalo Wild Wings. I DO like BWW, but it gets a little old after the 4th time in a row!! :goodvibes
The weather here is awful today, they had baseball sized hail in some places!! Luckily, we seemed to miss most of it, but that is nuts!!
Do they ever have TA rates on the 3 day cruises?? Ours was only $299, so if they have a TA rate it's probably awesome!! We paid for a 12 but got a 9 this time!! Yay for GTY rates!! :wizard:
jenny105
04-06-2010, 12:39 PM
I've never tried BWW. I'd probably love it cause I loooove buffalo wings!
Sorry about the bad weather. It's gorgeous here. Supposed to be near the 80s all week! 88 tomorrow I think! Crazy!
The TA rates for cruises are weird. You can't call for them more than 90 days out. I think they go based on how full the ship is. There's no set rate. And occasionally they come around with those $25/nt deals but it seems like the only ones being offered lately are the European cruises!

its a shame you cant book TA rates for other people, we really wanted one of those european cruises but the CM discounts ran out by the time i called :(
mary, congrats on the next part of your CPA. only one more to go!
we've had really nice weather here today too, not that i saw too much of it because i was working all day but it seemed nice! it was throwing it down with rain when we left scotland yesterday and got progressively sunnier the further south we got.
i'm not that obsessed with TGIs really, its just that i only ever get to go once, maybe twice a year so i look forward to it. believe it or not we've never actually had a proper meal there, the only food we've had are the bar sharing platters, we mainly go for the bar! now that makes us sound bad....... oh well who cares!

04-06-2010, 03:56 PM

Hey y'all sorry i havent been on in a while i finally have a day off after working 8 days in a straight so i am really tired and i have to start back to class today :sad2: so it isnt really a day off. Congrats Mary on being one step closer to being a CPA I know my mom is also proud of you since she is a CPA.
My toe is almost healed it still hurts but atleast its not black and blue, Karen when ever we go to TGIFridays all we eat are the appetizers kinda sad but we love em'
I had a great easter we had my little brothers birthday party the saturday before easter so that was our easter celebration since all of my family was there i ended up getting silly stringed from HEAD TO TOE thanks to my brother and my husband.
We did get lucky with this cruise board the one for our Dream cruise has 3 or for families on it so far including me and greg but we havent made it passed one page yet. However all of the ones involved thus far want to do FE gift exchange and meet on the ship so that should be cool. I doubt we will get lucky and find someone who we would want to share dinner with like all of yall. I miss you all and i will talk to you later i have got to get ready for class.

Hey Lainey!! Toe injuries stink -- I broke my toe at camp once from stubbing on the stairs too much. Very painful!!
While my cruise this month has a low turnout here -- the Dream Maiden Voyage, on the other hand, is nuts!! I'm doing the linked late dining, so that should be a project!! Right now i'm working on a list for the FE stuff too, so far we have over 100 cabins!! :scared1::scared1: There were 101 on the list, but some of the people on the list put down more than one cabin, so there's even more than that. How in the world do you do a FE with THAT many people?? I think we will have to split it up or something. I'd have to bring a ginormus suitcase just for the FE stuff!! LOL!!
BWW is good, and I like it...but they don't have a huge selection if you don't like wings. There is a chili's right next door do that, I said that next time we go out I am not going to BWW, we have to go to chili's or something else. I know my BIL likes it because they have the two most important things to him: Beer & Sports!! HA!!
jenny105
04-08-2010, 11:31 AM
100 cabins!!! :scared1: I think you guys may have to end up splitting that up into groups. That is just way too much stuff to buy, make, and bring on board. Figures the MV would be full of DISers! :) I've been dying to go on a cruise. Maybe next year...

Hello Ladies! Sorry I've been away so long, but I had reconstructive surgery on my elbow, and finally feel well enough to spend time typing. I completely destroyed the tendons that connect to my elbow in a fall I had while working at my part time job. I had surgery in March to get everything back to working the way it is supposed to. I am finally back at my full time job, and I get to start physical therapy next week. We leave for Disney in three weeks, so I want to be ready to grip the safety bar on Everest :happytv:!
How are you all doing?!

04-09-2010, 02:06 PM
Ouch! That sounds painful! I'm glad everything is ok now and getting back to normal for you. Welcome back to our thread :) We all need to plan another cruise together soon! And I'm jealous you get to go to Disney so soon!
I've been good, keeping myself busy with work and friends mostly. Work is starting to pick up a bit since the weather is starting to turn and the summer is not too far away. I need more Disney trips to plan for people though, I only have 3 upcoming. Last year I think I had about 5 people traveling the same week in August alone. Disney keeps me busy! :) I've been busy planning my own trip in October, of course. ;)
Still waiting for my clock, Karen. Maybe they'll send me two by accident! :rotfl:

go for it, at least you can put the deposit down on it and if you change your mind you can get your deposit back (as long as you dont do it in the penalty period), that way you can lock in the cheaper rates :) at the mo its only $1725 for a cat 11c for 2 people. its a darn good way to celebrate your 29th birthday!
come on lainey and mary, you guys too :)

how's everyone's weekend been? i had to get up at 6am to drive my parents to the airport, they've gone back to spain now for the summer, they're not back til october now.
but the 6am start means that its now 9.37pm and i want to go to bed! plus the fact that i'm on a 2pm-11pm shift tomorrow (getting home about midnight), and due to me messing up my rota, i'm back at work at 6am the day after. if i'm lucky i'll get 4 and a half hours sleep :( so its a week of sleep deprivation ahead for me!
jenny105
04-12-2010, 08:50 AM
I'll look into the cruise more once I've got this upcoming trip sorted out. I still have to get airfare and a ticket. I'm hoping they come out with the TA deal they had last year so I can add on dining too. That was a steal cause everything was 50% off!
How do they do that to you with scheduling?? That doesn't seem fair at all!
karentan
04-13-2010, 06:11 AM
its my own mistake, one of the CMs asked if i would swap shifts with them, i said yes without looking at my rota first, thought i finished at 6pm yesterday, but then realised i was on the close.
actually wasnt as bad as i thought, i'm surprisingly awake considering.....
jenny105

yay i've got 2 days off! gotts take my car back to the garage tomorrow which is going to be a huge pain in the ***. it went in last week to get its brakes changed, and now there's a wierd noise and the brakes are still squeaking. :(
unfortunately it means i dont get a lie in, and have to either wait around all day for my car, or walk back into town (about 2 and a half miles) then get the bus back. either way its a pain. oh well.

gary went up to glasgow tuesday for a funeral yesterday, and was due to fly back this morning. not sure if you guys have heard yet but there's a volcano in iceland thats erupted, and the ash cloud is blowing this way, the whole of the UK airspace is closed right now. so he's stuck in glasgow.
so just me and the dog for the next few days til he can get back!
jenny105
04-15-2010, 10:14 AM
Getting car work done is a pain. I need new front tires (badly) and I keep putting it off. I'm off next Monday so I need to get that done, plus an oil change. I think I'll throw in a haircut too because my hair is seriously getting on my nerves. Too long!
I didn't hear about the volcano. That's crazy! I didn't even know there were volcanoes on Iceland.

04-15-2010, 10:43 AM
pretty much all of north west europe's airspace is closed. for the UK, the originally said it'd be closed from 12pm-6pm today, it then got moved back to midnight, and now its 7am tomorrow. garys going to get a coach back tomorrow night, but he's still got to get to the airport to go pick his car back up too. i dont think this is going to go away soon.
but i'm enjoying a day off and just chilling out :)

Why do I feel like Gary is always getting stuck somewhere? :rotfl:
karentan
04-15-2010, 03:16 PM
because he is!
if he's not stuck in a snow drift, he's stranded at the airport. you would have thought after all that he'd just give up travelling!

i dont want to post too much about it out of respect, but as most of us have her on our FB, i'll re-post her status
Hold the people you love tight, don't let a single day go by without telling them just how much they mean to you, because they can be gone in a heartbeat. Fate took my Bob away from me today. My heart is broken beyond repair, it feels like the other half of me was ripped away.
although we didnt spend too much time with them on the cruise, from the little i did, he seemed a really lovely guy. thoughts are with donna and kelly and the family

I can't log on to facebook at work so I didn't see it. Oh my god. I'm so sorry to hear that. That's terrible. I didn't get to meet them on the cruise but from talking with her on DIS, they all seemed like such nice people. :(

04-17-2010, 07:59 AM
well gary's finally managed to get home, 48 hours or so after he was due home. he gave up waiting for a flight and got the bus back, which seems to have been the best idea, as airspace is closed til at least 1pm tomorrow, and will probably be later than that (they originally said it would only be closed for 6 hours, opening thursday at 6pm). a load of airlines have cancelled all flights til at least monday morning
a few people from the UK disboards are stuck in orlando at the mo and dont know when they'll get home. oh well, if i was going to get stuck anywhere, thats a pretty good place!
jenny105
04-19-2010, 03:18 PM
Glad Gary got home ok. One of the women in another AAA office is stuck in Germany at the moment. They told her hopefully she'll be home by Friday! Luckily she has family there so at least she has a place to stay. I wouldn't mind being stuck in Orlando. I would've went right back to Disney lol.

one of the women at work is stuck in portugal at the mo, and DCL have officially issued a statement about it, as the first of the med cruises is due to sail in 4 days!
jenny105

apparently disney have jumped on the bandwagon too and offered free entry. supposedly the airspace is due to reopen soon, so fingers crossed people will be able to make it home soon.

Awesome! I never got into pin trading. I have one Disney pin and thats from completing the travel agent program. I have TONS of Universal pins because when I went on the fam last year, they gave you a pin for every question you answered correctly. I have about 15 or 20 plus a jacket I won. :rotfl2:

04-24-2010, 08:34 AM
started off with them bugging me about donating to a charity thing, i'd said that i was going to give them money at the end of the month when i got paid, then they started with the snide remarks about if i could afford the ticket to a show then i can afford to give them money. i didnt think that i needed to justify my spending to anyone, and one of them especially (she didnt speak to me for 5 years because she blamed me for her getting pregnant and needing an abortion).
it then ended up with me getting a load of stuff of my chest that's been there for about 9 years, which they didnt like so dont want to know me anymore. oh well, their loss, if they're going to be like that, they're not friends i want around anyway.
waiting for gary to finish getting changed then we're off to london to see Jeff Dunham!!!!!!!!!!! soooooo excited to see this show! i love his comedy central specials!
jenny105
04-24-2010, 08:44 AM
That's so rude! They have no right to say anything about what you spend your money on. No one does! And how is it anybody else's fault if you get pregnant? What's the logic on that one? :confused3 You're better off without that person!
Have fun at the show! He's the guy with the puppets right?

04-25-2010, 04:17 AM
i was getting really wound up about it on friday, but now i've decided i'm better off without those 3 in my life. their loss.

I have tomorrow and Sunday off and it's supposed to be beautiful out. So my friend and I are heading to an outdoor bar tomorrow (they serve awesome sangria!) and on Sunday I'm supposed to have a family get together but I'm not sure what's going on with that.
Peggy (my SIL's mom) had another surgery to fix some of the complications. She's stable but not out of the woods yet.

so hows the sangria?!!
work was good tonight, busier than it has been recently so it made the time go quicker, but meant the store was a lot messier than it normally is, but we left not much after what time we should have done.
day off tomorrow, only thing we've got planned is to wash the cars (boring but necessary, my car is supposed to be white, it not at the mo) and i've gotta go drop my cell phone off to be repaired. its annoying the hell out of me at the mo.
working monday, its a bank holiday :( but its double pay :)

The sangria was awesome! My friend and I split a pitcher and they didn't overload it with ice so it was about 4 glasses each. Yum! That was the first time I'd had dinner there too, their food is really good. Lots of seafood naturally. I had lobster bisque. YUM!
I need to get my carwashed. It's been a long time since the last one. It realllllly needs to be vacuumed!

Yes, you always have to fax in your IATA card. It's a photo id that proves your a TA. Disney always wants it within 48 hours, even if it's just a hold!

AWESOME! :woohoo::banana: If the flights weren't crazy expensive from the US, I'd join you since it's a $25 deal! :rotfl:

now that you've said that, the guy on the phone said that the actual fare was $175, which does work out as $25 per person per day. neat deal!
annoying thing is that the flights from here to barcelona one way cost almost as much as the whole cruise!

Airfare always works out to be that way! :sad2: I want to go to Disneyland and the package isn't bad until you add airfare and it tacks on almost an extra $1000 for two people!! :scared1:
Are we almost at the end of this thread? Don't they only go up to 250 pages?

yeah, we kinda need to swap threads soon!
we were originally looking at a week in WDW, found a good deal, £300 for each of us for hotel and flights, but the park tickets added £230 to that!
its been one of those sucky days at work, had a really bad headache, and got a long string of really rude and ignorant guests. luckily it got better after that though, and back home relaxing now. start work at 6am though :(

Park tickets are always the killer. People are shocked when I tell them the prices of Disney tickets. This ain't your local rinky dink amusement park people!
6am???

karentan
05-06-2010, 11:12 PM
we open at 10, but there's always a shift in from 6am to put the delivery away, stock up, and clean. really should leave now or i'm going to be late! :rolleyes1:

i've just ordered the stuff for the FE exchange on the repo cruise in a month, i dont have enough time to make anything so was going for something cheap(ish) and light, because we've got limited luggage allowance.
so i've ordered 40 pins off ebay, and 20 lanyards. i'm going to put 2 pins on each lanyard and give them out as starter pin trading kits. what do you think?
jenny105
05-09-2010, 08:10 PM
That's a cute idea, I think people will love it! I'm guessing you joined a thread for that cruise already? :)
karentan
05-10-2010, 05:15 AM
yeah i'm over on that one too, but its no way near as fun and active as this one was :(
but it'll still be fun, i hope people like my gift, i only bought cheap lanyards though, as the way i see it is that most of the people will either get the castaway club lanyard or buy their own anyway, its just more of a token lanyard!
