Is it 160 points to get on the Founder's List or 100 for BLT? What is your BEST GUESS as to when the Founder's List will be done (they have all 1000 families)? Any ideas of how quickly it was filled for AKV (they did do one there, didn't they?)....

I am just trying to figure out if we're talking about 6 days, 6 weeks, 6 months, what????

Again, I realize it's just a GUESS!!!!

The first 1000 to purchase 160 or more points at BLT will get their name engraved on the Tempo Fountain. I'd expect that it won't take long for 1000 to purchase the minimum - certainly within a couple of months. I don't think AKV had a finite number of memberships only a finite timeframe to be included.

I wonder how many of the 1000 spots are taken already. It would be a pretty good indication of how sales are going if all 1000 were picked up before sales open to the public. I suppose if you ask a guide, they'll tell you they're selling like hotcakes and there's maybe only 1 or 2 left. I'm not a member yet, so I can only wait and see. But I've been waiting for BLT for years.

I purchased the day after the announcement and told my guide in no uncertain terms that if I wasn't in as a founder; I wasn't in at all and he understood the parameters.

He told me that the day before (day one, I guess) that they had sold just over a hundred founder's contracts. My guide's a pretty straight shooter so I believe him.

Limited by ONLY 1000, my bet is that it ain't gonna last long at all. People can argue about the economy and what-not but these people buying in as founders WANT IN as founders. It's gonna go quick. REAL quick. :goodvibes

I spoke to my guide Friday afternoon and he said that they had between 450-500 on the founders list. He sugggested that I purchase prior to the member cruise if I wanted to be 1 of the 1000.

What does it mean to be a "founder"? You just get your name on the plaque? I think I would rather wait for better incentives, than have my name on a plaque.

I don't recall them doing this for any other resort where they created a founders list? What makes BLT so special? I agree waiting for a better incentive then getting your name on a plaque me.

They also had a founders list promo for AKV.

Sounds like sales are going pretty good. They'll probably get to the 1000 mark before opening sales up to the public. Too bad for me, but I guess I won't have to "jump" on it. Now I'll probably have at least a few months to mull it over and see if I really, really want to join.

I bought the morning of the announcement. My guide told me I was her first BLT sale. She said they were expecting BLT to sell out quickly along the same lines of BCV. I honestly don't remember how fast they sold. I just remember waiting and buying as soon as they were ready to sell to me!

Purchased 200 points at BLT Thursday. My guide said that there were approx. 300 contracts sold then.

What is a founder's list? Sorry if this is a silly question? I'm a pretty new DVC member at AKV.

Dh and I adjusted down slightly on the number of points we initially planned to buy, putting us just under the 160 needed to be listed as founding members. Our guide tried to convince us to spend the extra few thousand so we could be on the fountain, but dh and I told her no thanks. And anyway, I sort of think having a name engraved on something should be strictly for a memorial and the whole idea sort of creeped me out ... found out this a.m. that dh agrees! :rotfl:

The most important thing to us was to get the amount of points we needed at our new home, and we bought in on the first day, so that makes it special to us. Doesn't matter to us if anyone else knows about it or not. ;)

I added on Tuesday morning as the first to purchase BLT points from my guide. I flew down this morning and went over to Saratoga to meet up with my guide and tour the models. WOW!!!!! The pictures and virtual tours do not do it justice. Anyway... I asked him how long he thought it would take to sale out of contracts eligible for founders status and he said they already had enough "presales contracts" to fill all 1000 founders. He added that the presales have been crazy and they are expecting a lot of addons aboard the member cruise, which sets sail tomorrow. I asked if they would receive special incentives on the cruise and he said that they would because all cruises do. So my next question was "how fast do you expect BLT to sale out?" His response - a few months!!! I was expecting something in the neighborhood of a year. Simply amazing!!!!!!!!

We also purchased the day after the announcement and are anxious to be Founders!! :woohoo: Does anyone know how we'll be lined up (in terms of the sales being inputted) on Sunday? I mean, how are they keeping track of who purchased when>.....And, how will it work with the central DVC orders and Doorway to Dreams orders, etc.? Just thinking.....

I just got off the phone with my guide and she told me that as far as she knew the founder's list is still available. Guides were told that they would be notified when it got close to being full and they have not heard that yet.

She said she is so busy doing tours on site down there that she just can't do calls and paperwork at the moment. We did decide to do it after all, but want to be on the founder's list. I sure hope she calls back soon!

She said they are just entering the first contracts now. The cruises don't begin until later in the afternoon, right? Are they going to start taking contracts before the boat even sails???

I guess I thought it would be neat to have our names on something that we think will be around for a long long long time to come so that our grandkids can show their kids and so on.

Has anybody heard of any type of assurances if any are given to be on the list?

Also, does anybody know how payment works? Honestly, our guide is just n/a to answer our questions...do we pay now or put some money down and pay next year (seeing as they are 2009 points)?

If you're financing, you'll need to put a downpayment on your contract, and then you'll start making paments after the contract closes (typically around 6-8 weeks IIRC). Dues don't start 'til Sept. 2009, though. At least that's what our guide told us.

I just spoke to my guide about a half hour ago. There are still founders spots open, but she said she thinks they'll be gone soon. I'd love to be a founder, but it's not in the finances now. I'll just have to hope I can buy in still when I do have the money.

We finally got to speak live with our guide  and bought our 160 point add-on. Now we are just doing the waiting game to see if we made the Founder's List. I know it is not that big of a deal to many, but we thought it was a pretty cool thing. All our guide could tell us was that she would know if we made it in a day or two. I'm not sure exactly what that meant, but I wonder if there is any way other than bugging our guide to verify. We have not yet seen our add-on on the website yet. Well, here's hoping!!

The day that my points showed up I called my guide to double check on the Founder's List. I want to say it was Tuesday of this week. She said that we were good because she mentioned several times how they were going to let them know when the list was close to full and she said nope, you're good because we haven't gotten word that the list is full and we are still taking contracts for it. It sounded pretty reasonable to me....hoping that's the case!

I just talked to my guide who told me, that without any doubt, ONLY current DVC members are allowed to be Founding Members of BLT. Even if there were any spots were left to the general public (which there won't be), they are not allowed to be founding members. AND, he also told me that they sold over 5.4 Million dollars worth of points on the Members only cruise (90% of which was BLT), that didn't even include what has been sold already, or what is waiting to be entered which he says is HUGE!

He said that he personally has paperwork for over 600 contracts, 90% of which are BLT.

I found this all very interesting as he likes to make sure he knows more than us here on the DIS:lmao: . And he made doubly sure the information he gave me is correct by checking with his supervisor's supervisor which he told me is #2 in charge of everything DVC. Just passing along what I was told.

Just some more founders info - when you receive your paperwork, there will be a separate page to sign regarding founding members - if its not in your packet, you aren't a founding member. For those whose purchase was conditioned on founding status, you'll definitely know if you got in when you get your contract.

I bought yesterday and am on the Founders List. I was told it will be closed once the cruise contracts go in. I think there will be more than 1000 of us - our brinck gets smaller LOL

Just curious if the contracts are actually going out already ... :)

I have finally talked my husband into adding on!! :cool1:
I'm thinking 100 points. I tried calling my guide first thing this morning and she is off today.

Couple questions
what is the down payment % for add ons? Is it 5% or 10%?
when would be the soonest that you could use the points (if we wanted to use any next summer, is that possible?)
do you think that because sales appear to be strong that they will have better incentives down the road? DDP?

Thanks!

As an add-on, the down payment is 10%. Points are available to use as of September '09 (when BLT opens) ;)

One of your documents will be titled Tempo Fountain "Founding Families" Tile Acknowledgment. I overlooked it the first two times going through our paperwork.

Now the next question, has anyone been able to get on the website to design their tile yet?
