I'm down 2 pounds this week. I'm excited, because I feel like it's a legitimate loss, rather than fluctuation due to time of day or time of month or whatever...I feel like it's because I really did a good job cutting back on snacking on junk food this week.
The next thing is increasing the water!
I'm off to Maine for the weekend with a group of people. We're going to run the Maine Coast Half. I will TRY not to use the fact that I'm there to exercise turn into my excuse for eating like a pig all weekend....:upsidedow
Have a great, healthy weekend everyone!!!

I lost 1.8 pounds this week! :thumbsup2
Congrats to EVERYONE, losers, maintainers and even if you had a small gain. Just being here and trying hard each and every day is a big accomplishment. Each of us has so much to be proud of no matter what the scale shows.
Hope you're feeling better Vern :flower3:

Hello everyone, Sorry to let everyone down this week, I gained .6 lbs. But spent 3 days in Atlantic City eating poorly. Will do better this week!!!! Good luck with your weighins today red team.
I was a gainer as well, so no worries! We aren't letting anyone down. As lisaviolet always reminds, no matter what the scale says, up down or maintain, it's just a stop on the road of life and we just keep moving forward.
(Hey look at that Lisa, I do listen sometimes! :lmao: )
I had a gain of 1.4. Stinks, but I knew it would be something like that. It's okay, I'm determined to be moving downward this next week.
I have three cakes to make this this weekend. Ack!:scared1:
But the good part about it is that when I am baking this much, I actually do NOT want to eat cake.:thumbsup2
Hope everyone has a great Friday and a super weekend!

No change for me this week. But since I was not feeling well and did not exercise one little bit I am ok with that.
I will be traveling with my daughter for her first gymnastics competition this weekend so I will be gone for the weekend. I will do my best to stay on track eating wise and work on the exercise next week. I typically do weekends off so that won't be out of the norm.

I have no idea how but I am down 7 pounds! I was going to get my “friend when it was time to weigh in to I weighed myself a week before I was due and was at 198. during I was 205 and now am 191 ( 4 days after). So this still would put me at a 7 pound loss. I have been trying really hard this week so I hoe it tis correct.
I’m not sure if I trust my scale so I will weigh myself again at the pediatrician today. ;)

Hi RED TEAM :wave2: ,
I hope everyone is doing well. I only lost .6 lbs, but have been exercising 45 min - 1 hr every day after I drop the kids off to school. I just need to watch more of what I eat and of course drink more water, which I keep forgetting to do. :guilty:
My husband and I are going out for his birthday tonite and I am hoping that I do well on my eating. Not always easy to do though. Oh well...I just have to keep exercising.
Keep it up RED TEAM and I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Another loss of just .4 lbs. A loss is a loss though that is the way I'm looking at it. I know I didn't workout like I should so I am going to change that this week.
Way to go Rosemary on your 7lbs!!! You are probably going to be our teams biggest loser of the week.

Hi everyone!
I lost almost 4 pounds this week! That's totally awesome, but I'm even happier about my exercise. I did three miles yesterday, mostly walking with a bit of running, and I beat my previous time by 5 and a half minutes!! I'm under the time required for the Everest Expedition!! YAY! I'm so excitied!
Sounds like everyone else had a good week too! If you maintained, or even gained, remember that this is a journey. It's never going to go exactly the way you want. Learn what you can and move on! Tomorrow is another day!

Whoops. I forgot me!!
I'm down two pounds. But I'll tell you what - I came on the BL this time to learn a lesson. Actually an all around lesson - not only about weight. To not try to be, hmmm perfect. I'm an all or nothing girl. And that doesn't work well. In that, I want to be okay posting gains and maintains. That's an issue with me. It used to make me want to quit. Not anymore. And just to know that it's okay. Sometimes the scale simply doesn't show what one has done. And sometimes life takes over. And emotions take over.
Either way it's all good. We're here. Onward.
A new day. :lovestruc
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

I lost .5 this week. I was pretty good this week but had a bad eating day on Tuesday night so I guess that weight is hanging around. Now I have to eat good this weekend to weigh for our BL contest at work. Tomorrow we are taking 10 year DD and her friend and our 2 other children to the zoo to celebrate DD's birthday. So I am hoping that I can be good eating out that day. Surely, all the walking for the zoo will count for something??

I' ve lost an even 2.0# and very happy about it. Fell off twice, once for pizza and chardonnay and another night for bruschetti and chardonnay. I'm heading out again tonight for dinner but I think I've already decided on seafood stirfry and I promise I'll only eat half the rice:) I haven't exercised at all this week because I am working 10 hour days and there just isn't enough time (or energy for that matter) ~~ it's a new part-time job 16hours/week as a prepcook on top of my regular full time job and I'm exhausted when I get home so I know it's a real workout all in itself. Good luck everyone! Brenda

I'm down 2lbs too......
Have stayed within my food points limits and exercised an average of 30 minutes cardio every day (in fat burning zone), but weights 2x this week. Tomorrow is my distance training day...shooting for 3.14 miles in 60 minutes. I made my exercise goal this week by doing 2 miles minimum every day. WHOHOO!! :)

Howdy all!
I am a new member as of today! Forgot to join last week.
I joined the local gym last year at this time and lost about 20 lbs over the next 6 months. We then went on the DCL May repo and I haven't been back to the gym on a consistent basis since! ( I did find that weight I thought I lost tho!)
I need some rear end kicking!
Hope to get to know you all!

WTG everyone on a great first week! Lose, maintain, or gain, we're all in this together and some days are good, some ok, and others not so good. The great thing is we get to get up tomorrow and start all over again with a clean slate!
I was shocked when I saw a 3 pounds loss this week. I had a really tough week keeping my the Food Troll under the bridge where it belongs and it reared it's ugly head more than a couple of times. I have no idea if the loss could be a weight fluctuation....I'll get that all figured out as I weigh myself more regularly. The scale and I are long lost relatives...we usually only see one another once a year and it's strictly a formality. So this weighing in thing is going to take some getting used to.
I do know that seeing the scale move down has inspired me enough to turn down cookies and chips at work, pie at my Mom's, and Halloween candy while out shopping. Now I'm off to put some time in on the treadmill.
RED TEAM RULES!!!!

Congrats to everybody on their loses and to those maintaining.
If you gained some, don't give up! You will find your niche and where you are comfortable.
Keep up the good work!
I am down 3.0 lbs this week which surprised me. I promised to do the WII excercises 3 times this week and only did it once:sad1: But I have been busy at work which is pretty physical so I know I've burning calories that way. My main thing has been changing my eating habits, drinking lots of water, not nibbling while cooking, although I did eat a few things this week that probably weren't best for me, but they were so good! That's the hardest for me and I guess everybody else, missing some of our favorite foods. The things I love most are not the best for me and I know what my goal is.
The above is working for me. 9 lbs lost in 3 weeks.
I will be holding steady for the next week (the power of positive thinking).
Go Red Team!

Hey fellow losers (and I mean that in the nicest way)! I joined late and finally caught up reading the week 1 thread. I am 55 and may be the oldest one on the red team, but I sure don't think of myself as old!!!
I am a single mother of DD16. About 10 years ago, my DD hounded me to quit smoking until I finally did. I was not overweight at the time, but decided to allow myself to eat whatever if it meant getting past the cigarettes. Long story short, I think I replaced one addiction with another. For many years, I felt I was still better off having given up the cigarettes, but now there are so many study on how obesity is a killer, too.
Over the last few years, I have been a yo-yo, especially with the same 20 pounds. My initial goal is to lose those 20 pounds (yet again) and get under 200 and stay under 200 as I work toward my ultimate goal of 150.
I admit I am a bit intimidated reading some of the posts where people talk about running for miles. I doubt if I could run a block! Funny thing, one of my life goals is to participate in a WDW Marathon. One of these days!!! On the plus side, if I really get moving, I should have a good chance of taking off some weight.
I do belong to Curves and was going 3 or 4 times a week for the past few months and I was doing well on my eating. Then I went on a 3 week vacation to DL and on the Eastbound Panama Cruise. I only gained 2 pounds which I thought was a major victory, but then I failed to get back on track once I got home and have gained another few pounds.
So the BL Red team has come to my rescue just in time! I look forward to our time together on this journey toward better health!

:welcome: I also gained weight after I stopped smoking almost 4 years ago. It's amazing how quickly one bad habit turns into another but I did the same thing, found myself reaching for food instead of cigarettes.
Good luck with your weight loss...you can do it! ::yes:: You've definitely come to the right place for support and motivation. I look forward to checking in here every day, even if I don't always post. It's a great place to talk to others who are going through the same thing.

I also gained after I quit smoking and feel I replaced one habit with another. At work when I would have been having a cigarette, I sat inside at the table where all the SNACKS were. popcorn:: Now I have a whole new habit to break. (But it's not like I didn't have weight to lose before I quit, because I had quite a few and just added more.)
And yep! I am in awe of the folks that run and run and run. I also have hopes of being able to participate in a WDW race event. Right now I'm just a walker...and haven't made a 15 minute mile, but I'll get there! I'm .7mpg faster than I was when I started, and it's good to see that number going up. I faithfully journal what I'm doing each day so I can see my progress. Slow, but steady, but I'm getting faster! So, dont' worry about running anywhere yet...just start out where you're comfortable and it'll all come together!:yay:

Hello fellow team mates! Everyone did such an awesome job this week - and you know what? Whethere you lost, maintained, or gained - I bet you were way more aware of what you were eating and doing with your body this week, right?
I lost .5 - which I'm so excited about, because I started my monthly today, and usually I have a big ole' gain, so I'll take my .5 with happiness!
I didn't know if anyone here uses a Wii Fit for exercise? Jillian Michales is coming out with a game to use with the Wii Fit balance board - see it here:
http://www.amazon.com/Jillian-Michaels-Fitness-Ultimatum-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001DDBBSS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1221915671&sr=8-1
If the link doesn't work, it's called "Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009", comes out in October.
Looks interesting - I wonder if she'll yell at you? ;)

Congratulations to all our losers here, some pretty impressive numbers up there.
:grouphug: Hugs to those who maintained or gained. We are all in this together and we will all have our ups and downs. Sticking with it and not giving up is what will get us to our goals.
I am down 1.2 this week, and thrilled after a couple of big snacking nights. I have been exercising this week, either watp tapes, or walking outside, and that saved me. I'm switching back to ww flex from core, since I didn't stay on core for the whole week, and am going to start journalling every bite again.
:welcome: to our new team mates! Keep up the great work and have a wonderful weekend.:cheer2:

First off...howdy to MickeyMagic! We seem to be starting about the same weight with a similar goal. GOOOO us! As to the Disney Marathon...if you are exercising anyway (even walking) you might consider signing up for the Princess 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) or the Princess 5k next March. That is how I am motivating myself to exercise everyday...I signed up for the 1/2. Even got my mum motivated to sign up for the 5k. We don't run...she walks everything and I 'jog'/walk (jog a minute, walk for 2). We aren't fast, but we'll get to the finish. As a shorter distance, you'd be able to complete it. Drop me a msg if you have questions or want more info. :)
NOW my frustration...RETAINING WATER!!! *arrrrrgh* the bane of my existance! I have been working out at the gym everyday, averaging 30-45 minutes of cardio, in the 'fat burning' zone (140bpm-160) for extended periods, PLUS lifting weights 3 days a week...and after a 2lb loss on Thursday, maintained for the weigh in, I've GAINED a pound today. And I know it is water weight because I feel 'puffy' today (my lips feel like they have been botoxed!). It isn't a hormonal time.... but we had tinned baked beans last night with dinner (Publix brand)...AND I had bath yesterday as opposed to a shower. I always soak up bath water...and the beans had a moderate amount of sodium in them. *sigh*
So aside from just never eating anything from a tin or that I don't cook myself without salt, and never again luxuriating in the joy that is a warm bath after a hard workout....any suggestions for avoiding or getting rid of water weight?
Thanks in advance gang!

-- Kathy
Hi Kathy!!!!
Welcome. Good to meet you.
Lisa
Hi MickeyMagic!
Congrats on the quitting smoking. Well done.
And welcome to the RED team!!!

My in-laws live in Midland, I visit quite often!!!!!!!!!:)

gudrench3 Welcome to the Red Team!!! Why don't you tell us abit about yourself and your goals for this thing or uh something:)
And yes we are the Flaming Hot Red team and by the end we will the Super Flaming Red Hot Hotties...
Okay, I will...thanks CharityLynn!!! I'm 28 years old and am wanting to loose about 60-70 lbs. I've been yo-yoing with my weight too much, so this time, I want to lose and keep it off for good. I'm making a lifestyle change this time. I've recently decided to become a vegetarian. If anyone has any great vegetarian recipes, I'd love to hear them. I'm trying really hard to walk at least two miles every day at work. A co-worker and I go to the basement of our building twice a day and try to get in a mile each break...we call it our Smoke Break! :rolleyes1
I'm not married, and the only children that I have are two kitty cats, Hay Hay and Smokey.
Anyway, I joined this group mainly because anything that makes me think of Walt Disney World and getting to go back makes me so happy. For example, the other night at the gym, I was walking on the treadmill and desperatly wanted to get off and go home, and the John and Kate +8 Goes to Disney World show came on, so I made myself stay on through that show. And I never did notice my feet hurting during that show! :confused3

Hi all-
Excellent results! I'm so proud of our efforts! And I agree -- even a .1 loss will never be an "only" -- it's a victory!
I'm down 1.5 pounds this week! And I'm now under 150 for the first time in ages and ages!!!! :thumbsup2

This is going to sound wacko, but drink more water!!!:drinking1 You gotta flush out the extra sodium and the only way to do it is with more water. I know it seems counter intuitive, but that is why we drink so much water each day, to keep hydrated and flush out what we don't want. I know for myself that when I eat out or eat something really salty, that I need to drink way more water than usual.
Hope this helps!! Keep up the good work!!

Good Morning all!
So, so, SOOO proud of everyone! YAY RED!!!!!!
I've been doing very, very badly food wise. I KNOW I am but just can't stop myself. My water cooler died, so I'm having a hard time getting my water in, no excuse, just the facts maam ;) Thursday I over-did it in the morning, then didn't eat lunch, then by the time the kids were eating pizza...I was starving and ate 3 pieces! Which is fine..but then we had a dinner out at a fancy shmancy hotel, the Ritz, in a Ramadaan Tent, a company event. I ate fried shrimp, prime rib, dessert. Ugh. Friday was better, yesterday was better. Today I will be back on track. AND its that-time-of-the-month so I'm all puffed up and craving chocolate :scared1:
But this is a new week...babysteps...forward...
I DID walk the dog for 20 min last night with my 8yr old son! Babysteps!
Have a great week everyone!

I have been up and down this week food & exercise wise. I had a few days were I couldnt exercise because of work. And then Friday my food went all wacky. To top it off a truck driver (I work in a manufacturing plant most days) brought me in hot chocolate. Approx 400 calories of chocolately goodness. That just put me over the top. But I got back on track yesterday and did very well.
I got in 1 hour of exercise on Friday. And 1 hour 45 mins yesterday. i love having my treadmill (now that I can use it) because I can just turn it on jump on and walk while I watch TV. In this case i watched the second half of the biggest loser from tuesday.
Today the plan is to get in at least 30 mins on the treadmill and 45 mins in home walking DVD.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday. And remember that this is lifestyle change and in life things can be unpredictible. We all just have to make the best choice for the situation. And there are no failures just bumps in the road.

Well I'm getting sick:( Veronica did you pass them germs this way? LOL Actually my daughter has been sick so it was going to happen sooner or later. I have zero energy and my whole body is achy. I'll do my best to exercise and eat right hopefully its just a 24 hour thing and it be gone by tomorrow.
Haven't done horrible on food but definitly not great either through the weekend. But I can't taste anything right nowso I don't really want to eat.

Charity, I swear it wasn't me:rolleyes1 I am still battling this stupid cold thing. But I did go running this morning. 5mile run, 2 mile walk. Ran with FIL and hubby cousin who was home visiting. She made goal at WW 3 weeks ago. She is a better runner than I am, but I enjoy going with her.
Trying very hard to get back on track-today is my day though!! Food has been dicey the last few days, but I am really buckling down to do better.
For those who had posted that they felt intimidated by those of us who run, please don't!!! I was once unable to run at all, but stuck to a program similar to C25k that got me to where I am. It was not an overnight thing, and I am in no way going to win any races any time soon. But it is great exercise and I tend to push myself very hard to improve. I am not a body built for running, but I continue at it because I do enjoy it and the results. I hope that my "success" at running helps to inspire someone else to start, or keep going with it. I still feel "inferior" when I go to races and events because I am not thin and super fit, but WHO CARES?? I am out there for myself and no one else. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
The only run you can't finish is the one you never start!

I plan on starting to use the Walk Away The Pounds DVD's begining today. I'm also going to seriously attempt to drink my water every day. [/COLOR]
how do you like WATP? i  them
I did three miles yesterday, mostly walking with a bit of running, and I beat my previous time by 5 and a half minutes!! I'm under the time required for the Everest Expedition!! YAY! I'm so excitied!
:yay: :yay: :yay: that is fantastic!
We're here. Onward.
A new day. :lovestruc
this was worth repeating ::yes:: and i may need to hear it often! i get hung up too on not following a plan 'perfectly', or caving and binging on a food and then feeling crappy, etc. has anyone watched How To Look Good Naked show? did i mention this already? sorry if I did but it is a wonderful show on accepting our bodies with all our 'flaws' without negative self-imagary....
I admit I am a bit intimidated reading some of the posts where people talk about running for miles. I doubt if I could run a block! Funny thing, one of my life goals is to participate in a WDW Marathon. One of these days!!! On the plus side, if I really get moving, I should have a good chance of taking off some weight.
i would like to echo to not feel intimidated! we ALL started new and I admire any and all of us who get out and put the steps in! whether it's jogging, running, walking, wogging, or whichever way is individually preferred. i myself call it 'powerwalking' i used to run but i hated it and developed tendonitis. which led to my walking option and discovered the stride is 'much more better' as Captain Jack says. it works best for me and you too will find a style that works for you! one day I aspire to cross the WDW marathon finish line too.....
! I am in awe of the folks that run and run and run. I also have hopes of being able to participate in a WDW race event. Right now I'm just a walker...and haven't made a 15 minute mile, but I'll get there! I'm .7mpg faster than I was when I started, and it's good to see that number going up. "just a walker" :scared1: don't sell yourself short! or the sport! :cool1: i know you didn't mean it 'that way'.....walking burns calories, builds muscle and gets a heart a pumping too! and cyber high five on the pace increase, that is great work! have you ever tried 'speed intervals'? it was a way I found to speed up a bit. let me know if you want me to elaborate.
PA -- i just multi-quoted (and yes i just learned how too!) when i read a post that i had to add my .02 :upsidedow i don't want anyone feeling offended or left-out by my replies :flower3: each and every teammie here is important to me and i need you ALL! :grouphug:
ok -- i'll try to make this brief  i am home from a fab time in Vegas :woohoo: and joyfully i report i only left a small portion of my 'gambling entertainment' fund there. but i did manage to bring home 5 lbs of fluff! yes i WI today 5 lbs heavier than my initial WI. (I missed last week on vacation) so today i've been doing very well all day. we are heading out to grab a bite of dinner and i'm determined to order a salad and keep it small for toppings. i have been chugging water all day. exercise didn't happen as i'm a bit jet-lagged, but tomorrow I will get my endurance LW (long walk) done that was scheduled for saturday. also I meet with a trainer at the gym in the evening. i did enjoy some very heavenly meals.....and desserts.....but time to get moving! i have 2 weeks before we go on our impromptu trip to WDW and i really want to shed that 5 before hand!
i'm envious of you repo cruisers!! how was it????? too much????

And remember that this is lifestyle change and in life things can be unpredictible. We all just have to make the best choice for the situation. And there are no failures just bumps in the road.
I really like this statement. The fact that this is a lifestyle change and not just some quick fix to lose a few pounds. I think for a while that was the hardest thing for me to accept, that this is something I'm going to be doing for the rest of my life. Now that I have accepted that, everything from exercise and how I look at food, seems much more beneficial to me now.
My day has been a good one but no exercise. I don't think I'll do any on Sundays and will make that my day off. Food has been excellent and I'm really happy about that. For breakfast I had a Slimfast when I first woke up and some high fiber oatmeal a little later. For lunch I had a 1/2 cup beans seasoned only with pepper with a small and I mean small piece of cornbread. I had a pack of 100 calorie snacks this afternoon and just finished a 6 inch veggie sub from Subway. Water has been about 80oz and I plan on not drinking much more the rest of the evening or I'll be awake all night going to the bathroom.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Red Team :goodvibes

I had grand plans of eating good this weekend even with company over and going to the zoo. But I didn't quite succeed. I even ate birthday cake yesterday. My scale was up about 2.5 pounds today. Thankfully, I have all week to take those off. It won't look good for my weigh in at work today. :confused3

Happy Monday morning everyone! My weekend was somewhat successful as far as food goes. I did eat a bit of junk, but not the amount I usually would...I saved the splurges for stuff I really wanted! The half marathon was great, the weather was wonderful, and afterward I spotted a girl in a W.I.S.H. shirt...I was so excited! I introduced myself, and she was running with a friend who is also here on the boards, so I got to meet 2 WISHers! It was so cool to see some of these people in real life! What a great way to top off the day.
It looks like overall we had a pretty good first week. I'm anxious, too, to know when we found out how our team did against the others.
For me, it will be about pushing the water this week...GO TEAM!:cheer2:

Food was okay this weekend, exercise was non existant, but my daughter did wonderful for her first competition ever. She was very calm and focused which I was so happy about. Her scores were: Vault: 8.875, Bars: 8.35, Beam: 8.325, Floor: 8.85. Her All Around score was 34.4.
She is thrilled. Bars and Beam are her hardest events and she has been working so hard on those. She said the beam was wobbly and shook while they were doing their routines, but she was the only one to stay on the whole routine and finish in the required time.
She has qualified for Zones (needed 32 AA score) and almost qualified for States (need 35 AA score). She was hoping for Zones and can now see that States is possible.
Next competition on Saturday and she wants to qualify for States at this one.
As for today:
Food = good and on track
Exercise = 20 minutes on ellyptical
Water = 36 ounces and counting

I had a pretty good weekend beyond feeling yucky. I'm starting to feel better now. I've had a horrible day today, not because of food or exercise although those weren't great either.
My son's ear was hurting so he woke me up at 5am. So first thing in the morning I made him a Dr. Appointment. His doctors office is pretty far because we never changed doctors for him when we moved. (love the office) anyways on our way there we get a flat tire, on the highway!!!! So scary. A nice guy picked us up, I know another  but he was nice and dropped us off near the doctors office.
Went in found out he has Swimmer's ear, without swimming..:confused3 He's in a lot of pain but he's alright. We get a tow for the van. My step dad goes to put our spare (which wasn't in the van but at home in garage:rolleyes1 ) only to find out that our other front tire is really bad (showing medal..) and the spare has a nail in it!
So I had to go into our Disney Money to pay for 2 new tires.:sad2: :sad1: :sad2: Now I have to tell my husband about the money and 2 new tires.
So yeah not good.

And what Tracy didn't tell you is that she ROCKED this half marathon! :cool1: It about killed me (it was my first and I have only been running for 6 months), but she is an absolute goddess! You are totally lucky to have her on your BL team!
Here is a pic of us after the race. This is Joanne (groovygirls here on the boards), me in the middle (Erika/3DisneyKids), and Tracy.
Joanne and I only met that morning as well, though we had PMd here on the boards and knew that we would each be at this race. Tracy was a great surprise and I am so glad that she came up and introduced herself!

Hi Erika!
So Tracy - I got a sneak preview of this pic on another thread. So I've learned many things. One, you're cute!!:lovestruc and the most important item - ummmm - where's the weight to lose?:rolleyes1 ;)
Loved seeing ya.

PatsGirl as in Patriots Girl :cheer2: Went to the Patriots game yesterday :scared1: and might have to change my screen name, j/k. Love my football so PatsGirl seemed appropriate.
Had a so-so week foodwise and never had much time to exercise. Did manage 2 15-minute walks yesterday and a friend convinced me to walk/jog with her for 2 1/2 miles today (took 50 minutes). I haven't jogged in 30 years so I'm off to take 3 advil and get into bed, lol. I've been a non-smoker for 10 years and I must admit I was a bit surprised at my inability to jog for more than a few minutes at a time:sad2:

HI
Well I had no exercise over the weekend but that is okay. Food was not too bad, I work hard to keep my portions down.
Today, 45 minutes for 3.3 mile run outside.
:thumbsup2
As far as my screen name, well like most I have combined my first name, (lynn), with the beginning of my middle name (louise). I really needed something catchy and easy to remember.
Have a great Tuesday!

Vern is the nickname I go by with my family and select friends. If you remember the Ernest movies from the 80's where he was always saying "Hey Vern" to the neighbor you never saw, that is where it is from. RDH is for registered dental hygienist, which is what I do.

My DIS screen name.... I totally go blank when I need to create user names. And if I come up with something that seems really clever, it's taken already. So the brainstorm  behind my name is I'm from Illinois and I was planning my trip to see the Mouse when I joined...and so we have IlliniMouse.
I didn't have much luck dodging the food today. Someone had candy corn mixed with peanuts today and I found myself eating those. Then someone else brought in this swiss chees/almond dip and crackers. Then at my Mom's I found myself eating cookies she had on the table. I wanna know why food sitting in front of me finds its way into my mouth 90% of the time. It's like my brain goes on autopilot and food jumps in my mouth. I need to stop that!!!!
Keep up the good work everyone!!!

OK, so the sah part was my initials before I was married, and the bushka part is from a nickname I had as a toddler...my aunts and uncles were dressing me up and when they were done they said I looked like a babushka....a russian grandmother...at least that is the story they have told me. I think my mom even has a picture of it somewhere!
The last couple days weren't so good food wise but today was better and tomorrow will be even better still! Had a fantastic WW recipe today...chimichangas! Yum! They are pretty easy to make and taste great for only 6 points or so each = 300 calories.
Talk soon,

Hello RED TEAM!
I did my weigh in for WW this morning and I'm down another lb! The eating hasn't been great so I was really happy with that. I'm way motivated today after seeing the scale down:cool1:
Last night dinner was a huge salad with a grilled chicken breast cut up on top and a bunch of watermelon. THEN I went to a "girls night out" at one of my neighbors house. UGH. Cheese, chocolate, cheese, WINE,cheese, crackers. You get the idea:lmao: So I was surprised at the good news on the scale and won't be surprised if Friday I'm up!
All in all I'm doing well food wise and its working.

I actually got up and jogged this morning. I've really been putting off my marathon training. I've gained half of what I lost last Friday. I better get back on track if I'm going to be down this Friday.

:surfweb: morning everyone
i pulled this off the BL6 sticky:
* Monday night or Tuesday morning on the weekly team thread an official announcement is made naming our Biggest Loser superstars. The top ten losers for the week on each team will be named according to the percentage of weight lost for the week. The #1 Biggest Loser on each team for the week gets to claim and proudly display the following clippie for the week of their reign.
yesterday was a great workout day for me. today my chore is yard work so i'm hoping to burn lots of calories :thumbsup2 foodwise -- i'm doing much better than i had, but i i need to start journaling again. ok, i'll get it out today and commit to recording every bite for this day. i'm really trying to stay focused
screen name -- I registered on DIS a long long time ago, i think like in 2000? anyhow, my DH works in IT and told me not to use anything resembling my real name, so i thought "Ohio Mom" and there you go. unfortunately i have this thing where i don't push the shift key often (as you can see) so no capitalization and now folks think i'm "oohhh Mom" in sarcastic teenage whiny voice :rotfl: really -- i guess i'm both!
speed intervals -- i don't have an official plan in front of me but this is what i did. using my Garmin/stopwatch I would warmup for maybe 10 mins, then do intervals of 1 min 'speed' where i'd really concentrate on my form and push my speed, than 4 mins of 'normal' speed. The key here is to maintain your pace and not slow down on the longer interval. I'd loop that however long than a 5-10 min cooldown. What this does, I believe, is creates 'muscle memory' know when we hear if you do the same exercise all the time it becomes less effective. this way i used it to my advantage. as the one minute becomes easier you can shorten your slower interval until you feel maybe you can walk 3-4 mins at a fast pace and then switch out. like 3-4 mins fast, 2 mins slow. There may be a specific formula or training program but i just went with what i felt my body was up to for the day. always pushing just a little though so that i felt like i had accomplished too. play around with different timing to find one that suits you, i don't think there is a magic number, make sense?
off i go to make some egg beaters and turkey sausage for breakfast :goodvibes
HAVE A GREAT DAY ON PLAN EVERYONE!! YOU ARE WORTH IT AND YOU WILL FEEL SO GOOD AT THE END OF THE DAY KNOWING YOU ACCOMPLISHED ANOTHER DAY ON THE RIGHT PATH IN YOUR JOURNEY!!

Morning all! I am starting the day off right with a granola bar, multivitamin and bottle of water. I will be having leftover chimichangas for lunch and stirfry with rice for dinner. I am hoping to be able to measure everything and not go over my ww points for the day. I am also hoping to get some exercise in for the day. Have a great one everyone!

I'm doing ok with my eating this week, and great with my exercise. I did 5 miles this morning - not running yet, but 5 miles is 5 miles.
My screenname is my beloved cat. I lost him in 2002, but he's still my favorite and I still miss him dearly. I love my other animals too - but, much like love and children, he will always be my first.
Hope everyone is having a great week!

kinda quiet today -- just thought i'd check in while i entered my lunch into sparkpeople. did some yard work and convinced myself to go take a 30-40 min bike ride before i shower. see what you all inspire me to do?
QOTD -- physically I would say that I like my waist, the fact that i seem to keep an 'hourglass' look no matter what weight i've yo-yo'ed too
characteristically I would say i'm proud and like the mother and wife that I work at everyday to be the my best at for the ones I love dearest

Question of the day....What I like about myself physically are my legs. No matter how heavy I've been my legs have never been big and have always looked nice.
Characteristically I like the fact that I'm a good wife, mom and friend. I'm a good listener and am always there for people when they need someone to talk to.

Hey Losers!
I hope you are enjoying our challenge so far. I am completing our final weekly tabulations so look for my official announcement later this evening. It will name our weekly Biggest Losers. But for now I have some things I need to discuss with everyone.
First a gentle reminder about weight reports.
*Send a report every week. I have seen folks on their team threads talking about their week but they have not reported to me.
*Include your weight in pounds each week. Saying you lost 2 pounds makes more work for me because I have to find your weight from last week and then subtract the two pounds to get this weeks weight.
*I do not need a running total of what your weight is doing. ie initial weight 150 lbs, week 1 - 148 lbs, week 2 - 145 lbs. Just tell me your weight at that weigh in. If you also want to include how you did for the week (I lost 2 pounds) that is OK. It can help me check and make sure I have the same results for you. Reporting your loss is optional and not required.
*Always include what team you are on. If your PM includes your team in your siggie that can speak for you. I do have a chart of who is on what team but it takes time for me to look you up. If you forget your team another message is not necessary because I will use my chart. I do not need more messages to get through on weigh in days.
*If you use email aways include your DIS name and team.
*I appreciate the thoughts included with your weight reports but just keep it short and sweet. Please keep in mind that I can not respond to all of them. There just is not enough hours in the day and DH thinks I DIS WAY too much already.
*If you are late send the report anyway. I will include your progress if I can for the week.
*If you know you will miss a weigh in please let me know. I worry very much when I do not hear from you.
*There is never a need to apologize for your weight. If you gain do not skip your report because you think it will hurt your team. Be honest, be accountable, report anyway. Then regroup and try your hardest to do better the next week. This is not a sprint to the finish. This is an endurance race. For some of us the race will last longer than for others. We need to get to our destinations with a slow and steady pace. There will be bumps and obstacles on the way and we are all here to help each other along.
Now on to other matters. In her initial weight report last week Pickles521 from the Red Team asked me "Are you also wanting to lose weight? Or do you do this because you've been there?" Losers let me tell you why I do what I do.
I am a DIS lurker. Doing this forces me to be more involved than I would normally be. Every week I post results and get to talk to you. I want to inspire you and let you know that YOU CAN DO IT. I have not 'been there, done that' I am right in the trenches with you. I have well over 100 pounds to lose.
I am a 49 year old grandma of two. All three kids are grown and gone. I live in MD and they all live out west. Right now DHs business is doing better that it has in the 28 it has been in existence. I have the luxury of staying home and my only job is to make his life easier so he can run the business. I help a little in the office and goof around alot. Life is sweet and I want to be around to enjoy it for a long long time so I have to lose weight to get healthy.
So now lets talk about you. As a numbers freak I love to examine and compare numbers. Let's take a look at the initial makeup of our Biggest Loser teams.
team-------------Black----Blue----Red
participants-------48-----47-----47
not reporting-------3-----2------3
weigh ins----------45-----45-----44
125 pounds or less---0-----0-----1
126-150 ------------0-----2-----5
151-175 ------------2----14-----9
176-200-------------7----12-----8
201-225 -----------13-----4-----8
226-250 -----------12-----4-----6
251-275 ------------7-----3-----3
276-300-------------2-----3-----4
301-325 ------------1-----2-----0
326-350 ------------1-----1-----0
total---------------45----45----44
total weight----9111.0---9220.3---9009.6
average weight--202.5----204.9----204.8
So there is our staring point. A total of 142 participants. How many will make it to the end? Make a commitment today to finish this challenge no matter what. Yes it takes work, yes it is hard. But remember YOU ARE WORTH IT!
You will only get out of this challenge what you put into it. If you take it seriously and strive to make positive changes in your life I guarantee that you will see results. They may not be immediate or drastic but positive changes will help you meet your weight loss goals.
Remember as MelanieC from the blue team (spoiler - one of our week 1 Biggest Loser Superstars) says 'It's a journey, not a destination!' There is much we have to learn on our journey to good health. Enjoy the journey and savor the sights along the way. Enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow losers that are also on their own journey. I'm happy to be traveling with you and wish you success as we move forward on our individual paths.
Stay tuned for the official announcement coming this evening!!
Keep up the great work losers!!

2 gains totaling 2.1 lbs
2 maintains
27 losses totaling 53.9 lbs

If you include it in your signature, a post, or a report to me I will use it to recognize you. If you prefer me not to use your first name just let me know. If you would like me to know your first name include it with your weight report.
Keep in mind these percentages are the percentage of weight lost this week. It is computed by dividing your weight lost for the week by your weight at the beginning of the week. I strive to be thorough in my calculations but remember I am human. If you have a concern then contact me.

Food so far this week has been pretty good, exercise not so good. I will be walking on the treadmill tonight while BL is on which alot better than eating chips while watching like I did last time it was on. Keep up the good work. Lisa

We are all winners for participating, so let's stick to it and see this task to the end.
Question of the day: Well there are a few things I like about myself. The one thing I like most about myself is that I have been blessed to be in a career or job that suits me very well. I am good at it and well I have never thought of work as "work". I only wish that everyone loved their job like me. I am also blessed to have a wonduer loving husband as well as a beautiful daughter.

I like the fact that I can multi-task and keep a calendar in my head. Between home, kid's schools, and business this is something that I do well. I like the fact that I can keep everyone & my business organized and on schedule. I juggle it all pretty well:)
I also like the fact that I am staying focused on losing weight. I am eating healthy things, but not exercising enough. I have been concentrating on healthy eating and that has been working so far. Now I need to watch my portion sizes and exercise more. My goal this week is to work on the exercising and lowering my portion sizes.
So, I can find a few things that I like about myself right now.:yay:

I think the thing I like best about myself is my ability to make children comfortable and feeling secure. I don't take guff, but I am kind and friendly and talk to them just like I would any other intelligent human being. They are a lot smarter than we give them credit for!
Good luck this week everyone. I am going to go pack my gym bag for tomorrow. I have been slacking on the exercise front so need to get that going again!

i was a no-report as i was out of town, and seeing everyone's progress keeps me in check b/c i fear i will show a gain this week. not sure i can flush the remaining 3.5 lbs out in 3 days! but i'll give it a shot!
today is a 'day off' in my workout routine. i was going to do some yoga, but i pulled my back a bit gardening yesterday so i'm going to give it a rest. this means i have to focus extra hard on what i eat and not eat empty calories!

My support team are my husband and mother (on the blue team), however, I also support myself!

My support system for this journey is definitely my husband. He never fails to tell me each day how great he thinks I'm doing and how beautiful he thinks I am. But, besides just the compliments he pays me, he's always encouraging me to keep trying and to not ever give up when I get upset with how things are going. He offers to exercise with me, won't eat out anyplace that doesn't have a good menu for me, etc. It would be darn near impossible for me to do this without him by my side cheering me on.

Question of the Day - Wednesday:
Who is your support system for weight loss/ getting healthy
I have a great friend who is an inspiration. In January she quit smoking, drinking and eating. She has lost 105 lbs!!! She has about 50 to go and loses 2-3 lbs every week. She is my support via e-mail!
Also, I started my whole family on Weight Watchers. Unfortunately my children and DH are overweight right along with me. My boys are being TROOPERS and having the whole family working together and supporting each other has been really fantastic. I really, really need to do this for my boys and their health. I am determined to get the whole family healthy and keep us there.
Doing well eating wise, still not excercising. We leave for Jordan in one week. We will be walking a bunch there and snorkeling for a day and a half. When I return my classes start at the new health center, so I will kick it up a notch then!
Keep up the good work RED TEAM!
Good night from the desert,

my support system is a group of WISH buddies that has been emailing together for like over 5 years now. It's my Mom-- AlreadyexcitedGrammy, anniet, TammyNC, and my aunt and cousin. They aren't on WISH as much though i've seen annie and tammy popping on recently. beyond that my DH and DDs are very supportive, and sometimes Mom and I go an extra step to stay accountable and encourage each other.
just got on sparkpeople and my fear came true, i have eaten all my allowed calories for the day and haven't had dinner yet. actually i'm over 100 calories at that. i was really struggling this afternoon and had 2 too many snacks ;) i didn't want to journal and see i was done, but i made myself stay real and honest. now that i know i'll have either some low cal veggie soup or salad with fat-free dressing, keeping it as light as i can, and just move on until tomorrow. i guess i just wanted to say i'm proud that i followed through my journaling today instead of skipping it knowing i didn't eat perfectly, but perfect just isn't my everyday!

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks--AGAIN
Well it is inevitable. I have screwed up big time. This is the first time but I am sure it will not be the last time. I feel terrible. I am here with my tail between my legs. I have roses and chocolate - well maybe not the chocolate as a peace offering. My sincerest apologies go out to IngridRalph for messing up her team assignment. I notified her and assigned her to the Blue team. In my records and spreadsheet I had her on the Blue team. In error I reported to the team captains that she was on the Red team. She was then welcomed to the Red team and has settled in here with you.
She was not a Blue team superstar but of course she is a Red team superstar. This error may change the team percentages some but I have not straightened that out yet.
So now Red team I present your corrected

To Ingrid my sincerest apologies and to the other superstars effected by my error I am truly sorry. I will try to be more diligent in the future. Please remember I am a lowly volunteer and I do make mistakes. So if I say something that you are concerned about just PM or email me and I will look into it.
Now everyone back to your regularly scheduled program on the RED channel. Keep encouraging each other and keep working hard. Remember the Blue team and I are gunning with you to defeat the Black team next week. It's anybody's game as long as we work hard. Let's get losing. We can do it.

Aw, thanks Lisa! Most of that weight is hidden under my shirt...the big tummy bulge that is the gift of having 2 kids!! :scared1:
I'm sure it's not :scared1:. Regardless, you look fantastic.
Katy
Way to go Katy. Congrats on the weight loss.
I actually got up and jogged this morning. I've really been putting off my marathon training. I've gained half of what I lost last Friday. I better get back on track if I'm going to be down this Friday.
Keep going Krista!
:surfweb: morning everyone
HAVE A GREAT DAY ON PLAN EVERYONE!! YOU ARE WORTH IT AND YOU WILL FEEL SO GOOD AT THE END OF THE DAY KNOWING YOU ACCOMPLISHED ANOTHER DAY ON THE RIGHT PATH IN YOUR JOURNEY!!

Question of the day - Tuesday
Name Something you like about yourself
I like my smile and my compassion. I also like my sensitivity. I used to hate it because I'm overly sensitive in general. But now I accept it as everything has its yin and its yang so to speak.

My support system is my husband and my mom. In the last year my mom has lost 79 lbs through eating healthier. She has peripheral vascular disease and cannot exercise. She's in constant pain but keeps a positive attitude. I'm so proud of her.
Today was a good day. Ate on plan and walked 30 minutes on the treadmill. It was a slow pace though, no where near what I'll need to do for the 1/2 in 2010, but I have over a year. I often feel overwhelmed because I need to lose so much. I am now focusing on 5 lb increments. Oh, I also got my water in.

My support system is THE RED TEAM!!!!, myself and a dear friend who I keep in touch with through email.
Today was not such a swell day. We had a death in the family this week, so that has me eating. Then a co-worker had a birthday today, so that meant cake. Actually there were cakes. Cake with an "s". So I had to try both of them. Birthday lunch was lasagna. And since it was slow at work, the cakes and I became fast friends. Ugh. Tomorrow is a new day. And I don't have any cake at my house. :thumbsup2

My support system is my dh and my mother. My dh has a bunch of weight to lose as well. He has been trying for the last 11 weeks, like I have, but while I have lost 25 he has only lost 5. I think this week will be his turn around week where the weight finally drops off, but he is my inspiration to keep trying! Even without results he hasn't given up and I think that would be really hard.
I did well yesterday. Ate within my points for the day, drank at least 6 bottles of water, and worked out at the gym. I have upped the speed when I job and when I walk so I feel good about that accomplishment. I tried to up the incline but that seemed to aggravate a muscle so I put it back down to what I was used to.
Have a great day and make good choices! 24 hours till weigh in!

Question of the Day - Thursday:

I will feel better, will be healthier, and will be a better role model for my children.
Found the questions from the other days!
My user name: Twingle - I have a son (singleton) and two daughters (twins), so Twins + singleton = Twingle.
My support system: The Red Team, lol. My DH and children are supportive, but don't exactly make it easy for me to find the time to exercise. My extended family is "sick" of hearing me talking about getting healthy and not doing it. I have girlfriends IRL that we talk health/nutrition/diet/exercise with, and they are great, but if I were to call and say I'm dying for a Five Guys cheesburger and fries, would ask me what time I'd like to meet them there, LOL.
Have a great day everyone - feel like saying "LAST CHANCE WORKOUT!" :rotfl:

Wow, tell your mom congratulations. My weight loss mainly comes from exercise. I can't imagine what I'd be like without it.

When I reach my goal weight I want to buy a whole new wardrobe. Clothes, shoes, maybe a little bling (nothing too big). I just want to feel stylish. Sick of shopping in plus section and wearing big clothes. I want to feel like I look good weather it's jeans, dress, ect.
Lisaviolet, I will tell her. I'm so proud of her.
Today I stayed on plan, walked for 30 minutes. I'm hoping for a least a little loss tomorrow. Hope everyone had a good day.

When I reach my goal weight ... I will be able to wear the things in my drawers that have been waiting to come out for over a year and half. My daughter's friends won't ask if I'm having a baby.:headache: I'll be able to look at myself and smile. I can't do much about the wrinkles here and there, but I can do something about the fact that I have to bend forward to see my feet.
I still need to work on my portion sizes. I won't be the biggest loser this week for sure.

When I reach my goal weight I am going to do 2 things: (please don't laugh)
1. Get my belly button pierced.
2. Have breast reduction surgery. I have lost bra size but not cup size and with my work as a hygienist, I am having pain in my neck and back. I will wear my stretch marks and loose skin as a badge of my accomplishment, but there is no way I can work another 25 years with "the girls" causing me so much grief!!
