I am new to the discussion board and I have noticed that some people put "bump", but I have no clue as to why.

Any answers?:rolleyes1

When someone posts an answer to a question, like I am now, the whole thread will go to the top or "bump" up to the top of the list. That way, it will be there to get more responses.

It won't help that this is already on the top, but if it was not before, it would be as I "bump" it up.
Rather than saying things like "I am subscribing', it's quicker to just type bump and hit submit reply.

It also supplies an answer to something that you don't know anything but are interested in the answer to the question. :thumbsup2
