I was told my husband qualifies for this rate. He is a building inspector for Town of Highland Park. I received this e-mail though this morning. Here is part of it:

Thank you for your inquiry via the Sheraton.com Web site.

To qualify for the government rate, guests must present government identification at the time of check-in, and BE TRAVELLING on governmental business. Most state employees qualify for this rate.

What about the part the says he must be traveling on governmental business. I have never heard anyone having a problem with this any suggestions...?

Perhaps that is their official line, but reservations booked through DreamsRES (https://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/dreamsres/index.htm) do not require your husband to be on business, he only has to show ID that he is a government employee to qualify.

Mom Poppins, I qualify for the gov't employee discount also and the first time I called about it I got the same response - that I would have to be on a business trip. I called another time, just to check and see if I would get the same response, and I could have booked the discount with no problem. I think it's just like with CRO, it depends on who answers the phone. I agree with Cathy - book thru Dreams. They are wonderful.:)

I called the hotel directly and they said NO you do not have to be on business to qualify. Whew... what a relief I was getting worried. We are really looking foward to our trip and our stay at the Dolphin. Thanks for the help!:p
