We will arrive at the Swan on May 11th with a standard view booked. We got the govt. rate and belong to SPG, two of the many wonderful tips I learned from "lurking" on these fabulous boards! Have also poured over Glo's great FAQ, which actually led us to the Swan.

An upgrade would be great, but of course we are not counting on one. We are traveling with family and will have 3 standard rooms. Can anyone recommend a good standard location/ view to request? I understand some standard views overlook MGM and TOT - that sounds fun. Anyone have one of these rooms and can share how the view was?

We learned from Glo's FAQ to fax any request about two weeks before arrival, so it's time! Thanks for all of the help these boards have been in enhancing our trips to WDW! I can't believe we ever went without all of the great information we have gotten from here!

With all the great upgrades at S/D, I guess not alot of DISers have had standard views! Can anyone recommend/ describe the standard view at the Swan? Thanks!

I know I won't be much help here as i have only stayed at the Swan twice both times, same room in back of hotel...resortview.
I can only guess that the rooms in the back are the resortview rooms so those in the front must be the standardview rooms. I remember looking up at these rooms last week thinking that even these views weren't that bad. Straight ahead would be looking at the entrance to the hotel and the grounds which are quite pretty. To the left...if you're facing out of the hotel which would be on the east side...would look at Boadwalk rooms and the river the boats pass over and to the right which would be the westside I think would look out and see the mini golf courses and the parking lot BUT out in the distance I would assume you would see MGM and possibly be able to see fireworks at night from Fantasmic.
Hope this helps, if not, at least you got a bump :)

Thanks for the info, Mickeyfanium. It sounds like there are no bad views at the Swan! We'll just request the "best available view" and I'm sure we will be happy with the room we get.

Mickey'sbud, -- SPG is the Starwood Preferred Guest program. It is a rewards program you can join (free) to earn points towards free upgrades and reduced nights at Westin and Sheraton properties, including the Swan and Dolphin. There really are some marvelous benefits. You can learn more about this on Glo's S/D FAQ.
