Main Course Recommendation for Palo

I just don't see anything on the menu that really strikes me. Any recommendations for someone who doesn't really like "fancy food?"

Palo's is one of the magical treasure on the Magic or Wonder. There are many dishes to choose from. Any server will offer you more than one to try. There is a great tasing ravioli dish, a melt in your mouth Steak dinner and several other Pasta dishes and even some Pizzas.

When you do go, you should order the Chocolate Soufle. It is quite tasty and the presentation is also wonderful.

In short this is a not to miss experience

I am not a big gourmet eater - but, I have to tell you - Palo's is a dream.

I have had the rack of lamb several times (YUMM)

and

the chocolate souffle (double yumm)

I eat steak about once a year and I had a filet at Palo that was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious. :)

I had a pasta dish at Palo that I thought was very good and the fried calamari was good too.

Has anyone ever had the Tiramasu?? I was planning on ordering that since it is my favorite and our waiter just surprised us with the chocolate souffle (which was very good). However, when I go in a few weeks, I would like to try the Tiramasu!

At the beginning of the meal, your server will ask if you want the chocolate shouffle. It takes a while to prepare. We decided to share one and order something else to share. When dessert was served, the server gave us each one plus the panna cotta AND the tiarmasu.

We were already stuffed, but found a couple empty spots to fill with dessert. So, good!!!

One suggestion I would make is to talk to your server. They are the best of the best from the ship and all of them are quite good. They know the menu better than anyone and if they ever make a mistake in a recommendation they will get you something else.

Oh, heck, there was a fish dish...

We went in not really knowing what we wanted, and our server helped greatly.

Rule One Onboard: Trust Your Server.

Rule Two Onboard: If you don't like what your server recommended, no problem, more food will be out in a moment. They encourage sampling.

We ate at Palo's on the Wonder on Wednesday April 24. I had the rack of lamb which was superb and DH had the filet mignon (may have been a special that day) which was also excellent!

For appetizers we shared a pizza and I had the portabello mushroom and DH had the calamari. Dessert was the chocolate souffle for me and DH had the tiramasu.

EVERYTHING was just wonderful! I have a feeling we would have been quite pleased with anything on the menu.

For dinner I had two appetizers = calamari, and portobello mushrooms with polenta & some sort of delicious sauce. Prior to that, they brought bread with three dippers - pureed roasted red peppers, olive tapenade and pesto. Any of the three was heavenly!

My main course was rack of lamb, served with baby vegeatbles and a brown sauce (I'm not good at nameing sauces, but it was great, too). The vegetables were served in a parmesan cheese cup. How did they do that? Dessert was, of course, the choclate souffle. **sigh**

We splurged on a nice bottle of wine, and the meal was excellent. Although the restaurant is fancy, the food is not the over-the-top fancy stuff that you can't identify. I think most people can find something (or lots!) to like.

If you are a meat and potatoes kind of person, definitely have the filet. It is soooo tender and delicious! Visit the menu on my website at www.***************** and click the link to see a photo (we'll be adding pictures of lots more of the entrees soon).
And although I highly recommend the chocolate souffle, if you want something plainer for dessert, remember that "gelato" is really just a fancy word for "ice cream."

We ate at Palos twice... once for dinner and once for brunch. If you like lamb, definitely get the rack of lamb.. it was quite good and cooked to order. I also liked the smoked trout appetizer at dinner, and of course the chocolate souflee was really good.

I was less impressed with the brunch at Palos. The shrimp were excellent (like they were on the sail-away buffet at Topsiders) but the crab claws were marginal at best. The lunch entrees (filet mignon and a fish dish) were good, but not great. While were were at brunch, Captain Henry and several of the ship's officers were seated next to us and they ordered breakfast items that looked really good (several versions of eggs benedict).

The desserts at the brunch were excellent (and I'm not much of a dessert person). *Definitely* try the grilled "sweet" pizza for dessert... it was very unusual and delicious.

Also, if you go to Palos.... ask for Vlado, from Croatia, for a server.. he was *excellent* for both dinner and brunch. Our travelmates had Salvatore for dinner and were not impressed at all.

My husband and I each had the filet - mmmmmm! It was sooo good!!! The best part of the meal was the chocolate souffle - it was just amazing!!!!
The champagne brunch was very good too - I would recommend that to everyone!

I like the veal with mushroom sauce for dinner and the eggs benedict for brunch. The first time there, I had the tiramisu, and it was great, but I've since stuck with the souffle for dessert.

We had Salvatore on our last cruise and had a great time with him.

well. i ordered the tortelloni and at first was disappointed because they only gave you 4, a very small amount.....But by number 3 i was sooooo full...we went to palos on formal night and some champagne while waiting for our table.,they brought our desserts without even asking..my husband got the lamb...hes greek so he knows his lamb and said it was just wonderful..he also had lamb at lumierres but said it was completely different.

Don't be afraid to order two entrees. (My DW was embarrassed, but I was happy!) The ravioli was great. Jerry, our server suggested lamb. It was good, but I enjoyed the ravioli more. The chocolate souffle is the best!

The sweet pizza was really something that I thought would *not* interest me, but it was really quite excellent!

I'm not quite sure of the exact ingredients, but here's the best description I can recall. It start with a very thin pizza crust (the same as they use for all the grilled pizzas at Palos brunch). Then, they spread a thin layer of a fruit spread (I think it's a currant jelly) and add extremely thin slices of fruit. On top of that they add freshly chopped mint, bits of toasted (pine?) nuts, and tiny dollops of of sweet marscapone cheese. It's then grilled like all of the other pizzas. I'm not much of a desert person, but man that was good... actually, *all* of the Palo's brunch deserts were great!
