Thought I'd just set up the thread for this cruise.
Me, DW and 2 DD's from England. This will be out first ever cruise and we're combining it with a 20 night stay at All Star Movies over Christmas and New Year. We shall be keeping it a secret from DD's until we arrive at Port Canaveral.

Looking forward to seeing who will be our co-passengers.

We're also going to be on this cruise ~ that's me, DH and three DDs who will be 17, 15 and 13, and we're also from England! We're coming to Orlando for 17 nights and looking forward to spending Christmas and New Year there, it will be our third visit to WDW but our first Disney cruise. pirate: We've kept it a surprise from our DDs since we booked back in September but finally told them today.

We copied the postcard from Mickey that comes with the confirmation, added their name and cruise details in the address part and put them in special envelopes we made which we hung on the Christmas tree. They were a bit shell-shocked at first but have now got over it and are getting very excited. We've spent our Christmas Day watching the cruise DVD! :rotfl:

It's such a relief to be able to finally talk about it openly!! :upsidedow

Nick ~ good luck with keeping your secret, I don't think I could have managed that long!! :goodvibes

This will be our first Disney cruise!!!!! We will be doing a 7 day Western cruise with Carnival on Dec. 6/09 and then heading for 3 nights of Port Orleans and then our 7 day land and Sea package starts! After the Cruise we will stay at Port Orleans French Quarters for Christmas!!! We will be in Florida for 25 days!

England friends, us Canadians need the extra long vacations too!

I am so excited!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: My eldest DD has already made some door magnets for me and I've stuck them on our fridge. She has made a lovely one with pictures of the Wonder and the words 'Twas the Cruise Before Christmas' because we would have really liked to do the 4 night one over Christmas but it was too many $$$ ~ so we chose this one instead and we'll brave MK on Christmas Day!! :crowded: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I feel a bit guilty now. I set up the thread and haven't had time to check if anyone else has joined in.

Warebears,
Sounds like you had a great Christmas Day with your surprise. We were in 2 minds as whether to tell our DD's but have resisted still and will keep it a secret until we arrive at the cruise terminal at Port Canaveral. They think we're staying at a hotel near Kennedy Space centre for a few days so we can go to the beach... can't wait to see their faces when they find out lol.
Not sure if we're brave enough for MK on Christmas day, might go for a more leisurely approach... not sure what though!

Charleyann,
You have a great trip planned out with such a lot of cruising too. We too will be staying at POFQ for Christmas after the cruise, seems like we might be bumping into each other lol.

Nah, don't feel guilty ~ we're months away from our cruise yet, there's plenty of time for others to join in. I hope more do, I've been looking at some of the other cruise threads and they seem to have great fun with the fish extenders!

Not sure if we're brave enough for MK on Christmas day, might go for a more leisurely approach... not sure what though! I'm not sure I'd call it brave ...... crazy, daft, even plain old stupid springs to mind!! :rotfl: Personally I'd avoid MK on Christmas Day but I've been outvoted by the rest of the family. :guilty:

We're planning on doing Epcot on NYE!! then flying home NYD..we should sleep well on the flight home!

I hope the pound picks up against the dollar too. I only paid a deposit when i booked so it's costing a fair bit more now than originally. Exchange rate was 1.85 when I booked.

The only plans thus far for Christmas Day is Christmas Day brunch with Chef Mickey. Last year at Port Orleans we rented a Sea Mouse and went to downtown Disney and then later went to DisneyQuest. My 12 year old said it was his best Christmas!

The parks are crazy and so was downtown Disney. DisneyQuest was busy for a bit , but everyone left around 4pm and it was a good time. I played Ms. Pacman most of the day. Haven't played that in years! LOL:rotfl:

The parks are crazy and so was downtown Disney. If there is one thing I have learnt from these boards it is to avoid MK on Christmas Day :crowded: and yet that is where we are going!! We are going to get there early, have lunch at Tony's, then if it is too bad we will make our escape after that.

Hi everybody! This is my first post, so bear with me.

My daughter and I will be taking this cruise as a surprise for her birthday. This will be our 5th trip to the park, but our first time cruising. We are going to spend a couple days at the park, get the b-day fast pass for her actual b-day, then take the cruise. I think she suspects that we are going to WDW for her b-day, as we have talked about the promotion, but I'm not going to tell her about the cruise until we get to Port Canaveral.

I have to say that I love the DISboards! I have been so impressed with the amount of information and the willingness of everybody to share what they have experienced. I am a major fanatic when it comes to pre-planning, so this has been awesome for me to find out what everybody else has to say before I make out my little spreadsheets.

We are a family of five - DH, DS age 14, DDs 13 and 4. We have been to Disney World before, but this is our first cruise. We will be at Disney before and after the cruise. We are booked on the 4 land/3 sea package and then staying at WDW for Christmas. We are looking forward to it. No plans so far; just in the process of planning for the trip itself. We will be celebrating my 4 year old's birthday also, so it will be so exciting for her.

Looking forward to meeting everyone! :yay:

I believe we are staying at the Caribbean Beach for the 4 land/3 night package. Before the package, we are staying at a outside Disney resort for a few days, then we will be doing the package, and then staying at Disney (either at on site or off site) after the package. The only thing booked so far is the resort before and the package. Still trying to find the best airfare, deciding on the transportation whether to rent a car and for how long and also deciding where to stay after the cruise. :confused3 . We are staying at the Carribean Beach before the cruise as well. As far as planning, I would suggest looking at Airtran for tickets (out of SFO). They seem to run cheaper than SJC flights, if you can drive it. However, they have not published their December flights yet. Only up to November at this point. We are renting a car, as we might run to SeaWorld one day, and I want to keep the cruise a secret as long as possible. We will probably take the bus to the airport though after the cruise, since we are going home for Christmas. This is going to be so much fun!!:woohoo:

Thanks for the suggestion. I will keep an eye out at Airtran. We will probably rent a car for the whole time. It is probably cheaper than just renting for part of the period, since we will probably use it before and after the cruise. This will be so fun, but I cannot relax yet until I have made all the final arrangements. I will need a vacation then. :yay:

Although DH has chosen the cruise to celebrate his 50th birthday (his birthday was last month, the poor guy has to wait quite a while for his present :rotfl: ) I am definitely the most excited one in our family.

What are you guys most looking forward to about the cruise? I am looking forward to just about everything but especially Castaway Cay. We are great POTC fans in our house and I can't wait to see the Flying Dutchman. pirate:

Just want to say Hi to the new posters on here and apologize for not saying welcome earlier.
It looks like there will be a few birthdays being celebrated on this cruise... what a wonderful way to spend a birthday, especially as it will be a surprise.
Our 2 DD's still do not know anything about the cruise, as far as they know is that we are staying in a hotel by the beach near Kennedy Space centre for a few days, can't wait to see their faces.
Still completely stumped for what to do on Christmas Day. Think we might just wait until the day and make our minds up then. Spend the day by the pool if it's a nice warm day and venture to the parks later in the evening to catch the fireworks. We're intending to make this holiday a bit more relaxed than our previous ones and visit some of the places we haven't been to before between Christmas Day and New Year. Cypress Gardens, Gatorland, do a river boat ride.... things like that, hopefully they won't be as busy as the main parks.
It's now 11 months since we booked, so like Ware Bears, it's nice to see the ticker getting a bit closer. I don't want to wish away what little summer we have over here in the UK but I hope December hurries up... I need my fix of Disney and Florida soon!!

the price to buy these passes off the cruiseline is $169 per person. If you book a room a comfort suites, your passes are included. It is often cheaper for a party of four to book the room. The price depends on the time of year. At Christmas it is around $300. Divide that by 4 people and subtract from $169 (price of Passes) and you'll see the difference. We basically get two passes free...

With the room. You checkin and checkout the same time...

Hope this helps!

Ok....I am staying extra days before our Land and
Sea package starts with Disney. We will be at Disney 8 days before we sail. Before that is a 7 day Western cruise with Carnival.

I have a room booked with 40% off until Christmas Day and then Holiday rates kicks in at $219 plus tax.

I just found out , I could fly to Nassau from Orlando for just $59! I found a beautiful resort for around $100 nightly in Nassau. I'd love to spent Christmas in the Bahamas....

I have done Disney twice at Christmas. Also just after Christmas too.

I can fly home from Nassau for just $20 more then flying out of Orlando. Gosh, the beach or the crazy hustle and bustle of Disney?????

I have a friend with three daughters (15, 13, 5) that we will be meeting up with in the park before the the cruise. They might be coming with us on the boat, but they just moved down to FL and haven't gotten their tickets for the cruise yet. Nothing like waiting for the government to reimburse your moving expenses!

I do think it's cool that there seem to be a lot of 13 years olds in this thread. I'm hoping we can meet as well! My daughter makes friends pretty easily, but it might be nice to have someone to introduce her to initially.

Is anyone else thinking of signing their teen up for The Wild Side program?

What is the Wild Side program?[/QUOTE]

It is one of the shore excursions on Castaway Cay. According to the DCL website it says "The Wild Side - Snorkel, kayak and take a scenic bike ride amidst a tropical island paradise as you indulge in a thrilling tour of the island — perfect for the teen in your family." Basically, I think they take all the teens over to the Teen Beach for activities in the morning and then point them towards lunch. Thought I might get in a massage while she was off doing that with the other kids...

Only wanted to ask since she will be just 13 and I wondered if anybody knew how the ages in these kind of groups break down. Don't want her to be the only young one in a group of 17 year olds. I might check some other threads out on this as well.

That's a very good point.

I asked my DDs if they were interested in it but they seemed a bit reluctant to tie themselves down to 4 hours. I'll ask them again nearer the time but I think we may just do the Getaway Package as then we can do things at our own leisure.

I totally agree. Since you will be at WDW before the cruise, you will have the chance to do all the Christmasy stuff. We haven't been before, so we are definitely getting tickets for Mickey's VMCP and doing the dinner package for the Candlelight Processional. But the Bahamas for Christmas. How awesome is that. Hey everybody! Just got back from a quick Spring Break trip to Florida. We were in Jacksonville visiting with friends, so of course we had to run down to Orlando! Disney was sooo crowded. We avoided the parks (though it killed me!) and just went to the Polynesian for Tonga Toast (yum!) and to Downtown Disney for some shopping. We spent a day at Seaworld as well. It rained, but the girls didn't mind since the first thing they rode was Journey to Atlantis and then they got splashed feeding the dolphins. It was fun.

I am definitely up for meeting that first afternoon. We were going to try and get there early so we would have time to explore the ship and maybe hit the pool. Any ideas on where would be a good spot?

Next year, we'll go to the Bahamas if we like it. We'll see once we done Nassau after the cruise...

I can't wait to meet everyone and to have our kids meet. My son suffers from cystic fibrosis and juvenile arthritis. He is oftened bullied and very weary of kids he doesn't know. Oh Charleyann, you'll have a wonderful time at Discovery Cove!! Have you been before? We went on our first trip to Orlando in 2004 ~ it rates as one of the best days of my life. :cloud9:

 for you and your son. Kids can be so so cruel sometimes. :sad2:

I hope he'll have such a fabulous time on the cruise.

Yes, yes, yes! I have read about them and think they sound like fun. I was hoping somebody would bring them up. Some of the threads say that they aren't as popular on the three day cruises. The same with the door magnets. But, I would definitely be interested. Even have some ideas on stuff...

Well, it is exactly 8 months today that we fly out to Orlando :yay: and then we will have 3 days to play in the parks before we head off to Port Canaveral and the Disney Wonder! :cheer2: pirate: :cheer2:

I am starting to get into full planning mode now   we are hoping to visit all 4 Disney parks on those 3 days and also book tickets for MVMCP on the 18th December.

We are also hoping to book the Candlelight Processional package for Christmas Eve but from what others have said it's very difficult to get so I will have to cross everything that we are lucky.

We have also been thinking about the cruise. On Nassau day we think we may make our own way over to Atlantis and do the Discover Atlantis tour, it works out cheaper to do it this way rather than book it as an excursion through Disney. Then we'll get back to the boat by lunchtime in order to eat lunch onboard and enjoy the boat in the afternoon.

How are everyone else's plans coming along?

I can't wait to meet everyone and to have our kids meet. My son suffers from cystic fibrosis and juvenile arthritis. He is oftened bullied and very weary of kids he doesn't know. I think he would be so happy to meet some nice kids who see past his illness . Gosh, middle school has broken his spirit, I hope this cruise can show him, there are good kids his age!!!!

I kind of read about it, but not quite sure what is it and how involved it is. If able, I would love to do it, but I need to find out exactly what is involved before committing to it and letting others down. :confused3

No problem, there is plenty of time before we need to decide. :goodvibes

Looking through the main cruise board, some people seem to spend quite a few $$ on buying/making their fish extenders whilst others prefer to hang a door hanger/bag that they may already have at home.

I think the emphasis is on the gifts being both inexpensive and fun ~ small little items that won't take up much space. Some of the things that I have seen others mention giving/receiving are candy, stickers, tattoos, beads, glowsticks, pencils, fridge magnets, notebooks, bookmarks, anything that may represent your home town/area.

Hope this helps. :)

How are everyone else's plans coming along?
Planning!!! That's a bit of a sore point for me. I booked the holiday 20 months in advance but that's about as far as I've got. We know roughly what sort of things we are going to do but we leave the day to day planning until we get there and just go with the flow. I think we ought to be a bit more organised this year, especially for the cruise, and we hope to chill out during the Christmas week instead of joining the masses in the big parks.
At least the tickers are counting down nicely now, it doesn't seem 5 minutes since ours was saying 1 year and 8 months to go!!

Wow, what a great saving. Just think what pleasure you'll have being able to spend that money on something else! :thumbsup2

We're planning on going to Atlantis in the morning but not for the aqua park, just to look round the dig, then be back on the Wonder by lunchtime. Even that is cheaper to do by ourselves than with DCL. Their Discover Atlantis tour is $52 each ($52 x 5 = $260) whereas if we make our own way there and buy tickets when we get there it should cost us $4 each one way for a taxi/water taxi, and $35 for tickets making a total of $215. Not such a big saving as you but it all helps. :goodvibes

I read in the Birnbaum guide that if you're on the DCL excursion you wouldn't be able to leave Atlantis until after lunch unless you made your own way back at extra expense so that was also a deciding factor.

My MVMCP tickets arrived but they are for the wrong date.

The lady I dealt with on the telephone even confirmed the 18th to me yet they are for the 17th. We are able to go on the 17th as we arrive on the 16th, however we thought we may be a bit tired seeing as it was our first day. I have written to Disney to ask if the tickets can be changed to the 18th, if not then we'll just go on the 17th after all.

I'm very glad I paid for them to be sent to me and didn't arrange for them to be Will Call..........

LOL! :rotfl: I'm the opposite! I'd rather see the shows first, then eat afterwards. I'm afraid that if I did it the other way round I would be too sleepy after all that delicious food and start to zzzzzzzzzzzzz in the theatre! :scared1:

We were automatically given the late dinner seating when we booked but we are happy to stay with that. I guess there's pros and cons to both.

Are you both getting even more excited now that we're coming up to the six month mark? :yay:

Starting to get more excited now the 6 month mark's approaching and am even starting to do some planning, which is quite unusual for me!
Just considering booking Cirque Du Soleil tickets now as they are available up to the end of December now and as the £ has strengthened a bit I think it might as well be as good a time as any to book now while the seating availability is good.
Haven't got a clue what to do in Nassau or on Castaway Cay yet. Was thinking of the Dolphin swim in Nassau as we all enjoyed Discovery Cove so much but I think it may just cost too much this time, I'll look into it nearer the time and see how funds are. On Castaway Cay we might just take the relaxation approach and chill out on the beach, weather permitting.

Ware Bears, where did you get your Passporter guide from and is it any good?
If I get one it's going to have to be well hidden as the kids still don't know about the cruise.

Early dining here too. Would rather do that early to leave the rest of the evening clear and I don't think I could last until the later time.

You can get the Passporter either from their site direct or from Amazon. They do two types ~ one is a bound book, the other is loose leaf in a folder with yellow pockets, one for each day, where you can keep ticket stubs, receipts etc and can buy updated pages/pockets for future years.

I love Passporters so I think its worth buying. DH doesn't bother reading these boards so has definitely found it interesting. However, if you're worried about your secret being spoiled, then don't risk buying one ~ you'll find all the info on here.

I've also got the WDW passporter :thumbsup2 ~ I buy the replacement pages for the year we're going but only take a select few and the yellow pockets on holiday rather than the whole folder. I normally buy direct from Passporter in the US but with the poor exchange rate it was working out very expensive this year, that's why I looked on Amazon UK and bought loose-leaf guides with binders for approx £16 each, I think they were that cheap because I pre-ordered them last December!

I'd say the info in Passporter is more detailed than the Brit's Guide but it only covers Disney property and not the whole of Orlando like the Brit's does. However my absolute favourite travel guide for WDW is The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World (http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/browse/book/isbn/9780970959683?utm_campaign=bookbutler&utm_medium=api&utm_source=GB&utm_content=The-Complete-Walt-Disney-World&utm_term=0970959680) by Mike and Julie Neal. In 2 minds whether to buy the WDW Passporter book now or hang on for the new one coming out in November. I'm always on the lookout for new and unusual things to do rather than just doing the same old things every time, especially during the Christmas week when the parks will be so busy.

Haven't been to Gaylord Palms yet to see Ice. It's something we were thinking of doing this year between Christmas and New Year. There's so many things we haven't done over there yet and this year we are going to try and do them instead of doing the parks during the Christmas week when the parks will be so busy. Thanks for the information on dining. I use to love making ADR at 180 days out...made the vacation seem so close!

Asfor the crusing. I think you'll love it. We did our first cruise last December on Carnival Imagination. We loved loved it and loved Carnival. The food was delicious. In picking a cruise. Form your own opinion. We loved Carnival despite what we heard from others...

We are taking a 7 day Western Carribean on Carnival Valor just before we do our Disney cruise. I am sure I will love Disney but in a different way. Disney is Disney and no one else can do a Disney cruise except Disney. Just as Carnival is unique! Now Royal Carribean - The Oasis of The SEAS", the worlds largest and most inovative cruise.....they are al going to have trouble topping that off with the zip line across the ship, 10 whirpools over the sides, two flowrider pools. two rock climbing walls, inline skating rink, boxing rink, skating rink, boardwalk, central park and promenade with mall and cruises first carasol......I just have to remember it is as unique as itself!!!!!:rotfl:

I'm up for the Fish Extenders. In fact, I have already collected a couple things I thought would be cute! I will have to make myself an extender though, since I don't have one of them yet. I've seen some cute suggestions.

Hi fellow cruisers :wave2: hope you are all keeping well. :goodvibes

I can't believe how our cruise date is creeping closer, roll on Monday week for our 5 month dance! :dance3:

Has anyone given any more consideration to us doing a :fish:Fish Extender:fish: Exchange?

If anyone is up for this, I am willing to be the one to collate the info. :)

Can you please explain Fish Extender?

Many thanks!

I'm not surprised you're getting excited. We thought we were going for a long time and splitting up our holiday quite a bit but yours sounds fantastic... a whole month on holiday.... now only if we could get enough time off work and school. :thumbsup2
BTW, we too are staying at POFQ after the cruise but staying until New Years Day.

Nick

We are staying at POFQ until Dec. 28th and then we are renting a cottage until Jan. 4th/10....then I have to go home!

Charleyann, it's a bit like a Secret Santa where you leave little gifts for the others in the exchange. There's a fish outside each stateroom door and it's possible to hang a pocket organiser from it, hence why it's called fish extender! Looking at other cruise meet threads, people decide whether they wish to participate ~ if they do, they exchange gifts by leaving them in the pockets in the fish extender. The emphasis seems to be on the gifts being both inexpensive and fun ~ small little items that won't take up much space. Some of the things that I have seen others mention giving/receiving are candy, stickers, tattoos, beads, glowsticks, pencils, fridge magnets, notebooks, bookmarks, anything that may represent your home town/area.

This link (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607) was in the DCL FAQ on the main cruise board, I'm sure it will make more sense than my waffle! :goodvibes

I am game for this! Should there be a cap played on how much we spend for the gifts? It makes it easier......

So we get things that represent our country/province / city?

Yes, that does seem to be a popular idea, also Disney and pirate themed things ~ here's a thread with photos of what some people exchanged here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2100779) and another here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980639).

Should there be a cap played on how much we spend for the gifts? It makes it easier......

Do you buy for everyone? Or just one person?

I've been reading other threads and it definitely seems to be a case of anything goes and it's left to each individual to decide. Some people like to give to each person every day, others give one gift per participating cabin per cruise. For example, we're a family of 5 so people might prefer to give something for us to share instead of a gift each.

I don't mind whether we set a cap or we could just say we spend whatever we are comfortable with. I see some people make their gifts, others buy very cheaply from a dollar shop ~ well, we don't have dollar shops in the UK but we have pound shops! :rotfl:

IMO we should have just two rules ~ (1) Keep it inexpensive and (2) Keep it fun!! :goodvibes

Charleyann

Ok, I think I get you. So you give little gifts to each participating cabin? You can give to individual members of that cabin or one gift per family?

Is this for each day we sail? So 3 days of gifts?

You will give us a list of participating cabins and family members and whether they are child or adult?

I was only joing about the Ketchup chips. They'd be crushed by the time I got to Disney cruise after a cruise before this and 7 days at Disney...al ittle stale too!:rotfl:

We’d like to join in on this little reindeer game.;) We just booked onto this cruise as well and are looking forward to getting back on the Wonder once more before she moves on to other duties. This will be our third DCL cruise and we already can’t wait. Actually we were just on the Magic this past July (and a fabulous time was had by all), but we no sooner got back home then we realized several things. First, we wanted to go back out with DCL ASAP; second, we probably weren’t going to be able to go to Florida at all in the summer of 2010 (for the first time in many years); third, with the new Disney Dream arriving at Canaveral in 2011, this might be the lat time we could get aboard the Wonder before she moves to the west coast and fourth, we really didn’t have any idea what we wanted to do for each other this Christmas. So… We decided to skip presents and extra spending entirely this holiday season and get back on the ship.:thumbsup2

We’d also like to join in on the F/E Exchange if you’re doing one. We were actually in charge of tracking and publishing the members lists and printing ships maps for the July-11 Western and really enjoyed getting to know everyone on the thread and at a DIS-Meet on sailing day. Just let us know who’s looking after the F/E list and we’ll PM them what ever info your collecting. We kept it pretty simple last time and just published a periodic post to the thread that listed everyone in the F/E like this: “Cabin-Nbr – DIS-Name – Crew Names & kids ages” so for us it would look like this:

“2035 - GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes - Rob & Tamara, DS14:Max”

Obviously, we’ve already got our (now infamous no-sew) Fish-Extender and I’m sure we can easily recycle a number of our favorite door magnets. We’ll just have to make a few new ones with a proper seasonal theme and that should keep us occupied while waiting for December to roll around.

We’ll that’s probably way too much rambling on:rolleyes1, but we’re so excited!:cool1: Looking forward to hearing from everyone and getting back on a Disney ship. See you soon!

We’ll post more info in a bit just to let all the new folks know what it’s all about and how it all works. So, (like it or not:rolleyes:) you’ll be hearing from us a lot. Were already looking forward to getting to know every one. Back in a bit…

We are officially inviting all member of the thread who are sailing along with us on the December 20, 2009 “Holidays of Wonder” Cruise to join in on a “Fish Extender Exchange” (F/E for short). If you interested, either PM us directly or post on this thread the following little bit of info:

“Cabin Number” – “DIS Member Name” – “all Crew Members & any kids ages”

For us it looks like this:

2035 – GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes – Rob & Tamara, DS14: Max

We will regularly publish a list of all the members who are joining in and we’ll put together a ships map showing you how to find everyone’s cabin to make the exchange easier. If you interested just holler out and we’ll look after the rest. If your wondering just what we’re talking about, just check out the next post. Hope to here from everyone real soon

So just what exactly is a “fish” and just why does it need “extending”? Well… The “fish” is a combination wall decoration/ornament and message clip that is attached to the wall outside every cabin on the Magic & Wonder. The CMs (that’s “Cast Members” for the newbies) use them to leave messages, official forms or invitations for the occupants of the cabin as needed. It’s kind of like a glorified fridge-magnet and it looks like this: (click on the image to enlarge)

http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/th_5520-door1.jpg (http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/?action=view&current=5520-door1.jpg)

A “Fish Extender” is any thing that you care to hang on the fish. Literally anything will qualify, but in general, they are usually some type pocket organizer similar to a shoe caddy or mail organizer. They can be as simple as a canvass bag or as complex as your imagination cares to stretch. Here are a couple from our last cruise: (click to enlarge)

http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/th_IMG_2038.jpg (http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/?action=view&current=IMG_2038.jpg) http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/th_IMG_2035.jpg (http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/?action=view&current=IMG_2035.jpg) http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/th_IMG_0149.jpg (http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/?action=view&current=IMG_0149.jpg)

We’re are not very good with a needle and thread, so we engineered ours out of a couple of small cotton bags, a Disney themed bandana and some chain from a light fixture and ended up with this variation on the idea: (click to enlarge)

http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/th_F-E2009.jpg (http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/?action=view&current=F-E2009.jpg)

So, what’s it for? Well… It has become a kind of “Secret Santa” game played by the folks who roam the DIS Boards. The idea is that every DIS Member who is on the same cruise will go around the ship and leave a little “nick-nack” or “whats-it” in the pouches for the other members that are playing along. The generally agreed rules are that you give out gifts to each participant once per cruise, and that the gifts should be inexpensive trinkets that either fit a cruise or holiday theme and/or show off a little taste of who you are or the place that you call home. Here’s a link to a continuing thread on the boards that discusses the subject at length:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

Or, you can just ask us directly and we’ll either answer your question or find an answer. Welcome aboard and come join in on the fun!

Good Questions!!

You don’t have to put an F/E on both doors (especially since they are right beside each other), but it might be more fun. As you do have two groups, we’ll keep both of your cabins together in the published lists, and at least we’ll almost certainly leave a similar F/E-Gift for both cabins (even if we just leave them both in the one F/E).

Now as for meetings, that’s totally up to the group. Having said that, the most common first DIS-Meet for us has been to get together at 3:00pm on the first day of the cruise. This is just before the lifeboat drill, which starts at 4:00. That gives us about 30 to 40 minuets to drop in, meet folks, plan any additional meets and pass out info and maps if available. It also keeps the meet to a limited time, as we all have to be present at the lifeboat drill. As for where, we could meet any where on the ship, but we recommend meeting in the “Promenade Lounge”. The Promenade is on the port side of Deck-3 (the deck where you’ll board the ship) between the restaurants on that deck (“Triton’s” and “Parrot Cay”). It’s generally not very crowded at this time and fairly wide open, so it’s easy to find each other.

Let us know what you think and if everyone is agreeable with this, we’ll make it official.

Wow, so much has happened on here since I last looked in.... new people, fish extenders, and it's getting so much closer. Been so busy at work and the computer's been on the blink too so not had much chance to come on here and join in. Anyway, the unthinkable's happened this morning. I've woken up this afternoon (been working nights!) and next to my bed is an envelope with my travel pack from DCL in it. It's been put there by my DD's who at the moment are fortunately in town with their mates. I've got 2 hours to think of an excuse before they come home and start asking questions or the secret is over. I might show them the guides and say it must be just an advertising mailer and see if I can get away with that. Wish me luck!

We'll join in with the fish extenders and are ok with meeting etc. I'll post my details when I've dug out my room number from all the hidden paperwork stashed away at the back of the cupboard where DD's can't find it. I'll have a proper read of all the posts too instead of skipping through them. All my overtime at work finishes next week and then I've got a couple of weeks off so I can catch up on everything and hopefully start to organise a few things.

Just noticed, less than 4 months before we fly out :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Well, we’ve rummaged back through the thread and put together an initial Members & F/E list for the Dec 20 cruise. So far we have 10 different groups totaling 39 folks who are following the thread and are planning to sail with us. There are 19 kids ranging in age from 4 to 17 years and about half of them are in the 13-14 range.

We have had 4 groups confirm that they will be participating in the F/E and a couple others expressed some interest before we started organizing the whole thing, so we’re waiting to hear from everyone else before adding them to the F/E list. We will probably start sending PMs out about joining in about a week, but for now we’ll let every one catch up with the thread and contact us here.

If your reading this and wondering what an F/E is, here’s a link back to our little introduction on the subject:

A couple of notes:
1. The cut off for joining in on the F/E is Nov 29. That is three weeks before we sail. The idea here to ensure that those who are participating will know exactly how many gifts they need to put together and have time to order things if necessary. Also, there are a number of groups that are starting their trips in early December, so we need to finalize the list before everyone starts traveling.

2. If we have any names wrong or you want to give us any names, cabin numbers or other info, just post it here or send us a PM.

3. If you want to be added to the F/E list, just let us know and we’ll update the list (which we’ll probably republish on the thread every week or so depending on the number of update we receive.

Nick, oh no :scared1:

I hope your secret hasn't been spoiled ~ good luck :wizard:

Well that was a lot easier than I thought it would be. They didn't even mention it when they came home and when they did eventually remember I just said that it was something I sent off for online ages ago but it was just rubbish anyway. Told them I hate the thought of going on a cruise and it was too expensive.... that seemed to do the trick. Just hope the tickets come when they're at school, don't think I'll be able to blag it again!

Also, a big thank you to Rob and Tamara for taking the time and effort to arrange everything on here. It's very much appreciated. :thumbsup2

Was looking tonight and there were no categories above category 6.

I booked category 12 guaranteed with 4 people. I know we automatically go to at least category 11 because 4 people won't fit in Category12.....Wonder where that leaves us?

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2 We’ll update your line and move you to the F/E list the next time it gets posted. Just let us know when they assign your cabin number and we’ll update that as well. Normally DCL will assign the GTY cabins some where between 30 and 45 days out. This past summer, we got our cabin assignment right at 45 days, but 30 days seems to be more common.

For those who are considering joining in on the F/E but aren’t sure that you can make or find your own extender… here’s another families excellent take on just how simple it can be:

http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Pix/IMG_0149.jpg

Like we said in our introduction, almost anything will qualify, and this simple F/E worked as well and was just as much fun as the most elaborate one we’ve ever seen. So, if your sitting on the fence, we say, “Dude! Jump on in, the water’s righteous!”:goodvibes

My husband and I (plus our sons 12, 10, and 7) will be going on this cruise and would love to get involved in the Fish Extender idea I've read about. Do we just bring the thing for the door and a bunch of small gifts? Or is there a thread where those participating are listed with room numbers, etc...?

You’re exactly where you need to be. We’re the unofficial keepers of the F/E and DIS-Members lists for the "Holidays of Wonder" Cruise (Dec 20-23, 2009), and we just wanted to give you a little shout out and say that we’re all glad to have you along with us.

We see that you’re interested in taking part in the Fish Extender Exchange (F/E for short). We’ll go ahead and use the info we pulled form your post to add you to a spot on the exchange list (which we republish on this thread about once a week depending on the number of changes that have been made). When you get a chance, there is the little bit of data we need to make it official:

“Cabin-Nbr – DIS-Name – Crew Names & kids ages”

as an example, for us it look like this:

“2035 - GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes - Rob & Tamara, DS14:Max”

This will help everyone taking part to be able to find your cabin onboard the ship and get to know who you are. If you have any questions about the F/E, the Wonder, DCL in general or anything else for that matter, just post it here or on the boards and someone will probably be able to help you find an answer. Looking forward to meeting you on the Wonder.

Here’s the most current F/E and members list for Dec 20. Some groups have GTY cabins and don’t yet know their stateroom numbers. That’s cool, just let us know when you finally get an assignment (likely in mid November). If you already know your cabin number, then just post it here and we’ll pick it up and update the lists. Also let us know if we need to update anything that’s listed here (cabin changes, member names, kids ages, move on to or off of the F/E list, ect…). Holler out if you have any questions.

Welcome Aboard!!
:welcome:
We’ll add your group to our list and update the current version on the boards as well. Just let us know when DCL assigns you a cabin number (you can either check you reservation on the DCL site about 30ish days before we sail or it will be printed on you luggage tags which should arrive at about the same time). Would you like to list your Parent’s and/or your Brother’s family names & cabin (when you know it) on our members list, or for that matter, would they be interested in playing along in our little reindeer game?

Rule one for all newbies: Relax! If you have questions, ask them here. Or, just read through the various threads on the boards. Especially the FAQ thread below:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2068966

Again, were glad to have you along and we can hardly wait for the holidays to get here ourselves.

I got our plane tickets tonight!!! I am so excited!!! We got a really good deal (I think so, anyhow).

Next jobs to tackle: hotel for 3 nights before the cruise and rental car for afterwards.

Question (sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this): if we stay on Disney property before the cruise, do they cut you a deal to get a shuttle to the port? Do they even offer shuttles from Disney property to the port (we are not on a land & sea package)? I appreciate any help with this!!

Thanks!

If you are not doing the Land/Sea then you have a couple of things to consider.

If you are driving your own car to the resort where you are staying before the cruise, they will issue you a parking pass at the time you check in, but the pass will expire on the day you check out. They don’t generally let you leave your car at the resort.

If your are flying in, then they will bring you to the resort from MCO for no charge, but you will be charged for the transfer to the port. Disney does offer this type of shuttle to the port, but they are not cheap. You might do better hiring a town car to take you to Canaveral. You also need to consider whether or not your going back to WDW or to the airport after you return. Here is a link to a section on the FAQ which discuses transfers and might be useful:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-transportation.htm#GT

Hope that helps a little bit.

Fabulous!!
Glad to have you join in. The more the merrier!! We’ve found that roaming the DIS boards and keeping up with the thread does help the time pass a little easier and it keeps us up to date with everything DCL. Let us know if your sister’s group wants to participate in the F/E or if they would just like to be added to the members list and we’ll add them on. We updated the F/E & Members list and we’ll republish the most current version in the next post.

Below is the most current version of the members list. We are also keeping a more detailed MS-Excel version of the info, which can be emailed to anyone that would like a copy (just send us a PM with the address). We are also putting together a map of the Wonder that marks all the cabins that are participating. We’ll post that after the final list has been established and we’ll also bring copies with us and pass them out at the DIS-Meet to anyone that wants a copy.

They will give you a map when you check in at the terminal, but The Promenade Lounge is easy to find. It’s open to the main walkway on Deck-3. When you board the Wonder in Port Canaveral, you’ll be on Deck-3. “Triton’s“ will be immediately on your left. As you cross to the other side of the main lobby you will sea the Guest Services desk on your right and the port side hall leading to the aft elevators and Parrot Cay on you left. Just head down the hall and you’ll walk right by the lounge. Don’t know how many folks will show up, but we’ll be there greeting people and handing out info. See you then.

Here’s a link to the ship deck plans in the FAQ. Just click to enlarge.

I have dozens of other pictures, backgrounds, blanks and images that I can combine. If you have a favorite character or in idea for some other type of image you’re interested in, tell me about it and I’ll see what I can find or put together and post the results back here. We made so many different magnets for our last cruise that we had a completely different set on the door each day.

They're looking good, Cori! :thumbsup2
We'd love one of those Dis Green Ear with Socerer Mickey!!!!!

Charleyann, they don't cost anything! When Sammy's made your design she'll post it on here, then you print it up on magnetic paper and it's all ready to stick on your stateroom door! Would you like a name to go with Sorcerer Mickey?

Actually, all the image collecting and alterations are Rob’s doing, but your welcome to use anything you see. That one is a common image from the “Graphics Thread”. I can’t tell you who originally did that specific piece, but it’s free for anyone who wants to use it. Let us know if there is any other kind of image or idea your looking for and we’ll see what we can dig up.

I am getting so excited about this cruise. It was meant to be a 'once-in-a-lifetime' but we said that about our first visit to WDW! ;) I just know I'm going to want to sail again! pirate:

Warning!!! Warning!!! DCL is addictive.

We did ou first sailing as a Land/Sea with three days on the Wonder in 2007 (just to see if we’d like it), and have been absolutely hooked since. Now it’s not a matter of if we cruise DCL, but just how long is it going to take us to save up for it and work the schedule out. We’d go several time a year if the finances would allow it.:rotfl:

Out of interest, do you prefer longer cruises or shorter ones?

We would have preferred a 4 night for the day at sea but the prices for the ones over our dates were :scared1:

Charleyann
08-31-2009, 06:28 PM
I'd prefer longer and I am infact taking a 7 day cruise with cruise for less then half of this cruise .....

The prices are just too high!

Are you concerned over the swine flu? Just got back from taking my son to the doctor. Their recommendation is that he be pulled out of school after the frist confirmed case in his grade level or unless he has received his vaccination against it. He will be among the first to receive vaccine when it comes out.....Just hoping it comes out before we sail!!!!!

My worry is that we will catch it on the plane over and then be unable to cruise.

You can't avoid it in the UK, there are people diagnosed with it everywhere ~ at DH's workplace, my DDs school and college, and the school where I work, although none of them have been seriously ill. Part of me stupidly half-sort of wishes we'd get it (a very, very mild case of course) now, then the worry will be over.

Hope that both you and your son stay healthy :wizard: :wizard:

Hi all! Been out of touch lately finishing up our summer vacationing. Great to see so many people adding themselves to this thread and the FE list.

Regarding the swine flu: My daughter had a confirmed case (along with about 10 other kids from 4-H camp) at the end of July. Fever was really nasty, but she didn't have too many other symptoms. The after effects were bad though, as she ended up with a bacterial sinus infection and pink eye, which she kindly shared with me! Luckily a round of antibiotics cleared us both up and we are back among the healthy. The pediatrician's only positive comment was that now she has had the swine flu, we don't have to worry about her getting it again.

I will look up our room number when I get home and add it to the FE thread tomorrow.

Here’s a Sorcerer Mickey I put together for my son that is based off of several images from the “Cruise Magnet Graphics” thread. I would be happy to rearrange this and/or do some other graphics for you or anyone else in our group.

Here are a couple other sorcerers that I already have and could easily adapt. .

http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Mickeys/th_Sorcererhatmh.png (http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Mickeys/?action=view&current=Sorcererhatmh.png) http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Mickeys/th_SorcererMickey.jpg (http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Mickeys/?action=view&current=SorcererMickey.jpg)

Here are a few other "Mickeys" that I already have made up

:welcome:

Glad to have another group from the Carolinas along for the cruise. We are the unofficial keepers of the F/E and member’s lists. Actually, you’ve given us a good reason to repost the master list on the thread with your group added in. We try to post an updated list every week or so, but it’s been slow lately. Just let us know when DCL assigns you a cabin number for your GTY. You can either check you reservation on the DCL site about 30ish days before we sail or it will be printed on you luggage tags which should arrive at about the same time (every once in a while DCL will assign cabins at about 45 days, but 30 is more common). Also, there will be a DIS Meet at 3:00 on the day we sail in the Promenade Lounge on deck-3 between Triton’s and Parrot Cay (just before the lifeboat drill). We’ll be there handing out ship’s maps showing all the cabins that are participating in the F/E.

As you’re making your way around the DIS boards you’ll run across a lot of good info and some of the best stuff can be found in the FAQ located on the thread link below

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2068966

Again, were glad to have you along and we can hardly wait for the holidays to get here ourselves.

If any one else would like to join in or be moved to the F/E just give us a shout.

Howdy,
It’s us again. We were going to send you a PM (private message) for this but I don’t think you have enough posts on the boards yet to be offered that option, so, we’ll post this here instead.

Don’t know if you’re planning on making magnets for you door, but we (that is Rob) loves to tinker around with graphic images. So he put together a DIS Member Name themed “DCL - Swoosh“ for everyone in our group. It’s yours to keep, delete, print or whatever.

http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Mickeys/DIS-Swooshes/DISSwoosh-NCDCLfans.png

Feel free to rummage around in our PhotoBucket and let us know if there are any other images or designs you’d like to see. We have a lot more images and ideas and we’d be happy to give you copies or personalize something for you. If you don’t see anything you like, let us know what your looking for and maybe we can put it together or help you find something similar.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 20th.

I hope Jacob continues to recover quickly!!

Does anyone know how cold it will be for this cruise? Keep in mind we live in Colorado - so although it can get cold (40-50s in December), it is really dry. I am starting a packing list, and just don't know about what type of clothes to pack. Is it warm enough for shorts at that time of year, or would that just be ridiculous?

We will also spend some time in Orlando before and after the cruise, so any info on what type of clothes to pack for that would be much appreciated!

TIA!

Hi there!

I live in the East Coast of Canada -40 with wind chill factor in the winter (Brrrrrr) We go each December to Orlando and this is what I found. Short and t-shirts during the day and light jacket, hoodie/ sweatshirt for the evening. I usually take two pair of long pants and a couple of hoodies/seatshirts and the rest of capris, shorts and t-shirt and a bathsuit. Yes it is warm enough to swim in December!!!! I also take a light jacket. Leave my winter coat in the car.....

The day time temperature for Dec. are usually in the 70's and low 80's . They do have cold fronts that move in and it can get cold 48-50.'s, but that usually only last a couple of days. Anymore questions feel free to ask...

Thank you for the speedy recovery wishes for Jacob.

Thanks

Hope your son continues to feel better Charleyann. We are down with the flu right now but luckily we have a light case of it.

We also have CP reservations on Dec 18 but at Chefs de France. Seems like everyone is going to see Whoopi. We've also got tickets to La Nouba on Dec 16 and "Mickey's very Merry Xmas Party" on Dec 13.

On the boat we have booked Parasailing on CC for my nephew and me and bikes on CC for my daughter and me. I booked Andastra Gardens on Nassau but I may cancel those and stay on the boat. We did Atlantis last time, and don't really want to do that again. Anyone else book any excursions yet? It is all getting closer and closer:)

We are going to make our own way over to Atlantis in the morning but try to get back on the boat for lunch. On Castaway Cay I think we are going to rent the bikes/snorkels/floats. I think our window for booking opens next week ~ I can feel my excitement levels rising as I type! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Howdy to All.
We got some bad news down this way and the bottom line is that we aren't going to be able to sail along with the group this time around. We could go into the details, but they don't really matter and it wouldn't change the situation, so we're not going to waste your time with a pity-party.

The first order of business now is to figure out the status of the F/E & Members lists. Truth is, we actually wouldn't mind looking after these for the rest of the group, but obviously we won't be on board to hand out final lists and maps on Dec, 20th. There are a couple of obvious ways around this and either will be fine by us.

1) We keep looking after the list and post final spreadsheets and maps on the thread at the end of November via Photobucket (in just the same way we go about posting magnet images & other graphics) and y'all can just copy and print them off from there. Or...

2) Someone else can take over the care and feeding of this little beast. If anyone really wants the job, just send us a PM with your home e-mail address and we'll send you the documents and such that we have put together so far.

Like I said, if you folks don't mind printing off your own copies of the final product, we certainly don't mind looking after the process (it will keep us connected to the idea and joy of cruising even though we won't actually get to see the water this time). We wish we were still along for the ride, but it will still be a fabulous Holiday of Wonder for all aboard (DCL will make sure of that).

Let us know which way you want to go and we'll talk to you again soon.

Oh no :sad2: Tamara, Rob, Max, what a shame. I am so so sorry you've had to cancel.

It's so kind of you to offer to carry on looking after our FE list  we can each print off our copies and it would mean still being able to chat with you. I hope you'll still feel part of this cruise, even though you won't be able to sail with us.

I was so looking forward to meeting you :sad1: perhaps another time.

Thanks. Obviously, we’re pretty disappointed, but it can’t be helped. :confused3
We’ll be happy to look after the F/E because it will keep us in the loop. But, we will need a definite favor form all of the folks who are waiting on their GTY cabin assignments. DCL should start assigning staterooms for this cruise somewhere between November 15 & 25 (most likely around the 21st, but I have seen them show up a little earlier). As there are a number of folks who are leaving on their adventure in early December (especially those lucky soles who aren’t hindered by working for American Employers, but I digress), we need to know your cabin numbers as soon as you can possibly post them so there will be time to update and post the ship’s maps and build final members lists that can be printed before everyone starts traveling.

We would also recommend that you still plan on having the DIS Meet on the first day to get to know each other. If you do, then someone who is leaving latter in the month and has time and resources, could possible print off extra copies with any late updates and bring them to the meet. We will keep maintaining the lists and maps up until cruise time just in case.

I'm so sorry that you had to cancel your trip, Tamara, Rob and Max! But thanks so much for the swoosh door sign. And we appreciate all you've done on the member list!

Welcome Aboard!!

We are the unofficial keepers of the F/E and member’s lists. We’ll go ahead and add you the F/E list and republish the whole thing in the next post. Once DCL assigns your staterooms in November (probably a few days either side of the 21st) just post it back here. As you may have read, we were originally planning to travel with everyone in December as well, but had to cancel, so you will need to print off a copy of the final list once all the GTY cabins have been posted (because we won’t be there to hand tem out). We are also maintaining a more detailed Excel version of the data and can email that to you (or anyone else in the group) if you just PM us an email address. Hope you have a great time on your holidays.

Thanks to all the folks who have recently posted or PMed us with updates to the F/E lists. I see that there are groups who will begin traveling in mid November. Hopefully DCL will start assigning cabins for the GTY groups at the 45-day mark (and that they have the opportunity to post those updates), otherwise we’ll need some volunteers to bring along extra copies of the lists and maps and give them out at the DIS-Meet (which would be a very good thing in general if someone would like to take on that little task). We will post images of the ship’s maps as soon as we know all the cabin numbers (or at least as many as possible) and will keep posting updates up until the 20th. Hi again,
It occurred to us that since we can’t come along this December, the images that
we put together for our door magnets (and the magnet that we were going to
give out as part of our F/E gift) would just go to waste. So, we decided to
post them here for you all to have (if anyone is interested).

This is the one we were going to give out as part of the F/E
http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Wonder%20Dec09/Sand-Snowman7.jpg

This one was our variation on the first theme for the stop in Nassau
http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Wonder%20Dec09/Sand-Snowman4.jpg

And this one was for Castaway Cay
http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/RuledByVenus/Wonder%20Dec09/CastawayHloiday2.jpg

You’re welcome to use any of these in any way that you like. If one or two show
up on the Wonder then at least a little piece of us will be along for the ride.

Those are beautiful magnet templates. Thank you for sharing! Sorry you are not able to make your trip though...

I have looked back in the forum and read of some people receiving a cruise package from DCL? What is in this package? I do not believe we have received anything. I'm curious as to what we are missing.....

GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes
10-17-2009, 11:14 PM
I’m very surprised that you didn’t get one of these. Usually they come along with you initial reservation documents. It’s a packet that contains several booklets giving you tips on cruising, listing amenities aboard the ships, overviews of some of the excursions and answers to commons questions. They’re nice to get but not necessary. More important are the final travel documents that arrive latter which contain your boarding documents, luggage tags and final confirmations. Those should be showing up by mid November.

BTW – Thanks for the compliment on our magnet images. We have a lot of fun trying to come up with ideas and putting different images together. We've even done several requests for other cruisers. What’s really fun is when someone posts a picture of their door after they get back and we see one of our graphics displayed in the midst of the jumble.

I have a DW and 1DD. DW-Ron, DD-Madalin-6. DW & I have been on one cruise with another cruise line thru Wilma; it was really bad. DD has never been on cruise. We are going to one day at Magic Kingdom on the 19th then the cruise. No one in my family knows!! I am telling DW we are going to WDW on Monday before we leave then not telling him about DCL till the 19th. I have some good ideas as to how I am telling both DW and DD. I am having to do everything secretively.

Sounds like you got a lot of things going on at once. The best piece of advice we’ve ever seen here is this: Relax! Don’t over think or over work things. If you have questions, ask them here. Or, just read through the various threads on the boards. You will also learn a lot if you can take a little time to rummage through the FAQ thread below:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2068966

We are the unofficial keepers of the F/E and member’s lists. Don’t know if you saw our original introduction to F/Es but here’s a link for that (just in case)

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33122459&postcount=131

We’ll go ahead and add what we know about your group to the list, but a little more info would be helpful. What we’re looking for from each group in the F/E is: “Cabin Number” – “DIS Member Name” – “all Crew Members & any kids ages”. All we’re missing for your group is a cabin number and your name. So far this is what we have:

???? – MSGirl – “you” & Ron, DD6: Madalin

Hi, everyone. I've never done this before, so bear with me if it seems like I'm not a pro at this:)

My husband (DH?, is that the code name?), Mike, and I are travelling on this cruise with our daughter, Chloe (I guess that's DD, right?) who will turn 9 years old on Dec. 21st. We originally booked the cruise to celebrate our 15 yr anniversary, so we really have a lot to celebrate in our short 3 day cruise.

We are staying with a long-time friend in Orlando, both before the cruise and after the cruise. Universal for a few days before, and then Disney for the 4-5 days after.

I would love to have a "friend" for Chloe to hang out with on the ship and during our days on-shore. We have a room booked at Comfort Suites which will allow us access to Atlantis. On Castaway Caye, we are renting bikes, snorkle gear, and floats for a day of total fun in the sun and relaxation.

We do not have a room assignment, yet, just a GTY.

Looking forward getting to know you, our fellow ship-mates:santa:

Glad to see more folks joining in. As the unofficial keepers of the F/E and members lists, we’ll add your group to the members list when it gets re-posted (probably this weekend). We didn’t see whether or not you also wanted to join in on the “Fish-Extenders Exchange”. If so, just let us know and then after DCL assigned you a cabin (in mid-November) post that back here as well so we can update the lists and Ship’s maps.

If you have any questions, just post them here and we’ll do all we can to help out.

...My daughter just turned 13, we're considering "the Wild Side" teen activities on Castaway Cay. Can we wait until we are on the ship to sign up, or does it get totally booked early? Do 13 year olds like this excursion, or is it geared to the more mature teens? What if the weather is bad?

...I thought I read that if you collect autographs, you could drop off your book or hat or whatever and all the characters would autograph it for you. I can't find where I read this. Does anyone know if it is true?

Thanks,
Katie

My daughter is just 13 as well, so I would also be interested if anybody has any insight on this. She has kayaked (sp?) before, but never snorkeled. I've already signed her up, but I guess we have some time...

Hi Natalia,
Our daughter Tina will be traveling. She will be 9 on Jan. 9! Her cousins will be on board, as well. It would be great to try to connect the girls up at some point!

We are also arriving a few days early and doing MK, and then staying 4-5 days afterwards (but probably visiting with family in Orlando).

Sounds like we have a lot in common. DH and I have been married 14.5 years.

This is getting close! I am EXCITED!!!!

I've read that if you drop off aziploc-type bag with a tshirt, or pillow case, or autograph book with a couple of markers at the guest services (what's it called on the ship?) at the very beginning of the cruise, then you can pick it up at the end and the characters will have signed your item!!

We are planning on doing this (one bag for each child, and probably one for me and DH each as well!) with tshirts. Or maybe photo mats?

We got our room assignment today. We were upgraded from a 12 GTY to category 10. This could be a problem . This could be an upgrade from He**!:rotfl:

Now to give you the story...My best friend and I are taking our 2 boys on a cruise together. They are both chronically ill and both suffer terminal illnesses. One uses a wheelchair/ scooter for endurance and from fatique or disease flareup. We couldn't get an accessible room.

Today our cabin assignment was for#2653. Deck 2 and as far aft as you can get and over the motors!:scared1:. Reviews say when docking or departing you get thunderous noises and earhtquake sensations which begin as early as 3 am and end around 7 am or when the ship docks. :scared1:

These two boys will need rest after a long day of play and adventure. This would surely wake them with a start and scare the crap out of them as we are inside with no window...

Should I be concerned? Any options available for us?

Thanks

Cori,
That sounds really great! We will definitely have to get the girls acquainted. Are you planning on going to Atlantis? We are still waiting on our room assignments, so when we get them, I will post it. Looking forward to meeting you, and everyone else!
