Ok, we just got hit by Hurricane Ike, our home is safe. The girls are out of school the rest of the week and maybe into next week so what do I do? I booked airfare (using freq. flyer miles) and hotel to go to........you guessed it, Disney!!! Yahoo. I have the best husband to let me do this. We will be staying at the All Star Music for an incredible rate of $370 for 5 nights. I am so excited and can hardly believe we are going. We are at the airport right now and will be landing around 11pm Orlando time. I booked, packed and got to the airport in just 2 hours-- we even brought a friend with us. I am such a planner so this is so wild to be going without any prep--Wish me luck:rotfl:

If I were in those same circumstances I would be doing the same thing. We were at Music the last 6 nights and had a great time. The planning is instinct and will kick in once you get in Disney.
Enjoy!!!

I'm glad that your home was safe. Eventhough your home was safe, I'm sure the whole situation was stressful for your family. What a wonderful way to de-stress. I'm sure you'll have a great trip. I'm just a little jealous you have a DH that would say yes to that, I doubt I could get my to.

Thank you all for the nice replies!! It was quite stressful actually even though we had no damage. Lots of damage everywhere we live, lots of trees in houses. We were fortunate enough to have a POD (Fema location) across the street from us at our church, so we were able to go over there to help distribute ice, water and meals. The real need was ice due to the wide spread power outage, but slowly everyone is getting their power back. I think my hubby just wanted a break from my craziness and it really is a great opportunity to take the girls without missing any school. Thanks again!!

I hope you have an amazing time. I know how stressful hurricanes can be. My sister was in her last year of law school at Tulane when Katrina hit, and it was a very stressful time for her and her hubby. They lived in Metaire and didn't get any damage, but the lack of damage didn't mean a lack of stress. Have a Mickey head ice cream bar for me. :goodvibes

Glad your family/home is safe! We were hit by an EF3 tornado on Memorial weekend and destruction is all around us everyday. Fortunately, we had only exterior damage to our home. We are headed to Disney in January and I can't wait to get out of here for 10 days to think about something else for awhile!!
Have a great time!!

Good for you!! Have a great time, and don't worry about what's going on back at home. :goodvibes
My sister has been w/o power & phone since Fri. night. I'm hoping they got it back today. But I should have suggested a Disney trip when I first got thru to her on Sat. I'm sure they could use a vacation right now.
