Just to clarify... It's not a patent for the computer mouse. It's a patent for a computer mouse -- one with a Mickey Mouse shape, with each ear being a mouse button. It was filed in 1994 and awarded in 1996.

The original patent for the computer mouse goes back much further. It was awarded to human-computer interface pioneer Douglas Engelbart in 1970. In the patent application, it was called the "X-Y Position Indicator for a Display." It was quickly nicknamed "computer mouse" because the wire resembled a tail.

I have had two of them. However, they were more like tennis ball (but not fuzzy) with mickey's face on the ball and the buttons were actually on the ball part above the (decorative) ears.

I still have them in a box somewhere. They both had internal priblems and I could not get them repaired, or even have the parts combined to make one workable one.

I used it in my desk at work; it really had people coming into my office wondering.
