I finally line up my date for an 8 day stay and the Disney computer system is down. I was told to call back in the afternoon. I'm bumbed out!

It has been down since last night! UGH!

System is still down and they messed up my ressie switching from the fall fantasy to the free dining code. Uuuuuggghhh the wait to see if it is correct. I have had this booked for a year and now it is all messed up. :scared1:

I also called and was told the system is down. I am hoping to go 12/20 to 12/27--from this thread, it seems like it might be with free dining for the whole time. Fingers crossed.

:sad2: I called through the Grand Gatherings number and the CM told me that the system would probably be down until tomorrow morning.

Went through our TA, she changed our Dec ressies, so nice for me not to have to go on the phone. MEI-TRAVEL is best, I just go on email, tell her what I want, and she books for me. I don't have to email her and request discounts, she checks on them automatically. I highly recommend my TA, she does all the legwork for me.

I just was able to check my reservation online, which I wasn't able to do before. Maybe all is up now. I would call again.

I was just able to change my reservation to use the Visa free dining code (Thank you so much for that Disboards!). I called at 8 this morning and left my number and ressie number with a CM. She just called me back and was able to change everything, so the system must be working now.

at least for now. I made my ressies and I'm set.

By the way, I took care of all our TS meal ressies at the same time. I feel we were able to get good, reasonable times.

I booked with the code for the package that came out last month at ASMovies. Just tried to switch to the free dining code. there was no availability at Movies, but they could switch us to Sports. I was originally $1770 w/ deluxe dining.... and if switched to Sports with FD and doing deluxe with that would have been $1670 - so $100 savings - which I declined. My little ones are real excited to be staying at Movies, so isn't worth saving the $100 to move to Sports. Maybe something will open up for my dates at Movies?

KEEP trying!! We had a 2 day ASMU AP rate for Sept 26-28. On the 28 we had an AP rate of 54/night also at ASMu. When I called to check out with the free dining yesterday morning, they had it but only at POP!! Odd I thought since I always hear on the boards that many like it there. Well I didn't change (net increase of 191 for 6 nights plus 2 1 day passes to keep for the future) the reservation due to the fact we would have to move and wanted to speak with my husband. Well, we decided to do it even with the resort change but when I called yesterday afternoon guess what they had ASMu. So it worked out for me to stay where I wanted to. We ended up paying 82/night for the entire stay and no regular season raise in price. Good Luck in getting ASMo!

I just spoke with AAA and they were able to help me. We're traveling on 9/27, and the promo starts the next day. So, they were able to book a room only for 9/27 and have the promotional package start on 9/28. We saved around $500. Yeah!!!! The only problem is that we don't have park tickets for our first day there -- not a huge problem because I wasn't even sure if we were going to feel like going to a park after getting up early for our flight from NY. I also hope that we won't have to vacate our room after the first night, but that would be a minor inconvenience in order to save that much money.

It seems the split stays has happened to quite a few of us. The original AP rates were through Sept 27 and started again on the 28th. That's why we had 2 reservations. I think maybe we will be lucky and not have to move since there are many that will be there on the 27 and 28 so why move us unless they really have to.

I can't believe it that they are offering the free dining during Christmas. All I can say is that they must have many, many empty rooms. What a way to fill them up! Lucky you Christmas time is so beautiful at WDW!

I was just quoted $924 for POP std view, 3 nights Dec 18-21, for 2 adults, free dining, with 3 day MYW hoppers. I also got a quote for $1480 at WL woodsview. Both of these seem high for only 3 nights. Does this seem right? :confused3

The reason it seems so high I think is that a 3 day pass is $225.78 each whereas a 6 day pass is only 236.43 each. After 3 days to add additional days is very inexpensive. If you stayed a few more days, you would only pay about 95/night for a value and get the free dining as well as only pay a few dollars for the tickets.

You can price the rooms on Disney's website and add the cost for your tickets and if their are any extra person charges. You didn't give enough info to figure it out. (type of tickets, extra people?, number of tickets)

You can not price out or book two connecting rooms at a resort on the Disney website. That's why I always have to call and get a quote.

Okay, I have a question. I know the Disney free dining code is QXZ, but I saw posts from some other people on another thread about this subject and they were posting Disney free dining codes a QXV and DVL. What do these different codes mean?

Connecting rooms are not guaranteed; all you have to do is price 1 room and double it to figure cost The poster was just trying to check on rates, not book rooms. The reason I suggested just checking online is that it doesn't bother a CM just to figue whether or not a discount exists and it most likey would be quicker online.

We just got a quote for POP for 7n/8d standard room using the code for $1453.60. Is the preferred room worth the extra charge? Also, we found airfare from Ontario CA to MCO for $193 per person. That is $24 less then we paid for nearly 2 years ago. So, it looks like we are going to WDW.:cool1:

p.s. We were originally just going to go to DL for 4 days, but for an additional $1,000 and an extra 4 days we will get WDW.

Actually, because we have 4 children, we were guaranteed connecting rooms. It actually states it on my confirmation e-mail and the nice CM stated that we would be guaranteed it. It does seem I am getting a slight discount, about $90 off the rooms.

That's good. I was just giving you a suggestion as to how to figure out your possible discount. Yes, it appears from what we booked that we are just receiving the value season rate for the entire stay. That's how the small differences are being justified. We saved about 40 for the 2 nights at regular season. Everything helps!

She can most definitely price the two rooms out separately on-line. But if you call and have a CM price the rooms under one reservation, you will most likely get a different price. At least that's what I've found everytime I have tried to do that on the Disney site. I have never considered myself "bothering" a disney CM when I call to get a quote. It's their job. And as for connecting rooms not being guaranteed, we have never been denied connecting rooms for our family of 6. Every invoice I have ever gotten from Disney has always stated in bolt print Connecting Rooms are guaranteed for families. I've seen some posts here on the DIS stating that connecting rooms are not guaranteed, so now everytime I book, I ask if my connecting rooms are guaranteed. Every CM I have ever spoken to has told me that we have a guarantee because all of our children are minors. I'm sure there is some miniscule chance a family could be denied a connecting room if it were during a very busy peak week, but the chances are very small.

I really don't know why this is becoming a debate. All the OP was trying to figure was if a discount was given on the room and they didn't even give the number of people or ages to be able to help and figure it for them. I just suggested an easy way to figure if they had some type of room discount. I don't know why you would get differnet prices for booking 2 of the same exact rooms connecting or not. A room cost is a room cost.

We have APs and get the advantage of keeping our 1 day passes to apply to a future ticket so the 2 of us are basically eating for $194 for 6 nights! That's the increase we had to pay on our AP rate of 54/night. We couldn't buy 6 days of food for that even with the DDE card!! Have a wonderful trip!

Maybe it depends on when you go...mine definitely had a room discount. Our DP (2A2C) came to $767.68. However when compared to the same pkgs at rack rate, our savings are $911.68. Even though we are going in regular season, we got the room at value season prices. Difference between CSR standard room regular and value season = $16/night. $16 x 8 nts x 1.125 (for the 12 1/2 percent tax) = $144....$144 + $767.68 (for the DP) = $911.68 total savings.

Thanks for doing the math! I just booked POR for 6 nights in Nov. for free dining and when I priced it out online, I was getting $108 more than the price I got when I called. I plugged in 6 nights in your formula and it came to $108. That's a nice discount that I wasn't expecting. I was happy to get the free food!:goodvibes

I had originally booked with code for Nov 12 - 16 for 2 adults

4 nights at ASMu with 5 day base ticket with PIN code $681.70

I was going to call back and add the dining package after I crunched the numbers for our 3 TS meals we had planned and CS for the rest of our meals we were looking at spending at least $275.00 and that didn't include any snacks. So for around $30.00 more we could add another TS and get dessert and snacks! The dining plan would have added $303.92 to the $681.70 for a total of $985.62

BUT while reading another board last night I found out about the FD code. I called several times today until the system was back up.

4 nights preferred room at ASMu, 5 day base ticket and FREE dining is $885.14. So I saved a total of $100.48 and we have a preferred room. I'm happy!:cheer2:

Hi! I booked this yesterday for 3 nights 11-20- 11-23! I had not planned on going untill I saw this offer! :rotfl: It will just be me and my DD! I have always wanted to go to see Holiday decorations, but have never been able to get away to do it before now! :lmao: I booked Pop with a 1 day water park and more ticket because we will be doing MVMCP one day! I was told that the tix (1 Day) (wp & more) has 2 options?? This does not sound right to me though (she insisted that it was when I booked) ?? Just wondering?? I thought we got a great deal though at $538.04!:rotfl:

My online reservation does not say free dining but it has the new price now. I do have the email now with a link to a reservation summary that says free dining so I printed that out.

IF you haven't gotten an email and it's been awhile, call back. I posted a thread on here because I didn't get an email or anything. I called back today and my CM hadn't followed through! We were not down for free dining, though our credit card was charged for the package difference. This CM got it taken care of and I got the email 2 hours later. I was nervous too, not having anything and it turns out rightfully so!

I do know that as long as you check into your WDW hotel the last offical date for ex. Dec.20th buy at least one day of park tickers then you will get the free dine as long as you are staying!! or maybe up to 10 days or 2 weeks.

:cool1: woohoo! Got the free dining! Originally had booked with the code that came out in August - now got another $153 off my Nov 12-17 stay. I went with deluxe dining. Also booked a room for my sister and her hubby.
Between both our rooms, we saved a total of $816.57 compared to regular rates! I was happy with my original code, but this is even better now!
We're doing ASMovies. Though now my daughter is wanting POP again. Is the free dining available at POP, too? She's got me second guessing Movies now. I liked Pop last time, but wanted something new. Some of the theming there I did like... but some of it I didn't care for. My biggest draw to Pop would be the Goofy water jets that the kids LOVED, and I think they'd enjoy the kiddie pool there a lot, too.

A 6 night/7 day vacation with transportation and food and DISNEY for $1800?! :cloud9: I am so siked. Now I just have to convince my DH and tell my job that I need some time off. Wish me luck!

Wow - that is a great great deal! Congrats!

I am having a hard time with our airfare from Baltimore/Washington DC area. It's still over $300 per person for our dates (12/19 - 12/23). We can frequently get it for half that (did in August). If I can get a low airfare we'll do it maybe.

Also I know about the convince the DH bit. I'll go alone with the kids probably - it's really what I want for Christmas...

Make sure you check the Airtran Airways website. We are flying out of BWI - nonstop to MCO for $200pp....and that is only because we will be flying home the day before Thanksgiving - otherwise, we could have gotten it for less than $160pp. (11/18-11/26) Good Luck!

Whoo hoo! Finally got a code that works!

We're a party of 8 going from 12/13-12/19 and staying at WL. Couldn't change our air flights because of great prices and wanted to take advantage of free dining so our AAA agent was able to make a separate room only reservation for the 13th and then the package deal for the rest of the trip. Saved us a total of almost $1200!! (This was on two rooms). Going out now to order flowers and a bottle of wine for my AAA agent!

I just asked the CM on the phone about this. He said that is due to the CM allowing this and they should NOT be doing that. They are supposed to read the terms and conditions on the Codes before booking. The system allowed it though.

This is 193 round trip on Continental with a layover in Houston. The departing flight leaves at 12:55 AM. We prefer Ontario, because my in-laws live less than a mile away. We have flown out of LAX and the direct flight is nice. We will be traveling with a 4 year old and a 3 month old.

I called back a bit later to change a dinner reservation and asked again they applied the code and we saved $1056 !!! So now we booked a wishes cruise! :cool1: Thanks so much for posting the info!!!

I just asked the CM on the phone about this. He said that is due to the CM allowing this and they should NOT be doing that. They are supposed to read the terms and conditions on the Codes before booking. The system allowed it though.

The key is that the system allowed it. Isn't that what matters when you are making ressies, that it is in the system that way, otherwise it would not have been allowed.

The problem with that is, remember a couple years ago when the system allowed the Boardwalk to be booked for like $10 a night or something. Disney had every right to pull those reservations. They have every right to pull this one or any that were booked outside of the terms and conditions of this offer.

First of all, we have stayed and are staying again at ASSp. We were booked at POP for this trip (last one too) but the discount to change was just too big to not do it. We have enjoyed all of our stays at the AllStars and for us, all we want is a clean room, a pool for the kids, laundry and food near by and we get all of that and much more at the AllStars. We saved $1700 off our original booking (2 rooms, 7 people). How can you not have a great stay with numbers like that? FREE DINING for THANKSGIVING WEEK??? We have always been pleased at ASSp and hope you are as well. Funny it was hubby that has wanted to try POP, just to try it, but since we like the All Stars and like spending as little as we need to, we have decided if we never get to POP it will be fine because that will mean we are always getting a good deal!!! Have a geat trip.
Did you get lots of good dining ADRs? We do because we always had the dining plan on our reservation so we booked 180+ days out. Were you the same way? Hope you got some good ones... .enjoy!!!!!

Good to hear about All Star Sports, a clean room is our key too, the wife was the same way, TOO MUCH saving to not do it and be happy about it.

I'm not sure you are asking this of me, but I think I may be able to explain. POP and the AllStars are priced the same, but often the deals are not available or very limited at POP so in order to get the deal you may need to switch to the AllStars (often Sports) to get the discount. Our package is the price you would be quoted for ANY of the values but with the free dining PP had to switch to ASSp. We had already switched to ASSp when we used a different code in August. We gave up that code to pay rack rate so we could get the free dining. Hope that helps.....

This new QXZ code has me all confused. We have a WDW trip scheduled 12/16/08-12/21/08. I originally booked with the fall discount package. The package included for 2A & 2C: 6 day park hoppers, 5 nights @ pop, no dining for $1320.84. When I called to price the exact same package with the QXZ free dining code it was $1507.34. So to me I'm actually getting dining added for $186. But, some people have posted the cost of their vacations going down with the QXZ code & they didn't have dining booked to begin with. We are going with another family who booked the exact same vacation they just have 1 more child & were getting 2 rooms at Pop. The cost of their vacation actually went down $200 dollars by applying the QXZ code instead of the fall discount.
Has anyone been able to make any sense out of this?:confused3

They may have already been paying for the dining and now it's free. That's all I can think of. Yours added 186 but you will eat basically for free. It would cost probably a lot more than that out of pocket to eat for the trip.

The fall discount package gave a discount on the room. QXZ is rack rate for room and tickets and the dining is free. Some people are lucky enough to get the room at a slight discount with QXZ, but the fall package had a bigger discount for the room portion. I switched to FD and my price went down $243 instesd of $430 but it was still worth it.

We live in Cincinnati and had no electric from last Sunday to Thursday, but when I got back online last Friday, I found out about this deal and called right away! Yeah!! I was just able to get the free dining for POR from Dec. 20-25th and it saved me $300 more than the room discount I got in August. My original pacakage (before the August discount) rack rate was $2600 and now it's $1700!! I must have been one of the lucky ones to get free dining and a room discount, because all together I've saved about $900, and the dining plan for my family is only about $500 (2A, 2C for 5 nights).

So does anyone know what determines if you get a room discount with the QXZ discount? Does it depend on the resort, dates, etc.? You would think each code would be the same across the board, but after reading this thread it certainly doesn't seem that way.

I have been asking this question for days. I don't think anyone knows the answer. I think it should be across the board, but, apparently, it's not, and nobody seems to know the answer to this question.

It depends on dates and availability... For example I had quotes for Oct 8-11 at any of the mods (CBR, CSR) with a 10% discount on the room portion. However the fall promo would have been about a 33% discount on the room.

I was quoted today $2300 for courtyard view at the Wilderness lodge, Dec. 20-25, 2A and 2C, dining plan and 6 day base ticket. That would be saving $500 for dining and saving $900 for the room (the rack rate for this package is $3700)

It depends on the season. If you are going in value season, it is just free dining. If you are going in regular or holiday season, it is free dining PLUS the discount.

For those asking about deluxe - We did receive a discount on the room and got free dining. Our package - GV room at Grand Floridian, 7-day hopper and dining plan for 2A/2C would have been $5200. With the fall discount, it was $4650. With the new code, our price is now $4080. The dining plan for us is about $700 for the week. That leaves about $500 for room discount for the week. We are traveling 12/14-12/21.

THANK YOU to everyone for all the discount code information. I feel like we received our Christmas gift early. Three weeks ago I booked 5 night/6 day at GF with 6 day park hopper, for Dec 18 - 23 for 2 adults and 2 children (both over 9 yrs. old). Our original quote was 4,300.00 We were not sure if we could manage that, but decided to hold it for the time being. Two weeks ago I found out about the Fall Magic Your Way promotion and was able to receive that discount for a price of $3,400 and was extremely pleased. Finally, I was checking the boards yesterday and found the Disney/Visa free dining code, we already have a Disney Visa. I called this morning with that free dining code and our final rate INCLUDING dining is $3300.00! We can now afford to go on this vacation and are thrilled. Thanks so much to everyone for sharing current discount codes so we can all make the Disney trip.:dance3:

You also have PHP (hopper) instead of base tix - this itself is $150

I ordered a Disney Visa the day the offer came out, asked for expedited shipping, and agonized over watching everyone get this good deal while I waited for my card... My card came today--I had a 6 night stay at Pop with 6 days of non hopper tickets for 4 with the Fall special for $2096.; even after paying an extra $100. to cancel my first reservation, my total was $1676...I saved $420.!!! :dance3:

Ok... How did you all get expedited shipping or were able to use this online? I applied last night and all I can get is that I'll be notified in 10 days in writing. As of last night, if I change my existing reservation, I'll save just under $1000 so I applied for the card but I'm sure that the availability will be gone in 10 days!

Do you have a phone number that you called to get a person? I can only seem to get voice prompts. I hope this works out. Otherwise we were just talking about dropping some of the days from our trip because we're not sure that we can come up with the total amount due in time.

I know, and unfortunatly I'm not taking it. We are staying at POR instead, because it will be $600 cheaper. This is a bonus trip, because we are going on a Disney cruise March of 2009, so my dh said I have to keep this more budget friendly. I love the Wilderness lodge, but think we'll really enjoy POR too. Being a shorter trip, I don't think we will spend as much time at the resort as we did on our last trip. And we'll have our own car, so transportation won't be much of an issue.

I got in on xmas week with the visa code, but with one extra night, I'm up 700 from the fall package price in Nov.

What's odd is that I'm still saving 200 on a rack rate package without dining...

2A, 1J, 1C - 7nights, 6day hopper in a mod.

fall package - 2368
free dining - 2467
rack rate - 2719

I would drop to a value, however no availability... :(

My nov fall package was 1750 for 6 nights though... I need help justifying it... :)

Our Disney Visa just came this morning. (DH got approved on Monday.) I called and was able to add the dining plan for $196. :cheer2: (We previously booked with the fall special.) Our total for 5 nights at Pop Century with 5 day base tickets was $1125. :thumbsup2 We still must have gotten a small room discount since the total was less than the website. I am so excited. Just decided to take advantage of the Visa free dining. I called this am to get quotes for a trip with my DS20. Our dates are 12/16 to 12/21. The QXZ quote with two 1 day tickets (we are AP holders) and free dining was $616.84 at ASSp. We will apply the value of the one day tickets next time we buy an AP ($75 value each). That means we are eating for 5 days for just over $166.00. Can't beat that.

The AP quote was $350 for room only.

I have a reward flight coupon for SWA and now will just need to pay for 2 tickets down.

Thank you Disney Visa.

I had used the QXG code for fall and got 8nights/9 days for $1312 at ASM for the dates 11/19-11/27, no dining. Now with the FD code QXZ I got the same res for $1698. I am paying $385 more, but dining for 8 days for 2 adults and 2 kids. Does that sound right? I am thinking we couldn't do much better than that for dining anyway and we would have to really scrimp to even do that. This way we have good dining and more food then we will probably be able to eat. Does that make sense? What do you guys think?

This is my first real trip to Disney. Went once in HS for a band trip that only lasted 2 days, so let me know if I am thinking correctly on how expensive dining will be.

Thanks,

That sounds like a great deal! We (our family of six) had a similar situation... when we switched from the fall discount to the free dining, our price went up $500, but like you, I figured we couldn't feed our family for a week at Disney for much less than that - and now we won't have to scrimp, and can eat at fun places.

I called this morning to check on a Disney Visa free dining package at AKL. The total for 4 nights (12/18-22) with free dining and a one-day base ticket each was $1364. When I checked the rack rates with a one-day ticket and no dining, the cost was $1916. So, I got free dining and a savings of $552 ($138 per night) off the room rate!!:cool1:

This is a total savings of $1150 (if I had to pay for dining) - not that I would have ever paid $2524 for 4 nights in the first place. In fact, the rate I did get is kind of high, but this is a combined Christmas present for the family and birthday presents for me and my DD. I cannot wait!!

Wow - so I paid like $1150 for 5 days and 4 nights @ POP, free dining, 5 day base tickets, for 3 adults (26, 22, and 16). I wonder if I could switch to AKL for not much more money??

They only have a 1 day base ticket, you have a 5 day base ticket for 4 people. So that alone will significantly increase your price if you switch to AKL.

They had a 1 day base ticket for 4 people, I would have a 5 day base ticket for 3 people. I may just call and ask and see what the price is. If it's only $100-$200 I might bite the bullet and upgrade! If I call I'll post back here and let everyone know what the price is.

We had two rooms on free dining at ASMusic (we just don't fit well in two double beds), and the total price was about $950, so I figured AKL is worth about $100 more per night.

Good luck!:thumbsup2

I'm a little confused. This offer is basically supposed to add Free Dining to the standard Magic Your Way package price, right?

I got a quote on the website for:
7 nts @ ASMu; 11/12-11/18; Stand Rm; (2) adults; (2) 7-day w/ Park-Hopper only; no insurance = $1235.78

However, when I call and ask for the exaxt same thing, and then ask to add the Free Dining from Dis-Visa they say it comes out to $1363.

I asked why the free dining adds nearly $130, and they said they don't know, but it may because the Disney Visa package may be priced differently. The quote I did online is for rack rates, regular ticket prices, no discounts. This seems like false advertising. The claim you can add free dining to a MYW package, but it increases the total price and they can't tell you why.

Can anyone make any sense of this? Thanks-

The $127 or so is more likely insurance. Unless you specifically ask them to quote you without it, they include it. Also, verify they did not include the water option to the tickets or made it into an 8 day tix (they typically do tix for the number of days, not nights)

In fact, depending on the dates you should be saving some money from rack rate, if there's availability.

I booked my package at the disney site today (9/26) for travel 11/19 thru 11/25 at ASMu. Then paid deposit with regular CC. I called back this evening to get the free dining using my Disney Visa (just rec'd in mail) and they said they couldn't apply the QXZ code. What am I doing wrong? Is it because I booked the package today so it is too late? Is the Disney Visa free dining offer expired? Help!!

I booked a free dining package today, so I don't think it's expired yet. I also booked online, used my newly-approved Disney Visa for the deposit, and then called to add the free dining. The CM had to check to make sure that the deposit was paid via the Disney Visa, and it was no problem. Maybe you need to have them refund your original deposit and put it on the Disney Visa?:confused3

Try again with another CM tomorrow morning. Good luck!:goodvibes

Thanks for the replies to my question regarding my online quote being one price, and then the price quoted over the phone w/ free dining being more - Let me clarify a few things

1-I mistakenly put 7 nites in my original post, but it should have read 6
2-I made sure that the person I spoke to on the phone created the reservation exactly as I did online (standard rm, no insurance, same nts, same park tix) - they confirmed, but couldn't explain the difference in price
3-The price quote I did myself online was for rack rates, w/ no discount

What I can't understand is why the price goes up w/ free dining. "free Dining" implies it is just that: "Free". If it costs "X" amount for MYW package at rack rate w/ no discount, the free dining offer should be that same price and just include "free dining". Seems that for "Free Dining" they magically increase the price of a full-price package. That definitely is not "Magic My Way".

We are staying at the Yacht Club for 8 nights starting on 12/19 and with the code we are saving on the room rate plus free dining.

No, it hasn't expired yet. But, it may be that, like kath1210 said, they check to be sure previously made ressies were made with the disney visa card. She checked ours and I think that had I not used our d.v., she would have told me we couldn't get the free dining. I think that you should call tomorrow and cancel your first ressie and make a new one using your d.v. and then they should be able to give you the free dining if it's available at the resort you want to stay at. When I called this week to add the free dining to an existing reservation, the CM first checked to see if it was available, when it was, she said since I originally used my AMEX to make the $200.00 deposit I could leave that $200.00 on my AMEX and make an additional $200.00 deposit using my Disney VISA to use the QXZ free dining code. Also, using the free dining code our already discounted fall promotional rate dropped an additional $130.00 (plus we received the free dining). When you call on Saturday, perhaps you can ask them to make a new deposit with your Disney Visa.

I think the small discounts people are seeing might have something to do with overlap between one rate period to another (value, reg, high, holiday, weekday, weekend, etc). I think the Disney Visa code is allowing the weekday price on the weekend, etc. Just a non-educated guess!

My room rate discount was not small, though - $552 over 4 nights, or about $140 per night. That's way better than any AP discount I ever got.

It does seem like they have the better room discounts the week prior to Christmas, though.

no insurance. I think I figured it out. The disney visa free dining is basically 20% off rack plus free dining. I looked up the rack rates for our stay (11/19-11/25) and then took 20% off and then added my park tickets. It came out to 1659.00. I originally booked my package with the other discount code NYB so when added the free dining they remove the NYB code and replaced it with the free dining code. I wonder if others have been able to use both codes. It sounds like they did. Hmm.

We weren't able to use both codes - first had the fall code, then switched to free dining. Price went up about $500, but now the six of us won't have to pay for a week of food... so I figured that was at least as good as I could do, trying to save money. And it's still a little lower than the rooms would be at rack rate...

Yes, but you can apply for a Disney Visa, and if approved, can use it right away to make a reservation.

Just go to the Reservations Landing at www.disneyworld.com, then click on Special Offers. Apply for the Disney Visa through the link there. Once approved, you'll need to make a reservation online without free dining, but then you can call and have the free dining code applied to your ressie. I just did this yesterday and it worked like a charm!:thumbsup2

Once your approved wouldn't it also be okay to just call and book a package all at one time? You would need to tell them you want to book a package with free dining. You would have to get at least a one day base ticket for each in your party, if you weren't already planning on getting tickets for the whole trip. If you don't need the ticket, you can save it till someday that you do. They would have you make a deposit with your new d.visa. Pretty easy! :goodvibes

What if i've already made a reservation?
Just call and tell them you'd like to apply the d.visa FD code to your current ressie. Shouldn't be a problem if they have room at the resort you want. Ask them to play with the dates a bit if you are flexible with your dates, or check other resorts if your first choice is all booked up. They will check to see if you've made a previous deposit using a d.visa already. If not, they should be able to take another deposit with your d.visa with this change to the ressie. Also, if you didn't have tickets already bought with the package, you'll have to buy a one day base ticket for each person, but you can hang on to those until whenever you need them on another trip if you want to. :thumbsup2

i am thinking of a last minute trip. i too have an AP and will be getting a 1 day ticket to take advantage of this deal. how exactly does that work? is the ticket not activated until you use it? can anyone use the ticket? i ask because i am going back next year and could give the 1 day ticket away as i will still have my AP. Exactly, the ticket is not activated until you use it, so you can save it till you need it. Yes, theoretically anyone can use it because it's not tied to you by the fingerprint scan yet or anything, so you could give it away. Or, you could also always save it for when you don't have an AP. Either way works! :)

To a PP that I forgot to quote, to find new info on new codes that come out, just keep an eye on the Codes and Rates forum, someone always posts the new info for sure! :thumbsup2 Also, if you have a d.visa, they usually send out an email announcing the newest code when they have one. But, that's not to say they are always timely! I got mine from d.visa later in the afternoon after I had already adjusted my resort package to add the FD, having learned about it here on the codes and rates forum the night before! (On a previous offer, I, and others, got emails a week later than finding out here!). Actually, I hadn't been here in a few days and thought, hey I'll check just in case, but not expecting anything as it hadn't been that long since the last Gen.Public code in Aug, and certainly not expecting FD. I had had a code I found here back in Aug that was a great deal, but so was the FD so went with that! :cool1:

sorry to be so wordy tonight! :goodvibes

There's something wrong...

For example, (and this is while the Fall packages were still available):

CBR in late Dec, 2A, 1J, 1C - 6day tix, w/hopper, no water, no ins

Fall Package $1989
QXZ (Free Dining) $2151

If I would add dining to the Fall package, it would have been an extra 750 (38 x3 + 10) x 6

I would call back and try with someone else...

The samples "Per Person, Per Day" Disney posts are based on a sample "Disney Family" of 2 adults, 1 Junior and 1 Child. Tickets will be for the number of days and are only base tickets.

You would need to figure out the room only charge, then adding the tickets based on how you want it to get a real quote.

If you want free dining, you have to use a package, which means that you would have to add a 1 day base ticket per person. What you can do however is not use that one day ticket and save it for the future. You will be able to apply it even to your next year AP purchase (as a $75 credit). I think you have to request to get that ticket be printed as a paper ticket instead of having it added to your key to the world.

Look around at the other threads as this is discussed very frequently (search for AP rates).

:goodvibes

The problem with both of these options is that you do not know your newly-approved Disney Visa number yet, and neither do the CMs. If you make a reservation right after you are approved, the new Visa number is already on the site as one of your payment choices, but you can only see the last 4 digits.

If you make the reservaiton online, then the CM can check it and confirm that you used a Disney Visa, and can then apply free dining.

If I had an existing reservation, I'd make a new one online and then cancel the prior one.

Interesting, thanks for the info on that! I was wondering if maybe that was a reason to do it online, and I guess that is the case. I just didn't really know they did that. Works out pretty well then if you can get approved right away!

This one I still don't get. If she already has a d.visa, why wouldn't she just call and ask to apply the new code (FD, or whatever code was being offered by d.visa) and put on a new deposit with the d.visa? Or are you saying to do this if she is just now getting the d.visa but doesn't know the number yet, as talked about in the above quote in this post? I thought when a pp asked about what to do with an existing reservation, well, I wasn' thinking she didn't have the d.visa yet. Maybe I read it wrong and was just confused. :confused3

Bummer! Does just signing up for a visa get any special discounts or rates?

Well, it doesn't appear that it will help you with room discounts or free dining for THIS vacation.....but Disney VISA holders often get to sign up for deals before AP holders and the general public. In fact, when the fall codes were announced in August, there was a huge uproar because the Disney VISA holders didn't get to sign up before everyone else and there were lots of complaints. Of course, now we know WHY they were seemingly "excluded" from the fall deals, because Disney VISA had even better codes available to them.....but until those came out there were a LOT of unhappy people, lol.

In years past, the codes for the Aug/Sep free dining have been released in April sometime.....and Disney VISA holders would usually get their codes at least a week before AP or GP, so that meant that they had first dibs on the rooms available. Once it was released to the AP/GP it wasn't any different of a deal, just that with the VISA you got to book sooner. Since some deluxe resorts are very limited on availablity, that can often be a very big perk if deluxe is your choice. It does seem as though for Value/Moderate the earlier booking wasn't really as big of a deal.

This is the first time EVER that Disney has offered free dining after the normal Aug/Sep time frame. A VERY select few people have received an email or postcard with a PIN Code for the free dining, but otherwise, the only way to get it has been by having a Disney VISA card. Since this offer is so unprecedented, there is no way of knowing if this is something they'll offer again next year, or if it has more to do with the economy, or whatever. We won't know that until, well, next year, lol.

But....there are other perks to having the Disney VISA besides the hope that there will be a special room rate or other discount on vacation packages...... Go to disneyrewards.com to see what's currently offered.

A couple of perks off the top of my head: Reward dollars (we've earned over $500 since last fall when we got the card); exclusive meet and greet plus a free print of that visit; discounts at World of Disney; being able to defer payment with zero interest for 6 months on your vacation packages.

There is no annual fee, so as long as you use the card once per year to keep it active, so I figure it's a good thing to have on hand so you'll be able to quickly and easily take advantage of the deals when they come up, because there is rarely more than a day or two of advance notice and honestly....I know there are many people who have applied and are awaiting their card, but from other threads it appears that the free dining rooms are down to slim pickin's....so they may have applied too late for this year's deal. If you don't want to use it except to keep it active, I'd still get it just so it's on hand when you need it.

No you are not confused. Paying the deposit on an old reservation will work if you have the Disney Visa in your hand, but it won't work if you just applied online and were approved, since you won't know the number yet.:goodvibes

Not sure how it works but when I did my online app for the visa, the card # showed up as an option to pay on the disney site THE NEXT DAY, so I was able to get in on the deal right away. I didnt get the card until a week after, but it was on the site to be used for booking :thumbsup2

Oh, okay, thanks! I'm just glad I've got my d.visa and it helped me get the FD! Actually, FD in itself, just for the two of us was about the same deal we had with the gen. pub. DGL code we had first. But, being that there was a small room discount (even though they said no room discount!), of $162 definitely made the FD over a bit better than the other one. I also look at it like I kept my discount and paid $500(cause that's what we had to pay extra for bringing our room/tickets up to (discounted or changed to value rate) rack rate), for our food, whatever we get, no matter how expensive! :goodvibes

I just booked Pop Century Nov. 11-16 with a 1 day base ticket and free dining. Standard Room, 1 person.

$540.07!!!

The full price comparable package online was $826.07.
The room only price with the latest discount online was $501.

I had been considering cancelling the plane ticket I had booked, but I couldn't pass on this deal.

I just booked All Star Sports from 12/20 - 12/24 for $589.23 for 2 adults and 1 child. That includes 1-day 1-park passes (we have APs). When you subtract the park passes ($226) I get $90 per night with taxes or about $80 pre-tax. Rack rate is $139 per night!

POR was $889 for the same dates.

I really want to stat at All Star Movies, so I'll be calling back every once in a while to see if it comes available. It's available for $91 per night with the room only Fall Discount Code.

I just received my Disney Visa card and I updated to this code. I added a day (11/22) to fall in the free dinning window and saved $256.40. I went from 6 nights to 7 nights and from 7-day park hopper to 8-day park hopper. We are staying at CSR, DW, DD15, DD11 and SD. I was booked under the old Fall Promotion with deluxe dinning and the cm was able to update me to the new code, modify my prior reservation and confirm my new dates and rates. It's not to late to change and only one day has to fall in the non-black out window for the free dinning to apply to the whole trip. Free Dinning for the week of Thanksgiving.

No, you can not start the free dining on the 13th. Just like the free dining promo in the fall, you can book your free dining trip past the actual end date, but never before. We have a room-only reservation on the 13th and then our package will start on the 14th. I have not seen anyone post that they got free dining starting on Dec. 13.

It is my understanding that your check-in day has to fall within the promotion window. You can extend your vacation past the end of the promotion but the first day has to start durting the promotion. The only way to add the 13th would be as a separate non-free dining reservation as far as I know.

You can just get the 1 day pass with the package and then upgrade the day you use the ticket to a FL AP. WDW will apply the cost of the 1 day towards the AP. My daughter did need a ticket during our trip and she upgraded her 1 day to a 4 day. We already had AP so just are saving our 1 day for when we need to renew! If never used the ticket is still good!

Yes this is correct.

For the 13th, it has to be a separate rez. A room only is what you would do, and pay for dining a la carte.

However, for tickets, it's possible to get the tickets from the package rez ahead of time, however it's a HUGE YMMV. Certain sup CMs know how to do it.

So in this case for someone wanting to do 13-20th, you would do

13th - room only
14-20th - package and an extra day of tickets

Does anyone have any advice on how to approach the CM's regarding checkin dates for FD? I have friends who are going on Nov 23 til Dec 1st. When I told her about this FD, but it ended on Nov 22 and she'd need to checkin by the 22nd to get the FD. So, she called to try to do this and the CM told her no, it was not possible and Thanksgiving week was blocked off, no FD. I know that I've read a number of times on here, and recently, too, about posters whose trips either extended a few days, or even checked in on Nov 22 for a week or more and they got the FD. They either got it first time around or called back a few times. Friends have 11 people and three rooms in their party for All star sports. I tried to call, since I know the deal and all, ;) , but it didn't work out too well. They needed every little detail of who was going, exact age, who in which room, I just wanted a group total, but w.e. When I got a room price I asked about FD and they said oh no, Thanksgiving blacked out, and then he hung up on me! Not too happy about that, and I had been really nice even though I rather frustrated with him. Anyway, anyone have any thoughts on what to do? If they didn't ever do this, I wouldn't care. This isn't even a real friend, more aquaintance, but I know they're doing it with checkin by Nov 22 pretty regularly, as I've read on these boards. Any helpful advice? Thanks :goodvibes !

I know there are no value resorts availible with these dates for the free DP or any of the other fall discounts. I know because theses are our dates and we have been trying over and over. How picky it has gotten (as far as prying into the CM's) is why have not called to see if a Visa space has opened up during my dates at POP instead of All-Star Sports. Just nervous about AS but don't want to risk them seeing I'm a few days out of date on my dining (even though I upgraded to deluxe).

In My2Angels's case the CM didn't even want to plug in her dates because they thought that she was ineligible. It turned out that the CM was wrong and she got her reservation.

Yippie! Persistence pays off again!

I called CRO this morning and I was able to change from All Star Sports to All Star Movies! I went from a standard room to a preferred room, but that's OK with me. It took me about 6-7 phone calls over the last 9 days but I finally got what I wanted.

So if you are told that your first choice resort is booked solid, call back and maybe you'll be lucky too :wizard:.

We called to make reservations for free dining a few days ago. Tried to do arrival 20th-26th (Dec) so incoming on the last day listed as free dining. First CM told us we would only get free dining on the 20th, that was the last day. So we didnt make reservations. 2nd CM said we could do through the 24th but the 24th was the last day (not sure if this was due to room availability or dining 'dates'), so we changed our dates to the 18th-24th and made the ressie. Less than 12 hours later, at 7:30am the next morning we called back and asked to modify the reservation for to the 20th-26th, that CM looked and said no problem, put it through and even helped us alter our dining reservations. Her 'notes' showed that Visa free dining was depending ONLY on arrival date, 12/20 being the last arrival date for which free dining was available. So 3 different CMs, 3 different stories. But lucky for us i guess, the last one booked the dates we wanted (and originally were told there was no free dining for). I can't believe it, 6 nights over Christmas at a moderate (POR-Riverside) for 3 adults and 2 kids, dining plan, plus 1 day base tickets (we're passholders and will use them to renew our passes which are due for renewal in dec--so includes $71/person avg towards our next years passes) for $1530. That's insane, really. When we called previously to make passholder reservations for over Xmas (7 nights, though, not 6) it was going to be over $1200 for room only! My husband thought i was confused and made me call back to recheck that i had the info right because this is probably the cheapest with-dining trip we've had ever had a moderate!

Our vacation was all set for CBR arriving 11/21/08 and leaving 11/28/08 for our Grand Gathering of 11. We had three "preferred" rooms and 8 day park hopper passes. We had also paid for the Disney Dining Plan. My portion is for four adults (really two adults and two teenagers) and our total cost was about $3900. When I heard about the Free Dining Code QXZ, I got excited - could we possibly get free dining for our trip???? Well I have to tell you, after several calls and speaking with many different CM's (all with different stories) we got our free dining for all 11 of our group. Just to give you an idea of our savings, my trip now cost me $2650 - a savings of $1200!!!
We did have to give up our preferred room, but hopefully we won't be too far from the main pool and food court area. All I can tell anyone is please be persistant. Our reservations were made and our trip paid for. My sister and I already had our Disney Visa cards. I used mine to pay for most of my trip but my sister had not used hers at all. The only thing she had to do was to now use her Disney card to pay her $200 deposit (her original deposit will be credited back to the credit card she originally used). Also, they charged us each a $50.00 fee for changing our reservation. Small price to pay to get a refund of $1200 - and that was just for me. My sister saved over $800 and her daughter saved over $700. All in all, for a group of 11, we saved over $2700. The best piece of advice I read was to be persistant and keep calling until you get a CM that will process your request. Additionally, we only have two days of our trip that are within the "window" of availability for the dining. We had several CM's tell us it would not cover our dates, or it would only cover two days of our trip. Finally, we got a CM that agreed that our dates would be covered. This trip just gets more special by the day!:cool1: thanks to everyone's comments in this thread, reading them gave me the info I needed to make this happen.
