View Full Version : Ton's O' Pic's...again Deluxe Free Dining....mmmmm Food (9/2008)

Hello...again. This is our 4th year (in a row) for September free dining. This year we decided to live it up a bit. So we upgraded to the deluxe dining. The added cost was $300 for the 5 nights for both of us. We also stayed this year at the Wilderness Lodge. We had a standard room booked, but when checking in we got a free bump up to courtyard view. Already this was looking up. I had stayed here twice before, but my wife has not, so this was extra special for her. The previous 3 trips we stayed at POP century. I am not going to be listing the days of the meals since it's irrelevant. Most people just care about seeing and hearing how the food was. This was a LOT of food. We used the 3 credits a day each for 1 table service lunch and a 2 credit signature dining. PLUS the 2 snack credits each daily made it tough
but we managed to leave no credits behind.
Also I eat meat, I am a meatetarian, my wife is a vegetarian. So I will have her comment on her meals for any vegetarians.
Just a little FYI, we took the
tour at the vacation club after seeing the invite in the room, they give
you a $100 gift card right there at the end of the 90min tour to use. We
took it the 2nd day there first thing in the morning so we used the free $100
the rest of the trip. Well worth it.
For anyone that has missed my previous 3 food pictorial reports her are the links.

BREAD BASKET
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/TuttoItalia-breads.jpg
Nothing special, but a good selection of breads.
CAESAR SALAD
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/TuttoItalia-caesarsalad.jpg
I LOVED this salad, the waiter goofed up and told me I could get this as my
appetizer and I found out I shouldn't have been able to get it. But I am glad he goofed, It was really good, but they must be on crack to think they should charge $16 for a SALAD! WHAT are they thinking??? But it was great.
MINASTRONE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/TuttoItalia-pastafagioli.jpg
WIFE: It was very tasty and filling soup. I was stuffed afterwards but still managed to eat more.
PASTA PRIMAVARA
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/TuttoItalia-pastaprimavara.jpg
WIFE: It was a great pasta dish. I was very happy with it.
CHICKEN CUTLET MILANESE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/TuttoItalia-chickencutletmilanese.jpg
This was chicken nirvana.OH MY, I LOVED it. It was hands down the BEST
chicken cutlet I ever had ( i have had MANY). I did have a gravy boat of red gravy (not shown) and that was heaven also. If you love chicken GET THIS.
Don't even consider any other dishes, trust me ( you don't even know me)
but trust me anyway. if you don't love it I will refund your money (yea right).
SOOOOOO clucking good.
CANNOLI
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/TuttoItalia-cannoli.jpg
It was good, I have had better in south philly ( im from philly),
but it still was descent. the shell could have been crisper, probably prestuffed?
COPETTA SOTTO BOSCO
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/TuttoItalia-copettasottobosco.jpg
Again it was good, nothing special, certainly not worth the $14 drug dealer price. I have no clue to why it would even be priced anywhere near that price. maybe they owe the mob money...
All in all I LOVE it here. I have eaten a Alfredo's in the past and this BLOWS it away. Make a stop here if you want great food at HIGH prices...HA HA

Nice and colorful, great typeface. Easy to read and comprehend. :)
PORK EGG ROLLS
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/YakYeti-eggrolls.jpg
WOW, a total surprise. I never had fresher and more tasty eggrolls EVER.
I don't know why they were SO good, but they were. I wasn't going to eat all 3 full size eggrolls as they were brought out but after biting the first one I couldn't stop eating them all.....get in me, all of you MMMMMM
FRIED GREENBEANS
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/YakYeti-friedgreenbeans.jpg
WIFE:The BEST vegetarian appetizer EVER.
ME:I also liked them but only ate a few. They were very good as well.
Those little green fried yummy sticks, what a way to make a veggie unhealthy real quick, but tastier.
SHAOXING STEAK & SHRIMP
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/YakYeti-shaoxingsteakshrimp.jpg
It was the 2nd best steak of my steak eating trip. I was very shocked.
I was expecting a tough & tasteless piece of meat but got the opposite.
Very good shrimp as well. I loved this dish.
VEGETARIAN LO MEIN
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/YakYeti-veggielomein.jpg
WIFE:The waitress was so nice, she made sure that this lo mein was cooked in a pan with no previous meat used in it. It was very tasty and not greasy at all like other past lo meins. Highly recommended.
FRIED WONTONS WITH ICECREAM
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/YakYeti-friedwontons.jpg
I liked this dessert the wife didn't care for it. It was different and tasty.
MANGO PIE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/YakYeti-mangopie.jpg
WIFE: this was good, it was nice and light. Great taste.
ME: I don't care much for mango's so I don't really care much for this.
We both loved this place. Very nice inside and a great window seat upstairs over looking the park. The waitress was wonderful and the best server of the trip. The food was outstanding and we didn't expect it going in. A must do every future trip.

CRAB CAKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/FlyingFish-crabcake.jpg
YUM, HOLY SHIP, This was the best crab cake I ever had.
Perfect crispy breading, nice crab chunks inside, great sauce.
Just perfect. If you love crab get this, OR ELSE!;)
LOBSTER CINCO QUESOS QUESADILLA
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/FlyingFish-lobstercincoquesosquesad.jpg
A very interesting delicious blend of food. I liked it very much, but the crab cake still wins.
LIGURIAN TROFIE PASTA
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/FlyingFish-liguriantrofiepasta.jpg
WIFE: This pasta was just OK, it was nothing special and a let down
considering the place. unfortunately this was my only choice.
NY STRIP STEAK & POTATOES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/FlyingFish-stripsteakpotatoesbrocco.jpg
This was a HUGE let down. I had ordered it med.well and when I cut into it, the meat was raw! I flagged down the waiter (who was not very good) and he brought it back. It had come back completely burnt on the outside and the inside was dry like leather. So I tried to eat some of it but got pissed off and just left it. He seen I had not really eaten it and asked what was wrong. I told him and he got the manager. he treated me like I should have just accepted it and ate it anyway. Never apologizing or offering to re-cook another steak. So all in all my steak was not good. You
would think for a $42 steak they might want to cook it to order.
COCONUT SORBET
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/FlyingFish-cocnutsorbetcoolglass.jpg
The waiter brought this out while I was waiting for them to further screw up my steak. The sorbet was good, light and refreshing. (yes I get annoyed retelling this story as you can see)
PINEAPPLE/COCONUT PANNA COTTA
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/FlyingFish-pinapplepassioncoconutpa.jpg
It was just OK, " that's all I have to say about this."( quoting Forrest Gump)
CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CAKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/FlyingFish-chocPBtart.jpg
This was very good. I don't remember the exact name and I couldn't find it anywhere, even on my receipt ( it just says choc.cake) But I loved it. If you like chocolate and who doesn't ( I see you, about to write you don't like chocolate, so just forget it put down your fingers and stop now, this doesn't pertain to you anyway :) ) order this.
All in all, I liked it the first time I ate here years ago. Would I go back here again? NO. The server sucked and the manager pissed me off so much, just on principle alone I would NEVER go back. So the hell with Flying Fish, plus it's not worth the 2 credits each.
LOTS MORE TO COME TOMORROW..... STAYED TUNED, THANKS FOR READING

I'm having such a great time reading your reviews - entertaining, yet informative! (and great photos). You don't mince around with words and get right to the point!
That steak at Flying Fish has me worried! :scared1: I promised DH he could get a good steak there (for upcoming trip) and I could get a fish. More scary than how it was cooked was the "attitude". The peanut butter chocolate thing was under consideration for dessert and that does indeed look good, thanks for the recommendation of that dessert!

ORANGE & VANILLA MILKSHAKES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/LTT-orangevanshakes.jpg
We got these as our beverages and they were nice and thick.
Good shakes, creamy and rich. You need a shake to go with your burger
don't you? Hell ya you do. Plus who wants to drink the crappy water down there, I really don't.
CRAB CAKES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/LTT-crabcakes.jpg
These were as good as last year, so that was a good thing. Moist not
very bready, descent crab taste. These were not as good as the one at flying fish, but none really are. Get them if your in the mood, if not I will let you order something else. It's OK you have my blessing.
FRIED CHEESES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/LTT-friedcheeses.jpg
What could I say about fried cheeses other than, YUM. It's frick'in cheese thats fried. How could that not be good. Oh yea unless your lactose intolerant, then maybe you wouldn't like these, so stick with something easier on your tummy.HAHAHA. The long sticks are mozzarella and the little balls are white cheddar, both equally delicious in the red gravy. Go on and get this, tell them Jay said so.
LIBERTY PASTA
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/LTT-libertypasta.jpg
WIFE: it was a good pasta dish. But it's getting slim pickings for us vegetarians. tasty and filling.
ME: I tasted it, and it was tasty, but I'm not a pasta fan, hence why I love the meat. Remember meat is murder, tasty tasty murder.
BACON CHEESEBURGER & FRIES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/LTT-baconcheeseburger.jpg
Thats right another piece of meat, whats it to ya. This was a good tasty perfectly cooked juicy burger with nice crispy bacon ( MMMM more meat).
I had this last year and it was the same, damn good. The fries were good as well, plus the roll was a fresh kaiser roll which was good for a change.AHHHH the pickle, was crisp and sour just the way it should be ( I LOVE pickles). All in all a good burger. Go get it even if you don't eat meat, it's OK.
3 CHOCOLATE BROWNIE WITH CHERRY ICECREAM
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/LTT-3chocbrowniecherryicecream.jpg
Only had a few bites of this, but it was good. I just liked the other dessert WAY more.
OOEY GOOEY TOFFEE CAKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/LTT-Ooeygooeytoffeecake.jpg
HOLY CRAP, was this AWESOME. It's like the magic cookie bar in a warm cake like consistency. Plus it has some sweet fluids on it (?) AND vanilla icecream. How the hell could you NOT like that, HUH? You can't thats how.
I had the butter grilled pound cake last year, and they replaced that with this. It is just as worthy. So don't worry, it will be alright. Order it or just don't bother getting dessert.
I still love these place for a lunch in the kingdom. Plus our waiter here was the second best of the trip, just a notch below the waitress at Yak & Yeti. He was on the ball, and very nice. My wife was going to order the tofu and he told her not to get it because it was AWFUL. How could you not love the honesty in that. So eat here for lunch and you will leave happy, if not OH well. Sorry.
MORE COMING LATER TODAY, PROMISE. STAY TUNED.....OR ELSE
Loving your honest comments and amazing pictures. Can't wait for more!!!! Well, I guess I will have to wait but I don't want to wait. Post soon please.

THE MENU
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-anniversarymenu.jpg
It was a nice menu. It had our name at the top for our anniversary.
So nice and thoughtful of them.
BREAD & BUTTER WITH HAWAIIAN SEA SALT
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-breadbutterwithhawaiian.jpg
The bread was OK, a little bit of a weird after taste, but the butter
was great with the Hawaiian salt on top. I love artisan salts.
CHOCOLATE & MANGO SMOOTHIES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-chocolatemangosmoothies.jpg
I got the chocolate smoothie and I liked it a lot. I thought it was a little
weird, but I was wrong, very good. The mango one was good also. We
were able to get these as our drinks. If your thirsty get one, or don't. It really doesn't matter to me, since I don't know you anyway.
ARTISAN CHEESES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-artisancheeses.jpg
WIFE: again not much for me here. I love cheese but none of these I cared for.
ME: I tried a little nibble as well, they SUCKED hard. The cheddar was OK, but not my favorite kind of cheddar. I love cheese by the way, but didn't like these. OH well, not my appetizer.
CRAB CAKES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-crabcakes.jpg
Crab in a cake, OH YEA. Very good. I liked these a lot but Flying Fish still is the winner for best crab cakes. Ya know, I just realized how many crab cakes I ate on this trip. I just figured that out. (more crab cakes to come)
VEGETARIAN PLATTER
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-veggieplatterasparagusc.jpg
WIFE: The platter was GREAT, had lots of variety. A must eat for vegetarians. It had on it: cous cous, broccoli fritters, tofu cakes, asparagus with a sauce.
ME: I tried the broccoli and the asparagus and I liked them very much.
SURF & TURF
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-surfturf.jpg
I loved this meal. The steak was perfect. So tender and perfectly seasoned. The lobster was a bit over cooked, hence the slight toughness to it, but after lubing it up in the butter bath, it helped. How could hot drippy butter NOT help anything. If you stuck a tire in it, it would even taste good. The au gratin potatoes were very good also, tender and cheesy (again cheese on anything AWESOME). It was a perfect platter of 2 lovely tasty animals that ended up in my belly.
ALMOND CRUSTED CHEESECAKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-almondcrustedcheesecake.jpg
OK once again cheese + cake= frigg'in YUM. The cheesecake was very good. Nice crispy sweet almonds. I really liked it. The wife not so much, even though she likes cheesecake? Go figure, more for me.
CREME BRULEE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Narcoossees-cremebrulee.jpg
WIFE: It was good. I have had better, but still tasty.
ME: I tried it and it was just OK, I do love a good brulee, but since she liked
this more than the cheesecake I only tasted it and pounded the cheesecake away all by myself. ( Hey MOM I'm a big boy now, can I go ride bikes. Did you finish your dinner, YES. OK then go on....) just a side thought
FINAL THOUGHTS ON THIS MEAL:
In closing I would like to thank Narcoossees for providing a very tasty meal in a romantic setting. I also would like to thank the cows & lobsters for sacrificing yourselves for us people to really enjoy how tasty you are. Thank you and have a good night.
MUCH MORE STILL COMING, SO KEEP YOUR BUTS PLANTED AND NO PEE BREAKS. GOT IT. I KNOW WHERE YOU SLEEP.....:lmao:

CHERRY CHOCOLATE COKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BeachesCream-cherrychocolatecoke.jpg
I NEVER drink regular soda, but I love this concoction, plus it's vacation.
The waitress was surprised by this combo. I was shocked she had never heard of it. Maybe it's a philly area thing? But she did a great job of making it. If you like the above mentioned flavors, order it and you will see how good it is. Or just make it at home, why the hell did I not think of that until now?
I think I am going to the store to get some cherry juice and chocolate syrup.
ONION RINGS
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BeachesCream-onionrings.jpg
They give you a TON of rings. They are as good as last time. Crispy, not to
greasy. My only suggestion would be to season them as soon as the come out of the fryer for better salt coverage. But who am I to tell them, I am just a Internet food reviewer, they could care less about my suggestions.
FRIES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BeachesCream-fries.jpg
Nothing special, the onion rings are WAY better. I love fries, but these just
don't do it for me. Maybe if they but cheese on it, yea thats what it needs
CHEESE. It makes anything better, even open wounds.
VEGGIE BURGER
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BeachesCream-veggieburgerfruit.jpg
WIFE: AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL, I can't believe they don't have a real veggie burger. This is just a boca burger. YUCK!
ME: I DID NOT try it, but just look at it, would you eat it. I might eat it if I was in a bear trap stuck in the woods and already ate all of the greenery around me, thats if I didn't bleed out already.
DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BeachesCream-doublecheeseburgerfrui.jpg
AHHHH real meat. It was very tasty and juicy. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I don't like anything on my burgers (except bacon, onion and cheese) so a good burger must be seasoned and seared just right. I had fruit on the side, it was good. But it's just fruit. I really wasn't that hungry by the time this came out but still managed to eat every last piece of that tasty tasty cow. Thanks Betsy you were delicious. ( that sounds like a cows name, right?) MOOOOO
MILKYWAY CAKE SUNDAE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BeachesCream-milkywaysundae.jpg
YUM & YUM. It's frigg'in ice cream, cake & candy. What the hells is not to like, right?
NO WAY JOSE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BeachesCream-nowayjosesundae.jpg
Let me say, Mr.Jose I love you. With all your peanut buttery insides, and how the chocolate fudge just streams through your veins. How you also have tasty balls of vanilla ice cream just sitting in you with droplets of chips all on your head. Your frothy cap of whipped cream is delightful as well. Thank you Mr.Jose. You were so good. We will always have Beaches & Cream. Remember me OK?
Beaches is a great place to get ice cream & burgers (which most of you already know) The place is small, so most times there is a wait, but worth it. If you stop by say "HI" to Mr.Jose for me,OK?
MORE STILL COMING,STOP BEING SO IMPATIENT.

PLATE 1
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Boma-hamcheeseomeletcornbeefhashwaf.jpg
Ham & cheese pre-made omelet, corned beef hash something or other (but surprisingly tasty) crispy tasty waffle with butter & syrup.
PLATE 2
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Boma-pancakefrenchtoastpapeggs.jpg
pancakes,raisin frenchtoast,pap,pre-made cheese omelet.
PLATE 3
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Boma-eggeovereasybaconpotatoes.jpg
fresh cooked eggs over easy, crispy yummy non-greasy bacon ( or as I like to stay "porky pig strips" ) and potatoes.
PLATE 4
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/Boma-pasteriesfruit.jpg
fruit,miscellaneous pastries.
Everything here is tasty and fresh. I have had this once before and didn't care for it as much as this time. Don't know why but it seemed better. I like the layout of the food pods. I have never tried dinner here nor have wanted too. I also think the price for breakfast had gone down since the last time I was here. Anytime there is a giant row of foods you are allowed to eat as much as you want, it's a good thing.
YES! THERE IS STILL MORE, STOP NAGGING

MENU ( and my wife)

AHHH what a pretty sight, and the menu too.
DRINK COASTER

It's just a coaster, you really weren't expecting a review or witty comment on this were you?
SODA BREAD
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/RaglanRoad-sodabread.jpg
It's soda bread, never a fan never will be. MEH
CRAB SALAD
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/RaglanRoad-crabsalad.jpg
This was different but in a good way. Crap, another crab cake.
I think I feel claws growing out of my hands.
MUSHROOM SOUP
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/RaglanRoad-mushroomsoup.jpg
WIFE: The best soup I ever had. Wonderful.
ME: I HATE mushrooms I never eat them, but she told me I had to try it.
She was frigg'in right, WOW I could not believe this was mushroom soup.
I absolutely LOVED it. I am looking for the recipe later ( for her to cook).
You must try it. No really YOU MUST TRY IT. I told you something, now try
it or go to your hotel room, no dessert for you.
MUSHROOM CAP "BURGER" ( no actual meat)
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/RaglanRoad-mushroomcapburger.jpg
WIFE: It was OK, nothing special.
ME: Yeah right, I was NOT trying this. Forget-about-it. No WAY. I told you
already I hate mushrooms, I tried the soup thats as far as I'm going. I don't care if you spank me, go ahead. No really go ahead, spank me:flower3:
FISH & CHIPS
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/RaglanRoad-fishchips.jpg
Fried fish= YUM, fresh & flaky, not greasy. very moist.
Chips= AWESOME ( I will call them fries, I am in America so there fries to me)
But I LOVE these fries, so perfectly cooked and seasoned. These are my hands down favorite in ALL of WDW. None better. NO, I said NONE BETTER, got it.
Now don't tell me "this" place is better, NO IT'S NOT.
Now I am not saying it anymore. End of my one sided discussion.
BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/RaglanRoad-breadbutterpudding.jpg
Now last year this dessert was my hands down favorite of the whole trip.
This year, not the same. I don't know if I just got a bum batch but it just wasn't as WOW-afull as last time. It was still OK, just a let down. Sorry.
Wait, what the hell am I apologizing, nope I take the sorry back you can't have it.
CHOCOLATE TRIO
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/RaglanRoad-choctrio.jpg
White & dark chocolate mouse, and chocolate mini shake.
Now here is where the trouble really happened..... This by the way was our first night dinner. Anyway on to the story. I was eating my share of the dessert after my wife had taken her half already. So I tried the white chocolate mouse first. I LOVED this. It was SO frigg'in good. I was near the bottom of the glass and really scooping the little remains and then I heard and felt a crunch. What the heck. I chomped again, it was something on my back molar. I picked it off and I was a piece of glass. So now I'm a little freaked out. I'm gurgling water and trying to get all the ground glass out of my mouth and spitting it into the soda glass when the waiter comes over.
"Is everything thing OK". Not really I just got this piece of glass out of my mouth. OH my god, he freaks and grabs more water. Now I figured my mouth is not bleeding and I didn't swallow any, so I am calm. The manager came over, apologizing like crazy, and took care of the whole check, which was nice of him. Next out came the chef. he was so sorry it happened. He asked
if there was anything I wanted, I told him more of that awesome white chocolate mouse. He said it was all they had left and had to toss it now. So I said I didn't get to try the chocolate shake since the waiter pulled the whole plate. He came out with a full size shake which was great and had NO glass in it. So I still like it here and the manager handled it well. Now we were "stuck" trying to fit in 2 credits we now had extra, so we ending up using them at beaches & cream ( see above review).
MORE REVIEWS TOMORROW, Now go to bed. Go on. Did you brush your teeth, comb your hair, get a shower, feed the chickens, paint the house, re-shingle the roof, mow the lawn, re-pipe the bathroom,do your homework? NO ! well you better get it all done before bed or no more reviews for you until it's ALL done.

I still have California Grill & Chefs De France to post, but that will be tomorrow.
Always sunny in Philadelphia is on at 10pm and I HAVE to watch it,So hang on, I will be back in "two shakes of a lambs tail" ( I don't even know what the hell's that supposed to mean, why a lambs tail? What is so fast about the tail of a lamb. Maybe I'll be back in "two flutters of a hummingbirds wing". Now that would be more logical. Thats it, I'm starting a new catch phrase.) DRINKS
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BrownDerby-oreoshakepinacolada.jpg
Oreo shake on the left, virgin pina colada on the obvious side.
The very nice waitress allowed these as or drinks. Both drinks were very good. But really, how the hell could you mess up a shake or colada.
ROLLS & BUTTER
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BrownDerby-rollsbutter.jpg
Didn't care much for these. They seemed very plain and doughy. I expect these would be served to you if you were in a jail cell. Nothing special here....move along, NEXT!
COBB SALAD
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BrownDerby-cobbsalad.jpg
This was a cobb salad for one. We asked if they could do it and the waitress she had to find out, she said since they were not busy they would do it, but normally they don't. Why the hell would it matter if they are busy or not. They still have to throw a salad together, just put in a little less OH WISE CHEF OF THE SALAD WORLD. It's a bit odd of a comment but anyway the salad had the meats on the side for my wife. We both thought it was just OK, sure as hell nothing special and certainly not something the derby should be all high and mighty over. It's L E T T U C E, and some fixings, Jeez. I wouldn't boast about it like the do. Look at me I invented cheese on bread and then toast it, I am a food genius. If your expecting something so awesome just forget about it. I hope I helped someone out there.
POTATO CRUSTED CRAB CAKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BrownDerby-crabcake.jpg
I GOT CRABS....... no, not that kind.Sicko. Where is your mind at? Yes I know another crab cake, BUT this one was crusted with potato slivers. Thats right the best vegetable in the world. MMMM very tasty, this was a close second to flying fish's crab cake. Very nice crispy texture on the outside and a great crab filling. I really liked this, and I would know I think almost all my appetizers were crab cakes. If you like crab cakes, you'll like this, or you won't, just covering my butt.
NOODLE BOWL WITH COCONUT FRIED TOFU
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BrownDerby-noodlebowlcoconutfriedto.jpg
WIFE:The fried coconut was awesome. The noodles were just OK.
It was presented beautifully.
ME: I tasted the coconut tofu and thought it tasted pretty good. Now this is not a piece of delicious cow but not to bad. I certainly wouldn't give up
meat for this.
NY STRIP AND POTATOES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BrownDerby-filetpotatoes.jpg
MMMMM more meat. I liked the steak but it was just OK, I have to note though I am not a fan of the NY strip cut, I always get filet if the choice is available. It was still tasty, when isn't grilled "Besty" though. The potatoes were good. But thats hard to screw up.
GRAPEFRUIT CAKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BrownDerby-grapefruitcake.jpg
WIFE: It was vile and I like grapefruits.
ME: Well, where to begin....The "Brown Derby Original" HA thats a funny one.
On what planet is grapefruit, a bitter fruit, thought to be turned into a CAKE!
On the planet "I'm a loony chef on PSP and crack" thats what planet. I really would not be so "proud" of this poor achievement they call "cake". I think a paper plate with frosting on it would be more of a tasty dessert. I know so many on these boards rave about this "thing" and thats why we tried it. Well I just decided to NEVER listen to ANYONE who says they love this monstrosity of a "cake". You are officially off my list. I really don't know what was worse the awful taste of the frosting or cake. It really doesn't matter nothing could save this hunk of garbage. I think a bum would pass on this one. Thats all I have to say about this.
BANANA WHITE CHOCOLATE TOFFEE TOWER
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/BrownDerby-bananawhitechcotoffeetow.jpg
Now this is more like it. Nice and sweet, like a real dessert should be. Lots of different flavors and textures in here. my only comlaint would be that the consistency would have been a little firmer. I thought that it was a little to soft. It was good especially the coco almond cookie,YUM-FRIGGIN-E
I liked it here. I would never pay out of pocket for this place, and don't really think it's worth the 2 credits but I am glad I finally tried it after many, many years of walking by and never even looking inside. The waitress was very good by the way.
OK thats it for tonight, now don't cry I will be back tomorrow for the final 2 reviews. Now I want everyone to read it and get to bed. Your up way to late on a school night. And I told you yesterday to feed those darn chickens.

Another great review as always! :thumbsup2
I always wanted to try BD, but find it hard to use 2 TS credits when there seems to be so many other places we like so much already. Maybe one day...or not. I just can't seem to get excited about this place, well actually, I don't get excited about any place at DHS.:sad1:

As much as I love wordy food reviews, I must say that your concise descriptions are pretty awesome and you have made me laugh out loud more than once. We are booked at several of these locales so it's great to see them reviewed.
Thanks for the great info and excellent photos. I'm looking forward to more!

I thank you for the nice words. I also would like to thank everyones else's nice comments. I would like to thank the academy for making this award possible....wait as sec, wrong speech. I am glad to see people are enjoying the reviews, I really only tell it like it is. I am one not to ride the same boat as most others, as my reviews are very honest and harsh at times. The comments are the only reason I bother doing this as it takes a ton of time to do, plus I like to take pictures of food for some strange reason. I do it often when I am not at Disney at restaurant I eat at near me. Go figure. I am going to be finishing the last 2 reviews tomorrow so hopefully everyone could wait until then, if not too bad. You don't really have a choice anyway, do you.

Everyone don't forget to tune in later tonight for the final 2 reviews. I want everyone here. No goofing around. You over there on the left, stop stealing your sister's food, got it. Bring all your friends and gather around it's going to be a doozy. See you all later, well not really "see", that would be kind of creepy. I will chat with you all later, that makes more sense. Good day to you. And you, and you too, and you over in the corner sucking on your thumb, aren't you a little old to be sucking on your thumb still, you have a beard. Stop that.. Whats wrong with you?
There will be some more of these delicious fellows...

Alright already, stop your moaning and groaning here is the next one.
BREAD & BUTTER
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/ChefsDeFrance-rollbutter.jpg
This looks much better than it tasted. It was nothing special. It should have been a little warmer and the inside seemed a tad bit on the stale side (even though it was just baked). It's only a friggin roll, so no hard feelings frenchy. Still love ya anyway.
MUSHROOM FLAT BREAD
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/ChefsDeFrance-mushroomflatbread.jpg
WIFE: Very tasty but very filling.
ME: Look I told you all before I HATE SHROOMS, so no I didn't even lick it.
( OK I did try the mushroom soup at Raglan, but that was it) So no further comments with out my lawyer present. Whats that.... I was told he was indited on selling shrooms, oh well looks like I need a new lawyer, anyone?
FRENCH (thats obvious) ONION SOUP
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/ChefsDeFrance-onionsoup.jpg
Thank you France, for making the best soup EVER. I mean cheese, and lots of it. Beef broth, so perfectly seasoned. Soggy croûtons, and perfectly tender sweet onions. I am so happy you were able to pull this off so well. I mean if you hadn't you might have well just packed your bags and headed back to the real France. Now I am not sure this soup even originated in France, but I really don't give two frogs legs if it did or not. It's just a bowl of explosive GIGGITY GIGGITY GOODNESS . I think I am done now.....
MAC & CHEESE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/ChefsDeFrance-macNcheese.jpg
WIFE: Awesome, best mac & cheese I ever had.
ME: Now this is NOT your crappy run of the mill boxed mac & cheese. This
is really good. A great blend of cheeses perched on a larger than I am used to, tender noodles. I would have liked a smaller pasta but it's not my entrée, I just think the cheese coverage would have been better spread out thats all. But still and damn good cheesy mac and I highly recommend it.
CHEESEBURGER & POMMES FRITES (friggin fries)
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/ChefsDeFrance-cheeseburgerfries.jpg
I LOVE burgers, as some of you might have grasped. I had to try one here. I wasn't pleased with my dinner here last year (see last years reviews at the 1st post) , so I figured this might be a winner. I mean the way it's listed on the menu, all fancy like. Hey chez, it's just a flipping burger. But wait, it was a really good burger. Jason ( thats me) was very surprised. I didn't see this one coming. The onions and whatever the hell else that was on it just fit. I really like it a lot. The dipping sauce for the fries was exceptionally good as well. I don't even know what it was but the two flavors together made a happy explosion in my mouth. KAPOWIE (thats the flavor explosion) So if your here for lunch get this, even if you don't eat meat.
I DARE YOU. Remember if cows were not meant to be eaten, they wouldn't have been so damn tasty.
CHOCOLATE PROFITEROLES
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/ChefsDeFrance-chocprofiterolles.jpg
Now this had the making for a good dessert.I really wanted it to be good. But I guess something else happened. I thought the pastry was very stale tasting. The ice cream and chocolate sauce were fine, but that wasn't the dessert ordered. So I would demand for you to skip this one, unless you like to be disappointed, then by all means order it friend-O.
CHOCOLATE CAKEY SOMETHING OR OTHER
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/ChefsDeFrance-chotart.jpg
I liked this one very much. It was a surprise in a good way. Not the kind of surprise, like you came home from work early and find your spouse giving "CPR" ( and by CPR I mean the old squeaky squeaky) to a stranger. It was very light and creamy. I really liked the fruit compote on the side.
So one out of two desserts being a winner is not that bad, kinda shooting 50%.
The waitress here was VERY good as well. Super friendly and nice. I guess they all really don't hate Americans after all, unless it was all a good act for the tip. Either way She was a good server.
So in hind sight I would go here again but only for lunch.
I have one more review coming later, so enjoy this one now cowpokes and I will see ya'll later.
Remember leave a comment, if you like.Or else.

I've really enjoyed following your thread - it's been loads of fun.
One thing that struck me about your bread pudding from Raglan Road ... it seemed like the pitchers of sauce were really tiny. How can anyone be expected to eat their bread pudding with such stingy sauce servings?
And let's not even talk about the glass ... :scared1: :scared1:

YUM, HOLY SHIP, This was the best crab cake I ever had.
Perfect crispy breading, nice crab chunks inside, great sauce.
Just perfect. If you love crab get this, OR ELSE!;)

I thank you. I agree about the mini size pitchers of liquid heaven, but the bread pudding was not on par with last years, so it didn't matter much. Plus the whole glass fiasco happen prior to eating any of it. Shrooms really do freak me out ( olives as well) I don't get it?
Don't give up on this thread yet. I have the final post from Cali.grill tomorrow.
If anyone has ANY questions please ask, as I do check my thread often.

At home I usually don't take pictures, or end up writing reviews on her cooking. BUT sometimes she makes something fancy or really amazing looking then I will shot a picture of it.
I do have a food blog that I write about local restaurants. I started it a while ago and have only a few entries but after this review is done I think I will start back and and the MANY more pictures I have taken and the reviews as well.
If anyone is interested in the blog link let me know. I am not sure I can post it here?
Thanks for reading, I am going out to a food festival today, so maybe I will shoot some of the foods. I will be posting Cali grill later today so don't worry.

They were nice and neatly printed? I like the paper, it felt nice in my hands. I guess I have hit bottom when I am commenting on the menu.
BREAD
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/CaliforniaGrill-bread.jpg
Again, I expected something a little bit better in my bread basket, but nothing special. It was just OK. These 2 credit signature restaurants need to up the plain bread selection. It's a good thing I didn't go here for the bread or I'd be sadly disappointed.
PINA COLADA & STRAWBERRY DAQ.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/CaliforniaGrill-pinacoladastrawdaq.jpg
We asked if we could get anything besides a soda, and the waiter told use a smoothie is fine, so guess what. Come on, guess. No really GUESS. Thats right we opted for the smoothies, how did you know? Oh yea the pictures above. I forgot. They were very good and fresh tasting. I would opt for these if you want to, if not don't it doesn't really matter to me since I am not going to be bumming a sip from you anyway. SO you pick I am not talking about this anymore. FINE.
TRIPLE CHEESE TOMATO FLATBREAD
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/CaliforniaGrill-3cheeseflatbread.jpg
WIFE: It was excellent. Very tasty. Good vegetarian choice.
ME: My mouth was very happy with this. My wife "let" me eat a good bit of it.
I thought the cheese blend and the tomatoes were very fresh, the crust was cooked perfectly. So perfectly seasoned.
CRAB CAKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/CaliforniaGrill-crabcake.jpg
Surprise! Another crab cake. I really can not figure out why on earth I had so many this week. I like crab cakes but it's not like I ever really eat crab at home. Actually I am not even a fan of crab legs. To much work for so little payoff. I did think this tasted wonderful. Not a over powering crab taste but a nice compliment of sauce and accrutraments. I did think the waiter here was a bit of a "crab" himself, he just wasn't very friendly. Oh well.
WILD MUSHROOM LASAGNA
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/CaliforniaGrill-mushroomlasagna.jpg
WIFE: The most vile piece of garbage I have ever tasted. I really don't know how this was called "lasagna" because lasagna is supposed to have pasta and cheese layered in a red sauce. Not some pastry shell not even resembling any lasagna I had ever seen. BEWARE DO NOT ORDER.
ME: You know I didn't even look at it. You heard the lady, move along. Nothing else to see here.
OAK-FIRED FILET
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/CaliforniaGrill-filetmashpotasparag.jpg
Now you all know buy know how I love the cow. Me and the cow go WAY back. We get along. It moo's,I eat it. It goes well in a burger or steak or meatloaf or chili or cheesesteak or pretty much anything (not desserts) So why on the planet Disney can't a signature restaurant and all the good reviews I had read on these boards get a simple piece of meat right? I WANT TO KNOW. It was ordered med. it was brought to me med-well. even at med-well a filet should NOT be tough and dried on the inside. I couldn't have been more disappointed, unless they set me house on fire, then I guess I could. I guess if I really want good meats I will stick to Fogo De Chao. The green beans were nice though, potatoes seemed as if there were sitting in a pot waiting to be slopped out, not fresh or warm at ALL,very dry. Kind of like school cafeteria potatoes.
CREME BRULE'E
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/CaliforniaGrill-bananacremeburele.jpg
This was not bad, but could have been much better. I would have liked the crust warmer and more crispy. The creme had a descent taste but not a creamy as others. It actually looked like Spackle. Not very visually appealing.
The two pastry's on the side were good though, not sure what they were.
I could have skipped this one.
CHOCOLATE CAKE
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/toyman70/WDW%20FOODS%202008/CaliforniaGrill-choccake.jpg
Don't remember the official name for this but I will call it "friggin good chocolate cake" The ice cream on the side was good as well, home made taste.
I really enjoyed the view. We watched the fireworks from here, but I never cared to see them before. Since we were up there and didn't have to deal with throngs of people leaving the park, we figured on staying.
Note to self : don't bother with fireworks, you seen it once, that enough. BORING... Very nice decor and atmosphere.
So there. That concludes my reviews, please watch your step, grab all your belongings and children and if you left anything behind, to bad. I hope you all enjoyed these reviews, I really hope I helped any indecisive people make up there minds. I would love to answer any questions, just post them here. It could be anything. Let try to keep this post alive a bit so others could benefit from it. And please ladies, I am married so no more sexy proposals. You can look but no touching.
Now I am going to eat something mundane and boring. Eating out for a week in Disney really screws with your reality.

OK; I finally stopped laughing long enough to comment;
1st: OMG, love the reviews!!1
2nd: You have no idea how much I wish I would have read your wife's review of Cali Grille before we ate there last week. I agree, it was the most awful, tasteless tough, packet of cardboard I have ever had the misfortune to order. FWIW, My husband ordered the fish (haddock? can't remember; we accidentally got "forgotten" at the bar for 2 hours, so I was a couple of drinks in by the time we finally ordered-and I don't normally drink, so...) Anyway, the fish was great. I agree though, so far the only 2 TS rest. I really felt was worth it has been Jiko.

Great reviews here...I'm going back to read your previous year's.
And thank heavens for your Cali Grille review...finally someone who agrees with me! We were just there in May 2008 and were also seriously disappointed in the foods we ordered, including that same steak...and tell you what, we like ours rare and they delivered it rare...but it still tasted "meh". Main problem is the seasoning I think...they're overly concerned with coming up with a cutting-edge-trend-setter recipe, and kind of forgot about that other important issue: yeah but does it taste good?:lmao: At least you did get a view...we had a window seat, but they kept the blinds down the whole time we were there (waiter said they'd raise them once the sun went down...so we use 2 credits per person on the Paid-for DDP to dine in a restaurant with a wonderful view...and we don't get to see the view. We won't be going back there...

Thank you. My past years reviews are not as witty (too lazy to get into writing it), but just as honest.
I usually don't see many negative reviews on such coveted places, but as most have read I never pull any punches and tell it like I eat it.
I said it before, a lot of people are blinded by others reviews and go in those restaurant with blinders on. Now I know not all of you, but a lot of you. Thats fine I hope my honest reviews have helped sway any fence sitters.
After all it's only food "opinions", thank you for reading. (where are my fireworks)

Sucks about your salad. I hear SALADWORKS makes a mean cobb salad. All those desserts look so effin good. Wish i was there right now:sad2: I dont know how your wife doesnt eat meat."no meat? you dont eat no meat?ok i make you lamb"(my big fat greek wedding).

One of my FAVORITE lines from that movie. It is just brilliant!
Toyman - Thanks for the all the great reviews. We are trying Cali Grill this time after avoiding it for years. I live in California. I can get California cuisine all over the place here and it is GOOD. I'm still trying to figure out why we booked it for our trip. Your filet review scared me as that is what DH was planning to order.

Thanks for enjoying my food eating memories.... I would avoid the filet.
I do not think in any way it was worth it. I really think sometimes on the reviews here at DIS, that either some people are so happy that they are in Disney, they left the taste buds at home, OR most people don't really eat at "good" restaurants and think that the food they are getting is "great" especially since it's a signature restaurant. That is just "my"opinion and I am not outing anyone. Please use your judgment on the filet there, plus there are WAY more places in the state of Cali. to get a better steak than there.
WOOOSH all that for some friggin meat. I'm done talking about this... for now.
Enjoy!

Toyman70,
I just LOVE your dining review. I liked that you are honest about what you ate while being fair. Congrats to you on a good job!
I have a question for you thats a little Off topic. How much did you get each for the DVC tour? And does this include any kids? I am going in May and thought it would be neat to take a tour. Not sure if I would want to buy but any info you had would be super helpful.

HI,
Thank you, I'm glad you liked the reviews. I am brutally honest all the time.
The DVC tour is just $100 for any amount of you that go. BUT the invite was only in the rooms at the hotels that have DVC villas. There is no high pressure at all. We left with a gift card to spend right away.

[B]Again it was good, nothing special, certainly not worth the $14 drug dealer price. I have no clue to why it would even be priced anywhere near that price. maybe they owe the mob money...[B]
ME: I tasted it, and it was tasty, but I'm not a pasta fan, hence why I love the meat. Remember meat is murder, tasty tasty murder.
[B]HOLY CRAP, was this AWESOME. It's like the magic cookie bar in a warm cake like consistency. Plus it has some sweet fluids on it (?)
Toyman you are hilarious! "Drug dealer prices", "owe the mob money", "tasty, tasty murder", "sweet fluids"????? :rotfl2: I'm dying here!

What a great review, enjoyed every bit of it!!!
Although saying that I must admit you have crushed a few foodie dreams of mine namely the Grapefruit Cake, the Cobb Salad and the California Grill...never mind, you've probably saved me a few TS credits ;)
Given the awful state of most of the veggie dishes you wife consumed at WDW has she in any way reconsidered the whole vegetarian thing?!

Funny thing is she just recently gave up all animal foods a few weeks before this trip. She was eating everything but beef. She still loved it though.
I am glad I help you avoid those foods, you would have probably been
sadly disappointed. At least there still is a lot of other delicious things
to gobble up.
Thanks for enjoying the reviews.! Glad my gluttony entertained everyone:laughing:

Just read your review of Brown Derby again since dh and I are going there soon. We will be paying out of pocket for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. One dumb question - wondering how to get them to allow a shake and Virgin Pina Colada for the drinks? Is it up to the waitress? We asked for that once at Coral Reef and they said oh no it wasn't allowed.

At every place we ate I ALWAYS asked if we could get anything other than soda. Most places allowed it. So it never hurts to ask, unless it's something that will get you slapped or kicked in the treasure chest. In that case your on
your own...don't say I didn't warn you. Good luck with your beverages.
