SEPTEMBER 17th/ Day 1

Well to start off I’d like to mention that I had a horrible nights sleep last night. My mind was racing with thoughts of my upcoming trip, and I think I finally passed out around 1:30 am or so. :faint: Normally this wouldn’t be a problem except my alarm went off at:

After showering, getting ready, and packing up the car, I woke up Sleeping beauty! princess:

I was SOOOO HAPPY to finally be going. I needed to document my perma grin I had all morning. :hyper:

We had the car packed up

And were on the Road by

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip038.jpg

:car: After an hour of driving we pulled over in Greeley Colorado to fuel up and fill our belly’s with some greasy, fattening, burger king! ~~ For those of you who know me, you know that I haven’t eaten fast food in a very, very long time. But I knew ahead of time that it would be a factor in our trip, because it’s cheap and fast. I felt so horrible after eating it. I skipped the tater tots and picked off most of the bread on my breakfast sandwich and washed it down with bottled water. Ever since I’ve lost all that weight I definitely notice that my stomach has shrunk because it doesn’t take much to fill me up. I’m so nervous that I’m going to gain a bunch of weight on this trip. :scared1: I don’t want to pig out and eat really bad food, but I want to eat what I want to eat. So I guess I just need to concentrate on my portion sizes?!? :confused3

Deanna, you are off to a great start!! I hate waking up early. I can never sleep when I know I have to wake up early.

Your car looks almost as packed as ours usually does. :rotfl:

I know you've been doing fantastic on your diet. I've lost some too, not as much as you, and I also noticed it takes less to fill me up now. DH and I went out to lunch the other day and I barely touched my fries and only ate half my sandwich. That used to be unheard of for me!! LOL

I also started thinking about how I'm going to eat while at Disney and just decided I will order what ever I want but share it with the family if it's a snack food, or with DH if it's an entree. That way I can still have a taste of everything, without overeating. So maybe that will work for you as well.

Good luck and can't wait to hear more.

Thank you!

Well my goal for the trip is 1. To drink lots and lots of water 2. Not to snack ((just have breakfast, lunch, and dinner)) 3. Cut my serving size in half 4. Walk, Walk, Walk 5. Don't drink any soda 6. Stop eating when I'm full.

I didn't to nearly enough walking today and I forgot my tennis shoes. Otherwise I would have hit the gym tonight. :sad2:

Our second stop for the day was a lovely REST AREA near Laramie Wyoming. We got out to stretch our legs and explore the little museum and Lincoln memorial they had on site. Somehow me managed to spend a ½ hour there. But I got some really cute pictures of Reya!

Our Third stop was another REST AREA to stretch our legs out. DH and DD played tag and ran around for awhile, while I took a brisk 10 minute walk.

Our fourth and last REST stop for the day was a place called “Little America” .. We refueled the car and checked out the gift shop. Reya fell in love with this cowboy hat she tried on, I didn’t end up buying it for her though because it was a tad too big. Instead we let her fill a little bag up with some gemstones of her choice. It came in a cute velvet drawstring bag, with WYOMING printed on the front.

I couldn't figure out why Laramie sounded so familiar so I had to Google it. Then I remembered. :sad2: So sad.
But it looks like a nice place you stopped in, and I love the scenery!

Wyoming was soooo boring to drive through. I think the scenery we saw there at the rest stop was the best we encountered. It's georgous here in Park City though. It's been raining and kinda cold so we didn't get to do much exploring. Luckily our room and hotel is really nice we've been having a good time just hanging here.

Road trips are a blast! This is Reya's 5th and she's only 2. I'm not a great flyer so it's a good thing I love road driving.

I would love road trips but my bladder is the size of a pea. I have to stop at least once every 1 and a half to 2 hours. So it makes road trips difficult. We can't take scenic routes because there's nowhere to stop. Some day we want to rent a small RV that has a bathroom. That would be awesome.

Did you have a bad reaction to the greasy food at BK? I havent had any fast food in months, one day I stop by to get McDonalds, and got really sick off the food, wondering if my stomach wouldnt handle the grease. Just a thought. Well you would do great with us on a road trip then. We always stop 1- 1 ½ hours, just because we don’t want poor Reya to have a breakdown. She is such a great traveler. Or hey, you could always buy diapers.

I didn’t’ get sick from the food, I just felt kinda icky. Felt bloated, greasy, and tired after I ate it. I ate some arbys today too and felt the same way. So I’m going to avoid fast food for the rest of the trip if possible. I can’t wait for the disney food though. YAY!!!

A live TR is pretty remarkable. I'm in awe that you find time to update it while traveling.

Random nerd reference from me. Based on observing your signature and the fact that you stayed in Park City, you were not very far away from the place where the author of Twilight went to college. (Okay, so I'm also a BYU alum and it makes me swell to see a fellow Cougar do well).

Deanna, about the food, I know it's hard while traveling. When we went from MI to NV, ugh, I never wanted to see another fast food place again.

But have you ever tried the McDonald's Asian Grilled Chicken salad? It's really good, not very high in calories, and might be a nice choice for you if you guys can find a McDonalds. Just a thought. :) They also have a Southwestern one that's good too.

September 17th- Day 1 continued....

We arrived at the Marriott Mountain Side Resort around 3:30 PM.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip149.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip148.jpg

Check-in was quick and easy, we were given room # 7750

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip160.jpg

Our room was very nice and roomy. It came with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, living room, dinning room, 2 Tvs, dvd player, mud room, glass shower, and a large garden tub in the bedroom.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip150.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip154.jpg

After we checked out our new digs for the night we decided to take a stroll around the resort . Unfortunately the weather was a little less then desirable and we didn’t stay out too long because it started to rain. :umbrella:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip170.jpg

As we were making our way back into the lobby of the hotel, we ran across these large checker/chess boards. Reya was instantly attracted to them and spent a good 30 mins playing around. I took tons and tons of pictures with her lining up all the chess pieces, so I thought I’d just share a FEW. She was not happy when I told her that it was time to go inside because mommy and daddy were cold. :cold:

Since it was too cold outside, we decided to just head back to the room to relax for the rest of the night.

We ordered take out from a local Mexican restaurant called Baja Cantina. The food was DELISH.... I love me some good ol' mexican grub. Mmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmmm

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip267.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip277.jpg

After we ate our dinner we just relaxed and watched some television in our comfy pjs.

Reya finally fell asleep around 11:00pm and I followed soon after. The bed was sooooooo comfortable and I had a wonderful night’s sleep. :cloud9:

Well it hasn’t been easy updating, but it sure is fun…. I think the TR could be a lot more detailed if I waited but I think it’s fun to share everything as I’m living it. Something “DIFFERENT”

It’s funny that you mentioned that about Stephenie Meyer. When I was at our hotel last night I walked into the lobby and she was on an episode of Ellen. I stopped dead in my tracks and had to watch. I knew she was from Utah and went to college there but not sure exactly where. She’s such an amazing person and writer, I was honored to meet her when she visited Denver. I was surprised at how down to earth she was.

I’m happy to have you along for the ride…… stay tuned for more!

I could eat whaterever I wanted and wouldn't have to worry about too many greens. :) Mexican seems to be my biggest pit fall so far. We're having Mexican food tonight, plus we're going to On the Border tomorrow because my step-sister works there. :woohoo:

A live TR is pretty remarkable. I'm in awe that you find time to update it while traveling.

Random nerd reference from me. Based on observing your signature and the fact that you stayed in Park City, you were not very far away from the place where the author of Twilight went to college. (Okay, so I'm also a BYU alum and it makes me swell to see a fellow Cougar do well).

Did you read the books??

Deanna,

I saw that Ellen episode, too! My DMIL recorded it for me... she's a librarian and gets me my fix asap. I'm about to start The Host pretty soon. LOL The interview, however, was a bit Blah for my tastes. I was looking for some better gossip!

THat looks like a REALLY beautiful hotel! Thanks for posting!

Your hotel was really nice! I love it. And I love the scenic shots in the background. I'm sorry you were cold but honestly, it's nice to know somewhere it's actually Fall weather and not still in the mid 90's.

Cute pics of Reya playing chess. ;)

Thanks… The Park City area is really nice, and if the weather had been warmer we would have explored it some more. But I have to admit it was nice just relaxing in our room after a long days drive though.

I’m sooooo addicted. I didn’t get to watch the entire episode, so now I’m glad I didn’t miss much. I’ll have to share the photos we took of Stephenie Meyer when we saw her in Denver.

The hotel was SUPER nice, but nothing compared to the place we stayed at in Orlando last year. I should also post those pictures just for the heck of it.

It is great to follow your TR as you are going along. I joined these boards a while ago and haven't posted much, but I am getting a LOT of ideas for our trip around Christmas/New Year (Christmas in Hawaii, NY in Las Vegas, then on to Californie, including a few days each in LA, San Diego and of course DISNEYLAND!). I definitely love looking at the photos! And I totally agree with everyone else that you have a beautiful family. I can just imagine some of the gorgeous photos you have around the house.

I can understand the trouble you may have with fast food now. I started my healthy lifestyle at the beginning of 2004 (and lost half my body weight), so have been living on fairly basic food since then. I can't remember the last time I had fast food, except a Sub now and then, and I know that the greasy and saucy food upsets my stomach a LOT. I am a little worried about how I will go on the holiday, as I don't want to be quite as strict as I have been over the past 5 years, but I also don't want to make myself sick, or put on too much weight. I am expecting to maybe put on a little, that should hopefully be easy to get off once we return, but with all the walking we plan on doing I don't expect to put on too much. If you get any good ideas along the way (like the McDs salad) please let us know.

I look forward to reading more of your adventures.

**FYI pretty boring day, but I’ll share anyway.

September 18th- Day 2

The alarm didn’t go off this morning, and instead of waking up at 6:30 I woke up at 7:15. I guess it really wasn’t a big deal because I NEEDED the sleep. We were all ready, packed up, and Ready to go at 9:00am.

SALT ANYONE?!?

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip048-1.jpg

Our second stop was a rest area somewhere in Utah. Just got out and did our usual walk around.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip051-1.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip053-1.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip056.jpg

I decided it was time for DH to do some driving since he had yet to do so. I jumped in the back to Reya and watched some monsters inc with her and did a little reading!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip063-1.jpg

The third stop was in Wendover Nevada. ((state line))

We had yet to eat and were starving. There wasn’t much to choose from except McDonalds, Arbys, and Burger King. Ewwwwwwww. I decided on Arbys because I could get a Turkey/Bacon/Swiss wrap. ((Which I usually LOVE)) I should have walked out of the restaurant right away. The staff was unprofessional and slow. And on top of that, the place just seemed dirty. But like I said we were starving, and I didn’t know when we would come across another place to eat that wasn’t a McDonalds, so we just sucked it up and ate. Once we left DH and I made an oath never to eat at another restaurant that was attached to an gas station for the rest of our lives.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip064-1.jpg

Our 4th and last stop was another Rest Stop somewhere in Nevada.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip080.jpg

After we left the last rest stop we were on a mission to get to Sacramento no later then 8:00pm. Nothing interesting happened or was to be seen. Reya slept for 3 hours and I had a huge rock hit my windshield and crack it.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip089.jpg

The rest of the drive was pretty smooth until we hit Lake Tahoe area where we ran into major construction.

We arrived at my Dad’s house at exactly 8:00 pm.

We ordered pizza and just sat around talking and catching up.

((TOLD YA NOTHING EXICTING))

Up next …………… Jelly Belly Factory and Hard Rock Café

Well thank you for stopping by, I'm glad you decided to comment on my post.

Wow, your vacation sounds like so much fun. I LOVE long vacations, except I can't afford them. My wallet always suffers when I get back.

Right before I lost all my weight I bought my pants 3 sizes smaller so that I had motivation to fit into them before I left. I was terrified right before our departure because they barely fit. But somehow they feel looser now, so maybe by some miracle I've lost some weight rather then gained any on this trip so far. :yay:

Yea, I balked at the first book but the next three were GREAT! It's so embarrassing though! The movie... I'm so excited! I'm going to the matinee alone. I don't want anybody there judging me for liking it! :lmao:

Actually, and this is SO sad, I haven't finished the fourth one yet as I don't want it to end. :sad2:

I got The Host (her adult novel) from the libarary and I plan on starting it today as I have to have it back in 2 weeks. If it's any good, that won't be a problem. I read book 2 in a couple days which is unheard of for me as I'm ususally too busy to do something like that. I put everything aside to listen to Bella angst it up over her lost love. :sad1:

Now with book four...everytime I get to a "Happily Ever After" part I stop reading for a few days. :lmao: I'm savoring it.

I bet we stopped at the same rest stop in Utah when we moved from California to Iowa. And we actually stayed the night in Wendover...at a Best Western, I think. You have the most beautiful pics of Reya. She is SO photegenic and you catch her at just the right times.

We'll be away for 30 days altogether, which is the longest holiday like this that I have ever taken. We weren't sure that we could afford it at first, but we have been embarrassed at the amount we could save throughout the year that we were just frittering away before. After losing weight I tended to buy clothes at every opportunity I could get, so that is where a lot of the money was going to. We have been very good this year and hopefully should be able to finish this holiday with nothing owing. I may get a credit card "just in case", but I am hoping not to need it. I have NO idea how much money to allow for 'incidentals' like food and souvenirs. We have flights, accommodation and major events (visit to Polynesian Centre in Hawaii, trip to the Grand Canyon, Disney etc tickets) covered, but I don't want to fall short with other things. I am kinda working on $300 a day for 'extras' and hope that this will be plenty. We will be eating most of our meals at the hotels, because of my sensitive stomach, but want to do a few special meals as well.
Oops... that went on a little huh? Sorry.

I am going to use you as my motivation for thinking positively about not gaining weight on this trip. If you can do such a good job, then there is no reason that I can't try to do well as well.

Sorry to hear about the windshield. It sounds as though you are doing a LOT of driving. We actually don't mind driving, but decided to fly between most of our locations this time, not knowing what the weather would be like in Dec/Jan. We have read on here that many people drive from LA to Las Vegas, and I am wondering whether we should have decided to do that, but the flights are already booked, so I think we'll just leave it at that. The flights may have turned out cheaper than car rental and gas anyway, you never know. We will be driving around LA, Anaheim and San Diego as we figured that the weather conditions would be fine there, and the drives are relatively short.

I am really enjoying reading about your travels. This board is GREAT!

September 19th- Day 3

I woke up around 7:15 am and we were out the door headed to the Jelly Belly Factory by 9:00am. Sadly Dad and Linda couldn’t join us on this day because they both had to work:sad: but at least we would have the evening together.

When we had arrived at Jelly Belly we were thrilled to find that there was barely anyone there. We only had a 15 minute wait for the next tour to begin. Before the start of the tour they give you these funny and extremley unflattering paper hat’s to wear. DH’s barely fit and really didn't need to wear it due to the fact that he had shaved his head that morning, but he was a good sport about it and wore it anyway. :rotfl2: And of course it was a battle to get Reya to keep hers on. :sad2:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip055.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip041.jpg

Unfortunately, I thought the tour was extremely boring as did poor Reya. :sad1: She started to have a melt down towards the end and the only way I could get her to shut-up was to bribe her with jelly beans. :lmao:

After the FREE tour they give you a bunch of free Jelly Bellys. They also have a really great gift shop where you can fill up a bag with all of your favorite flavors for a pretty reasonable price. We really wanted to buy the Harry Potter gift box but they didn’t have any. :confused3 Not exactly sure why we wanted them because the flavors sound extremely disgusting. Some of them include.... Spinach, Earwax, Dirt, and boogers. :rotfl:

They also have a great looking Chocolate Shoppe. Regretfully I didn’t get anything. ((Really trying to be good)) But the Chocolate Witches, pumpkins, and Mint Bark looked ohhhh so good.

We had decided on Hard Rock Café in Downtown Sacramento for lunch. My Dad called and said he would meet us there for lunch!! We ordered the exact same thing we always do........ The Appetizer sampler. It's the perfect size to share and it always hits the spot. It includes: Spring rolls, Hot Wings, Onion Rings, Chicken fingers, and Potato Skins. Mmmmmmmmmmm

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip078.jpg

After lunch we went shopping at the mall connected to the restaurant and walked down to the river to take a gander. Unfortunately my camera’s battery died and I didn’t get any more photos for the day. :headache:

We decided that we were pretty beat and still exhausted from the last two days of driving, so we thought it would be best just to head back home to relax and hang out to enjoy each others company. :grouphug: Linda’s DD Chelsea came over to visit and we had takeout from a local Mexican Restaurant. Everyone went to sleep pretty early except Chelsea, Dad, and I we decided to stay up and watch the original 1960 version of 13 ghosts. LOL!!! It was so freaking hilarious. I Love, Love, Love watching all those classic black and white movies.

It was a pretty great day. I really enjoy just relaxing and spending some alone time with my family, it's nice to not always be in a rush..... Especially since Disney is coming up and we're always on the go, go, go....

I can't wait though!!!:woohoo:

Nobody will judge you for seeing it. There are soooo many of us "adults" that read and love books. They actually have a website called twilightmoms.com :thumbsup2 All of my friends and sister-in-laws are going to go see the movie together when it comes out. We're going to make it a girls-night-out.

I haven't finished reading the last book either. I'm trying to savour it because I don't want it to end. I think I'm on page 317 or something. I've been reading it a little since being on vacation.

The HOST is amazing. It was hard to understand in the beginning but it all pulls together pretty quickly. Let me know what you think of it when you're done.

Oh man, that stinks that you got your windshield cracked!! Is it small enough that you can just get it filled?

Well we went rounds with our insurance company when we got to Sacramento. We were almost positive that it couldn't be repaired and that we would have to pay our large deductible to have it replaced. But...... luckily someone came over the day before last and repaired it with no problem. :yay:

Thanks....... It's really quite difficult to get a good picture of Reya. She never looks at the camera and usually each picture I get of her is just by chance. :rotfl2:

I bet we stopped at the same rest stop in Utah when we moved from California to Iowa. And we actually stayed the night in Wendover...at a Best Western, I think. I really love that photo too of DH and DD!!! They're best buddies and so cute together.

I'm really excited to get to the Disney Portion of our trip. Thanks for being patient. I just arrived in Anaheim today. :)

Def. get the Twilight books, you won't be disapointed. They're very popular and I haven't met ONE person who hasn't like them. The first book is Twilight, Second is New Moon, Third is Eclipse, and 4th is Breaking Dawn.

Holy Cow.... 30 days!! How FUN!! I went on a 30 day honeymoon, it was so great.

$300.00 a day will be more then enough for spending money. We only set aside $160.00 and usually don't even spend that.

Today we took Highway 1 (coastal highway) from Monterey through Big Sir.... Was sooooo beautiful. If you get a rental car I recommend driving it.

I'm glad your liking my report. It's nice to hear. :)

Always like reading about road trips. Yours sounds fun. Ours are not so much. DH drives to were we need to go and thats it. (He is a truck driver so I think that is a big part of it). We just got back from WDW. We were able to stay away from fast food. Like you we don't do fast food very often. I had bags full of food so only had to make one stop a day for food. But my kids are teens and are use to only one big meal a day and then snacks the rest. Safe driving today and can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.

Hi, great update!

The Jelly Belly store is so cute. I love it. Sorry the tour wasn't as entertaining as you'd hoped. I am drooling over all those cute chocolate Halloween pumpkins and witches. Also the appetizers from Hard Rock. I love appetizers. Yummmm.

I'm glad your windshield was able to be fixed. Can't wait to hear more. :surfweb:I thought of you when I saw those chocolate witches and pumpkins. They really have a bunch of great halloween stuff out here.. I'll take lots of pictures for you.

Safe driving today and can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.Thank you!! It's getting hard to stay away from the fast food now, it's just so simple, fast, and cheap... Unfortunately it's gross and horrible on my arteries. LOL! I wish we had a microwave here in the room, it would make the effort so much easier. When we were in Orlando last year our room had a full kitchen so it was simple to get anything and everything we needed for most of our meals.

Thanks for reading darling.... Stick around for more!

It's strangely exciting to see someone else's trip report from Sacramento...:confused3

I'm beginning to think I'm the only person that has never done the Jelly Belly tour, somehow I missed out on that field trip in school, and now that I see those hats, I don't think I mind. :rotfl:

It looks like you all are having a great time so far!

I've been to that Hard Rock! I feel the need to apologize for that mall though, unless they've done some major renovation in the past year...which I doubt they have!

I'm happy you were able to get your windshield fixed! :goodvibes

Can't wait to read about the next part of your trip!!!

In my honest opionion I don't think you're missing much by not seeing the tour. But it was a nice way to spend an hour or so, plus it was free.

That Hard Rock was really small, but really nice. And the mall wasn't so bad. I've been to worse. ;) I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Old Town Sacramento though. Everytime I visit my DAD I have to take a stroll down there. Last time we went was during the Jazz festival and it was a blast! Unfortuately I didn't get any photos from Old Town because my battery died.:sad2:

I've done the L.A. to Santa Barbara drive (and even on to Solvang) for years. I leave early on a weekend morning, so it's about as non-horrific as driving in So. Ca. can be. However, driving back down in the evening, especially on Sunday, is similar to what you faced, but you get used to it.

Did you do all of your posting from hotel rooms or did you have internet access elsewhere?

Oh my goodness, that would drive me crazy! It was terrifying especially at night. I couldn't understand why so many people were out and about on the roads at 8:00pm. :confused3

I've been using the wireless internet access at my hotels. The place I'm staying at right now charges $9.95 a day so I've only purchased 2 days worth. Hopefully my next stop has free wireless access.

September 20th

We were going to Fairytale Town and Funderland this day and really wanted to get out early and enjoy our day, but unfortunately we had to wait for someone to come to my dad’s house and repair my windshield first. We were told someone would arrive between 9:00am-Noon.:sad2:

Once it was fixed we were out the door around 12:30 and headed towards Fairytale Town!!:yay:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip059.jpg

Fairytale Town is an outdoor nursery rhyme themed play area for small children. Reya enjoyed sliding down many slides, petting farm animals, checking out a princess castle princess: , pirate shippirate: , pumpkin coach, and meeting new friends:hug:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip052.jpg

DD and DH went sliding down the Old Ladies Shoe, poor DH almost got stuck coming down.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip061-1.jpg

Next we checked out the castle where my Dad and DD sat on their Royal Throne!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip069.jpg

After pretending to be a princess princess: it was time for some pirate playtime fun!pirate:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip075-1.jpg

Everything in Fairytale Town is sized for small children including the snack bar and bathrooms. I thought the outside of the restroom was so cute, I had to take a picture. Looks like a gingerbread house.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip082-1.jpg

After a small snack we went to visit Peter Rabbit, and then my Dad and DD went to play on the Choo-Choo Train. My father used to be a Railroad Engineer for Burlington Northern, ((as did his father before him)) so he loves anything that has to do with trains. He got to share that love with Reya a couple of times on this specific day and it was so much fun to see.:cloud9:

I just read through the whole thing! Your DD is adorable. I love that first pic of her asleep with her arms above her head, LOL. :lovestruc

There were so many things I wanted to comment on, but of course now can't remember. But it sounds like you had a fantastic trip. I'm impressed that you did a 'live' TR! I tried something similar on our first trip, in that my intent was to journal on the computer every night the events from that day. But we were so tired at the end of the long days in the parks that I think I journaled the first few days, and the last day, and had to fill in the blanks once we got home. :rotfl:

Oh, and I also was wondering where Fairytale Land is. It reminds me so much of a place in Oakland we used to go to called Fairyland. It was near Lake Merritt.

Travelmel, I grew up not far from Enchanted Village, but it opened when I was in HS so I never went. I can't believe I've never taken my kids there! (They are 8 and 4yo, and we live about an hour away now.) Will have to put that on the To Do list...

I do have to admit however that it doesn't look likes it's been updated much or at all since you went in the 70's. It was a nice way to ease her into the craziness of Disneyland.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip091-1.jpg

Then it was onto the Sherwood Forest area where Dad and DD played around on the playground for a little while pretending to be Robin Hood.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip103-2.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip117.jpg

Reya met a new friend named Breya . Her and her grandma played around on the tetter totter with my Dad and DD for a little while. It was so cute to watch.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip113.jpg

My poor DAD was being such a good sport playing and running around with DD. He was sweating like a pig, trying to keep up with her while the rest of us just laid back in the shade watching them. :rolleyes1

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip104.jpg

:scared1: After we had a close call with a very BAD cow we headed onto our last slide of the day. This was the best one in my opinion, it was themed as a tree house belonging to Owl from Winnie the Pooh.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip129-1.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip131-1.jpg

After we were through visiting Owls house, we headed over to the crooked mile to take a quick stroll.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip137.jpg

Once we were done with that, Chelsea ((Linda’s daughter)) showed up to visit for a few minutes before she had to rush off to work. Reya wanted to take her for another walk down the crooked mile, so they did just that.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip139.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip143.jpg

Next we made a quick visit to the Mother Goose statue to get a picture of Chelsea and Reya together

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip145.jpg

Our last stop was a visit to see a couple of sheep before saying goodbye to Fairytale Town. One in particular really didn’t like my Dad. He keep following him around giving him the stink eye, and every time my dad would try to pet him he would attempt ram him.:rotfl2:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip158.jpg

Reya was pooped when we were leaving, but we had one more stop on the agenda before going to dinner.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip153.jpg

We made our way over to Funderland which was located right next door to Fairytale Town. Chelsea needed to leave us to go to work, but we would be seeing her in a couple of hours to have dinner at the restaurant that she works at.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip162.jpg

Funderland is a fun and VERY small amusement park for young children. Each ride requires 1 ticket per person, per ride which had cost about $1.75 each. ((If I remember correctly)) We bought a book of 10 so each of us could ride 1 ride each with Reya.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip221.jpg

My Dad and Reya went to ride the train first. It only takes a lap around the park, but Reya absolutely loved her first train ride.:yay:

Next my Dad wanted to take DD on the log ride. They waited in line for what seemed like forever! This was due to the fact that they only had 3 boats running at a time and only allowed 2 persons per boat. My Dad thought it was pretty lame but Reya loved it :lovestruc and that’s all that matters.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip181.jpg

DD and DH headed towards the Backroad Buggies next!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip218.jpg

Reya absolutely loved her little car! :car: She’s obsessed with anything that has to do with cars these days. I guess that’s part of her Tom Boy side coming out. They sped around the back roads of the park and were back within a few minutes. ((Reya's a crazy driver just like her mama)) :lmao:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip185.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip189-1.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip187.jpg

By this time Reya was getting cranky:furious: she was tired and hungry so we needed to get rid of our tickets fast. Linda and I decided to take her on the carousel together so we could use up 3 tickets at once and that way we all would have had our turn riding something with DD. For some reason she is terrified of carousel's?!?! ((we discovered on this trip)) Unfortunately or fortunately for Reya the ride broke down soon after it started so we got off and were given our tickets back.

So now we had 5 tickets left and a VERY crabby baby. Dad, Linda, Reya, and I decided to ride the train again so we could use all but one ticket up.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip207.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip211.jpg

We decided it was time to leave and we stopped to give the remaining ticket to a lady sitting down eating with her family. She didn’t look like she was thankful at all.. Actually she acted as if we interupted and annoyed her. I know it wasn’t that big of a deal, it was only 1 ticket but still some kind of gratitude would have been nice. I wanted to take it back from her and give it to a little kid standing in line because I know it would have been appreciated so much more.

We bid farewell to Funderland!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip220.jpg

It was time to grab a bite for dinner so we headed over to ON THE BORDER. I haven’t eaten there for 14 years, and the only reason I remember that was because I went there for my Jr. Homecoming with all of my friends. I thought it was disgusting and NEVER had the desire to go back. The only reason we went this time was because Chelsea works there and we wanted her to be our waitress.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip226.jpg

She came over to our table and made us some guacamole, and I ordered the cheese enchiladas and chicken taco! I have to admit it wasn’t nearly as horrible as I remembered. Still not the best meal I ever had, but the waitress was. :rolleyes1

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip228.jpg

After dinner we went back to my dad’s where we all did laundry, packed, relaxed, and got ourselves ready for our adventures in Disneyland!

Up next …… Our beautiful drive down to Anaheim

Reya is REALLY eating up the park atmosphere, no??? She looks like she's THINKING... like she's really there in the moment. Too cute!

EDIT: P.S. I couldn't stand On (or off) the Border when we went there last year. Blech.

Looks like fun day! (Except for the rude lady - what was her deal! Heck even if she didn't want the ticket she could have smiled and said thank you!)

September 21st

So my DAD had been trying for days to convince me to take the scenic route down to Anaheim. :drive: I however didn’t really want to take an extra 6-7 hours to get there, but DH and I decided at the last minute that it wouldn’t be so bad since we weren’t in any real big hurry. My Dad and Linda’s flight was set to depart at 9:30am, so all five of us were out the door by 8:00 am.

Our first stop for the day was in Monterey. We decided to take a quick stroll down fisherman’s warf to stretch out our legs and get some fresh air.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Fishermans20Wharf20651.jpg

For the next 5 hours all we did was drive and pull over at most of the scenic vista’s to sit and enjoy the view. It was so unbelievably beautiful and awe-inspiring!! :cloud9: I’m so happy we decided to take the extra time to admire the beautiful scenery.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip014-2.jpg

The drive was a little terrifying do to the sharp hairpin curves and idiotic drivers who wanted to go ten times over the speed limit. It was extremeley annoying that people were in such a hurry that I was constantly pulling over on the side of the road to let people pass.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip034-1.jpg

Once we arrived in Santa Barbara area the sun started to set and the traffic became insane. I drove white-knuckled the entire 2 hours to Anaheim. Why in the world are there so many cars on the road at that time of night on a Sunday?!?!? C.R.A.Z.Y !!!!!

After a VERY nerve racking drive we arrived at the Sheraton Garden Grove around 9:00pm.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/she1552ex65656_md1.jpg

The hotel is brand-new so it was no surprise that the room was very nice, comfortable, and modern.

DH and DD fell asleep shortly after getting into bed. I however stayed up pretty late playing on the computer and watching TV which was pretty much a nightly ritual.

Up next …….. WB studios/Build-a-Bear/Rainforest Café

September 22nd

We checked out of our hotel around 9:00 am and met up with my Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law, Niece, and Nephew for breakfast at Coca’s.

After a very yummy breakfast which consisted of eggs, country fried steak, pancakes, fruit, and potatoes, we walked over to the Anabella to see if we could check in early.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip026.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip024.jpg

Unfortunately our room had yet to be cleaned so we needed to come back later. Everyone else we were traveling with already had their rooms because they checked in a night early. Since we had some time to spare we checked out the grounds of the Anabella.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip028-1.jpg

I was extremely pleased with our decision to stay here. The grounds were beautiful, the staff friendly, rooms were comfortable, clean, and quite, plus it was an easy walk to Disneyland.

After walking around a bit, I went to the business center to order tickets for our WB studio tour. The next available time was for 1:20 PM. After purchasing our tickets I passed DD off to my DAD so DH and I could drive down to Burbank for our scheduled tour. The drive was scary as usual, but I was happy that it wasn’t rush hour. We decided to take a quick drive through Hollywood and catch a glimpse of the Chinese Theatre and Walk of Fame.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip026.jpg

We really liked the Anabella. My entire extended family stayed there when they were in town for our wedding. It was a lot of fun. I even got my hair done at their salon the day of the wedding. Everyone was really nice. (Although my family got in trouble by hotel security for drinking alcohol in a patio area outside their rooms. Apparently you can't drink outside or something in California?)

I'm curious what you thought about the walk of fame area in hollywood. I only went there once a few years ago. It wasn't what I had expected.

I know, isn't the photo adorable?! Looking at that photo really makes me realize how badly my DD needs a brother or sister. ;)

It was a VERY nice hotel! I loved it! we had a wonderful private little patio area too that I fell in love with. My sister-in-law and I wanted so badly to stop at the salon to get a pedicure and foot massage one day, but it never happened.

We didn't get a chance to see the walk of fame area. We drove by but that was it. :sad2: I'm not to disappointed though, it seemed really dirty and chaotic. And the area seemed much smaller then I had imagined.

We arrived at the Warner Brothers Studios 45mins early. :woohoo:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip046-1.jpg

The waiting area consisted of a nicely stocked gift shop, star bucks, and an snack bar. We picked up our tickets and browsed around to kill time.

At 1:15 they called our group and we were escorted into a small theatre where they showed us a 10 minute movie on the history of Warner Brothers. After the movie was over we were introduced to our tour guide and on our way!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip067-1.jpg

Our first stop was down a street where many movies and T.V. shows have been filmed. :happytv: Some of which include Friends, Cloverfield, Spiderman, Somethings gotta give, and Don’t mess with the Zohan.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip073-2.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip070.jpg

We hopped back into the cart and were taken around more famous exterior sets. After 10 minutes or so we were let off again and were able to see the famous ER entrance and ambulance bay. I used to be a huge fan of this show so it was very interesting to be standing there.

For those Ghost Whisperer fans, this is the outside of Melinda’s shop

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip094-2.jpg

We were then taken to a street lined with a bunch of houses. This particular one was the Seaver’s house in Growing Pains

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip102.jpg

And this one was used in the PROM VIDEO episode of Friends! :rotfl2: One of my all time favorite episodes.

Next we were taken to the Props department to look around. It’s in this area that they have dedicated an entire room to “CENTRAL PERK” where they have retired all the original props and such from the set. Everything is in it’s original spot exactly as it was when Friends was on the air.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip103-3.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip104-1.jpg

After taking a tour of the props department we were taken to a warehouse where they have many famous cars. :car: These included cars from Batman, The Matrix, Dukes of Hazard, Scooby Doo, and Harry Potter.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip124.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip126.jpg

We were then taken to the set of the television show Big Bang Theory where they explained to us how a typical sitcom is filmed. :happytv: It was interesting to find out that it takes an average of 6 hours to film a 30 min show and that the writers rewrite the script during filming based on how the studio audience is responding to it. On this particular day they were giving out free tickets for my favorite sitcom New Adventures of Old Christine. Unfortunately I didn’t have 6 hours to spare.:rotfl2:

After the main part of the studio tour was over we were taken to the Warner Brothers museum to explore for 20 minutes at our leisure. The entire upper floor was filled with Harry Potter memorabilia. Sadly we weren’t allowed to take any pictures so I don’t have any for ya, but it was a highlight of the trip.:thumbsup2

Overall I was extremely pleased with this tour. This wasn’t our first visit, we had also been 4 years ago and it was a completely different experience. For example last time we were able to go into one of the recording studios and visit the sets of Gilmore Girls and Everybody Loves Raymond. I look forward to doing it again a few years from now, so I recommend it to anyone who might be interested.

After the tour it was time to weather the horrible LA rush hour traffic back to our hotel. :scared1: Before checking in we headed to the local grocery store to pick up some beverages and snacks to stock up on.

We were given room 2109 in the San Diego building.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip133.jpg
The room was nice and comfortable with 2 beds. One was king sized and the other was a double. We were in a perfect location with a beautiful semi private patio.

Ok.. so Grauman's Chinese Theater... I haven't been there since that area has allegedly been "cleaned up" but lemme tell you, if it's been "cleaned up" and you were still scared by it then imagine what it was like 15 yrs ago. :scared1:

Talk about not being what I expected! Yikes, that place was a zoo. And not a nice zoo. LOL

However, I am a HUGE I love lucy fan and so Grauman's holds special interest for me.. as does the Brown Derby (if you're a lucy fan you know what I mean). I so want to go to WDW and experience them both. When I saw the one in LA I was so disappointed that there was nothing FUN inside that big, cool building! At DHS (MGM) they have a cool ride inside! Ohhh how I want to go see it. :headache:

Did you see the El Capitan? Now that I've heard of it (Yep, never heard of it before the Dis and I am native Californian :sad2: ) I really want to go there.

WOW you had great weather travelling the scenic coastal route!! Those were beautiful pics. I did that when I was a tween and had no fear of death. I'm not so sure I could face those roads now that I have mortality as my middle name. :scared:

I so totally want to do the Warner Bros tour! Never even heard of it before  It reminds me of how I felt the first time I did the Univeral Studios tour but 30 yrs ago that one has not changed almost at all! The Waner Bros one looks WAY cool and way more up to date. I'd love to see the ER and Central Perk. Very nice!

Ok, I think I'm caught up. P.S. That hotel looked VERY old school LA sorta like Norma Jean's place ;) . Nice!

P.P.S. My new favorite comedy is ALSO the New Adventures Of Old Christine.. though I've only seen one episode (I hate TV! It's so time consuming! ) I loved it!

Isn't the Hungry Bear Restaurant the worst? We ordered the same thing- chicken sandwiches, and had to ditch them untouched. There was a single bite taken out of one, and the rest were dumped. I have yet to find anyone who actually LOVES this restaurant.

I love the set pics you took. That is so interesting. It would be weird to see all the houses that are familiar from tv.

I like the burgers at hungry bear.

Great updates.
Those pictures of the coast are amazing.
I really wanted to do the WB tour when we go in December but there is no time.
Yeah we are at Disneyland now............that hotel looks great. We are staying at the Grand Californian but it looks like there are a lot of nice options right around DL that aren't Disney owned hotels.

We met everyone outside of Rainforest Café and were given an estimated wait time of 15 minutes.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip144.jpg

We were seated upstairs directly in front of the gorillas. My nephew got such a kick out of them, he couldn’t stop staring and smiling. :goodvibes Speaking of Logan, I was VERY impressed on how he handled everything on this trip. He’s 21months old, which is the age my DD was when we took her to WDW last year. She was terrified of ALL of the characters, and half of the rides so I was assuming that Logan would be the same way? NOPE!!! He LOVED everything! He wasn’t scared of one single ride, and one single character. He did better then my 2 ½ year old and his 4 year old sister.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip155.jpg

Well we learned quickly that poor Reya had not grown out of her fear of this restaurant. The poor thing would hide behind me or under the table anytime one of the animatronic animals moved or made noises. Surprisingly she somehow fell asleep in Linda’s arms during one of the simulated rainstorms.:rotfl2:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip160-1.jpg

Once the food arrived we passed around the sleeping toddler.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip130-2.jpg

I ordered the Chicken Friend Chicken, as usual it was absolutely fantastc! After we got our bill, we bid farewell to the RFC and headed to Build-a-Bear!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip153-1.jpg

When we arrived at Build-a-Bear it was insanely crowded! So for those of you who have never been and plan on going, they have an entire upper floor that is barely used. We found this out after we already created and paid for our new animal friends. We went upstairs and realized there was only 3 people up there while the entire downstairs was packed.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip173-1.jpg

Reya and Alyssa picked out their animals.

:dogdance:

They both ended up picking out the exact same one, but we didn't realize it until it was time to stuff them. They chose an adorable brown shaggy dog.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip158-1.jpg

After the girls picked out, stuffed, and gave their new little friends hearts it was time to brush and bathe them!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip177.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip181-1.jpg

Next the girls picked out their doggies clothes.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip192.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip178.jpg

Then it came time to pick out their names… Reya named hers Pumpernickel and I can’t remember what Alyssa named hers, I think it was Rover or something like that

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip196.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip198.jpg

After our Build-a-Bear adventure we walked back to the hotel to retire for the night. We had a wonderful fun filled day, and were excited for our first day at Disney!

I am so excited!! I can't wait. We're leaving one week from tomorrow!!

Right now reading your TR and seeing all your pics is giving me my fix. And I can't get enough of Reya's pics. She's just too cute. Bet ya she'll make a really great big sis one day. ;)

I bet! I'm excited for you!

I'm glad I'm giving you your fix, I LOVED reading everybodys TR before I left too. Thanks for all the wonderful comments on Reya, it's always nice to hear. I know she's going to make a superb big sis one day! During the trip she went through the "mine, mine, mine" phase with her cousins. I'm not looking forward to that however. :rotfl2:

You've never been to WDW before?!?! That surprises me.

The ride they have at MGM is pretty fun, it's not my favorite but a nice way to get out of the heat for awhile. I've never eaten at the Brown Debry, but have always wanted to. Maybe on our next trip ?!?!

The WB tour was soooo neat. It was a little expensive but totally worth it! The tour lasts over 2 hours, unlike the quick 15 minute tram tour they have at Universal. They also have a Deluxe Tour that lasts 5 hours. I was really hoping to see some movie stars, but NO luck! I used to work for the airlines and would see movie stars all the time. I've met and or seen Kevin Bacon, Matthew Fox, Jeff Foxworthy, Woody Harrelson, Shirley Mclaine, Sigorney Weaver, Gene Hackman, Darrell Hannah, Toby Mcguire, Kirsten Dunst, and many, many more.

I LOVE TV :happytv: :happytv: I watch way to much of it. ((At night)) Never watch it during the day, only when DD is sleeping. The DVR is the best invention EVER! :thumbsup2

I like the burgers at hungry bear.

Yeah, DH had the burger and said it was okay. Don't eat the chicken sandwich though.

Great updates.

September 23rd

Unfortunately this morning started out a little rough. Everybody was ready to leave around 9:15am until DH and I realized that we had misplaced our Discover Card.

DH: “Where’s the Discover card?”
ME: “I don’t know, I gave it to you yesterday”
DH: “No, you didn’t”
ME: “YES, I DID”
DH: “NO, you didn’t”
ME: “YES, I DID”

:rotfl2:

We frantically searched EVERYWHERE!! Under the couch, under the bed, at the front desk, in the car, in the dressers, in our clothes, etc, etc, etc…. All the while snapping at each other accusing one another of loosing it. I was almost in tears and my heart was racing. I was mostly worried because that card was pretty much our only means of funds for the trip. Before we left I had sent cash to the Credit Card to cover gas, hotels, and tickets. Everything else was to be paid for in cash. So loosing the Discover card would have been a Very, Very, Very bad thing. Finally after 30-40 minutes of turning our hotel room upside down we found it under the window next to the ironing board. DH and I then went back to accusing each other of who had it last until my DAD told us to grow up and drop it… We found it and that’s all that mattered. :lmao:

After a very stressful 40 minutes we were ready to go. But before we could head to Disneyland I had everyone come to our room so the kids could open their gifts from Tinkerbell and Mickey Mouse. :tinker: :mickeyjum

It was a complete hit… they absolutely LOVED everything, especially little Logan!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon004.jpg

Now it was time to FINALLY head to Disneyland! Dad and Linda bought everyone a bus ticket to get to the park on this morning. This was the only time that we used it because it seemed to be more difficult and time consuming rather then just walking. It was a nice gesture for them to buy it for us, but we just preferred to walk. DAD and Linda used the bus both days they were there however.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon011.jpg

We were through the gates by 10:15 am ….. It’s always such a beautiful sight and all my worries just melt away when I see this ……………………

My first stop was to get birthday pins for Alyssa and I at City Hall

After we got our Pins, we were headed down beautiful MAIN STREET USA!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip219.jpg

Once we got near the partners statue my dad said that he needed to get some bottled water real quick and to wait for him. He turned around and headed back towards the entrance. About 5 minutes later we see him rushing towards us, waving his arms up in the air. He proceeds to tell us that the dream team is hidden over by the lockers and giving away fast passes, so we all rush over and get our DREAM FAST PASSES! :woohoo:

Our first stop in Fantasy Land was the CAROUSEL. As I mentioned in a previous post Reya is terrified of carousel’s so the three of us skipped this one. Lori and Alyssa rode together as did my Dad and Logan.

We headed over to Space Mountain next. This had been my first time riding this version at DisneyLand, and OMG!! It was SOOO much better then the one at WDW! There was also NO wait so we didn’t have to worry about using our fast passes either.:woohoo: After our thrilling ride through space, Chad had realized that he left Lori’s sunglasses and his father-in-laws $700.00 camera on the ride. :scared1: Luckily someone turned the camera in, but the sunglasses had not been. Apparently there's something in our VANDAMME gene that causes us to constantly forget and misplace things.... we learned this very quickly on our trip.:rolleyes1

Buzz Lightyear's astro blasters was next on our list. Once again there was NO wait, and a BIG hit with all the kids!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip287.jpg

It was now time for lunch, we had reservations at the Blue Bayou for 1:40pm. Dad and Linda sadly had skipped having lunch with us because Linda’s a vegetarian and there wasn’t much for her to choose from.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip299.jpg

Our meal was absolutely delicious! DH, Brother and I had the Monte’ Cristo , while Lori had the steak . She commented that the steak was the best she’s ever had. :worship: I’d have to admit that the Monte’ Cristo was the best I ever had too! Our lovely waitress also presented Alyssa with some yummy chocolate Mousse for her birthday!

After lunch my poor brother decided to run back to the hotel to get his kids their strollers. Linda had rented them a couple from Disneyland earlier that day but they didn't recline so the kids couldn’t take a nap. The rest of us decided to take a quick ride on the POTC while he was away. Poor Alyssa was not a fan of this ride from the beginning. She was terrified :scared1: . In my opinion this version is way better then the one at WDW, but also a lot scarier for the little kids. Reya and Logan did awesome however! Unfortunately I was the one riding with Alyssa this time around so it was my responsibility to reassure her that everything was okay during the entire ride rather then being able to just sit there and enjoy it.

Once we were done with POTC we headed over to California Adventure to meet up with the rest of the family.

On our way out of the park we ran into the loveable Pluto. Alyssa was beyond excited to meet her first character and to get his autograph!

Once we arrived at DCA we headed towards the ToT

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip316.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip323.jpg

When we arrived we noticed that there was only a 5 minute wait! YAY!!! :woohoo: So far so good on waiting times.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon086.jpg

The guys rode together first followed by Linda, Lori, and I . The entire time we were waiting Lori kept asking what she was in for. I wasn’t giving her any hints, just told her she needed to wait and see. It’s always so much fun going to Disney with Newbies and seeing their reactions to everything.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip326.jpg

Of course, NO surprise, she absolutely loved it! :worship: When the ride was over and we were about to get off the creepy cast member asked us all if we wanted to take one more ride and we all replied was a BIG FAT YES!!!
I definitely think this is one of my top 5 rides, except I have to admit that I like the one at WDW a little more.

OK I just got home this morning and haven't even showered after our flight yet but I found your TR and just had to get up to speed :goodvibes
I LOVED LOVED LOVED the highway 1 drive too, so gorgeous :cloud9:
Cute BAB pics, I actually used to work there, it was a lot of fun (as far as retail goes anyway!) and I got the same Disneyland set for my bear Cornelius when we were at DTD :)
Looks like you all had an awesome time at DL, I think I *gasp* liked it even more than WDW, it's so small and cute :lovestruc

My brother was really impressed with the junk in her trunk! :rotfl2: I told him that it was probably a dude in that costume and that sobered him up pretty quick!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip350.jpg

Next we headed over to Monsters Inc, but first we had to stop and snap a quick picture of Wall-e !!!
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon087.jpg

Wall-e is currently my DD’s favorite Disney character. And he will always hold a special meaningful place in our hearts. The first movie Reya ever sat all the way through was his! I love how she gets excited every time she see’s him.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon089.jpg

The wait for Monster’s Inc was only 5 minutes! The kid’s loved it, as did I!

After our thrilling ride through Monstropolis we headed over to soarin.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon094.jpg

It was only a 10 minute wait! I could not believe our luck with wait times thus far. We had these great Dream Fast Passes and didn’t have to use them once. :lmao: As usual the ride was exhilarating! Chad and Lori absolutely loved it!:worship:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon097.jpg

After we were finished riding Dad, Linda, Lori, and Chad decided to ride it once again. Meanwhile I walked across the way to check out the cute gift shop there.

You don't know who Wall-e is?!?:rotfl2:

His pixar movie came out this summer ... It's freakin' adorable, you need to watch it if you have not.

The Wall-e that Reya is standing next too is just a cut-out located at DCA between Monster's Inc and the Hyperian theatre.

Once we arrived at Disneyland we searched for our seats for the parade. We found a great spot right in front of the Magic shop on Main Street.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon122.jpg

For the next hour all we did was relax, people watch, and chit-chat! My cutie pie did a little dancing for us too!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon113.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon117.jpg

Dad and Linda also bought the kids some light-up toys for the parade. This one is Reya’s.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon124.jpg

Unfortunately my camera died before the parade started, so these are the ones that my Brother took. Sadly not very many of them turned out, but I’ll share the ones that turned out half way decent.:sad2:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip382.jpg

Ever since Alyssa had received her gifts from :tinker: that morning she had been asking for her. ;) So she was super excited to see her leading the parade!:yay:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip381.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip388.jpg

During the parade I could overhear this family standing behind us, their poor little boy couldn’t see anything from where they were standing so I motioned for him to come take a seat by me. He was so happy and you could tell the mom was thankful that I did so, I sorta felt like a little dream maker. :cloud9:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip397.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip423.jpg

Reya was having the time of her life. Pointing, smiling, dancing, laughing, and clapping. I just sat there squeezing and kissing her the entire time. Almost from start to finish I cried happy tears. It was just so magical to be there with my family, there was no other place I’d rather be.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip400.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip416.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip434.jpg

After the parade was over, we sat back and waited for the enormous crowd to thin out a bit before we made our way out of the park and towards our hotel.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip438.jpg

Reya had such a busy, busy day and hadn't taken a nap all day, so it was no surprise when she crashed in her stroller on the way back to our room. :faint: Once we arrived we just transferred her into her crib without taking off her dress so we wouldn’t wake her. She and the rest of us slept beautifully through the night with delightful memories of our first day at Disneyland! :cloud9:

We went on SM at WDW in January. It was the first time on it for both me and the hubby. It was the first ride we went to when we got to the magic kingdom. We grabbed a fast pass and hopped in the line because it was short.

We did NOT like it at all. It was painful and not any fun. We gave away our fast passes.

September 24th

We arrived at Disneyland around 10:30am on this beautiful :sunny: morning.

The first ride of the day was Indy. DH, DB, Dad, and Linda went to ride first while DSIL and I took the kids on the Jungle Cruise. For some reason Alyssa and Reya were nervous and crying before we boarded our vessel ,but snapped out of it pretty quickly after they realized there was nothing to worry about.

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e231/Scouter2P/Disneyland%20Resort/Disneyland/Adventureland/IMG_0066-1.jpg

Once we disembarked our boat, Dad and Linda took the kids while the rest of us went to ride Indy. Another great ride and a big hit with the Newbies.:woohoo:

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t219/LadyLesphotos/Disneyland%20Trip/DSCN1779.jpg

pirate: Our next stop was to ride Pirates of the Caribbean once again because my DB missed out on it the day before. :scared1: Poor Alyssa freaked out before she boarded the boat, but regained her composure once we set sail.

((I’d also like to add that it was SO dead that half the boats were empty, we had a whole boat all to ourselves.))

http://i513.photobucket.com/albums/t333/Wishfulltink/Disneyland/Pirates%20of%20the%20Caribbean/POTC01.jpg

We were headed towards Critter Country to ride splash mountain when we realized that The Haunted Mansion was up and running! :yay: It wasn’t supposed to be open until Friday, so we jumped in line! There was only a 15 minute wait. My Dad was ecstatic because he was going to get a chance to ride it!

((Halloween is his favorite holiday too Beth))

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip446.jpg

Alyssa was terrified of getting on this ride. I guess the name "HAUNTED MANSION" doesn't sound very inticing to a 4 year old?!? We tried so hard to convince her that it wasn’t scary and was filled with christmasy, happy stuff! :lmao: She wasn’t buying it! The only time Reya had a problem was when we were standing the in library , otherwise she did GREAT!!

WELCOME HOME!!!!!

Hope you had a wonderful time!

Yes, the drive was so beautiful. ((And scary))

BAB was super fun, but way too expensive. Blow's my mind that I spent $50.00 for a bear and stroller. But it's one of only two things we bought for her on this trip, so it's not so bad I guess. :rolleyes1 She had a really great time too, so that makes it all worth it.

I'm definately a bigger WDW fan, but I still absolutely love DL! It was so nice to have everything there in one spot and within walking distance to our hotel. I'm equally in love with Florida and California however. I would really love to live in Cali. sooooo much to see and do.

Wall-e is my new favorite Disney Character at the momment. I really hope they add more things pertaining to him at the parks soon, I could'nt even find a pin to give to Reya while we were there.

Like I said it was Reya's first movie that she sat through so it was def. a family hit. We tried taking her to see Ratatoullie when it came out, but she only made it about 1/4 of the way through.

Your Fairytale Town photos actually make me want to visit! :rotfl: It's strange, because I know it doesn't look that good in person! It wasn't too bad except one day. ummmmmm I think it was on the 25th?!? It was soooooooooooooooo HOT!! Worse then Florida in the summer hot! I could hardly stand it and it gave me a terrible headache. Other then that it was great. I found this absolutely perfect photo spot in New Orleans Square. I desperately wanted to get a great picture of all the kids together, but it just wasn’t possible to get them to all sit still and look at the camera at the same time:sad2: . I couldn’t imagine being a children’s photographer, it would give me such a spliting headache. :rotfl2:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon075.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon144.jpg

Next Dad, Chad, and Linda went to ride SPLASH MOUNTAIN. Meanwhile DH, SIL and I took the kids on Pooh’s acid trip!pooh: All three of them absolutely LOVED it. Especially Alyssa who said it was by far her favorite ride thus far!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/shyneron/DISNEYLAND%20Adventure/Disneyland096.jpg

Once we were finished we waited for the other three to get back from riding splash mountain in a nice shaded area next to pooh’s corner. I also tried really hard to get a good picture of DD here next to the honey pots, but it just wasn’t happening, so this is the best I could come up with.:sad2:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon145.jpg

When the others got back they were SOAKED! Especially poor DB whom was sitting up in front. I personally was looking forward to getting wet since it was so HOT out.

So off we went………..

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/DeniseHawaii2008/splashmountainDL.jpg

DH sat up front and I sat right behind him. This pleased me because that meant I could duck down behind him to shield my face as much as possible. Sadly we got soaked about 30 seconds into the ride. :rotfl2: By the end we were really, really drenched. Is it just me or is the one at WDW much better and longer? :confused3

Anway ..............

While we were gone the others got to meet Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip459.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip461.jpg

By this time we were extremely wet and extremely hungry so we went to Hungry Bear to eat some lunch. I had sworn that I had eaten there before and had enjoyed the Chicken Sandwich but OMG it was sooooooo gross! I ate as much of it as I could just because I was starving and I’m also not one to complain so I just sucked it up. :sad2: Chad and Lori brought their lunch with them and everybody else ordered the burgers which they said were just okay.

During lunch we were trying to figure out what we all wanted to do next, so we had decided that we would head over to NEMO to see how outrageous the line was. If it was too long Dad and Linda were still going to wait but I wasn’t going subject the kids to waiting over 30 minutes, so if that were the case we would take the kids over to TOONTOWN..

http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd21/Rollercoaster1/Disneyland/IMG_1183.jpg

:scared1: WOW!!! The line was only 15 minutes! :woohoo: I had prepared myself long before we left on our trip that I wasn’t going to get a chance to ride this because of hearing all the horror stories of how most people were waiting 60-90 minutes at a time.

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c279/billbrown2010/Disneyland%202007/DLR4thday025.jpg

I really, really, really enjoyed this ride and am So happy that I got a chance to ride it. The kids absolutely loved it as well.

:fish:

Since it was Dad and Linda’s last day at DL they wanted to make sure they were able to ride California Screamin, so we headed towards DCA so we could all ride it together. Once we arrived Dad wanted to buy the kids their Ears first, so we stopped at the Greetings from California store to pick them out.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon084.jpg

Logan got the Pirate Ears, Reya got the Princess Ears, and Alyssa didn’t want any so she got a cute headband instead.

I haven't been on Splash Mountain at WDW since I was younger so I can't remember if it's better or not.

So during this trip I got my Dad and Linda into the whole pin-trading thing. My dad was really taking a liking to all the Tinkerbell pins, so I found this super cute one that tied in his love for Halloween as well. While he wasn’t looking I popped into a store to buy one for both he and Reya.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon187.jpg

It was only a 15 minute wait so Dad and Linda went first, followed by the rest of us.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon160.jpg

Lori and Chad absolutely LOVED it! I have to admit this is one of my favorites as well, it’s such a smooth ride.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon158.jpg

We then decided to make our way over to a Bug’s Land area. This was a first for me because I’ve never had a reason to visit before.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon184.jpg

I fell in LOVE with it. Everything was so cute and well themed from the benches to the bathroom signs.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon182.jpg

It was almost closing time so there was barely anyone there. The kids saw the little water play area and had the time of there lives. It was so nice too because there wasn’t a million other kids running around pushing and shoving their way around the smaller children.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon166.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip627.jpg

We let the kids run around for about 30 minutes until it was time to leave the park. They were soaked from head to toe so all of us except Dad and Linda decided to head back to the hotel early for the night.

So we sadly bid farewell to Bugs Land and DCA for the day.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon183.jpg

Dad and Linda hung out at DL for awhile longer and the rest of us went to the hotel to relax, do laundry, and eat pizza.

END OF DAY 8 :tinker:

__________________________________________________ __________________________

OHHH yeah I forgot to mention…..

There was this really weird lady that walked up to us on our way out of the park wanting to know if we would give her our Dream Fast Passes. We of course told her “NO”, but she was really pushy and rude about it saying that she would trade a couple of hats she just bought for them. We of course told her “NO” once again. She then proceeded to TELLus that our kids didn’t need theirs so WHY couldn’t we give them to her?!?! I couldn’t believe this weirdo….. Lori became really blunt with her and said “What don’t you get lady, we’re not giving you our fast passes” we finally just walked away... She looked at us with her jaw wide open as we did. LOL!!

Okay, really it's the end of day 8 now ............... :wave2:

So during this trip I got my Dad and Linda into the whole pin-trading thing. My dad was really taking a liking to all the Tinkerbell pins, so I found this super cute one that tied in his love for Halloween as well. While he wasn’t looking I popped into a store to buy one for both he and Reya.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/8ec9_11.jpg

 :yay: Where did you buy that???? I must have one. :cool1:

Actually, I think you should just give me the one you bought for Reya. Yeah, I want it. Just give it to me. She doesn't really need it. I'll give you a dollar for it. Come on....

:rolleyes1

:rotfl: Am I giving you flash backs to that psycho lady?!?!?! :rotfl2: Seriously, what the heck was that about??? Some people need to up their meds or something. What was she thinking? Sorry you had to deal with that. I'd have been ready to call security or something. Geesh.

Oh, and that is a cute pin, but I'll happily buy my own if you give me a clue where to look. ;)

I love all of the candy corn decorations. So cute!

The Bugs land area is so cute. We don't have kids but I still like walking through there.

This day started out really sad and depressing for me because I had to say goodbye to my Daddy. It always breaks my heart in two when I have to do so. We only get to see each other twice a year on average which isn’t nearly enough, especially now that I have a kid.

Anyway, he wanted us to come to come by his room before we walked over to DL for the day, because he had a couple of gifts for the kiddos.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon192.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon194.jpg

After they opened their presents we all said our goodbyes to Linda and Dad. Hugs were passed around and a few tears were shed.
((I want to cry right now just thinking about it))

:grouphug:

We decided to split up from my DB and his family for a couple of hours because they were going to take Alyssa to the Princess Fantasy Faire. I have to admit it was a little nice to spend some alone time with just the 3 of us.

:dance3:

As we headed down Main Street I was looking in all the windows along the way, and totally fell in Love with these Mickey and Minnie pumpkins.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon196.jpg

The first ride of the day was the Astro Orbiter. Reya absolutely LOVED it.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon201.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon200.jpg

Second ride was Buzz Lightyear. Reya sat with me while DH was by himself. DD managed to score 100 points all by herself. And I managed to somehow beat Will’s score for the first time EVER! LOL!

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn118/disasterxpiece/wdw3032.jpg

I think it’s important to inform you that the weather was BEYOND miserable on this day. It felt like an inferno outside. I could hardly stand it, plus it was giving me a terrible migraine. But I wasn’t going to let that ruin my time, so we headed over to ToonTown for the opening.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon208.jpg

We went straight to the Roger Rabbit ride.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon223.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon209.jpg

I don’t think I was a very big fan of this ride?!?!, It‘s okay, but WAY to jerky and that was without me spinning the car around..

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon212.jpg

I absolutely love ToonTown it’s filled with so many cute photo opportunities. It just sucked because it was soooo freakin’ hot out I could hardly stand being in the sun.

:rotfl2: I know I could hardly believe it myself! I was in shock when I saw that posted time.

And YES, I do remember your encouragment on riding this ride. :) I actually thought of you before I got on, knowing you would freak knowing how short the wait was.

Aww... thanks!

Sounds like another great time was had by all. We didn't spend much time in the Bugs Life land as the girls are a little older and it was HOT that day

Your baby girl takes the CUTEST pictures. She is so expressive. I know you say it's tough but you sure get some good shots! My favorite this time was her lifting hte heavy weight in ToonTown She looks just she should be hanging out at the gym! So cute :thumbsup2

I always hate saying goodbye to my family (all in So Cal without ME). It stinks. :sad1:

Wow you were so lucky with the crowds, DL was pretty busy most of the time when we were there (surprisingly, *** I thought it was a quiet time of year!) We only used one FP though, for Indy :)
I love the dress Reya is wearing on the parade pics, i'd totally wear it if they made it in adult sizes! I love her expressions in pics too, I bet she could do kid modelling/TV ads :cutie:
We didn't make it to the Bug's Life part of DCA but the theming does look great, maybe next time :)

I let Reya play in the RR water fountain for a little while to cool off.

Next we went to visit Minnie Mouse’s house. ::MinnieMo Wow, I really think she got shafted here at Disneyland. For one Mickey’s is much bigger and second the one she owns back at WDW is twice as large.

I can't believe Nemo was only a 15 minute wait!!!! I don't think I saw it at less that an hour the entire time we were there! I'm sooooooooo jealous, stupid school forces us to go during peak times :sad2:

And, yes, I thought the Splash Mountain at DL was shorter too. It also seemed to have a quite a few stretches where there wasn't much to look at. WDWs is much better IMO.

I know, I was in shock when I saw the wait time. From afar it looked like it said 45mins, and I was like. "No way". Then when I got closer and noticed it was only 15mins I almost passed out. Did you guys get a chance to ride it? It was sooo cute and the kids loved it.

Yeah, the SM at WDW is def. much better. The one at DL seemed to go REALLY fast too, I couldn't enjoy it because it was going so fast. I was really disapointed because it's usually my favorite ride.

I haven't been on Splash Mountain at WDW since I was younger so I can't remember if it's better or not.

That spot in New Orleans Square is one of my favorites in the park.

I've only been on Nemo once, not long after it opened. And we waited forever for it. You are lucky!!

I am VERY lucky! The wait times were unbelievable the entire time we were there.

Aww... thanks!

Sounds like another great time was had by all. We didn't spend much time in the Bugs Life land as the girls are a little older and it was HOT that day

 Bugs Land was so adorable, I Loved it. The chew chew train was my favorite ride there. ((More on that later))

Thanks for the comments on Reya! It makes my heart swell everytime people tell me how cute she is. I should post some of her "bloopers" shots, you'll laugh your butt off. I can't wait until she can follow simple commands when I want her to pose for a picture. :lmao:

I hate more then anything to say goodbye to my dad. It was really hard this time just because of loosing my mom recently. Makes me realize how suddenly things can happen and I won't have the time that I need with him.

Wow you were so lucky with the crowds, DL was pretty busy most of the time when we were there (surprisingly, *** I thought it was a quiet time of year!) We only used one FP though, for Indy :)

I'm sorry the crowds were so busy for you, that's sorta surprising since we were there close to the same time. But being that you only used 1 FP it couldn't have been that bad.:thumbsup2

I love Reya's dress too. They had it in red aslo, but not in her size, it would have made a cute minnie mouse type dress.

Thanks for the comments on Reya too, like I said I love hearing them. I can't wait until her hair really grows in, she's going to be even more beautiful.

Bug's Land area was freaking cute, but there really isn't any reason for adults to be there except for the 3-d show. ((which is awesome by the way)) I really like that there is only one way in and way way out too.

 :yay: Where did you buy that???? I must have one. :cool1:

Actually, I think you should just give me the one you bought for Reya. Yeah, I want it. Just give it to me. She doesn't really need it. I'll give you a dollar for it. Come on....

I knew you would like that pin! You can pretty much buy it anywhere on Disney property. And NOOOO you can't have Reya's you crazy crazy lunatic. LOL!!

Yeah, that lady was really freaky. At first we thought she had to be joking, but soon realized that she was just insane.

I love all of the candy corn decorations. So cute!

Unfortunatly we didn't get a chance to ride it. :sad2: The waits were always so long, and I just won't wait much more than about 30 minutes. I heard that it is basically the same ride as the one in Epcot, the vehicle is just different (subs as opposed to clamshells), so I didn't feel too bad missing it, it also gives me a reason to go back!

That's so nice of you to ask about my dog. I think she's on the mend. Did I tell you she has kennel cough? I can't remember. But I think she's getting better. She's on two antibiotics - one for kennel cough and one for her stomach. She's been on a bland diet of rice and hamburger since Friday but I'm starting to gradually add in her new dog food. Fingers crossed that her stomach can handle it.

DD wanted to take a quick spin around TT and ended up having herself a little accident right in front of Goofy’s house.... so we decided to go ahead and visit for a little while since we were there anyway.

It was nearing lunch time so we decided to start heading towards DCA to grab a bite to eat. It was so hot out we needed to take a little sit down break to cool off on our way over there.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon266.jpg

We met up with the rest of the crew at Taste Pilots Grill. Chad and Lori brought their lunch again while DH, DD, and I shared the Loaded Fries and Cheese Burger. Mmmmmmmm Mmmmmmm Mmmmmmm.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon269.jpg

After lunch we decided to ride Soarin’ again so we took turns watching the kids. There was only a 10 minute wait! :woohoo:

Then we needed desperately to cool off so we made our way over to GRR! Will and I rode first and shared a raft with a delightful family of 4 , then Chad and Lori took their turn. We didn’t even need a child-swap pass because the line was only 10 minutes long. I was thinking that it was going to be packed because of the weather, but once again we lucked out. Unfortunately we didn’t get too wet though …. :sad2: It was soooo hot out that I wanted to get soaked, but no such luck.

We then headed off towards the boardwalk area. Reya loved these bears, so we ended up buying a cute puppet grizzly for her.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon277.jpg

There was NOBODY in line for the Golden Zephyr so we decided to give it a whirl, especially because the girls love anything that goes around and around. ((Except for merry-go-rounds, remember?!?))

Next was Mulholland Madness. I however declined to ride and said I would wait back with the kids. I’ve read about everybody’s thoughts on this particular attraction and the majority said it sucks, so I said "No, thank you"

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i81/monorail91/Disneyland%20Resort%20December%202006%20-%20January%202007/DSCF1049.jpg

We then headed over to Toy Story Mania. Once again I had prepared myself mentally before my vacation that I probably wasn’t going to have a chance to ride this because of wait times being outrageous. So you could imagine my surprise when I saw only a 15 minute wait time posted at the entrance. Wooo Hoooo!!! Obviously we jumped in line super fast!

It was about 4:30 at this time so we decided to go ahead and find a seat for the Pixar Parade. We ended up on a shadded bench right next to all this yummy Candy Corn!

I actually really like Mulholland Madness. It's a short ride but it's funny. And actually a little scary and it whips around the turns. Although, I think Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom is more fun because it spins.

I can't wait to ride Toy Story Mania. I hope we luck out and get short wait times in January.

Love the candy corn stalks.

Yes! And I love it! I had to expand my wait time for that one, we waited about 40 minutes both times we rode it, but it's so much fun that I didn't mind the wait. I also got to ride it a few times at DHS in July. :woohoo:

Hmmm... Quite possibly my favorite picture of Baby Girl. :lmao:

I'm still here, too, sorry I haven't been posting as I read. :)

I'm not a huge fan of Mulholland Madness either. If my boys decided it was too tame for them, I'd happily never ride it again. It's a small rollercoaster, but as an adult sitting in those little cars, every time we hit a sharp turn I feel like the dang thing is going to tip right over and drop me on my head on the pavement below. :lmao:

Yay an update!
We loved TSMM too, I think we waited a bit over 20 mins for it (went straight there at park opening, it was rammed later in the day!) Hopefully they will add FP at some point :)
We didn't think Mulholland Madness looked much good either, it's basically a 'wild mouse' coaster which they have at every theme park in the world, just with a different theme
The pic of Reya with the 3D glasses and pacifier is too cute, and the one with her and your DH. You can really see how similar they look in that one :)

LOL! No problem. I was excited when I saw that someone responded to my last post. I think I've lost my readers. I'm going to try and get this TR finished asap, because it's taking up way to much of my time. We're supposed to get snow this weekend so it'll give me an excuse to finish it if possible.Snow??? You're kidding! Isn't this early in the season for snow? Yikes. I do enjoy a white Christmas though. It's not the same without snow on Christmas.

You haven't lost me!! Even if you wanted to! :rotfl2:

I love all your pics. How do you get them to come out to clear and perfect?? Wait till you see mine. They always suck. We have a cheap camera though so I guess you get what you pay for.

I love all those pics with the Princesses. princess:

We had PS for the Lilo and Stich aloha breakfast this morning at the Paradise Pier Hotel for 10:20 AM

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p69/shellybelli/HPIM2709.jpg

It was a painless 5 minute walk to the hotel, we arrived 15 minutes early and they accommodated us with NO problem.

The restaurant was practically empty, it was soooo great! The kids had some amazing one on one time with all the characters. Max really took a liking to Logan and was by his side almost the entire breakfast. They were like best buddies, it was so cute!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon372.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon416.jpg

The buffet was pretty yummy! I had eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and of course the famous Mickey waffles.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon381.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon408.jpg

Reya did “okay” … She never cried or screamed, but she still didn’t want anything to do with the characters. She would see Minnie from across the restaurant and point and wave saying “Mouse, Mouse”, and when she would come towards us, DD would duck under the table whimpering.

Logan and Alyssa however had the time of their lives. They got to visit and play with Minnie, Lilo, Stitch, Pluto, and Max.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon384.jpg

Alyssa was a given a yummy chocolate desert and also sung to for her birthday! She was all smiles! What a great birthday, huh!?!?

:cake:

I'm really happy that we decided on doing this character breakfast, IMHO it was soooo worth it.

You haven't lost me. I'm still here and loving your report. Your pictures are fantastic. I still think Reya is just one of the cutest little girls in the world (along with my two nieces, of course...haha.)

Okay...I'm off to read your recent installment now....

Oh good, I'm so glad I haven't lost you and that you're still loving my report.

Judging by your PTR I know your TR is going to be fantastic!

Awwwww, and thanks for the sweet comment on DD. I think she's one of the cutest little girls in the world too. ;)

The photo of the girls waiting for the parade is so cute.

Primeval Whirl is pretty fun,but the cars were really uncomfortable if your sharing with other people. My DH has wide shoulders too so that doesn't help.

Mulholland Madness reminds me of the "wild chipmunk" that we have at one of the parks here, I used to hate it as a kid, it scared the jeepers out of me, I always thought it was going to fly off the track.

Toy Story Mania is a blast, I hope you get a chance to ride it.

Yes! And I love it! I had to expand my wait time for that one, we waited about 40 minutes both times we rode it, but it's so much fun that I didn't mind the wait. I also got to ride it a few times at DHS in July. :woohoo:

I'm loving all of your pictures, the one of Reya with her 3D glasses is too funny! And the one of the girls waiting for the parade is really, really cute too!

I know, I think it's one of my new favorites now! I was so happy that the wait was so short. I heard the theming in the qeue line at WDW is much better though.

Thanks for the photo comments. That photo in the :3dglasses is hilarious, she really pulls those glasses off. :thumbsup2

Hmmm... Quite possibly my favorite picture of Baby Girl. :lmao:

 Thank you for reading an posting!

Well it looks like I didn't miss much by not riding Mulholland Madness, my SIL said it was pretty uncomfortable too, so I'm really glad I didn't ride.

Thanks for the comment on DD!!!

Wasn't it the best?!?! So much better then Buzz Lightyear, which I'm a big fan off too. I really wasn't thinking that we'd have a chance to ride it.

Thanks for the wonderful comments too. DH and DD were going to go as Dr. Evil and Mini Me one year for halloween, that's how much they look like each other.

Are you going to do a TR soon? Can't wait to hear about your vacation.

That parade looks really cute...even though I'm not familiar with all of the pixar movies.

Thanks. My pre-trip report has been so off topic lately though. But once we get back from the trip and I do the actual report...it'll just be hundreds of photos. It takes me a while to do it though because I'll have to organize all of the photos from my camera and my husband's camera.

I've seen Toy Story 1, Toy Story 2, The Incredibles, Nemo, and Cars...and I think that's it. I own Monsters Inc but I have never watched it. I'm a bad disney fan...haha.

After breakfast we went to DCA for one last visit.

First we headed to the Hollywood Pictures area to enjoy several attractions .

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip046-3.jpg

We didn’t want to skip seeing Crush, so our first stop was the Animation building to visit our favorite Sea Turtle.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip083-1.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip056-2.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip055-2.jpg

I have to admit it was a really great show filled with lots of laughs. :rotfl2: I loved hearing all the kids ask their silly questions. After the show we explored the Animation building a bit and headed to the Sorcerers Workshop to discover who our Disney Character was.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip059-2.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip062-3.jpg

Alyssa was Ariel

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip066-1.jpg

Lori was Lady

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip072.jpg

I was Cinderella

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip074-1.jpg

And Reya was The Evil Queen from Snow White. :lmao: I have to admit she can act like an evil queen once in awhile.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip070-2.jpg

Next we headed over to ToT for one last time. Chad and Will rode first followed by Lori and I. There was only a 5 minute wait!:woohoo:

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip090.jpg

After our last thrilling ride on the ToT we headed over to Monster’s Inc again for the kiddos.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v647/dustysage/Monsters%20Inc%20Ride/12-20-05154.jpg

As we were on our way over to bugs land we ran into Chip, so of course Alyssa had to say “hi”

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip114.jpg

Next we went to Bug’s Land in hopes to see IT’S TOUGH TO BE A BUG, but there were “bugs” they were trying to work out so we couldn’t see it. Ha Ha Ha..... Get it?!?!? :rotfl2: "BUGS TO WORK OUT" HA HA .... Why aren't you laughing?!?......:confused3 Anyway.... ((This was probably one of my biggest disappointments of the trip)) So we decided to take the kids to ride a couple of rides in the area since we were there.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip129-2.jpg

Our first stop in Bug’s Land was Heimlich’s Chew-Chew Train!!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip151.jpg

Oh my goodness, what an adorable little ride! The kids loved it, especially Reya!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip139-1.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip142.jpg

As the train passes through the half eaten food you could actually smell them.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon172.jpg

Great update as well!

I love (and stole :rolleyes1 ) that Tower of Terror graphic picture you took. That is so wonderful.. I'm sure i saw it and loved it but never would have thought to get the pic. Good eye! :thumbsup2

Great lighting on the Monsters Inc shot... another great photo. I liked that ride alot BUT.. I was disappointed ONLY because when I saw the movie for the first time I remember thinking "WOW this scene (with all the doors) would make a GREAT roller coaster and I hope they do it as a ride at DL!"
It's a cute darkride though.

I wish I had read/researched more (I find it difficult to say that, but it's true in this case!) about DCA before my trip as I didn't know about Heimlicks train and the "smell" factor. I would have ridden it just to experience that.

I still have to backtrack and hit the installment before this one though!

Thanks!

Your daughter, neice and nephew are adorable. It looks like they had a wonderful time. I love the picture of Reya playing in the water at Bug's Land. She looks so excited!!

Breakfast with Lilo and Stich looked yummy, too! To get a picture of my family with Max and Goofy would be SO COOL! Was Goof there, too? I absolutely LOVE the Goofy movies... have you seen them?

Have you seen Emporer's New Groove? There's a scene in it where the villianess turns into a little white kitten and says in a high pitched, shrill voice, "I"m going to keeeeeeeeeeeell you!" (kill you). Once when DDC was about 2 or 3 yrs old she was at the doctors office and I turned around and she had M&M's lined up on the seat of a chair and she was pointing to each one and saying in a high pitched shrill voice (softly though BUT STILL).. "I'm going to keeeeeeeeeeeeeeell you!" :scared1:

None of the other patients could know, of course, that this was from a Disney movie! I'm sure they all thought we should be committed. :sad2:

:lmao:

Loving your TR.. thanks so much!

Thank you , Thank you, and Thank you!!

You really should check out the Bug's land area it is so freakin' adorable. I wished we would have spent more time there and definately ride the Chew-Chew train, as you could see below it's not just a kids ride. :lmao:

That video is hilarious, I found it on Stephenie Meyer's myspace page. Yep, she's one of my buddies we're like BFF we're really tight! :rotfl2:

It's fun to act like a dork once in awhile. I know what you mean about feeling dumb doing kid stuff when you don't have children. My husband and I felt like that all the time before we had Reya. Sometimes I think I only had a kid so I could have an excuse too do silly "kid stuff" :rotfl2:

Here's another picture of everyone being "dorks" on the chew chew train.

The meaning of Reya's name is "queen" , but I didn't know it meant "evil queen" :confused3

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip144-1.jpg

Ohhhh and I took tht ToT picture on large wooden gate that's located right next to where you pick up the fast passes.

cute photo!

I guess I've never seen that ToT sign because I rarely go near that ride. I'm so afraid of it!

Your daughter, neice and nephew are adorable. It looks like they had a wonderful time. I love the picture of Reya playing in the water at Bug's Land. She looks so excited!!

I also have to say that reading your trip report made me curious about the Twilight series. I picked the books up about two weeks ago and finished them all in a matter of days. My husband was in India on business and my kids go to bed early, so I was able to get a lot of reading time in. I got hooked in! Thanks

:lmao: YAY!!! I created another Twilight fan! I have yet to meet one person who hasn't been addicted to the series. In the begining I was nervous about mentioning the book to anyone because I felt silly reading it, and thought I was the only adult doing so. But when I went to SM book signing I was surprised at how many there were! You should read her book the HOST it's really good too, but be prepared the first few chapters are confusing.

JUST FOR FUN..... Here's a couple pictures of the author I took at her signing.

I hold you completely responsible for my new addiction  . Until I read your trip report, I seriously never even noticed the books even though they are everywhere. I just finished the excerpt from Midnight Sun on her website. I will have to go to the book store to get a copy of the Host now. Of course I probably should wait until after our Disney trip- we leave on Thursday. Instead of cleaning and packing last night, as I should have been doing, I was reading the Midnight Sun.

I enjoyed your trip report. It is so fun to see Disney through the eyes of little ones. I cannot wait to see how my kids react this time around. We went in February and it was a truly magical experience. I hope we have as much fun this time around- even with the crowds

I do not have a pre-trip report. I have no plans to write a trip report, but that doesn't mean much. I didn't really intend to write the first one, but couldn't stop myself when we got back. I will for sure be sharing pictures whether I write a report or not. One more day to go :woohoo:

Hello Everyone!!

Sorry, I’ve been away for awhile. I received my mothers ashes a few days ago, and have been going through the grieving process all over again in a way. So I thought I’d better finish up my trip report to keep my mind off of some things for awhile, so here ya go………

________________________________________________

Reya wanted to take 1 more spin on the Chew-Chew train, and how can I say “NO” to this face?!?!

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip150-1.jpg

Alyssa and Lori rode Tuck and Rolls buggies next. Unfortunately Logan and Reya were too small to ride so we just stood back and watched.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon445.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon447.jpg

The only ride left that we wanted to see at DCA was California Screamin’, so we made one last visit.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip204.jpg

Well, at this time we decided that it was time to say “goodbye” to DCA ! It’s always so depressing, but I’m looking forward to coming back in the future and seeing all the great changes they have in store.

Lori’s feet were aching because she decided to wear the wrong shoes that day, so she needed to find some new ones in a gift shop on the way out. DH, DD, and I wanted to ride POTC one last time so we walked ahead of them and told them we’d meet up afterwards.

There was barely anybody in line so we walked right on..... However the crowds were definitely much larger then anything we had experienced since being on this trip. It was a friday so I wasn't surprised.

We shared the boat with several people, which had included an annoying couple sitting right behind us. The husband decided that he needed to take tons of pictures so his stupid flash went off the entire ride.. It took everything in my willpower not to turn around and throw him overboard.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e41/southerncagallery/Disneyland/piratesofthecaribbean01.jpg

After we got off the ride I was really starting to feel sick and didn’t think I was going to be able to continue on. I decided that I would try to tough it out for as long as I could, because I didn’t want to ruin anyone else’s time, especially cause it was our last night.:sad2:

Will and I wanted to ride Indy one last time, so CHAD and Lori stayed behind with Reya. ((BTW, not a great ride when you’re feeling sick)) The line was 25mins long, so we decided to use our DREAM FAST PASSES for the very first time!!! That was the one and only time we needed it.

http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc128/disneyresort/Adventureland%20at%20Disneyland/indianajones6.jpg

After riding INDY I was contemplating whether or not I should go back to the hotel. I told everyone else they could stay, but they begged me to stay with them, so I said I would for as long as I could. On top of being sick I was really depressed because I KNEW I would NOT be able to tough it out for 4 hours, which is when the fireworks would be starting. I had been looking forward to the fireworks more then anything else.

Since I wasn’t feeling well I told the rest to go ride BTMR while I stayed behind with the kids.

Your picture of Indy was REALLY awesome. Another unique shot that I have not seen before. I also loved the outside pic of PotC. Brings back memories of before there were those bridges out front.

Yea, you're back!

Yep, I finished the Host right up! I didn't like the begining but I kept listening to your voice (it gets good, it gets good) and I powered through and then BLAMO! I was laughing and crying and all kinds of fun.

My favorite part was when the guys were bringing back the granola bars and they each had some for her (reminded me of Twilight).

And also when Ian says, to Jacob, "Tell Jared he's shameless" after the new sleeping arrangements have been tossed around.

I don't know if you remember those parts but I don't wanna give out any other details due to spoilers. OMG I loved that book!

I'm over on the Twilight thread now. COUNTDOWN IS ON!!!!!!

OMG! She had soooooo much fun, and she was soooo cute! I'll post a few pictures. She was absolutely amazed that you can walk up to peoples doors and they give you candy. LOL! The first couple of houses she didn't understand and tried walking into peoples homes. Also it was the most beautiful night ever! Couldn't believe it, it almost always snows here on Halloween, but it was PERFECT!! Didn't even need a jacket. And of course I thought of you when we were trick-or-treating.

The kids were being so cute playing with each other. I just sat watching them and relaxed in front of a lovely air vent. I also sat and talked to a lovely lady for about 20 minutes. I love meeting new people when I’m at Disney.

After the others were finished we headed over to the Matterhorn. On the way I had to take some pictures of these awesome pumpkins.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/Roadtrip124-2.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/2008tripcanon469.jpg

The Matterhorn was a MUST for the boys so we were delighted to see there was only a 10 minute wait. When they came back Lori talked me into riding it….. I was shocked to see that Reya was tall enough to ride so we took both her and Alyssa. Unfortunately I can’t say I was a big fan. :confused3 I’m really glad that I rode it, just to say that I had but it was really jerky and uncomfortable:scared1: I had to hold onto Reya really tight so she didn’t slam her little head into the side of the car. She loved it so much that Will took her back on.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p218/slackerdeanna/matterhorn01.jpg

After their 2nd ride DH and DB took the girls to ride Autopia.

Lori and I waited under a nice shaded tree with Logan. ((This is when I saw Teri Hatcher walk by))

Unfortunately at this time I decided that I just couldn't take any more excitement, I was feeling miserable and needed to go back to the room. I begged everyone to stay, because I didn't want to ruin their time, but they decided to come back to the hotel with me. We all missed out on the fireworks and that's my biggest regret of the whole trip.

The rest of the night we just relaxed in our rooms and ordered some pizza.

~~Well, that is pretty much it for the Disney portion of my trip. I'm so sorry it took me so long to finish it up. I'm going to go ahead and add the other days of our trip for those of you who are interested. Please know that I won't put as much effort and detail into it since it's not Disney related, but I still wanted to share!

Reading my TR is sure making me miss Disney like crazy! I'll be back soon with the rest of my trip, I hope you all stick around even though it's not Disney related. :grouphug:

I agree...the Matterhorn is pretty uncomfortable. I still like to ride it at least once every trip though. It tends to give DH a headache though.

Too bad about the fireworks. I'm really hoping we can catch them while we're there. But we'll only be at the parks wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Fingers crossed they'll have them on sunday.
