Here are some "fun with trains" ones.
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/image486.jpg
The PP taking this picture was in training (I think) He said he'd never shot at this location before. He had a more experienced PP photog with him. He told us we should come back after dark (it was twilight in our shot) to get a nicer picture but since DCA closed in about an hour and we were "crossing over" we didn't make it back. Maybe another time?;)
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/image235.jpg
Here we are "running" to catch the train.:rotfl2: (Original shot)
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/PPrunningfortrain235corrected.jpg
This was corrected in Photoshop-looks better, I think
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/image237.jpg
And finally here's DD9 pretending to being hit by the train (her idea) :rotfl:
Notice that the last 2 shots were taken at the same place, same PP photog. Difference in first is the sun was shining into the camera. She needed to flash fill us. :confused3 I'm going to try to fix through Photoshop. ADDED-see 2 pix. I corrected 2nd one. :wizard: Now to add the logo....
Great picture MommywithDreams!
Fun shots dezimber! Your pix point out what I've found with alot of mine taken at night. The background is more in focus than the people. I wish PP would place the emphasis (and focus) on the guests.

My son didn't get the "you're fighting Hook" look. He just stood there smiling pretty. LOL We told him to make a mean face and he couldn't :rotfl: You put a camera in front of his face and he smiles.

At least your Hook came out! You will notice in my 'Hook picture' (can't remember what page it's on, but it's somewhere on this thread), I am dueling with NOBODY! Due to technical difficulties, my Hook didn't come out in my picture, so I just look like a crazy person dueling with my imaginary friend!!
I know what you mean about your son not 'getting' the expression or pose he was supposed to do for that shot. He is young, so he can be forgiven. I was saying in my earlier posts on this thread that my adult friend (who is in 98% of the pictures I posted here) could never quite fully let herself "look scared" when they told us to look scared, or really 'get into' her role that the PP photographer asked us to play. She was always trying to smile or pose nicely while I was really making a fool of myself and making ridiculous faces and playing my part. A method actress, if you will!!:lmao: :lmao: I think my friend was afraid to really let go because she worries that people are looking at her and thinking she is nuts. Well, if she were stopping in the middle of the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard or in the middle of the bank and "looking scared" or pointing at the ground or in the air and "looking surprised," yes, people would think she is a loony tune and would have her committed right away!!:lmao: But in Disneyland, where lots of people are taking wacky pictures with PhotoPass people and without, nobody cares. If anything, people watch you pose and take your pictures because they want to take PP pictures too and they want to see what poses they can do in their own photos. People watch you and see that you are having fun with one of the really fun photographers and they want to do it too. They aren't thinking we are crazy, but my friend can't let loose!

You're lucky - at least in your Small World Holiday pictures, you didn't have tooooo many people in the shot behind you. If you look at my version of that same photo from a page or two back, you will notice my situation was much different. You almost got a clear shot with no people. I didn't have such luck. And we had to wait for someone with their giant, honkin' Mickey balloon to move out of the way so that it didn't obstruct the view! Meanwhile, there were already 1000 people in the picture, obstructing the view!
Sherry, sorry I'm a little late getting back to this but am pretty sure that picture was taken after midnight. We get to our motel room until after 2:30 am. If we had driven home we would have been home around 3:30 am. It was pretty deserted despite the very long line for IASW which was 2x longer then when we went that mornng.

You mean the Photopass photographer was still out in front of IASW after midnight??! Wow! I know the PP photographers are not thrilled with that IASW location, either because UNLESS they are there after hours it is impossible to get a clear, uncluttered picture in front of IASW Holiday. There are just too many people milling about. The guy who took my pictures hinted to our group waiting our turn that Disney COULD give them a slightly better vantage point from which to shoot, so the masses of people waiting in line wouldn't be in the way as much (as they are in my pictures), but Disney won't let them set up in a better spot, or maybe on a higher platform of some kind and would rather that the PP photographers not even set up at IASW Holiday at all. Apparently, Disney and the Photopass people have been going back and forth on this issue. But clearly, when IASW is so beautiful like that during the holidays, people will want PP pictures, so the photographers go there anyway and set up in a horrible location because they have no other choice.
Oh, and by the way, when we rode IASW in the morning, it was during our MM hour, so we were literally the only ones on our boat and there was no line of any kind, at all. When we went back at night, the line was so long it was almost into Toontown. Crazy.

Yeah I was surprised that the photo pass people were still going strong. We went the second weekend in Dec. The photos could surely be better if they were able to make adjustments to the location.
We rode IASW around 9:45am or so. They were just setting up the Turkey Leg cart on our way to get in line. We were on a mission for turkey so sailed around the world in our quest. There sign stated a 45 min. wait but it felt a lot quicker but we did see some empty boats. They might have been slowly adding them to accomodate the expected crowds. When we went back at the end of the day it was twice as long and was lined out of the frame of the picture over near the the parade gate/route.

I haven't heard a date yet-don't know if they have released it. For now it looks like they are concentrating on Paradise Pier area. And starting Cars Land construction. The last info I was given by a CM was that the Orange Stinger and the Dinosaur (store) are the next to go.
Oh, and BTW, since we are now a Sticky Thread you no longer have to subscribe if you don't want to fill up your subscriptions list. This thread will be at the top. Yeah!

I can see that our new Sticky Status is already working wonders!:cool1: :cool1: We have already gotten several new people noticing this thread and a couple of them posting because the thread is right up there with the other photo threads on each page. When the thread kept disappearing into the archives, waiting to be bumped, it was hard for people to know that there was a PP thread on which they could post their own pictures!! This way, we will attract many more people to post!
I will miss seeing the Dinosaur in DCA, but that Orange Stinger is a vehicle of torture as far as I am concerned, so I won't be sad to see it go......though it is being converted into a Silly Symphonies-themed ride, right? So I wonder if the mechanics and the 'thrill' of the ride will be the same, with just a different body/shell/exterior?

Hi all! I just wanted to post that I got an email from one of the PP photogs at DLR and he won photo of the year for 2008.:goodvibes (no it wasn't of my DD) I'm so happy for him. If you've seen the one of the 3 little girls in matching outfits sitting on a beach blowing Minnie a kiss it's that one! (some of the PP photogs have that one to show guest what the Minnie pix will look like). He also won 4th and 5th.
Out of 3 million pix taken in 2008 and 3000 photographers who took them, he won 3 out of 7 places. DLR andWDW CMs did the voting. Many of the pix I have posted here were taken by him. We search him out when we go. :goodvibes
So, if you are looking at the pictures on this thread just know that there are good quality photographers at DLR. :goodvibes That may make your decisions to use PP easier.
I'm so happy for him I just wanted to share. :)

You have mentioned this PP photographer before. Even though I pretty much always stop at whoever and wherever the PP photographer is, I want to know who this guy is next time I go to DLR, so I will know to expect good quality photos. I am still debating on whether or not to bother with going on my b-day (it's in the middle of the week and may be hard for friends to get off work) because it's in summer, and I HATE summer heat; plus, I don't want to have a bunch of PP pictures with sweat dripping down my face!!), but if I do go then, I want to look for this guy. What is his name and what does he look like, so I can hunt him down - so we can ALL hunt him down? I realize his locations probably change from day to day so we probably could not expect to see him at any one place on a regular basis, but is there any spot where he tends to be assigned more than others?
The one I like (because he was so much fun) is the guy with blond hair and glasses, who I have seen inside DCA and DL.

Okay, I'm having PP withdrawals. :confused3 We are going today for the afternoon and evening. I've promised myself that we are not doing the PP thing. I just finished up one and I have already arranged a new CD share (actually 2) to take place in May and June. So I don't really need to do another one, right? Even though we will also be there in 2 weeks for the premiere of the Celebrate! parade. My nephew is performing-his first time with his face showing. :goodvibes I don't really need to take more PP, do I?
Well, just in case I decide to do it, I think I will have a few PP taken. I'll also have them take some with my own camera so as to fool the family :rotfl2: . Besides, my fav. PP photog may be working Jedi today and he said he'd take some PP of DD fighting the enhanced Darth. Last time we got ones with Darth they disappeared into no mans land. At least I can use some of my MnG coupons to get the Darth ones. Better than nothing ! :rotfl2:

Anyone have any more? I was just checking the photopass website and they've added some new borders.:cool1: New 2009 ones and more just engaged, just married, Happy Anniversary, etc. Of course Celebrate is there as well. Only wish they had been there for my Jan./Feb. pictures. Oh well, I'm doing a CD again in May/June. Maybe even this month-going to DLR to see premiere of Celebrate! and it looks like we are taking my 3 month old foster son (DD's 1/2 brother)for his first trip. Doesn't it make sense to get PP taken? Anyone up for a CD share starting around March 27th? :rotfl2:

Yes, it's an option on the website. You can remove the color. You don't need to request from the photog.

You don't have to ask the PP photographers for black and white. Just make sure to ask them for whatever magic shots they have whenever you stop to take PP pictures - Tink in the hand, Stitch in the ground, Mickey on the bench, etc. - so you don't miss out on any of the enhancements. But when you get home to do your editing of your photos online at the PP website, then you can make whichever ones you want black and white, and save the B&W versions as separate copies. Sometimes it is cool to have versions in color and B&W, just for fun.

If you want to view my PhotoPass-only albums on Photobucket, to see the different versions I made, and the different variations of poses and enhancements, here are the links:

Thanks for posting the photobucket links!! I actually went thru the PP thread last night and copied & pasted the type of photos (or poses) that I want to do on our trip. I am just going to shrink them down and print them out and then show them to the photographers.
I will go thru your additional photos and surely will come up with some more ideas! Thanks again!!;)

You're welcome! You're doing the smart thing - making notes or copying and pasting the PhotoPass pictures you like. It helps to know because some of the same enhancements (Tink in the hand; Stitch in the ground) can be done in different locations around the park and people don't always know that. The photographers can't be trusted to always tell you what magic shots they have available, or the locations they can put you in, so it is good to be prepared when you go and ask them for what you want. And don't be afraid to take too many photos. Take as many as you can possibly stand - even in locations you have already hit before. The more photos taken, the better the chance of getting some great ones in the bunch!
You may not get any new ideas from all of my PP pictures on Photobucket because this thread is great in displaying the variety we have all gotten at DLR and WDW, but let me know if you do! And make sure to post your PP pictures here when you finally get them done!!:goodvibes

Great news-new enhanced "magical" shot available. :goodvibesWent yesterday to see CELEBRATE! and saw a new "magical" photo opportunity. I saw one of the PP photogs having guest holding their fists up in the air and I said to myself, looks like there going to put balloons in the picture. So we waited our turn and asked Dave, PP Photog, if that's what he was doing. And he showed us what it'll look like. So of course, we had to take some. DD9 held her fist up in the air, I held her up like she was being pulled away and my DSis held on to me like I was also going up. We'll have to wait until May to see them as I figured a way to get yesterdays PP pn my May CD. If I don't upload until April 26th, and order by May 26th, I can do it. I won't be able to see them until then online but next time we go to DLR (last night was too busy to check ) I'll look at them in the PP store.
Dave also took some pix of DNephew (foster son) sleeping in his stroller so I could add "1st visit" to the pix. Thanks Dave.! :goodvibes:
FYI-the pix was taken in front at DL, in front of the Mickey and balloons landscaping.
Anyone get the new balloons that they can share?

I love all the pictures, Laurie!:thumbsup2 I think I had been so spoiled by getting wonderful PhotoPass pictures during either Halloweentime or Christmastime that I actually wondered if the non-holiday periods would be interesting enough for PhotoPass pictures (never mind the fact that in all my years of going to DLR I never even used PhotoPass until 2008!). After seeing your pictures, along with Judy's and Dizneydaz's pictures, I am relieved to know that the photos are just as lively and festive during the non-holiday season and I can't wait to get back there (hopefully on my own birthday, with any luck) and seek out the PhotoPass photographers!

Yes, it's for all the Disney PP photographers. The choose a few (or one?)each week. Then from those they pick a monthly one. Then a quarterly one, and from 4 quarters they pick Picture of the Year, of all pictures taken that year. One of my favorite photogrpahers won 2008 photo of the year-it inc. all pictures taken by all PP photographers during 2008. All parks.
I will crop a lot if there is something (or someone) I want to remove from my picture-or cover it/them with a border. Then when I get my CD I will use photoshop to remove/correct other unwanted things.
Sometimes I'll crop myself out of a picture and just have DD in it. :goodvibes

This one I got by asking one of the photogs in front of the castle if he could take the balloon shot there, he said no, but maybe he could by the Matterhorn. He asked his lead (who happened to be nearby) he okay'd it and we got this one. The photog said it was the first one he knew of taken with the Matterhorn and balloons (this was at the end of April).

What types of "magic shots" do the photographers do there? Are they the same as at DL? More? Less?:confused3

Pretty much the same now that DLR has added more. There is one where you can hold Simba that is only at AK in WDW.
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/951DanielleandSimbaTINK5x7.jpg
DLR has the hitchhiking ghosts (when you can get them) but WDW has the ghost driving the hearse.
Of course there's Tink and Stitch. I haven't done Soarin' at WDW, I'm sure someone here will post if they have. Also not sure if they are doing the Celebrate balloons. Hope so.
When I look back at our WDW PP pix, most of them are of our family alone, without much enhancements. They do offer some fun poses (Charlies Angels at DHS, etc.) Look through this thread for some ideas.

The last time I saw Chip and Dale before this photograph was taken, they scolded me for not having them on my lanyard. So this time, after I found the perfect pin of them to put on my lanyard, they decided to admire the pin, so I chose the I'm celebrating border because they're celebrating their appearance on my lanyard.

So here's a stupid q:
How would I approach a Photopass person to take pics w/ all the cool poses & effects when I don't know what they have to offer? I'm a very shy person & would be afraid to approach a Photopass CM w/out feeling like I'm asking something stupid. There are lots of effects that look really cute, but I don't know if they'd still offer it or not & I don't wanna seem picky and be like "Oh I want this, this, & this." So do any experts have any advice? :goodvibes

Well, having too many pictures is better than having too few, so don't be picky - just let them take whatever shots they want to take of you doing wacky things or making faces or whatever. What you need to ask for - because I think we all agree that some of the PP photographers will not tell you about everything they have available for you to get - are the "magic shots." When we were approaching some of the PP people last year, I could tell they would look at us and assume we were serious adults who didn't want to do crazy things. So before we even stood on our mark, I would tell them, "Okay - lay it on us! Make us do crazy stuff! We will do anything wacky you want us to do!" And that's when we had the MOST fun with one PP guy in DCA, over near the Bridge, and he had us laughing and acting like we were being squashed by a train and all that. He ws SO much fun. I wanted to take him around the parks with us, because it would have been non-stop giggles.
So since they won't tell you about all the magic shots they have available, tell them, "Give me whatever magic shots you have. I want them all. Tinkerbell in the hand - I want it! Pointing at Stitch in the ground - I want it! Sitting next to Mickey or Minnie on the bench - I want it! Pointing up at Mickey, Minnie and Goofy in the sky - give me that too!" And so on and so forth. Just make yourself as willing and open as possible and let them do what they want with you, and you will find that the results are joyous and wonderful and will bring smiles to your face every time you look at the pictures!

I agree with Sherry. Be willing to have fun. Don't be afraid to act silly, you're in Disneyland the place where lots and lots of incredibly silly, gigantic hats are sold. Ask a photographer for any "magic" shots. And if you've seen one here that you must have, ask for it. Disney was nice enough to literally track down a photopass photographer who could do the Darth Vader shot that I'd been trying to find for 3 days.
And though it doesn't apply to "magic" photopass shots, don't be afraid to have fun with the characters and goof off with them. Just last weekend, I watched Chip kiss one of my pins before Dale decided to eat said pin. Ask them questions about their movie or animated shorts. In some cases, the most magical character interactions come about because the guest does something that tells the character they really love the movie or animated shorts. I think this applies to both children and adults.

Thanks for the advice! My fam usually doesn't take pics of all of us together, but when we go on our vacation, I'll be sure to use Photopass & ask for the Magic Shots. But I still have a feeling my DPs will just have me in most of the pics. lol. I can't wait to do fun poses! :goodvibes

Here's a few more from my recent, multiple, CD Share. These were in late May.
My DD loves to play around with the photos and photographers. Here's a few that she suggested to our PP photog, Dave, and he was game. Interesting thing to know-they can't take any pictures of you with both feet off the ground.
In these 2 she told Dave "what if I was just walking along and Stitch popped up?" Here's the results.
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/Image425.jpg
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/Image429.jpg
I added the Summer Nightastic banner so it would look like Stitch was being roasted, a little.
And here she is being almost swept away by the balloons.
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/Image406.jpg
And finally, here she is being silly (and trying not to fall off the railing!)
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/Image414.jpg
These were all taken by Dave.
And here's one of the 3 of us acting silly. Even got my DM to do it! :rotfl:
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w158/ter623/Photopass%20DLR/Image377.jpg
Quick note-It is much harder to spend more time with the photographers during busier times. Summer and the holidays they are too busy to do much extra. But if you can be there during off-season you can usually get more time with them and different shots. That's one of the reasons I love going in Jan, May, and Sept. (as well as all other months except June-Aug. and the holidays)

I have not gotten any fun Stitch ones, but have done the Captain Hook one at WDW, and Tink, and Simba.

I never know what to expect when I see Chip and Dale. This time they were quite excited to see that they were on my lanyard as ewoks, so Chip kissed the pin. A couple of minutes later, Dale, not to be outdone, ate the pin.

This is what I find to be the easiest way to post photos, with the least amount of confusion. If you don't already have one, start a FREE Photobucket account. Upload your photos to Photobucket, and after they are done loading, you will see a series of codes (4, to be exact) either underneath or to the side of each photo. Each picture has its own codes. All you have to do is go to the very last code of the 4 - the "IMG code" - click on it to highlight it, Copy it (Ctrl C), then paste it (Ctrl V) right here in your post. I wouldn't even worry about the little box with the mountain icon. Bypass that altogether. Just paste the link right here in the body of the post. Sometimes people have to use that mountain icon/insert image box if they have photos stored on a different website than Photobucket, or if they have them stored on the DIS in the DISer Photos section, but I find the Photobucket/IMG code route to be the easiest and fastest. Try it!!!:goodvibes

Leaving for WDW in 20 days and will be going to DLR a few times before so I'll have some new PP to post after. Since I got a group of friends together to get the CD it won't be until the end of October.
Still have some pictures I can post from last CD. I'll do some soon.
Thanks for adding your pictures, DD!

I just found out something that anyone who plans on having both DLR and WDW pictures on one PP CS should know.
Previously, the price you paid for the CD has been determined by the park you were in last. Now, however, the price you pay is based on the last card you upload, regardless of the date taken. For me, this means I have to make a trip to DLR to reset my pricing since one of my WDW cards was uploaded last. :confused3
I even called PP to verity this.
Here's the email I received from Disney re: pricing
Greetings,
The PhotoCd to include the Walt Disney photo CDs is $ 149.95. The
Affinity is decided by the last Photopass card added to your account.
Sincerely,
Disney Photo Imaging Guest Support Team
Thought you might like to know.

I don't have my CD yet to be able to add anything, but I must say that when my friends and I went to DLR last month for our little day trip, we encountered some really uninspired photographers. Well, actually, it was one extreme or the other - they either did not care or they cared too much! The very first guy we got - he was at the floral Mickey as we entered - was very particular about where everyone stood, exactly how far out someone's foot was, he made sure our sunglasses were on our heads and not covering our eyes, he even made sure that I zipped up my jacket to a certain point because he needed "a black background"!! Then, we next encountered the photographers over at the Mickey pumpkin. Last year we only got pictures on one side of the pumpkin but not the 'winking Mickey' side. I wanted winking Mickey so we went to that side. The photographer was totally unenthused and confused.
Not one single photographer had us point at Stitch in the ground this time, nor did they have us "look scared," as we usually do. Nobody had us sit next to Mickey or Minnie on a bench. Only one photographer near the Castle had us hold out our hands for Tinkerbell, and that picture did not come out that great because my friends' hands are not positioned correctly. We had one photographer who had us do the "Charlie's Angels pose," which was fun (it requires a group of 3 people), as well as the "Rockettes Kick pose," which was hilarious. And finally we found one photographer who had us point to the sky for the 'Soarin' pose. Otherwise, everyone we encountered - even though I told them that we wanted to do silly things and to have us do whatever they wanted - was a dud. They all seemed bored or not into it.
However, that said, I managed to pull off a master feat... The last two DLR trips I have made - which were three-night, extended weekend stays - we used PhotoPass, and from one trip I turned 55 pictures into 110 pictures (not too bad), and on the next trip I turned 99 photos into 300 photos (pretty great). But on this little one-day Halloweentime trip to DLR last month, we only took 30 or 31 PhotoPass pictures...and by using almost all the borders for each photo and cropping, doing close-ups and making black and whites of each one, I turned 30 or 31 photos from a one day trip into....into.................wait for it.................559 pictures!!!!!:thumbsup2:cool1: Yes, 30 or 31 pictures into 559 - that is crazy.
I had to make sure I got my money's worth out of that CD when I buy it.;)

Great job on stretching 30 to so many!
Sorry about the PP photogs. When they don't volunteer the special shots, I ask. Of course my 2 fav. photogs don't even have to ask.
We were there on Tuesday, the 24th, and got to be on Tiana's showboat. I can't wait to add the Princess and the frog enhancements to the ones of DD and the characters. I'm probably going to wait until around 12-24 to upload so I can maximize my PP CD ordering window. We'll be going in Jan. while DD10 is off track. My favorite time to get PP taken is Jan. With so few people in the parks, they have more time to take shots. :goodvibes

Marie, that was 30 very similar pictures stretched into 559! So basically, I have 559 pictures that all look alike!!:rotfl2:
I should also point out that I feel very lucky to have gotten the 'Stitch-Popping-Out-of-the-Christmas-Present' photo at DCA during the holidays last year (already posted on this thread, somewhere back in the pages), because I asked a couple of PP photographers and they were not doing that particular magic shot again this year...not to mention the fact that no one else seemed to get it last year! In fact, I ran into such uninspired and unfestive photographers in October and last weekend - even when I told them we wanted to do silly things and get the magic shots and all that - that I am surprised we got anything 'fun' at all. But these that I am about to post are pretty run-of-the-mill PhotoPass pictures - nothing spectacular or different.
Anyway, I already posted different versions of these photos from my October day trip to DLR in my TR (mostly without borders), but I will post some here as well. Dizneydaz has pretty much already shown everyone the variety of borders. I have to say I was a bit disapponted with the selection of holiday borders this year. Most of them were the same ones from last year - nothing new - and as far as Christmas borders, there were even fewer options than last year! Yes, last year, there were several more options for holiday borders than what was available this year. I assumed they would put some new ones up, but not really.
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii308/Mousesausage/DISNEYLAND%20OCTOBER%202009/Image0009.jpg
I don't know why I used this border - none of us are Fairies fans. I guess I chose it just because I could!
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii308/Mousesausage/DISNEYLAND%20OCTOBER%202009/Image0050.jpg

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii308/Mousesausage/DISNEYLAND%20OCTOBER%202009%20-%202/Image0281.jpg

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii308/Mousesausage/DISNEYLAND%20OCTOBER%202009%20-%202/Image0312.jpg
We were told by the Photographer that they cannot always do this Tinkerbell in the hand "magic shot" because sometimes the guests have on white shirts or something that is too light in color or too "busy" (my shirt was too busy, but if I had my black jacket zipped up, they could have used me as the backdrop) to use as a background for Tink. So they have to position the guests' hands so that they fall in front of the shirt that will be the best backdrop for Tinkerbell!

Great photos, Orbitron!:thumbsup2 So much fun! You reminded me that I have neglected to go to Mickey's house on the last few visits and get a photo taken, so I must make a point of doing that (translation: drag my friends back there) on the next DLR trip! Also, I have only had one photographer get us sitting on a bench with Mickey. I want to have more of those done.

I love Mickey's house. We met him in his movie barn as sorcerer, band leader and in his classic outfit.
I have only had one photographer get us sitting on a bench with Mickey. I want to have more of those done.
We did request the PhotoPass photographer for the Magic Shot with Mikey, because I had seen pictures like this on different websites. He didn't suggest it by himself, but the photo with Minnie was his idea.

I am getting ready to order a CD from Photopass and this morning the site was down. Now that it's back up it look likes they've finally made a change to the default size on their photos. It used to default to 5x7 but now it defaults to 4x6. This is good news for those who order most of their prints as 4x6 not 5x7. If you saved the photo to 5x7 and it had a border, when you printed it 4x6 the border would be cut down on 2 sides. Maybe they had a lot of complaints.
The old way if you wanted all your prints to be 4x6 instead of 5x7 it would immeadiately double the amount of images on your order.
I do most of my prints 4x6 so this is a real timesaver. Unfortunately for those friends sharing my CD is means if they wanted 5x7 formats they will get 4x6. The CD has to be ordered today so no time to change them without paying for an extension.
Just thought those who get the PP CD would like to know. I will have new photos to post as soon as I get my CD.:goodvibes

Thanks! It's the first time we've gotten out pix taken in that area. The photographer was very accomodating since she said she didn't have anything to do while waiting for Woody and Jessie's return.
I should have asked if she could take ones on King Triton's Carousel. We got some taken there a few years ago and they came out great!

Okay question: I have never purchased photopass photos, so, do the CM tell you what to do in your pose and they add it in? Or do you pose however you want and then add things in later?

Okay question: I have never purchased photopass photos, so, do the CM tell you what to do in your pose and they add it in? Or do you pose however you want and then add things in later?
You can do both. Ask each CM if they can take any special photos. Or if you have your own ideas, go for it. Look over the photos in this thread for some great ideas. If you are going to buy the CD (only $59.95 at DLR) let the photographers know. Tell them to take as many pictures of you as they want. Some will take extra, some won't. Have fun!
The photos with Tink, balloons, stitch, mickey, minnie, etc are "magical" shots. The photographer will have you pose in a certain way so as to make the shot work. When you view your photos the added enhancements will be there. Then you can add in more enhancements. Not all photos can use all enhancements. Photos with characters can have their autographs added. There are borders you can add. Experiment and have fun with it. If you will be printing 4x6 and 5x7 make sure you save both sizes. This will make a huge difference in the photos with borders.

Have you had a chance to look through this thread? I'd say that 95% of the photos are all from Disneyland (very few from WDW). You will see all the Disneyland-specific borders, locations and magic shots - even the holiday-oriented ones.

Thanks - I've looked through most which is great to give me ideas of where they are in DL (first family trip to DL with DS9 - we go to WDW every year).
What I was more interested in is 'magic shots' - the balloons, soarin overhead, tink, stitch, minnie on bench. I've seen the ones I've already seen at WDW but wasn't sure if there were any just for DL - like Simba is just at AK?

Can't wait to go to WDW and also ride SM at DLR now that's it's been switched over for Halloween! Going to try to make a visit to DLR before we leave next Friday for WDW. I have a few DV coupons I need to us, or lost, before 10/3/10.

Finally there are all new holiday borders thie year! YEAH! Maybe they were listening?
There are 4 new Holiday borders. Actually 8 since they are in English and Spanish. There's one new Hanukkah (sp?) one as well. Also there is a new DCA logo one that looks nice. It's a yellow undulating thingy going across the bottom.
Hopefully someone can post the new borders soon.
Also, as of today, the Halloween ones and the TG one is still there.

Once again I asked for any "magical" shots.

Thanks again! I think the Memories border should be around for awhile since it ties in with this years motto.
The FFW were held starting in Feb. It was pretty cool to get a lot of the character photos. The main reason we went was my DNephew was working it so we could see/visit with him.
I think it was a test to see if Disney guests liked meeting characters this way instead of in more random ways. I hope they don't eliminate characters walking around, etc. but I hear that that's they way Photopass/Entertainment (now merged) are heading.
October sounds great!;)

There's usually at least one PP photog in front of the castle, unless there is an event going in at the castle. During the summer as they start blocking things off for the fireworks, they will disappear.
If you are at DL and don't see a photographer around (like in front of the castle) go to the PP store at the end of Main Street and ask when one will be there. They have the schedules. Sometimes you might just be unlucky enough to be there while they are on break. My 2 favorite photogs work M-F, usually like 8-5 so if it's after 4:45 or on the weekend, they are gone. Seems to me that some of the better ones work on the weekdays.
There is almost always one at the hub, unless they are on break. This is where we usually can find Dave.
Here's one of our family taken earlier this year in front of SL Castle.

I have to say that I, too, have always seen PhotoPass photographers in front of the Castle and have gotten numerous Castle photos over the years (including nighttime Winter castle, daytime Winter Castle, Charlie's Angels pose, Rockettes kick pose, etc.).
But, I wonder - in which year did PhotoPass begin at Disneyland/California Adventure? I know that WDW had it before DLR had it. The first month/year I became aware of PhotoPass was September 2007, but I didn't go to the parks in 2006 to know if PP was there at that point.
Is it possible that the reason lurpee didn't see any PP photographers in front of the Castle in 12/2006 is because either PhotoPass had not started in DLR yet, or because they hadn't yet fully settled on their permanent 'stations' around DLR?
Sherry E
08-04-2011, 08:45 PM
At a quick glance, I couldn't find the year that PhotoPass began at Disneyland Resort, but I think it had already started well before December 2006, when lurpee was there and didn't see any photographers in front of the Castle.
I am thinking that maybe PP was still 'new' enough at that point (12/2006) to where they hadn't become fully staffed with photographers and hadn't quite gotten enough people settled in various posts around the parks yet, but who knows??:confused3 Maybe they had fewer CM's available to man the different stations and therefore some of the photo spots were left unattended for longer periods of time?

We went in December 2006 not knowing anything really besides that we wanted to do the rides (even though it was my fourth visit I think). We did the Photopass but didn't see anyone in front of the castle. I will be watching for it for sure this time! I look forward to this! Thanks!

Bumping up a little. I will have new ones to post but not until early Dec.
Quick note for those of you who combine WDW and DLR PP CD in one order and pay the DLR price, $59.95. This is no longer allowed. If you have any WDW photos in your account, you will be charged the WDW price, $149.95, or $99.95 if you prebuy before any photos are taken. I just received an email from PP after I inquired about the pricing on my recent WDW and DLR trips. This is a recent change as I did the same thing back in late June/early July and only paid $59.95.
Thought you might like to know. Wish I had before our recent WDW trip in October. :sad2:

Here's a few of the DLR ones. These are mostly from DCA Meet 'n Greet with Santa.

This is in the Duffy area. If Duffy's not there you can get photos with you and the background.

Used this one as our Christmas card. It was Santa's idea for the shot.

Tried to include a selection of the holiday borders so you can see what's available.

Great pictures, Dizneydaz! I really love the picture of your daughter with Santa - the one in color, in which he has his arm around her. That's adorable. She is a very photogenic young lady!
The 'Stitch popping out of the present' picture was actually from 2008 (remember, I was the only one from the DIS who seemed to have gotten it, for some odd reason??:rotfl:)! They were no longer doing that PhotoPass pose as of 2009 because the Christmas tree was moved to a different spot and for whatever reason it didn't work as well or they were not allowed to do it. It was only this current (about to end) holiday season that they brought the photo op back, from what the photographer I was chatting with told me.
Although, to be honest, I liked the old 2008 location for the Stitch/present picture better. This current one does not allow the photographer to get as close up, for some reason, and when I was looking at my PhotoPass pictures from my trip a few weeks ago I realized I liked the closer vantage point of the 2008 version of the Stitch picture much better than the version I got in 2011. Oh well, what can you do? I guess it's better that they have the photo op than to not have it at all.
I can only hope that DLR comes up with some nifty new PhotoPass poses, locations and magic shots once DCA's work is totally finished later this year.
Oh! And I love love love the fact that PhotoPass is now giving us the 'bonus' stock Disney character photos on our CD's! That was a delightful surprise to me (maybe I missed some discussion on it?) when I went on to view my photos. It only increases the value of the CD all the more. I especially love the pictures around the Partners statue, and the one of Mickey and Minnie by the train.

Thanks Sherry! Was it really 3 years ago? Wow how time flies!:goodvibes I thought it was only 2 years.
New PP opportunities would be great. I too love the stock photos you get. Pretty cool. ;) And you can even enhance them. :thumbsup2
Funny thing about the Stitch photo-the first time we were waiting for Santa the PP photog offered to take our picture in front of the tree. She didn't offer the Stitch one but I spied the present sitting off the side.;) I asked her if they were doing the Stitch one again. She said they were and I told her we wanted to get it. Once we took our photo I noticed that she did offer for the guests in line after us. I'm glad I saw the present.;) We were able to do it 3 different times while waiting for Santa.

I noticed I really haven't posted much from Halloweentime-so here are a few more from the villian meet 'n greet. We just missed out on Dr. Faciler from Princess & the Frog. Missed him by just 2 people. :sad2:

I think Cruella is one of my favorite characters. She is so in character all the time.:wizard:

More fun with characters. My DNephew (3 on Christmas Eve) still hasn't warmed up to meeting characters. He swears he will talk and dance with Pluto but when the time comes he suddenly gets shy. Here's a series of photos taken with Pluto when he finally touched his nose. Pluto was great and even did the "Hot Diggity Dog" dance with my DD12 to try and get DNephew in to it. It didn't work!

They were so in-sync it was almost like they had practiced.:goodvibes One of those spontaneous moments I love Disney for. :)
Funny thing is that DD was always good with characters. Always!

Here are some where we had fun with the photog in front of the castle.

Notice that we had DD hold her hand up for tink where it is black behind her so she wouldn't get lost in the pumpkin on her shirt.

Here are some pictures with the new 2012 boarders from the Tinkerbell Half Marathon weekend.
They are not too clear because I don't have the CD yet.
