They want me to stay until 5/15. So a cruise on 5/23 would be so nice. Hanging out with my sister here involves a lot of shopping- which I am not a shopper- never have been and eating out. It would be cheaper to go on the cruise, and much more relaxing, I am going to talk to them again today.

Well I talked them into it. My mother was just worried she would be too much to handle. I convinced her that this would be easier than doing the parks and with no kids and husbands- sorry guys, I could just pay attention to her. She is very low maintenance. She will be 88 the week before!!!!! My sister is more work than my mother, she has to be kept busy.

I am so excited, it will be a nice relaxing trip after all this work stuff.... I have to go through the closet and wee what in there.

has any one been to Tortolla?

Good Morning Everyone :)

I need to play catch up. Last night we saw "Lion King". Amazing is the only word I can think of and that doesn't even begin to describe it.

We went to Tortola years ago. It was beautiful. If you can go to Virgin Gorda. It is a small island and I'd go back there in a heartbeat.

I'm off today and so many errands to do.

Where's Kathy?

Annette :)

Hey Joanne - I hope your day goes well and gives you enough to do to make it interesting. I missed chat last night because my son came home after hiking the Appalachian Trail for a week, so we enjoyed his company and had our traditional dinner and a movie. He will be here for the weekend. I am so happy to see him!

Hey Amanda! It is a chilly 45 here which probably sounds like a tropical paradise to you. I want to get some leaves out of my flower bed at the mailbox but I think it will have to get a little warmer before I do that. I'm a wimp, I know.

So - what exactly do you and Annette have planned in terms of trips now?

Its suppose to hit 50 here today but its a chilly morning. Tuesday it was 70 here so i got spoiled.

We only have our October trip planned so far. We don't travel alot in the summer just going to the cabin. We talked about going to New York to see Mary Poppins for my birthday but i have a 1/2 Marathon scheduled for the weekend after so we will have to do it before.

I have to work 2 Saturdays a year and only for a few hours. I have to run a benchmark test, so I need the whole computer to myself and that's the only time I can get it. Not so bad.

I am working Saturdays too. But I hardly ever work on Thursdays!!
Seriously, all is well here in sunny CT, but it is still kind of cold. They say tomorrow will be better.
We had a St. Patrick's Day dinner and auction last night. We probably made about $10,000. :yay: Our music director, one of the cantors and I offered to come and do a 45 minute set in the home of the highest bidder as one auction item. We even gave them a little preview with "Together, Wherever We Go" from "Gypsy". Our motto was taken right from the show: "Get them to beg for more, .... and then don't give it to them." The auctioneer got $1,200 for our little act. Not bad, huh? :cool1:
Back to regular priest stuff today though.

Hi,

I won't try to quote all the weather watchers. I'll just say that it's sunny & dry 34*. The snow is melting very slowly, which is a good thing to avoid flodding I guess. There's still a lot of it. We're guessing the piles in WalMart parking lot won't be gone til the end of April.

Last night we went to the high school production of "Anything Goes." What an excellent job they did! Such talent for h s students!

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Not too bad, Kathy - and you have a job! That is good news these days. My school held a staff meeting Wednesday and announced the board had made a decision that nobody would receive a raise - admin on down - with their contracts next year, but they also are not planning on letting anyone go even though re-enrollment is at an all-time low in the school's history. Ugh!

Too bad we don't work for AIG, Mimi! :lmao: We were told no raises, which makes 3 years in a row. However, we are getting a small bonus, but they aren't telling us how small yet. I did win a $200 award for one of the projects I'm working on, which was a BIG surprise!!! It's a great honor since they practically NEVER give those out anymore.

I am thankful I have a job (actually 3 jobs :rotfl: ), even though I have to learn a bunch of new stuff for the new responsibility. The good news is that they are letting me take a bunch of training, which they haven't done in awhile. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things continue to go well. ::yes::

If you guys are coming to NYC, PLEASE let us know! We would love to meet you in the city for drinks or dinner! :yay:

::yes::

I am thankful to have a job especially with the school's re-enrollment at an all-time low. So many people are having to make very tough decisions.

You tube, never thought of that???

It's amazing what is on You Tube, Joanne!

Thought I would check in with everyone and tell you what an awesome day we today to celebrate our birthdays.

Just got home from Mary Poppins. AWESOME! What a great day! We had great seats (3rd row on the right hand side). A little close but to me I'd rather be too close than too far back. Well those close seats came with an added bonus at the end of the show. We were giving the cast a standing ovation when a man walked up to the stage and was clapping. It was Richard Sherman! Those of you who were on the 2007 Member Cruise or who have read my review of the 2007 Member Cruise know what he means to me. Wish we could have said hello but he was whisked backstage pretty quickly. The perfect end to the perfect show.

After the show we walked a couple of blocks to Petterino's for a really wonderful dinner. Now we are home and relaxing.

I am glad Nancy is feeling better. Tommy said it sounds like they have him in a great program. He was glad that he was majoring in sports management. You know him anything to do with sports. Megan has changed her major to education which surprised us. She wants to teach high school and coach. I guess it really should not surprise us since Ryan is coaching wrestling and Tommy is an assistant coach for baseball. They think they may have found a permanent baseball coach so he may be stepping down. The players will be glad because he and the head coach are really hard on the kids. He wants to start on a new press box for the football field. It never ends.

So you will be there all day Sunday as well. I think the Jet Blue direct flight leaves ORL late Mon AM but they haven't actually posted flights beyond Oct 31. That's one thing I've noticed about JB - no consistancy in flight times. During the winter it goes at noon but in Oct it's almost 2:00. Go figure!

Hey Everyone :)

We are trying for BLT(currently on the waitlist) before the cruise and we are staying at BCV after the cruise. If we can't get into BLT, we might consider VWL. That is the only older DVC resort we haven't stayed at. We will be arriving Thursday before and we will being staying until Tuesday. It is less expensive to fly Tue, Wed and Thu. We are doing MNSSHP before the cruise rather than after. I really don't want to deal with the crowds on Halloween at MK.

Joanne - I told my employer (new for me this year) before I signed my contract that I was taking the week off for the SSMC08. I figured if there was a problem, it was better to know before I signed my contract. IT worked out fine. I bet something similar to one of these two solutions or bribes will work fine!

Just caught up on this board. Tought I hadn't read it since last SAt but discovered some posts I made during the week. So much for the memory!

Sounds like a wonderful birthday. I don't think I personally wished you a happy one so please acept my belated Happy Birthday :bday:

YOu are too funny with all these smilies.

Me thinks he needs more chores to fill up his time!

Some of his teachers have suggest to him that he would be a good teacher so perhaps he will look at something like teaching PE or coaching. I don't think his school offers a teaching degree though so it would mean transferring or going an extra year. With the economy right now he'll be lucky to get through the 4 years.

Hi All We have had such a busy weekend that I did not get to post.

Nancy I think teaching would be great for Brandon. He could get a degree in something else and then get his masters in ED. It sounds like Dan is working his fingers to the bone. About like Tommy. He started cutting the football, baseball, softball and soccer fields this weekend. It is nice to have him out of the house and out of my way. :rotfl2:

HI Leisha and Tom and everybody else

I don't know if you remember them or not but Dave Halloran and his wife Sue called Saturday night to let us know they are still going on the cruise with us. They at ate Parlo with our group last year.
Actually he called to let us know he called Disney Cruise and changed from catagory 10 to 11 and saved a bunch of money.
We called Sunday. We didn't change but they have lifted Fuel charge so it reduced it by $110.00. We are still in Cat 11. Our cabin is two doors down from Joanne and Roger.

You might want to call the cruise Lines to get the credit. They are going to send us a corrected bill - $110.00
I guess it doesn't matter much because we will be calling back and changing to points anyway. Got the points might as well use them.

We booked ours using points and had to pay the $ 110 in cash so they will add to on board credit.

Glad they are still going! I hope we can as well, but we had some damage in the last storm that may end up not being an insurance claim (if they say it was part of the house aging that caused the leaking) so we may have to cancel. It is more important to me to take our kids somewhere this year, because we could not coordinate schedules to do that last year. I don't know that we have funds to do both our cruise and a family thing after fixing the house - just depends.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Everyone! I hope all are well! We are still dealing with some sort of short in the phone line. It comes and goes. Of course all the holes are still there. We have had days of rain now, and while I don't mean to complain, we are so tired of it and tired of wondering if we are going to come home to wet rafters in the attic or water dripping again. Ugh.

Tomorrow starts spring break! Yeah! Sunday we will see Kamy and Steve. Have a good Friday everyone!

Just stopping by to say hi to everyone. Sorry to hear that some of you cancelled your cruise or switched to others.

Remember that each group is different and it is hard to recapture some of those special feelings and moments that happen. SSMC08 was a very special group and will always be near and dear to me. Even if we won't see each other in person in the near future we can all still connect here.

In fact I still correspond with people that we first sailed with in 2004 and we are sailing with one family this September and a number of the families next July.

This small little part of the web known as SSMC08 part 3 is our own little corner of the world to share things with each other.

Hey Mary! Good to see you here. It is interesting how the different groups have different temperaments. Not that I would expect them to be the same, but Mack and I got very spoiled with the SSMC08 group. We have often discussed whether it was the group of people or the fact that the majority of us were DVC owners thus a Disney affinity that not everyone shares. We always say it must be some of both. For those of you who have cruised DCL several times, and especially if you have done member cruises and regular ones, do you find the member cruises tend to have a different "flavor" because of that affinity for Disney?

I would like to see our old group get together maybe in 2011 on the new ship.

It is a different feel on the member cruise, the crowd is older and less kids. The regular ones have ports to visit and more stuff to do on board.

Agreed. So, of course, we have to do both!!!! Guess what everybody - JoanneL and Ehagerty are both going on the May 23 Magic. Spotted her on that thread's disboard meet.

I reboooked while onboard, before I knew about the October bash - wouldn't have changed things though, as we this is our family thing and we needed to optimize price and schedule around 2 college-age sons.

In any case, maybe we'll get to "gel" in a "mini-DVC" mode somehow - although without Mark & Mary's organization and and the enthusiasm of all the others - and particularly, the blessing of having Fr Frank with us for Mass and good cheer - it won't be the same!!

Well, Dan - winter in Buffalo is winter in Buffalo. This winter was not particularly exceptional in any way - no "several inches of wet snow on fully leafed branches" - October 13, 2006 pruning thousands of trees - many at trunk level

http://ehagerty.zenfolio.com/img/v3/p553062190-3.jpg

and just when you didn't think there could be any more branches or trees snapping, a bad windstorm, followed a couple of months later by an ice storm that continued to drop branches

http://ehagerty.zenfolio.com/img/v3/p472176584-3.jpg

Well, we had NONE of that this year. Not even any snow days.

So, I'd say "pretty good" this year. And it is over.

Yes, it would be great to have an 08 reunion tour!

I am just emerging from the busy-ness of Holy Week. All went very well, particularly the music with our new, incredible music director. With Kathy and my parents here in CT for Easter Sunday, it was a great day.

I got a call last week from DVC that they are sending out the Mickey big figs that people adding on on the Member Cruise are getting. I am expecting it sometime this week or early next. I will let you know. I am pretty excited about it, but have no idea where I am going to put it. Leisha, did you hear from them too?

Ellen, so good to hear from you. I am hoping along with Kathy that we all might be able to reconnect on the Disney Dream in 2011.

I am counting the days until my next trip in October (192) and seeing some of you on the day you get back from the cruise!

I am glad things went well last week. Tell Kathy Hi! I miss hearing from her every day. I got a call on Monday about ours. I can not wait to see Mickey. I have a spot all ready for him. Tommy and I have been talking about doing the repositioning cruise for the Wonder in 2011. It should be in Jan or Feb which will work great for Tommy. We will miss you all on the cruise but look forward to seeing you for a little while on that Sat. You and Kathy decide where we will meet for lunch that day. Take care:hug:

HI Frank
I would love to see our 2008 Members Cruise group reunite on the 2011 Dream. I think we have and had a very special group.

I would love to see this as well or maybe wait till 2012 - give it time to get the kinks worked out. We should definitely have a reunion cruise!

Hi Member Cruisers! Just thought I would pop in and ask if anyone else who added on the last cruise was surprised at how "HUGE" the Mickey statue is?!? At least it looks much bigger in my house than it did on the ship. The family really likes but now to find it just the right place here.

AnneMarie - how's the bus group coming along - do we have enough people? This thread seems to have taken a big break so I thought maybe a question would help it come back to life.
