Welcome back from your 25th anniversary trip. Hope you had a wonderful time. I know it's been a trying time for you and your family. Too bad you had to come back to a flooded basement. I know your pain. We here in NW Indiana are battling the same. I'm looking forwarded to sunny skies and your food reviews. Are you planning on a trip report. Would love to hear more. Go CUBBIES!!! :) :) :)

Thanks everyone for your interest (and yes, lynn46356--GO CUBBIES and yes I did a trip report under the resort thread). Here is the first review. I did take some pictures...they aren't great, but they will have to do.
Le Cellier -- Dinner on Friday evening, September 5
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/25thanniversarytrip--LeCellier.jpg
We had raved about LeCellier for months to our friends, Shelley and Tom, and LeCellier did NOT let us down or disappoint. It was definitely the best meal of the trip. We all had the cheddar cheese soup for an appetizer.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/25thanniversary--cheddarcheesesoup.jpg
Shelley and Tom fell in love with it (in fact, when Shelley got home--they left earlier than us--she researched and found the receipe). The pretzel bread was a big hit, although I really like the sourdough bread.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/25thanniversarytrip--breadbasket.jpg
Shelley had the New York Strip Steak with Roasted Yukon Potatos.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/25thanniversarytrip--NewYorkStrip.jpg
Tom had the Prime Rib with Roasted Yukon Potatos.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/25thanniversarytrip--primerib.jpg
Shelley and Tom said it was a terrific meal--both were able to cut their meat with just a fork--it was that tender.
Mark and I both had the Mushroom Filet (me, minus the mushrooms--don't like mushrooms) with the cream cheese mashed potatos (yes, they substituted without any problem. The filets were tender, cooked to perfection without a piece of fat and just delicious. Tom who hates cream cheese tried my potatos not knowing what they were and kept trying to steal them the rest of the night.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/25thanniversarytrip--mushroomfilet.jpg
I had my favorite Disney dessert--Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/25thanniversary--chocolateonchocola.jpg
The other three had the Chocolate Moose.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/25thanniversarytrip--chocolatemoose.jpg
We all loved our dessert and literally licked our plates clean. Shelley was given a Where Dreams Come True Certificate for her birthday as were we for our 25th anniversary. ALL of the CM's signed it. LeCellier continues to be a must do for us every trip.

Review #2 -- Yak & Yeti Dinner on Wednesday, September 3 --
I was a little leary of this place as I had read mixed reviews, but DH really likes this type of food so I reserved it for him. If it had not been for LeCellier, it could have taken first place--the food was that good. DH had a Safari Amber Ale Beer and it was quite tasty (I took a few sips and am not a big beer drinker, but I liked it). Shelley and Tom had the Shaoling Steak & Shrimp with stir fried vegetables to which they gave two thumbs up (I tried the steak and it was outstanding).
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1630.jpg
DH had the Duck with Anadapur Glaze with jasmine rice and stir fried vegetables and cleaned his plate.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1632.jpg
I had the Sweet/Sour Pork with white rice and stir fried vegetables (I ate it all and wished there had been more of the pork as I did not eat the vegetables--not a big vegetable eater and definitely not stir fried vegetables).
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1633.jpg
We ordered two Mango Pies and two Chocolate Brownie Sundaes--we had three of them boxed up as we were all full because of the huge portions.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1637.jpg
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1638.jpg
Everyone really enjoyed their meals and thought they were very tasty. The service was out of this world. I made a comment that I wanted a Mickey plate like the little girls at the table next to us had and they brought me one because they thought it would make my day more magical. :goodvibes

No, we didn't. The only place we ordered appetizers was LeCellier because we HAD to have the soup and Mama Melrose because it came with the Fantasmic Package. I was really surprised with how much we did enjoy Yak & Yeti and can't wait to go back next year.

Happy Anniversary and welcome back! Thanks so much for your dining report, looking forward to reading more!
It looks like they gave you two pretzel breads in your bread basket at Le Cellier, do they do that automatically since its so popular?
Hope you had a wonderful time, so far, it looks like you had wonderful food!

I'm not sure why they gave us two pretzel breads (but we also had two sourdough), but it was a big hit at our table and they brought us a second round.
We did have a great time (I did a trip report under the resort thread--we stayed at the CSR). The food overall was terrific--only one really bad meal.

Okay, one more review for the night and then will add more as I can.
Fulton's -- Saturday, September 6
Fulton's has been one of our favorite places to dine. Since it is not on the dining plan, we have not been in four years. But since we were celebrating our 25th anniversary and it was the first Disney restaurant DH ever took me to, we chose it as our "special 25th anniversary dinner."
We started out with Shelley and I ordering the Clam Chowder Soup (she shared hers with her DH).
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1719.jpg
My DH had a ceasar salad with those little fishies on it (ugh).
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1718.jpg
Both appetizers were very good.
Tom and I both had the Alaskan King Crab Claws which were heavenly. They came with boiled red potatos which I gave to DH because I'm not crazy about them (he gave me his baked potato in exchange).
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1720.jpg
Shelley had the Grilled Shrimp with suateed brococolini which she devoured.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1721.jpg
DH had the Grilled Tiaplia which was a special with the baked potato. Mark had had tiaplia on many occasions and said this was one of the tastiest.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1722.jpg
Shelley and Tom had the chocolate cake for dessert--they said it was rather dry.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1727.jpg
Mark ordered the Key Lime Pie--he said he has definitely had better.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1726.jpg
I was too full to order dessert, but they did bring a smaller piece of the chocolate cake and wrote Happy Anniversary on the plate in chocolate sauce (I agree--the cake was rather dry).
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1725.jpg
If it weren't for the desserts, Fulton's probably would have been 2nd on our list rather than 3rd. But all in all, we really enjoyed our meal and the service was absolutely top notch and the place was very clean.

They ought to for the the price--outrageous--but oh so good! It was worth the splurge for our special dinner (and they are twenty times better than anything I've ever had at Red Lobster).

Next up on the list, #4 -- Crystal Palace for Breakfast on Thursday, September 4
This is our all time favorite Character Meal and it remains that way. Sorry...forgot to take pictures of the food, but I did take a picture of our decorated table. As always, the puffed french toast was outstanding, the made-to-order omelets very good, the potato casserole so good I had three helpings. The only thing I didn't care for this trip was the bacon--I like mine crisp and this was nowhere near crisp.
Great character interaction as always--we saw all four characters and Tigger actually came to the table twice...the second time when they sang Happy Birthday to Shelley and Happy Anniversary to us. Got birthday/anniversary certificate signed by all the characters.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1663.jpg
#5 on the list -- Plaza Restaurant -- September 9 for lunch on the day of our departure.
After all the "heavy" meals we ate on the trip, we really enjoy going here for the quaintness of the place and the simple food.
DH had the Plaza Club Sandwich with German Potato Salad which he devoured.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/DSC04324.jpg
I had the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger with french fries which was cooked to perfection.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/DSC04325.jpg
Both meals were huge so we shared a dessert. We had the Hot Fudge Sundae and fought for the Hot Fudge on the bottom of the dish.

#6 -- Mama Melrose -- night of arrival -- Monday, September 1 (with Fantasmic Package)
The last two years, Mama Melrose has been higher on our list, but I was a little disappointed this year. I think part of it was that we were all tired from our very early morning flights and we were hot from taking a tour of the resort and sitting through the Indiana Jones Show before we went in for dinner.
Shelley and I had the calamari for our appetizer (sorry...took the picture after we both had been into our portions). It was a little different calamari than I remember--way too many peppers for me. But the calamari itself was pretty good.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1485.jpg
DH had the ceasar salad as did Tom.
Shelley and I both had the Four Cheese Flatbread Pizza. It just wasn't as good this year as the last two times I had it. Like I said, don't know if it was because we were tired, but it just seemed different this year.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1487.jpg
Tom had the Spaghetti Fra Diavolo which he really liked a LOT. For some reason, I forgot to take a picture of his meal.
DH had the Pork Marsala and he really liked it a lot. He gave me a piece of the meat and it was very tender and tasty.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1486.jpg
Shelley had the Creme Lemone for dessert.
Tom and DH had the Chocolate Gelato.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1488.jpg
I had the Chocolate Truffle Cake--very tasty.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1489.jpg
I am sure we'll go back next year just because the options are very few at the Studios. We refuse to go to Hollywood & Vine after two terrible experiences with service and TERRIBLE food and we just don't think Brown Derby is worth two credits.

You know it! Get this, I made a very early dinner reservation so I can get up close and personal with the food pictures! ;) Seriously I did an early ressie so I can make it to Epcot and see Jon Secada....I was head over heels for him in 91 and I need to relive my youth.

Okay...here goes. I'm going to try to do the last three table service meals we had (if the phone will stop ringing for a while here at home).
#7 -- Rose & Crown for lunch on Tuesday, September 2
DH and I really have liked this restaurant over the years. This year, we weren't quite as happy with it. Perhaps it is just getting to be a "rut" with us, but after eating we had wished we had gone to Biergarten instead. Shelley wondered why the Fish & Chips was "french fries" and not "chips". She asked our server and she didn't know. But the more I thought of it, it is kind of weird. Anyway, here is what we had:
Shelley, Tom and I all had the Fish & Chips (or french fries if you will). The fish seemed a lot greasier this year than it ever has before.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1534.jpg
DH had the Ploughman's Lunch, along with a Guiness Beer on Draft. He really enjoyed his lunch a lot.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1535.jpg
For dessert, Tom and I had the Chocolate Scotch Cake (Tom and I usually ordered the chocolate dessert  ).
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1536.jpg
Mark and Shelley had the Warm Apple Crumble.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1537.jpg
The food was okay, but not great. We probably won't go back next year. The service, however, was outstanding.
#8 -- Cape May Cafe for breakfast on Wednesday, September 3
Sorry, MickeyNicki. We just didn't care for this one as much as we do Crystal Palace. I don't know if it is because we didn't get there until 10:00 and the pickings were slim, or we are just so fond of CP that we won't give any other place an inch. My DH did like the Grits a lot, but I just found the choices to be slimmer than they are at CP. It also took the characters forever to get to our table. We saw Goofy and Dale right off, but it took a long time for Chip to come and then we sat around another 20 minutes after we finished eating waiting for Minnie. I will say we had great service--close to the best we had the entire trip. Our waitress was wonderful--fun, warm and friendly. We told her we were from Chicago and she asked if we could send her fresh Garrett popcorn from Michigan Avenue. She brought a birthday cupcake for Shelley and one to DH and I for our anniversary and made a huge announcement that there was extra reasons that morning to celebrate. She really was very good. I forgot to take pictures here except for Minnie and us and Shelley's cupcake.
http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb136/Luvwrestling/IMG_1590.jpg
#9 -- Whispering Canyon Cafe -- Monday, September 8 for dinner
After all the hype about this restaurant, DH and I were VERY disappointed. First, we waited 30 minutes for our ADR time. Once we were seated, we were put out in the back in the hall by Artist Pointe away from all the action (and there were at least three tables in the main area that we saw open). We had a waitress who we are guessing was new so I'll give her a little slack. But she was extremely slow in everything she did. It took 10 minutes to get our drinks; then 10 more minutes before she took our order; another 10 after our salad to get our main course and another 10 to get our check (we decided to skip the dessert). The only "fun" thing she did was throw the straws at us and she kept telling one table to be quiet because her "friend" was on his cell phone talking at one of the other tables. We never heard anything about the "ketchup" and heard the Pony race go once. We shared the skillet and it was mediocre at best. First, I don't like cornbread so didn't eat that. Didn't like the dressing on the salad at all. I did like the corn on the cob, but DH didn't taste it because he was eating the cole slaw which he said was so-so. The ribs were terrible--cold and fatty, DH said the chicken was just all right. The best part of the entire meal was the pulled pork. We did both love the chocolate shakes.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes and I'm glad you are enjoying the reviews. I love what Crystal Palace does for special occasions on the tables. They did this for my birthday last year too with the confetti and I collected it into a plastic baggie and passed it out to little girls and boys while waiting in lines for attractions when it seemed as if they were having a "bad moment"--it always brought a smile to their faces.

I am bummed that you didnt enjoy Cape May but to be honest I feel felt the same way when we went to Cape May in Oct and had a 10am ressie....we usually book 8am and see all the characters twice and have great food but that one time missed its mark. Do you remember if the yogurt bar had fresh berries? The last 2 times we went they did not have the raspberries, blueberries and blackberries and I was totally bummed out.
We were tossing around Rose and Crown for our April trip but I think we need to toss it out :thumbsup2
Now I dont know what to do about Whispering Canyon, I booked a dinner there for our January trip with our nieces...I thought they would get a huge kick out of the antics but if the food was blech then I need to think of something else....any suggestions?

I don't remember seeing any fresh berries at the yogurt bar. DH was unhappy with the bagels because they were those "mini" ones and he likes a full bagel. I would skip Rose & Crown and maybe do Biergarten?
I don't know what else to suggest for Whispering Canyon. I know you guys really liked Spoodles...maybe go back there. We are definitely trying that next year based on your recommendations.

Great reviews and pics. Portions look big and some nice presentation as well. At least you had some good service at some places.
About WCC, I have read several reviews like yours which is why we changed ours to BOMA. I think I was going more for the interaction than the food.
Looking forward to your CS reviews as well.

Happy belated Anniversary! I read your CSR review - congrats on the room upgrade! :thumbsup2 I am enjoying your reviews immensely and am excited for our upcoming anniversary trip (13 days and we'll be there!)
I just wanted to explain the chips at the Rose and Crown:
Shelley wondered why the Fish & Chips was "french fries" and not "chips". She asked our server and she didn't know. But the more I thought of it, it is kind of weird.
In the U.K. french fries are referred to as 'chips' and potato chips are referred to as 'crisps'.

In the U.K. french fries are referred to as 'chips' and potato chips are referred to as 'crisps'.
:)
Thank you...glad you are enjoying the reviews. And thank you for the explanation between fries and chips...nice to know.
Have a great anniversary trip with lots of pixie dust. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Congratulations on your 25th wedding anniversary!
Thank you for your reviews and your pictures. Your pictures answered a question for me..........albeit not with the answer I wanted. DH really wanted to order the brownie sundae for dessert at Yak and Yeti, but he is deathly allergic to nuts. Your pictures clearly show that there definitely are nuts, so I guess he'll be ordering something else :sad1: !

I found it!!!
Love the reviews, I am really hungry now.
I love Cape May but have to agree Crystal Palace has more variety.
Plaza Inn is a favorite of ours, I am so glad to see a review, I hardly ever do.
I have seen so many bad reviews of WCC lately, so glad I skipped that one in June.
I love you and Mark in your Pooh shirts at Crystal Palace, you guys are such a neat couple.
Thanks for posting and the pictures, that's a lot of work and detail!

I hate nuts--so I didn't eat mine--I tried eating around them--but boring. I just got popcorn on the way out! popcorn::

Thanks, Amy. Glad you liked reviews and pictures. Yep, all four of us wore the Pooh shirts and then Mark and I had Dumbo shirts for just the two of us for our 25th--they were really neat.

Thanks I have really enjoyed your reviews :thumbsup2
As stated here in the UK chips' are deep fried pototoes similar to your fries however proper fish and chips require the 'chips' to be nice and thick rather than thin fries;)

of course served with lashings of salt and vinegar;)

Awesome reviews, love the pics, I made an ADR for Cape May this trip never ate there before, oh well guess we will have to try it. Our ADR is for 800 so we may be ok either that or I was going to try for 1900 park faire just not sure what we are doing yet that day.

Thanks, Mark--you are very sweet. We really did have a good time despite the circumstances.
You're photos and reviews were outstanding! I've tried to take digi photos in the darker restaurants and they just don't seem to come out right. Your's were fantastic, and made me very hungry! Thanks for taking the time to tempt us all:thumbsup2.
