I'm considering a Disney Cruise for November 2003 as part of our trip to WDW.

I have some reservations though, as I am partially deaf and wear a hearing aid.

Is there anyone out there who has a hearing loss and has been on a cruise? I would love to hear your experiences.

Did you get any interference from the Ship ie beeping in your hearing aids?

Are there any reflective captions or such available for the shows?

Are deaf kits available for the cabins as they are for hotel rooms at WDW?

Sorry for so many questions. Just hoping that someone can give me some help and advice on this!

Thanks :D

"Assistive listening systems are available in the main theaters and show rooms. Closed captioning is available for stateroom televisions and selected onboard video monitors. American sign language interpretation is available for live performances on designated cruise dates. Stateroom communication kits containing door knock and phone alerts, phone amplifier, bed shaker notification, a strobe light smoke detector, and a text typewriter (TTY) are available."

Also, call DCL directly. I am sure they can answer all your questions. When we sailed on 2/23/02 there was a contestant the game show "Match your Mate" that had partial hearing loss (he told the audience). I do not know the extent of his hearing loss, but he seemed to be doing fine. The game show host just made sure he spoke close to him.

We have had the alarm kit for my son who is deaf, but we always seem to miss the designated cruises with an interpreter. :(

A Medical Clearance form must be sent in to DCL before getting the "kits" too.

Have a great time!
