Well, we are thinking summer of 2010, just not August:confused3
DH was saying that he doesn't think he can wait that long though so it may wind up being sooner:laughing:
The Baltic sounds cool:cool1:
Hawaii would be better, but I know I heard that Hawaii was not likely because of a requirement to stop in a foreign port:confused3
As long as I'm on the boat with the people I care about I don't really care where we go;)
I would love to cruise with the EXACT same group that I cruised Panama Canal with:lmao: Yes, I know that isn't likely:rolleyes:, but I'll settle for a lot of the same group:woohoo:

Not Sure - plan to decide after the BIG announcement
Where do you hope to go?
I would love to go to Russia
Who would you love to cruise with ?
On the new Disney ship with all the awesome people that I met on the EB Repo cruise
I have already put the bug in DH's in about the Baltic...let's put it this way, he didn't say yes, but he didn't say no either :rolleyes1.

When do you expect to cruise? sometime in 2010 - I'd rather do Spring Break-ish than summer
Where do you hope to go? If they do Aruba & Cartagena again, I'm there
Who would you love to cruise with ? Most of the pirates, all of my friends...ya know who ya are.
:squirrel: Love the squirrel Lisa!
So, what imaginary category did everyone book on the imaginary cruise. We booked 2 Cat 9's. One for us, one for our imaginary friends.

When do you expect to cruise?
We're anxiously waiting to see the itineraries when they're announce for summer 2010.
Where do you hope to go?
We love the rumored ports for the Baltic cruises! St Petersburg Russia would be fantastic. Those of you who met my Nicky know that he looks and sounds like he's from Norway, so I think Oslo would be fun, plus the scenery should be breathtaking. I'd also like to see Copenhagen. If we go, it will be our first trip to Europe, so I think a whirlwind tour of some highlights will give us an idea of places that we want to go back to and explore for a longer trip.
We'd love to be able to do a back to back Baltic and the TA repo, but even if we could afford the money, I know I can't get that much time off from work.
Who would you love to cruise with ?
All of the fantastic friends that we made on the EB Repo, and all of the new ones that we'll make between now and the cruise.

We booked an imaginary cat 6 and an imaginary cat 11. And we booked two sets too. (We figured if we can imagine being on this cruise, we can double imagine that we're on it twice!;) ) Although if we do the Baltic, we'll probably change to a real set of connecting cat 10's.
And you know if they do an Aruba (or Bonaire or Curaco) and Cartegena cruise that we'll be on that in an instant!

this thread cracks me up! We didn't book the 12/5/09 date...but picked a dummy date of of 6/27/09 for the 7 night Western, just in case we actually wanted to take the cruise. We did a cat 5 deck 7 and a cat 11 across from it. Other's in our family also booked this one.
I really have no idea what we will book for 2010. The Baltic sounds interesting, although if the prices run like the Med did, the airfare will kill us. I haven't done my geography homework, so I need to see what is around there.
Heck I'd be happy doing a 7 day back to back Eastern/Western, or a 7 and a 5 dayer around the Caribbean, since we have only done the 4 day Wonder out of FL. So 90% of the ports would be new to us. I wish they would do a 5 day Castaway sailing....where you get off the ship during the day and get back on to sleep.
So as you can see.......we have no idea! Can't wait for 10/7!

Hey! We're imaginarily crusin' with you!
Like everyone we're waiting on the 2010 annoucements.
2009 is a no-go for us. We've got a summer wedding, have promised the boyz Yellowstone (good thing the wedding is in Idaho!), and if we get this new house will be living on beans and weenies for months.
2010 is doable though - and it'd be really hard to say no to a Baltic trip. I've been to Helsinki, Copenhagen, and St Petersburg (was Leningrad at the time) and all are lovely destinations.

The important questions:
When do you expect to cruise? When is so up in the air for us right now. Lots of choices. We booked two dummy cruises - the July09 Tortola and the Dec09 one. With the intent of moving one to 2010 and one to one of the new ships. 2010 is our 20th anniversary - would love to talk DSis into staying with the kids, so Ken and I could do a 7 day or a 4 day DCL and 3 day land around October 6 (our anniv.). However, the 2010 possible plans sound really tempting - but airfare is a huge concern when it's x4.
Where do you hope to go? Would go to Alaska with DCL in a heart beat - DH is even so there. As we've only been to Aruba/Nassau/Cartagena in the Caribbean - most of that is a huge possibility as well. Mexican Riveria - I could take it or leave it - only if it was on the way to somewhere else.
Who would you love to cruise with ? Any of the pirates of course! Still so many I would love to meet and spend more time chatting with.

where do we want to cruise...... I haven't given it one bit of thought. Dh loves places with clear, blue water. And next time he hopes to have a dive partner -- either 10ds or 17dd.
I just have to have a few good *city tours*. ;) And I'm good to go!:thumbsup2
We don't have a dummy cruise booked -- you don't get the discounts on suites so, there was no reason for them to have any of my money until we are going. ;)
I did book a WDW trip for next Fall. We can't fit in a time before then. :sad2: Although we do need to figure somethig out for Samantha.... she turns 18 at the end of March..... she would rather do a DCL before she officially turned 18....... She has always met great kids in the Stack/Aloft. She still keeps in touch with kids from our past DCL cruises -- we've done 4 since October 2005. Why did it take so long for DH to convince me to go??? :confused3 I was the hold up all those years!

K -- did I tell you that 10ds thinks you have *cool hair*? That is like the biggest compliment he gives anyone! LOL! He never leaves the house/stateroom with making sure his hair is fixed just right! LOL!
When we were on our way to Walmart (in PV) 10ds gave dh & I a list of different brand gels to look for *Don't even bother if you don't find one of these.*
He is so not like me! :rotfl2:

We have had 7 inches of rain in less than 16 hours!!!
We are getting more rain tomorrow and than rain on Tuesday from Ike. It did not rain the entire 17 days I was gone so maybe the neighbors should pitch in for just sending John and away cruising all year long.:yay: :lmao: :yay:
Hey Cheryl, we are getting it too. Maybe we will have another cruise if this keeps!
Chaperoning going well. Getting to know the other parents. Kids have practiced twice for about 3 hours and swam for 2 hours.
So be good. I've got free wireless here at the HI in scenic Southgate MI overloking the scenic brick wall! :rotfl2:

Where do you hope to go? All depends on the announcement. Kids will be old enough to appreciate Europe. My first pick would be another southern Caribbean.
Who would you love to cruise with ? Yall of course (man now I am sounding like Coral).

Everytime I see y'all say that you would love to cruise to Aruba again I think *They should add St Lucia to the mix*. The islands are close together so it would be really easy.....
We went to St Lucia on the 10nt and it was dh's favorite island. He loved the snokelling......
Aruba, Barbados, St Lucia....all islands that Disney has gone to before and they are spectacular!
Barbados did the same type of entertainment for us that Catagena did for us.
We have been there twice; both times with DCL and I would also love to go back again either on DCL or for a week (at least) vacation. It is my favorite island too. It is just sooo beautiful.

I need a job so we can start re-stocking the Table 59 Wine Cellar!
M. may be losing that extra cabin soon.
:rotfl2: Think we could ask for Table 59 again?
Turns out my co-workers actually did follow my blog. They said they figured it stopped about the time I got onboard and started drinking.
Um... Well.... Yeah. :rolleyes1
So now that I'm back would I please finish it?? They were enjoying it. And hurry up before you forget everything!
Since I came back to find myself re-orged out of a position, I certainly have time one my hands right now. Fortunately, my job isn't at stake - the question is what I'll be doing going forward.

The important questions:
When do you expect to cruise?
I think this would be a wonderful experience too Mike, but like you, can't see Kevin getting the time off.

I resemble that remark. :rotfl2:
I would LOVE to go to the Baltic in 2010! I have wanted to go to the Panama Canal and Russia for years. Y'all (;) ) know how the PC thing worked out. Now I need to go to Russia.
After all, somehow I had over $2,000 left over from the PC cruise. Not sure how that happened. I think it was my spa budget but after ending up in severe pain (note to self- NEVER get a massage from a beefy guy- always chose the wimpiest girl) I decided not to give the spa any more of my $$$. My Dad also paid for stuff I was budgeting for. Gotta love Dad's.
I think this cruise would be w/out my parents since they are going extensively through the rumored DCL cruise on their world cruise they start in January.
I would definitely want to cruise w/ you guys!!!! Maybe by then the girls will be old enough that Bill and I could do more night time festivities.

There's a plan... I can push the *save a few dollars on drinks for the day* to him. :rotfl:
Of course... I had 2 alcoholic drinks this cruise. Both at the CC deck party. The green or blue drinks. When I offered one to dh he told that you usually get what you pay for so he went to visit JoJo & Angel (his bartenders). :p That was ok. It left more of the free ones for Cheryl & I... And K....Who else was with us that day? :)

DH wants to know that if on the next cruise there can be a Hockey game instead of Rugby? ;)
But, he wouldn't give up any of his time at CC so, it would have to be a sea day! :rotfl:
Hopefully none of the rest of you have be the number *7*. He tells me all sports people have *their* number. I wouldn't know because I don't like to sweat. Not outdoors anyway.
You know we're game.
My fam has #57, #17, #80 & #70.
Hmmm.... maybe a few stacked DVC points..... Guess M can't play tho, she's not in THAT cult

Pricey Free Drinks.... but good ones....much better than the CC watered down ones.
But we can crash with someone, right???
Sure.... Actually what would be great is a few families chipping in points and getting a beach house or two at Vero perhaps.
There's sea turtles mate in July (i think).

Sea Turtles mating... I do not want to see any animal mate.....;) I see enough of that from our back porch -- we have a *pair* of squirrels that love to *play* next to our windows (the Family Room has a wall of windows -- no windoe treatments -- so, you can see everything! ).

Linda and I will hang with you Cheryl.
Wonder if they have any excursions with rope swings in the Baltic?
Thanks Mike.......
When do you expect to cruise? 2009 would be the soonest
Where do you hope to go? All depends on the announcement. Kids will be old enough to appreciate Europe. My first pick would be another southern Caribbean.
Who would you love to cruise with ? Yall of course (man now I am sounding like Coral).
"You All" is perfect Roger!!!:thumbsup2 Could I still be warm in the Baltic????:rolleyes1 I think we need to head South somewhere!!!:flower3:
Poor Cheryl. Mom always gets taken for granted.
"You guys" is the northern version of y'all.
Guys is gender neutral.Did I just add another DD to my family?:confused3  :yay:
Oh, I'm so stalking you & John too !!
Okay.........what were you and John talking about so intensely.;) The trip would not be a trip with out you Lisa.
Could you send some our way?? We havn't had rain since early June!
What if I bat my eyes and ask pretty please?
We did not have rain for three weeks while I was gone. :headache: Now we have water......water everywhere.............and not a drop to drink.:rolleyes1 The flooding was really horrible here.
Like we could ever hide from Cheryl!

Whoops...........I drank mine on the ship!!!:woohoo:
Just a dummy
What were you thinking........ leaving this open for someone to comment on this.
Cheryl- I plan on stalking the stalkers group:confused3
Maybe if we suggest the rope swing now, they will have it by the time we get there:idea:
One big stalker group going on a pretend ship....... to a pretend place.... and drinking pretend drinks!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:
That's right! You guys are so smaht!!!

We got another two inches today because of IKE today!!!:headache:
I would definitely want to cruise w/ you guys!!!! Maybe by then the girls will be old enough that Bill and I could do more night time festivities.
We sure did have fun in the evening......but I had a good time all day too!!:woohoo:

M, I thought you would like it! Hey Billy was the best offer I've had in years!:rotfl2: Besides I needed something new.
Got of question for those of you in the Baltimore/ DC area. Has anyone used the bus at BWI to get to the Greenbelt Metro station? I found out Saturday that dd's vocal workshop is being moved from Columbus Day weekend to another time because the director is haveing knee surgery. So we can go to my Capitol Page reunion. I was going to fly SWA into BWI and try that transportation. The hotel is at the South Metro station. Just wondered about the bus part?
Hope everyone is doing OK and is safe.

Sorry, Tina - I saw this lurking on my crackberry earlier today and forgot to respond. I don't think there is a "South" Metro station. I live close to the 'southest' station at Huntington.
I've never done the BWI bus, so I'm not sure how it works. I did take the train from B-more to Union Station in DC once. About a 45 minute-ish trip, no trauma.
Please let K & I know when you are coming. One of us may be able to be your taxi service, or at the very least we could all try to have a meal together. Are you brining Kaitlin with you?

The important questions:
When do you expect to cruise? I believe our 1st choice would be AUGUST ... or alternatively in the summer of 2010.
Where do you hope to go? We'd probably choose (in order of priority)
a) Another PC REPO
b) Southern Carib
c) Alaska
d) Hawaii
e) Baltic
f) Med
g) Transatlantic REPO
h) Another Eastern Carib sailing.
Who would you love to cruise with ? I'd love to have my in-laws and possibly one or more from my side of the family! And of course, as many of the 500+ wonderful DIS neighbors from the PC EBREPO of last August!

That looks great, but you have to find us some cheap airfare to London.
It's running in the low $800 range in February with United Roger.
That's not too bad I figure.
http://www.bugbog.com/images/main/china_travel_guide/hong_kong_travel_guide.jpg
Do you suppose anyone might be interested in joining Alicia and a girlfriend of hers' on a Girls Shopping trip to Hong Kong in (maybe) february of '09? They're planning it now and it's running about $1000 for air ... $1200 pp with a cheap hotel... and $1450 pp with a 5 star property. We might just burn hotel points for the stay though and make it airfare + incidentals only to go. I'm not entirely certain she'll do this - but she has my encouragement to go. If she goes she'll fly United and accrue 15,000 miles + 3,750 bonus miles. That's roughly 3/4 of a 48 state "saver" free flight award and 3/5 of the miles she needs to requalify as a "Premier" level frequent flyer.

As for DC thing..... What's the South Metro station? Never heard of it... Try another name or at least give us the color line that it is on.....
Depending on when you come in.... Actually supposedly NWA to Dulles has been cheaper for some peeps....
I might be able to pick y'all up.....
Yup we could or at least transfer alot to one person....or each person gets the ressie for a couple nights.
You guys are great! I wasn't angling for a ride. I looked it's Capitol South metro station on the blue-orange line. The hotel is the Capitol Hill Suites. I called them to see availability and price. I missed the cutoff for the $149 per night rate. The guys tells me Sat night is $626! :scared1: So I went on travelocity and got Fri-Sun nights for $750! Knew it wouldn't be cheap, but come on!
NWA is not cheap to anywhere it was double what our fare is on SWA! :scared1:

Yeah...
... the lowest fare appears to be LA to Heathrow on Northwest or KLM ... then a return on VIrgin Atlantic for $1293 on Orbitz. According to Kayak the fare history just emerged with many airlines... so we have a lot of opportunity for price fluctuation coming. I remember the days when you would see bargain fares into the UK for I believe $500 or so. I vaguely recall spending $700 something for my first flight into London and out of Paris roughly 18-19 years ago. I guess the prices of THOSE days are gone for ever eh?

Now this would be something that gets MY attention. However, what do you figure the odds are? You know they already do a time share on a cruise ship - it's on The World. They have a nifty little apartment (#715) with 1100 sq feet 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms offerred for $3.4M plus approximately 6% of that purchase price in annual maintenance fees & port charges.

Who - Family and friends from previous cruise. Mother-in-law is welcome (through gritted teeth) but I will NOT be changing from this cruise on this occasion. We would love to go to the Southern Caribbean again as well.
Interesting fact Steph, you were the very first American we ever heard face to face say "Y'all" - it was outside Treasure Ketch on the Wonder, I remember it so well.

Found it..................
When - Late August 2010 (after Alex's A'Level results).
Where - 1) TransAtlantic to UK or back combined with Northern Europe
2) Southern Caribbean
3) Alaska
Who - Family and friends from previous cruise. Mother-in-law is welcome (through gritted teeth) but I will NOT be changing from this cruise on this occasion. DS16 Alex will be 18 on this cruise and has asked for a stateroom on his own in case he wants to take a girlfriend. He can do what he wants if he's paying.
David
That would be my order but leave out Alaska totally. Give a good time as Arlene has free long distance to UK so we might just want to talk to Helen on the phone.:woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:
Only if she was drinking on the way down!
All kidding aside....

In the thread you will also see a couple of pics of Sandy's dgd that was born...9 months after the cruise (?). :goodvibes
I talked to Dawn (J & K Princess mom ?) on the Resort boards (I've talked to her several times in the last couple of years -- she also posted on my ABD thread!). She had a souvenir baby also - remember? Her's is a little boy.

Hi guys  Sounds like you had a fantastic cruise.
Was there a reason why you all booked 12/5/09? We booked for next September, but we would love to cruise with ya again. Cheryl would you consider the Baltic? I heard the temps are about 72 degrees that time of year.

Hi Karen:wave2: It is sooo nice you came to visit.  Are you thinking about joining us somewhere where ever DCL decides to sail in 2010.:confused3 The 12/05 is the dummy date the travel agent for disney on board decided for all of us who want to see what will be coming in 2010. I would even consider wearing a heavy winter coat to cruise with all these great people again.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Yes, I would consider the Baltic but I am waiting for October7 to come and let us all know what direction the Magic will be heading.:thumbsup2
Just ask Stephanie how great this cruise was.;) I had very high expectations and was not at all disappointed.:cheer2: :cheer2: How was your cruise??? :confused3
Say hi to Ed and join us on the unveiling of where this group might be headed in 2010. It would be nice to see you both again!!:flower3: I did get to see Helen, Alex and Bethany even for only a moment. :woohoo: :woohoo:

We booked the dummy cruise too, not knowing when we would be going. We figured we'd wait and see what 2010 offered and where the new ships were going.
The Baltic sounds wonderful. We had a foreign exchange student from Denmark for the school year about 5 years ago. It would be neat to see her again. We would also love something that would include England. Our biggest hope though is that DCL eventually goes to Alaska!
We will more than likely book a Baltic or repo (that depends on repo ports) just to get the price locked in. We can always cancel or change depending what is offered later! Of course going with you all again would be great! This time I'd get much more involved!

We're most definitely interested in a reunion cruise ... Ed and I have been talking up a storm about whether we would do Baltic or TA, we'd love to do both, or maybe the "Mystery Cruise". Can't wait until Oct 7 to find out our options. This time I will be up at 4am to make sure we get on the cruise of our choice.

Our cruise was wonderful, how could it be otherwise when travelling with Disney and the DIS. We did miss you and John at dinner though. :sad1: The 10 night will always hold a special place in our hearts

Sadly we did not run into David and Helen ... 5 nights is just toooo short :rolleyes1 We did see Helen accept the CC clock prize for David, and then suddenly she was gone.
We had one night of pretty rough seas, but we ended up just giggling a lot, as we walked from side to side down the hallways :rotfl: About 3 am one morning we both sat up straight in our bed, as the closet door slammed open and the light came on, and it sounded like a jack hammer was beating on the outside of the ship. Ed jammed a suitcase against the door and we just went back to sleep.
We talked with Brent later that day and asked him what all the noise was about, he said the captain was turning the ship around, and for a little while we were going against the waves instead of riding them. There were quite a few people who were pretty scared, but we were just enjoying the adventure.

Anyone up fer a freindly sprint to 1000?
< steady silent grinnin' >
Gee...
... it has grown quiet suddenly. Well... I was just passing through to look about. We skipped DL today on account of being a bit tired from yesterdays' beach BBQ we hosted (Saturday). We had 5 families on hand for a total of 16 souls. Being that schools started we had most of the beach to ourselves - and the temps were tolerably cool with a bit of a breeze. We made hot dogs, korean BBQ beef, curry chicken, BBQ Beef ribs (I made them and they were only so-so), plus salmon burgers. Here are a few pix:
http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/16/CF/90/i16CF9002-2D02-43EE-8FD7-22BF6C155A36.jpghttp://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/A4/DB/4F/iA4DB4FF6-80F6-4EEC-8215-E0AD8AFA37C2.jpg

So ... we did compromise and have dinner with about 15 friends and family tonite (Sunday). Over supper Alicia and a girlfriend of hers made tenative arrangements for them to join us on the Big Island in April... and possibly to take a girls shopping trip to Hong Kong ... without the spouses or kids. So tonite was spent investigating a few travel combinations of dates and hotel deals for Hong Kong.
Aside from that ... we're starting to develope the conversation with our friends and family for sailing/booking Disney in a few weeks ... for a 2010 sailing of some sort!
OK... I'm only semi-coherent.... it's late and time fer me to turn in. I'm beat from the past 2 days... plus the soccer games of saturday morning. Whew! Our 7 year old girls did fantastic scoring 6-1... while our little 4-5 year olds did so-so scoring 2 to 6. Oh well... time to turn in!
Cheers, and we hope your weeek to come is a perfectly pleasant one!

On another note...
if anyone is interested in a GPS unit for $99 that used to sell for $499 just a couple of years ago when it was introduced ... I just got another email offerring it again. I have not received my unit yet - but it sounds pretty good from one detailed review. The main points are it has a high resolution chipset for calculating it's position, plus it has a 4.3" screen ... and supports blue tooth hands free speakerphone operation. For a link to the $99 price try this link : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item_upsell.asp?EdpNo=3809079

http://www.gracemarkus.com/NCL_star.jpg
OK...
... We're thinking of cancelling that NCL cruise for January 3rd of 2009. My sister is gonna cancel because my auntie (her cabin mate) needs surgery then... and my brother is cancelling because of an inability to secure vacation time then + other complications. Plus the 5th family that was ready to book also side stepped it. DRAT! So my Dad and I remain booked and we are the most flexible too.
So... I just noticed that SAME NCL voyage from LA to Mexico is $500 cheaper if we were to take it October 25th to Nov 1st. I know... that's in about 33 days from now ... but then again ... since it's underselling with little time to sel out ... that is precisely what makes it cheap. The NCL Star is quoted as $299 per person on 1st 2 inside. 3rd and 4th are $199. All told ... lowest price on 2 in an inside cabin is $997... and 4 would be $1650. Add a window for $200.
http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00397/SNN0143A_682_397744a.jpg
Alternatively, we could switch from the 91,000 ton STAR (2001 launched) to the Princess Sapphire at 113,000 tons (2004).. for $1,105 for 2 inside or $1667 for 4 inside. No quad windows are available to book. NCL has windows and great locations on the ship... while the Sapphire has very few cabins with far forward or aft only available. We'd select aft cabins and deal with the engine noises over the heaving forward region of the ship. Other differences betwwen these two ships inlcude the time in port. The Sapphire totals 27 hours and good early docking times. The NCL Star totals 30 hours but some later docking times. A "push" if ya ask me given our probable plans ashore.
We did not do the zip line or horse back riding inpart because we knew we were scheduled to return in January. And the party we were with was not committed to do those things. I'm hoping we get back there in October now so we can do the zip line and horse back ride. My Dad won't zip line but maybe my step mother will ... and both will do horse back riding (I hope).
http://ambergrisvacation.com/images/zip_line_at_jaguar_paw.jpg
At any rate... I know many of us just left these ports... however .... some of us might be interested in doing it again (more likely next year or further out). Just wait for last minute disounts like they are now, eh? $299 pp + $199 sound awful cheap if ya ask me.
Alicia is still chafing at wiping her calandar for that week though. SO we may NOT end up going after all. IF not then we just might cancel cruising entirely til... gee... I don't know when if not the DCL voyages we're waiting to consider this Oct 7th.

You should go...33 days isn't bad! I just picked up our cruise docs for Oct 3rd! (I have no idea what I was thinking when I booked it last year) It's only a 3 day so that isn't bad but the thought of packing a suitcase again makes me a little sick to my stomach!

The important questions:
When do you expect to cruise?
I know it wont be 2009.. but definatley in 2010.. have to wait and see the itinerary...
Where do you hope to go? Any where MICKEY goes... and hopefully, Capt Tom..lol
Who would you love to cruise with ? Is there a group other than the PIRATES??? I am seriously hoping my 2 girlfriends from college.. The last time we went on a vacation was Fort Launderdale Spring Break 1985.. OMG i am shocked we made it home alive..lol and sad to say we were all nursing students..lol:laughing: :woohoo:

At any rate, I'm just waiting on Alicia's opinion now... and I know if no one else goes but my father and I .... then I'll be happy too. I was looking forward to sailing with my Dad anyways and it would give me a lot of time with my step mother and father.

... every now and then I get in the same mood Monica... it's the wandering nomad blood in me from somewhere from 700+ years into the past (maybe) when Genghis Kahn conquered much of the world. Well... actually ... my family was from Southern China and not the Steppes of Mongolia - as far as I know so maybe ... in my past my ancestors were pirates in the South China seas!

Maybe by then the girls will be old enough that Bill and I could do more night time festivities.
http://www.worldcruisewholesaler.com/WorldCruisePhotos/Orianasunset.jpg
Your parents are doing an AROUND THE WORLD CRUISE!?! That sounds sooooo cool! I would LOVE to do something like that. However, the only thing we might remotely examine is the less costly ones like HAL or Princess voyages. The Seabourn, Crystal or Regent voyages all run about $60,000 + pp for SUITES for 121 to 106 day voyages. A good value - no doubt. But HAL and Princess run $ $41,700 to $22,800 for verandah cabins (my 1st choice for such a voyage)... covering similar lengths of voyage. THe DIFFERENCE in cost between the "Luxury" ships and say a $22,800Princess ship is $37,000 pp that could be used for a lot of shore excursions and ship board expenses. Or put another way... the luxury ship round the world voyages will certainly run us near $100,000 per person after shore excursions and ship board expenses are tallied.
An EXCITING TOAL without any question when taken on ANY ship - even a working freightor if it were an option! Which I'm sure it might be.
http://www.cruiseweb.com/HAL-imagelibrary/rotterdam/EU02-02119-w600.jpg
This coming January 5th, 2009 the Rotterdam IV embarks from LA. It's 131 (117?*)days from LA to NYC. It seems a window cabin is $25,510 pp and a $41,709 pp for verandah. Gee... that sounds soooooo appealing. Ya figure... with a verandah it's only $318.38 per person per day for 4.25 MONTHS of genuine TOAL adventure! Get this... I count 65 (SIXTY-FIVE) sea days on this 131 (117?*) day tour! That naturally implies there are 66 (or 52?*) port calls! Now something like THAT is WORTH .. W-H-A-T-E-V-E-R it costs! Whew!
* I am uncertain as to if this is a 117 or 131 day voyage?
Holland America's Rotterdam was built expressly for world cruises, and in 2009 the ship embarks on its fifth circumnavigation. And, 2009 marks another significant milestone for Holland America: 50 years of "Grand World Cruising."
The Rotterdam's 2009 world cruise itinerary has been designed by Capt. Simon Douwes to feature the best of the best. It mixes classic, well-known cities with calls at unspoiled, lesser-known ports, offering guests unsurpassed opportunities to explore the world. Many ports feature extended stays.
The itinerary incorporates extensive research from previous grand voyages as well as the comments and suggestions of past world cruise guests. It encompasses 39 intriguing ports in 27 countries across five continents. The Rotterdam will cover more than 35,100 nautical miles as it sails through the Pacific Ocean to the Hawaiian Islands and then on to the South Pacific, Australia, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Cartagena, Colombia; Enter Panama Canal Cristobal; Exit Panama Canal Balboa; Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; Huatulco, Mexico; Acapulco, Mexico; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Los Angeles, California; Hilo, Hawaii; Honolulu, Oahu, United States; Funafuti, Tuvalu; Port Vila (Vanuatu); Noumea, New Caledonia; Ile De Pins, New Caledonia; Sydney, Australia; Melbourne, Australia; Adelaide, Australia; Perth (Fremantle), Australia; Lembar, Lombok, Indonesia; Slawi Bay, Komodo, Indonesia; Semarang, Indonesia; Crossing the Equator; Hong Kong, China; Shanghai, China; Nha Trang, Vietnam; Kemaman, Malaysia; Singapore; Phuket, Thailand; Cochin, India; Mumbai (Bombay), India; Dubai, U.A.E.; Muscat, Oman; Victoria, Seychelles; Mombasa, Kenya; Nosy Be, Madagascar; Mamoudzou, Mayotte; Maputo, Mozambique; Richard's Bay, South Africa; Durban, South Africa; Cape Town, South Africa; Luderitz, Namibia; Walvis Bay, Namibia; St Helena, United Kingdom; Georgetown, Ascension Island; Devil's Island, French Guiana; Port of Spain, Trinidad; Bridgetown, Barbados; Gustavia, St. Barts; New York, New York
Oh my!
http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/PandOCardsJPEGS/TahitianPrincess-01.jpg
Now look at THIS 117 day World cruise on Princesss' Tahitian Princess... window cabins are $21,534 pp and balcony cabins start at only $31,135 pp. That's $4,000 and $10,600 less PER PERSON comp[ared to HAL. The average daily cost per person in a window cabin is $184.05 pp! A verandah is only $266.11 per person! This voyage has 66 sea days ... and 51 port calls... beginning with Fort Lauderdale and heading WEST to conclude in Stockholm Sweeden. Whew!!!
Take the trip of a lifetime aboard Princess' Tahitian Princess and cruise for 117 days to the world's most fascinating cities and sights. See the famed Opera House in Sydney and immerse yourself in the exotic cultures of Asia and India. Later in your journey, you'll sail the Suez Canal, see the Acropolis in ancient Athens, and have an opportunity to take in splendid views of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Next, sparkling Scandinavian capitals await -- Copenhagen, Helsinki and Stockholm -- and you'll also see some of Russia's greatest treasures during a port call in St. Petersburg.
There's never a dull moment aboard the Tahitian Princess, and you'll have plenty of time to experience everything the ship has to offer as you travel the world. Indulge in an innovative face or body treatment at the spa, watch a culinary demonstration, or browse though the library and art gallery. After dinner in the traditional restaurant or one of the alternative dining venues, take in an elaborate stage production or kick up your heels in the disco. Tahitian Princess carries 688 passengers and has a high percentage of balcony cabins.
ANd look at THIS...
http://www.cruisediva.com/Pacific%20Princess%20IIc.JPG
Princesss' PACIFIC Princess embarks on January 27th (2010) for a 107 day voyage that concludes at Romes' port of Civitavecchia. Window cabins are 23,179 while verandah cabins start at only $26,529 pp. So a verandah works out with an average daily cost PP of $247.93! There are 64 sea days resulting in only 43 port calls... an awefully big difference compared to the longer Tahitian Princess voyage which costs a little more.
Come aboard the Pacific Princess in 2010 for its unique voyage around the world. The Pacific Princess offers an intimate and personalized cruising experience with less than 700 guests on board. In addition to a wide variety of activities, the ship provides sophisticated accommodations with all the comforts of home.
Setting sail from Fort Lauderdale, FL, on January 27, 2010, guests on this cruise will visit 30 fascinating countries in 107 exhilarating days. Sail through the Panama Canal en route to Central America and Mexico, where you can take a train to Topolobampo's Copper Canyon. Continue on through Fiji on your way to Australia and New Zealand to visit Ayers Rock, Alice Springs and the stunning Great Barrier Reef.
Next on the agenda is the exotic Far East where the Pacific Princess will make stops in Japan, China, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand and more. In China, take in historic sights such as Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall. As you sail on to India and the Middle East, view the breathtaking Taj Mahal and tour ancient Egypt's Luxor and Karnak. The last days of your memorable cruise will be spent in the Mediterranean. Experience beautiful Athens in Greece and Sorrento in southern Italy before the Pacific Princess makes its final stop in Civitavecchia, the port for Rome.
Oh BOY...
http://www.princess.com/images/learn/ships/royal_princess/rp_main.jpg
Princesss' Royal Princess sails on january 20th 2009 from Ft Lauderdale to Rome in 107 days. However the cabins run 19,928 for a window ... and only $22,796 for a verandah! That works out to $213.05 pp per day for a verandah! Or ... $186.24 pp for a window cabin. There are 62 sea days and obviously 45 port days. However the port rotation sounds truly marvelous!
Spend 107 days with Princess sailing to legendary destinations all over the world. You'll transit the Panama Canal, explore the landscapes of South America and spend time in the romantic islands of French Polynesia. After visits to New Zealand and Australia, travel to Asia and India for up-close looks at unique cultures. Round out your trip amid the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean. After experiencing such a wide range of destinations, you'll have lasting memories of unforgettable adventures.
The 688-passenger Royal Princess boasts an intimate atmosphere and a high level of personalized service. Scheduled entertainment and activities offer day-to-night diversions. Take a dip in the swimming pool, enjoy pampering treatments in the Lotus Spa, or take a yoga class. During the evening, try your luck in the casino or dance in the night club. You will have plenty of time to experience everything the ship has to offer. Or, simply relax in your stateroom: Royal Princess offers a high percentage of cabins with balconies so you can leisurely take in the world around you.
http://www.mycruiseplanner.net/PostPhotos/DCL4ShipsSmaller.jpg
I might add I know of other cruise lines doing world cruises - like Cunard with thier 3 "classes" of dining rooms divided by what/where you book your cabin... and I didn't mention/detail all of them as this was not really needed on a Disney thread. However... maybe the Disney Cruise execs are already planning to roll out a TRULY once in our lifetimes chance to sail with Disney around the world? Imagine that eh? This would go a long way tpwards silencing pundits like myself who gripe over the lack of port rotation variety.

Hi everyone!
I hope I'm allowed to jump in here..we also booked the dummy cruise...we weren't going to since I have no idea when we get to cruise again with DCL...but Laura and Cheryl talked us into it :)
Tina...love your sig line with Billy! :rotfl2: The other night I was watching TV and there was some clip about Ronn Lucas and all I could think about was "I want Tinaaaa!" :rotfl:
I will have to add the logo to my sig line. We were supposed to go to Alaska in 2010 but DH wants to see what they announce in October...
Have a great day!
I am happy for you!!:woohoo: I could not force myself to look at another suitcase for at least 6 months.
Stephanie was the first person we spoke to on the ship for the 10 Night Southern as I recognised her from the photo on the disboards.:)
If you are phoning the UK, any time before 3:30 in the afternoon would be good as I believe you are 6 hours behind us here in the UK. This allows conversation time.
I didn't talk to my mother-in-law for six years but we speak now.:rolleyes1
David
Lucky you on the MIL.:headache: We still do not speak to mine and hope it continues forever.
I will talk to Arlene. I have never even dialed long distance overseas.
I've just noticed; in that photo Alex is wearing his "I've pulled a princess" t-shirt.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Whilst you were all meeting up with Helen, Alex and Bethan (Cheryl and John also came out the same exit as you), I was sitting outside the other exit with all the cases as the porters hadn't started taking the next cruise cases at that point. Peter and Jack with their families came out the other exit though.:thumbsup2

I am so jealous Stephanie got a picture of your family. DCL screwed up our transfers(actually it was United but I did get $200 in vouchers again). I had to hurry because we did not have boarding passes and knew the line would be long at Orlando Airport. It was so nice to see how big both children have grown and to give Helen a big Hug. Promise no cancelling again if we all end up on the same cruise next time.:headache:
Talk about strict security in Orlando...they had to break off a one inch knife blade that came attached to John's little cork screw.:sad2: We had no problem in Chicago with it. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

It would be the thought of UNpacking a suitcase that would make me ill!
Anything to do with airlines doesn't not thrill me in the least at this moment. If I could just walk onto the ship - I'd be so there. Arlene - you are so lucky to be close to DCL.

See...........I have been warning Stphanie talks a lot!!!:lmao: :lmao:
I keep loooking at all the photos dreaming I was back on the ship with all of you.:cloud9: This is the first time in years I have no destinaltion planned for the next year(2009). After the beating up of the stock market..........I might not be able to go anywhere.:sad2:
I am happy for you!!:woohoo: I could not force myself to look at another suitcase for at least 6 months.
Lucky you on the MIL.:headache: We still do not speak to mine and hope it continues forever.
I will talk to Arlene. I have never even dialed long distance overseas.
Funny you should mention that! We had trouble with our rolls of quarters we brought to do the wash, both leaving Boston & also Orlando. In Boston they just asked what they were, but in Orlando they pullled Mike aside & the lady was not nice at all! She asked Mike what was in the carry-on & he very politely said just a couple of rolls of quarters & she snapped, "Well we can't tell what this stuff is!" Okay? :confused3 We also had a couple of our checked bags searched thanks to a lovely memo from the TSA. One of them was my bag filled with all the FE gifts. Somehow I'm not surprised! ;)

DH wants to know if anyone is serious about the Aruba trip....He is now interested.
He also now wants to get to know y'all. I told him to post like the rest of us then. ;)
Aruba -- I also looked at a couple of *all inclusives* for that timeframe..... around $1400 - $1600 pp. I think that was 4 nts.
We would love to return to Aruba. What were the dates being looked at?

Your parents are doing an AROUND THE WORLD CRUISE!?! .
LOL.....the ticking of your mind fascinates me!! And the visuals you give us are the best!

We had lovely TSA memo's too. And whats funny was one of them was in our FE & door magnet luggage. To tell you the truth...I would have no idea if anything was missing.
I realized a week after we got home that I could not find my watch and a bracelet. Then discovered I had not seen my entire jewelry bag since coming home. So we took all the luggage back down from the rafters, unbagged them and sure enough....wrapped all safe and sound in my quilted hanging organizer was my jewelry bag with my necklaces, bracelts and watches! LOL That was a relief.
Also, I really noticed our luggage got trounced during this trip...way more then normal. My beloved Pooh bear luggage had large pieces of plastic on the inside edges that was shattered, 1 handle strap broken off of my daughters new luggage, 1 front zippered pocket completely torn off on another and 1 pull handle broken.

Are we celebrating Mike's graduation in May in Aruba:confused3
Funny thing is that now when I start to relay things to him about what folks post, he tells me "I know, I read that already" He's been lurking a bit. I'm trying to get him to post too, but he already posts on a watch forum and an umpiring forum so he claims not to have the time:headache:

That sounds like what happened 2 yrs ago toour luggage. It looked like one piece had been run over -- there was a tire mark across the front..... A handle was off another one....2 had at least one zipper broke.....

The *all inclusive* price might have been for too many days/nts... I can't remember what dates I put in!
I don't know why dh doesn't post! I know for a fact that he read the thread the first year (when I only read a couple of times!!!) because he was always telling me what was going on or sending me links that y'all posted about different ports, etc....

Ok DS just came in and says it wasn't that he was shy- it was because he is on a different server:confused:

Dang....that figures. DS's wedding looks like it will be 5/16/09, so unless it is after that it would not be possible for us and I believe the following weekend is Memorial Day weekend. I will watching your continued plans about this, as I think it would be fun....and possibly replace our possible cruise in late April or early May.
