I'm new to this thread. Well , we are planning to have a cruise trip on the first month of 2010 but we don't really have plans yet if where to go. I love to be with my DH only but if my kids want to go, I kinda think it first. :lmao:

That's what I like about DCL. I get the best of both worlds. Alone time with my DH and time with the kids.

Too much time with either and they start to get on my nerves:rotfl:
Then I have cove cafe to go and be away from them just long enough to miss them:goodvibes

Do you ever wonder if the kids feel the opposite? I always wonder about mine...oh great...Mom and Dad are here again..:lmao:

It's amazing how much they like you when they need something ("Mom, ImissedyouIneedsome money/food/smoothies").

It's definitely that way with Taylor! She's 14 & wants nothing to do with us these days. But Cade only being 11 still loves going anywhere with us & he gets mad if we try to send him off with Taylor without us. That will change too I'm sure!

Elvis (11 in a few weeks) attaches himself to us and won't leave us ALONE! Everytime he went to the club he had fun BUT, I would have to force him to go!
One reason was he was very disappointed that none of the kids were wearing their lanyards -- he had met a few kids on the Dis that he was looking forward to meeting IRL. He wore his lanyard every day so that some one would notice what *group* he was with...... No one said a word -- excpet Todd's son (who is very young and decided to attach himself to Elvis whenever he was in the club. Elvis said he was a very nice little boy BUT, he really didn't want to hang out with a 7yr old all day.....)

After we got home and Elvis posted on the DIS....a couple of the kids were like *Yea, I sat next to you at the computers one afternoon.* :confused3
There were (i think) 2 kids that told him on the DIS *I wish I would have said something to you.* Elvis was like *Yea. So, do I!*
He did hang out sometimes in the Lab with a girl from the DIS -- her parents screen name excapes me at the moment.... Samantha had talked to her older sisters online ahead of time -- and even hunted them down in the terminal. ;) They hung out and had a great time.
Sam had met several of the girls *online* ahead of time and had a wonderful time with them the entire cruise. I know one of the girls was Jack's dd -- her friend Alex (Daipp's ds) that was supposed to be on the cruise had insisted that the 2 of them meet because he just knew those 2 girls would hit it off. ;)

Greetings.. to all..

I haven't been around in a long while but miss you all.. been busy with Kids and scouts and work..

we did move the cruise to a dummy date in 2010.. no way can we do 2009.. not with the market and job situation..I did have a computer switch so I lost all of my favorites including photos and chat.. if you do that, let me know...

I spilled oatmeal on my computer so it died and I got a huge lecture from IT director and a new laptop..

I am going to WDW in October for the ladies trip and in July with the family.. if anyone is gonna be there, let me know and we can meet for a snack, dinner, drink , chat etc....

Maybe gauze:confused3 I'm using a CPAP for sleep apnea now and when I don't want to wake up with red lines on my face I put some gauze under the straps.

It drives Jon crazy that I always have crumbs on my keyboard......I try to be careful...... Claire's computer area is the worst! For a girl who never seems to eat her computer and keyboard (and her entire desk!) is always covered in chip crumbs and cookie crumbs...... She sits between Jon & I in the office....heaven help us when she needs her dad's help on her computer....

We've been missing for a while, but just wanted to drop by to say hi. Hope you all had wonderful holidays. I think we're going through DCL withdrawls right now and are trying to figure out which cruise to book for this year, or maybe next. Hmmmm....so many choices. I'm wishing for the Transatlantic or maybe a Baltic, but we'll see.

Have a great evening!

Tell him *Congratulations!* Find some community theaters! Boys (that are good) are few and far between! LOL! Girls (that are good) are a dime a dozen!
It is a shame they didn't meet!
Dh has been talking to Elvis about taking some dance classes..... Dh really doesn't like theater stuff BUT, he told Elvis that if this is what he wants to do he had better do things to constantly improve his performance. ;)

Yes, it does. They are wonderful vacations but, the price can be scarey!

With ABD you have to factor in everything that the vacations are covering. Accomodation, quite a few meals, all your excursions, transportation. Quite a bargain when you factor that in, if you can afford it. We are looking at the Rome /Tuscany / Pompei ones as they would have the most interest for the kids. They would just be like a taste then we could go back another time. I'm a little leary to go on our own - too many logisitics I would have to figure out.

Looking at the cruise - cost is going to be about $20,000 min. by the time we factor in flights/excursions/exchange rate/etc. Not sure, we want to go that route just now. The one major draw back is only one sea day - the Med ones are Port intensive and I won't want to stay on the boat for a day off. We all like having the sea days. The REPO would be perfect - if only it wasn't in April/Sept for schooling. Both kids would be in highschool for the SEPT one - definite no go for pulling out for that length of time - no matter how educational it would be.

This is the same ABD that Jon & I are considering...... We have friends going on the other Italy one BUT, we REALLY want Rome. With out Rome we wouldn't even want to go to Italy. Jon went to Rome (pleasure trip) 2 yrs ago to *scout* it out for a family trip. We knew we had to wait for Claire to ge *bigger* -- not just older but, physically larger.

DH was saying that is cheaper to cruise DCL across the Atlantic than it was to fly across:rolleyes:
If it wasn't for school we would have gone for the Repo.
The Med looks great, but Italy is a place I've wanted to visit by land-too much for a cruise- at least for me.
The Baltic has 4 sea days-one at the beginning, one in the middle and 2 at the end. I think I'm going to be sleeping a lot on those last 2 sea days with all the walking in the ports:rotfl:

Thinking about it. Ken's Dad is from Sweden - do that is a draw. Plus, my family is from Scotland. The airfare is a killer though for us. Although, into London isn't so bad.

It's also our 20th wedding anniversary in the October - so thinking about just the two of us doing a 7 day then.

Too many choices......

Thanks. I'll have a look in a bit. I've been to Scotland and Ken has been to Sweden, so we have an idea of what we are going to. Talked to the kids tonight and they are not too keen on the Med because of it being Port intensive. I need to look into airfare to London.

We started with a 3-day.

Then a 4-day.

Then another 4-day.

Then a 7-day.

Then we did another 3-day (my parents' first cruise, so we did a short one.)

Then the 15 night TOAL!

Now we're booked on a 12-day.

After 15 and 12 days, it'll be hard to do another 7 day. I'm sure it will seem so short.

Huh I'm going on a 3 night cruise in August! Now that's short! And on a shorty (censored) little RCCL ship too! But suprisingly they're not bad, because you go knowing it's just a weekend trip so you pack as much scoffing, partying & drinking that you can in 3 days. No rest for the weary on that cruise! Plus it's the one time we don't bother with a balcony, because we are seriously in our room to change & pass out & that's about it. We get a connecting OV room with the kids & they get their own TV & bath & we feel like we're living large in a 2 room suite for only 1600.00 total! :rotfl:

Plus we're booking that 7 night Bermuda cruise on NCL out of NY in Aug/2010! I found an on-line agent that's charging 4300.00 for a mini-suite with balcony & a 300.00 OBC! Come on guys I know it's only 7 days, but the price is right & we already know each other so well so we'll get right down to paryting! Wouldn't it be great to plant us ourselves on a pink beach & hang together all day drinking Rum Swizzles!!! :beach: ::yes::

Yah. The 7 day Alaska RCI is going to be interesting. I can remember at one point while on the TOAL thinking that it was great we still had another whole week. :)

If we didn't have the cost of airfare and length of time to travel - we'd probably do some more 4 day's.

I remember comparing prices for spring break. A 7 day in a cat 6 in early December was about $5,000 and that same cabin, same cruise at spring break was $10,000:scared:

No kidding!!!! I wonder what dh's brother paid for a Cat 3 during Spring break...... If I'm paying that much I'm going to be cruising for longer then 7days! LOL!
We've only cruised during low seasons...... I price a lot of different weeks and then I pick which time of year we go by the price.... We love to travel but, I don't want to spend all of our travel money on one trip a year!!! LOL!

And the results of my recent Stress Test are back and it's not good....it was abnormal. So I now have surgery scheduled for Monday. He'll run a cath and if there's another blockage,he'll put in another stent. It's not the surgery that concerns me,it's more time off of work! No lifting or squatting for 6 weeks! :headache:

Wendy, I was thinking about that today. there are several people -- you included! -- that I enjoyed meeting on the cruise that aren't on Facebook. I know I want there to still be a place to *see* them. :goodvibes

I'll post here. :thumbsup2

My biggest updates......my brother has a PET scan scheduled for March 10th. We're keeping our fingers & toes crossed!!!

Our youngest is the only one in a show right now! :woohoo: And she has a VERY small part! :yay: Which means fewer rehearsals. ;)

Jon just got back for Germany but, has 2 more *out of the country* trips planned for the next couple of months.... Hong Kong and then England, again.

I don't lead an exciting life -- thank you, GOD! But, it's busy. :-)
Samantha turns 18 in a month.......... I think we are going to do some type of trip for her. But, nothing in stone...yet. ;-)

What about you?

What about you?

Hi, Steph

Things are going well. I can relax a bit after tomorrow. I do bookkeeping and have been dealing with yearends. The last one will go to the accountant's tomorrow. Then I have to tackle our taxes.

We're heading down to Seattle for a few days at March spring break and possibly going to go to Great Wolf Lodge for a night.

We tried to go to Florida, but couldn't get flights to work for us. So, we moved our Tortola cruise in that we had booked for JUL18 to the JUL04 cruise to St. Maarten and St. Thomas. It was originally just a dummy cruise but have decided to go ahead and go anyways. We're going to fly down a few days before and do some non-Disney stuff. Erica would like to do Aquatica.

Then in August we're going on RCCL to Alaska with Ken's parents and his sister and husband to celebrate his parents 50th. The July cruise is the fun one, the August one is the not so fun one.

Glad to hear that your brother is doing well and your schedule has slowed down a bit. We're going to go to the Highschool Musical - Throughly Modern Millie next week and Erica is performing in the chorus of Pirates of Penzance in June.

I wish I had remembered about your scrapbook meet on the cruise. Would have loved to see what everyone was doing. I've bought so much stuff, so now that yearends are dealt with I might get sometime to deal with the cruise photos. I've downloaded quite a few pics from the pirate site.

Should go as it's nearly midnight. The mornings come too fast some days.

Hi, Steph

Things are going well. I can relax a bit after tomorrow. I do bookkeeping and have been dealing with yearends. The last one will go to the accountant's tomorrow. Then I have to tackle our taxes..

Taxes.... YUCK! LOL!

We're heading down to Seattle for a few days at March spring break and possibly going to go to Great Wolf Lodge for a night..

What fun!!!!!

Erica would like to do Aquatica..

That WILL be fun!!!! We are hoping to still make the WDW August Pirate reunion of sorts. We just can't let our dd know that we still want to go -- her baby is due during that same week. The look on the faces of our SIL & DD when I said *Oh. We have a trip planned to WDW, wtih lots of friends, that week.* was priceless! ;)

Then in August we're going on RCCL to Alaska with Ken's parents and his sister and husband to celebrate his parents 50th. The July cruise is the fun one, the August one is the not so fun one..

That should be quite interesting!!! One of my nephews did an Alaska cruise with is grandmother when he was about 13 and had a fantastic time! But, the IL part sounds ...less then fun. ;)

Glad to hear that your brother is doing well and your schedule has slowed down a bit. We're going to go to the Highschool Musical - Throughly Modern Millie next week and Erica is performing in the chorus of Pirates of Penzance in June..

Thank you! What fun for Erica and Throughly Modern Millie is a fun show to watch!!!

I wish I had remembered about your scrapbook meet on the cruise. Would have loved to see what everyone was doing. I've bought so much stuff, so now that yearends are dealt with I might get sometime to deal with the cruise photos. I've downloaded quite a few pics from the pirate site..

I'm going to a crop this coming Saturday and I'm thinking about doing some of our cruise pics...... If I do I will post pics!

Should go as it's nearly midnight. The mornings come too fast some days.

The older I get the more I wish the days had more hours! LOL!

We moved one to the July 4 Eastern Cruise this year and one to the MAR 6 /10 Western cruise. Will probably have to change that one if DS band trip is over Spring break. Will book another dummy while on board in July.

When are you thinking about going Tom?

Jon wants me to plan a couple of trips for maybe May / June. One with just him & I (!!!!) and another with the kids. He told me to let the kids help pick their trip......one wants WDW, one wants DL and another wants the beach! LOL!
I reminded them that we are going to WDW this Fall -- if we can't make it Aug we are going the end of Sept. We got such a great deal on our bounceback and now we can do the free dining.....can't beat that with a stick!

Any suggestions for the adult only trip? Jon thought LV so that we could go to several shows. But......I am not a LV fan....it wouldn't be horrible for me since we don't have the kids but, we don't smoke and when I was there 4 yrs ago they allowed smoking everywhere -- indoors!
Our city (Arlington) hasn't allowed indoor smoking in about a decade.
The only time that Jon & I have gone on a trip together is when I flew in for a night while he was away on business (once). Or when I went on a business trip with him (twice) and yes...that is 3 very short trips in almost 30 yrs....the last of which was 12 yrs ago this month.......

UPDATE on my brother....he could still use some prayers.

I think I've told y'all that he has had several PET scans the last couple of months. He then had to have a couple of colonoscopys (sp?)
They showed that the chemo worked :yay::yay: BUT, they found a problem in his intestine. A thick wall (?). And what looks like a lesion....the first words out of the Dr's mouth were *It may be Cancer.*
My brother has a great attitude. His reply *I don't care. Let's just find out and take care of it.* He still has his port thing so, that makes it handy. ;)

Thanks for any prayers & good thoughts.

MA hasn't allowed indoor smoking for years either, so I'm sure that would bother me too, but I do want to do LV someday with just Mike.

Don't know what else to suggest out near you. I'm sure you've been to CA a ton of times. Mexico is out right now! :scared: If it was just Mike & I around here, I would go to either Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods (very nice Indian Reservation Casinos in CT), I don't remember them being smokey at all. They have lots of nice hotels, shops & restaurants. Or if we really wanted to get away, I might try Quebec, Niagra Falls, the Carolinas or maybe even Bermuda.

FYI about LV....4 yrs ago when we (me, mil & dd) were there they even allowed smoking in the shopping malls!!! When I say there is smoking indoors...I mean everywhere! LOL! We were in a non smoking part of the hotel (the Venitian) and when I arrived home Jon & the kids had me leave my suitcase in the garage.......I spent very little time in a casino most of our time was spent shopping -- it was for dd's 21st b-day and that girl loves to shop! LOL!

And the reason Jon thought LV is because of the shows. :-) He knows I love that kind of thing and I HATE the beach but, yet we go on beach vacations what seems like all the time! LOL!
I'll check into some of your ohter suggestions! :-)

Thank you for the prayers. This has been a REALLY sucky week.

If you love the shows, Steph. What about New York and go to some Broadway shows? Enjoy your special away time with Jon. I need to wait until fall 2010 for our getaway. My DSis is going to watch the kids, so we can escape for our 20th anniversary.

Well, the things I KNOW we WANT to do wouldn't involve leaving the room but, I am sure at some point we will want to be outside -- if for no other reason then to take some pics so, it looks like we did somethig! :lmao:
I hadn't thought if I wanted scenic or city......Jon just assumed I wanted to see some shows since I like that kind of thing -- he could live without it BUT, I have gone to the beach (for him & the kids) more times then I care to remember and HATE the beach! LOL!

Ours ended up being 3 wks.....and in the past when we've taken 3 wk trips it has been us (the kids & I) tagging along on one of Jon's business trips. SO, he would go to work about half the days we were gone.....

In his new position I don't think he'll be able to be away for 3 wks...BUT, I've already decided that it won't stop me! LOL! He can join us for part of the trip but, the kids will be older and Claire won't overwelm me after a few days --- if she is still this way I will hire one of our older kids to go with me and help with her! Disney Wonder to Sail from Los Angeles Starting in 2011
Disney Cruise Line announced on March 30, 2009 that it plans to reposition the Disney Wonder from its Florida base in Port Canaveral to the West Coast in 2011. The company is working with the Port of Los Angeles to finalize a two-year agreement with a three-year extension option. The contract will be considered by the Port of Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners on April 2, 2009.

If approved, the new Disney Wonder sailings could generate more than 250,000 guests passing through the Port of Los Angeles over a five-year period.

The addition of a new homeport for Disney Cruise Line is part of the overall expansion plan for The Walt Disney Company. Two new ships, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, will arrive in Florida’s Port Canaveral in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Disney Cruise Line has successfully tested the West Coast market with two summer seasons of Mexican Riviera itineraries from the Port of Los Angeles. The Disney Magic cruise ship first called on the West Coast during the summer of 2005 as part of Disneyland’s 50th anniversary and returned again during the summer of 2008. Disney Cruise Line has not yet announced the details of its itineraries for 2011.

Richard never fully got comfortable with the port. He lost a spark when they put it in.:sad2: Glad to hear he is doing well.

My moms lifelong best friend passed away last week and she was with her when she passed at 93!!!!!!! I'm going over there this week to pick up a few things they wanted us to have. They told her last night she is in the will and the nephews agreed to increase what it was. She wants to take me on a cruise. Truthfully emotionally I am not ready for it but she is going on 92 and who knows how much longer she will be here and I would regret not doing it. Trouble is she wants to do it this summer and the only time off is the time for the reunion. My days off are written in stone!!!! Will have to play this one by ear for a while. I know she wanted to do the panama canal sometime and Alaska. Oy!!!!! Decisions at a time I don't have the heart for it.

Grandson is sick. Sounds like flu and this has me worried. Think she is taking him to the Dr as he was sick all day yesterday. This flu thing has everyone concerned. I am wiping everything at work and realized yesterday I left my headset out and didn't lock it up Wed. so I wiped it down with alcohol and sprayed the entire desk, keyboard etc as I always have done since Rich was diagnosed with cancer. You can't be too over cautious with so many people in the site.I laughed when Dr Oz said a sneeze can travel at 100 mph.we have some serious sneezers at work. Gotta go get ready for work:surfweb:

:grouphug::grouphug: Hi, Arlene

I know how tough it is to make decisions after losing someone close. Hang in there. Try and go and make some memories with your Mom - you'll be glad you did. Maybe go to Alaska. It's not Panama and it won't be on a Disney Ship. We're on the Royal Caribbean - Serenade of Seas leaving Vancouver on AUG8 - if you want some DIS company.

You'll make the right decision for you, I know you will. And we will understand if you miss the reunion. My parents are older too and I'm trying to make the most of our times together. While I'm sad my son missed out on the '07 transatlantic, I'm so glad I decided to take my mom. She and her friends still talk about her world travels.

Maybe a non-Disney cruise would make it easier for you to go? Especially since Disney doesn't go to Alaska. I've seen some great deals to Alaska this summer. Let me know if you'd like me to pass them along.

All of my brother's tests have come back CLEAR!!!!! :dance3::dance3:

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support over these months.

Stephanie,

I am so glad to hear that your brother is doing well. The uncertainty of cancer can be very stressful and my heart goes out to you and your family.

We’ve had our own recent bout with cancer. Not long after returning from the EBPC Repo we found out that my 1st daughter (stepdaughter) had a reoccurrence of melanoma. One of the local hospitals that her Grandfather had worked for arranged a trip to DL for her and her immediate family, including her two little girls.

On January 4, 2009, after a short battle with her reoccurrence of melanoma, we lost a lovely 31 year old young lady.

Kelly’s two young daughters, 4 and 7, are living with their grandfather and step grandmother who are doing a wonderful job raising them. Laura, Katie and I are having a great time inviting the girls over for baking and craft time.

On a more fun note, from June 13 - 21 Katie is going on a science trip to Ecuador / Galapagos. While Katie is gone Laura and I will be traveling to BWV arriving on June 14th transferring to VBR on the 17th and flying home on the 20th in time to pick up Katie at the airport on June 21st.

Laura, Katie and I are on Facebook so we will have to look for you.

FUN!!!!!

Jon is twisting off that we don't have a cruise planned -- even though he was the one that didn't want me to book one.... -- so now he is thinking that we should either do one as a family over Christmas (I told him that was way too expensive for me! ;)) or one as a couple over New Years (our 30th anniversary will be Dec 27th)... We'll see.....
We already had to cancel any trips that we wanted to do in May & June since I had to be here for my brother & my father.
They do not know that we cancelled our plans. But, really who else was going to be here for/with them?

We are going to try to fit in a trip the 2nd week of July (my daad leaves on the 5th). The kids start rehearsals on the 13th....... I let them audition since I thought our summer trips would be either in May or June! UGH!!!

Ahoy Crew!

You know it just occurred to me that I've got this dummy reservation for a cruise out there that I've never done anything with. When do I need to change it? Can it wait until the 2011 dates come out - or do I have to change it now? I'd rather wait since, nothing in 2010 is both affordable and interesting.

I don't know about you guys, but this last year just flew by. How can it be summer again?

Of course, moving into the new place and getting 3-4 years of deferred maintenance on the land done has kept us pretty busy. It's hard to believe we've been here 5 months already. And there are still boxes everywhere. I'm living my very own Treasure Hunt. Everyday's a Pirate day.

Hey - we've got Llamas now - they do a decent job eating down the front two pastures. Talk about easy to keep.

Anyway, can someone clue me in?

You need to move it, before you have to pay up at the 75 days out mark. Not sure when that is as I move our cruise ages ago.

You may need to check with DCL or someone in the know, but when we rebooked on board, the deposit was 1/2 of what it should have been. I know they extended this promotion, but if you move it and the promotion is over, do you have to pay the other 1/2 or does it hold?

I would move it sooner rather than later as full payment/no refund deadlines will be approaching in the next few months.

When I moved ours to March 2010, we didn't have to pay any additional deposit. Maybe it's changed? Doesn't hurt to call and ask.

Alot of pirates have moved to a Facebook group. I haven't taken the plunge there either - not enough time in my day to added that too. Dis still takes up some of my time. Would be nice to know how everyone was doing though.

So nice to hear from you! We've been in our house 17 months and I still have boxes. :rotfl: And heck if I know where some of my stuff is located! LOL!

We had seriously considered getting a good sized piece of land...but, Jon didn't like the idea of us being isolated in case we have an emergency. So, we now live about 1/2 mile from a fire station & a hospital...the police station is about a mile and a half away. ;)

Anyway, can someone clue me in?

.
Llamas huh? I just moved my ressie to next year. CAn't remember the date tho.Not sure I will doing anymore cruises. Will have to see. Facebook is not as timeconsuming as the dis. Come on over!!!

Ooo. Ooo. I know this one. You have to pay the full deposit. That's why we haven't move it - money is SUPER tight right now.

What's all this about Facebook? Everyone's moving there? I've been avoiding it like the plauge. Just one more thing to do... :sad2:

.

If you come over to facebook they have virtual farms you can play. I myself have a few Llamas. lol
