I've driven away from MK after the evening parade/fireworks and I've taken the bus so I know how they are. This Nov. we're staying at the Dolphin, so the monorail is a new option. Any input from those who could comment on how long the 'rail would take for a trip to Epcot vs. the bus for a trip to Dolphin would be greatly appreciated. MK will be closing some time before Epcot so we could go there and walk 'home'.
Thanks,

I'm not exactly sure of how late after MK closes, but last July we rode the monorail just for kicks and to get DS to chill out 'till it's last run which was about 11p.m. I think. We asked at the Contemporary how late the rail would run and they said 'till about midnight, but the monorail driver said 11. It was great...we had the front car to ourselves and just chatted with the driver as they made the rounds and dropped us back off at CR. I would ask that day...as schedules can obviosly change depending on crowds, etc.

If you leave when the crowds do after the fireworks, it can take a long time just waiting for the first monorail to the TTC and then for the second to Epcot as huge numbers are doing the same thing. During mid day that trip by two monorails can often take no more than 15 to 20 minutes with waiting time included. At MK closing, it can often take 45 minutes to an hour. Also, once at Epcot you will need to walk through Epcot to the International Gateway exit near United Kingdom (another 15 to 20 minutes), and then walk from there to S/D (another 10 to 15 minutes). The bus to S/D is actually in the first bus lane in the MK bus depot outside the MK front gate and goes directly to S/D. Travel time is only about 15 to 20 minutes although wait time could be up to 20 minutes for a bus at MK closing.
