Welcome:welcome: :welcome: to everyone. We will get to know each other over the next few weeks.
Here is the clippie for the black team. It is very fitting for me and I will explain why when I get a chance to introduce myself later today. If you don't know who this is she is the costume designer Edna from Incredibles.

All I can say is that I was on the BL3 Black Team once before and we won that challenge so I am hoping for the same thing this season.
Good luck everyone. DOn't forget to email your starting weight to Brenda.
Have a great day

Good morning everyone! I'm Mary and usually hang out on the cruise board but I did one of the biggest loser challenges and it helped. I've been struggling with my weight for years and was doing good at the beginning of the year but got off track over the summer. Looking forward to this go round to help me get back on track!
I'm married but DH and I are DINKS (dual income no kids). We are big kids at heart and love Disney.

Hi everyone! I'm Becki a married homeschool mom of 2 kiddos: DS 11.5 and DD 10 next month! I have been having issues with my wieght for almost 5 years now. I am the heaviest I have ever been and I know that I am not being a good role model for my kiddos. Hopefully with your support that will change! :thumbsup2

Hi, team! My name is Jana and I am a single Disney lover from Illinois. I was incredibly successful with the DIS challenges and lost 110lbs. Unfortunately, life happened and I gained back 50.:scared: Now I am back and hopefully ready to be motivated and try again. Things will be tough. I have to go out of town this weekend and then leave for Disney next Saturday. But, I am here for the long haul.
Good luck everyone and have a great weekend!

Hey all, I am Carla Rae. I am the getting married in less than 2 weeks! :scared1:
I am also the Challenge leader, so you will be hearing a little bit more about that later today.
I have about 40lbs to lose and had these great aspirations to lose them before the wedding, but that didn’t work out so well. I have had these same 40lbs since I was 12! One day I am just going to give up and say this is who I am, but today is not that day. I am thinking of going to a weight loss doc when I get back and see what he has to say about my issues.
Currently I run 6-10 miles a week, walk at least 5 miles day, wii fit for 3 hours a week and, if I am feeling adventurous at 4 am, I take a Pilates class or weightlifting class at my gym. Those classes start at 6 am! The day before I fly out, I am taking my first belly dancing class, so that should be interesting. I have no rhythm!
I have tried weightwatchers, the Shangri-la diet (don’t recommend that one), alli (yes I went there, all for looking good in wedding pics), a nutritionist and structured exercise. And all I have to show for it is the exact same number that was on the scale in high school!
Anyway, so here I am trying again. :thumbsup2

Hi - My name is Kim. I have about 35 pounds to lose and just started back at WW last week. I weigh in there tomorrow and from the looks of the number on my scale at home - I've lost quite a bit so far. I've signed up to get the extra support and motivation I need to stay on track. 24 of the pounds I need to lose I had lost about a 1 1/2 years ago and have since managed to put them back on. GO BLACK TEAM!!:cool1:

Good Morning team! Here is the long story of me. I was chubby in elementary school, heavy in High School, and just plain old fat in college. Then I lost 65 lbs - and looked great. I did my first Triathlon. Then I got pregnant with DS #1 - gained 80 lbs. Only lost about 40 of it, but I still look ok. Ran my first marathon. Then I got pregnant with DS #2 - gained 60 lbs. lost about 30. Did more triathlons, and a 1/2 marathon. They were harder this time. And I do not look ok. I look fat now! I discover that I can not lose weight with a diet change OR exercise - I have to do BOTH. And I have to exercise a lot! I do a weightlifting class 3x per week. 4 hours on the elliptical per week and I run/walk about 25 miles per week. I am also doing the same food plan that I used when I lost my first 65 lbs. I started last week, so the BL challenge was perfect timing for me.
I am looking forward to this exciting journey with all of you.
GOOD LUCK ALL!! GO TEAM!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

I am Dawn, working mother of DD16 and DS 6. Been fighting the weigh battle since 1996 a year after moving to SC. Have a DCL cruise planned for 6/6/09 and I want these 70+ lbs gone so that I can enjoy myself. Nothing worse than spending all that money only to feel self conscious and sit on the sidelines which is what I do on every trip to the beach or to the lake. I also have some realistic concerns over future health impacts, Dad died of heart attack 8 years ago at age of 56, so no more putting this off! I know we can do it team, after all, the Black Team had super trainer Jilian so we have to win!!! (can anyone help me attach the green thingy? I am also technically challenged)

Good Morning, all!!
I'm Julie, just turned 48 the end of July. SAHM (for now) with 3 kids (who really aren't kids) DD16, DS19 & DS22. I also have my fur babies which I like more than my 2 legged kids most days. Mia & Max are in my avatar, Plus DS19 has a 9 mo old Husky puppy, Musashi- my walking partner, and a 14 yo 107 lb chocolate lab.
I have been tinkering w/ WW for 5.5 YEARS. Did great at first, lost 37 lbs of which I've kept 22 off. Then my MIL died of cancer, my mom broke her hip & died & my SIL died of cancer all in the same year. Got back in the groove slowly, then my DS22 moved out at 18.5, then back in 3 yrs ago this week after being evicted at gunpoint. He is my source of stress and my eating for comfort....thankfully he is now off MOST drugs (I think), and has been employed again for about 6 months. To top it off, my DH had a heart attack almost 2 yrs ago at age 48, my DSis had Breast Cancer in there(lives in FL), and the normal family stresses.
I was doing OK again when I went to FL to my DSis for 3 weeks in July, ending in an 8 day cruise....up 9.6 lbs in 3 wks and can't get it together.
I need to lose due to a hideous family history. Each of my 5 siblings became diabetic at age 48....... dad died of heart problems, brother had quintuple bipass (& he was the thin marathon runner brother), etc.
I visit a breast specialist due to my DSis & she told me I have a choice....battle my weight & eating habits, or battle diabetes, heart disease & cancer....... Gee, I think I'll work on my weight.
I still belong to WW and am determined to use this to get back on track. I rarely make meetings, but need to start..at least to weigh in.
OK, I'm long winded this morning............enough..........
Have a wonderful week!! Welcome to the BLACK TEAM!! Get out & MOVE!!!!!! (come join the Sept. exercise challenge!!)
TOGETHER we CAN do this!!
I'll be journalling on my WISH journal all my food/weight/etc as well if you want to visit & I'll try to visit others. Journalling helps!!

Good afternoon team members. My day is just about done so I thought while the parking lot empties out I would tell you about myself
I am a 53 year old AP Calc math teacher who has been married to her college sweetheart for 30 years this past Aug (we celebrated at DW).
We have two sons ds1 is 23, just graduated from college and has since moved back home to look for a Big Boy job. He brought all his dirty laundry and a new puppy home with him in May. He does work almost a 40 hour week at JCPenney's but his degree is in Bio and we feel he should work in his field.
Ds2 is 18 and has just started college here in NJ. He is studying Civil and Environmental Engineering at a small school in South Jersey. I miss him a lot. I was involved with him as a band parent and the head of the sweat shop for his school's musicals (Hence why Edna is so special to me. I have spent 7 years working with the costume designer at ds's school making his stuff come out while he finishes the sets.)
2 1/2 years ago I lost 30 pounds. WHen I went for my yearly physical my bp was not low enough to get off medications and my cholestrol was not down so I had to start on medications. A few months later the nurse at my school found out that I had an irregular heartbeat and I spent some time being tested and being told that I have PVC's. It is an electrical problem that can be fixed by changing just one of my medications. After all this I kind of gave up. I then spent about a year having sinus infections off and on. I am now on 2 nose sprays during the fall and the winter and run a vaporizor in my bedroom at night.
I am going to have problems with this challenge since I have a bad ankle. I was diagnosed with tendinitis of the ankle (no I have never heard of it before) this past June. It is being caused by a bunion forming. I wake up in the morning in pain so I have no desire to exercise. By the time I come home in the evening I am back in pain and I spend at least a 1/2 hour icing the ankle. SInce I am walking funny sometimes my knee on the other leg gives out,. Yes I am quite a site.
I feel that I need to do this so that I can have surgery on the bunion next summer and not get any heavier since I willnot have much mobility for a few weeks.
It should be fun getting to know you all. I will be telling you all tales of my trip last month to DW (It was a blast in between the icing I did every night)
Have a great day.

Barbmouse here...introducing myself!!
I am a happily married mother of 2 (dd 15 and ds11) and teacher. I joined Weight Watchers at the beginning of July and have lost about 15 lbs. I would love to lose 15 more! I have been faithfully exercising and that has been increasingly difficult as school began with work, kid's activites, etc. I'm off to the gym after I finish this post. I have NOT been faithfully journaling what I eat each day. My immediate goals are to start journaling again and eat more fruits and veggies.
I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead on this thread. It is always great to have buddies then add some good ole competition and it doesn't get much better! :)
Any other WW folks out there?

Sorry to be so late, but just got a chance to sit down at my computer. So, I'm 53 years old, married with 2 daughters, ages 22 and 18. My oldest was a cast member at WDW in the College Program. Love to brag about that since it was an exciting time for us all. We live in Missouri, about 25 miles west of St. Louis.
Anyway, I am currently a WW member since June of this year. My goal is to lose 54 pounds, and so far, I am at 21.6. Don't think I'll be posting any HUGE losses on a weekly basis, but I will be slow and steady for sure. This is my 4th time at WW and I am DETERMINED to make Lifetime this time. Getting older and having extra weight on is not a good thing.
Exercise M-Fri, on my treadmill, also do Bow-Flex and free weights.
Looking forward to the challenge. I know it will be a lot of fun, but also hard work. I'm UP for it. :thumbsup2

Hi! I'm Denise, 1/2 of DINK, I'll be 37 next month and need to loose about 40 pounds. I work different shifts during the week and find myself eating on the go, thru drive-thrus quite often. My first 2 goals are to bring my own lunches to work and quit drinking pop! Been getting used to my Wii Fit and doing The Firm workouts when I can fit them in. Can't loose this weight on my own, looking forward to loosing it with everyone else!

just checking in with my exercise report; And I award myself the "any way you can get it done" award.
I usually go to the gym in the morning, right after I drop off DS. I had an appointment this morning. So I had planned to to go at 4 when the afternoon childcare opened up. My Kindergartener got a yellow start today - warning for behavior. The rule is that you don't play video games at all on days you get a yellow star. He would have played games at the gym, and I can't ask them to try to keep him off the video game. So we can't go to the gym. I didn't give up - I got everyone in the pool. I carried my 5 yo under one arm, and the 2 yo under the other - and raced them up and down pool. I managed to get in 30 minutes of water jogging with about 90 lbs of weight for added resistance :lmao:

Good Sat morning. I hope you are all safe this morning and praying for those poor people in Texas.

I am off to mow two lawns with my husband and they aren't even ours. Dh's sister is disabled so we do her lawn and dh's father says he can't do theirs any more so we are off to do their lawns. We will leave as soon as dh gets back from taking in the recyclables.
Hope everyone has a great losing day. Keep up the hard work.

Oh, goody an award!!:cool1: And yes it does feel good to reward ourselves!!

Hi all! My laptop still won't work up in my room so I am down in the hotel lobby posting this.
I have two sons. David is 21 and Michael is 10. I have been working out regularly since Easter. The only weight I have lost was the 10 lbs I lost around the time of the mini BL challenge last spring. It was a lot of fun and really kept me motivated. Unfortunately I don't make wise choices when I eat. I eat what is easiest at the time. Sometimes its the apple I grab off the counter and other times it's 2 slices of pizza!! I'm excited about doing this over the next four months. I would love to eventually lose 40 lbs, but my immediate goal is 5 lbs. If I lose 5 lbs I will weigh the least I've weighed since I was 6 months preggo with Michael!! WooHoo!! I can't wait!! GO Team!!!!

Hi - I am Wendy. Wasn't paying attention and didn't realize we were all on teams and a new thread!
I live in Melbourne, FL and am a former Entertainment CM at WDW. I'm 40 and a single mom of a 17 year old boy. He is graduating this year and I will be left alone. Thought the best way to remedy that situation was to get my health and weight under control.
I have a long way to go. I actually started this Sept 1 and have lost about 7 pounds so far. I just need the motivation to keep going. At least until I can SEE results. Right now - nothing seems different except that I am hungry and my muscles are sore!

Hi Everyone,
I hope you all had a great day!!
I got in 30 minutes of exercise...not as much as usual but better than nothing, right? I made Weight Watchers Garden Veg soup to have on hand. It is 0 points and quite tasty. I also bought Progresso soups that are 0 or 1 WW points. This will be great for my lunch at school during the week. I enjoy soup and since my building can be a bit chilly I don't mind it on warm days. But cooler days are coming so stock up if you like them!!! I find planning ahead is a big challenge for me but makes a huge difference when I do it.
There are some great recipes at the top of this thread if you need more ideas. I am new here and am excited about trying some of them.

Ahhh!! I am so guilty of weighing every day. It is such a downfall for me that I have a personal challenge of only weighing on Mon, Wed, Fri.
I swam a mile in 45 minutes today. .....And can I count the 1 1/2 that I spent mowing the lawn today as exercise?? :rolleyes1 I had planned on 2 hours in the pool, but the yard took a little bit longer than I thought it would.

43 yo mother of two boys and working full-time.
I guess I will aim to lose 30lbs...though more would great, but to be honest I will be amazed it I lose 5! I really really cant seem to lose weight. In the last few years I've totally overhauled my life - changed what I eat (majorly...), incorperated a lot of exercise, and couldnt lose a pound. Recently, I've added more excercise and changed to much lighter lunches...STILL no loss. I have toned up a bit...not much...:sad2:

Wow - we ARE weight-loss twins!!! It is VERY frustrating....sometimes I wish I didnt exercise or were an "emotional eater", atleast then I'd know why I sit about 50 lbs overweight too?!:confused3
I too have considered going to weight-loss doc - but work w/a lot of docs and they all seemed stumped, so think it might add to my frustration. The "funniest" part is in college I dropped 50 lbs in about 3 months for no appearant reason?! I was eating a TON more and not exercising as much....all my friends gained the freshman 15 while I kept losing! My parents first thought I was bulemic/anorexic but after watching me eat like a horse knew it wasnt that. Then they took me to an internist to see about cancer....no, thank goodness. I stayed at that weight for 4 yrs of college. Got out, started working and eating "normally" (since I had to pay for it myself...) and going to aerobics 3x a week - and w/in months gained the 50 back, exactyl.:scared1:  :sad2:
So.....bleh.....off to the gym I go!

1) Start carrying a water bottle around and drink throughout the day- 6 to 8 glasses is ideal
2) Give yourself an extra hour in the grocery store. Spend the time looking at labels and serving sizes on your common food choices and find healthier items to replace them
3) Buy a pedometer. They range from $5-$20 usually or currently can be found in Wheaties boxes as the prize. You are supposed to take 10,000 steps a day.
4) Locate and/or buy some fitness clothes. You need good shoes when starting a fitness regimen.
5) Don’t stress. You have 15 weeks to get the hang of this and get closer to your goal, so don’t go gung-ho and burn yourself out.
1. I am pretty good with this. I began this summer to always carry a water bottle with me. I try to stock up when I see water on sale.
2. This I could use some work on. I need to be more experimental especially with veggies. I do record WW points on boxes of cereal, crackers, etc. so I know what they are before I eat it.
3. I think I have a pedometer...somewhere. Guess I need to look for it.
4. I'm good on fitness clothes although I would like new shoes soon.
5. I do try not to stress over this. If I don't eat as well as I'd like I just try to start over the next day. Exercise and water are key for my success.

Well, I usually take week-ends off for exercise and am pretty good at sticking to it, Mon-Fri. A few years ago, we started a tradition in our house during football season, called "Munchie Sundays". This year, we prepared all kinds of healthy snacks, such as fruit and veggies, baked chips and salsa, sun dried tomatoes and wheat crackers. My DH did not mind this at all, and I actually filled up on the raw veggies. So, I hope this plays well with my WW weigh-in this week. We'll see. I may have to revise the menu if I do not show a loss this week.
Hope everyone is staying motivated. I have 2 goals- to lose 10 more pounds before my WDW vacation and cruise in early November, and to reach goal weight by my birthday in February. So, far, I made my fist goal of 10% by Labor Day.
Have a good week everyone!

Happy Sunday!
Sundays are my off days for training, so no exercise report for me.
Pre-challenge report:
Doing great on getting my water in - I don't think I could go all day without drinking at least 8 glasses of water anymore. I crave the stuff now.
I meal plan down to each portion size, so I'm good in the grocery store.
Haven't got my pedometer yet
Got PLENTY of exercise clothes, but this did get me thinking that I need to get a new pair of running shoes soon
My Sunday football snack ideas:
My new favorite dinner right now is my version of hot wings:
I grill up several chicken breasts, and put them in the fridge. Then when I need a quick "junk food" meal, I pull out about 6oz and put several shakes of Hot sauce on it (read the label and make sure it is a pepper vinegar sauce. A lot of Buffalo sauces have butter in them) and a 1/2 tbs of FF Ranch. Heat up in the microwave and serve with raw veggies.
Have a great week everyone!

1)I drink H2O all day at work and keep it by me all evening and in bed as I DIS and read. I drink a LOT (always have - my mom used to have be tested for diabetes all the time because I was always thirsty...)
2) Give yourself an extra hour in the grocery store...I did this today after the gym....
3) Buy a pedometer...... Like bardmouse said I haveone somewhere...now to hunt it down....
4) Locate and/or buy some fitness clothes....in good shape - I go to the gym 4-5 times a week already.
5) Don’t stress...not too stressed about wt loss, since I think I cant lose...but AM stressed feeling like I will bring my team down......
And, ack, tomorrows Monday...:guilty: back to work.

Hello all,
I have read the first page, and before I continue reading, I'm going to introduce myself.
I'm Sandra, 29yo, single, no kids, living in Brussels (Belgium). I would like to loose 50 lbs, but if I manage to loose 30, I'll be happy :)
After turning 18, I started to get chubby. When in college, I did WW and did really good in loosing it. But somehow I got them back, two years ago I managed to loose a lot of it again but then real life hit again, I spent 2+ months at home with my foot in a cast, and could do nothing more than eat, etc etc etc.
I'm also a very emotional eater, and right now, my current employer is making my life really difficult because I gave notice (1 more month to work here), and this makes me eat too much. So, this challenge is right in time!!! Example? I was craving chocolate cake so much this weekend, and I didn't make any, because of BL6!
Oh, now that I think about it, next Saturday, school starts again. yes, i'm going to school to become a pastry chef, so that won't make it easy, but I'm going to try!

Good morning everyone. Sorry I wasn't on much this weekend. Sat we spent the day mowing two lawns for in laws (It helped me to get to my 10,000 step goal I have set for my self)
Sunday was church and then grocery shopping which I hadn't done in 2 weeks. I was all set to serve steak and shrimp skewers but I got sick to my stomach and I spent the rest of the day on the couch or in bed. I am feeling somewhat better today but not 100%. I hope to get in a walk later but if I am still feeling sick I will wait till tomorrow.
WIll check in later Have a losing day.

:) Hi Everyone,
Sorry I'm late. I don't get on the computer during the weekends. I am a single mother of 2 girls (22 & 20). I have at least 100 lbs to lose. I lose 20 and then I gain that 20 back. I have been doing this for over 2 years. So at least I have maintained the same weight for a while. I already do the things recommended in the pre-challenge (but drinking the water). I will work on that. Have a great week!

I wasn't around this weekend, so I am just going to jump right back in and then try to catch up throughout the day when the boss isn't hovering. :rolleyes1
I had a family reunion this weekend which mean several dinners out with cousins that I only see once a year. I am doing WW, and I had to dip into my flex points, but I managed to survive the weekend completely OP. Yay!

1) Start carrying a water bottle around and drink throughout the day- 6 to 8 glasses is ideal
That's easy for me, at work they make fun of me because I drink so much water! (I bring a big bottle of water + have some cups from the water fountain + drink a lot at home too)
2) Give yourself an extra hour in the grocery store. Spend the time looking at labels and serving sizes on your common food choices and find healthier items to replace them
This ain't going to happen!
At the moment, I'm on this protein shake diet, so I avoid the grocery store at all costs! Spending an hour there will lead to me craving real food, buying real food + eating real food. And that should not happen in the coming 3 weeks!
3) Buy a pedometer. They range from $5-$20 usually or currently can be found in Wheaties boxes as the prize. You are supposed to take 10,000 steps a day.
Is also not going to happen, since I can't wear it at work.
10,000 steps a day??????
4) Locate and/or buy some fitness clothes. You need good shoes when starting a fitness regimen.
Have some fitness clothes that fit me (more or less), can't buy more since stores usually don't sell any over size 12/14. I need a bigger size than that, so I buy them while in the US, and that won't happen before spring (unless I win the lottery).
5) Don’t stress. You have 15 weeks to get the hang of this and get closer to your goal, so don’t go gung-ho and burn yourself out.
I won't stress regarding the weight loss, I have enough other things to stress about :rotfl2:

Good Monday all! I have done the 1.5 mile walking loop with the dog this morning and my customary 20 push-up and 100 sit-ups that I do every morning. After work I have the girly doc..yuck! :scared: My annual falls in early September, so I just want to get it done despite everything else on my plate right now. But that means I cant run today (no treadmills open at the gym after a certain time and way too hot to run outside), so hopefully i will feel up to Wii Fit a bit tonight.
This weekend is my bachlorrette and I am trying to plan for the bad food i will consume. And then it just gets bad. These next two weeks I am booked solid especially next week. We fly out Wednesday after work and I need to be in work all three days, plus my first belly dancing class is Tuesday night so I cant miss. I might have to "go home sick" one day from work just to get my nails done! :rolleyes1

Question to those that have a Wii fit: do you feel like it's a "real" workout, or is it just some "fun" entertainment?
I'm still debating whether I "need" one or not. I will only buy it if enough people say out of experience that it's as good as going to aerobics. And if there is no jumping involved because otherwise the neighbours under me will complain once again...

I was very very bad yesterday. Spent the day at Universal Studios and did pretty well until I discovered there is a Ben & Jerry's there. Had a small chocolate ice cream sundae. Oh yeah - ate some of my son's popcorn too.
On the good side - I definitely drank my 8 ounces and more!
Do you think all that tromping around the park counts as any kind of exercise? My muscles sure feel like I was doing something yesterday - my whole body aches.

There is a Wii Fit thread, but since you asked here...I definitely get a good workout. If you just do the motions, perhaps not, but if you "get into it" you will feel it tomorrow. I wear a heart rate monitor and can get around 500 calories and hour believe it or not.
As for the jumping, there is none at all. The only thing you would have to skip, is the running game, but I skip that as well since I actually run on non-wii days.

I managed to stay off the scale all weekend!! I weighed this morning and was down 1 lb.
Went to the gym this morning - 1 hour group power (group barbell class - It's the only way I can make myself get my weightlifting in.) And then 1 hour Zumba class - this was actually my first Zumba ever - how fun was that?! Zumba made it into the weekly rotation.
Ok, so now I have to clean my house  but at least it is steps - and on that note - best place to buy a cheap pedometer?

Good Afternoon everyone. I made it home from my weekend out of town and found out this morning I put on nearly 4 lbs since my weigh in on Friday morning!! Ugh! Sitting in class all day and eating fast food will do it!
I was motivated once I got off the scale and put 2 hours in the gym this morning. I sweated my butt off!!
I normally drink a lot of water, but I'm going to limit my drinking to water only for the next 4 months.
If I can't find my pedometer before I go to the grocery store this afternoon I am planning on buying a box of wheaties.
I need smaller workout pants (yea!) so I will make my way over to TJ Maxx this week. I just bought new sneakers...
I'm not stressing, I'm very excited!!!
By the way, a girl at the workshop said that what helped her lose a bunch of weight was eating an apple an hour before she ate each meal. It really cut her portion sizes. Also, my trainer told me today that he used to suck on a slice of lemon 30 min before he ate. He said the citric acid made the stomach temporarily smaller. I will be adding apples and lemons to my grocaery list.
Have a great day!!

Just wanted to check in and say hello teammates! I have a bunch of weight to lose and an upcoming cruise plus this challenge is great motivation. Previously I was doing long workouts on the elliptical (90-120 minutes) and not getting anywhere. Now I'm starting a new exercise program that actually takes less time and so far this week I am already seeing results on the scale, woo hoo! I just hope it continues. Food, stress, and lack of sleep are also major issues with me so I'm working on them too.
I am new to BL here and I'm wondering about the pre-challenge, how does it work? Do I just need to do one of the things or the whole list? If I don't, does it hurt the team? Also can I just borrow a pedometer from someone?

Black team....where are you??????
What have you done to exercise today??????
What have you eaten healthy today??????
What's your favorite 'sweet' snack??????? Sweets are my downfall....see my recent cookie dough attack.......
Today I am so far OP, and I WILL stay that way!! Took my dogs in their stroller for a 102 min walk!! Lemme tell ya, pushing up steep hills even though total the weight is about 35 - 40 lbs is NOT easy!!
Don't forget to watch BL6 tonight!! (and NO eating during commercials....unless of course it's part of your normal day's food)

The pre-challenge is just a list of suggestions until October. The "real" stuff starts then. I calculate team points by three factors, top points for the week, number of players on each team participating (even if they only get 10 pts) and team average score. So in the end you help the team by trying the tasks, but you don't hurt if you don't have time.
I will have a full explanation on the 2nd when I post the first real task list.
Welcome to BL!

Goldcupmom - Please Please Please post a picture of your dogs in the stoller! :rotfl::rotfl2: I'm not making fun of you, promise!!! I had a little dog that would not walk more 100 yards. He just laid in the road and refused to move. I would have to carry him home. I should have thought of a stroller!!!!
Did great at the gym today - I finally got my running grove back! I ran 3 miles, walked 1.5 miles and then ran 3 miles for a total of 7.5 miles in 99 minutes. Then lots of streching.
I've been OP all day!!! This is big because we are potty training, and I have a 3 lb bag of M&M's on top of my fridge.

Checking in today. I exercise every day, Mon-Fri on my treadmill. Wake up at 4:30 am and do my daily routine, which also includes free weights or bow-flex. Today was no different. Woke up, and got my exercise in. I have been OP since I started WW in June, except for a short week-end at a Family Reunion in July, and even then, it was not that bad. I have come too far to turn back and I WILL not gain the weight back that I have fought so hard to lose. Nothing is going to get me off track this time. There are a lot of things in my life right now that are out of control, and this is the one thing that I have control over. I have only myself to account for, and I will NOT let myself down.
So, rally around Black Team. We can do it!

Well, I couldn't help it. Even though I weighed myself on Friday, I weighed in again this morning......
Yay!! I have already lost some weight since Friday's weigh in!!!!
3-1/2 lb Loss Since Friday....let's hope I keep it off and maybe more!!!!
Granted, I know that you always weigh more in the evenings than in the mornings and on Friday I weighed myself in the evening because I had been traveling overnight Thursday and wasn't home to weigh in until later in the day Friday, then today I weighed myself this morning (which is what I normally do), but WOW, what a difference!

So even though I was up at 430, I did not go to the gym. I am having foot issues, and have a DR appt on Friday. Hopefully I will be able to go in the morning. However, I have done well with the food. Vivanno from Starbucks for breakfast (If you haven't had it, try it! Yummy, 250 cals 5 fiber 16 protein with banana and mango, 2%milk.) Made a sandwich for lunch at home instead of going out, and spaghetti for dinner, just one serving and very proportional.
i feel good about it!;)

Just finished watching BL and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!
I think it's incredible the HUGE amounts of weight they are able to lose each week. For me, the most motivating part is the medical information. What we are doing to our bodies and our health is amazingly sad. But the show proves that we have hope, as long as we don't give up!
I didn't sit to watch tonight. Instead, I continually moved & cleaned, working on some drawers & stuff that needed put away all over the house. Also did my weights (10 min) and ab work( 10 min) at commercials.
Did anyone else see it???

Julie-For me it's personal determination. The last 4 years have been a lot of ups and downs; deaths in the family, marital issues, teen issues, health issues, job issues, and I was putting myself last. Last November I went to the emergency room because I thought I was having a stroke. I didn't, but my blood pressure was through the roof. Took me another 6 more months to start taking my health seriously, and to take care of ME for a change. So, that's where my motivation comes from. It's all about ME now!

Hey everyone....just wanted to pop in and say Hi!! I'm your new teammate.
My name is Kimberly, I am married to a wonderful man for the past 18 yrs and have 2 great kids, a DS 16 and DD 12. While I am new to BL6, I am not new to the DIS BL challenges. I began my weight loss journey last September and have come a long way but still have further to go. I have been working my way back into running using the podrunner intervals podcasts. I am on week 6 and feel pretty good that I am on my way to running again.
Good Luck this week everyone! We can do this:woohoo:

Hi everyone!
I'm Theresa. I'm 25, been happily married for two years to a soldier. No kids....yet. He's been gone for about 80% of the time that we've been married, and deploying again by the end of the year. We recently moved from Wisconsin to Texas, and up until recently I didn't have any friends here.
My goal is to ultimately lose about 50 pounds all together, but at this point I'd be happy with ten or twenty. It seems like the number on the scale only increases everytime I get on it...for the last four years.
My friend and I have been walking every day (with the exception of Saturday and Sunday because of hurricane ike). I try to jog a little bit each day too, and it's not much, but I suppose every little bit helps.

Hey all,
I have a question: what does "OP" mean in this BL context???
Yesterday, I was doing great on my protein diet for breakfast and lunch. then, yesterday evening, I made 24 cupcakes from scratch for a charity at work (I only ate one, without icing), and because I was so busy, I just popped a lasagna in the microwave to have a quick dinner. While I usually love this Salmon lasagna, it didn't "taste" me. I think after a week, I'm so used to the "light" protein meals, that my stomach can't handle the regular stuff anymore!

I DVR'd it so I could skip through the commercials, and the LONG pauses during the weigh-ins. Yes, this was really something this time. I have never seen them sit people out of the work-outs because of their bad health and fear that they would drop dead. I was also encouraged by the first couple sent home, since they really lost a lot of weight on their own. I think it's going to be a good show.
For the first time, I did not sit on my couch and eat ice cream while watching the show.

I did get to see BL last night and I am even more determined to lose something! It has been really difficult to watch what I eat because we were without power for about 50 hours! I was really stressing out and when I do, it is Dr. Pepper for me... Well, it wasn't a good Monday evening b/c I had 2-20oz bottles! AAACCCKKK! I know, I know, I know, I have TONS of work to do to work it off. Luckily, the power came back yesterday afternoon so I can exercise with my DDR on the Wii as well with the sports and my pilates videos!
Keep up the good work everyone. You all are inspiring me to keep working!

Hi. I'm a new team member, and I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Rebecca, and I'm a 35yo mom to Kate (she's 2yo and her nickname is KatieMac). I'm a lawyer and my husband's a teacher. Tomorrow is our 9 year anniversary (I wonder if he even remembers? Haha). I live in Dallas, but have moved all over in the past 15 years (Austin, Kansas City, New Orleans).
I have struggled with my weight all my life. I got it really under control starting in college and then defenitely in law school. I was an aerobics instructor and a triathlete until I got pregnant. Then, I gained a LOT of weight while I was pregnant (a chocolate milkshake every day :rolleyes1 ), and I really haven't gotten much of the baby weight off. I did lose 20 pounds, but I have another 60 pounds to lose until I'm back to what I think is a healthy weight for me.
I'm signed up to run a half marathon in Nov, so that should be a good challenge that will help keep me on track. My ultimate goal is to do a Half Ironman in April in New Orleans, but right now I'm just going to take it one day at a time and try to lose 15 pounds or so during this BL challenge.
So, I'm looking forward to doing some of the challenges and racking up some points for the team! :cheer2: Goooo Black Team.
Oh, and I love the show BL, but I didn't see it last night. I did DVR it, however, and will watch tonight. :happytv:

Katiemacsmom - Welcome!!!!! - are we twins????? Ok, except for the whole Law school thing - I didn't do that:laughing: BUT - I have struggled with weight all my life, got healthy skinny right after college, Did a Marathon, 1/2 Marathon and several triathlons. Gained A LOT of weight with my pregnancies. Now I have to work really really hard to get skinny again, (about 60 lbs, too ) and I plan on an Ironman in 2012 or 13.
Keep me posted on you 1/2 Ironman training - I know I will be doing one in the next couple of years, and I would love to get training advice.
What training plan are you using for the 1/2 mary? I have one in March, and I am having a hard time deciding. Right now I am planing using the FIRST Run Less Run Faster program - It's 3 days a week of running with 3 days a week of crosstraining, but it has tons of speedwork and that intimidates me.
BL last night - Wow - I was really impressed with the green team. They lost all that weight, at home, by themselves. And I was so glad the police officer got immunity - I so want him to get healthy. My group power instructor kept yelling (jokingly of course) "don't set those weights down unless you are dead" - ala Jillian - today.
Stayed OP today - and I have to find a new route home from the gym. I drive by Wendy's on the way home. I normally don't like Wendy's which makes this even more crazy - but the sign says "Shake Up your Baconator Combo" And then I think about a double bacon cheeseburger and fries with a chocolate shake all the way home. :rotfl:
Did 1 hour group power, then 15 minutes on the inline machine, I was going to do an easy 5k jog, but I upped weight in group power and my legs were tired so, I finished with 30 min. walk.
hope everyone else had a good day too.

Hi, TriMom. Thanks for the welcome. That sooo funny that we have the basically the same interests and the same weight struggles. I'm so glad we're on the same team - yea! :yay: It's awesome to find someone else who loves multisport.
For the 1/2 mary training, I'm using a Hal Higdon plan. This plan is 8 weeks and started last week with a long run of 4 miles (right now I can probably do a long run of 5.5 miles). It is just a "get me across the finish line plan." Our run plans sound alike, though. The one I'm using has 3 runs per week and 3 XT sessions. It doesn't even have any speed work, so I'm totally impressed with you. :worship: The fastest runs in my plan are some tempo runs - most of it's done at long run pace. The last 1/2 mary I ran was in 2003, I think, so I'm not trying to PR or anything - just get the finisher's medal and a bagel.
I see that you're dong the Princess 1/2 mary. Oh, I'm totally jealous. I was just looking at doing that the other day (checking out airfare), but I don't think we can afford to do that along with MVMCP and New Orleans in April for 70.3. :sad1:
For 1/2 Iron training I think I'm going to use a 20 week plan that I'll start in mid-Nov (yikes that's soon). Also, DH is a USAT coach; so, I'll ask him to tweak my plan. I had worked up a pretty good bike/swim base over the summer and was supposed to do the Longhorn 1/2 Iron in Austin on Oct 4, BUT I have an old neck injury (from a car wreck) that flared up after a 45 mile bike ride with about 5 weeks left before my race. I couldn't turn my head for two weeks and had to go to the doc for muscle relaxers. So, my training fell apart, and I'm not doing the race (haven't been on my bike since then, I'm afraid of how my neck will feel in the aero position). I'm just going to start back to bike/swim slowly and keep doing my neck exercises (have you ever seen anybody do "neck-ups"? It's like a sit-up for your neck. I have to do them, and I'm positive that the ppl at the gym think I don't know how to do a sit-up. I look like a fool). :rotfl:
What IM are you interested in? I think I need something flat (hence my goal race is the New Orleans 70.3). I think the Longhorn 70.3 intimidated me a bit because it's so hilly. I’ve ridden some of the course in previous races, but 56 miles of hills doesn't - exactly - appeal to me in my Athena state. So, I'm thinkin' flat for 1/2 and IM. Maybe Florida IM in 2011 (if I can get a spot – it fills up so fast) and then a trip to WDW?? A flat course and a trip to Mickey's house - what more could you want?

Is is a game on the wii fit. It is specially designed so the sound comes from the wii mote and not the TV so you can watch whatever you want while doing it.

I think ti has to be unlocked. It is the the one in the middle on the bottom of the cardio section (I think). it is just you and a metronome and you step how you want as long as you keep time with it. I think it is called Free Step.
As for the weigh in. Don't bank on me helping the team much. I have been so busy this week, food has been grab and go. For example today at lunch I was on a hunt for wedding shoes (yes I know I am a little late on that!), so I stopped in Costco and grabbed a ff frozen yogurt and asked him to fill it half full. He filled it more like 2/3 full (and I ate it all).
I have already planned my schedule for when we get back though. My next milestone is Turkey day and I will be skinnier! :thumbsup2

So, I weighed myself this morning, and I'm down 1.6 kg!!! (that's about 3.5 pounds)
I'm very glad with this, but the only thing I can think about is: just imagine how much more would be gone if I hadn't eaten all that buttercream and hadn't gone to the restaurant on Sunday, and hadn't eaten that lasagna, etc etc etc.

Not sure how that has happened as I have been useless this week!! :rolleyes1 - I think it might be that I weighed in the morning rather than the evening - oh well - at least i've helped the team a bit!!
Go Team!!!! Another good loss!!!
