Nassau Help

I'm looking for something fun to do in Nassau with my DH and DS (4 years old). I have no desire to trek all the way over to Atlantis and not be able to use the pools (nor do I want to pay for a room at the nearby hotel (as mentioned earlier on these posting)) so I've taken that off the list. Has anyone ever been to Fort Charlotte or the Nassau Botanic Gardens/ Nassau zoo? Is it worth it? Any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Also, any other suggestions for sightseeing areas that may be fun would be great. Thanks!!:) :)

We were thinking of the Pirate Museum, but did not make it. We went to the Aquarium at Atlantis and kids were tired after that but it looked interesting.

We took an excursion to Blue Lagoon and swam with dolphins! Everyone in our party loved it, from 10 years old to 50 something years old... It's about a 20 min. boat ride out and it's just beautiful because you get to see a lot of the island on the way out. We actually didn't do this through Disney either, because it was cheaper not to, but we had no problem getting a bus taxi to the dock where the boat takes off. It was one of the most amazing and memorable parts of our trip! Have fun!

We walked over to the Pirate Museum. My son, then 8, loved it. They have a website but I don't know the URL.

I also suggest the Dlophin Encounter if it's in your budget. It is great my Mother & I went and we both loved it.

This trip I search the web and we our doing something on our own. I booked the Seaworld Explorer it's a sub type vehicle that holds 45 people and we each get our own window, It takes you to veiw the coral reefs, I think it's $33.00 per person. Just something different to do.

Thanks for the info. Our excursion sheet that we have to send back to DCL, sayd the excursion to swim with Dolphins is $113 , It looks like it is less expensive than the $145, I will let you know what it entails as soon as I find out. It is a good possibilty that it does not let you actuall swim with the dolphins.

Thanks for the great info. I really like the idea of the Close Encounter for $75.00. I've sent them an e-mail, I'm trying to figure out if you just pay the $75.00 for the child and then $15.00 for each observer. Also, do you have to pay to use the facilities on Blue Lagoon does anyone know?

I think I've answered my own questions using their website. It appears you only have to pay for the child $75.00 and then the two adults can be observers (15.00 each) for the Close Encounter program. The Swim program has different criteria. Also, if you don't purchase a day pass for the Blue Lagoon Island you have to leave on their boat at your designated time.

If you book through Disney, the day pass is included in their price. I tried to find a price to get a day tour pass through Nassau Cruises but their website did not list a price. I think we would just head back to the ship so I'm not pursuing that avenue. The excursion listed in the Shore Excursion brochure appears to refer to the Close Encounter program, not the swim program because it mentions "waist-deep" water, which is what they discuss on the Dolphin Encounter website.
