Hello everyone!

I have been lurking on this board since last September...taking notes...creating my "file" of information for our upcoming Disney Cruise...and am now ready to be an active member on this board.

We are a party of four (myself, DH, DS (will be 5), DD (will be 8)), sailing on the Magic, 7-night Eastern on 11/2/02.

In order to prepare for the cruise (you're reading about an obsessive note-taker here!) I went back a few months on this board and just read (and read...and read) through all of the postings that were applicable to the 7-night sailing. That way, all of my questions were answered even before I tried to ask them!
Between reading this board and the trip reports that are posted, we are certain to make the most of our vacation.

We booked through Dreams last October (found out about Dreams from my son's preschool teacher) and were originally assigned cabin 7003 (cat. 10). I asked for a secret porthole room and at the time none were available. But...low and behold... a few months passed and I received an email that 5520 had opened up ...and did I still want it?! You bet! Needless to say we are thrilled with getting this room.

Our neighbors are also going (Mom, Dad, DS (will be 7), so their son and mine will be happy campers together in the Kids Club (my DD, who will be 8 when we sail, is very excited to be with the "older" group at the Kids Club).

The knowledge/information passed along through this board is amazing and I can't wait to contribute as time passes.

A few notes to throw in:
We were in the Cayman Islands in November of 2000 (great condo on 7-mile beach...Plantana). We went to Stingray Sandbar with Captain Dexter (dexters-fantaseatours.com). Extremely friendly person, small catamaran, hence only 16 people max can sail with him. It was a wonderful excursion!

Our travels have also taken us to Atlantis, October of 1999. For those of you who have any interest in Marine Life (and/or gambling) this resort is not to be missed. Even if you don't have access to the pools, get a map and walk the grounds...it is an unbelievable place.

We are all very excited to be sailling with Disney!
Thank you all for taking the time to post your insights (whether good or bad). Looking forward to your future postings-

Welcome to DIS! We (me & DH) also lurked here for a few months before asking and contributing. As you know there is no question too simple to ask because someone else it probably wondering the same thing!

This board is absolutely the best source of information. I don't know what we would have done with out it.

Thanks for the welcome! It is nice to be on a board that is so friendly.

ILUVTOGO:
In reading an earlier post, it said that the Jersey schools were off a few days the week of our sailing. When I planned our cruise, I was guessing on when parent/teacher conferences would be in the fall...and luckily I guessed right. My daughter will be off 1 1/2 days during our week, so in the end she will only miss 3 1/2 days of school. Since she is so young, I am not really worried about pulling her out of school, but it was nice to know that she wouldn't miss an entire week of school (and we can do the conference when we return).

Thanks again!
