Just a little reminder to PLEASE use the safe in your room no matter where you stay and please do not take being on Disney property for granted. My DH and I always use our safe wherever we stay and always lock up our money, keys, jewlery, etc in the safe provided. My SIL and BIL are members of the DVC and recently used their points to stay in Disney's Vero Beach resort with my DH's nieces. They recently went in August. My SIL keeps an envelope of cash and marks down on the envelope what they take out/spend. In a rush to go to the pool and breakfast one morning, they left everything out, wallets, purses, jewlery, credit cards, etc. The safe was hidden in the back of the closet and didn't see it until it was too late. :sad2:  When they came back, my SIL found $275 taken from the envelope. They contacted the front desk and they came with a special card reader and found that other than my SIL and BIL, the only other one in and out of the room that day was the maid. She was still working, they called the Sheriff's department who came and interrogated her and got her to admit she took the money. They thankfully got their money back as well as a ton of perks from the DVC, the resort itself and Disney but it could have been worse. Jewlery could have been taken, credit cards, etc. My DH is in law enforcement and said my SIL had to learn a valuable lesson the hard way.

Good advice. We use the safe every trip.

Great reminder! We tend to feel overly secure at Disney cause our thoughts don't even remotely go there. Too much good stuff to think about/see/do.

We also use the safe. I actually have my dh check to make sure it is locked and we have the key.

I was surprised to see that a safe was not an option in our room at the CBR. Do any of the other Moderate Resorts have safes in their rooms? Or did we get the one and only "safeless" room?

I've always used the safe at any hotel we're at and after our room was gone through at CBR I doubly make sure to use it.

I was under the assumption EVERY Disney room has a safe. I know we had one when we stayed at CBR in 2005.

I thougt this too....we stayed at CBR this past June & our room had one...(I thought it didn't at 1st)...It was in the wall about chest level behind the privacy curtain that separates the vanity from the sleeping area.:)

I was under that assumption as well, that all hotels had a safe. I know the POFQ has a safe as that is where we always stay. Look around as one poster stated, it could be hidden. That's why my SIL didn't use the safe until it was too late, it was hidden in the back of the closet.

FYI Many times I have observed open doors of occupied rooms, empty, with the housekeeping cart nearby in the hall. Your housekeeper may be multi-tasking and anyone could walk into your room during the housekeeping service. And even if the housekeeper came back in, how would they know that person didn't belong in the room? ALWAYS lock up your valuables and "hide" larger items out of view.

Every CBR room has a safe, but the safe is hidden. In fact, I didn't find it until we were checking out. It is located in the room with the sinks, but hidden behind the privacy curtain:
