We just got back from watching A.J. get his award!

We're so proud of A.J. :love:

51 students were honored. The school has 1,450 students (grades 9-12). Yes Pam, you read that right....1,450 students - one high school for the entire county! :lmao:

Anyway, he got a very nice certificate, a school t-shirt and a gift bag full of goodies like gift certificates to McDonalds, Hardees, etc.

And they had drawn numbers before the award presentation. They called out the winners by seat numbers. A.J. went up when another number was called and I was sooooo embarrassed for him. :blush: But there was a teacher off to the side and she was giving out the gift bags and she didn't miss a beat to get him and she brought him over to the table to "help" her without too much confusion. I could tell he was embarrassed and I felt so bad for him. And then the last number that they called was his number so he did get to go back across the stage to get his gift - for real this time. He won a gift card to a local pharmacy that has a really nice gift shop!

I went up to the teacher after the ceremony and thanked her for helping him out. She said that she was glad to do it and they all keep a special eye out for him.

Before the award ceremony we went out to dinner - the whole family. Plus, my good friend is also a teacher's aide in the Special Ed department and she went to dinner with us and then went to the ceremony with us.

It was a very nice evening!!!

No, it's a ceramic one with a loose-fitting lid. So the root beer had gotten in and gotten the tea bags wet so there was a mixture of rootbeer and tea in the bottom of the canister! :lmao:

I am going to WDW for my BIRTHDAY!!!! my four girlfriends and I (one of whom has the same b-day as me) are going for a three day weekend in Jan!!! Leaving the hubby's and kiddos at home!!! we are staying at one of the girls - mother's condo-- so free lodging!!! and the condo is 8 minutes to AK's front gate. Not a bad deal... now just hoping for some of the airfare to go down.

I had him pose with his brothers outside the auditorium holding his certificate and right before I snapped his picture one of the teachers - the assistant football coach - walked up behind him and put up his fingers for rabbit ears! :rotfl: The boys never saw him, but I snapped the picture!

I've done this before too when I've had to work when the kids were so young-They had to stay in their rooms until I came home-watched them unwrap everything and then headed to bed so I could head back to work in 10 hrs-fun fun-NOT!

I had a terrible drive into work. I spun out in a downhill, hairpin turn - I've never done that in DH's truck before. I was so scared. But thank God I didn't hit anything! I was so lucky! The roads are all clear now.

I didn't get nearly as much Christmas shopping done as I had hoped! But I did get two people who are very hard to shop for (my Godson and his sister) completely done! :cool1:

And I did get the centerpieces for the fire department Christmas parrty - that's a big stress relief!

And it was so beautiful over there! Yesterday I wore a t-shirt and no jacket! They had highs in the 40's and it was bright and sunny. They still have trees with bright colors! Here it was only in the teens and windy and cloudy! And almost all of our trees have lost their leaves!

Kids have another snow day!

I left work at 9:30 last night and it was just starting to flurry. Went to bed around 11:30 and it was still flurrying. My phone rang at 5:30 a.m. and it was my friend telling me that there was no school. (Whichever one of us finds out first calls the other. :teeth:) I looked out and we had about 3"! Now we have at least 4" and it's pouring the snow! At least the snow plow has been by once and the roads have been treated so hopefully the drive to work won't be as rough as Tuesday!

Than they told me the price of the repair and that it will take a week to do it.:scared1: :scared: :guilty: So now I am poor again, and have no car until Wednesday or Friday. DH is having to take me everywhere. It really sucks not to have a car and be able to go and do anything you want when you want.

Although I could get used to him driving me to work everyday. I am trying to find a bright side to this mess.
