Hello everyone! I read through countless dining reviews while planning for our 8 night/9 day Disneymoon, and we just returned home today so we wanted to continue the magic by starting our dining reviews!

Who's we?

http://lh3.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SMdCwqhR8rI/AAAAAAAADLo/IZa0liW7gWk/MonDan1.jpg

Me: Monica, 23, the bride! I am a meat and potatoes kind of gal, and I despise seafood and I hate trying new things when it comes to food. I have my faves, and I tend to stick to them. I love dessert and all things sweet, so to save calories I order water or diet coke. No use in drinkin' calories when you can EAT them!

DH: Daniel, 26, the groom! He loves to eat and will eat anything. I guess he is the opposite of me. Daniel has a love of seafood and is always interested in trying new dishes and flavors. He refused to help me plan the activities in the park, but he sure was vocal about the ADRs...sort of. While planning for our Disneymoon, I tried...I begged...I pleaded with him to look at menus and help me plan it all out.

"Whatever you want," he says.

Lies, all lies!! :sad2:

Here's what my ADRs were BEFORE we got to Disney:
-Sci-Fi Dine In Theater
-1900 Park Fare
-Le Cellier
-Chef Mickey's
-Kona
-Crystal Palace
-50's Prime Time Cafe
-Tutto Italia
-Planet Hollywood

Links will be added as each review is completed:
Here's what they ended up being once we got there:

More on the drastic changes as we embark on our gluttony filled reviews.

-Min & Bill's Dockside
-Cocktail in France
-Club Cool (not really a snack...)

Daniel will be typing up his own reviews because I "am not funny nor witty enough to accurately portray his opinions."

Bite me, honey. :rotfl:

Daniel didn't gain any weight, and I gained 1 lbs. Thank goodness for all the walking!

I did take pictures of all the food, although I got many weird looks. I tried to ignore them because I knew the importance of taking pictures. You all appreciate it, right?

Let's get started with the culinary porn! :woohoo:

Up first: Sci-Fi Dine In Theater!

Oh, and on a side note of sorts...

The quote I used as our thread title was said by Daniel after one of our meals...to see which one, stay tuned!

Also, a bit more background:

We were on the regular dining plan (free!) from September 1-9, 2008 and we stayed at All Star Music in Jazz Inn 2.

We cannot imagine being on the deluxe dining plan! We thought there was way too much food on this dining plan, and we did end up sharing a few counter service meals, and we used most of our snacks credits on breakfast or water.

Monica's Review:

Soooo, I have read many reviews that say you pretty much go to the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater for the atmosphere and to stick to shakes/burgers. I figured these were really picky people who take food too seriously.

I was wrong.

We enter the restaurant about 30 minutes before our ADR time because we just got off a plane and we're hungry. I politely ask the cast member if we could be seated any earlier, and he cheerfully says yes. Another lady comes up and asks the same thing but in a rude manner, and he says she has to wait until her ADR time. Point of my story- be nice! :)

Then a nice lady comes and calls out our names and shows us the "pit stop" (Daniel was confused by this...but then gets it after he sees the car...insert light bulb here) and we head to our car. We get seated in the back seat (are they insinuating something since we're newlyweds?) and immediately after a family of 4 gets seated in the front 2 rows of the car. The boys begin yelling and the parents look flustered.

We sit there and look at the menu. We sit there some more. We start counting the number of cars. We slowly start to lose feeling in our toes...it's super cold in this place!

And we sit some more (get my drift...)

Then we try to listen to the "movies" playing on the screen, but we're way in the back and it's hard to hear over all the noise, and I am shivering. Daniel is saying something along the lines of, "Why did you pick this place?"

Um, you could have looked at the menus too?!

Finally a waitress comes over and takes the drink orders of the family in front of us. The kids cannot decide what they want to drink, I am getting antsy. I am impatient- I admit it.

Ashley (waitress) then brings the kiddos their drinks and their parents their alcoholic beverages (I can see why they need it), and finally takes our drink orders.

I get a diet cherry vanilla coke (don't want to waste too many calories, my meal should be good), and Daniel orders a light raspberry lemonade.

About 5 minutes later we get our drinks, and finally we order. At this point I have stage 1 of hypothermia. Okay, so I am a drama queen, sue me.

About 3 minutes later we get our food. YAY!! :thumbsup2

Wrong.

:confused3

Our food was about the same temperature as the restaurant- COLD!!

What did I order?

Smoked Baby Back Ribs - Basted with barbecue sauce served with cole slaw and a choice of cucumber-melon salad or french fries $18.99

I chose the french fries.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SL4ETStCakI/AAAAAAAACIw/e2VOYAcFJxM/s720/Disney%20032.JPG

The ribs were okay. Nothing great, nothing terrible except that they were cold. Very cold. I'm talkin' not even warm. Fries were typical french fries, but cold. Coleslaw- to be fair I don't like any coleslaw so I am leaving this out of the equation.

I am so hungry I eat it all without any complaints and she refills my diet coke about 3 times. Service is great, food not so much.

Next up is dessert- I ordered the apple crisp tart.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SL4EYU5OwbI/AAAAAAAACJA/FLtUiu-MVl8/s720/Disney%20034.JPG

It was ridiculously HOT! I took a bite and nearly scorched my tongue off. If only they would heat the rest of their food as much as they heated the apple crisp tart I would have been happy. Right about now I was feeling really cold yet my mouth was on fire. Peachy.

The portion was good, the service was good, but sadly the food was terribly cold. Also, during our food adventures later on in the trip we saw plenty of counter service ribs/fries that looked much better than ours did.

Overall, Sci-Fi gets 2 out of 10 stars. The 2 stars are merely for service. Waste of a table service, the atmosphere wasn't even all that great, and it was just flat out disappointing.

TOTAL
DDP- 2 table service credits
Cash Cost- $58.73

Summary: Overrated

Up next, Daniel's review of Sci-Fi!

We love Sci-Fi, but I always order a burger and fries. My wife likes the blue cheese steak salad and the onion rings.
I think that sticking to basic food items at Sci-Fi is a good idea as the kitchen seems to be able to handle that better. Sad, because the atmosphere is awesome! Too bad the food doesn't live up to that.

Oh..and I totally agree with Monica (my name is Monika, btw ;) ) Sci-Fi is FREEZING! We went in June, when it was hotter than the surface of the sun outside. Inside Sci-Fi, I wanted a coat!

Yeah Sci-Fi seems to be a hit or miss type of place. I would say if you absolutely must go there, have low expectations!

Finally Daniel types up his review... :surfweb:

Here it is!

The Sci-Fi Theater Drive-in Diner played host to the first of our table service meals at Disney. Monica and I had a very short wait before being seated in the back of an old muscle behind a family of four. It felt awkward being seated so close to strangers, but that feeling soon wore off as the restaurant was very loud. The restaurant was also quite chilly, making me regret the flip-flops I’d chosen to wear. Oh well.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SL4EV3M5ADI/AAAAAAAACI4/vGyotVsonxk/s512/Disney%20033.JPG
My plate.

The menu for the Sci-Fi was pretty vanilla, featuring sandwiches, burgers and chuck steaks. It also included ribs, which is what I chose as my entrée. To compliment my ribs, I ordered a cucumber melon salad to be served along with some coleslaw. The ribs lacked the “ooh and ahh” power of ribs ordered at other restaurants, but the meat was tender and the flavor was good. The salad and slaw were both good as well, which is surprising because I don’t think I’ve ever found coleslaw I’ve liked, but I ate most of this one. I washed down my meal with a refreshing raspberry lemonade.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SL4Eakaet0I/AAAAAAAACJI/UF69GhD1SLk/s512/Disney%20035.JPG
My dessert.

After dinner, we were treated to a tasty dessert. I chose a basic cheesecake as the other choices didn’t interest me. It wasn’t the best cheesecake, but it sufficed. The meal as a whole was ok. The food was brought out quickly and our server was adequate. However, we went into the meal at the Sci-Fi with high expectations which were not necessarily met. I scored the meal as follows:

Taste
7

Originality
2

Service
7

So, the Sci-Fi, our first meal in Disney, earned a 16 on the 30 point scale I devised. Is the scale similar to Iron Chef’s? Of course. Bite me. Next up, I’ll review a table service meal that will flirt with a score of 30. :wizard:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SL4Eb798qaI/AAAAAAAACJQ/b-OARMRQuPQ/s512/Disney%20036.JPG
Get us out of here, we're freezing!

Monica's Notes: Hold up...when did we change from a scale of 1-10 to the Iron Chef system of 30?! Thanks for letting me know.

So here's my score on the new Daniel-devised-point-system-stolen-from Food-Network:

Taste: 5
Originality: 2
Service: 8

15/30

On Tuesday Daniel and I got up bright and early to head out to Epcot for morning Extra Magic Hours (EMH). We decided to try and find some sort of breakfast place in Epcot to eat at. I pulled up the confirmed snack thread from the dining board, but didn't see anything yummy for breakfast. Then I grabbed an Epcot brochure and looked for the B (B for breakfast) and found that Sunshine Seasons serves breakfast.

Well, it can wait.

We went to Mission Space and Test Track first, and then started to venture into the other side of the park to look for Sunshine Seasons.

We couldn't find it. I'm getting frustrated. I have adult ADD (not really, but seems like it...oh look, a squirrel!) and see a sign for Soarin. Well, we go in and there it is...Sunshine Seasons!

Daniel and I decide to share a breakfast to save a CS credit and to not be too stuffed for our ADR at noon over at Tutto Italia. We decide on the bacon, egg and cheese croissant.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SL4F81WY9JI/AAAAAAAACPI/KNosTjB2RAY/s512/Disney%20081.JPG
Yummy!

We walk up to the cashier and the CM tells us to get another drink and to go grab a cookie. I say, "I don't want a cookie." He says, "It's free because of your Just Married button."

Don't have to tell me twice... I go get the free cookie and extra drink. While sitting down, Daniel and I talk about how exciting it is to get a free drink and cookie (we're easy to please). Well, turns out we were entitled to get 2 drinks for breakfast on the dining plan, but we still did get a free cookie, so yay!!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SL4F_dkZKAI/AAAAAAAACPQ/RpOXUU-n-6Q/s512/Disney%20082.JPG
FREE!

We split the croissant and I really liked it! It wasn't too greasy and I did think the portion was big enough to share. I had a diet coke (keeping with my no drinking of calories theory) and then we also split the cookie. The cookie was moist and chocolatey and free! Free=delicious (most of the time).

Overall, my scoring on the Daniel/Food Network scale is as follows:

Taste: 7
Originality: 4
Service: 7 (hard to rate this one at a CS, but the CM/cashier was friendly, guy at the bakery was not a morning person)

Total: 18/30

Cost:
1 CS credit
1 Just Married Button/1 Wedding
Cash Cost: $14.00 (including cookie)

Funny story today...

We finally came back home today after being at my mom's since Tuesday. We decide to go out to eat, and at the checkout stand I almost give him my Disney KTTW card.

How funny would that have been!

"Just charge it to my room!"

How sad it is to have to pay for meals again.

Daniel's Sunshine Seasons Review:

Breakfast at Sunshine Seasons was okay. It wasn’t spectacular food, but it got the job done. The service was good, and we were treated to a complimentary cookie. That’s about all there is to it. Nothing great. Nothing bad. I’d eat there again if nearby, but wouldn’t make it a priority.

Daniel's Tutto Italia Review:

http://lh3.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SMarNHOoXAI/AAAAAAAACcw/-u4AbhoBRrg/s720/Disney%20165.JPG

I would make dining at Tutto Italia a high priority. Tutto served up authentic Italian cuisine served by charming, authentic Italians. I dined on Tagliolini con Granchio, Pomodorini Alle Erbe – or tagliolini pasta topped with crabmeat, sweet tomato and garlic. It was incredible. The pasta was lightly tossed with sauce, and was very delicate. The tomato and garlic added a wonderful sweetness to the dish, and the lump crab meat simply put things over the top. The service was wonderful at Tutto, and our food was delivered promptly and served nice and hot.

To end my meal, I had a delightful cinnamon ricotta cheesecake. The meal was as close to perfection as I’ve ever had in a restaurant. At least so far…

Monica's Tutto Italia Review:

I love Italian food. And by Italian food, I mean Olive Garden. This is all I know. I know it is generic, but it is cheap and yummy. Tutto Italia is expensive and supposedly yummy, so I book the ADR.

We arrive for our ADR about 15 minutes early, but we are immediately seated. Our server is Antonella and she is from Sicily. She has a lovely accent, but honestly she talks fast and I cannot tell what she says. We chat a bit, and we tell her we're from Texas, and she says she wants to go to school in either Houston, Austin, or San Antonio. Having lived in 2 of the 3, I gave her some tidbits about each city. She goes and gets us our diet cokes (she adds a lemon wedge to it- I love it!), and a gentlemen named Andrea brings us some bread, mediterranean veggies, and some olive oil. Oh, and some herb butter....I loved the butter. I could eat it by itself if I had to.

Thank God. I was hungry. Remember I had half a cookie and half a croissant for breakfast, and Italy is really far from Soarin. You walk through like 5 countries to get to Italy.

The bread is delicious. It's an assortment of breads. I don't think I got a picture of the bread basket, but it's bread. You've seen it before.

I ordered the Lasagna al Forno with meat ragu, bechamel and parmesan.

I expected a not-so-impressive lasagna type of entree, but this lasagna was truly better and different than any I have EVER had.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SMarNbHcAFI/AAAAAAAACc4/i5cMPasyOvU/s720/Disney%20166.JPG

For starters, the portion is massive. There was no way I could finish this after having all that bread. Second, it is creamy. Not cheesy, but creamy. I can't quite explain it. It's wonderful! It's so wonderfully cheesy and creamy that it should be served with a side of Exlax because you'll need it if you get my drift.

My only complaint is the meat ragu. I didn't like it. To me it had a weird onion like after taste, so I kind of pushed the meat off to the side. Here's how much I had left, or how much I ate depending on how you view the world.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SMarNt7jWPI/AAAAAAAACdA/Cji0pKPF1_g/s720/Disney%20167.JPG

Andrea stops by to get our plates out of the way and I notice he is from Milan, Italy. So I ask him about fashion shows and he giggles. He's darn cute. I wish I could have brought him home with me...I mean us. Yeah, us.

Love you Daniel.

Then came dessert.

HEAVEN!

http://lh4.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SMarOBgt7WI/AAAAAAAACdQ/AcR7Lgs6GOE/s512/Disney%20169.JPG

I ordered the Copetta Sotto Bosco - berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce $14.00

Best thing I have ever tasted in the dessert world. The berries were fresh and sweet yet tart. The gelato was cold and creamy- full of flavor. Topped with whipped cream and chocolate...I want to have this daily. For breakfast. It was also served with some little cookies...so tasty! I cannot rave enough about this dessert. You get a lot of dessert compared to the other dessert options. You get some berries, some gelato, some chocolate, and some cookies. :goodvibes

Overall, Tutto Italia was an awesome experience. Our food came out quickly and piping hot, the service was outstanding, and we cannot say enough nice things about it. I have read that many people feel rushed at Tutto Italia, and I can see where one would feel that way. We didn't feel that way at all because the servers were welcoming and attentive.

My score:

Taste- 8
Originality- 8
Service- 10

26/30

Cost:
2 TS credits
Cash Cost: $78.33

We would definitely only eat here on the DDP though. Otherwise, I do think it is a smidge expensive. My dessert was almost as much as my entree! Also, since the bread basket is included, it's sort of like getting a free appetizer. :wizard:

Hey, enjoying the great reviews so far.
We ate at Tutto 2 weeks ago and LOVED it!! I also got the Lasagna and it was so darn good that I actually schlepped my leftovers back to the Wilderness Lodge and attempted to reheat them the next day in the microwave there. Needless to say, that Lasagna is designed to be enjoyed FRESH. It lacked big-time on Day 2. Oh well, it was worth a shot as the portion was GI-NORMOUS!

Okay so Daniel is MIA, and I will write his review so we can continue.

Wolfgang Puck Express

I had been looking forward to WPE since I read about it last November when I joined the boards. It seemed like a great value with or without the DDP, so I made it a must-do for our trip.

We got home from Epcot, and we change and wait for a bus to Downtown Disney. The wait is ridiculous! It's about 4 buses until we're finally able to get on, and I am being smothered by girls in short dresses and too much perfume.

After 45 minutes we get to DTD (why does it take so long to get to DTD?!), and we get off at the Marketplace bus stop, and there it is...Wolfgang Puck Express!

The line is really long, but this gives us time to look around- it's a nice place, and the smell is incredible. The menu is also impressive- there are so many things I want to try!!

Daniel settles on the Rigatoni with Chicken Bolognese - all natural chicken bolognese topped with Grana Padano Parmesan $12.95

I choose the Meatball and Parmesan - Niman Ranch meatballs, fresh basil pesto, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, tomato-basil garlic sauce and fresh basil $10.95

For dessert we both chose creme brulee and we both have diet cokes.

The dining room was really crowded, so we get a table outside since it is about 8 p.m. and it's not hot anymore. Daniel and I enjoy sitting outside and talking about our exciting day at Epcot. The people around us must have been really annoyed by our giggling and excitement, but we couldn't contain ourselves. Our dream of going to WDW had finally come true. Who wouldn't be happy?

Our food comes in about 10 minutes, which is nice considering at WDW restaurants your food comes really fast.

Daniel's Plate:
http://lh6.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SMasqXtelYI/AAAAAAAAC9k/jzBXvqubz-8/s800/100_1854.JPG

His plate came with a side salad, which I tried and didn't like much. I don't like sweet/tart dressings though. I didn't try his pasta because I had a huge pizza to tackle.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SMasqJr73gI/AAAAAAAAC9c/I5-NGZmL-Nk/s800/100_1853.JPG

Best pizza I have ever had! The meatballs had so much flavor and they were juicy. The cheese was also very creamy and not chewy like some pizzas can be. The sauce...yum...I could eat the sauce by itself. I got so excited I ate almost a whole slice before remembering to take a picture. Sorry!

When the pizza came out, I thought to myself, "There's no way I could finish this."

Wrong. I ate all of it minus the 1 piece I gave to Daniel. It was THAT good.

The portion is huge. I was expecting a small, personal pizza type of thing.

Daniel wasn't too impressed with his pasta dish because of how much he loved lunch at Tutto Italia.

And this is the moment where everything changes:

Daniel: "Tutto was good"

Me: <mouthful of pizza> "Yup"

Daniel: "Sci-Fi was bad"

Me: <mouthful of diet coke> "Mmm hmmm"

Daniel: "Where are our other ADRs?"

Me: <puts down glass> "Why?"

Daniel: "Well, Tutto was so good, I don't want to have bad meals."

Me: "This is why you should have looked at the menus and reviews before our trip like I asked you to." hhmm, where's our dessert

Daniel: "So, where are our ADRs at."

I go through the list and what they offer, and he changes most of them. This is why our ADRs changed so much. Hopefully he learned his darn lesson.

The server brings our creme brulee:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SMasqnLEpAI/AAAAAAAAC9s/GxvNDF_dqvk/s800/100_1855.JPG

It is a generous portion, and it is perfect! I am really picky about creme brulee because it can be over/underdone, but not this one.

Overall, WPE is a must-do on every trip. Though it is counter-service, the server brings you your food and refills your drinks. The quality of the food is outstanding, and I wish I could eat there daily. WPE was better than some of our TS meals.

The conversation you had at WPE about ADRs was exactly like the one I had with DH back in April when we were there for 8 days. He wanted nothing to do with the planning but once we get there he tries to mess everything up!

Now I have him trained....he is to sit down with me and go over the menus throroughly and give me his imput not just tune me out and say whatever you want is fine....because yes that is easier for me upfront but it bites me in the butt 6 months later when we are on our trip! :rotfl2:

Ah day 3...

I get up and weigh myself. How? I took my scale with me to WDW. I am paranoid about such things, and I weigh myself daily.

I'm a weirdo.

I'm up like 6 ounces, so I am happy with that number. Could be worse considering all that cheese from Day 2.

Day 3 is Animal Kingdom day, and we're exhausted from Day 2, so we sort of sleep in and have breakfast at the ASMu food court.

It's insanely crowded! It always feels like all ASMu guests decided to eat at the same time or something. They have a lot of lines open, so we don't have to wait very long.

We (by we I mean, I) decided to have what we had at Sunshine Seasons- the bacon, egg, and cheese croissant. Again, we decide to share because it will be lunch time soon, and we are planning to eat at Flametree BBQ. We both decide to avoid cheese this day since the gift shop doesn't sell Metamucil or Exlax... TMI, I know, but we're all friends by now.

Here's the picture of our breakfast- we got a diet coke and a bottle of water to take to the parks:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/Monica20039/SL4F81WY9JI/AAAAAAAACPI/KNosTjB2RAY/s512/Disney%20081.JPG

Continuing with Day 3...

We go to the Animal Kingdom and we run around doing fun stuff, and for lunch we end up at Flametree BBQ.

Now, I am a Texas girl. I have had BBQ many times, and I love it. So yummy, so smoky, so filling...Flametree was none of that.

Well, folks, here's the review of the worse meal of our entire trip.

We're hungry, and we're waiting in line at Flametree BBQ. I take this time to gawk over people's plates to try and decide what to order. I am torn between the fruit plate (no protein though), the chicken, or the BBQ sandwich. Daniel is debating between pork or beef bbq sandwich. Finally, we get up to the front and order.

I ended up choosing the chicken plate with baked beans and corn muffin, with a diet coke, and key lime pie:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney201.jpg

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney053.jpg

Daniel chose the pulled pork sandwich, beans, water, and for dessert a frozen lemonade:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney103.jpg

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney082.jpg

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney078.jpg

May I take this moment to comment on the cardboard straws? I think it's genius! Great way to help the environment and protect the various animals wandering around the park.

Okay, back to the food.

My chicken was awful! The outside was greasy (I don't eat the skin, but it's still really greasy), and it's dry. The inside portion of the chicken is very cold, and you can't complain to the restaurant because they have a sign up about their "smoking technique" or something. I didn't even want to bother. The BBQ sauce tastes like straight up vinegar. My beans are super hard and super cold. The highlight of my entree was the corn muffin. It was mighty tasty, and I thought it was impressive for counter service cornbread.

I ask Daniel how his entree is:

Me: "How is your sandwich?"

Daniel: "I don't think it's pork."

Me: "Did they give you the turkey sandwich by mistake?" <trying to chew my rubber chicken>

Daniel: "Um...no."

Me: "Hhhmm..." <wash down with diet coke>

Daniel: "I think it's a combination of potted meat and Spam."

Me: "Seriously?" <my stomach turns a little>

Daniel: "Yeah, wanna try it?"

Me: "I'll pass." <debates on whether or not to throw something at Daniel for asking>

Daniel: "Can I have your beans?"

Me: "Take 'em"

Now I know many people love Flametree BBQ, but we will not go back. We have plenty of good BBQ in our neck of the woods, so next time we will skip this for sure.

My key lime pie was good, nothing outstanding, and Daniel thought the frozen lemonade was too sweet, but overall okay. However, Daniel did really like the beans, but I think this is only because of the fiber content...TMI again, I know. I don't hold back, people. I tell it like it is.

Excellent reviews so far-- love the double review!

I know how you feel about being the one who makes the ADRs, checking the menus, etc... Luckily tho my DBF will eat most anything so we didn't need to change. Plus I tell him one item on the menu I'll think he'll like...just to make sure he'll find something.

Also about the exlax...that would be the joy of a bechamel sauce: butter and flour made into a rouix and then lots and lots of cream = not happy tummy.

I too am a friend of the calorie free drinking---except for alcohol ;) However hate to burst your bubble, but the cherry and vanilla syrups at Sci Fi and 50's PTC are most definitely not sugar free, and thus calorie free. But hey you're on vacation. Don't sweat the small stuff! :flower3: Plus if you gain that weight that quickly, you'd most likely lose it that quickly as well when you go back to your normal way of life.

Can't wait for more! :surfweb:

After we ate at Flame Tree we stuck around the AK to do some more rides, but eventually I thought about something interesting...

We've been to every park BUT the Magic Kingdom!! ::MickeyMo

We rush out of the park and onto a bus to the TTC and then a monorail to the MK.

YAY!! Now I feel like I am at Disney World.

At about 8 p.m. my MK high wears down and I am starving!

We're by Splash Mountain, and I have read about the fixin's bar at Pecos Bill so we head that way.

The menu is pretty basic, but a burger sure sounds good to the both of us.

I order the 1/4-Pound Cheeseburger - served with your choice of fries or apple slices $6.09

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney090.jpg

Daniel orders the Bacon Double Cheeseburger - served with your choice of french fries or apple slices $7.59

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney149.jpg

We're both pigs and order fries. We're on vacation...but with a diet coke. Let's not get too crazy alright?

I go cheese happy at the fixins bar. Who needs ketchup when you have free cheese?! :yay:

Oh, I forgot...we did order dessert too, of course.

I ordered the carrot cake that was on the menu, and I got this:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney127.jpg

Is it carrot cake gone bad? Nope, it's chocolate cake. Apparently they ran out of carrot cake, so that's what they gave me.

The burger, to me, was good. Not the best I have ever had, but it's a fast food burger. We have another burger later in the week that tops Pecos Bill though, can't say from where just yet... I love the fries though! They're fresh, crispy, and I can put CHEESE on them! The fixins bar makes me a happy camper, and the dining room is clean and nice. It was kind of dim and dark in there, and there were soooo many tables that it wasn't crowded. My chocolate cake was pretty good. The frosting was too thick and rich for my taste, so I just scraped it off for the most part. Moist cake!

Daniel says the burger was pretty good. The bacon was crispy and thick, not half cooked and film like the way bacon can be sometimes on fast food. The fixins bar made it very nice, and he liked being able to control the amount of toppings on his burger. He loves lots of tomato and pickles, but little lettuce. For dessert he got the strawberry yogurt, which was light Yoplait yogurt. No pic of that, you all know what it looks like.

And here's an added review: A group of girls sat next to us and they ordered the taco salad and they were complaining about how terrible it was. It looked pretty bad, but I didn't taste it. That'd be awkward... I'd imagine it'd go something like this:

Me: "Can I taste your taco salad?"

Girl: "Um, do I know you?"

Me: "It would greatly benefit the DIS boards if you'd let me."

Girl: <picks up tray of food and moves>

But anyway, just thought I'd mention the taco salad comments we heard.

:rotfl2:

LOve the review OP! I'm so debating Sci Fi but that's like the only place in DHS that people say is good!

My DH does not care where he eats. He will eat ANYTHING. LOL I'm not lying people. And rarely if ever complains. Even if he doesn't like something he will finish it off and then I ask how was it and he will say "Eh it wasn't all that."

I have a GF whose DH is the pickiest man EVER! Seriously he is worst than her toddler! I don't know how she deals with him. He eats like 4 different things and that is ALL.

Your hubby sounds like mine! I've tried and tried to get him to look at menus and all I hear is "I'll find something wherever we go. I'll eat anything." And he means it too! He very rarely complains about food - it would have to be downright horrible for him to make a fuss at all. I guess that's a good thing, but on the flip side he doesn't get excited over food like I do either! LOL!

To him, food is just a necessity, nothing to get too worked up over. For me, food is a dream come true . . . good food anyway!

Yes!!! Yes!! Yes!!! LOL

I just told him I'm having fun planning and he said good. Then I asked him if he wanted to know about the restaurants and he said "Nope...don't bother me with that...you make the reservations and I'll show up and eat." :rotfl2:

Now I will say the first time we went we didn't know about character meals. Last time I booked CP, Tusker House and Garden Grill. He wasn't too pleased with spending the money. :headache: But then got excited since Pooh is his favorite ever. CP was our first because I knew I had to ease him in. Then he wasn't pleased with a BF ADR at Tusker house. But ate almost 4 plates!!!!!!!! :scared1: DH and DS are NOT morning people. For the parks yes... but rushing off for an AM ADR not so much. He prefers dinner ADR's so I booked almost all of them for dinner.

I do wish he was more excited but he doesn't get excited until we get there.

Now wiht this review...to do Sci Fi or not. :confused3

As you all may have guessed by now, I am a huge fan of AM EMH because it's rare that people will get up that early, but you can almost count on people staying late (especially when it's nice, cool, and dark outside).

So, we went to MK AM EMH. There was WAY more people at MK EMH than at the Epcot ones, but there were lots of families with really young kiddos, therefore the rides we like weren't crowded at all. Much like our previous day at Epcot (Day 2), I can run off adrenaline until my tummy starts to growl.

We get off Space Mountain and here's another one of our interesting conversations:

Daniel: I'm hungry.

Me: Makes 2 of us.

Daniel: Let's go to Pooh's Palace.

Me: Um, you mean the Crystal Palace? You also mean the ADR I canceled because Prince Daniel thought the food was too "pedestrian" (yup, I quote- pedestrian) for your refined palette. <silently cursing that I made the Tutto ADR so early in our trip and Daniel now thinks he's a culinary connoisseur>

Daniel: :confused3

Me: :sad2:

We walk over to Pooh's Palace as he now calls it, and we are informed that there will be 1-2 hour wait for this "pedestrian" establishment

Me: Yeah, now it's filled with PEDESTRIANS eating!! <throws wedding band in bushes (j/k I wanted to add dramatic flair)>

Daniel: Well, figure out where else to eat breakfast.

Me: I HAD figured out where to eat until you...bah! We'll go to the bakery.

The line is really long, but it goes by fast, and luckily there's a couple arguing about their children in front of us and I am entertained the whole time.

We order, and the portions are HUGE!! It's not by any means a healthy nor hearty breakfast, but the sheer bulk of it should satisfy you for awhile.

I love apples in pastries (ya know, it makes it healthy, counts as a fruit serving) :rotfl2:

I order the apple charlotte:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney166.jpg

Daniel continues the healthy breakfast trend and orders the apple turnover:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney128.jpg

Mine was delicious! While it was sweet, it wasn't over-the-top sweet and it wasn't a glazed doughnut, so I felt it was a "fancy" choice.

Daniel said his turnover must have weighed a pound- there were a lot of apples, and he said it was more than filling.

We skipped the diet coke here, and paid OOP for some water.

Where did I leave off...oh, so we're at the MK and we have breakfast at the Main Street Bakery. We walk around some more, and eventually I am HUNGRY! I am a gal who needs protein more than carbs. None of the table service places in MK appeal to us, so we decide to hope on the boat to the Grand Floridian.

The boat ride is short and relaxing. We get off the boat and wander around the GF a bit. I don't understand why it's the most expensive resort- sorry GF lovers. It's very nice, don't get me wrong, but I don't understand why it costs so much. Well, I guess it's the location.

Anyway- we walk by the pool and see a lady in a swimsuit thong. Isn't it a family park/resort? Daniel and I came to the conclusion that it wasn't meant to be a thong...it just happened to fit her that way.

Finally we get to the GF Cafe, and I get intimidated. I know it's free dining and that it's all paid for, but I freak out for a moment. Daniel asks if there's any availability for lunch, and the place is nearly empty except for a wedding reception, so we are seated promptly. I look around and feel like I am at a Luby's circa 1995.

Our waitress comes and gets our drink order- we both order unsweet tea to change it up a bit. About 15 minutes later she comes and gets our food order- we both decide on the NY Strip Steak with Mashed Potatoes and seasonal Vegetables $20.99.

Our food comes out very quickly, which is a trend at most WDW restaurants or so we think.

And here it is:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney075.jpg

It. Was. Delicious.

Perfectly cooked, the mashed potatoes were buttery and creamy, the steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I didn't expect much from the GF Cafe, and to be honest I never thought we'd eat here on our trip, but I am glad we did.

So, we're eating and we're done. And we're done some more. I look around for our waitress so we could order dessert and get our table cleared and I FINALLY spot her- she's the waitress for the wedding reception! I think to be fair to the wedding party, they should have had a dedicated waitress/server. We don't get mad or antsy, we think they should have great service more than we should...but still.

They bring us a dessert menu and I decided on the Chocolate Fondue - Dark Chocolate Ganache with Fruit $6.99, because fruit is healthy. Yeah.

Daniel decides on the New York-style Lemon Cheesecake - $3.29

A comment about the prices- this restaurant is UNDER priced, I think. I know it's called a cafe, but I really think the prices are very reasonable if not inexpensive.

Here are the beautiful desserts!!

Mine:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney088.jpg

Daniel's:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney106.jpg

I think Daniel's is adorable. I told him, "You can't eat Mickey!!"

Daniel: "Get in my belly!!"

Just then some people turn around and look at us funny. :confused3

:cool1:

My dessert was AMAZING! The chocolate was warm and gooey and it had a rich yet light flavor. The fruit was picture perfect and tasted fantastic. And it's just so fun to eat this dessert!

Daniel loved his dessert as well, and he thought the portion was perfect considering he ate a huge steak, but he was really impressed with the presentation. There were gold Mickey silhouettes on the chocolate piece above the cheesecake, as well as the raspberry Mickey head on the side.

Just as we are about to undo our top button (hey, we saw thongs, tact is out the window :rotfl2: ) the beautiful flower girl comes to our table to give us some wedding cake because they had a lot leftover.

We are so full.

We so eat it.

Daniel doesn't care for it, I think it's tasty. The cake is moist, the icing is fluffy, the filling is creamy...no complaints here. Other diners also got a free piece of wedding cake. We all then promptly rolled to our resorts... or felt like we should. How could we walk after all this food?!

Overall, I think if none of the TS places at MK suit your fancy, it is worth the boat ride to go to the GF Cafe. The portions are generous, it's a nice atmosphere, not crowded at all. And the food is delicious!

After GFC we went to sleep. Yup, sleep. After we got on the boat and went back to the MK, we could barely keep our eyes open. The effect of steak on us humans is quite interesting. We go to ASMu and take a nap...til 9 pm. We "napped" from 3-9 p.m.

Thanks GFC!

We wake up and we're still pretty full, so we split a CS meal at ASMu food court. We split a double cheeseburger, fries, and fruit salad.

This review is going to be rather boring, so I'll just be brief. This burger was better than Pecos Bill because it had a nice chargrilled taste to it that we both love- almost as good as a Dairy Queen burger. Even splitting it we were more than fine because of the huge meal from GFC.

Fruit salad was great- the fruit all tasted good and fresh, which is rare in packaged fruit salads.

Today we decide to go to DHS, and there aren't any breakfast places that interest us. We decide to split a breakfast platter from ASMu food court.

Actually, by we, I mean Daniel. I wanted another croissant like the previous days, but he wants the darn breakfast platter.

The sausage was NASTY. I mean like inedible gross. Daniel eats anything though, so he ate the whole darn thing. Bleh.

Remember when I said: "Overall not a bad meal, and we both were full and happy to go to DHS," in my previous post?

I lied. By about 10:30 am at DHS I was hungry and grouchy. I whip out my iPhone and pull up the confirmed snack thread, and try to see what I would like from DHS as a snack.

I find an apple cinnamon dessert pretzel and I get so excited. It's at Min and Bill's Dockside, and I look at my handy dandy DHS map...um...hhmmm...uhhh...I don't see Min and Bill's Dockside listed anywhere!

Daniel: What are you looking for?

Me: Nothing. <turning map sideways and upside down>

Daniel: It looks like you're looking for something.

Me: Takes one to know one! <making funny confused face>

Daniel: What?!

Me: Oh, go to Pooh's Palace and leave me alone. <see what I mean by grouchy?>

Daniel: Monica, what are you looking for?

Me: Min and Bill's Dockside!!

Daniel: Isn't it that boat over there? <points at boat about 20 yards away>

Me: I knew that.

Daniel: No, you didn't.

Me: Look, I'll divorce you. I don't care if we're at Disney.

Daniel: Fine, you knew where it was...but I know you didn't.

Soooo...I go order my pretzel and a diet coke. The CM is very friendly and chats with us about our wedding. She rings me up, and it seems rather cheap, and I notice she gave us the drink free!! How great!! I really thought that was a nice gesture. She then tells us it's part of the Year of a Million Dreams...so people get Dream Fast Passes and I get a free diet coke? Eh, I'll take what I can get.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b244/Monica20039/iPhoneDisney125.jpg

I bite into my pretzel, and it's kind of um...dissapointing? I mean, it's alright, but it's dry and hard, and the apple filling is sparse to say the least. Daniel and I split it and the diet coke while watching the Indiana Jones show, and we were just glad it only costed us 1 snack credit rather than 2.

I'm greatly enjoying your reviews. Tell DH that you are more than funny enough to represent his views and many others to boot!

Being from Texas originally, I have to agree with you on Flame Tree. Their barbecue sauce is more Carolina-style vinegar based than our Texas thick sauce. Yet, it's not really right for Carolina style either. It's just yuck.

Welcome to married life, sweetie. They want none of the work and all of the say. That's why our ADR plan got messed up last trip as well. And also why DH was forced to endure multiple conversations about menus and restaurants. Fortunately, he learned his lesson last time so was more forthcoming this trip.

I'm laughing out load at your reviews. You're too cute! Keep them coming!
