Evening Everyone. Just checking in.
Busy last couple days and we'll be gone tomorrow.
Went to see Grandma yesterday (she's 99 and doing great). It was funny, we usually take her to lunch with us, but she didn't want to go this time. She says she didn't want to miss lunch at the home because she may lose her place at the table. Guess it's getting cut-throat there with the new residents. :rotfl2:
Today was football and then shoppng while DS was at Zoo class.
Tomorrow is Six Flags Great America (Suz' company has the whole park tomorrow, so only 9,000 people tops :cool1: ).

Hello There,
My name is Vi and I am Andy's (Verandah Man) mom. My friend Walt and I will be joining you on the B.O.B. cruise next year. This is a "surprise cruise" for Walt. I think I will be telling him about the cruise this coming April when he will be celebrating his 87th birthday. My son switched our cabins around and Walt and I will now be in Andy's old cabin #5520. Andy, Hazel and Angelina have moved next door to cabin #5522.
This is the first time I posted on the DISboards in about 1.5 years, so don't expect me to be on much.
I had Andy send in a photo of Walt and myself to Cass so it can be included on the B.O.B. website page.
I am really looking forward to getting back on the Magic and meeting you fine people, Andy talks about you all the time.
Hi Vi. Glad to see you on the thread. Also glad to see the room swithes all worked out.

How did the Tribe do?
Brewers lost and Mets won, so we have to wait until tomorrow to see if they make the playoffs.
Brewers better win, because I'll bet the Mets do. If they tie, they would play a tie-breaker, I think.

O.K., I'm back.
Putting DS to bed turned in to me, flipping our mattress (1st of the month), putting the new heated mattress pad on the bed, and making the bed. The hardest part was flipping the mattress. Wanted to surprise Suz, so I did it myself. Racked my knuckle on the headboard while flipping the mattress.

Lina needs a laptop case for her laptop, so on our way out this morning we are making a quick stop at Target to pick up said item........;)
OK, signing off for now, Hazel has everything by the front door, Lina is finishing up her shower, then I need to get a quick shower myself. My next post should be coming from Fredericksburg, Virginia!!!!! :thumbsup2

TALK TO YOU SOON!
Glad you're having a great time, Melody.
Welcome aboard Vi. Looking forward to meeting you next year.

Have a great time Jeff.

(I'm more of a college ball fan - go Bucks!) But even the Steelers are struggling who I follow more than the Bengals. I gave up on the Bengals years ago.
There is this commercial on the radio that has this guy placing a phone in order. He says, "I'll have an blow to the gut, a kick in the shins and an elbow to the face, please." The waitress replies, "Would you like a knee to the groin with that?" He says sure. She asks his name. His response is, "Just call me Bengals fan."

So I was going through some drawers today and found a old notebook that we used to budget and plan our trips to Florida.
Here's what I found:
September 1993 10 night trip to Orlando.
Howard Johnson's Fountain Park Plaza Hotel-Kissimmee
$38.15/night with AAA discount and Magic Kingdom Club discount = $266.70
($325.00)
Gas
$.99/gallon average = $300.00:scared1: (2400 miles roundtrip)
Food Allowance:
$55.00/day for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids):goodvibes
Spending Money::scared1: :scared1:
$300.00
KOA campground x 4 nights = $10.00/night = $40.00
Entire trip budget was $1520.00
Then because I was a compulsive planner way back then, I even wrote down what we actually spent.
Howard Johnson's = $328.00
Gas=$241.00
Food = $388.00
Spending Money = $255.00
KOA= $40.00
TOTAL = $1252.00
I remember we treated the kids and went to Universal for the first and last time that year because we were able to save some money during the trip. We had breakfast at Perkins EVERY morning for $2.00 each. 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon for $2.00! I also remember making sandwiches for us for lunch. Dinner was at Ponderosa because it was cheaper if we ate at 4:30 and ate off the lunch buffet. Dinner started at 5:00 and we would just sit around and wait until then for the good stuff. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Sometimes we just went down to Florida and never went to any of the parks at all. We would hang around Old Town in Kissimmee every night for our entertainment. Now I can't even imagine going down there without a visit with the Mouse.
Ahhhhh, the good old days. :flower3:

Boy you are not kidding about fast moving. My Dh's only comment about going on another cruise was to not make him wear a suit ( you know I am retired). He always throws in the you know..... statement, so it is a running joke around here, when he is not into something.
After deciding to go back to school and get my masters in nursing edu, I will be so ready to not study for awhile.
HOW ABOUT THE CHIEFS!!party:
THEY FINALLY WON.

If you don't want to go to the hassle of bringing formal wear, you can always go to Topsiders on those nights. The food is the almost the same, and you do get waited on. It's not a buffet at night. I love dressing up at night, especially formal nights. Makes it more special.
That's me done for tonight. Have a great evening everyone.

Just changed our Dec. ressies again. We are now Club level for both Sat and Sun night. We decided to turn in the rental car on Sat. and use Disney buses and just take ME back to the airport. Wow, that is too cool MG! I was like that too! I went in 1993 with my friend, we had just turned 21 and didn`t have a lot of money. We drove all the way down there (60+ hours) with no AC in July!!! :scared: Young and stupid I guess :lmao: We stayed at the Comfort Inn Maingate West for $42 per night. We ate either at Perkins, Ponderosa or fast food at the parks. We didn`t do a single sit down restaurant in the parks, too expensive
I could barely afford the trip and had like zero spending money but I was ok with that!! I was so happy to be there, didn`t even complain when we had to wait 1 hour+ for each and every ride, 2 hours for Back to the Future! Next time back was Rob`s first trip ever in 1999.
We spend more money on each subsequent trip :rolleyes1 :lmao:
Boy you are not kidding about fast moving. My Dh's only comment about going on another cruise was to not make him wear a suit ( you know I am retired).
I don`t think we will be getting as dressed up this cruise. With the extra charges for bags, I think we will lighten up with clothes ;) We saw a lot of people who were dressed down for formal and semi-formal night and they fit right in. I think as long as you aren`t wearing jeans and tees for formal night, you will have no problem eating at the dining rooms.

Deluxe WDW hotels are a point of contention in our house. I either want to stay in the Wilderness or Contemporary, while Elaine thinks the AKL would be her first choice. The way we keep from arguing is to stay in the All Star or Pop!
Someday...Someday, I will stay in the Contemporary though.

Yup, that's the Perkins Mike. 192 and Poinciana Blvd. The Hojo's was the one right next to it, kitty corner from Camper's World. :thumbsup2 Everytime we are in Orlando we go through that area just for old time's sake. I think Hojo's is now a Ramada but it's pretty run down. :sad2:
The Perkins used to sell the best bakery cookies too. We would wait until shortly before closing time and run over from the hotel to get the cookies at half price. :yay:

A lot of those 192 properties have seen much better days! In 2001 I tooke 15 kids from our community to WDW and we stayed on the westside of 192 where everything was fairly new. It was nice and quiet too. The hotel was the Comfort Suites Maingate.

Welcome Vi! I'm Jen, and I will be cruising with DH Pete and DS Thomas, and a whole bunch of assorted relatives. Looking forward to meeting you...it's going to be a lot of fun!
P.S. - I haven't met him in person yet, but your son is such a nice man. You should be proud:goodvibes

I know I am in the minority, but I didn't care for Pirates 2 and 3 at all :sad2: Especially 3  But I think the first one is a FANTASTIC movie!!!!!
If you are in the minority, then so am I....they could have stopped at one and I would have been very happy. I did not really like 2 or 3 - the plot got WAY too complicated and erratic, and Davy Jones was just UGLY!

I didn't care for 2, but I liked parts of 3. I really liked seeing Barbossa and liked seeing him as a protagonist. I liked the transition of Elizabeth into full blown pirate.
I get the urge to watch 3 occasionally. Maybe I will watch it tonight if the Yankees/Sox game is a bore.

Just got back to our room here at the Ramanda, we had the "BEST" time tonight at dinner, what a real "TREAT" this has been.
For meeting everyone for the first time, it seemed like we had known each other for years.
I'll be posting pics once they are loaded, getting ready to do that now, but wanted to post this message first.

We had a great time, too! It was so much fun seeing Lori and Scott and the kids again (Lori is still a red hot mama.) And making new friends in Beth, Matthew, their girls, and Andy, Hazel, and Angelina was as awesome as I thought it would be. Beth and Matthew and the girls were a delight...I just hope they understood my accent. Andy is as nice in person as he is on this thread, and Hazel is a hoot. She had me laughing all night....well, Angelina helped with that by showing me a funny pic of her mom.And speaking of Angelina, I had the wonderful luck to sit next to her. Andy, she is absolutely a joy to be around. She engaged me in conversation, she looked me in the eye, and she was as sweet as can be. You and Hazel have done a fine job with her.:thumbsup2

It is all worth it though. We had such a great time. And the kids really were great. All the girls are already trying to make sleepover plans and Harrison was a giggle box as usual.
It really is like sitting down to dinner with people you have known for years. It never felt like it was the first time meeting some of the group. It makes me want Oct. 09 to get here even faster!

I was telling Paige last night, after driving through that traffic on I-95 going around DC, I decided to go home a different route using 301. I can only imagine what the traffic is like on a weekday in the DC area. Luckily, I've driven been back and forth to Florida many times, so I have learned different routes to take. Using 301 may take a little longer, but heck, we have all day to get home. Lina's cat has plenty of food and water down, she also has the radio on for company and the central air was left on, so we know she is comfy while she sleeps the day away........:upsidedow

So true Heather. It's geared more towards Tweens and Teens now. Seemed like nothing but a big hangout for them and you're right, really tacky and run down!! Heather, do you remember when the general store sold 25 cent cokes? They later switched to Pepsi products and dumped the 25 centers. You would pay 50 cents for the soda and get a cardboard ticket. When you brought back the glass bottle and the ticket you would get 25 cents back. People would give our kids their empties with the ticket and they would return the bottles for the quater. Later they would spend them in the arcade.

Hi All! We will be joining you for the cruise. We went on our first Disney cruise 2 years ago. Loved IT.Our group consists of Me- Tracy, DH- Tom, DS- Zac (15) and maybe DS Chris. Looking forward to getting to know everyone before the cruise.
Here is a picture from the cruise.

Tracy...it looks like you're taking an "anniversary" cruise from the date on the photo!
Welcome aboard! We just got back late last night from meeting some of the great people on this cruise. It was so much fun getting together. We recognized our Verandah Man and family immediately from his many pic posts! It was great to meet them all.
I'm Beth. My husband Matthew posts as EPCOT VA. We have 2 daughters who will turn 12 and 10 on the cruise (Megan and Sarah).

Good morning everyone...
It looks like the "mid atlantic" DIS meet went very nice. I think we are the only DISers north of Andy.
I think its great that you all really had a good time. I am a lot more outgoing on here then I tend to be face to face. My wife is the social butterfly in our house, but I am sure when we all do meet either at the Rad, or on the ship, we will all click rather well.

Megan was so excited meeting Alex that she wanted to post on their site as soon as we got home! I told her to go to bed and she could do it in the morning. Well, that was about the first thing out of her mouth! So... I guess "my" post count on the boards will be going up quickly! She couldn't wait any longer for her own log-in now that she has actually met one of the girls!:goodvibes

Chris... it was truly amazing! The time flew by. Matthew went outside with the kids to feed the ducks (the biggest ducks I've ever seen!!). When they couldn't get back inside... that's when we realized the place was closed!:lmao: Well, we weren't the ONLY ones still inside, but definitely the biggest group! We chatted awhile longer on their doorstep. And, Andy was right...we probably weren't out of the parking lot (at least not very far!) when he posted!:thumbsup2

Beth I have to send out an apology to you and Lori if Rob butchered your names. When we were on our way home, re-hashing the fun of the night, he called you "Becky," and he has always had trouble with the name "Lori." He always wants to say "Laurie" or "Laura" (He has even done this to family members who he has known for years and years.) And I think that Angelina probably never heard her name out of his mouth.....:rotfl: And he probably called Matthew, "Mike." Now as for Andy and Hazel, because of the infamous you tube video (and the pic that Angelina shared with us), he'll never forget or mess up their names. :rotfl:

That sounds like a lot of fun.
I think I am going to book the Rad soon for 10/23. More than likely we will arrive in plenty of time to enjoy most of the day in Cape Canaveral. Most of the ideal flights are usually in the morning.
I would really like to be at the DIS meet by the pool on our Cruise eve. That would be much better than looking at surfboards at RonJon's! Especially after 14 months of chatting on here!

Welcome aboard! I can't remember if I mentioned this to you folks specifically or just a general announcement. On page 1 of our thread all of our names are listed. Since I started this chapter of the thread, if you would like your names listed on the first page, send me a PM with the information you would like. Most people include everything you listed, plus state of residence/country of residence.
I am Christian. I sometimes go by Chris, but I think there are 2 other Chris' on the cruise so I am going by my given name to avoid confusion. :lmao: People call me both! Travelling with me is DW Elaine, DD Samantha 9, DS James, (Jay) 7.

Tracy...
I thought by your "name" that you were a nurse... what area? I work in pediatrics. I have my master's degree in pediatrics (Clinical Nurse Specialist...but I never left the floor!) I have thought about adding the education aspect and teaching...but it's too much time and energy when the kids have so much going on!

This is my last day off from a very rare three day weekend. Early mornings begin again tomorrow. We had a blast at the Great Wolf Lodge over the weekend. Topping everything off with the DISmeet was the perfect touch. The girls were a bit unsure before we got there. They thought it was going to be a bunch of "grown ups" sitting around talking. It didn't take long for all the kids to hit it off. They're so excited that they already know other kids that will be on the cruise. Here's a couple more pics of the kids feeding the ducks.

Good morning all. I am very jealous of Andy right now. He's up in the Ramada all tucked in bed sleeping and here I am alone and already awake. YAWN!!!!!!!!
09 to get here even faster!Well, better go get ready for work! Catch ya all later.:thumbsup2
Megan said this morning that we should go THIS October instead of next...it's sooner ("only 2 days away"). The girls were asking why we couldn't meet ALL the Disboarders! I said that would probably take a cruise ship to fit them all!
Anyway... it was great to meet who we did. Looking forward to meeting everyone else!

I have a sick kid home today. Last evening Jay was complaing of a headache and had a pretty high fever. He seems to be doing better, but want to give it 24 hrs of fever free before sending him to school. He is playing PS2 and waching Go Diego Go for now, but doesn't quite have the energy he normally has. I will be heading to work this morning then hang out with him at home this afternoon while Elaine switches with me.

great hotel with a waterpark on Saturday night [/COLOR]and will meet up with Janice's & Jen's families on Sunday for lunch.

That's actually what we were doing Friday night and Saturday night. Megan and I were at the waterpark Sunday morning while Matthew packed up and Sarah fended off a headache. It was a great indoor water park. Then, we finished up some Adventures on a "Magic Quest" game that they have in the main hotel area. Between walking up stairs for the water rides and up and down stairs for the Magic Quest, not to mention all the swimming, I'm totally beat! It was quite a workout!:scared:

That's okay... Matthew's wires got crossed and he tried to call Lina "Carolina" instead of "Angelina"! And he's the one that usually remembers names! I think he just misses things on the boards because he isn't on everyday and usually doesn't try to read back much! He got all the names right when I quizzed him on the way home.
As for me, I can now put faces to names and names to a couple of board names now!:goodvibes
