View Full Version : Sunwing......Good, Bad Ugly????

I am looking at booking Sunwing for next March...before the March break as the fees are pretty good.

I couldn't however, find anything on the cancellation policy. Anyone know it or where I can find it??? I wouldn't be taking out any insurance.

Also your experience with Sunwing. On time???, flight changes???

We flew Sunwing 2 weeks ago - they were great. On time and super on the flight. As far as I know you have to pay your seats almost in full at time of booking and most seats are non refundable and no changes permitted. I paid the additional $ 15 per seat per way for the seat selection to ensure that we were all seated together.

I am a TA and can tell you that they frequently make last minutes schedule changes and do not allow refunds/cancellations or changes. I do believe that generally they are on time.

We flew with the this past spring. Great crew very nice plane. The only complaint is in Toronto they didnt weigh our carry on so we were under weight. In Dominican Republic. They made us weigh our carry on as well. That put us 8 kilos over. 10 bucks a kilo. Ouch. I would fly with them again.

In February 2007. They changed our flight from a 10:30 a.m. departure to a 9:00 p.m. And it was suppose to be a direct flight but we ended up flying to Fort Lauderdale to pick people up during a pretty bad lightning storm and landing in Toronto past midnight.

I would definitely suggest doing some online research.

We were looking at Sunwing because their prices were so much cheaper, but after finding MANY stories and incidents with them, we decided we'll pay the extra for another carrier.

I'll be honest and say I've not had personal experience with them. I'm only speaking from what I've found online, and I'm sure every carrier has their horror stories. They just seemed a little too frequent for our liking. The delays of 10+ hours were particularly common. It scared us off.
