DBF and I will be staying at AKV this November. It is the first time we are staying there and aren't sure what to expect with their buses. (I've heard good and bad) Our First full day in WDW starts with a 9:30am ADR at Chef Mickey's. I have it planned that we will be taking the bus to MK and jumping on the monorail and heading over to the CR. I just don't know how long this will take... when should we head from the hotel room to the bus??

**Keep in mind i'm one of those freaks who will already but up and ready to go by 6:30 due to an over exhursion of excitment so i think we should be waiting for a MK bus at 8:15am. While DBF will be sleeping as long as possible and doesn't think we need to leave until 9am!

you can walk from the bus to the contemporary hotel - it's just a 5 minute walk (10 minutes if you stroll)....you're better off walking, since to walk to the monorail from the bus stop will also take you about 3 minutes and then who knows how long it will take to wait for the monorail.....might as well go on foot straight to the hotel...

Amazing!!! I wouldn't have known that!! Thank you sooo much. So maybe I can give DBF alittle more sleep that morning ;)

well you still have to leave a good deal of time for the bus to the magic kingdom...

if it were me, i'd leave my room at least one hour before my ADR...
or even plan on standing at the bus stop at the AKL at one hour before my ADR...

you may have to wait 20 minutes for the bus to come and then another 20 minutes to get to the MK (or maybe even more)..

yes, i think i'd plan it so that i was at the bus stop at the AKL at least one hour before my ADR...

I agree with pp, I'd give it an hour if you are using Disney transportation. Your wait for the bus could be as long as 20 minutes. The drive between MK and AKL will be 20-25 minutes. Then walking and standing in front of the podium another 5-10 minutes depending on how fast you walk.

You may have a few minutes to spare, but at least you didn't have to rush.

I would actually give myself a little more than an hour...maybe an hour and 15min.

 HA! I knew i was right and DBF was wrong!!! Sounds like a plan... i'd rather be early and maybe sat at the table sooner than late and told its going to be 3 hours!!!

Thanks for the help everyone!

You are the one who is right, definitely!!

The only way your DBF could get a bit more sleep and leave at 9:00 is if you take a cab from AKV directly to the Contemporary, and even then I would plan to leave the room about 8:45 to allow for time to walk to the front of the resort and catch the cab. Also, considering that Disney asks you to check-in for your ADRs about 10 minutes early it could still be pretty close!

If you go this route, make sure HE pays for the cab! :lmao:

Have a wonderful trip!

I think that this should be a topic on the DISunplugged! (if it hasn't been already!) I think there should be a way to figure out the best way to get here and there around the park... or how much time you should give yourself when trying to get places. Just little tips and stuff like what disneyholic told me about walking to CR from MK as opposed to taking the monorail.

I would say an hour is just about right. We stayed at AKL in april and bus was great. Since it does not share its bus with any other resort your looking at a 10 to 15 min ride.

AKV has a giant catapult, it takes about 3 min. to get to CR via the catapult, but the landing is a little rough if they miss bay lake.

That might work for DBF!:lmao:
