Karin~ (may I call you Karin??) Love your reviews. Your English is fabulous. I was lucky enough to visit Austria BC (before children) and was enchanted. Very beautiful country. I am guessing that "in real life" you are a teacher. Your posts are so well written and presented. Also I love that you travel to WDW with your brother. It gives me hope that someday my children may have that close a relationship right now their at the "he touched me.. he's looking at me .. I'm older than you ( yeah by a minute !! ) stage  ) Love the photos . Its so nice to see what you are describing. What was your favorite dessert?? And favorite meal?? Thanks again for sharing :flower3: Maureen

Nice pics... I so want to try WPE next time I'm in Disney!! :goodvibes

WPE is always a good choice!! :thumbsup2

Just started reading this thread today...thanks so much for spending the time on this and all the great reviews and Austria, what a beautiful country, my wife and I have to make another visit someday.

Looking forward to your California Grill review - we'll be dining there on Oct 18th - always one of our favorite Disney places.

Glad you liked the reviews so far! And thanks for the :thumbsup2 on my home country!!
We just LOVE the California Grill!!!

Bummer of a waiter. Sheesh.

So sweet of you to reward the nicely behaved little girls. That will help them stay so nice! LOL

Glad the food was good, even if the waiter wasn't. :sad2:

The waiter was a pain, but the girls were sooooo sweet, they made for the waiter!!!

loved that you treated the girls in the gift shop! when you get horrible service like that - do you tip less than usual??

We actually only tipped the 18% that were printed out on the receipt. We usually "round" up the 20% tip. But on this guy 18% were too much!

Your reviews are absolutely wonderful! I'm so glad I found them today. We're getting ready for our trip in November and I simply must try WPE. We've never eaten there but your reviews have sold me! Can't wait to hear the rest of your stories... :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 on WPE!! I will post more soon, we are only halfway through, LOL!

OMG, thanks for the frog warning.....EEEEEwwwwww.....:scared: :lmao:

Glad I could help!! :flower3:

You know the Podcast crew had dinner there around the same time you did and they had an awful experience with the server and the manager... they actually LEFT!!!

I think that that restaurant needs some help in the service dept. Glad the food was good though... :)

If this happens more often then they definitely need to do something about it! Such a waiter spoils the whole dinner!

Sounds like we had the same waiter at Captains Grill! Except when we had him he was soooo slow and kept forgetting things. We would ask where is this or that and everytime he would answer " Oh its the kitchens fault" or " Oh its so and sos fault". Never his. Very annoying to say the least.

Thats great about the girls and the "Dream" you bestowed upon them. See kids, behave. You never know whos watching and what good manners will get you ;) .

I am so enjoying your report. Can't wait for your Universal report.

I can't believe it was not just Francesco's worst day! And if it wasn't him they have a serious problem with waiters!
I am glad you enjoy the reviews and Universal is coming up soon!

Too funny. I was in Linz and, of course, tried the Linzer torte but it was not my favourite. Too heavy and too much dough. I'm more a fan of the Sahne Creme stuff.
Had such a laugh over your description of Francesco - you're such a good writer considering English is your second language. The frog family was so cute they didn't look real. Reminded me of one of those German fairy stories with animals that talk etc.

These froggies definitely were real - but you are right I always expected them to "speak" too :lmao:

As for the cake - I am not too big a fan of Linzertorte either. There is only one "Konditorei" where you can get a really good one :goodvibes , but I guess this would be more up your street - very yummy!

Oh my, that espresso looks like you could cut it with a knife....:scared:

It was quite good, just that there was absolutely no more crema! It had been sitting there too long.

Wow!!! I am so loving your food review that my family just got stuck eating leftovers for dinner so mommy could finish her "research"...
I just have one question;
Any chance of the next picture of an amphibian involving a plate and perhaps some melted butter? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No way my green friends would end up on a plate!!! The were friends - not food!! :lmao:

What?? Frogs legs??? I don't think they serve them there... or else you'd be seeing a lot of frogs hopping their way out the main gate!!!

I could not have put it any better way!!! :flower3:

It is so disappointing that you got a bad waiter, it spoils the experience doesn't it. Like you I love Wolfgang Puck Express and can't wait to be back there in December, we have also booked the upstairs Dining Room at the Cafe for Christmas Day, this will be a new one for us. Can't wait to read your Universal reviews. I am so, so hoping that the froggies at French Quarter don't feel the need to say either hello or goodbye to me, I so won't be offended by their lack of manners LOL

Please post a review of WPC!! I was thinking about it for our summer trip! Universal coming up soon. It is just hard to sneak DIS time in when I should be working! ;)

wow thanks for your help

You are very welcome! :goodvibes

Loving your reviews and photo's, cant wait to see what is left!

Thank you! There is lots more left, like Beaches and Cream, Coral Reef, Narcossee's and Maya Grill! So don't go away!

Faulous report!!! So happy to hear about Ohana. We have an 8:30, reservation and I was hoping it wouldn't suck!!!

We loved Ohana and the food was very good and tasty! I hope you'll have a wonderful experience too!

I just found your report and am only on page 11, but I just wanted to chime in and say that I love the Froggie pics and the food report is great too!:thumbsup2

Welcome Froggie friend!! :flower3: I am glad you liked the reviews!!

lovely report, I read from start to end, yikes! great job!:goodvibes

I just love  your dining reviews. I am really looking forward to the US reviews also. We have stayed at POR three times now but I don't recall ever seeing frogs. We did stay in the AB section so maybe the frogs like the fancier mansions!!

You had a long stay at WDW. How many times have you been? Were you able to get free dining for your whole stay? Thanks again for this very entertaining and informative review!:thumbsup2

I just realized I missed a few posts yesterday! Sorry!!!!!! :flower3:

I am LOVING this report! VERY well done!!!

Thank you!

You write so well and your pictures are great! May I ask, if it is not too personal, what do you do for a living in the real world? If this is too personal of a question, please ignore this post.

Kate

No Kate, it is not too personal! I am a teacher at a secondary modern school and teach students from the age of 10 - 14.
And thank you for your compliments!! :goodvibes

I cannot wait for your CG review, we are eating there for the first time in a few days!

Review of CG coming right up! You are so going to like it there! If you stay for the fireworks use the back walkway over the Contemporary. It is far less crowded! The fireworks are just amazing from up there!

Dem legs ain't hoppin' over at Epcot. They be yummy buttery treats at Bistro de Paris!

Caught up tonight, keep it coming!

NO yummy froggie legs!!! Remember Froggie is a friend, not food :lmao:

Karin~ (may I call you Karin??) Love your reviews. Your English is fabulous. I was lucky enough to visit Austria BC (before children) and was enchanted. Very beautiful country. Yes, you are very welcome to call me by my real name! Thank you for reading my reviews. And thanks for the :thumbsup2 on Austria! Well, you were right about me being a teacher and I love travelling with my brother. We have a lot of the same interests NOW - it was not quite the same when we were kids, LOL! So there is hope for your kids!
Since you asked about a favourite dessert and a favourite meal - I have to admit that whenever I think about a favourite several come to mind. I LOVED the Creme Bruleé at WPE, but I enjoyed the dessert at the California Grill also. As for favourite meals - California Grill is always a highlight. To me it always depends on the whole experience - so I would rate the upcoming second visit to Le Cellier as one of our trip's highlights.

Loving your reviews and your nightly visitor :) We were also at POR this August from 14th to the 28th :goodvibes

Glad you like my reviews. Where did you stay at POR? We were at Oak Manor.

I just love  your dining reviews. I am really looking forward to the US reviews also. We have stayed at POR three times now but I don't recall ever seeing frogs. We did stay in the AB section so maybe the frogs like the fancier mansions!!

We have stayed at POR several times and NEVER came across a frog. Only this summer we met them every evening. Maybe because it was so moist and all the Hurricanes.

This was our 10th visit to WDW and actually one of the shorter ones. We usually stay at WDW for about 4 weeks. With the airfare getting higher and higher it makes no sense to go for 10 days. The only exception was our christmas trip last December, but I had to take unpaid leave and a week was more than enough. We had two different stays at WDW this summer and yes, we were on the free dining both times. The first stay Aug 14 - 26 we were lucky enough the be able to book on the British site and the second part, Aug 30 - Sept 5 we were on the bounceback free dining.
Actually we are already booked for next year on the bounceback free dining as well. If all works out the way we want it we will spend 10 days travelling California, then a week at Disneyland, fly to Orlando, go on our first Disney cruise, spend 4 nights at USO and another 10 nights at WDW. Only 302 more sleeps, :rotfl2: !!!

Wow, that sandwich looks yummy. Can't wait to hear about Cali Grill.

That sandwich was sooooooooo good! I want one right now!

LOVE LOVE LOVE your report!!!!!!!!!! =] wow!!! amazing work and organization!! Can't wait to read the rest!! <33

Thank you!! Another installment coming right up!

Aug 26 - dinner at the California Grill and a very late night snack from the Earl of Sandwich

We arrived at Universal, had Bell Services take care of our luggage and went to check in. NO line - good!! We were checked in in no time, the girl checking us in took care of bell services and off we went to check out our room. What a nice surprise, it was a partial Theme Park view. We could see the signs at City Walk and the Islands of Adventures Lighthouse and even the Hulk! The room was perfect. Bell Services called and brought up our luggage, we settled in and went to pick up our free tickets (they came with the hotel deal) and went to the Water Taxi. We were lucky since it was already ready to leave when we arrived, but they let us hop on. We went to the Studios Part, since we wanted to try the new Simpsons ride. Using the Universal Express that comes with the stay at a Universal Hotel is the best benefit ever! So we rode a few rides before it was already time to get ready to leave for the California Grill.
We valet parked the car, what a nice treat that Free Valet Parking comes as a perk with the DDE, now TIW card. We signed in on the second floor and were taken up the restaurant a minute later. They had told us that they were running behind, so we took the opportunity to walk outside onto the walkways and take a few photos of the sunset.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8558.jpg

About 10 minutes later our beeper went off and we were seated a table away from the window, but nevertheless with a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom.

We ordered our drinks, diet cokes and a Whiskey Sour for Tom

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8566.jpg

and a Strawberry Daiquiri for me. I have had one at the CG before and they are so good!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8565.jpg

We ordered a California Roll - Jumbo Lump Crab with Avocado and Cucumber as our starter to share and let me tell you - this was the BEST sushi we both ever had! It was out of this world good!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8564.jpg

After we had finished it we had a brief conversation with our server and realized that we had had him before as our server. He is definitely one of the best they have!! He was so helpful throughout the meal and we had LOTS of fun.
Next he brought us some of their wonderful bread. I have read a few bad reports especially about the bread, but to us this bread comes close to the bread we have at home and it is so nice to have such bread for a change. It has a fairly crispy crust and is sourdough based.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8568.jpg

He also brought out some olive oil for dipping. This is very strong olive oil the kind we use at home, so we LOVE dipping the bread into it.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8570.jpg

It was now time to order our main courses. Tom had the Pacific Halibut with Red Pepper-Fennel Compote, Cranberry Bean Galette, Buerre Blanc, and Serrano Ham. He had had that before and it won hands down. It was as delish as the first time around. He definintely cleaned his plate!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8577.jpg

I thought I'd try something new for a change and ordered the Roasted Lamb Tenderloin with Eggplant "two-ways", Rosemary Potatoes, Confit Garlic and Currant Tomatoes. Oh boy, was that the right choice. The meat was so moist and tender and so well seasoned and went so well with the eggplants! I enjoyed every little bite I took and cleaned my plate as well.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8572.jpg

After our main course we needed some coffee to go with our desserts. So Tom ordered another espresso (which we forgot to take a photo of) and I had a cappuccino with cinamon on top. I swear, when it came out the cinamon looked like a hidden mickey :goodvibes

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8578.jpg

I am a chocolate lover, so I had to try the Chocolate Temptation Chocolate Pyramid with Chocolate Gelato, Berry Compote, and Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch. It was all that it said in its name. Pure chocolate temptation! Chocolate HEAVEN! So good, but so very rich! I LOVED it!!!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8580.jpg

Tom wanted to try the Peachy Keen Peach Cheesecake, Bellini "Bubble Tea", Spiced Tea Cake with Vanilla Creme Glace. It came on a long square plate and was so good (yes, we try each other's food, :lmao: ).

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8583.jpg

This is the Peach Cheesecake

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8585.jpg

the Bellini "Bubble Tea", which had some fruit in it

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8586.jpg

and the Spiced Tea Cake with Vanilla Creme Glace.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8587.jpg

We finished our desserts about 5 minutes before the fireworks were going to start and thought that there was not enough time to pay and then go out to watch the fireworks, but our server made sure we went out and enjoyed the fireworks before we settled the bill.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8605.jpg

After the fireworks we came back and our table was cleared, glasses refilled and soon after our waiter returned with the bill. We paid, tipped well and left him one of the Disneyland Paris pins we always carry for Cast Members who are outstanding. This is when he realized HE knew US too! He actually told us off for not letting him know that we had been seated in his part before and told us to just ask for being seated in his part when we were coming back in September. It was such a wonderful and fun experience!

We then went down, picked up the car and went back to Universal.
Back at the room we discovered that we had had turndown service and that they had left two bottles of Fiji Water (they sell them at $3 a bottle) with the service.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8653.jpg

Tom than had to finish off a sandwich from the Earl of Sandwich which we had purchased with our last CS credit. It was the The Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce. We got a cookie with it, but I forgot to take a photo of it as well.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8648.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8650.jpg

We both fell into bed, it had been a really long day. And only 4 more nights until our friends Mary Ellen and Joe were to join us for another round of free dining.

To be continued ........
Next up - Island dining room, Bubba Gump and "Hot Now" Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

You really know how to vacation! We only go every other year (or so), and we drive to FL, so we want to spend enough time to make it worth it.
Our first two trips were 6 days, and 5 days.

After that, dh decided he wanted to stay longer.

So I planned a 11 night, 10 day trip for last year. It was great!
I liked to call it our "luxurious, roomy vacation."

Now we are trying to figure out how to finance another trip like that.
With 9 total in our family, it get's more difficult the older (and more expensive at wdw) the kids get.

At the least, we hope to do 8 days. (Come on free dining.)

Thanks for continuing to post such awesome updates.

We haven't made it to universal on any of our trips. I'm the only one that likes coasters so it seems a waste for the rest of the family. Would you do a solo trip there? I'm thinking it will be the only way I can go and get to ride what I want without complaints.

I'm not Karin (nor do I play her on TV :lmao: ) but I did a solo trip to Universal a couple of years ago in May. I pretty much sailed through everything in both parks in one day. The coasters are great but I was a little let down in IOA because I don't do water rides and I skipped all of those. But the Hulk and Spiderman were awesome!

Next came the main courses. Tom had chosen the Tagliolini con Granchio, Pomodorini Alle Erbe - tagliolini pasta topped with crabmeat, sweet tomato and garlic and they were to die for. Not too garlicy, but well spiced and perfectly cooked pasta.

:goodvibes I guess we have a "travelling gene" ;) We do take a few long weekend trips within Europe, but travelling to the US has become so expensive with airfare that it just calls for a longer stay. I try not to book without a discount though. Last summer I had the two Free Dining deals, free tickets for Universal and the hotels before we got to Orlando were all specials as well.
But with 7 kids it must be quite expensive too!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for more free dining!

And yes, I DO teach English! :)

For a chocoholic like me the chocolate temptation was out of this world.

As for Universal - you can easily do a solo trip. We stay at the Royal Pacific booking a programme that is called Stay 4, play for free, where you'll receive free theme park tickets and they give you unlimited Universal Express and even in the summer we were able to do both parks in one day! You can also buy their Universal Express - they do not have any other form of Fast Pass.

But back to the original programming...:happytv: .....Love your report! California Grill is my favorite place. I wish I had some Valrhona chocolate cake right now. :)

Thanks for reading! I want some of that Valhrona cake now myself!!

Here I sit, 25 days away from a measly 5 1/2 days in WDW reading this amazing review. By someone who CLAIMS English is not their first language. Hmph!

Seriously, thanks SO much. I have really enjoyed this report!!!

Thanks for reading! And actually English definitely is NOT my first language! :goodvibes

Everything looks great, I can't wait until 2009

:thumbsup2

oh my gosh
if i didn't have to fit into a wedding dress in 20 days...
i'd think i'd have to drive to disney right now and go try some of these dishes!!!!!!!!!
And your English is great, you speak better than I do! LOL! :) :lmao:

You'll be able to sample to your heart's content during your honeymoon! I just finished reading your Planning Journal! Can't wait for your trip report.

Aug 27 - breakfast at the Island Dining Room, a late lunch at Bubba Gump's and Krispy Kreme for an evening snack

After our first night at the Royal Pacific Resort we went down to the Island Dining Room for breakfast. We were seated right away at a very nice table towards the back of the restaurant. They offer a buffet and an a la carte menu. Since we are not really buffet people we chose the a la carte.

Tom ordered some coffee and some orange juice, and both were regular stuff. I had some hot tea, which was actually horrible!! But the food was really nice!!
Tom had the Egg White and Smoked Turkey Wrap - Egg whites, smoked turkey, baby spinach, mushrooms and roma tomatoes. He liked it very much and cleaned his plate.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8661.jpg

I had been dreaming about having the Tahitian French Toast A L'Orange - With Caramelized Bananas, Sweet Cinnamon Butter all year long. I had had them the year before and they were just SO good. So I ordered them and they did not disappoint. Soft gooey bread, drenched with caramelized banana and orange cest, how could you resist it.
Beware - the portion is HUGE!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8658.jpg

After breakfast we went back to the room to get the sunlotion and we were surprised that our room was already made!
We then headed to the Watertaxi and went to the Islands of Adventures. We went counter clockwise and walked on all the rides we wanted to ride. We rode the dragons a few times - you gotta love universal express for hotel guests and it was past midday when we reached Jurassic Park. We were both so thirsty, so we went to Thunder Falls Terrace for a drink. I had my usual diet coke and Tom chose to have a beer.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8678.jpg

We finished our round, but did not go on the water rides and by 3.30 we were done with all the rides. We then went out and explored the shops on city walk before we went to Bubba Gump's. There were very few guests so we were seated right away. We LOVE Bubba Gump's and had already been to the one in Miami and Fort Lauderdale on this trip, so this was our third visit within 2 weeks.

Tom had another beer, while I had my favourite drink there. Strawberry speckled lemonade - oh my, heaven in a glass.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8685.jpg

We shared the Cajun Shrimp - Sauteed in a hot and spicy Cajun butter sauce. Served with garlic bread for dipping. Very spicy and hot, but delish!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8687.jpg

Tom had the Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi - Charbroiled Cajun spiced Mahi Mahi with Bourbon Sauce and shrimp served over mashed potatoes. He tried this for the first time, but I guess he is going to have it again next summer if it is still on the menu! I tried it too and it was very good. Moist fish with a nice spicy finish, very good sauce and nice mash.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8692.jpg

I again opted to have one of my all time favourites, Dumb Luck Coconut Shrimp, served with Cajun marmalade and fries. Large crispy fried shrimp in a coconut batter. The Cajun marmelade is sweet with a tiny hint of chili!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8689.jpg

While we were waiting for our main courses, our waiter came over to quiz us on our knowledge of Forrest Gump. Thankfully Tom watches these movies and remembers details :lmao: I am totally useless with it. We were too stuffed for dessert, so we left and since it looked like rain we went back to the resort.
We still had sweets from Goofy's so we had enough to snack on while we relaxed and waited for the rain to stop.

In the evening we went and did some more shopping in Kissimmee and decided to look for the Krispy Kreme doughnut shop I had heard so much about. After about 10 minutes we saw the sign - HOT NOW. We parked right there and went in. We got 4 glazed doughnuts fresh off the baking conveyer and a diet coke to share and sat in the shop to try one of the doughnuts. Boy, they were good. Soft and warm and melt in your mouth. We ate all four of them there on the spot!! Yum, yum!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8721.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8725.jpg

While gobbling down our doughnuts Tom pointed out a "hidden" Mickey in the shop. We were to find out why he was there some time later.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8727.jpg

We then went back to our resort, parked the car and went to our room. It was only 9pm but we were so tired.

To be continued ............
Next up - Island Dining Room for breakfast again, a light lunch at the Monster's Cafe, Starbuck's treats and dinner at Red Lobster

And I assume you plan to tell us why Mickey was hanging out at the Krispy Kreme... I love the way you tell a story. Here in Michigan it is 5:36 p.m., the Kifta is in the oven and I am reading your food report wishing I had put dinner on sooner. Geeze you make me want to eat, eat, eat, everytime I read your posts. It is a good thing I am skinny. I think I have gained five pounds just from reading. :rotfl:

Aug 28 - breakfast at the Island Dining Room, a light lunch at the Monster's Cafe, Starbuck's treats and dinner at Red Lobster

We got up earlier this day and were at the Island Dining Room at 8.30am. The girl who signed us in still remembered us from the day before which was nice. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant again. We both ordered coffee and orange juice today. Tom wanted to try the Islands All Meat Open Faced Omelette - With Portuguese sausage, Applewood smoked bacon, ham and Cheddar cheese. It was a huge serving that came with white toast. I tried just a tiny bit and it was very nice.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8733.jpg

I just love Eggs Benedict and these had a special twist, the Islands Eggs Benedict - Baby spinach, roma tomatoes, parmesan cheese and hollandaise. Oh heaven on earth for breakfast. If only one could have a breakfast like this every day! :thumbsup2

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8730.jpg

Now remember we are staying at the Royal Pacific Resort for only four days, guess where we spent our morning ...........

guess again ...............

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8737.jpg

Well, I guess the pumpkin coach gave it away! :rotfl2: We spent our morning shopping at Downtown Disney, before we went back to the hotel, parked the car and went to catch a water taxi. That day we wanted to go to the Studios Park. Their tickets never seem to work so it took ages to get into the park, but at least with the Universal Express we could really walk onto all the rides, Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, Twister, we rode the Mummy a few times and then decided it was time to eat again. So we went to the Monster's Cafe which has very nice pizza. We decided to share a Cheese Pizza

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8742.jpg

and a Caesar salad with a breadstick

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8741.jpg

The salad was mixed right there and was really fresh. We ordered two diet cokes to go with it. Both dishes were nice, but nothing to write home about, typical theme park stuff.

We had our desserts a little lateron when we passed Starbuck's. We don't have any Starbuck's here in Upper Austria, so they are a treat. We stopped to have some for dessert. I had the Caramel Frappuccino® Blended Coffee

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8756.jpg

and Tom had the Mint Mocha Chip Frappuccino® blended coffee with Chocolate Whipped Cream

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8757.jpg

They were both so YUMMY!!!!

We then went toward the San Francisco area and watched an employee make some of their "make your own" pop corn. Sweet popcorn with a few items you can choose. By the way they charge $ 9,- for a tiny container (about 2 hands full) of popcorn. Didn't buy any but had a laugh when we looked through the candies.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8761.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8764.jpg

:rotfl:

By then the dark clouds started rolling in so we headed towards the new Simpsons ride, which is really good fun, showed our Express cards again and rode it. We then picked up a few souvenirs in the Kwik-e-mart and headed towards the exit and the water taxi. The water taxi was about to leave when we arrived and they were nice enough to wait for us and let us get on. We arrived at the hotel just as the rain started.
We stayed at our room during the rain, downloaded some photos and did some laundry. By early evening the rain had stopped and we were thinking about where to have dinner.
We had always wanted to try Red Lobster, so we went on the internet to find one close to us and finally chose one in Kissimmee.
We started our meal with those delicious cheese rolls and some butter.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8787.jpg

I chose the trio of shrimp. Seaside Shrimp Trio

A generous sampling of our Walt’s Favorite Shrimp, savory garlic shrimp scampi and shrimp linguini Alfredo. All of them were very good. I loved the linguini Alfredo and the breaded shrimp. The Garlic Shrimp were swimming in butter and a bit on the heavy side.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8790.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8791.jpg

Tom had the Garlic Grilled Jumbo shrimp skewer and baby lobster tail skewer on pilaw rice and veg. Very nice as well.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8792.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8794.jpg

We were too stuffed to have dessert and went back to the resort. It was past 10pm when we finally arrived there and we just fell into bed.

Aug 29 - Island Dining Room for breakfast, a late lunch at Bubba Gump's and more Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

Our last day at Universal started like the other two, with a breakfast at the Island Dining Room.
We are there at around the same time as the day before and we didn't have to wait for a table. Today's breakfast was the Grilled Steak and Eggs - New York Strip and 3-Eggs any style and hollandaise for Tom, which he really enjoyed. The steak was cooked to order and the hollandaise was well flavoured.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8802.jpg

I had the Two Eggs Any Style - With your choice of breakfast meat. I ordered the eggs scrambled and some bacon to go with the Yukon Gold Potato Hash, Maui Onions and Sweet Peppers. It was really good. The eggs were still moist and soft, the bacon crispy and the potatoes VERY yummy.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8800.jpg

After that we took the water taxi over to citywalk and went to the Islands of Adventures. Again we went counter clockwise and went on the Cat in the Hat ride, the High in the Sky Train, watched Poseidon's Fury and rode the Dragons 6 times in a row. We then went over to Jurassic Park, skipped the Water rides and went on Spiderman, Dr. Doom's Fearfall and rode the Hulk twice.
In the early afternoon we were done with Islands of Adventures and went to Citywalk to shop. I had seen a few handbags and we then went to buy some of them.
Since we already were at Citywalk we just went over to Bubba Gump's for one more meal there this year. Again, in the afternoon the restaurant was rather empty and we were seated towards the back of the restaurant, which we shared with 6 other people.
Tom had another beer and I had another strawberry speckled lemonade and we both ordered a Classic Caesar Salad - Fresh grated Parmesan and croutons as our starter.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8853.jpg

I chose to be boring and order the Dumb Luck Coconut Shrimp served with Cajun marmalade and fries again. They are just soooooooo good!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8856.jpg

Tom chose the Mama Blue's Southern Charmed Fried Shrimp - With hot and crispy fries and cocktail sauce for dipping. These were rather spicey and tasted wonderful dipped in the sauces.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8857.jpg

We were too full for dessert so we decided to have something sweet lateron. When we left the restaurant it looked like rain so we decided to go back to the resort for a while. Again we caught the boat at the last minute and made it back to the resort before the rain. That rainshower didn't linger too long, so we decided to go back to the Studios Park one more time.
We were able to do Shrek again, rode the Mummy 3 times in a row and went on the Simpson's ride. By then it had gotten late and we headed back to the hotel, since we still had the packing to do.
But before we started the hard task of packing we went to Kissimmee again to pick up another batch of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. This time we went for the dozen!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8899.jpg

We were still intrigued by the Mickey hanging in the door, so asked if there was a reason for him hanging there. They pointed us towards a large Thank You poster from WDW, they had gotten after providing them with doughnuts during the Hurricane season of 2004. (Hurricanes Charley and Frances).

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8900.jpg

Now Mickey is an honorary employee there. ;)

We went back to the Royal Pacific Hotel, snacked on our doughnuts and packed our bags to go back to Disney the next day. And to meet our friends Mary Ellen and Joe for another food feast!

To be continued .........
Next up - Pop Century Food Court, Beaches and Cream and dinner at the Coral Reef

Hi Dizneeat,

I just caught up with your newest dining reviews, and I was smiling when I read your review for Red Lobster. pirate: I have always enjoyed eating seafood at Red Lobster, and while it is not the most gourmet food in the world, it is most certainly a tasty meal.

Your detailed pictures reminded me of my past; I have special memories of eating at RL with my dad when I was younger. However, I haven't been to this restaurant since they closed their location in downtown Chicago a couple of years ago. I might have to search for a new location outside of the city just to have those warm garlic and cheese biscuits again.

This is such a wonderful thread. :grouphug:

Aug 30 - Pop Century Food Court, Beaches and Cream and dinner at the Coral Reef

It's time to go back to WDW!!! :cheer2: :yay:

That day started with getting our things together to move out of the Royal Pacific Hotel. We decided to have the rest of our Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and some coffee (we had one of those capsule coffee machines in the room) for breakfast to save some time. Around 9pm we called bell services, who promptly came to the room to pick up our luggage. Tom went to get the car and then they "loaded" everything into the car, means most of it was sitting in the back seat! We went to the parking lot, out of bell services sight, so we would not hurt their feelings :rotfl: when rearranging our luggage! Off we went to the Pop Century Resort. No long line at check in and we could not believe our luck, but our room was ready at 10.15!! Off we went in search of it, this time carrying a lot of luggage with us - unfortunately we didn't look close enough, since we hit the wrong building! After a LONG time tracking with loads of luggage (keep in mind, we had been travelling for 3 weeks by then) in tow, we finally found our room, hauled everything we had with us in it and went back for the second load.
By then it was nearly 11 and we needed to go to Hertz to return the convertible and pick up a car that was big enough for us and our friends Joe and Mary Ellen.
The only thing I just wanted was a snack! So off we went to the Food Court to pick up a Mickey bar. Sorry, no photo - I was too gready and started eating before remembering to take a photo.
We then headed to the car and off we went to the Hertz car return at the airport. Returned one car, picked up another one and off we went to the airport to pick up Mary Ellen and Joe!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/image0545.jpg

I need to explain about Mary Ellen and Joe. Obviously they are our friends. I met Mary Ellen on a Disney Board, where she asked a question and I happened to know the answer. We sent PM to each other for a few days until we started writing e-mails and have done so daily for the last 4 years. 2 years ago we decided it was time to actually meet and we both were lucky enough to grab Free Dining in 07 for a week. When we finally met we hit it off big time. It was a week full of laughter and Disney fun. When we were offered the bounce back for summer 08 we grabbed it as fast as we could. Now we were to meet for the second time.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/image0896.jpg

We arrived at the airport and noticed their plane had already landed, so we hoped they would still be in arrivals and waited with the poster we had made for them.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8912.jpg

Once we realized we had missed them we went to look for the Magical Express counter, criss crossing the airport in search for it! There we found them waiting for us. Joe rode on the ME to Pop, Mary Ellen went with us, criss crossing the airport again in search for the parking lot.
They then checked in and off we went to start our Dining Extravaganza at the one and only Beaches and Cream. It's the best way to start a vacation.
We arrived at the Yacht Club, went over to Beaches and Cream and were told it was about a 40 minute wait, but what the heck.
After 30 minutes it was our turn, we were led to a booth and seated, no need for a menu, we know what we want - a KITCHEN SINK Eight Scoops of Ice Cream served with all the Toppings in the house and a whole can of Whipped Cream and some water to wash it all down!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8913.jpg

Don't they look excited?

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8916.jpg

And here's Mary Ellen enjoying one of the many cherries!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8917.jpg

Even though we were all hungry we could not finish it!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8918.jpg

That's what they felt like after we were done with it! :rotfl:

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8920.jpg

After indulging in this ice-cream dream we all went back to Pop century to unpack and relax for a while before going back to Epcot for our dinner at Coral Reef!

To be continued ............
Next up - dinner at Coral Reef

I'm excited for my next trip, I'll be meeting my best friend that I've never met in person. I met her here on the DIS two years ago and we are soul mates. We have so much in common, talk by phone often and we confide in each other daily. Strange? I say no, sometimes things just happen for a reason. We're both very excited along with our families!:goodvibes

That egg white and smoked turkey wrap looks fabulous! So much so that I am planning to make myself one at home. I don't eat egg yolks and it's always hard to find tasty egg white dishes. That one looks great!

Wonderful reviews as usual. I've always avoided Bubba Gump's thinking it was too chain-y to be any good, especially since I spent my summers growing up in New Orleans and like tasty Cajun food. Those dishes looked pretty tasty though so I might have to try the local one. It's not like I can get good Cajun food in California anywhere else. Thanks for all the pics!

Aug 30 - dinner at Coral Reef

After relaxing for a while we drove over to Epcot again for dinner at the Coral Reef.

On the way to the restaurant it started pouring down, so our group of "yellows" entered the restaurant about 10 minutes prior to our reservation. We were handed a beeper and sat down, but about 5 minutes later we were seated.
When we got to our table divers were in the tank and held up a sign and threw some "confetti". It was definitely fun to watch.
Our waitress was a bit "strange". She stopped only briefly, handed us our menus and off she went again. We felt rather hurried by her behaviour. Nevertheless, we wanted to enjoy our first meal together. Tom ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi - served with cashew-jasmine rice topped with a spicy pineapple chutney finished with a malibu rum beurre blanc. It was very good, moist fish and spicy rice and chutney. He liked it a lot.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8924.jpg

I had the Seafood Linguini with sauteed shrimp, mahi mahi, salmon, mussels, andouille sausage and slow-roasted tomatoes. Very good dish, even though the sausage was very spicy and nearly overpowered the delicate taste of the seafood.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8922.jpg

Mary Ellen and Joe both had the Grilled NY Strip Steak - served with potatoes au gratin, and broccolini

http://www.magicaldisneytrips.com/summervac8ion07/Day%2018/IMG_2545.jpg

As soon as we had finished our main course the server removed the plates and asked about dessert.

Tom chose the Tropical Fruit with Mango Sorbet - finished with a sea horse tuile which was light and fresh.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8926.jpg

I HAD to go for my favourite, the Chocolate Wave* - with brandied cherries! Love the liquid center and cherries. Yum, yum!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8927.jpg

There were very few people at the living seas, so we went on the Nemo ride and watched Turtle Talk before we went to World Showcase to watch the rest of Illuminations. After that we went home, because we had an early breakfast reservation at Trail's End.

To be continued .........
Next up - Trail's end breakfast and another lunch at Wolfgang Puck's, Narcoossee's for dinner

Aug 31 - Trail's end breakfast and another lunch at Wolfgang Puck's, Narcoossee's for dinner

After a good night's sleep we were up early for a breakfast with members of the Tagrel group for breakfast at Trail's End Buffet.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8941.jpg

Since we had never met the other people we were a bit nervous about meeting them, but we should not have been. We had lots of fun getting to know each other and were seated right on time.
Stupid me forgot to take photos, so all I can offer is this photo of all of us having breakfast together.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8944.jpg

The buffet is regular breakfast fare and was nice, but nothing out of the ordinary.

After our breakfast we went to DTD to do some window shopping and to pick up a few things for Mary Ellen and Joe's grandson. It was fun to let the grandmother to be let loose in the World of Disney :rotfl: . She filled those baskets pretty fast!
Unfortunately she than had an incident with one of her gift cards, which didn't work, so we had to visit Guest Relations and it took ages to sort it out.

By then it was early afternoon and we started getting hungry again. Well, because we already were at DTD why not visit WPE again? Mary Ellen and Joe had never been there and I had told her so much about the Creme Bruleé we had to just try with them.

Joe had the Rosemary Rotisserie Chicken - served with house-made garlic mashed potatoes

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_7472.jpg

while Mary Ellen and I had the Spicy Chicken and Sweet Peppers - all natural chicken, roasted red and yellow peppers, mozzarella, tomoatoes, leeks, crushed red chilis and fresh cilantro

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_7167.jpg

and Tom tried the Spaghetti with Meatballs and a side Caesar salad.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8955.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8956.jpg

Unfortunately they were out of Creme Bruleé, so we all chose a cookie for dessert, which we then took with us to eat for breakfast the next day.

We then went back to our resort to relax for a while before we went to Epcot to enjoy World Showcase.
The "Beatles" were about to play, so we grabbed a flake to get us in the mood and watched the show.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/flake2.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/flake.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8966.jpg

Next were "Off Kilter". Mary Ellen is one of their biggest fans, so we watched one performance, then went to get some water and popcorn and watched a second performance.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8985.jpg

On the way out we rode Spaceship Earth before we went back to our resort to get changed for our dinner at Narcoossee's.
Unfortunately I need to add that this was the most disappointing restaurant we had done the whole time.
We were there right at our ADR time and checked in. They told us they were running behind, but since we heard that sentence in nearly every restaurant, we didn't give it much thought.
It did take 40 minutes for us to be seated!! Our reservation had been for 8.30! We were led to the elevated part of the restaurant and our server was quite nice, but didn't really want to be bothered with a seperate bill for extras for the DDE. He brought out water and asked for drinks. Joe ordered unsweetened iced tea, Mary Ellen had lemonade and Tom and I had diet cokes. Then we were served slightly warm bread and butter. Very nice bread. We then ordered our starters and main courses.

Tom and I shared the Crab Cakes - Green papaya and Remoulade sauce, which were very nice, even though they could have been a bit spicier, but that might just be my taste.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_8997.jpg

We all had heard so much about watching the fireworks, so we were really looking forward to it. Just before they dimmed the light they plopped our plates in front of us and then the server disappeard. The light went out, we could not see the fireworks from where we were seated and we could not even see our food!
We had all chosen the Surf and Turf - twin medallions of filet mignon, butter poached lobster tail, potato gratin, and choron sauce.
I did not want to spoil it for the rest of my company, but my steak was nearly cold and overcooked and the lobster was rather cold and VERY chewy! I did not complain to the waiter for two reasons. First, as I said before I thought it was just my dish, but lateron we found out that all the food was served on cold plates, therefore cooled too fast. Fun fact - they brought it out holding it with a cloth :lmao: ! All the food was overcooked as well. And secondly there was NO way to complain, as the servers all disappeard the moment they dimmed the lights and reappeard only shortly after the lights went on again.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9001.jpg

We had to use a flash to take the photo, so yes, in a way, we made our own fireworks.

We were then asked for our dessert choices. Joe did not want any dessert, so he had coffee instead. Mary Ellen chose the Inspired by The Year of a Million Dreams - Almond-crusted Cheesecake with Lambert Cherry Sauce. She commented that it was very nice cheesecake and she liked it a lot.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9006.jpg

Tom had chosen the Gelato Sampler. It was very nice to look at. Four little dishes with small scoops of ice-cream. The waiter explained the flavours, they were dark chocolate, blueberry, lemon and mango. Tom tried but did not like the taste of the chocolate, well neither of us did, since it tasted like it had be flavoured with barbeque spice. Very odd taste for ice cream. Blueberry and lemon were your regular grocery store ice-cream, mango was very nice though.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9007.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9008.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9009.jpg

I am the Creme Bruleé sucker in our group and since I didn't get one at WPE I tried the Key Lime Creme Brulee at Narcoossee's. It had a very light lime taste but the sugar on top of it was burnt at half of the dish and it all tasted bitter and burnt.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9004.jpg

We didn't really wanna be bothered any more, just asked for the bill, paid and left. We used the Monorail to get to the MK for EMH, where we rode a few more rides and had a lot of photopass photos taken. We got back to the resort by 3am.

To be continued ........
Next up - WPE (yeah, again!!), Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner Package, Toluca Legs Turkey Company

Sept 1 - WPE, Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner Package, Toluca Legs Turkey Company

The day before had been a long day, so this day we decided not to rush into things. Mary Ellen and Joe were sure they would not be ready before 12.30, so we were on our way for ANOTHER early lunch at WPE! We managed to park very close to WPE and went over. Tom had another Rotisserie BBQ Beef Focaccia - slices of house roasted Niman Ranch rotisserie beef, sautéed mushrooms, carmelized onions and Wolfgang's signature BBQ sauce, topped with mozzarella, rolled in warm, all natural garlic focaccia bread. Served with a side of sour cream slaw. That is just so yummy!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9014.jpg

I went for an old favourite as well, another Four Cheese Pesto - creamy goat cheese, mozzarella, fontina and Parmesan with Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic-basil pesto sauce and sun dried tomatoes - so good!!!!!!!!!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9011.jpg

Tom tried another Frozen Yogurt - this time the chocolate/vanilla one with a crushed cookie topping. Well, what can I say - he finished it! ;)

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9016.jpg

No need to ask what I had - yeah, another Creme Bruleé.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9019.jpg

After lunch we strolled through DTD, picked up a chocolate sample at Ghirardelli's and bought some soaps at Basin and then made our way back to the resort. We met up with Mary Ellen and Joe, who had had their lunch at the Pop Foodcourt and weren't very impressed with it. We then went out to the Hourglass lake to feed the fish and turtles. There are SO many turtles in there and we attracted a real lot of ducks as well, it was a really fun time.

Sept 1 - Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner Package, Toluca Legs Turkey Company

We spent some time at our resort before we got ready for our 5.30 Fantasmic reservation at Mama Melrose. We all love the restaurant and went to pick up a FP before we headed over to Mama Melrose.
There were LOTS of people waiting and we saw a lot of walk ups being turned away. We waited about 15 minutes and were then shown to our table. First time we were seated in a booth there!! We were handed the menus and enjoyed ourselves when our server came over. She was an older lady and I swear she must have been a teacher before she worked at Disney. When we didn't pay close attention the first time she addressed us, the look on her face was hilarious!!
We ordered our drinks and starters. Mary Ellen, Joe and I had the Mozzarella and Tomatoes - with marinated sweet onions, balsamic drizzle, extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil, which was SO good. There were ripe, tasty tomatoes and the creamy mozzarella - yum!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9027.jpg

Tom didn't want a starter for his own so ordered the Artisan Breads and Spreads - freshly baked breads served with an arugula and chive pesto, sun-dried tomato, roasted vegetable and roasted garlic spreads to share. What an idea!!! The breads were wonderful and the spreads and garlic were so tasty. We were ALL happy he had had such a good idea.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9028.jpg

Our main courses were the Grilled Pork Tenderloin on wild mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus for Tom and I. This is one of the best dishes I have ever had there. The tenderloin is soft and moist and the risotto is just cooked right. We have always loved it and it did not disappoint!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9032.jpg

Spicy Italian Sausage with rigatoni pasta, peppers, onions, and a tomato basil sauce topped with caprino cheese for Mary Ellen and Joe. Joe liked this very much. Mary Ellen wasn't sure about what to order, so just went along with Joe and she did not like it that much. She said there was too much sausage and it was far to spicy and hot for her.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9033.jpg

I was really waiting for our server to tell us off for not taking the plates out of her hands fast enough! Don't get me wrong - she wasn't rude or anything, but just the tone of her voice and the look on her face made you feel like you were back in school.

I actually don't remember what everyone had for dessert. Tom and I had the Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9036.jpg

We were really stuffed after dinner and decided to do a few rides before going to see Fantasmic. One of these rides was the ToT, which Mary Ellen had only been on once. She didn't really like it then. Well, since we were all together she decided (or actually we talked her into it) to try it again. We were in the last row and she laughed the whole ride, but once she had gotten off she said that she felt funny. We were all hoping it would get better with a bit of fresh air and shopping, but nope, she got paler and paler and in the end decided she wanted to go back to the resort. They offered to take the bus, but we insisted on driving them back. Joe made sure she went to bed and we hoped she would feel better the next morning. We thought about staying at the resort as well, but since there was nothing we could do we went back to the Studios for EMH. We had quite a ball, riding a lot of the rides, even TSM. Before heading back to the resort we picked up some pop-corn, which I adore. There is nothing like it here! Sorry, no photo - I was digging into it right away. The Toluca Lake Turkey Company was still open, so we picked up a turkey leg for Tom, which we asked to be wrapped in foil to take it back to the resort. And it really was still warm when we got back to Pop, where we had it as a midnight snack.

WPE - too many times to count :lmao: but, he is a fellow Austrian, so who cares :rotfl2: (there are MORE reviews of WPE  to come!!)

Those breads at MM were awesome! And there was more than enough for all of us!!
Well, there were a few hours between MM and ToT, so I don't think that the food (or full stomach) were to blame. She is just prone to motion sickness and we never expected it to be so bad!

Sep 2 - Cosmic Ray's and Le Cellier

We woke up early and phoned Mary Ellen and Joe to discuss the day, but she was still feeling very weak and sick. So Tom went to the foodcourt to pick up some fruit which she wanted to try. After one piece she felt sick again. I looked through ALL my medication and offered her some rescue remedy, but the smell made her feel sick as well. Joe then decided that they would stay at the resort and we should go and enjoy the parks. We hesitated, but Mary Ellen insisted, since she was trying to sleep.
So Tom and I set out to go to Epcot, but on the way decided that we both felt more like Magic Kingdom. This is when I love having a car. :goodvibes We arrived and were blown away by all the Halloween decorations that were out. A week ago we had left WDW and now it was already transformed for Halloween. We took in most of the decorations on Main Street, checked out the new merchandise and went over to BTM to pick up a FP. Tried the Haunted Mansion and it had a wait, tried Peter Pan and it had a wait, tried Small World and it had just a 5 minute wait, so we went on it. Got front row :lmao: again, but asked a couple with two young kids if they wanted to swap with us. They were very happy! While we were on the ride we decided what to do next. For breakfast we had just shared some Coke and a cookie so we decided lunch was next. Tried Pinocchio's, but it was crowded, so we thought maybe Cosmic Ray's would be easier to get in. It was pretty packed, but the lines were manageable and there were still a few tables, so we got in line. Tom felt like trying their 1/2 Chicken and BBQ Rib Combination served with Mashed Potatoes and a seasonal vegetable. It was a HUGE portion!!! He loved it - his only complaint was that dishes on plastic plates, put onto cold tables in an airconditioned room get cold rather soon.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9066.jpg

I tried the Grilled Chicken Sandwich served with french fries. Unfortunately their condiments bar wasn't filled, so it was just plain grilled chicken with mayonnaise and ketchup, no lettuce, no tomato, so it tasted rather bland and dry. Plus it was quite a big sandwich on a rather dry roll, so I could not finish it!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9067.jpg

For dessert we decided to share some cakes. We had a Triple Chocolate Cake, which was surprisingly moist and nice. The frosting tasted chocolatey and even though it was sweet it wasn't too sweet.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9070.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9075.jpg

Our second dessert was the Carrot Cake. This was a wonderful treat! We had had Carrot Cake at the food court at POR, so we were surprised to find such a moist and yummy prepackaged cake. We loved the frosting on it - creamcheese I guess, which complimented the taste of the cake. Very nice, I would order that again! :goodvibes

We thought it was strange too. But Tom checked all of them and all were empty. But the rib and chicken was a huge portion and very tasty.

:rotfl2: Hey, we could have looked right over to you, LOL. I looked up the location of building 14 on YOUR site :lmao: and we were in Oak Manor, the wing that is bordering Arcadian House. We were on their second floor, corner room and water view, too! I love this resort, never been disappointed and we are already booked on the bounceback at POR for next September! Yeah, come on August (we'll go to DLR, then on a Disney cruise and top it all off with a free dining stay - now how's that for an icing on the cake?) :cloud9:

Sept 2 - dinner at Le Cellier (again!)

In the afternoon we took the Monorail over to Epcot. Since there was only a short line for Spaceship Earth we went on to check out or future.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9110.jpg

We then walked around for a while, exploring the shops, before we went over to Le Cellier at around 6pm. We had a reservation for 6.30 and we were hoping Mary Ellen and Joe would feel well enough to join us. We sat on a bench near the entrance to LeCellier but no Mary Ellen and Joe. By 6.30 we went to check in. Three weeks before we had been to Le Cellier and our server had then told us that if we liked our service we could request to be seated in his area. Well, we had wanted to show off to Mary Ellen and Joe, but since they didn't show up we just decided to be seated wherever they were to seat us. We did not know what we were letting ourselves in for. :rotfl:
After about 20 minutes wait and a few quizzes later we were finally seated. We had a table at the end of a bench and a family of four was seated next to us. They had two adorable little girls and they behaved like angels! I was really impressed. Our server came over, asked us if we had been to the restaurant again and was pleased when we told him, we had just been there 3 weeks ago. He took our drinks order, then said he guessed we had a favourite bread and he was going to guess and bring out more of it - it was the pretzel bread again.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9114.jpg

He also got down on his knees and explained the menu. They had a Chef's Special which allows guests on the regular DDP to order a starter, a main course and dessert from a limited menu. His advise was, that if we had not set our heart on the filet (and we hadn't) that this was a much better deal and he was definitely right. He brought out our drinks and some water and told us to take our time, he would be right back. Tom and I talked it over and then decided to try the limited menu.
When our server came over to take our order he winked when we said we would order from the Chef's menu. He was fun, commenting on anything and everything and made us feel especially welcome. (and not just us, everyone, as we witnessed with at least the family next to us).
We both ordered the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. If you have ever tried this, it is a very yummy, but very rich, creamy soup, even better with the pretzel bread. Now, up to this visit I have always had it served in a small bowl, not so this time!!!!
When he came over with the bowls they were HUGE soup bowls and his comment was that we could just use a "Canadian sized" portion of it. Made us LOL!!!! Needless to say, even though this WAS a huge portion, we ate it all.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9116.jpg

Tom had chosen the Herb-crusted Prime Rib as his main course and it was sooooo good. The meat was just cooked perfectly, slightly perfumed with herbs and was melt in your mouth. The potatoes were yummy too!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9121.jpg

I wanted to try the Pan-seared King Salmon with lentils, and this was what I got. It was quite a big piece of perfectly moist salmon on a well flavoured lentils. Unfortunately I had had to much of the yummy soup, so I could not finish it all, but I did my very best!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9118.jpg

All the time while we were eating our server would "sneak" up on us and refill glasses or ask if we liked the food, then answering the question himself, since we always had our mouths full and all we could do was nod!
We were already sure he would get a HUGE tip, but he just kept going. When we were finished with our main courses, he said that we HAD TO have dessert. Yeah, right! ;) He then looked at me and told me that I looked like someone who would go for the Creme Bruleé - well yes, I did. I just love their Creme Bruleé, goes head to head with the one at WPE!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9125.jpg

Tom went for the Canadian Chocolate Moose, which was a much bigger portion that we expected. Very nice tasting mousse, I have to admit.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9127.jpg

Well, as we experienced before, a waiter can make or break your dining experience. This server made dining at Le Cellier a true experience. So when he came around to pick up our key to the world I told him that I needed a good look at his name tag, so I could mention him in my trip report. He showed his name tag to me and told me to use his real name if the review was good and to use his brother's name if it was bad - his brother's name was Patrick - the very Patrick we had been served by the last time and loved the experience as well. I could not believe it, so he made Patrick come over to our table. We had a short conversation, but didn't want to occupy too much of their time. Now, how much of a coincidence is this. Our server brought out the bill, we settled it with a HUGE tip AND a plan!
Before we left the restaurant I asked the greeters at the entrance if there was a manager around. I tried not to smile, not to give too much away. One of the greeters hunted down a manager, who didn't know what to expect. Well, it was ALL praise for our server and his dear brother!! You should have seen the HUGE grin that appeared on the manager's face. He told us that he would take a note of what we had said and that it would go in both their records. The conversation with the manager lasted for about 5 minutes and Tom later told me that most of the greeters were trying to listen in on the conversation. When we left, they ALL had big grins on their faces.
We were happy and stuffed after our dinner, so what better than to ride Mission Space. Yes, we CAN ride it on a full stomach! :lmao:

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9129.jpg

We then got on the Monorail and back to the Magic Kingdom to catch Wishes. There was enough time to walk around a bit and shop a bit, before the fireworks. They were wonderful as always.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9184.jpg

After the fireworks it was time to leave and head back to the resort. At the exit these guys were waving at us!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9187.jpg

When we got back to the resort, the lights were out at Mary Ellens and Joe's room, so we didn't want to disturb them. When we came back to our room we were greeted by our Pal Mickey sitting in the "curtain-swing".

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9188.jpg

Sorry, this photo didn't turn out too well, but there was one more surprise waiting for us ........... we had had some towel animals before, but what Maria left for us, was just incredible!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9190.jpg

She also left a note that the towel animals we had gotten beforehand AND the doll were a present and we were to keep it! It now sits on my nightstand!! Thank you Maria!!

Sept 3 - Columbia Harbour House, Main Street Bakery and Maya Grill

We were up early today. We had booked a Mickey's Magical Milestones Tour as a surprise for Mary Ellen and Joe and we didn't even know if she was feeling well enough to come along.
Well, to cut a long story short, she was feeling much better and had some tea and cookies in the room before we headed over to the MK. We arrived a little early for the tour, used the breakfast/tour entrance and were stunned! We had the MK nearly all to ourselves. Very few people were on Main Street, so it was the perfect time to take a few photos.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9191.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9196.jpg

We then signed in for the tour, picked up some water and waited outside. There were only 7 people on the tour including us. Our guide was Scott and he was very knowledgeable and fun to be with. The tour takes about 2 - 2 1/2 hours and starts outside the train station, then you ride the train to toon town were everyone was allowed to ride the barnstormer without even getting off, LOL! We did NOT allow Mary Ellen to ride - she might have gotten sick again, LOL! Next was our photopass time with Mickey and Minnie,

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/image0896-1.jpg

before we headed towards Fantasyland, where Scott pointed out more Hidden Mickeys and we all watched Mickey's Philharmagic together. Then it was time to say goodbye, but only after we were awarded our ears!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9197.jpg

This is a real fun tour. It might not be the most informative tour if you are somewhat interested in Disney, but it is fun and shares a lot of little secrets and points out a lot of fun things in the parks.

After the tour we were hungry. So we went over to Columbia Harbour House to have some lunch.
We all had the Chicken Breast Nuggets and Fish - Served with French Fries. Your regular Theme Park Food, but we love the combo of fish and chicken nuggets.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9200.jpg

Again we all chose the same dessert, the Apple Crisp. It's one of our favourites.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9201.jpg

We stayed at the Magic Kingdom for quite some more time to do some more rides and have some more photopass photos taken.

Sept 3 - Maya Grill for dinner

We had a longer break at the resort before we headed over to the Animal Kingdom for the Extra Magic Hours. We arrived there at around 6pm and the EMHs were already in full swing. We picked up our wristbands and walked around a bit exploring more of the shops. Mary Ellen was a bit disappointed, she had wanted to do the safari but that was already closed. So they decided to do "It's tough to be a bug" while Tom and I headed over to Expedition Everest to ride it a few more times before it was time to say goodbye to it. We managed to ride it 4 times until Mary Ellen and Joe came to watch us ride. They missed us coming down the big drop so we "had to" ride again. ;) Well, 5 times isn't bad, is it? We then slowly walked towards the exit and said goodbye to the AK for another year. Our next stop was the Coronado Springs resort, where we had an ADR at the Maya Grill for dinner. Mary Ellen and Joe hadn't been to the resort before, so we walked around a bit before we signed in for our ADR. They told the people ahead of us that there would be at least a 40 minute wait, but we were seated immediately. Our table was towards the back of the restaurant, so we were able to have a good look around. Silly me forgot to take photos of the restaurant. We ordered our drinks, diet cokes, lemonade and unsweetened ice-tea and started to study the menus.
Our server than brought over a variety of breads and some oil with herbs in it. The oil was very tasty and had a light hint of garlic.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9228.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9229.jpg

Mary Ellen, Joe and I chose Maya's Filet Mignon - with a baked potato with sour cream and butter and mixed vegetables. The filet was very nicely spiced and cooked exactly to our liking. The meat was tender and melt in your mouth. The vegetables were nice but nothing special, the baked potato was very good though.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9231.jpg

I guess Tom hit the jackpot!! He ordered the Mixed Grill - filet mignon, fresh catch and St. Louis Style ribs, also with a baked potato with sour cream and butter and mixed vegetables. Not only was it a HUGE potion, but the fish (I THINK it was tilapia) was cooked wonderfully, really moist and the ribs were spicy and tender. SO GOOD!!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9234.jpg

We were STUFFED after our main courses, but we were tempted by dessert. Joe was the only one who asked if he could substitute coffee for dessert and it was okay with the server. Mary Ellen and I chose the Chambord Chocolate Cake. Mary Ellen didn't like it very much, she said it tasted too much of dark chocolate. I on the other hand LOVE and ADORE dark chocolate and I LOVED the cake. The blueberry were a bit mushy but the cake was divine!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9238.jpg

Tom had the Spiced Churros, which he loved. They were just so yummy and sweet! Wonderful!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9236.jpg

We settled our bill and went back to our resort. We sat together for some time in our room before we called it a night and I started packing. We were to go home in 2 days time. :scared1: Why does time always fly when you are having fun???

Oh MickeyNicky, just treat it as another reason you have to go back :lmao: But honestly the food was wonderful, just don't try the coffee, I don't think it's Nescrape, but it is its evil twin. Joe had some and it was very weak and disgusting, LOL.

Sept 4 - Sunshine Seasons and dinner at the California Grill

This was our last day together. We had a light breakfast at our rooms, before we headed over to Epcot. The crowds were very light, so we got on Spaceship Earth right away. I just love how you can now "create" your own future. One more stroll through Mousegear and riding Test Track before we went over to Sunshine Seasons to have some lunch. Before we ordered our food we picked up Fastpasses for Soarin. Then it was time to decide how to spend s few of those leftover counter service credits.
Mary Ellen wanted to try Turkey and Muenster Cheese on Foccacia with Chipotle Mayonnaise. It was huge and she liked it very much.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9252.jpg

Joe had the Half Rotisserie Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and rice. There was NOTHING left on the plate, so it must have been good!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9251.jpg

Tom and I chose the Asian offerings. We got one plate with Sweet and Sour Chicken, Mongolian Ginger Beef, rice and broccoli. Very yummy!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9249.jpg

The other plate had Sweet and Sour Chicken, Spicy Thai Chicken, Garlic Udon Noodles and Stirfry vegetables. The taste was good, very spicy, unfortunately things got cold very quickly. It's a shame I am such a slow eater.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9250.jpg

There are lots of desserts to chose from at Sunshine Seasons and these were our choices.
Joe had the Cinnamon Roll. HUGE!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9257.jpg

Mary Ellen had the "Butterfinger" cheesecake (I think - I can't quite remember the correct name). She loves cheesecake and it was gone fast!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9256.jpg

Tom had this brownie, which I can't remember the proper name of - so if you do, please help me out!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9258.jpg

I CAN remember what I had - I had the Key Lime Pie. Not the best Key Lime Pie I ever had, but surprisingly good for a counter service. Very light and fluffy.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9253.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9254.jpg

After we had finished our lunch we went on the Living With The Land ride. Very nice and relaxing and I love the greenhouse part of it. How creative they are, when it comes to new planting ideas.
After that it was actually time to use our Soarin Fastpass. Once we had gotten to the last line down to where they assign your seats our line stopped and it didn't move for QUITE some time. We could see the other line moving, just ours was "stuck". Well, this is why!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9275.jpg

THE DREAM TEAM WAS THERE and handed out Dream-ears! Even though you shouldn't wear these "beauties" on Soarin, our whole glider was allowed to ride WITH our Dream-ears on! We wore them very proudly walking out and past people in line, hehe ;) !
We then went to check out the countries, rode the Mexico boat ride and Maelstrom. We checked out the store in China and I showed Mary Ellen all the products the "Germans" have borrowed from us Austrians, to sell as their own - I DO NOT like this!! Joe tried his first Espresso in Italy and we had a short break in "America". After that the men decided to recreate a bit of US history ;)

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9289.jpg

Joe and Mary Ellen wanted to see the Hall of Presidents and listen to Off Kilter again, while Tom and I decided to ride Mission Space and Test Track again, before heading back to the resort to do some more packing and change for dinner.

To be continued ...............

Well, first of all Swarovski crystals are AUSTRIAN. They are selling a lot of their stuff. Then there are quite a few "traditional" fabrics, like tablecloths and napkins and stuff. Just turn them over and it will say Made in Austria!!!

(I knew these would come in handy one day! :rotfl: )
Needless to say that there are very often sweets that are Austrian - like the Mozartballs (the ones they had lately were a cheap German copy of the real Austrian ones), plus they used to sell Mannerschnitten, which are as Viennese as something can get.
Needless to say, that I have yet to meet a German who hides a pickle on his christmas tree! :lmao:

Aug 4 - Farewell dinner at the California Grill

Tom and I went home to the resort to do some more packing, having travelled for four weeks, we had gathered a LOT of stuff, which needed to be packed away carefully. We both then had a shower and got changed before we went over to the Contemporary for our farewell dinner.

We had our car Valet parked at the Contemporary and went to meet Mary Ellen and Joe, who had spent the rest of the day at Epcot. Right on time they arrived and I showed them the new restaurant "The Wave", where we had eaten two weeks prior. We made a note to ourselves to put The Wave on our list for next summer :goodvibes .

Then we signed in at the second floor and were taken upstairs immediately. Since we were early AND they were already running behind we decided to go outside and enjoy the few and the watch the sunset.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9313.jpg

We then went inside and got some seats and waited some more. After about 45 minutes Joe went to the podium to inquire about a possible seating time. That's when they discovered that there was a mistake and they didn't have us on the list until about 2 hours later. Thankfully that was resolved soon and we were seated within 5 minutes.

Tom had another Whiskey Sour

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9319.jpg

while Mary Ellen and I had a Strawberry Daiquiri

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9321.jpg

The server took our order and while we waited brought out some bread. butter and olive oil for dipping. Their sourdough bread is very nice and it was served fresh and warm. The oil they serve is very strong and tasty. Butter is still that - butter!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9322.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9323.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9324.jpg

We ordered some flatbreads to share as our starters. Mary Ellen and Joe had the "Chef's Garden" Heirloom Tomato Flatbread - Made with roasted garlic, provolone and arugula. Well, it was very nice.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9318.jpg

Tom and I had decided to try the Roasted Chicken Flatbread - Made with Applewood smoked bacon, crisp romaine, caramelized onions, and lemon mayo
which was sooooooo yummy! The lemon mayo corresponded so well with the romaine and the onions - I could have made a meal out of that flatbread alone.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9317.jpg

For our maincourses the Americans chose the Oak-fired Filet of Beef with Boniato Mashed Potatoes, Sauteed Haricot Vert and Teriyaki Barbeque Sauce. Joe had his without the greens and sauce. Both seemed to enjoy it and cleaned their plates.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9327.jpg

I finally talked Tom into trying my all time favourite dish at the California Grill, the Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Goat Cheese Polenta, Button Mushrooms and Zinfandel Glaze. No matter how stuffed I feel, this is the dish that is always eaten to the last bite! :thumbsup2

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9326.jpg

Joe chose to have coffee instead of dessert. Tom and Mary Ellen had the Valrhona Chocolate Cake and Apricots Warm Chocolate Cake with Molten Center, House-made Apricot Ice Cream and Apricot Sauce. Another favourite, which never fails to please - what can you say against, warm gooey chocolate cake, paired with ice-cream.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9333.jpg

Well, the Creme Bruleé lover (= me) found out they now offer "The Original" - The California Grill's legendary butterscotch creme brulee with a duo of banana cakes, and caramelized bananas. Fab Creme Bruleé, the small chocolate cake that came with it was yummy, the other one was a bit dry.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9331.jpg

Tom and I had some coffee, Tom had Espresso (sorry, no photo) and I had another Cappuccino

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9328.jpg

The timing was just perfect. When we had finished our desserts we went outside and watched the fireworks.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9349.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9371.jpg

and the Water Pageant

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9384.jpg

We then settled the bill, picked up the car and went to Krispy Kreme to pick up some more fresh doughnuts for breakfast before we went back to the resort. This was our last day together. Tom and I had decided to get up early and check out of the resort to be able to hit the MK for the day, while Mary Ellen and Joe intended to sleep late, pack up things and hit the MK late in the day as they stayed for the MVMCP. This meant saying goodbye that evening. We sat in our room laughing and having fun for a long time, before we had a tearful goodbye and everyone went to one's rooms.

To be continued ............ only one more time

We are going to DLRP in early December and I intend to post a Dining review too.
We are going to DLRP AGAIN in June and I intend to post a Dining review too.
AND
Since it's going to be a milestone birthday for me next summer we have another trip planned. It includes
5 days at the Disneyland Resort in California - means LOTS of food reviews
3 nights at one of the new CBR Pirate Rooms with DDP -more food reviews
4 nights on the Disney Wonder - even more food reviews
and
11 nights on the free DDP (bounceback) - the ultimate in food reviews.

So, in a way ...... your wish is my command ;) We'll just take a short break and earn some money for Mickey! :lmao:

Actually it had more of a banana taste then butterscotch. But even the banana taste was very faint and would only intensify if you had some of the caramelized bananas with it.

Sept 5 - Peco's Bills, Wolfgang Puck's Express (yeah, again), Goofy's Candy Company and airplane food!

Our last night at Pop Century Resort had ended, they had NOT forgotten to hang one of their "billing envelopes" on our door handle, so it was time to go. We finished some of our Cokes and the Krispy Kreme doughnuts before Tom drove the car over to the luggage loading zone and we started taking everything down. It took about 20 minutes to get everything down and into the car. When we were done with everything, we went over to Mary Ellen and Joe's room again, but everything was quiet and they had the "Privacy Please" in the lock, so we didn't want to disturb them and left Pop.
We always spend our last day at the Magic Kingdom, so this is where we went.
When we got there, they had finished all the Halloween decorations and it looked beautiful. We had lots of Photopass photos taken (in the end we ended up with 1400 photo - edited ones included). I can tell you it helps to tell the photographer you have already purchased the CD, they do a lot more poses with you!!
The park was really empty and we were able to go on ALL our favourite rides at least once more before we left. While we were in Frontierland we shared a CS credit at Pecos Bill's.
We had the Chili Cheese Fries and a diet coke. There was more than enough for the two of us to share. It's not a LIGHT snack!! but yummy!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9401.jpg

We went on Big Thunder Mountain 3 times in a row because wait times were really low and it was around mid day!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9403.jpg

Same with Space Mountain!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9431.jpg

Within 4 hours we were able to do everything we wanted at least once.

By 2 pm we needed to leave, we had two CS credits and a few snack credits left and we KNEW where to spend them!

We went to DTD for one last lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Express!!! We both decided to try a sandwich this time. Tom had the Roast Beef and Chedder (oven warmed) sandwich - thinly sliced Niman Ranch beef, sharp cheddar, mixed baby greens, tomato, Horseradish sauce and Dijon Aioli. It was just disneyliscious!!! So good!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9448.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9449.jpg

I had the Rotisserie Beef and Gorgonzola Pocket - house roasted Niman Ranch rotisserie beef, Gorganzola, red onions, chopped Romaine, Roma tomatoes and Horseradish Caesar . All I can say is YUM!!!!!! It was a HUGE serving, but so good!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9447.jpg

Needless to say we didn't want to leave without having dessert there once more. And yes, you guessed it - I had another Creme Bruleé. I still believe it is one of the best you can get in WDW!!!!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9454.jpg

Tom chose another frozen yoghurt. We nicknamed it the patriotic dessert, LOL. When I went to pick it up they only had a few strawberries left, so they offered blueberries as well. Now, this is what we got - very patriotic, don't you think?

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9453.jpg

Next stop Goofy's Candy Company to spend the last two of our snack credits! Yes, we finished them ALL off!!!!

We got some some dipped Marshmallows and a rice krispy treat!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9456.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9458.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9484.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9483.jpg

By then it was really time to leave and head for the airport. We filled up the car, returned it to the Hertz car rental station near the airport and got onto the shuttle. We were really lucky because there were only about 5 families ahead of us at check in. We took our luggage over to the inspection and went to the Main Hall of the airport, where all the shops are. More windowshopping, before we finished off our Cokes and went through the security checks.
Our plane left on time and we were served dinner. What a shock from the wonderful food we had just enjoyed during the last 4 weeks.

Here are our dinner plates! The pasta was nice and the salad too. I did not care for the dessert at all!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9463.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9469.jpg

Then it was time for sleeping aid from Walgreens and a few hours of very uncomfortable sleeping in these airplane seats.

Next was breakfast - another plate of airplane food!

The fruit was quite nice, but the omelette tasted like cardboard!

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9471.jpg

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9472.jpg

We had a stopover in Frankfurt and longed for some real food! Don't forget this is a 10 hour flight!!

We went to the airport restaurant and ordered pizza and a mixed salad each.
Tom had a ham and salami pizza.

http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k429/tinkerbellat/WDW%20food/IMG_9476.jpg

I had a cheese pizza, but both did not live up to WPE pizzas!!! By far NOT!!!!

I had one questions for you - were the desserts at Sunshine Seasons - butterfinger brownies, cheese cake, covered on the DDP or did you pay OOP? I couldn't remember if you were on the DDP once returning?

13 Days to CSR for us!!! :goodvibes

Great reviews. And may I just say, I love Austria. It's one of my favorite countries to visit. Your English is fantastic. I only wish my German were half as good.

I've joined late, but I am enjoying your reviews SO much! Now a few notes!

I'm too lazy to look, but someone asked about coconut in the magic cookie bars. I really dislike coconut, but it goes so well with the rest of the cookie ingredients that I don't mind it at all. Give it a try!

We stayed off-site on our last visit, but we also had froggie friends at our resort. I've never minded frogs, but I must share a story from when my son was about 3 YO.

The poor boy had just finished using the toilet, still had his pants down, and stood up to flush only to find a wee, tiny little pink tree frog sitting right on the flusher. Well, he screamed blue bloody murder and couldn't hardly scramble away because his pants were still down. It was SO sad! I had to escort him to the potty for a month! But he never had any lingering fear of frogs, oddly enough!

We stayed at the Royal Pacific last year and loved it, along with our FOTL priviledges. I can't wait to read about your experience!

wow - i just found this thread.

i'm totally drooling here. sitting here at dinner time looking at all those wonderful, disneyliscious food is making me sooo hungry.

I can't wait until our trip in the Spring. we've already chosen some of the same restaurants and food choices and if the food is as good as it looks i don't think we'll be disappointed.

I just reread this and couldn't stop reading. I had forgotten I read it 2 years ago LOL and now i want more.

Can you post the links to these trip reports? pretty please with Creme brulee on top :)

Well, it's about time to close THIS chapter :lmao: , but ..........

:lmao:
