It seems a little buggy to me still. I can log into CBS.com but when I pick my team it doesn't seem to save my choices.

For right now everyone can log into CBS.com to make sure you still remember your username and password from last year. If you're new, go ahead and set up an account. Send me a PM or post here if you want to play. When I get the private tribe(s) set up I'll send the code out to everyone and we'll get everything set up over in the gaming community board.

Note: If mods would keep this post in top level (main gaming board) until then that would be great. The better visibility might get us a few more players.

It was kind of an M theme. I picked Matty because I thought that, since he is a personal trainer, he would do well on immunity/reward challenges. I picked Marcus because he is a doctor, and that probably means that he's pretty smart and can keep his determination to do something for a very long time. I picked Jacque for some reason that I cannot think of right now, and Michelle because it fit in with the alliteration.

Just checked the CBS Page and no matter where I click on the fantasy league tab it redirects me to the "register" page. That's different than it was doing the last time I checked so they must be working on it but it's still not quite ready for primetime.

Just a thought on team names.... And by the way, we still need about 5 more players so we can have two full teams of eight each.

Anyways, this season's theme is "Earth's Last Eden" and is all about a good vs. evil storyline. How about our two teams reflect that - a "good" team and an "evil" team. We can tie it into Disney if we want... "Evil Stepsisters" versus the "Good Fairies," LOL! I don't know... what goes with good? Or perhaps a villain vs. hero team.... Just flying off the top of my head here...

yeah some girls are cute and all, but did anyone see anyone they like at ALL? ROFL

Yeah, there are some incredibly ARROGANT people on this season, one of my most hated traits to see in people.

My favorites? Paloma and Dan. I think they're both nice, sweet, genuine, and care about others instead of themselves. Oh, and Bob too. He seems like he can handle this game quite well despite his age, would LOVE to see him win. However, in a game like this, that's not going to cut it. Really stinks to see the ones that choose to deceive, backstab, lie, and could care less about hurting other's feelings come out on top. But that's the way this game is designed.... why am I watching again???

My least favorite player? RANDY! Man, that guy is already bugging me and the season hasn't even started....

I'm just going to throw this out there for your consideration. There may not be "private tribes" this season. There are no links to join or start a tribe in the fantasy page yet (even though other links that aren't functional yet are present). Then, I noticed this in the Fantasy League FAQ:

What's a Tribe?
A tribe is a randomly selected group of teams competing for the top spot on the Leaderboard. Each tribe has a name that is assigned to it automatically. All players are assigned to a tribe randomly when they sign up to play in the SURVIVOR Fantasy League. There is no advantage or disadvantage to being in any tribe. Each tribe contains a maximum of 100 teams.

How many Tribes can my team be in?
Unless you opt out, your team will automatically be assigned to a regular tribe. (If you opt out of the regular tribe, however, your team score will still be eligible for posting on the Overall Leaderboard.)

Notice there is no mention of private tribes? This may mean nothing and they could still set it up exactly like they have before (I can't imagine why they wouldn't). They do mention being automatically assigned to a "regular" tribe. The "regular" descriptor wouldn't be required unless there were some other type of tribe. Even if there are no private tribes it doesn't really stop us from playing together here. We'll just become very dependent on everyone reporting their scores (truthfully) on the board within a couple of days so we can keep an updated DIS leaderboard.

The contestants will start in Billings, travel over to Bozeman and on to Butte.

Then, they will head north to Helena, Great Falls, Conrad and Shelby.

Then they will go south to Grass Range and Roundup and the final leg will be back to Billings.

At this point, I'm not convinced there's even going to be a Survivor Fantasy: Gabon running on the CBS site.

I think it's safe to say there will be NO private tribes this year; however, we could still put teams together right here on the DIS for a little "friendly" competition...

Unfortunately, I have not been able to pick my team YET. I did some digging around and it looks like CBS is aware of the problems with the Fantasy League page, but it doesn't seem to be a priority to them.... something to the effect that we may have to wait until Survivor 18 in 2009. Grrrr....

So... we can either ditch the whole thing, or we can try to run our own Fantasy League here on the DIS. It will be a ton of work and will take more time than usual, but I think it could be done. I don't mind being a score keeper; however, we may have to throw out the "name sayer" scoring because quite frankly I don't have the time to watch each episode 3-4 times counting up every time Jeff Probst says one of the 16 Survivors' names (it was 3 points per name say, and last year, some survivors had their name said 40-50 times!) This really stinks because "name saying" was a BIG part of my strategy last year. Unless someone wants to join me in that endeaver... :hug:

I do think I could manage taking notes while I watch each episode of challenge winners, exilers, challenger sitters, criers, tree mail readers... have I left anything off? We could even come up with our own bonus ideas... I would then tally up the points for each Survivor. If you could each post your 4 picks each week, I could give you your total.

I just ask that you remember I'm human :) and I will make mistakes... especially if we decide to include "name saying." Please don't scream down my back if I inadvertently make an error on some aspect of your scoring.

Just gave Pete my log in information for him to try... thinking perhaps it's a problem with my computer. He can log in as me, but same thing.... no place to pick my team. Apparently, it's a problem with my account. But that doesn't explain why I can't register for a new one....

I was having "registration failed" problems too, Pink, until I read the Official Rules and noticed that I needed to register with the CBS site and THEN register with the Survivor game.

Ah... but now I'm in and the "Available Survivors" section is blank as well. So I can't pick my team either, much less stretch them out.

I clicked "Execute Trade" but was told I needed to select at least one player (from the invisible list).... that's when I threw my computer out the window.

I think everyone should post their picks (with corresponding bonus point categories) here before the show airs on the East coast. That way if they don't do the game this week, we can do a manual count over the weekend from the episode video posted on the CBS web site.

OK, so off I went to "storm the forums" only to find a lot of other very frustrated people already beat me to it. I was reading everyone's posts and it seems everyone is having the same problems. Many people have left feedback and gotten no response. One suggestion to the problem of not being able to see the people to select your team was to be sure to delete any CBS cookies stored in your computer and then try.

One poster did some research and came up with some phone numbers for CBS. He suggests calling instead of relying on internet message boards that CBS probably never reads anyhow... "phone # in California is 1-323-575-2345 and New York is 1-212-975-4321." I imagine if CBS's phone rings off the hook for the next 24 hours, maybe they might get something done? Or maybe not....

Since this is the first week, if any player does not post his/her picks on the DIS before 8 p.m. EST tomorrow will automatically get a ZERO for the first week. Correct?

Hopefully, by next week the CBS Fantasy League will be up and running properly. :thumbsup2

Sounds like the guy you spoke with didn't have a clue as to the real reason why you were calling.... We don't care that there will be a Fantasy League this year... we don't care that it's been advertised... and sponsored.... We just want the stinking website to work!

Pete, I suggest you begin a new thread to compile our picks since you're not the OP of this one. Type up a list of all the DIS players (should be 18 now) and as ppl post their team WITH BONUSES you can then begin to fill it in. It will be obvious at a quick glance who still needs to post... We can send a quick reminder if needed... but by tomorrow if you don't post, you get a BIG FAT Zero! :dance3:

The bonus activity selection is NOT working on the CBS site, so you will just have to post on the other Survivor thread which bonus you are attaching to each of your players.

You may only pick ONE bonus per player. Therefore, if someone catches a fish while naked... you will get points only if you had "Fish" selected or "Naked" selected. You're out of luck if you had "Coconut" selected.

And.... you only get the bonus once. If a Survivor gets naked 3x during the episode (and you had the appropriate bonus selected), you will get scored once for it (30 points).

Clear??

Just pick "Swims" as a bonus for each of your players, See, and you'll be all set to take me out. Heh.
