Is it true that they are revamping some of the rooms toward a Pirate theme at the Caribbean Resort? When are those changes supposed to take place? I would pay the extra to be in that type of themed room.

Yes, they are available starting in January (I think) and you can book them now on the website. They are to be located in Trinidad South.

quoting myself from another thread regarding pricing:
I just plugged in June 21 on Disney's reservation site. Standard view pirate rooms came up as $28.12 extra. Same price as king bed, preferred location, and water view rooms.
Water view pirate rooms, however, are $56.25 extra...
We're booked for a standard view pirate. That in itself is a stretch and a one-time deal for my boys...no way I'm paying extra for both the pirate decor AND a water view.

I am torn on this price increase issue. It is the first that I have heard of it. On one hand, I do believe that Disney - or any company for that matter - is wise to create upgraded experiences for people who are willing to pay for it. However, in the grand scheme of things, is that price increase really justified given the cost of revamping a room? How much could each refurbished room cost? And wouldn't that cost be recouped via increased bookings at the hotel? Did they really need to raise the price for those rooms in order to recoup the investment?
Even after typing all of that, I am still torn on the issue.

I'm not sure how extensive the changes are (not sure if anybody is yet) but the given the $28.00 per night additional charge the annual income for a room will increase around $10,000. In a normal business model you look for a payback of less than two years so that would mean the room renovations would cost around $15,000+/-, for that much money you could do a lot of redecorating! It really doesn't sound like a price increase is justified just on the work done.
