This is going to be my first attempt at PreTrip Report. I have developed PreTrip Report envy while reading TarzansKat and Tinkerbellarella, so much so that I am going to join the cool kids crowd and write my own! :thumbsup2
Over the last few days I have been trying to come up with a title for my PreTrip. I have title envy as well in case you were wondering. I haven't been able to come up with anything that fits the snappy, snarky, quirky, funny title that I desire. Then it hit me! What better title than, "Once Upon A Time..."!?!?!? It may not be ground breaking or earth shattering but it fits me. I am constantly fantasizing about being a princess in a faraway land and my true love coming to rescue me. It happened. Seriously. More on that later. Thus my PreTrip Report is titled and we are off to a beautiful beginning.
If you would like to skip right to the "good stuff" here are the links. Though if I do say so myself, the other DIS'ers and I are great at the chitter chatter inbetween "stuff".

Me aka Leslie. I am 25 and will be celebrating my 26th birthday while at WDW. Woo Hoo! I love birthdays and have had some not so happy ones the last few years so I am planning this trip because who couldn't have a happy birthday at WDW?! I love everything Disney, though I still am not quite sure about that Hannah Montana, she frightens me just a little bit. I have been on four previous trips. One when I was 5, halfway through the trip I came down with Chicken Pox and spent the rest of the time in the Camper(we drove down) with my grandma. I think this is why I am so obsessed with Disney, I was cheated out of the rest of my trip. I hate the teacups. Hate. On this same trip, my loving Uncle took me on them pre pox while my parents took my younger brother. My mom swears to this day that my eyes literally rolled back into my head. No teacups for me. I also went with my family when I was 13. I have gone as an adult in 2003 and 2005. The last trip did not go as planned and this one is going to make up for it. More on that later. My favorite characters are Sulley, Stitch, Mary Poppins and Belle.
Soon to be Husband, Marc, referred to as DF from here on out until he becomes DH on 6/28/08. DF is 27 and been to WDW only once. He went at age 13 with his family and stayed at Fort Wilderness camping out. He doesn't remember much about this trip except that it was really hot as he went in August and that his mother and aunt had absolutely everything planned out. I have heard tales of this huge notebook with everything in it and a huge sized poster that was left at the family deli which was a time line broken down to the hour of which rides they would be on. :scared1: I am a planner by nature but even I am not this bad. DF indulges my Disneymania and is looking forward to the trip. My next step is to get him to agree to WDW once a year! :rolleyes1
DF & I met a little over two years ago and have been together ever since. We met on one of those dating websites, and truly is exactly the kind of guy I was looking for and dreaming about. To steal a line from Juno, "He is the cheese to my macaroni." A little more back story on me is needed I believe. I was actually married about 3 years ago and it lasted for a very short amount of time, six weeks to be exact before the ex asked me for a divorce because he had been cheating on me for some time. Yep, surprise surprise! It wasn't a healthy relationship to begin with and I am grateful to have met my true love in DF. I had gone on the dating website just to get myself out there and I met DF. :lovestruc I do have issues from my past that I work to remedy with a mixture of time, therapy, humor and Disney! :lmao: In fact the last time I went to Disney was in 2005 for my Honeymoon, there was nothing honey or moon-ey about that trip, it was plan awful and I am very very eager to change all those bad vibes with our upcoming trip.
Here are some pictures of us. They are from meeting with our photographer for the Wedding and doing some test shots. As you can see it was a test for my hair as well, I am normally not so spiffy.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g305/lallie23/ml3.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g305/lallie23/ml-1.jpg
I am not a wedding kinda girl but because a wedding with all of his family was so important to him, I agreed to the madness. We are still having a somewhat small-ish wedding but more about that later! I have been so stressed out with the wedding planning that I decided to plan a trip for my Birthday/Honeymoon Part 2 to distract me from all the wedding drama. Why, you ask, are we not going on a Disneymoon? Well I have been in July and don't wish to ever repeat that again. It was hot, miserable and so freaking crowded, shocking huh? Plus, we both wanted to do something for our Honeymoon that neither had done before so that has led us to a Bermuda Cruise! We are both looking forward to this. We see the Cruise to Bermuda as our relaxing, nothing planned, sit by the pool, drinks lots of rum swizzles vacation. While Disney will be planned, agenda filled and lots to see, do and eat vacation.
This Disney vacation is my antidote to the Wedding stress. Trust me, I need it.

So during all my escape daydreams while dealing with Wedding stress, I started to think, When!? When would we go to that most magical happy place in the whole entire world!? Summer was out. I never wish to repeat the summer heat or crowds again. I shudder to think I might have to when I have children in the future. Thus the debating began.
Thought #1 - December.
Pros: I love, love, love Christmas. I love everything about it. Why not combine Christmas with Disney? Of course it wouldn't be during the actual holiday, I was thinking more around the first two weeks of December.
Cons: After the Wedding, I only have 4 vacation days to use at work and I can't take unpaid time off. Also, I wouldn't be able to have my birthday off. I abhor having to work on my birthday. It's cruel and unusual punishment.
Thought #2 - Columbus Day Week.
Pros: I could combine the exsisting day off for Columbus Day and get a full week into Disney.
Cons: I would still have to work on my Birthday. Shudder. Plus, another girl at work had already planned a vacation so it would be tricky to get the time off.
Thought #3 - Labor Day Week.
Pros: It's my birthday, yahoo! I wouldn't have to be at work and I would also get a full week off since I would combine my vacation with a work Holiday. Possible free dining...hmm?? Also, the last few birthdays have not been absolutely wonderful as all birthdays should be. Three years ago, the ex asked me for a divorce the day before my birthday. Another year, DF's father had a kidney transplant and last year was just not a good time with money so we didn't do much to celebrate.
Cons: I have read that Labor Day can be crowded, eek! Also the weather is still hot hot hot. It's also the closest date to the wedding. Would finances permit another vacation that close to the Bermuda Cruise??
Choices, Choices. After much debating with DF, reading all those helpful Disney websites, we decided to go in September. Happy Birthday to Me!
Next...where do we stay?

I love seeing the picture of you with your DF, you two are adorable! And it's wonderful to put a face with the Lady Lallie name! :)
You have a great start so far, and I truly can't wait to read more. I think you and DF will really enjoy this trip. September can be hot, but I have gone that early before (while pregnant!) and still had a great time! :goodvibes

Honestly, I wasn't that far along. Just starting to show, I think, and just into maternity clothes. I got pregnant in May, so I was 4 months along. That was a trip with my hubbie, mom, and dad. Boy, did we have a blast. Granted, we took it very slow, availed ourselves of many sit down dinners and air conditioned places! :thumbsup2
Okay, pardon the quick thread hijack here...
I actually have a pic that is so cute from that trip. I was meeting Chip and Dale. Since you've read my pre-trippie you know that in MGM, DH and I always win a stuffed toy at Pizza Planet. Well, since I was pregnant, we planned for the cute little teddy bear we won to be for DS. I did know he was a boy before we went on the trip, so that was cool. Anyway, Chip and Dale playfully tryed to take the teddy bear from me. I guess because I wasn't showing that much, it wasn't obvious I was pregnant, also my top was sort of loose and flowy. I said to them, no, this teddy bear isn't for me, it's for my baby, and I patted my belly. Chip and Dale proceeded to gently rub my belly, and then for the picture, held the teddy bear in front of my stomach. It was so cute, and so much fun!
Okay, hijack over. Just thought you might like that. ;)
P.S. Of course we're interested in lil ole you!

That is so adorable! I love Chip & Dale, I think it was because I watched all those Rescue Rangers cartoons as a child. Now I am singing the song in my head. :rolleyes1
I actually have written down your pizza planet tip down in my planning notebook. I have been keeping a collection of random things that I have never done before that I would like to try during this trip. Of course for pretrip report purposes you will have to wait to see what the rest are. On our second date, DF and I went to an arcade and he won me a lion that I still have. I think it would be fun to go to and play. Thanks for the tip!

I loved all of those, especially Duck Tales. I just don't think they make shows like that anymore, though I do love Jo Jo's Circus, hehehe. She's so cute and the lion, I mean his name is Goliath, how cool is that? I envy that you have an excuse to go to the Playhouse Disney shows. I believe this was on the Disney Channel way back in the day but I am not sure, I loooooved "The Wuzzles" Oh my! They were wonderful. :yay:

Thanks! With all my obsessing with planning the trip to WDW, sometimes I forget I am going on the cruise. That makes me sound like a true diva but I am really not. It's such a nice little surprise when I remember. I can't wait to relax! :boat:

You don't sound like a diva at all. In the midst of all my wedding stuff, I actually forgot about my honeymoon ALOT. (We did 6 nights at the Polynesian and a 4 day Disney cruise)
As I was walking down the aisle, I was like, "I'm going to Disney tomorrow, I'm going to Disney tomorrow" so I wouldn't be so nervous! :lmao:
How long of a cruise are you taking? I hope we get to see pictures when you get back!

We are going for 7 nights. It leaves right in Boston, so we don't have to fly or anything. I am excited. My parents are actually going on the same cruise in May so I am hoping they will give us some good tips. Honestly though, I don't want to plan anything, I just want to take lots of pictures. I love pictures, I will post some after. I have some I want post now too but think I am going to wait until I run out of things to write about. I do keep telling DF if we like this cruise that we should do the Disney Cruise next year. Hehehe.

I was trying to find this picture earlier and couldn't but Voila, here it is. This was in October, we had just gotten engaged about two weeks before.

I also wanted to show off our children a.k.a. our kitties! Sadly they will not be coming to Disney. I am not sure who will take care of them when we are gone, I think it depends on how it goes while we are on the cruise.
Sulley - Named after the Monster himself, when he was little he had all that spikey hair all over the place. DF refers to him as "Big Moose-y" He weighs over 20lbs and I am guessing he is closer to 25lbs now. Sulley is my baby, I have had him since he was kitten. He is the chewer of all things plastic, likes to cuddle on top of my arm while I am navigating the computer mouse and if you leave open a dresser drawer he will sleep in it, also likes to sleep in boxes.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g305/lallie23/Kitty%20Pictures/P1020907.jpg
Ruby - Took us about 3 weeks to name her. I really wanted to name her Boo but DF wouldn't go for it. Her names fits her and we usually call her "Ruby Doobie" She is almost a year old. We got her after I moved in with DF and Sulley was lonely for the cats that lived with us before. He doesn't like to be alone. Ruby is a little doll but doesn't let Sulley boss her around, if anything it is the other way around. She is fiesty and will attack Sulley at a moments notice.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g305/lallie23/Kitty%20Pictures/105_0749.jpg
Here are some with them together. The first one was the first couple of days that Ruby was home. Sulley hissed at her for at least two days and I really thought it was going to work out. You can see the huge difference in size!

I feel like one of the cool kids and that is half the battle! :rotfl:
Sulley loves sleeping on his back like that. Last night while I was on the computer he was next to me on the desk, because of course he knocked down the picture frame and I had on there, silly me! I should have known he'd want to sleep there. Anyways, I go to get up and I must have startled himi and he was on his back and he almost rolled over on the floor. It was really cute. He caught himself though.
As I was falling asleep last night I was thinking about that great binder you put together. I think I am going to have to attempt something like that. That's how I get myself to sleep at night, think about things related to my Disney Trip. :rotfl2:

I am so there with you. Although, not about the ADRs. I took as a sign when I was able to get everything I wanted, on the days I wanted, at pretty much the times I wanted, on the day of booking. Therefore, I am reluctant to change anything about them! :)

Well I have a dinner ressie and I think I might cancel it....:confused3 Sometimes I look at my list of ADR's and love it and other times I look at it and wonder if I am making the right decisions. DF is no help, he wants me to do whatever I want for this trip. I think it's his way of making up for all the wedding planning stress. That is how I got him to agree to Mary Poppins! I am still working on the Halloween costumes.

The next great debate in planning this trip was where to stay....
We knew we wanted to stay on property. This was non-negotiable. I have never stayed on property and wanted too. Previously, I have stayed at a RV Campsite, a hotel in Kissimee that I can't remember the name of. Courtyard Marriott and Sheraton Safari. I loved Sheraton Safari, the bed was amazing and I loved their pool, but their bus system was awful. Granted I was there three years ago so maybe it has changed.
DF and I both really want to stay at the Wilderness Lodge. It looks so beautiful and very romantic. As we are treating this trip as an extension of our honeymoon. It's less than two months apart...it counts.
I have always had an obsession with Poly. I love that it is a monorail resort, that just says ultimate luxury to me.
I have read extremely good things about POFQ, especially reviews from couples who liked the romantic atmosphere.
Then there was POP. Out of all the Value Resorts, POP pulls at me. I love the theme and it's economic. Plus I had read great things about their bus service and as we are not renting a car this is key.
After much debate with DF we decided to go with Pop. We just couldn't justify the money this year, especially with our cruise to Bermuda. I do plan on exploring the other resorts to better research where I want to stay next and see if I think it's truly worth the money. It's hard to spend so much money when you could have two trips staying at POP or even POFQ. In my own humble opinion more Disney is better than less Disney.
Right now our reservation stands at August 30th - September 6th at Pop Century in a Preferred Room. DF wants a king size bed, personally I don't care. If there are two beds, I will be further away from his loud snoring. I wear ear plugs at night, truly it is that awful. I secretly love that he works overnight four nights a week, I sleep better. BUT in all fairness, I very much look forward to the nights that he is home.

Hey there!
I'm glad you picked Pop. I really think you'll enjoy it, it is a lot of fun. And since you wear earplugs and DH snores, you won't even hear if you have loud neighbors! :rotfl:
Seriously, we've stayed there for the past two years, and although I would love to justify more money on a different hotel, right now I can't. Not when Pop is so much fun.
And the all important slushie Coke machine. ;)

Reading your thoughts on Pop these last few weeks make me even more comfortable with our choice. There are other things I would like to do on this trip that I can use the money for and at the end of the day it really is a place to sleep and swim.
Ear plugs are the most wonderful bestest things ever. I just started wearing them a few weeks ago and I sleep so much better when he is home. I don't wear them when he's working only when he's here. They are cute too, hot pink and yellow all swirled. I want to get myself a little case for them for our trips. :lmao:
I keep forgetting to tell him about the slushie Coke machine, I think he will be excited. I know I am.

Hi! I just found your TR. Your wedding and cruise sound awesome but I"m a little partial to your Diney vacation! :)
I agree with you that more Disney is better than one BIG Disney. We had to cancel our WL vacation in 2006 and haven't been able to book back there again. We did POP last year and this year will be POFQ. I'll make it to the WL someday!
I was really nervous to try the POP last year but we did have a King bed room and it was really nice. The one bed made the room a lot more spacious.

Good to know. I am excited. Even though it is a value resort, at least for me it's an upgrade from staying off property. I can't wait! :woohoo: I will be surrounded by the magic 24/7 while I am there. I am also secretly hoping for some towel animals...... :rolleyes1

I was unsure of the hair. My mom did it for me, after seeing the pictures I like it better. It felt weird on Saturday though, we went out to lunch and then to florist and I felt like I had this fancy pants hair do with no place to go!

Before I go into my ADR's, I must take a moment to complain. About my cat. Ugh. Sulley is being a pain in the you know what. He won't leave alone. He literally was just laying across my arms while I was typing. I finally just scooted him and he goes to lay on the boxes of wedding stuff, knocking everything that was on top of the box. I think his co-dependency stems from us leaving him alone overnight on Friday. I shudder to think how he will be when we are away for the cruise and Disney. I even tripped over him last night when I got up to blow my nose for the 50th time. Good thing he is cute.
Back to why I am posting this.....ADR'S!
First, I am going to tell you what I have scheduled. Then I am going to tell you my concerns and then you are all going to help me. Deal? Deal. :thumbsup2
We have chosen to go with the Deluxe DP. DF and I like to eat, look at our pictures people. Also, I think it will be good for us with the breaks during the days. I am liking the fact that all I have to worry about is the tip and I won't have to worry about how many credits we have left, and it's prepaid for.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait. We are doing the dinner package for the seating for Fantasmic as well, that's why so early.
Tuesday September 2nd

I am trying to talk DF to get the Tonga Toast so I can get those yummy pineapple/macadamia pancakes and then share. Originally we were going to do the Ohana Best Friends Breakfast because I love Stitch but the pancakes were calling my name.

Iffy about this one as well. I like the concept but am not too sure about the food choices.

I am really considering canceling this one because I am not happy with the menu changes. Granted, I have never been there before but it doesn't sound as appealing to me anymore.
Friday September 5th

I can't wait to eat with Mary Poppins!
Saturday September 6th
Nothing is planned, not sure what time our flight will leave.
Thoughts? Questions? Concerns?
The ADR's are the most iffy part of my planning. I am not confident in all of my decisions yet. I have only ever done counter service while at the parks so I feel like I am hitting the jackpot and enjoying some of the dining experiences offered is important to me.
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Places you can't stand or places you dream about?

Okay, this is gross, but in light of the fact that you're sticking with my pre-trip after the weekend I've had, I'll post it. I love Chip and Dale. I have had awesome character interaction here, I mean above and beyond normal stuff. That being said, every time we eat here we end up...ahem...sick. :scared1: And I mean everyone, not just me. I am excited to eat here. I have wanted to ever since that Full House episode when Danny Tanner was trying to propose to his gf and Jesse and Joey ruined it in their scuba gear. :rotfl:
To this I say, everyone should try Prime Time at least once. It is fun. And the Smores are awesome.
Those smores are calling my name. :cloud9:
I think your ADRs look great. I'll peruse lists and see if there's anything else I think you guys might like. :)
We are totally up for suggestions. Thanks.

Has anyone out there tried Liberty Tree Tavern?? I watched the Disney special on Friday night on the Travel Channel and I didn't realize the characters were dressed up as Colonials. For some reason this excites me, history geek that I am. Just wondering if anyone had opinions or thoughts....???
And while I am asking questions....thoughts on Tony's at MK??

Hi! I finally get to DIS! :woohoo:
Every moment that we were at Pop last October, we loved it! Loved, loved, loved it! It has such a fun atmosphere! We were thinking of staying there this summer, but the idea of summer crowds at Pop kind of scared me. The food court is spectacular! Love those frozen Cokes, chili dogs, and tie-dyed cheesecake.
Your ADRs look good -- I think I could be happy eating at any of the restaurants on Disney property.

I don't think they will be -- even with free dining -- it won't be near as bad as summer or major holidays!

I really don't think it will be that bad. Plus, when you're traveling the two of you, I think it's easier to hop out of one line and into another. Or figure out your fastpasses, or whatever. I remember when DH and I used to go alone together before DS was born. Now, I wouldn't trade my DS for anything in the World or the world, but let me tell you, those days were mucho mucho easier! ;)

Congrats on the wedding, you guys are an adorable couple.
Our kitty Minniver is the same way.... we were just reading in bed and she jumped back and forth between the two of our stomachs.... Until she heard the birds out the window.... Then she was all about that
::::::Drumroll Please::::::
Saturday August 30th:
Rose & Crown Pub @ 8PM
We are arriving today, hopefully early morning flight so I am hoping to get some of Epcot in.
Sunday August 31st
Artist Point @ 5:30PM
I am so excited to eat here and I don't even know why. I also want to take a boat ride over to MK after dinner.
Monday September 1st
Garden Grill @ 11:10AM
I am not so sure about this one. I'm iffy.
Brown Derby @ 5:10PM
Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait. We are doing the dinner package for the seating for Fantasmic as well, that's why so early.
Tuesday September 2nd
Kona Cafe @ 9:20AM
I am trying to talk DF to get the Tonga Toast so I can get those yummy pineapple/macadamia pancakes and then share. Originally we were going to do the Ohana Best Friends Breakfast because I love Stitch but the pancakes were calling my name.
Coral Reef @ 4:30PM
I did this on the earlier side so we could maybe go to DTD that night. Plus after indulging in those pancakes, I probably won't need lunch.
Wednesday September 3rd
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Cinderella's Royal Table @ 8PM
The Mother Lode if you will for my birthday celebration. I can't wait, every time I think about it I get giddy and teary all at the same time.
Thursday September 4th
50's Prime Time Cafe @ 12:15PM
Iffy about this one as well. I like the concept but am not too sure about the food choices.
Le Cellier @ 8:05PM
I am really considering canceling this one because I am not happy with the menu changes. Granted, I have never been there before but it doesn't sound as appealing to me anymore.
Friday September 5th
1900 Park Fare @ 9:55PM.
I can't wait to eat with Mary Poppins!
Saturday September 6th
Nothing is planned, not sure what time our flight will leave.
You are hitting all my favorites... We are also doing the Fantasmic package when we go... same resturant too... The cast member was really fast to tell me how much she loves the Brown Derby resturant. And I have been doing the same thing everytime I think about eating at Cinderella's Castle. And on your birthday too? How awesome!!!
If you have never been there, 50's Prime Time Cafe is a real treat. The whole atmosphere, the comfort food is just awesome. I remember their Mac and Cheese and Grilled cheese with tomato and bacon was awesome. It was my favorite place to go when I went with my grandparents because the waitresses would reward me for cleaning my plate and chastise my grandma for not cleaning hers.
Thoughts? Questions?
I love the idea of going to different resturants around the world. If you are not happy with Le Cellier, maybe there is another resturant in the World Showcase. One of the thing that DBF and I want to do is eat our way around the world, but Le Cellier did not really look good to us either... we decided on Resturant Marrakesh instead.
Good luck! I can not wait to read more!

Three years ago, the ex asked me for a divorce the day before my birthday.
Just think now how wonderful of a gift that actually ended up being. Now you have your soul mate! Maybe you should call up your ex and thank him for the best gift ever! ;) I know that sounds a bit harsh, but in my book, cheating is pretty much the unforgiveable sin.
I'm so glad you've found happiness and true love. Ever after. :lovestruc
After much debating with DF, reading all those helpful Disney websites, we decided to go in September. Happy Birthday to Me!
I will, someday, get to the World for my birthday. That birthday pin WILL be mine!
I took a friend for her birthday about 5 years back and it was a wonderful experience for her. She got lots of special attention.
Read: GET THE PIN.
And Duck Tales!
Duck Tales Oo-ooo-ooh!
I was trying to find this picture earlier and couldn't but Voila, here it is. This was in October, we had just gotten engaged about two weeks before.

Me too! Except mine is usually the incoherent...book the Poly....book the Poly...(we're staying at the Pop) ;)
I am physically restraining myself from condoning this behavior. TK and Tinkerbellarella at the Poly at the same time?! The World wouldn't know what hit it.
Ok, so I can't help with many of your ADRs as I haven't eaten at many of them, so here's what I can offer:
Tuesday September 2nd
Kona Cafe @ 9:20AM
You had me at Tonga Toast.
Thursday September 4th
50's Prime Time Cafe @ 12:15PM
Iffy about this one as well. I like the concept but am not too sure about the food choices.
In my opinion, the food here is very good. Filling. Like home-cooked food but with a twist. And if you get a great server, there's no experience like it!
Le Cellier @ 8:05PM
I am really considering canceling this one because I am not happy with the menu changes. Granted, I have never been there before but it doesn't sound as appealing to me anymore.
I've never eaten here either and I too am sad to see the menu change, but I'm still going to give it a shot. I'm trying to keep the faith. (NOJonBonJovi)

OVE the babies! And the sleeping upside down is precious. It's almost like Ruby's saying with her eyes, "Would you LOOK at that? (rolls eyes) Unreal."
It's usually Sulley who has the look of disgust on his face while watching Ruby's latest antic. Right now she is dangling on the the door, she is literally walking across the top of the door. It's ridiculous and entertaining at the same time.
Thanks for your ADR input, I am still in a hot debate with myself with what to do. I read through the dining reviews in my WDW books again today and I am still torn. Stress? Disney? Stress isn't supposed to be at Disney! No, no my readers. Stress is what led to this trip. Stress and guilt. Let's travel back a few months......*insert trippy music*
At the end of September, the love of my life proposed to me. :lovestruc Yay! What fun. We had been talking of marriage and I knew my dear dear DF wanted a wedding, whereas I wanted to elope, do a destination wedding or dream of all dreams get married at WDW. Alas, DF's hearts desire was a wedding for all of his family to attend. I was overruled, because that's what happens in love.
Me, the one with no brains, decided to include future MIL in the wedding planning. MIL has no daughters and I wanted her to feel included as her oldest son was getting married. Little did I know what was in store for me...:scared:
I am going to list some of the highlights for you.
Offense #1 MIL was appalled that DF and I would be paying for this wedding ourselves. My parents had paid for the first (small wedding & honeymoon) and I wanted to pay for this myself. I'm no beggar! She made comments about their lack of financial involvement until DF finally told her to shush. Then she apologized in an awkward moment I care not to re-live.
Offense #2 I am wearing a pair of my grandmother's vintage earrings on the wedding day. She died when I was 13 and it was important to me to have a piece of her with me. They are pink rhinestones, a little large but so my grandmother and me. MIL exclaimed, "Those are gaudy" after I showed them to her. Let me just say people I had told her they were my grandmother's. I am still upset about this and have a hard time letting go, since as I was telling her the story of how I remembered my grandmother showing me these earrings as a little girl in her jewelry box I was teary eyed and telling her just how much it meant for me to wear them.
Offense #3 She is constantly comparing our wedding to all of the families wedding that have come before and will be coming this fall. I am tired of it.
Offense #4 I am constantly hearing how we will regret not having a large wedding, and WHY can't we have dancing!?! Ugh.
Offense #5 She thought our food choices were too high in calories. Could you please tell me who thinks of their calorie intake on their wedding day? Before the big day I understand but pul-lease!
Offense #6 She wanted to wear black to the wedding, our garden wedding that is being held at noon mind you.
Offense #7 DF has seen the design of my dress, he has also seen pictures of me in it, because if I trust anyone's opinion it is his. As he so lovingly said to me yesterday when I came home from work yesterday, "Did you wear your hair like that all day?" :thumbsup2 I don't believe in that hocus pocus, maybe I'm jaded but I don't care. My marriage won't survive because he didn't see me in the stinkin' dress. This troubles MIL greatly, she thinks we are doomed. She was showing me the non-black dress she got instead and when DF walked into the room she yelped, covered her dress and made him cover his eyes. Newsflash...you aren't the bride!
I could go on and on but I am starting to feel petty. This is just a little bit of what I have had to deal with. Not to mention that every time we tell her something we have decided, she counters that with what she thinks we should do.
Another stress point, my engagement ring. :scared: I wore it for 3 weeks and it broke. :scared: Yep, the prong on the setting snapped right off. I was devastated. Had to bring it in and be repaired. Takes a couple of weeks. Wear for a few more weeks, breaks again at the end of November. :scared: At this point I am livid and sad at the same time. The manager tells me that they should have special ordered it in my size instead of taking such a huge step in sizes. Okay. They repair my ring again but also custom order my engagement ring and band, it will be ready in February. My original ring breaks again in January. I am LIVID! :headache: I don't even bring it in to be repaired. I voice my displeasure to the place where every kiss begins with...you get the idea and they vow to make sure my new ring that still isn't in won't ever break. I get my new ring in February, because they essentially exchanged rings, I have 90 days to return it. Yep, you guessed it. It broke again, only this time one of the tiny side diamonds fell out. I was beyond angry, I thought DF was going to have a stroke he was so mad and we go back and exchange the ring. *** Side note, way back when I was engaged before with the ex, I cracked a diamond, yep. I hate engagement rings. :scared: Side note over *** We were in the store for about 2 hours, I was so scared to pick a ring, I tried on a million ones, they just didn't fit. Finally I found one, that I do truly love but oh wait for it...it won't be finished before the wedding. :scared: DF goes all Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde on the manager and said that they will get me a ring in time for the wedding. So they agree to size the ring that they have in stock while still custom ordering my other ring, so I will at least have one. On Monday, the store calls and says the "ring sizer" won't size the ring because it will compromise the design. Where the heck was this ring sizer way back when with my original ring! :scared: So DF goes Mr. Hyde and says they will size, my poor fiancée has been telling everyone they will see her new ring on her Bridal Shower this Saturday, you will size this ring. The store called tonight, the ring is in and I swear that if this breaks, I am never going to have an engagement ring. :::Sigh::: I am so nervous something else bad is going to happen with it. I will keep you posted with the Diamond Saga.
Tonight my stress level has hit the breaking point. My MIL called and I stupidly answered the phone and I just didn't want to talk to her, didn't want to answer her questions, just didn't want to deal. She actually asked me if something was wrong and this is what I wanted to say.......
"YES THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG....I HATE WEDDINGS AND IT IS ONLY BECAUSE I LOVE YOUR SON WITH ALL OF MY HEART THAT I AM GOING THROUGH THIS MADNESS...SO NO YOU CAN'T WEAR BLACK, NO MY EARRINGS ARE NOT GAUDY, OUR WEDDING PHOTOS ARE NOT A CHANCE FOR YOUR FAMILY PORTRAIT SESSIONS WITH EVERY EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBER ALIVE, IF YOU QUESTION OUR HONEYMOON REGISTRY ONE MORE TIME OR SUGGEST WE REGISTER FOR TOWELS THOSE TOWELS WILL BE SOMEWHERE NOT SO PLEASANT, NO I DON'T GET ALONG WITH MY GRANDMOTHER AND NO SHE IS NOT WEARING A FLOWER AND YES YOU NEED TO GO TO DISNEY MORE THAN ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!!!!!"
Yes, to top it all off she thinks our trip to Disney is wasteful and wouldn't we like to go somewhere more exciting like abroad....? :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:
Ahem. Now that I got that off my chest. I would like to say that I do love my MIL dearly, she is fine good hearted woman who just likes to do things her own way and has never had to deal with another woman in her son's life.
After repeatedly crying on DF's shoulder and saying that I wanted to elope, when I asked him to go to Disney he said, "Yes honey, when would you like to go?" :cloud9: So when the wedding stress is bringing me down I just try to go to my happy Disney place. Tonight it wasn't working so well so this post was born.
I think I am going to go watch Finding Nemo. :rolleyes1

My MIL tends to be opinionated and controlling also -- she can be wonderful, but sometimes she gets a little over-the-top. You will one day be able to tell her to stop -- it may take awhile but eventually you will be able to -- it took awhile for me because I hate conflict of any sort.
I am sure this engagement ring will last! :grouphug:

Ahhhh, little lady Lallie, I have but three things to say:
#1
I HATE WEDDINGS AND IT IS ONLY BECAUSE I LOVE YOUR SON WITH ALL OF MY HEART THAT I AM GOING THROUGH THIS MADNESS
Your sacrifice, which might seem "petty" to some is anything but. If I've learned nothing else about love in my 28.5ish short years on this planet, it's that first love is about compromise and sacrifice. Once you get that part down, EVERYTHING ELSE is a reward. I commend you on your sacrifice, I'm sure the reward will be tenfold. ;) Oh, wait...
when I asked him to go to Disney he said, "Yes honey, when would you like to go?"
It already is! :goodvibes
#2
You said your fiance's family is Italian, right?
Offense #5 She thought our food choices were too high in calories.
Are you sure? I'd fall down dead if my Italian nanna, or anyone on that side of the family for that matter, said something like this to me! :rotfl:
and #3
Offense #2 I am wearing a pair of my grandmother's vintage earrings on the wedding day.
:faint: I'm apalled for you!!! It seems like your MIL doesn't have that all-important "think before you speak" strainer that catches all the things we shouldn't say before we say them. I think she owes you an apology for this one.
I lost my gramma at 13 too. We were very, very close. She left me a beautiful necklace. I wore it constantly. I took it off before going to bed one night while at a friend's party. I put it on the nightstand beside me. When I woke up it was gone. So were most people who were at the party. I was beside myself. I'm still beside myself more than 8 years later.
Wear those earrings proudly.
And try not to be too stressed. I know that's easier said than done. This is YOUR day with DF. Not your MILs. Do your best to enjoy it. You deserve it.

Poor baby!!! :grouphug:
My MIL tends to be opinionated and controlling also -- she can be wonderful, but sometimes she gets a little over-the-top. You will one day be able to tell her to stop -- it may take awhile but eventually you will be able to -- it took awhile for me because I hate conflict of any sort.
I am sure this engagement ring will last! :grouphug:
Focus on your love for DF and your trip to Disney!!! :grouphug:
Enjoy Finding Nemo -- I :lovestruc Dory!
Thanks!

PM Away. It's nice to know I am not the only that has had to go through this kind of stuff.

Ahhhh, little lady Lallie, I have but three things to say:
#1
Your sacrifice, which might seem "petty" to some is anything but. If I've learned nothing else about love in my 28.5ish short years on this planet, it's that first love is about compromise and sacrifice. Once you get that part down, EVERYTHING ELSE is a reward. I commend you on your sacrifice, I'm sure the reward will be tenfold. ;) Oh, wait...
It already is! :goodvibes
You are so right, it's just hard. I feel like everyone is focused on what they want instead of me. Not that I am a little diva but it would be nice for people to care about what I want.
#2
You said your fiance's family is Italian, right?
Are you sure? I'd fall down dead if my Italian nanna, or anyone on that side of the family for that matter, said something like this to me! :rotfl: :
This is the ONE Italian gene that MIL does not have. She is obsessed with weight and what everyone eats. It is very hard to deal with because both DF and I struggle with our weight and I don't need a skinny toothpick commenting about what we eat, especially on our wedding day!
and #3
:faint: I'm apalled for you!!!
Thanks! I will wear those earrings proudly, they are so important to me. I like to think that MIL has Diarrhea of the mouth, she just can't control what comes out. Sorry TarzansKat if that bring unpleasant flashbacks of Pukefest 2008. :rotfl:
I am feeling better today, I am just trying to keep things in perspective.

Just checking in:flower3: . When I got married (the second time) I wore my grans heirloom cameo broach and yes it did make me feel she was there with us. Your earing are pretty and that's not the only reason you're wearing them, it's the right choice.
My DH was the same as your DF, I wanted an Intimate Disney wedding and he wanted the family wedding. I gave in and don't regret it. We had a wonderful day, a fantastic Disneymoon and I keep dropping hints about a Disney vow renewal one day as reward for my martyrdom  :lmao:

Yikes!
To give you a little teaser on the MIL...yours wants to wear black...mine wanted to wear ivory.
Which was the same color as my dress.
Which she knew, because she picked the vests. Because I told her what color my dress was so the groomsmen would match.
In DH's family, they were a different dress to church than the reception.
So during the sign of peace, in the house of the Lord, my new MIL leans over to me and says...and I quote..."my dress is the same color as yours."
I had no idea what she was talking about. Until later, when she showed me. At which point I practically burst into tears and asked her to change, because I was the bride, yadda, yadda. She held up my wedding reception for two-three hours to go buy a new dress.
Yes, you heard that right.
And that's not even half of it.

Perhaps we're forgetting manipulative?
Let me tell you, thank God DH stepped in and told MIL how it was going to be. Also, what really helped us is his two sisters getting married and starting to have their own families. And MIL cannot stand one of the husbands, so the focus has shifted. In that case, there's a very good reason, but that's not for here. So when the family gets bigger, it helps to take all the attention off of us is nice.
I worry for you, in the sense that it is so important to set boundaries now. Because let me tell you, if you think you have problems now, wait until you throw grandchildren into the mix.
Let the games begin! :lmao:

I have to admit the last few weeks hasn't been bad but I haven't really had to be around her or do any planning. This weekend will be a big test with the Bridal Shower. :scared: DF has spoken to her on a few occasions in regards to the way she treats me. DF's brother who I just adore, is appalled at the way his mother has treated me. His GF gets treated the same way so we get along wonderrrrrfully. I think if there is a "situation" after the wedding then I will confront her myself but for right now I am just trying to keep the peace. The holidays will be the next biggie. :dance3:

After getting our MNSSHP tickets yesterday I have been thinking about costume ideas.
Background Time! DF looooooves Zombies. His love of Zombies frightens me. He has a book entitled, "The Zombie Survival Guide". Seriously. About a month into dating, DF wants to watch a scary movie and of course because I am still trying to impress him I agree. We watch "House of 1,000 Corpses". I was scared out of my freaking mind, it made me doubt this nice guy, was he really nice? Yes, but I was still scared. I have flashbacks to this day and it was over two years ago. I seriously doubted DF's sanity because he enjoyed this movie so much.
Needless to say he was excited about costumes before I told him NO ZOMBIES. It's Disney. I also said it had to be Disney related because that's the kinda girl I am. We have never dressed up before so of course I would like our costumes to match or go together because again, that's the kinda girl I am. That's how I rooooll.
I would love to dress up as Mary Poppins & Bert but I know that isn't going to happen. I would have to make a whole lotta promises I don't intend to keep and eye lash batting to get that one and I just don't think I am up to the task. Right now I am thinking of at least getting Disney Character hats/ears to dress up with. Or maybe Pirates because that seems relatively easy to do and who doesn't love Pirates? Silly question to ask on this thread. Also, Pirates would be manly enough for DF.
Only time will tell what we will choose! :dance3:

I survived my shower! :jumping1: Having four mimosas before everyone arrived was an EXCELLENT idea. I love those little delish drinks! I am absolutely exhausted and most disturbances if you will were averted. I had one crying fit in the beginning when MIL pulled out the envelopes to have everyone address their own thank you's. ARGHHHHHHHHHHH! :furious: I hate that! No offense to anyone who has done this but I am super control freak and want to do my own, thank you very much! I dried my tears and took it like a champ. That is the bride way!
I made DF swear to me that he would let me decide if I want a baby shower in the future and that if I did his mom would NOT plan it. I am going to plan my own parties from now on! party:
I did talk to some of the females in my family about a girls only trip to WDW next fall. I really want to take my Mom down with me, we would have such a great time. WDW is not my dad's thing so I want to go with my mom and just do what she wants. She enjoys it. I think I am going to work on her and if I get offered a bounceback booking for next year I think I am just going to do it and try to talk her into it. While I was talking, her best friend and one of my Aunt's was interested so it's an idea. I also told them all about the Dis and how wonderful and fantabulous it is. :disrocks:
On the way home from the shower we stopped and bought a printer :woohoo: and I went to Michaels and bought a bunch of stuff for my trip binder. :woohoo: Hopefully tomorrow will be a Dis, Creating, Dusting day. I love bunnies but not the dust kind! :laundy:

Right now our reservation stands at August 30th - September 6th at Pop Century in a Preferred Room. DF wants a king size bed, personally I don't care. If there are two beds, I will be further away from his loud snoring.
I've stayed at both POP and POFQ....POFQ is very nice but I don't know where the romantic part comes from....unless you take a private carriage ride. POP is the best choice for values for adults without kids IMO. You probably don't need the Preferred room if you want to save some cash....we were all the way in the back and I didn't think the walk was bad at all. Stick with the King bed...my DH wanted it too....it makes the room roomier and remember at the values (and mods I think) the 2 beds are fulls, not queens. Oh and just so your not surprised...some of the King bed rooms are handicap accessible....I remember there was no tub...but a roll in shower. I thought I wouldn't like it but it was fine.
We have chosen to go with the Deluxe DP.
I'm a bit confused...on most days you have only one TS meal listed...are you not making ADR's for lunches? Because with Deluxe you get 3 TS meals a day if you want...are you doing a lot of CS meals???
Saturday August 30th:
Rose & Crown Pub @ 8PM
We are arriving today, hopefully early morning flight so I am hoping to get some of Epcot in.
Haven't been since 2001...I would try it again if I was on the dinning plan.
Sunday August 31st
Artist Point @ 5:30PM
I am so excited to eat here and I don't even know why. I also want to take a boat ride over to MK after dinner.
I've read excellent reviews on this restaurant...would love to go if it wasn't for the little DS
Monday September 1st
Garden Grill @ 11:10AM
I am not so sure about this one. I'm iffy.
This is on my never list...don't like the menu and IMO there are so many better restaurants in World Showcase....that being said...some people go every vacation
Brown Derby @ 5:10PM
Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait. We are doing the dinner package for the seating for Fantasmic as well, that's why so early.
I think you'll have a great meal here.
We're trying it in October!
Coral Reef @ 4:30PM
I did this on the earlier side so we could maybe go to DTD that night. Plus after indulging in those pancakes, I probably won't need lunch.
I've read too many bad reviews of this place for me to go there...the plus is that you have an early ADR time...I've heard the waits are really long....in a hallway
Wednesday September 3rd
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Cinderella's Royal Table @ 8PM
The Mother Lode if you will for my birthday celebration. I can't wait, every time I think about it I get giddy and teary all at the same time.
You will have a wonderful time here...make sure they know it's your birthday!
Thursday September 4th
50's Prime Time Cafe @ 12:15PM
Iffy about this one as well. I like the concept but am not too sure about the food choices.
I've gone here and agree with everyone else...I think it's a good choice for lunch!
Le Cellier @ 8:05PM
I am really considering canceling this one because I am not happy with the menu changes. Granted, I have never been there before but it doesn't sound as appealing to me anymore.
Keep the ADR....the steak is really good....and the whiskey cake is yummy!....don't be afraid to ask for a different side then what is offered with your entree and if you don't want a sauce or something get it on the side....I ordered like that everytime we're gone there. The only reason we arent' going in October is that we're not on the dinning plan (plus it's Food & Wine Fest)
Friday September 5th
1900 Park Fare @ 9:55PM.
I can't wait to eat with Mary Poppins!
We had to cancel in Jan 07 because I was too tired....I was preggers at the time....it's still on my radar for October.
My only only comment is that I wonder if you are getting your money's worth on the Deluxe dinning if these are your only TS meals.
I worry for you, in the sense that it is so important to set boundaries now. Because let me tell you, if you think you have problems now, wait until you throw grandchildren into the mix.
I second that....set boundaries and you need to speak up as things are being said or happening right then in there. Once you have kids its your job to do what's best for your little family...it's possible to be respectful of your in-laws while still making sure that your family's wants and needs are respected. I have too many girl friends that can't say no to the in-laws...not me :rolleyes1

I was at a baby shower last fall (DH's side of the family) that did that with the envelopes....I find it tacky. It's good manners to send a thank you card...some of us joked "do they want us to write the thank you note too? and all she has to do is sign it?" It's so tacky....

I was at a baby shower last fall (DH's side of the family) that did that with the envelopes....I find it tacky. It's good manners to send a thank you card...some of us joked "do they want us to write the thank you note too? and all she has to do is sign it?" It's so tacky....
My coworker went to a shower where they actually did a "mad lib" thank you and just filled in the blanks with their gift! She said it was awful. I am glad someone else finds it tacky. I wish I just had the guts to remove the envelopes.
I'm very lucky that I have great girlfriends...we spent years throwing each other wedding and baby showers....I was the last to have a baby shower and I told them up front that I didn't want a surprise shower...we actually had it at my house.
That's so awesome. My mom would do a great job with a shower but it was MIL butting in. She came to my mom's today and totally took over the whole house and ran the party. It was ridiculous.
Sounds like fun! 2008 or 2009?
Sorry, that wasn't very clear! 2009. I am going with DF this fall.
My binder wears designs by Michael's too!:rotfl2:
It's the latest fashion craze!
I am going to reply to your post about ADR's, I tweaked them a bit last night and just haven't had time to post about them. My brain isn't at a high functioning level right now.

If it was me I would not use them...when I got my handwritten envelope back in the mail I was reminded of the tackiness all over again....if we feel this way there is a good chance some of your guest do too and would like your hand written thank you address.

I honestly don't think I am going to use them. My mom kept telling me it was MIL's way of helping me be less stressed but it did the opposite. I am sure it will be a huge deal when MIL gets an envelope addressed in my writing...oh well! I feel as though if someone takes the time to buy me a gift the polite thing to do is write my own thank you and envelope.

Another New Englander, yes! Just caught up with your PTR. I love your writing and have a feeling we would get along just great in the "real" world. DBF and I also met on a dating website. It's been 2 1/2 years and going strong! I'm sorry that your MIL is so tacky! Even though DBF and I aren't married, and don't know if we ever want to be, his mother refers to me as her DIL and is also a major Disney freak! She is great except for the couple of times she called me his ex-wifes name. She is very scatter-brained though, so I know she hasn't realized when she's done it. She even calls Saratoga Springs "Sarasota" Springs. It always makes me chuckle. :lmao: Anyways, enough about me. I absolutely LOVE those earrings! They look like something out of the 40's or 50's and I love everything from that era. I hope that the rest of your wedding planning is less stressful. Just keep going to your Disney spot when you feel the need to rip her head off. Oh, and we will be in Disney 9/5-9/12 so we'll just miss each other! Although we will be in MK on the 5th. And you guys should definitely dress up. Although remember that it is still 90+ degrees at that time. I made DBF dress up last year as Jack Sparrow and I wore my Snow White dress and we almost died from the heat in those polyester costumes! I told him that this year we can just wear t-shirts with characters and matching hats or something. Sorry this post was so long, but just wanted to catch up. I will be subbing for sure! :goodvibes

When we last left our brave heroine, she was battling with her ADR's....
I have made a few changes and will go into more detail as well with what our plans will be for that day. I am also going to help myself with the deluxe dining plan credits. The way I understand it and please correct me if I am wrong. DF and I will have 21 meal credits each ( 3 x 7 nights) and 14 snack credits each (2 x 7 nights). It's a lot of food, but boy oh boy can we eat! Also we are trying out some signature restaurants and honestly, I would rather pay the money and know that I don't have to worry about food at all. It's less stressful for me and if I have snack credits left over, so be it. Don't curse me money gods! I have promised myself and DF that after the wedding we are going to crack down with the exception of this trip. After all, I want to be able to plan a trip for next year! :rotfl:
Day One - Saturday August 30th.
Snack at Everything Pop - 1 Snack Credit or 1 Meal Credit Each
Rose & Crown @ 8PM - 1 Meal Credit Each
We are planning on an early morning flight, hopefully the airlines will cooperate when we go to buy our tickets. Check into Pop Century, woo hoo! We will probably meander around checking out the pools, food court and perhaps we will partake in one of TK's slushie cokes. I am assuming we will be pretty hungry and need lunch or a snack at this point. I say meander but knowing me, I will be chomping at the bit to get into a park, more than likely we will head to Epcot ASAP. My tentative plan is to maybe catch a ride or two before our dinner. Rose & Crown was one of the first places that I knew was a must try. I love fish & chips! I am also hoping to get an outside table to watch Illuminations. I am super excited about this as I have never ever seen any parade or fireworks show at WDW. :scared: I am ashamed of myself! I plan to make up for that this trip.
Day Two - Sunday August 31st.
Crystal Palace @ 8:20AM - 1 Credit Each
Counter Service Lunch or Snack of some sort depending on hunger levels.
Artist Point @ 5:30PM - 2 Credits Each
Peer pressure works every time! At the words of loyal Disers and the desire to have pictures in an almost empty park, I called on Friday night and booked Crystal Palace! Woo Hoo!! I am pretty excited about this now. I have always wanted to eat here, it looks so nice on the inside. Also, I covet a picture with very few people in it. My brother went to WDW in January a few years ago and they didn't even do early entry and there was NO ONE in their picture. I was shocked and amazed and hope to have some good photo ops before breakfast or after. I have heard tales of MK being pretty crowded the day before Labor Day, so I am thinking we might just take in a few rides/attractions before moseying back to Pop and partaking in the glorious pool. Or perhaps if we aren't super tired, we might head to Downtown Disney. I want to be flexible yet have some kind of game plan. This was originally the day I slated for AK but I think I have changed my mind. After taking a break at Pop or DTD, we will head to the Wilderness Lodge for our Artist Point reservations. I am also excited to eat here. They start serving at 5:30 so I am not expecting too long of a wait. After dinner I would like to take a ride over to MK on the boat and catch Spectro Magic and Wishes. I spoke with a CM on the phone when I first made this reservation and she said she checked the times for me and said they were both playing that night. I am not sure if they actually have the times planned already so I am taking what she told me with a grain of salt but plan to check when we get there. Also on my to do list is to catch the Electric Water Pageant. MK is on evening extra hours for this day so I am not sure if we will brave the park that evening or not.
Day Three - Monday September 1st.
Coral Reef @ 11:30AM - 1 Credit Each
Brown Derby Fantasmic Pkg @ 5:10PM - 2 Credits Each
I am not sure if we will grab some breakfast this morning or not, if we do it will probably be something small at Everything Pop on our way to Epcot. I plan to hit the rides we missed on our first night in the Future World portion of the park. (I plan to write about the not to be missed attractions for this trip down the road a bit.) Lunch at Coral Reef. I have mentioned before either here or on TK's PTR that I have wanted to eat at Coral Reef since I watched the Full House episode when Danny Tanner was trying to propose to his gf Vicki. Of course those lovable guys, Uncle Jesse and Joey managed to mess it up by swimming by in the tank. To my younger self it was the epitome of elegance and wedding proposals. I need to eat here, case closed. In each day I have built in breaks. The last trip I had was miserable without them and I got tired too quickly so I am trying avoid that this time around. We'll head back to Pop, swim, nap, whatever until it's time to head over to DHS for BROWN DERBY!   I am so super excited and can't wait. Cobb Salad here I come!! We have booked the Fantasmic package so I think we might be able to stroll the park before we have to be at the meeting point at 8pm for our priority seating. Fantasmic begins at 8:30PM. DHS is having EMH that night. I have never participated in EMH. The time the park is closing is posted at 10PM. Does that include EMH or is there more hours after that...?? I am confused. If so, we will probably hit up some rides if we aren't too tired and maybe attempt to get some nighttime pictures of the park.
To Be Continued....our ADR Heroine must go make dinner. :goodvibes

Day Four - Tuesday September 2nd.
Kona Cafe @ 9:20AM - 1 Credit Each
Counter Service Lunch ? - 1 Credit Each
Les Chefs des France @ 7PM - 1 Credit Each
I know everyone dreams of Tonga Toast, but alas, Lallie dreams of...Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes. Though she does keep talking up Tonga Toast to DF so he will order and share. Yum! After the gumminess a couple of different things could happen. I have been hearing good things about photo sessions at Grand Floridian and they just added the Poly to where you can have your pics taken. I would like to do this. I think it could become a tradition depending on how it goes. I am eagerly awaiting Disers to post their pics of Poly sessions to finalize which resort to have them taken at. If we choose Poly then we could do this after breakfast. I will make sure to bring outfits to change into, I don't want remnants of Tonga Toast on our shirts. I have heard rumors of them adding Wilderness Lodge by September as well...so I might have to pick WL if it's true. If we don't do the photos this day then I think we will head over to Epcot to partake in World Showcase festivities before our ressies at Les Chefs des France. Or maybe we will explore some of the resorts before heading to Epcot. The sky is the limit! If we are hungry, we will do a CS either at a resort or Epcot or maybe just a snack. It's all up in the air. I am pretty excited about trying Les Chefs des France, I have read some good reviews and after taking French for 6 years I think I should see how rusty I really am.
Day Five - Wednesday September 3rd a.k.a. My Birthday! :hyper:
Breakfast ?
Counter Service Lunch ? - 1 Credit Each
Cinderella's Royal Table @ 8PM - 2 Credits Each princess:
Woo Hoo! The day I have been waiting for!! Since I nixed AK on Day 2, I am thinking that we will hit up the park on this day. I know it won't be an all day event just a few must see's and then moving on. I am assuming we will take a break at Pop to rest up for the big moment. I am not a big breakfast eater so I am not sure what we will do. Lunch will probably be CS at AK or maybe Everything Pop, who knows. If I can't contain my excitement and want to get to MK earlier than I will have my Casey's hot dog. It's my birthday and I will eat where I want too. Then on to the Main Event! Dinner at Cinderella's Castle. :cloud9: I really truly can't wait. I don't care if the food is awful, I don't care if I have to wait. I am going to eat in THE Castle on MY Birthday. :cloud9: I subtly sent the link to special order birthday cakes to DF so I am hoping he got the hint, the threatening "YOU MUST DO THIS" might be a little over his head. I am sure I will be itching to get to the park and ride my favorites while proudly displaying my birthday button before dinner. After dinner, more rides? I doubt we will have time because the parks closes at 10PM. Alas, the birthday day will come to an end and I will have fulfilled a girlhood dream. :cloud9:
Day Six - Thursday September 4th.
50's Prime Time Cafe @ 12:15PM - 1 Credit Each
Le Cellier @ 8:05PM - 1 Credit Each
Again, I am not sure about Breakfast. MK is having Morning EMH's and I have heard yummy things about Breakfast at the Main Street Bakery. Are they open early? I dunno. If we don't want to get up early and head to MK then we will go to DHS at Park Opening. I love DHS. Last time I went, I tried SciFi Drive In. It was okay. We didn't have a car table and were right by the kitchen but it was cool to eat at once. The food was okay. I guess I have had one TS at WDW. I totally forgot, that is how memorable it was. So this time, we are trying 50's. I am luke warm about this but everyone insists we should try it once and I'm game! I can't wait to eat those yummy looking s'mores. After DHS we'll stop off back at Pop before going to Epcot again to test out Le Cellier. Yep, I have decided to keep the ressie. You only live once and I was really excited so I am going to keep it. Day Six is really an iffy day as far as food goes. I am not completely set with these so if something came up and we wanted to do something else, I wouldn't cry about canceling them.
Day Seven - Friday September 5th.
1900 Park Fare @ 9:55AM - 1 Credit Each
Counter Service Dinner ? - 1 Credit Each
Today is my breakfast date with Mary Poppins! This is another highlight of my trip that DF is indulging me with. Poor DF, I might as well give him a princess crown for the week then I remember my wedding stress and I :lmao: . Life has a way of balancing out in my humble opinion. Because of the late hour, I am assuming this will count as brunch for us. Originally we were going to leave this day but I batted my eyelashes to DF and we booked another night for MNSSHP!!! princess: pirate: :wizard: I am pretty excited and still debating costumes. I think we are planning dinner at MK, if I don't get my Casey's hot dog tonight will be the night. Other than that, there are no plans. Pool? DTD? Nap? AK? Epcot? DHS? Who knows!?!
Day Eight - Saturday September 6th :sad2:
That dreaded day, the day we go home. We are hoping for a later flight just to prolong the magic but I have this little clock inside my brain. It's the clock that goes haywire if I have to go somewhere that wants to get it done as early as possible....even go home! From WDW! :scared1: Can you believe it? I can't. If we do get a later flight, we might check out some last minute things. We have gotten Park Hoppers for the 8 days so it is a possibility.
That concludes our ADR's...for now. I plan to get more in depth about our Park activities someday soon. Can't give it away all at once! And if anyone can answer my questions that were thrown out there about EMH's such, it would be greatly appreciated!

Okay, we do for my OCD planning tendencies. I forgot to post my total Deluxe Dining Plan meal credits.
If I am counting correctly, out of the 21 meal credits we have, I have planned for 18 of the credits. That doesn't include any snack credits, but I am assuming we will use those as we go along. That means we have 3 Meal credits unaccounted for, I think that is a good number to have to play with. Again, I rather not have to worry about anything but the gratuity. I am going all out for this trip! If I don't like the way the Dining Plan goes, then I won't use it again.
Next up....unless I change my mind, it is my trip report after all...the list of must do's.

Needless to say he was excited about costumes before I told him NO ZOMBIES. It's Disney.
You could do something Haunted Mansion-esque. I'm thinking of the dining room with the dancing ghosts. The costumes might end up being a little elaborate, but they would be neat!
By the way, your dining plans look great! I've heard good things about the pancakes at Kona.

We always made our costumes too. We never had store bought. My mom has always made the best costumes. She made a mermaid a few years back for a 3 year old, she was so cute. She had the tail but she was able to walk and not see her feet very much. Very cute! She has the costumes saved if me or my brother ever have little girls :goodvibes

Yesterday and today, I have been going through our trip in my mind and wondering if I have made the right decisions. The biggest thing I am grappling with right now is the time of year.....
I have been wanting to do WDW in early December for YEARS but somehow when it comes time to plan a trip, I sway in my desire and book a different time. I know this time around the hope of free dining pushed me into September as well as taking a full week. BUT if I think fast and change my mind, I could always push my vacation back to December. :::SIGH::: I just don't know. It's like I have planner's remorse or something. :confused3
I know if I bring my doubts up to DF he will point out that I have already purchased MNSSHP tickets and they will go to waste if we change dates, which is a very valid point but minor to me in the GRAND SCHEME of Disney. Christmas is my favorite holiday, I love the atmosphere of the Holidays and would love to experience WDW at that time. I go nuts every time I look at Christmas WDW Pictures and the castle all lit up! :cloud9:
I am worried about DF being miserable in the heat, I know I can handle it but he hates being hot and sweaty and I don't want him to be miserable, at least it would be a bit cooler in December. Also, I am worried that we will be sore constantly in September because we haven't been serious about getting in better shape. *Note to self...exercise!
I would have to redo all my ADR's, which I have been doubting since the beginning but now after typing them all up, I am worried our whole trip will consist of rushing from ADR to ADR.
I am just feeling bleck about the whole thing, not going but the details.
Also we were thinking of going to Disneyland in Feb. We found a really good deal on a Good Neighbor Hotel and we booked it with the ability to cancel it without losing anything 48 hours in advance, so I have to think about that too. It's hard for me to commit to going to Disneyland when I know I love WDW so much, but I know I want too someday.
Ack. I am diagnosing myself with a full blown case of planner's remorse-itis.

Oh, hon. I don't really have any wisdom here.
My whole plan this year was to actually go in December to celebrate DH's as yet unamed birthday. That being said, free dining came out. I succumbed.
Also, where I work, every single week in December is taken for vacation time by one of my co-workers. The ladies who have been there longer have more PTO as they've climbed the ladder, and they're required to use it before the end of the year. I think the carry-over is a week, max. So usually, December is the mad dash to use up the leftover PTO. That being said, if I had begged, would my supervisor let me go? Probably.
But did I mention the free dining? :lmao:
And, where I work, no one goes away in September. This year, one of my co-workers is gone a week, but she works on the platform side, so it won't affect us as tellers. So, September it is.
Just remember that whatever you decide, you need to be happy with it.
If you're worried about the heat, just take it slow. Don't worry about doing everything. You will go back. A lot. And bring your future kiddos there. I see lots of Disney trips in your future, hon. So pick whatever time of year makes you happy and run with it! :thumbsup2

You always have such wise words of wisdom. I am feeling lots of pressure with this trip since the last one was such a letdown. I hardly did any of my favorites and still feel like I missed out on a lot. Plus it's DF and I's first trip together and I want it to be special, not that it will be hard to make it special. I think December isn't going to work this year, I looked at the vacation schedule and it will be too tight with everyone else. Maybe next year. I think I am going to call and see if anything is available at WL or Poly or even maybe one of the mod's. Maybe I can use your bag of tricks to convince DF. :thumbsup2

Look at it this way - Disney's not going anywhere. This is what I tell myself when I have the same doubts, or even when, after the vacation, I'm regretting all of the things I didn't get to do.
You'll definitely have the opportunity to visit again in the future. You're a Disney lover - you'll MAKE the opportunity. ;)
BUT, if you really do the pros and cons and the time of year is worth more to you than free dining, then do it! It's all about what YOU and DF want to do. In terms of the MNSSHP tickets, you could always sell them for face value on the DIS or even craigslist.
I am worried about DF being miserable in the heat, I know I can handle it but he hates being hot and sweaty and I don't want him to be miserable, at least it would be a bit cooler in December.
It can still be pretty hot. Just keept that in mind.
Also, I am worried that we will be sore constantly in September because we haven't been serious about getting in better shape. *Note to self...exercise!
Regardless of when you go, September or December, exercising is a must. You can always take it slow, but no matter what, Disney = a lot of walking. Maybe you can turn it into something fun or romantic - after dinner strolls with DF now that it's light out and the weather's nicer.
I am worried our whole trip will consist of rushing from ADR to ADR.
Have you thought about downgrading to the regular dining package? Premium might be too much. I agree.
Do Disneyland if you can! I went and though it wasn't memorable, that's not because it wasn't fun or because it didn't hold a candle to Walt Disney World. It was for other, non-Disney-related reasons. Disneyland is the original. I think everyone should experience it.
Just remember that this is all supposed to be fun! Including the planning. Don't stress about it. You'll make the right decisions and I'm sure you'll have fun, no matter what.

Do you think you would feel better about Sept. if you dropped the Deluxe dinning? Try it on for size. That's what I did for MNSSHP...I didn't know if we should really go and when I thought thru it all with no Halloween Party I felt no stress....so there was my answer....no MNSSHP for us.
As for the weather...well you can't control that....I went the last week of Jan/first week of Feb 2007 and it was mild....wore a sweatshirt for most of the vaca....but Jordan went in Feb 2008 and it was hotter then you know what. You can save going at Christmas for when you have more money and really do it up right.

First of all...I would like to thank TK, if not for her fearless and brave upgrade this morning to the Lodge that is Wilderness, I would not be so happy right now. :yay::woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:
That's right folks! I upgraded, partially. Partially, you ask!?! Let's journey back in time two hours...
Lady Lallie could not convince her DF to upgrade the entire stay to WL, in fact she didn't even try. She first mentioned that she would really love to stay at WL when she got home from work and that it couldn't be that much more money. DF said, "I want to stay there but it is so expensive, I don't see it happening." She mentioned the Poly, dang it, DF remembered that it was more expensive than WL. Thinking quick on her feet, she said, how about just free dining, not deluxe, DF looked puzzled. What about staying at WL for 1/2 the stay with free dining all around. DF looked even more puzzled. DF didn't want to give up deluxe dining so suggested Lady Lallie call for a quote and call she did! Yet, she was upset, the price would go up $880 to stay at WL for 4 nights, Pop for 3 with deluxe dining. She hung up dismayed, seeing her deluxe hope and dreams sail away into the sunset. But then  ! She quickly ran through her dining credits, did math in her head, no small task my friends and thought....what if....we did Pop for 4 nights with deluxe dining and WL for three nights with free dining. Zut Alors! It just may work!
And it did! Yayayayaya!!! Let me rejoice in my happy Wilderness Lodge dance with TK
:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :worship: :yay: :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2: :flower3: :grouphug:
Let's do more Disney math, shall we?
Previous Package:
Pop Century Preferred Room, 7 nights. Magic Your Way 8 Day Park Hoppers with Deluxe Dining.
Total : $1,760.42
Current Packages: We had to book two packages with two deposits for the two different resorts.
Pop Century Preferred Room 8/30 - 9/3, 4 nights, Magic Your Way 7 Day Park Hoppers with Deluxe Dining.
Pop Total : $1,245.50
* I did try to get out of the preferred room to save extra cash but no standard rooms were open, I will try back to change it to save a teeny bit more moolah.
Wilderness Lodge Standard Room, 9/3 - 9/6, 3 nights, 1 day Park Ticket (had to get with package) with Free Dining.
WL Total : $912.90
Grand Total : $2,158.40
For a mere difference $397.98, I am staying at two resorts that I want to stay at and I get to glory in all the deluxe-iness.
I do realize that I won't get an appetizer with free dining, no big loss to me and with the way our credits will work, I may have to pay OOP for minor meals, for example, Casey's Hot Dog but that is not set in stone. I went with the Deluxe Dining while at Pop because we have more expensive meals planned during those days. Artist Point, Brown Derby and Cinderella's Royal Table. The woman thought my 1 day ticket would be good for entry on my next trip as long as I didn't use it, is this true? Won't it expire 14 days from when I check in or am I confused? We will be switching resorts on the day of my Birthday but that's okay with me! Plus I am hoping to relax more on the later part of our trip so hopefully WL will make us want too. I am assuming there will be no problem using the disney transportation in between the resorts with our luggage on switching day. Has anyone ever had any problems?
I don't think I will have to change much around as far as ADR's go, just maybe take off a few for the last part of the week to make more sense of the credits we will have to use.
Most importantly, DF is happy because I am happy and that just makes me warm and fuzzy that he is willing to put up with my Disney Craziness to make me happy. :cloud9:
Thanks again TK, if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have spent my workday looking at WL pictures and thinking that we should just go for it. I am so excited and I didn't even have to use my feminine wiles. I know this power of persuasion I have with DF will go out the window when we get married so I am taking advantage of it and saving my bag of tricks.

FABBY NEWS:cool1: We stayed at WL last summer and it was amazing. We were using airline staff travel (standby:scared1: ) last year and had to travel a day earlier than we first thought because the load on the flight were horrendous. We couldn't get booked for the extra night in WL so booked the ASMovies. We got the baggage transfered the next day and took the bus to MK and then the boat to WL. It all went really smoothly, no problems at all.
I adore the boat journey at night back to WL and the walk up the path way from the boat dock it is just:cloud9: and one of my happiest Disney memories:love:

Some tips off the top of my head. Roaring Forks can get really busy in the morning for breakfast but their cinnamon rolls topped with crushed pecans are heavenly, some morning's we sent DH down for breakfast and ate it in our room. Make time to have a mooch about the resort it's so beautiful, check out the geyser and if you go down to the beach (I thing around 9pmish) you can watch the electric water pagent. In the morning the boat goes directly to MK and returns via FW afternoon it reverses this route and returns to WL first. We took the ferry over to FW and ate at Trails End then went to explore, we fully intended waiting for the Campfire singalong/movie but we had a two year old in tow(nuf said;) )
If I think of anything else I'll post. Here are a few pics to get you in the mood (though they may be giant as my photobucket is allergic to resizing at the moment:sad2: )

I am in total agreement. It's stressful to be in charge but I couldn't handle not knowing to the penny what I have in the bank or what I owe for bills. I tried to let DF balance the checkbook a few weeks ago and it was completely wrong. All the guy had to do was enter in the receipts and subtract, I still don't get what he did to be so wrong, so I had to go fix it. I let him do the house chores and I do the financial ones. :rotfl2:

I tried to let DF balance the checkbook a few weeks ago and it was completely wrong. All the guy had to do was enter in the receipts and subtract, I still don't get what he did to be so wrong, so I had to go fix it. I let him do the house chores and I do the financial ones. :rotfl2:
Sounds like you've found a plan that works! DH and I split household stuff, one day a week he does thorough cleaning, the other day, I do it, and we split normal stuff like laundry and unloading the dishwasher, etc. DH has never even asked to be in charge of finances, I don't think he's interested. It occurred to me this past year he probably had no clue as to what we had, and I wasn't really accountable to anyone by not sharing. Therefore, I now make a point to bring him up to speed every now and then and make sure we're on the same page. That way, when I say, hey, let's stay at the Wilderness Lodge, he can say...okay, feasible. :thumbsup2

We split household stuff too, but he does more of it than I do. When I was in HS, my mom asked my dad to deposit a check for her...he drove to the wrong bank. He literally didn't realize that they had switched banks even though he had gone in to open the accounts with her years and years ago. DF knows the bigger picture not just the details, like trying to pay a bill online would be beyond him. I have all the passwords stored so that he can look them up if needed one day. :rotfl:

I am in charge of the household finances, too, because I am the control freak in the family -- it is hard, especially when I want to spend, spend, spend, and I have to stop myself.

I have tried to get out of a lot of spending habits. I have succeeded in not buying DVD's and books. I WAS doing great not going to the craft stores...but then I saw SOMEONES binder!! The Dis is costing me lots of money! Money well spent!! :rotfl:

The DIS can be a bad influence on spending money -- I wonder sometimes if I would have bought as much as I have for this trip if I wasn't always seeing things on the DIS. All for a worthy cause though!

I was looking at that link on your PTR about the printouts....you just print the tip envelopes out and then leave them for the CM's at meals and various other activities?? I assume you print them out on actual envelopes but they looked huge to me. :confused3

I was thinking of my good fortune this morning as I was driving to work listening to the "Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix" book on CD. Not only am I marrying the love of my life this year and going on a honeymoon cruise to Bermuda but I get to go to WDW as well. Not that I measure my good fortune in material things but comparing this year to three years ago when I got divorced, I just can't believe the changes in myself and in my life. :goodvibes
That said, back to Disney! :rotfl2:
I also realized on my morning drive musings that this WDW trip is full of firsts for me.
* 1st time with DF, well he will be DH at the time of the trip.
* 1st time staying on WDW property, Pop & WL here we come!
* DF's first time going to Animal Kingdom. The last time he was there was 1996 so he has a lot of new things to check out.
* 1st time going in the month of August & September. Previously, I have been in February, April, July and November. DF went in July.
* 1st time on Dining Plans.
* 1st time using Magical Express.
* 1st time having any ADR's
* 1st time attending MNSSHP
* 1st time to eat in Cinderella's Castle
* 1st time to see Capt Jack in POTC! I am very excited for this!!
* 1st time to see Wishes, Illuminations and Fantasmic!
Writing this list just makes me even more excited. I am really grateful that we get to go "all out" for this trip. I am especially grateful that I am going with DF, I can't wait to share my happy place with him. Plus, he promised we could buy the bride and groom ears since it will only be two months after our wedding. I have dreamed of wearing those ears for many years and I can't wait!! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo Plus my birthday button!
I have been reworking our itinerary and also my must do lists for each park, hopefully I can post something more tonight. :dance3:

I should count myself lucky in that DH is excellent with laundry and cleaning. He also is a better cook than I am, but usually that task falls to me because I'm home earlier. Ah well...every now and then I get really, really good Italian food. That's okay though, I'm the baker of the family. I love, love, love to bake. So if you ever eat at my place when DH cooks and I make dessert...yum, yum! Can you tell I'm hungry right now?

DF is a very good cook! He cooks most of the time but I have certain meals that I make. We are having takeout tonight.
There is a dog in the next building over from mine and I saw him out today and it reminded me of you...why you ask!? His name is Captain Jack! Hehehe. DH asked if I wanted takeout Chinese last night. It sounded sooooo good, but I am trying really hard to stick to a budget. We've had a barage of medical bills hit lately since we haven't hit our deductible yet, and although we have the money, I'm trying to cut out the frivolous expenses for a little bit. (And no, my cookie dough doesn't count.) ;)

Mmmmm...I really want cookie dough. We go out or have takeout about once a week, we used to be really bad about it but we have cut way down. It's such a waste of money but it's nice to do. I was doing really well on a budget before the wedding and then you are at the craft store or wherever spending lots of money so what's $20 more? I want to get back on a strict budget in July.....though me purchasing crocs today didn't help! I went online and found two pairs for $50 with discounts so I decided to go for it, I have wanted some for a long time and if I don't like them I can return them for free.

In all seriousness, would you let me know how you like the Crocs? I now only wear Merrells which have unbelievable support, but I'm intrigued by all the people who swear by Crocs.
I totally understand about takeout. We used to do it a lot, too, and it was so nice. But since I've made a budget, I try to save our indulgent takeout splurges for towards the end of the month if I know we have a little extra money kicking around. Now, however, that extra kicking money will be kicking its way over to my vacation savings for my lovely Wilderness Lodge fiesta! Last month was just a bad month budget wise. It seemed like everything hit all at once, car insurance, medical bills, etc, etc. :) Ah well. It's a new month, we start over.

I will let you know. I am very intrigued by them, have been since they came out. I ordered a cute pair of the mary jane ones and flip flops so not the originals ones but I have to have some kind of girlishness to them. My mom swears by Merrells and she bought the croc flip flops last year and even convinced my dad to wear them and they both love them. She has problems with her ankles too, so they must be supportive for her.

That's all you can do, start over. DF needs tires and some work done to his truck, bleck. I am not looking forward to that, we are trying to baby it until after the wedding. I am famous for doing really well and kicking booty on the budget and I deprive myself for so long that I crack and then go hog wild and undermine the months of hard work. I am trying a new approach of balance and so far it is working but it will be the real test when I get more serious in July.

Wow, that's interesting that your mom finds them so supportive. I have actually looked at the flip flop style. They have a very cute one now on shoebuy.com that is fabric on top, and there's a patterned black and white I like. Just not sure if I'm ready to take the Croc plunge.

I'll double check with her but I don't remember her complaining. She is very sensitive in her ankles. She sprained them both very badly...at the same time...after she told ME to watch my step because I was a klutz. "The last thing we need Leslie is for you to fall and miss the boat." Next thing I know she is on the ground. We missed the boat. Can we say, Karma?
I saw the black and white ones, I bought the charcoal ones with the lighter blue but they have fabric up top as well. My mom got really excited when she saw the fabric strap ones at the store last week.

That's where I found the coupon for shoebuy! I have been sneaking over there a bit. I want to concentrate on doing better grocery shopping and getting more bang for our buck. My goal is to get DF's smaller student loan paid off by next tax time as well. It's at about $1,000 so it's very feasible to do. We really want to start trying to have kids and the less debt like that I have to worry about the better. But I also realized this year that we still need to have fun and not deprive ourselves. Granted...two vacations within two months of each other...ehh. We deserve it, we have never been on vacation together so I am really excited...another first!

I knew you and I had a lot in common but, sheesh! Our main get out of debt goals is DH's student loan. Our payments were up around $400 a month. Yup, you heard that right. I've now gotten them down to about $233, and they caught on to me and lowered the payment (trying to get my interest, little boogers) but I still keep paying $233. $400 was ridiculous for us, we weren't able to save any money. Our budget is very tight, especially since we have a little one.
And as far as grocery shopping goes, the best advice I can give you is to cost compare between a couple of stores if possible. I have narrowed my shopping down to two different stores, and after about 6 months - a year, I finally have a concept of what "good" sale prices are. Not scam ones, good ones. EDIT: Actually, scratch that. If you're wondering if something is a good sale price, just ask me! At this point, I'm like an encyclopedia of what is reasonable to pay for groceries. LOL!
We really want to start trying to have kids and the less debt like that I have to worry about the better.
I can't recommend this highly enough. You will be absolutely amazed at how much children really cost. And I don't say that to discourage you, I say that, because I really had no concept. It is totally doable, and affordable, but you have to be financially savvy, and I highly recommend getting rid of whatever you can beforehand. You will feel so much better.
We have debated whether or not...well, actually, I have debated whether or not to have another child. I would love a bigger family, DH would have like one yesterday, but financially we are so not there. It is very frustrating, because this not what I always pictured my life would be. But then, I remember, hey, I have a good life, and a healthy family, what am I complaining about? That's a sad human nature, we always want more. :confused3

But then, I remember, hey, I have a good life, and a healthy family, what am I complaining about? That's a sad human nature, we always want more. :confused3
They are expensive. I can't believe what some of my coworkers pay for childcare. With DF working overnight, we are hoping to work out opposite schedules so we won't have too, at least not full time. I know if we wait until we are financially ready we will be too old to have kids, I just want to be smart about it.
Side note...DF is having his weekly chat with MIL right now and I want to put my earplugs in...just listening to him talk to her is frustrating at this point. :scared:

We have three between us, totaling $300. I made my payments lower, they won't be paid until 2019 but to just get DF's gone would make me happy.
Good for you. I have a small one as well, under $60 a month, and I'll be paying that till the cows come home because the interest rate is awesome! DH's are between 7-7.5%. They used to be close to 9% but with prime dropping, that's sort of worked in our favor. Still :scared1: though.

I just want you to know that I do not at all mean to come off as preachy. I just am so open about my experiences, because I hope that if my "wisdom", if it may be called such, can help someone else out, then things I've gone through will be even more worth it. There's so many things I didn't know, or realize, and I'm just so happy to share.
I am very lucky that I work part time, and my mother watches DS for me. Actually, it's become a whole family affair. My mom does her business out of my nana's house, so when she needs to go to work, my nana comes over and stays with DS till my mom is done. I am so lucky. :goodvibes If you can swing the opposite schedules thing, good for you. A lot of people do it, and I applaud them. It seems hard, but totally worth it.

Usually my DH will go in a different room. If not, I do. :rotfl2:

Not preachy at all, I like talking to someone who tells it like it is! I wish I lived close enough to my mom to have her watch future child. But we live about 70 minutes away and that just doesn't work. We would love for me to work part time but I don't see it happening, who knows though. Some of DF's cousins are having babies so down the road we might be able to do a childcare share thing. Of course MIL has offered to watch future baby on her day off but luckily that is DF's day off too.

It's so funny, I'm usually not this way all the time. Must be the power of the DIS...and hiding behind the computer screen. ;)

I recommend minimal interaction as well. For reasons of mental stability.
Seriously, the week before the wedding, plan some time to do something with your DF. DH and I went to see Lilo and Stitch in the theater on the day it came out. It was the day before our wedding, and the only thing we did alone together that whole week, what with all the running around. We squeezed that movie in right before our church rehearsal and dinner! Trust me, LL, it's one of my favorite memories from that week. That's why I was so tickled when DS took a shine to Lilo and Stitch. We watch several of the movies weekly! :goodvibes Ah, memories.

Awww, that is sweet. I love Lilo & Stitch! What a great memory. I will have to try and squeeze something in. We are getting DF and I's pictures taken before the ceremony with only us and my aunt (the photographer). I am really looking forward to that alone, peaceful moment. :cloud9: MIL already offered to come and we both shouted, "NO!" at the same time. :rotfl2:
The wedding is close! The invitations went out on Tuesday. We had these huge envelopes because we sent each guest an 8x8 scrapbook page to do instead of a traditional signature guest book. They are supposed to send it back with their reply. I am really looking forward to looking at all of the different things everyone does. A lot of the wedding has been do it yourself. My mom made my dress, DF's aunt is making the cake, my aunt is the photographer, we made the invites, the centerpieces....almost everything. I should post pics of the invites...I love them. I feel like I don't talk enough about the happy wedding stuff. And so far...my new engagement ring is holding up!

Here is my invitation, don't mind the big black blocks! :thumbsup2

That is the park we are getting married at. My parents were married there in 1979 and my Dad took that picture last summer.
This is our response card.

I love the scrapbook instead of guest book idea. Much more personal that way. I had a friend who had everyone sign pre-cut squares of fabric with permanant fabric pens at her wedding. You could write or draw whatever you wanted on them for the bride and groom. Later a friend of hers sewed them all into a quilt for her. I thought that was pretty neat too. I love seeing some different things.

Today I was very accomplished. I ran a bunch of errands and completed two Disney related tasks. First up, DF and I went to Michaels were I proceeded to spend an obscene amount of money on Disney related things for my binder. All of those cute little Disney Jolee's Boutique things were 40% off, I couldn't resist! Needless to say...I spent $52....:rolleyes1 Ahh well, it's just an expensive week for me...Wilderness Lodge....$52 at Michael's. I can't wait to work on my binder tomorrow. After purchasing all that fun stuff, I have decided I am going to make it a planning/memory/keep it forever binder. I highly doubt I will use everything I bought so I will just save it for the next one! DF is cute, he said if it makes me happy and busy so be it. I took full advantage of this mentality.
Second, we went to Wal*Mart and got the regular household stuff, nothing Disney related there. Sad. As we were walking back to our car, I realized that we had gone shopping in the wrong direction of Home Depot! I have been trying to get there for the last two weekends and I was going to get there by george! We drove a bit out of the way to Home Depot and were able to successfully accomplish the Mickey Head mission. I had to explain to DF what they were all about, he just couldn't grasp that there would be Mickey Heads at HD, until I told him that they had Disney paint...duuurrr why else would they have MH's?? I got a fair amount of MH's with DF's help. We make it out to the car and he is teasing me because I won't count them in the car until we are out of the parking lot, so he does and says, "You can tell all your Dis friends that your DF helped." He referred to himself as DF! I was so impressed that he was picking up the Dis Lingo! It was cute and adorable and I drove the long way home that he prefers and I hate. We also went to lunch at Cracker Barrel, we had never been before and it was very pleasant. A good day all around! Oh yes, we were able to get 31 LGMH's and when I told him I need an assortment, he grabbed all LGMH's, all well they are an important color.
I am happy to report that we got our MNSSHP Tickets in the mail yesterday. :dance3: :cheer2: :yay: I am very excited. Makes the trip even more real.
I know I have been promising updated itinerary and must do's but I have been working on figuring out the park hours and such for the most accurate itinerary. Hopefully tomorrow...if I am not too busy making my binder pretty!

Hey there! Just caught up with the last few pages. i've been MIA most of the week. I'm so excited for you to be staying at WL! I tried to talk DBF into AKL, but no go. However, we always do value and were booked to stay at POP this year but a couple of weeks after we made our ressies DBF announced on the way home from work that he had switched us to POFQ but I could change to a diff. mod if I wanted! We ended up at CSR, so that is a change for us. Also, your invites are great! So original and beautiful! Where's mine??? :confused3 I feel like I'm forgetting to comment on something, but oh well! I will try to remain faithful to the DIS and read updates each day. Hope you have a nice weekend! :)

Why is it when I try to plan my itinerary I have to make a million and ONE changes!?! I feel so discombobulated! :scared: (Side note...I just spell checked because I thought for sure discombobulated was spelled wrong...either I am really smart or it is so wrong spell check was duped) Needless to say, I am once again doubting some of my ADR's, I am thinking I might cancel one or two and I am freaking out about missing some must see's on my lists. Ugh. I need to go take a chill pill.
I did do a few pages in my binder today that I am very pleased with, they came out really cute. I also found a new camera to buy. I want to upgrade mine. I have a Kodak EasyshareOne. I love it but I want a better zoom and picture taking options. I want the Kodak Easyshare Z812 IS Digital Camera. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g305/lallie23/Z812_FL_250x200.jpgIsn't it purdy!? I talked DF into getting it, my persuasion powers must be working overtime this week, I want to do a little more research but I am thinking a Kodak purchase will be in my near future.
I hope everyone had a fab mother's day ( I am channeling 2ScottishPrincesses) and I am off to "sleep" on my itinerary woes. :upsidedow

Because I am sick of freaking about my schedule, I am going to focus on the positives and start with my must do/gonna try to do lists. I know in my heart of hearts that we probably won't be able to get EVERYTHING done but if I write them down at least I will remember for next time.
In no particular order and jumping all willy nilly around the park....
Magic Kingdom
Pictures at Partners Statue --- I love this statue and always admire but take very few pictures. That will be remedied.
Roy Disney Statue --- I don't remember ever seeing this but I want too.
Cinderella Castle Mosaic --- In "The Complete Walt Disney World 2008" there are some beautiful pictures of this and how it was made, and I want to check it out.
Lady & The Tramp Paw Prints --- I have read that they are in the cement in front of Tony's patio. How adorable!
Cinderella's Golden Carousel --- Believe it or not, this princess have never ridden it, only admired from afar.
Mickey's Philharmagic --- Love it!
Peter Pan's Flight --- Have it done since I was little and really want too again.
It's A Small World --- I mainly want to ride this to torture DF. :rolleyes
Ariel's Grotto --- I would love to meet the elusive Mermaid.
Snow White's Scary Adventure --- I don't know if I have ever been on this, maybe my very first trip but I don't remember.
Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh --- DF thinks this is a kids ride, he can't get over the honey pots.
Mickey's Toontown Fair --- I have very briefly walked through this part but have never stopped to enjoy. I am looking forward to enjoying all the little details.
Enchanted Tiki Room --- I am sucker for these birds and I just don't understand why as I don't really care for birds in real life especially in close proximity. The birds in pet stores freak me out, they have cold stone death eyes.
Pirates of the Caribbean --- WOO HOO! I haven't seen the updates yet and can't wait. This is must must ride and never ever miss.
Hall of Presidents --- Haven't seen in the last two trips and it's a nice way to relax.
Haunted Mansion --- I wasn't able to ride this last trip as it was closed and I am going to make up for it with a ride or two...or three.
Stitch's Great Escape --- I figure I have to try it at least once.
Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor --- Monster's Inc is one of my favorites and I can't wait to see this.
Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin --- Never have done but I must try and kick DF's butt. He is very much looking forward to this ride.
Carousel of Progress --- This is in my top 5 MK attractions. I love it. Period. It just makes me happy. Period.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority --- It's just not Tomorrowland without a little spin on TTA.
Sword in the Stone --- Every Saturday morning as a child (well almost) my brother and I would get up early and pop in Sword in the Stone. Secretly, I think my Dad purposefully left this in the VCR because it was one of the Disney movies that he could stomach. At some point, Dad would wake up and cuddle with the two of us in his recliner and we would watch the rest or until Mom cooked breakfast. I have seen pictures of the Sword in the Stone by the carousel but never knew it was there. I must see it and get corny pictures. :cloud9:
Spectromagic --- Never seen, must see, I will cry if I miss it again.
Wishes --- Never seen, must see, I will cry if I miss it again.
What might be...
I have left out Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain.
1. I have done them all before and don't want to wait in line for ungodly amount of time when there are paw prints to see and dole whips to eat!
2. I am not a huge fan of roller coasters although I do enjoy the two.
3. I hate big scary drops and have a picture to prove it. I am buried into my mother's shoulder with her and my brother whooping it up on the way dooown.
4. I do not enjoy getting wet and then having to walk around the park, not to mention my hair will be messed for all of the upcoming photos.
If the mood strikes, the line is small and I am having a REALLY good hair day, we just might hop on but I will not be sad if they are missed.
Food. Food and More Food.
The must digest for MK are.....
Casey's Hot Dog
Ice cream cookie sandwich from Main Street Bakery ---have you seen pictures of these things??? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Dole Whip
Crystal Palace --- We have an ADR for our first full day...all the glorious morning pictures with no one in them.
Cinderella's Royal Table --- My much anticipated Birthday dinner!
Much to do, will it all happen? Who knows. I sure as heck don't. Will we do our best? Absolutely!
I feel yet another, itinerary change....
