We recently went to Planet Hollywood with the intention of using two DDP credits along with 2 of the $15 vouchers. I had read conflicting posts on the board about whether or not you could use them together and thought as long as you told the server to do it on two separate checks it could be done. Anyway, our server flat told us she would not do two separate checks and therefore we had to use either the DDP for everyone or the vouchers -- but not both. She was actually very abrupt about it and it made us feel like second-class citizens for even inquiring.

We also ran into a problem with the desserts...she said the desserts were intended for two people and we had to share them even though we ended up using 4 TS dining credits. True to fashion, everyone wanted something different so DH and I let the kids pick and then shared with them. It was just very awkward. It seemed like the whole dining experience there was her telling us what we could and couldn't do...I felt like I was eating in the principal's office! :teeth:

Overall, the entrees were only so-so and it was so loud we couldn't even hear what each other was saying (we realized this ahead of time but still wanted to give it a try -- just didn't know how noisy it would truly be). So unless you really love Planet Hollywood, don't fool with the vouchers or DDP TS credits as there's much better options to be had elsewhere.

We had a very similar experience back in Dec 06. The first thing the waiter did was ask if we were on the Dining Plan. When we said yes, he asked to see our card so he could determine what we were entitled to order. He noted that our 11 year old had to order off the adult menu. We told the waiter that our son has food issues (he has Asperger's) and prefers to order off the kid's menu. The waiter was visibly ticked off. He also said the 11 year old was required to order an appetizer. Required? There was nothing on the appetizer menu the kids wanted to eat (the younger one was 8 at the time). I asked if they could make them chips and salsa and he refused (they do have chips and salsa on the menu, just not together). So I said we would not be ordering him an appetizer.

It was obvious that this guy was trying to make us order everything possible so the bill would be higher and, thus, his 18% automatic tip. If we didn't order the appetizer we were entitled to it should be our loss, not his. But he was very rude. I came close to asking for his manager a few times.

Besides the rude waiter, the place was very, very noisy, as you mentioned. Plus the tables were so close together we could hardly move. When they showed us our table, the people in the chairs around us were pushed up next to our chairs. We literally couldn't even pull the chairs out from the table 2 inches, let alone enough to sit down. The hostess just stood there and said nothing and didn't try to help. The people around us finally scooted a little but it was still way too tight. We should have gone running for the door right then.

Finally, my brilliant son summed it all up after we left. He said, "Mommy, when we were in there, it felt like we weren't even in Disney anymore." The Asperger mind tends to be very literal and he certainly spoke the truth that time!

When our hostess showed us to our table right in the middle cramped between everyone we took that as our clue to leave immediatley. Went to Earl of sandwich and had a great relaxing meal.

Can these vouchers be used just to grab something to go, if so, where would you order? And, could you use 2 then, I guess Dh and I could order 2 separate things to go.

I had wondered about using the $15 certificate at the same time. We ended up NOT making an ADR at PH...figured that was a place we could eat at anywhere, not exclusive Disney. Then thought maybe if we needed an extra "snack" one day we could use the $15 there for some fries or something. Glad I did now.

I have got ADR for late Oct there and for some strange reason my better half:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: wants to eat there. I work in the adult bervage industry and I have no problem turning the tables on servers and managers. I can give it just like I have to take it. I personally think it is just an over rated hamburger joint but who am I to judge after all I pay for it all after the DW tells me to :rotfl2:

Can we just use the $15 voucher.. ?? We were thinking of just going in for an appitizer or 2 and drinks to hold us over till dinner. Or do they REQUIRE you to use your dinning plan too?

They have no way of knowing that you are on the dining plan. Everyone staying on Disney Property gets a voucher, not just the DDP people. When they ask if you are on the DDP, just say "no". You can do this for any restaurant that you want to pay OOP for!:thumbsup2

My family has a ressie for PH this Oct and am now worried about the comment of two people sharing one dessert. Oh, and we'll be on the DDP also. Has anyone else experienced this recently? TIA

We ate there on Saturday and it was not only delicious, but the service was great! We got sat pretty quickly (had an ADR), our server was lovely, and we each got an entree, drink, and dessert. I don't know about this whole sharing of desserts issue because everyone around us was on the DDP and each person got their own dessert.

We had wonderful food, and it was fun! I read tons of negative reviews about PH, but we have nothing but nice things to say about the service and food.

We ate there back in early 2000, and absolutely refuse to ever go back. The tables are too close together, it's too loud and the food and service were not good. We much prefer to drive over to Universal and eat at the Hard Rock.

While the Hard Rock still has the atmosphere/music...etc, it's not as loud, and the tables are spaced.....the food is also really good :)

I thought I read on the vouchers that they could be used on merchandise? Duh....I just read them again and we got the 'merchandise voucher' and the 15.00 food voucher for both rooms.

We got our free merchandise (a tiny Planet Hollywood keychain) and 15% off any merchandise we bought from the gift shop.

it clearly states right on the voucher that it can not be combined with the dining plan. i dont think you should blame your server for your lack of reading it:confused3 .

we were a bit confused about the desert options as well. but you are given 2 choices. there are deserts made for one person where you would each get your own, or there are the large desserts that feed 2. you make the choice which you prefer:confused3

we very much enjoyed our food there, but i agree its way too loud!!

Oh I read it alright (learned that skill many, many decades ago...thank you very much), but had seen several reports on the board that you could use it as long as it was separate checks. It was the manner in which the server delivered the news that had me a bit upset.

I'm glad you enjoyed your experience there, but for me, it wasn't anything special and we have chosen not to return.

Not everyone at Disney gets a voucher ... only those with a "package". Room only reservations do not get the voucher.

I was there in March and went in to use my voucher ... crowded, noisy, food very mediocre and served within 3 minutes of placing our order. We were out the door within 30 minutes.

My personal belief is that you will be happier throwing the voucher in your resort trash can than trying to use it.

Do you get the voucher if you booked through a travel agent or just if you booked through disney?

Our party had the voucher and discount card from AAA. We wanted to use the voucher for ourselves and the other couple wanted to use the AAA card. We weren't allowed. The server told us it was one or the other per table not per check. We used the voucher as it saved us more money.
And, as others have said, we will not be going back due to the noise. It was not a good way to relax after a long day at the parks and the food was only OK.

I've eaten at PH twice and will never do it again, even if it's free. Both times we had horrible service, and the food is okay at best. Why would I want to eat at a place with rude ppl? I thought the first time was a fluke, but nope, had the exact same very poor service the second time. I'm guessing this might be part of the reason they give out all those vouchers.

Well I ate there this past Sept 8th for lunch, I had free dinning but used my voucher,I was asked once I sat down did I have a voucher and I said yes she asked to see it and kept it and explained to me that it could be used for anything except alcohol and I said fine I do not drink, So I ordered the turkey club with french fries 11.99 and and a pink smoothie 5.29 and a glass of water I ended up paying OOP about 3 dollars and some change not including the tip it held me over for dinner I had no complaints the restaurant is cool but I would only use it for a hamburger or sandwhich would not waste a TS credit at PH, also it is great place to try some different appys but that is about it, You have to make this place work for you, not you work for them!!

My kids love PH, but definitely not my favorite. We had the same problems in Dec 06 as another posted. Seemed like our waiter was trying to get us to order any and everything he could to up the bill/his tip. We were on the dp but we were on day4 of our stay. At this point, the kids had basically eaten their way thru WDW as had the adults. So, we were not stressed about each person getting an appetizer, entree, dessert. You would have thought this made it much easier for him...but I guess that was not the case.

Won't eat here again unless I have to!

just so you know, thats our job. of course a good server can do it without the customer even knowing. we are trained in how to upsell and even watched to be sure we do it.

Of course! I totally understand that this is part of the job. But, how a server does it and the attitude involved when the customer does not want to do it was the problem for me here. What the server did not know in the end is that dh and I always tipped more than what the dining plan gave the server, as we always tip 20%. So we would normally end up leaving a few more $$ on the table. We know these people have bills to pay too. So, I really felt like if only 3 out of the 5 wanted appetizers so be it. If 1 out of 5 did not want dessert so be it. Its really our credits being wasted.

We had an equally bad experience in May at PH. We were on the ddp. We didn't try to use the voucher, however, my DH steak was still mooing when they brought it to him and he asked for it medium well. He cut into it and blood ran out, not juice mind you, blood. His french fries were floating in it. He sent it back and asked for it to be well done, it still came back red in the center but at least they had stopped the bleeding.......:rotfl2:. We were told the same thing about the dessert so I ended up eating my 9 yo ds's sundae so he could get a milkshake. My dh and dd shared the brownie thing and my oldest ds got the sundae. This was the most expensive ticket, of any, on the ddp and the food wasn't that good. Mediocre at best. I wrote a review of it on my TR. We will never return to PH.

I'm guessing this might be part of the reason they give out all those vouchers.

There must be 100 places to eat at Disney... all with a line to get a table.

So ask yourself why does Planet Hollywood need to give a $15 cash back voucher to get people to come to their restaurant?

Answer- They just don't have the Disney magic vibe. Something feels off about the place (staff, rules, management, quality of food, profit structure) I'm not sure what it is? But it all lead to a uncomfortable meal more often than not.

If it wasn't for people's overpowering strong sense that they are getting a deal with that voucher... the place would sit empty. Maybe its just me, but when I get something in the mail, my first thought is they are trying to push something or sell something. (Although I did use the voucher for the speed boat rental, was planning on doing that anyway) LOL

Someone posted above.... best place for that voucher is in your hotel trash can.

What are the desserts you have to share?

My ds (16) loves going to PH so we go every time we are in Disney. Not my favorite but not terrible for me. We all get to pick one restaurant we each want to go to

I have never had to share a dessert there I have also never used the voucher but opted for the dining plan credit.

The one my DD and DH shared was a brownie sundae. The other two desserts we were allowed was ice cream and a milkshake. Due to these restrictions my husband refuses to use the ddp again as this was our first meal on the plan and it was a total disaster.

for the desserts they give you a book with pictures. there are maybe 4(they include chocolate cake, brownie sundae) that can be shared, they are very large desserts the average person does not need a dessert that large. then there are maybe 3(they include cheesecake, ice cream sundae) that if you wanted your own you could get. then there are 2 choices for kids on the kids menus.
as far as desserts go, from all the disney restaurants weve been to, they have the best selection.

Far as I know Disney doesn't tattoo "Dining Plan" on your forehead, so if you want to use your voucher and not your dining plan, then when the waiter asks, "Are you on the DIning Plan", the answer is "No"...because for THIS meal you're not.

We are getting that voucher in our package too and I thought it might be a fun place to go, but sheesh, sounds like it isn't worth the trip to DTD. I'm pooh sized so I can just imagine trying to squeeze into a chair that is already not enough room for you regular sized folks....and screaming to talk to those at my table isn't my idea of fun either!

If we can use it to go, I might consider it, otherwise, maybe if we're in DTD we'll walk over and give someone in line our voucher....no sense wasting it and who am I too say what others might enjoy, lol. I love spreading pixie dust and if they're already in line it's not my fault, lol.

We had an OK time when we went last time. It was noisy, but I expected that. The food was fine, not the best, not the worst. We had 2 rooms so we used two vouchers (just my husband and I wnet, we tipped but paid bothing OOP but tip.) I was wondering, for this trip we again have the 2 voucherIs, are they still allowing you to use 2 at a time? Also, would we be allowed to just go for dessert (on an off time, of course!) Or is that not allowed. I hate to just not use them, but have so many meals planned I can't see us going for another dinner.

Since I don't have the voucher yet to read it, I asked a CM when booking our ADR how this would work since 4 of us are on the dining plan and 2 of us are not. I was told it would be no problem. 4 TS credits and 2 vouchers would be applied to the bill. So, I called again the next day, asked a dif. CM, got the same response. So, I will be upset if it doesn't work this way!! Sometimes it is just so irritating that everyone (in this case Disney CM's and PH staff) isn't "on the same page" with this stuff.

I'd suggest that you tell your waiter that the 2 non-dining plan people will be on a separate check. That way their vouchers can be applied to their bill only, and there should be no question. Even on the dining plan you will receive a bill, as they add an 18% gratuity that is not covered by the dining plan (plus anything that you ordered that wasn't on the dining plan). Separate checks would alleviate any concerns about whether the vouchers are paying for the dining plan gratituity or towards the 2 non-plan meals.

I don't think you can give it to anyone else. I was thinking the same thing. We weren't going to use ours, but my brother and his girlfriend were thinking about going to PH. I thought I could just give them our voucher to use as well. Then I read the fine print. I think it said the name on the voucher had to be present and had to show their room key.

I am so glad this was brought up!

We just ate there a week ago.

Long story short...our waitress let us use the $15 voucher and 1 meal on the DDP. Dh got the appetizer combo which was $18 or so. And I got the fajitas. Dh didn't love his food, and mine was pretty much tasteless. For dessert I got the key lime pie which I ate one bite of.

That night, around 2:30 in the morning, dh ended up in the bathroom extremely ill.

Not sure we will ever go back there again!
