There looks to be A LOT of us DISers (?) going to MVMCP on December 9 ... :woohoo: ...

... and based on some of the comments I've seen on some other "December" threads, there seems to be at least some interest in having some sort of a DIS Meet that night ... :santa: ...

... and since we're only a little more than 3 months from da party ...

... I decided to take the mouse by the ears (so-to-speak ...) and start this thread to get the ball "unofficially" rolling ... :jumping1:

So - first things first -

I think anyone who is interested in meeting should post their pictures on this thread - so we have at least a minimal chance of recognizing one another as we roam the MK ... :cool2:

And here I go ... !!

This is me, the DW, and DD at Epcot in May 2007 ... the DW and I won't look too different on December 9th (although I'll be wearing a Santa hat festooned with lime-green Mickeys!! :laughing: ...) - but the DD will be 1 1/2 years older and probably covered with the remains of numerous Mickey Ice Cream Bars, cookies, and hot chocolate ... and bouncing her way around the MK on a sugar high ... :Pinkbounc

Next - we have have to decide where and when to meet ....

Since most of us will be having dinner around sort-of 5-ish (I would gather ...) - and the MVMCP doesn't "officially" start until until 7 pm ... I think we should wait until we see a schedule of events (with times ...) before deciding when to meet ... :rolleyes1

But - we can decide where to meet ...

An obvious first choice would be in front of Cinderella's Castle - where we can "kidnap" a few Photopass photogs to take some pictures of our motley crew ...

Any other suggestions ...?

We'll be there, too. Three months out is a great time to start planning for the party!!! AGHHHH!!!! Can't wait! We have lunch ressie's at the castle that day. So, we'll be doing lunch and then planning to get back to MK between 4 and 5. That's our plan for now. Looking forward to coming up with the "master plan" between now and then. I'd post a pic but,...ummm, I have to figure out how to do that.:confused:

We are in! It will be my DH, Me, DD9 and DS6. I will post a picture when I find one and find out how.

We are planning starting the 9th slow and getting to MK around 4pm or so. Probably ride a couple rides and then eat so we are ready for the festivities. I don't want to miss anything.

You need to load them on to an internet "holding" site - a lot of people apparently use Photobucket ...

... and then you can insert them into your DIS posts using the "mountain" button in the tool bar ... where you insert the URL of the photo ...

I am not planning on any ADR's for that night so we don't miss anything. We will probably eat at Cosmic Ray's before it all starts.

The schedule comes out around the time of the 1st mvmcp but you can see previous schedules at allearsnet.com when you go to the theme park section, go down to mvmcp and click.

I've been before in 2006 and its great. You'll love it.

Traveling with family (our 1st GG). Right now we're planning on a late lunch at Tony's, followed by a break at the hotel. Planning to be back in time to attend the 1st (7pm?) 'TTNBC :santa: show in Tomorrowland.

Hope none of you minded being "booed" in my PMs today. Halloween is 1 month away, but our family is getting into the holiday spirit. Thought I'd pass on a little fun to y'all.

Re where to meet: After reading the last post, I think Aloha Isle would be a good spot (I'll use any excuse to get a Dole Whip....). Guess it depends how many people are expected.

We are landing at MCO about 1:30pm, I think. We are staying offsite at a timeshare so we are renting a car. My dream one day is to stay on property. I think we miss out on a lot of stuff staying where we do.:sad2:

We are planning on DTD our first day and eating at TRex if it is open. We will see. They are supposed to open Oct 14th.

This will be our third MVMCP but we got rained out of one.

I dont think you miss alot by staying offsite.. the only major thing you dont get to do is the EMH and if you are driving.. you are already ahead of the game since you dont have to stay inline for buses and stuff... :hug:

I have never done MVMCP... so not sure how it works.. but during MNSSHP a great Meet and Greet spots are by the Carousel of Progress... then rides the Buzz or go to Laugh Floor.... also the entrance of Toon Town... yes with Photopass Peeps... and also by POTC nice roomy area with a ride that can accomodate alot.. and all this spots have big iconic backgrounds great for Group pictures...

Just wondering: has anyone posted on the "official December 2008" thread with info/link re the upcoming meet? I would do it, but not sure how to display links to other threads in posts.

Also, I'm a DIS novice so I have to ask... what's the deal with LGMHs? Looking for any advice (this will be my 1st trip since joining the boards).

I've posted it a few times on the "Official" site - I'll do so again once the MVMCP schedule comes out ...

LGMHs are the Mickey-shaped Disney paint sample chips you can get at Home Depot (they're actually "Alien Green") ...

I'm a DIS novice, too - but my understanding is that they're the "unofficial" symbol of DISers at WDW. So you pick up a few and attach them to clothes, backpacks, a sign in your resort window, etc., so other DISers can "recognize" you and say hello ...

I plan on wearing an appropriately festooned Santa's hat the night of the MVMCP ... :santa: ... much to my DW's chagrin I'm sure ... :rotfl:

Used our Disney rewards $ for the MVMCP tickets, the cost of BBB and dinner at CRT, so the whole night is essentially "free". :thumbsup2

Anyway ... I just went through the posts, and here's a list of all the places suggested so far to meet (in no particular odor):

(1) Aloha Isle (which could then be followed by riding either/or/and ...)

(XXX) etc.

(37) Cosmic Ray's
(H) by - and then ride - the TTA
(ii) by the Carousel of Progress (and then ride the TTA - or Buzz - or humiliate a new friend at Monsters, Inc ...)

(2) Fantasyland Dance Party (do they have this during MVMCP?)

After the presidential and congressional follies next week, I'll compile a "final" list, and then we can "vote" (but I can't guarantee the electronic voting machines we'll use can't be hacked - and there won't be a paper trail ...) :confused3

My kids don't know we are going to the MVMCP. I was planning it as a surprise but now I am thinking about telling them. I keep thinking that if we show up to MK on party day they will just think that the stuff happens all the time and not just during special parties. They won't appreciate the extra planning.

I've already voted for 8:45. I'm just not sure about the location (I'm with you, huff1269 -- I also want to see Wishes). I was leaning toward Aloha Isle but ... I guess I'll vote Cosmic Rays. I'd like to see what the dance party is all about. (and, to be honest, I don't think I can wait to buy a Dole Whip until 8:45pm).

I vote for 8:45 at Ariels grotto. The reason for this is that Wishes will be at 9:30, so after the meet, we could all have time to get our Wishes spot since we'll be close to the castle which I think is where most watch it from.

This is six months old. I am not pregnant, I just don't always choose flattering shirts.

DH will probably be wearing the same hat (or a similar one) if the sun is out. He has never been to Florida, and is a little worried as a redhead.

DD4 looks a bit like Shirley Temple or the Pepsi girl. I think I may go short and red before the trip. We'll see.

Great. I have cancelled my trip due to my pregnancy but will STILL be attending MK on Dec. 9th for the mvmcp. We'll be going down just for this as I can't get a refund for my tixx and I really want to go even just for one day. (Thank goodness I only live 2 hours away). Plus, we'll be in disneyquest during the day before the party.

Went from a high of about 65 to a high of 80 ...

Rain now forecast for Wednesday ... so ...

Hi, just found this thread from a link! We are attending MVMCP on Dec 9th, as well. It is myself, DH, and DD8. Purchased our tickets a long time ago:laughing:

We will definitely try to make it to Ariel's Grotto at 8:45pm , as long as things go according to plan!!:)

Here is a picture of us from last year, sorry it is large, haven't figured out how to make it small, yet.

Well - we tried ...:confused3

We made it to Ariel's Grotto around 8:55 and hung out for about 10 minutes - but didn't recognize anyone ... :sad2: so we moved on ...

The MK was just too crowded - my guess is most of you got stuck after the parade??

We managed to take in all the shows except Christmas with Belle, and rode iasm (with the DD asleep on my shoulder) and Pooh - and the DW did Space Mtn while the DD and I rode the TTA ...

Nice to do the MVMCP - but I don't think I'd do it again (at least not for a while ...)

The Castle was incredible all lit up!! :cheer2:

I was there with you guys in spirit, even if I couldn't get over to you. It was an eventful day: I planned a Gifts of a Lifetime event for my parents. Went well, except at the end. We were posing right in front of the castle for a picture, when my DS ran away from me and up the steps onto the platform in front of the castle. I ran after him and fell on the top step, injuring my L knee and R ring finger. I ended up needing a wheelchair, so my DH tortured me by making me pose for photopass in front of the castle later.

By the time I got back to the MK, we got stuck near Main St during the parade & couldn't get back to Ariel's in time to find anyone.

I honestly don't think the MVMCP was worth the extra $$. Way too crowded for me, even if I wasn't injured. Hope anyone who attended has a fun time though. Would love to see pictures if anyone has any.

We were there for about 20 minutes but it was so crowded and dd wanted to ride dumbo, I was in line there. The step sisters and evil step mother were very funny, though!

We were there, too, for about 10 min while we drank our hot cocoa. Had to run to find a spot for Wishes which ended up not be a great viewing spot. I liked the party atmosphere but was way too crowded. Don't think I would pay the extra $$ again. Saw that our party was sold out but Friday's wasn't when we were there in the morning. Maybe we picked the wrong night.:confused3

We attended the MVMCP on the 9th also and our night was definitely not what we had hoped for. Was very disappointed.
We got there only to try and wade through the crowd on Main street that had lined up to watch the parade this was mostly people that had not let the park yet and were not paying for the MVMCP. By the time we got though to try and get to the shows they were already full. We would try and get to the next one only to hear the same thing.
We didn't go to ride the rides we went to do the 5 listed Christmas Events and didn't get to do any of them except see alittle of the second parade through peoples arm pits(I'm short and to heavy for DH to put on his shoulders):confused3
We got stuck on the bridgeway for almost an hour with non moving traffic.
Got my foot ran over by a motorized scooter and my heel rammed by a stroller. I actually had bruises from all the elbows I was poked with.I also have a medical device unit in my right hip similar to that of a pace maker and it was constantly being hit.
It looked like a convention for wheelchair/stroller/scooter users.Please don't hate on me for that statement I am a nurse and work with the elderly and handicapped but that was just too much.
We did get to try the hot chocolate and a cookie.Not worth the 50 + $$ for it.
We too had bought these tickets a long time ahead or we would have known what to maybe expect and would have changes our date.
I had really looked forward to this for 5 years (we were in Disney at Christmas time 5 years ago when I had just had cancer surgery and didn't know what the future held DH made me the commitment to return on my 5 year mark). At that time I wasn't up to seeing alot of the Christmas festivities.

I will say that the rest of our trip was wonderful. And am looking forward to spending many more Holidays at Disney...just not doing MVMCP
