Remember, traveling with Girl Scouts , we tend to be real cheapskates. So if we don't want to shell out bucks to taxi anywhere, what can we do near the dock? Is a beach a possiblity? Shopping is a given, right? Thanks!:earsgirl:

I remember reading a post (or was it a trip report) from another girl scout leader who has already cruised. She made arrangements with a local troop in Nassau to meet them at the ship and give them the whole "inside" tour of Nassau. I think the cruising girl scouts just paid for the cab fare and the leader said it was very cheap and wonderful. She also said that most of the Nassau girl scouts knew how to do the hairbraiding we're all paying big bucks for.

Anyway, maybe this is an idea for you.

Dave has a map you could check out of all the shops near port. I hope this helps. I hope you have a great time with your troop. It sounds like it would be a blast. When are you sailing?
371 days and counting everyone of them:crazy:

I would recommend...

...the Pirates of Nassau Museum (www.pirates-of-nassau.com)...

...and the Pompey Museum of Slavery and Emancipation (www.bahamasvg.com/pompey.html).

Both museums are within walking distance of the ship. The Pirate museum would have more entertainment value than the Slavery Museum, but the Slavery Museum would still be a good education experience... plus it costs only $1! (The Pirate Museum is more costly, although group rates are available.)
