If the pool is green or my mattress is sagging, I *will* be disappointed, and this is my first cruise ever. :confused3

I too would not like the sagging mattress and would definitely say something or look to me moved. I'm sure they will have the pool under control especially by the time we sail.

That is Me, Jason, Hadley, Dave, Marika & Rio all as characters from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the party. (Also we just happened to bump into Kimberly in Buzz Lightear's exit, too!!)
Awesome pic!! Gald you had fun.

Arin,

I think we are doing one of the submarine tours........probably Nautilus. The only bad thing is it is 9:15AM but oh well.

Crissi
We were thinking of doing that, but it's so expensive.

Boarding Passes ~ go on lline to your airlines web site...log in and follow the directions. You can do this 24 hrs. prior to your flight.

I do ours tonight at 6pm......:yay: :yay:
Thanks, I just did it :thumbsup2
If anyone is looking for something to do in Grand Cayman I just booked Stringray City thru www.Mobydicktours.com. They just called me and said the weather looks perfect.

We booked the one at Castaway Cay. I wondering if we should change it? Anybody ever done either one of these?

Hi everyone,
Just giving a quick update. We left NC at 5:27am and got here at 4:59PM. Long day in the car. DS was absolutely wonderful for such a long trip. He only got cranky once and none of us argued LOL Best family traveling in history.

we had a wonderful breakfast at McD and that kept us full for most of the day. We stopped off for a filling lunch at Chick-fil-a and tonight we will be dining with relatives in their home where we are staying until Sat.

Glad the trip went well. Oh and I just tried out Chick fil a today.. yum!! I went for their breakfast sandwiches or burrito and they had closed.. 2 min. earlier. They were only surving lunch. I tried the chicken strips.. pretty good.

Yeah, I'm really not that concerned. With as much money as people (my mom ;)) paid for this trip, I have a feeling that they will do whatever is necessary to make our trip wonderful. Disney isn't Disney for no reason. :)

Hmmm.....well, I have to agree with one of the posters. The green pool is gross, and I would have been sorely disappointed if I had gotten there early only to find I couldn't swim! But as far as the staterooms go, I don't care about a few dings on the furniture or some white specks on the verandah, honestly. The new TV's look pretty nice though!

I'm sure everything will be ironed out by Saturday. :thumbsup2
Sometimes it's not so good to be the VERY first after drydock, eh? ;)

Well... add us to the list of hurt /sick people. I got a call at lunch time that Braden (6 years) was hurt at school. The lady in the office said I needed to take him to urgent care. A little boy pushed him off the slide and he fell and hit his head. He ended up getting 2 staples in the back of his head.. :guilty:

Soooo, Denise.. or any other RN's.. anybody feel like taking staples out in a week?? :rotfl:

Nasty little boy.....what a way to start the school year.

Just printed out our boarding passes for tomorrow......I can't believe it's here already. I couldn't sleep last night...was still awake at 2am. Hopefully, I'll sleep tonight after being busy today. Cleaned the house, done laundry, made some sweets and meals for hubby, paid the bills, checked my lists three times and talked to my sisters, aunts and son for last good byes. I would just like to take a shower and head for the airport right now......

Does anyone else feel strange how everyday someone else leaves and we are left behind???? Something like a trickle effect.....

I am NOT watching the weather channel until I get back home. Can't stand worrying about storms.

OH, one last question. Do we need to sign the back of our MNSSHP cards?

Rambling I know.........:goodvibes

Yes it really is strange how there are fewer and fewer people stuck here at home while everyone else is either already enjoying their vacation or soon on their way!

Well, one more day of work for me!! I am hosting my women's group tomorrow night (I know, what was I thinking back in June when I volunteered????). I'm doing some last minute wash tonight and most everything is packed except for some last minute stuff.

Now just keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate and not delay our take-off. I have a party to go to!!!!!!

Homemade spaghetti and salad yumm. After a swim in their private pool tonight we will play some type of board games and then off to a relaxing evening in our guest quarters.

Seriously thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. We ran into no trouble traveling. I'll be praying for safety for all and try to check in and catch up a little on the boards.

I'm so glad you guys made it ok with the little guy doing so well. We have today and then tomorrow we are in the hotel for the night (as if I'll sleep right?) and then off to the airport.

If the pool is green or my mattress is sagging, I *will* be disappointed, and this is my first cruise ever. :confused3

hmmm surely since this is disney they will be able to turn some of this over either during the trip or this weekend betweeen sailings? Hopefully?

I think I read somewhere that they close out all advance ressies 2 or 3 days before sailing! That means we are really close. You should be able to sign up onboard.

Hey everyone, I've enjoyed lurking over the past month(s). You seem like a fun group.

I'm Jen's (nenner1) husband Ron. Our internet at home is down and will most likely be out until after the cruise. I personally can access the internet @ work but she can't.

She wanted me to update everyone. She's still feeling ok after the accident, but the car is totaled...

She also wanted to have me let everyone know that our room number is changing. No we weren't upgraded. We were actually kind of downgraded because now our room is slightly more forward. We had our TA (Tracy from DU) contact DCL. They said our previous room, 6022, is not up to standards (a maintenance issue). They've moved us to 6018, however we've got Tracy trying to work out something to get something better since we are not happy about moving w/o being being offered an upgrade or even being told. Nope, they didn't even contact us or DU, they just did it. Hopefully it will all work out.

BTW, Tracy said that she was told by DCL that several staterooms have this issue and won't be operational for our cruise. So everyone check your stateroom #'s to see if you haven't been moved.

Lets all hope they work out all the drydock kinks...

or we can just drink a lot so we won't be too disturbed by them. FATCAT that was for you.

Enjoy your cruise and be safe everyone... WE WILL!!!!

Did you mention that pool stuff to Barb? She didn't mention it to me in her email, so I was wondering if she was "protecting" me, or you were "protecting" her. I didn't mention it in my return email, either, figuring she had enough going on w/the packing, ruined shirt, etc. :laundy: Not that I think she would care, anyway . . . Well... add us to the list of hurt /sick people. I got a call at lunch time that Braden (6 years) was hurt at school. The lady in the office said I needed to take him to urgent care. A little boy pushed him off the slide and he fell and hit his head. He ended up getting 2 staples in the back of his head.. :guilty:

Ouch! Hope he is feeling ok today.

[QUOTE=MagicMe;27788041]So I'm wondering if I have room in my luggage for a face mask and a good luck talisman!!!!:rolleyes1

We could have used that facemask a couple of days ago. Our 6yo DD fell from some monkeybars on the playground and landed on her face. She came up with her face covered in mulch and blood. Her face was scraped some from her nose to her chin and she has a big scrape on her lip. Swelling has gone down so at least it is normal sized again.

We booked the nautilus right thru the disney site, I think it was less than $50 per adult, we are doing the 9:15-10;45, a little earlier than we wanted but then we can do some shopping and get back on the ship for lunch, check it out on disneycruise.com

We did the Nautilus semi-sub last fall. we really enjoyed it. We were able to see out the windows very well. We were with adults and kids 2, 5, 13 and 16 and all liked it. Our 6 yo wants to go again but we want to try something different.

Actually I do not use the pools on board that much. If this means free drink hours woo hoo!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

That is fine for you, but I think your children would be interested.

That stinks about the car, but glad to hear she is feeling ok.

Ron
Thanks for updating us, I will post the room change on the deck 6 board...Glad Jen is feeling better

Looks like those message boards will be coming in handy. I wouldn't mind if our location were changed. :wizard:

Oh NO:scared1:

The packing stress continues at my house:eek:

Dog just chewed Wife's favorite blouse:mad:

Time to hit the PATRON:yay:

Eek :scared1: We are about 95% packed finally. Just the last minute stuff now.:woohoo:

According to the last post from WDWKevin - all pools are back as normal except for an issue with the Mickey pool (which I believe that pool is out of commission quite often with "accidents").

This is what was just posted by WDWKevin

GOOD NEWS...

Goofy and Quiet Cove Pools back to normal.

Mickey Pool is open but still needs help.

The crew is working VERY hard trying to get everything back to 'ship shape' and ready for guests. If they keep it up, they should be more than ready for Saturday's 7-day cruise. Sad for us though. lol

:woohoo:  :cool1: :cheer2: Doing the happy dance.

If I remember correctly from our other two cruises, they started calling the first two groups to board at around 11:30. Although I think Disney states it is 12:00. Our last cruise was last Sept. so things may be different now.

I'm finishing up last minute work stuff so I can take tomorrow off and go through the bags again to make sure everything is packed and ready to go. DH finally decided to put stuff in his suitcase last night so at least we are making progress.....except that the muchkin has now decided that he doesn't want to fly. Until 2 days ago he couldn't wait to be on the airplane and didn't want to be on the ship...now its the other way around. I just keep thinking "everything will be ok...he'll do fine...he's flown before....but he was only 18months then....maybe he won't like it this time......". yep..if you see two adults near tears and a ticked off 4 year old that is probably us and the flight was not a good one.

Hi guys, I'm back.:wave2:

No chance of catching up at this point, hope I haven't missed anything.

As Ron said we have been moved to 6018. Hopefully that will change again, and they move us on up to the East side to a deee-luxe apartment in the sky...:rolleyes1 If not, I guess it's better than being in the "unacceptable" room.:confused3

Seems like there are only a few of us stragglers left!;)
I have about 5 suitcases packed, and about 1/5 of the magnets printed...and I'm probably only that far along thanks to our router blowing earlier this week.
And the good news is I'm officially done with work for 11 or 12 days!

Everyone have safe travels....see ya in A DAY AND A HALF!!!

Benadryl. Our pedi even TOLD us to make sure to take some JIC. It'd sure be easier if they just made childrens' chewable Xanax.

Seriously though, have you set up an activities bag for him? I always get DD new coloring/work books, and stickers and other NEW stuff (cheap!) and pack it in her airplane back pack. That way she is looking forward to the surprise of what is in her back pack and not thinking about the plane...

I just checked and out cabin has not moved yet. Of course I was hoping for a upgrade but no luck. Oh well everything else will work out its vacation

Yep I have a couple of things that are brand new and a couple of things he hasn't played with in a while and I"m letting him chose a couple of things as well. We are going to give him some benadryl especially after the recent ear infection (or heck might just go straight to the tylenol with codeine....since I don't want his ear to hurt at all).

Ok guys...anyone with a deck 3 and 4 of the treasure map? was just going to print mine and realized I have all decks but those. Anyway. I have one very last thing to do here at the office then I"m out of here to finish my packing.

Just a quick hello from the Contemporary.

No disasters yet, and we've been here over 24 hours. Alex is doing well, no fever since Tuesday AM, and I think he was already starting to kick his very rare and extremely resistant to antibiotics infection before he started taking the antibiotics.

We're leaving from here around 9:00 AM on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing everyone then.

Still not able to post pictures or links. Our little friend in the Carribean is now going by the name of Kyle. From the projected path I don't think he will cause us problems on our cruise. Of course I am not even close to being a meteorologist. I got the info from the national hurricane center if anyone wants to post the pics.

Lil ol' me! Welp we made it .... with a few bumps. no bruises, but in one piece.

Short version as Im watching Greys ...

430am came WAY TO FAST, we were checked in and on the flight by 720am we had the middle and aisle seats... the window peeps didnt show up... WHICH means we had the whole row to our selves. WOOHOO:banana: 5hour flight we got some homework done, reading and sleeping done!

Our connection is where things started to go downhill... slowly. We THOUGHT we were on another flight so we lug all our carry on crap off it, hit the restrooms and the boys to go get some Burger King. Our flight started boarding early and Im calling E like mad to get back.. I EVEN told him to just leave the food.. ME leave food? LOL. So they run back and we jump back on the flight.

An hr later we are in Orlando! WOOHOO:banana: :yay: Go to baggage claim (which by the way this airport is very nice!) and collect our 3 of 4 bags... YUP they lost our other bag (thankfully it wasnt the f/e & s/m bag LOL) Go and file my claim and am told there is another flight coming in 15mins from Atl. So we wait for it... just in case its on there,., AND WOOHOO what do we see our 4th bag. We all cheer.. please were giving us crazy looks :woohoo:

We then take the Thrifty shuttle and pick up our car. E upgrads us to a Magnum (I think he just wanted to drive it LOL) and head on down to the Cocoa Beach area. We check into the lovely Country Inn & Suites and E again splurges and upgrades to a suite.... I thihk he has ulterior motivies :rolleyes1 lol.

Got some McD's and taco Smell. Headed back to the INN and catching up on my Greys. (so much for the short verson huh)

Tmrw we hit the Kennedy Space center, maybe a walk oh the beach and some mini golf if time. Oh and the boys want to hit the pool... told them that one might get nixed since we will be hitting the pool all week come Saturday.

Check in with yall Tmrw! Oh and we have no plans for Grand K... looking to do one of the sub things for the boys.. any ideas?

I just noticed AirTran Policy

Second Bag Fee, as determined by reservation booking date:
Booked on August 14, 2008, or later
Booked April 22 – August 13, 2008
Booked on April 21, 2008, or earlier$25
$10 online, $20 at airport
Free

Free 2nd bag for ME!!! :cool1:

I can't believe it's here - checked in and got my boarding passes earlier today and found out that I booked my tickets early enough to qualify for the second bag as FREE!!!! I know it's only $10 savings but there's my first DOTD!!!

Airtran? if so it said online that the 2nd bag was free if you flew before May... or at least thats how i read it to be????

**Boys still arent asleep... 1130pm fl time (so only830pm cali time) kind of wasting this 2room suite that E upgraded :rolleyes1

Oh fercriminysake, I can't believe the @#$%& Trojans just got their butts kicked by Oregon State. OREGON STATE!!! How can you take a team seriously when their name is the BEAVERS???

Well, nothing like starting one's vaction with one's husband in an unspeakably foul mood. :sad2:

We're leaving in nine hours and I still have one load of laundry in, then I need to pack those items, go to the market, pack up the travel food, and oh yeah - applique two tote bags and sew two pairs of bloomers. It's gonna be a long night.

But you'd better believe that when we leave at dark-thirty tomorrow morning I will have a BIG smile on my face... sleep or no sleep, USC loss or no USC loss, I'm going to see MICKEY and sail on his BIG BOAT!

I checked my flight and as of now it's still on schedule. 3-1/2 hours out so maybe that's a good sign???? I had checked around 7:30 this morning and found that the 11:30 flight was canceled so I'm taking that fact that I'm within a four hour window as a good sign! :rolleyes1

Yeah I recall Florida you cannot buy liquor in the grocery store.
I used to live in CT when no liquor sales after 8pm and not at all on Sunday.

I believe in the county where I live now it is 24/7
Gas stations and grocery stores sell both liquor and beer.

As well at COSTCO!!!
Our costco does Patron silver for $37.99 which is not too bad

Yeppers..actually I don't think they were Lee. They were Revlon. They had thse little double sided sticky tabs> They were actually pretty strong though. ANd they looked fairly real, so I thought why the heck not. They lasted the first whole day fine, but on the 2nd morning I was up on 10...lost actually, backtracking trying to find Beach Blanket, I was trying to get back down to 9, I was so discombobulated (and I hadn't even had a drink). Anyway I tripped, stubbed my big toe and as I did , I pulled a "I wanted to stop here anyway" thing, and looked over the rail. The Captain and officers were on the little side platform as we were docking in Nassau. As I watched them I wa scratching my hurt toe on my other calf, and *pop* off came the nail, and floated right down onto the platform where they were all standing. I didn't see where it landed, but I was horrified they would find it and look up and see me, the chick with the fake toenails. So I got outta there quick, after breakfast I had to peel all the rest of those suckers off and had to spend the rest of the cruise with my gnarly toes, unpainted nails with this sticky residue all over them (the sand at CC, OMG). Needless to say, LAST cruise I just painted the doggone things.;)
How many hours do we have left? I already had to sit on one suitcase. It closed. I have another stuffed three feet high though. That one will be a challenge!

All and All not a bad travel day. Everything on time. Only snafu was I forgot to grab booster seat out of our car. Had to "rent" one. They sort of just said take what you need so we shall see.

At the Holiday Inn (free suite upgrade) and turned on DIS channel 9-27 but no one out there....

Went to ABC and got liquor, water, beer. My carryon ways a ton. Not a fan of this you have to bring it carry on policy. Oh well. At least we are allowed to carry it on.

They wanted $43 for a 750ml of Patron. Crazy!!!
$35 not tax in cozumel. Last time I got a free duffel bag too.

See ya all at the Port. I should be prett recognizable. I am wearing my Maxim outfit.

Hey DIS Double Dippers----

Well it's Friday night and we're all aboard the ship right now enjoying our final night aboard the Magic....a bittersweet moment for us all, I'm sure.

I just wanted to make a post that everyone would get when they signed onto the boards upon getting home to say:

WELCOME HOME!! And thank you to everyone who made this cruise yet another magical amazing wonderful experience for Jason and I. All the fantastic fish extender gifts...the secret mickey treasures...the smiles and "hello"'s in the halls and at the pool....the group picture....it was all so amazing and we're glad we got to meet everyone!

Finally home after a 're-routed' trip to Epcot. I too wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the wonderful FE gifts...my little guy was so excited to wake every morning to see if our 'Mickey Friends' left any 'mail' in our FE.

Wonderful cruise, again, my only complaint was those pesky parents that let their tots in the Mickey pool with swim diapers :sad2: ...not sure they realized their 'harmless' act of selfishness led to MANY hours of that pool having to be drained, filled, drained and filled only to be (yes, you guessed it) drained and filled again....not to mention all the little sad faces (and angry parents) that were sitting on the sidelines waiting for the all clear. After the fourth time, I found myself playing 'lifeguard' on the lookout for those pesky offenders.......:rolleyes1

Hope everyone had a safe trip home!

BTW - Anyone else book while onboard? :confused3

Overall a good cruise. Would have liked more sun. Visible improvements to the ship were few and far between. No new furniture around adult pool, new tvs in the rooms, food was better this year than last, new carpeting. Will post more later. We rebooked for next August.

Hey everyone! Wanted to pop on and thank everyone for such a great trip!!! My last cruises have always been with family and we traveled in packs of at least 15 so this cruise was going to be a little different with just 4 of us. But both my Mom and I felt like we were still traveling with lots of extended family. Everyone was so friendly and chatty even on board. We had a fabulous time! Thanks to everyone that participated in the fish extenders. We loved everything! Even though I was an adult, I still loved coming back to the room and finding little gifts.

Hope everyone had a safe trip home and all have arrived to their appropriate destinations!

We got home so early! We made it to MCO by 10am - were able to change our 6pm flight to an 11:05am flight and were on Long Island by 1:10pm.

We had such a great time. It was so great having some one on one time with our daughter. She loved (and we loved) the F/E gifts - that was just so much fun! We loved walking the ship twice handing out ours and had a blast getting gifts for our Secret Mickey family.

I think the best part of walking the ship was seeing how creative all of you were with your door decor - we got so many great ideas for our next cruise!!

WE LOVED the gift our Secret Mickey gave us - it was so perfect because I snorkeled for the absolute first time and loved it!! Our gift was a statue of Mickey in his snorkel gear.

We were going to book onboard - but everytime we went to the desk, there was a line of people and our rservation is so complicated because we're bringing everyone along next time - We're either doing the 8/22/09 or 8/29/09 cruise.

Anyway - the cruise was fabulous - it was great meeting so many of you. I really, really, really wish they'd do more two-stoppers at Castaway - that was just FABULOUS!!

All the future Double Dippers - You're in for such a treat - even with the rainy weather - it was beautiful and fun and the castmembers were great (except for Miss Grumpy at the soft serve ice cream place by the BBQ - she was the grumpiest castmember we've ever seen ever).

Our server, Hemant, was incredible!!! Gosh - I just want to go back. Right now.

Just got home a few minutes ago. Landed at Newark NJ and took the AirTrain to the NJ Transit Station and the train to South Amboy NJ. Not a bad experience. DH picked me up at 8PM at the train station.
I was travelling with Pfishgirl and family, but they are not returning until Sunday night... We had a blast.
I also booked another cruise while on board.
I'm taking DH on the land/sea next September.

I got home about 2 hours ago and just made a run to the grocery store. I'm off to bed soon. For those of you who didn't run into me mid to late week, I got quite sick. When we got to Cozumel, we found a pharmacy to buy Zithromax (since you don't need a prescription there). I cannot stop coughing now even with meds.

Anywhooooooo.....Epperbiker! Your mom likely has my mom's luggage! Isn't that a coincidence! The porter who helped us put one of your DM's luggage with ours. As I was waiting for my DM to bring back a rental car, I was taking the Tinkerbell luggage tags off, and found we had a piece of your DM's luggage that has the 98% exact same tapestry fabric as my DM's. I called and left vmails to the number on her luggage tag, which I'm quite certain was her home phone number as a answering machine picked it up. I took your DM's luggage back into the port.

Well, I'm off to bed. I literally have 42 pages to catch up on from the past 2 weeks!

Hope you all had a wonderful trip, and other than saying I was so thrilled to meet most of you, I'll comment more later!

Hi friends! We made it home this evening too...after a day at EPCOT where we were all excited to be there but seriously dragging!

Thank you EVERYONE for the FE gifts. Reese was SO delighted to come back to fun things in our FE.

And thanks SO much for stopping by to put a star on our US map! We had 49 people put stars on our map, and Reese was excited to come back and find out what was added new each time.

I'm about to fall over tired...Reese's fish died while we were gone, so that was a bummer to come home to.

Did anyone sign up for the Sept. 19th, 2009 sailing? We'll be there! :)

Welcome home everyone!

It was such a pleasure cruising with you all!
How wonderful to be on a boat full of friends! Some old, some new, some borrowed and some blue!;)

I am so sorry to those of you I never got to meet. There were quite a few. Isn't it strange how you keep encountering the same familiar faces at every turn, yet never see others.:confused3
Nonetheless, this could not have been a better group to cruise with. I miss you all so much already!

I have to second the gushing FE compliments! These are the best FE gifts I have *ever* seen (and I have seen quite a few posted). And the sheer volume was amazing! Believe me when I say we appreciated each and every little token we received and then some. And I have to say some of the personalized/individualized FE gifts were so generous and thoughtful. AND on a personal note, thank you all for hanging in there and finding us in our new home. We had many issues with our stateroom and surrounding area that I will go into more detail later (or just check my thread on the main board) and I do sincerely appreciate you hunting us down (though you didn't have to go far!)

I also have to say my tremendously fantastic Secret Mickey gift brought me to tears. I won't reveal your identity to others (unless you want me to) but I will reveal your amazing gifts in my trip report. You are truly angels.

We had so much fun looking at all the doors. Such lovely creativity!

Our adventures did not stop at the terminal door, as a couple of you know we had a flat tire out in the parking lot.:lmao: I can laugh about it now but you would not believe how diffcult it was to get to our spare. We had to call AAA in the end, it was not an easy task getting them into the lot past security!:rolleyes1

Anyway hope everyone had safe travels and hope to hear a lot more from everyone soon! I will start my TR by the end of the week, as soon as I unpack my 19...yes, nineteen bags!

I will see some of you again next year on the 9/26/09 Eastern!:dance3:

Thanks again to all of you for making our cruise so special.

Hey Kimberly, so sorry you were'nt feel well. With our different dining times, we barely saw you. Yes, I was the idiot who took your mom's luggage. We had just gotten home when we found out, so after a few phone calls, I was back out the door to MCO. After the trip home plus the 180 mile round-trip to exchange bags, I am completly worn out. I had the bag to the airport at about 3:45 so I assume they got it to your Mom in time for your flight? Feel better soon!

We had a great cruise but I was somewhat disappointed in the presentation of some of the food in the dining rooms. I had some of the same dishes from last year and everything was much better looking last year.

Nativeway was great in Grand Cayman and so was Chankanaab. Both days at CC were super.

I've got weird blisters on my skin that seems to be an allergic reaction to the soap or shampoo. It was bad enough that I was searching the bed for bedbugs but thankfully no evidence of that!!!!

We had Maria from Argentina who just started on the Magic (from the Wonder) as our assistant server and Rexson from India as our server - Both were excellent.

We never made it to a single show, but we did see Wall-E and Beverly Hills Chihuahua, and enjoyed both.

My DM70 had quite a bit of difficulty physically but still had a very good time.

Hope all had a memorable vacation and safe travels home!!

Sorry I didn't get to meet many of you - such is travel with a 4 year old child and somewhat frail older parent.

I have to agree on the FE gifts. Elliott LOVED checking our 'pockets' everytime he walked by. We to had WONDERFUL Secret Mickey's (thanks for the additional cars btw, they helped make the 6 hours at the airport go by a bit faster).

We booked again as well, but with dummy dates. We really want to go Thanksgiving 2010 but DH looked up the price for next Thanksgiving and almost had heart failure.

Ummm no temp changes for us....we came back to the same temp we left in FL. Anyone want to come stay with us :lmao: ?

LOVED IT! Elliott had to take a bath with that little guy. You know we passed you guys and said hello several times but we didn't get to stop and talk. We also passted Fatcat and I would make comments to him and receive a blank stare. Fatcat I'm sure you are thinking "dang there was a crazy lady talking to me the whole trip".

We didn't make it to any shows either. Elliott was either asleep or so wound up I wouldn't have subjected the rest of the auditorium to his antics.

We loved every minute of the trip, from the welcome aboard to the giant hands waving goodbye. Elliott surprised us and was very happy to swim in the ocean. (one of the reasons we didn't book excursions was because we were not sure how he would react to the water). And I have to say a special thank you to 2goofy2luv. Dinner was great because of you guys!

The only down side is that I was hit with a migraine at the airport yesterday (thank goodness for immatrix) that has now turned into a sinus infection. maybe I should have hit a Mexican pharmacy as well???????

Yes, I hope someone posts it. I looked around in shutters and did not see it. Did someone take it with their own camera?

We intended to make it, time just got away with us, and when I looked at the beeper it said 10:56.:confused3 I thought about trying to run down and make it even then, but both kids were in different clubs, etc. It would have taken too long to round everyone up.

We were concerned about our cats, too but they are just fine. They didn't even eat half the food we left out. But the litter maid....whoa....that was bad!!:crazy2:

Sorry to hear about your fish too! Reese's was a Beta & we had him for just over 3 years (who knows how old it was when we bought it!)....so "Brian Urlacher" was looking not-so-hot before we left and Reese got to say goodbye before the cruise. I warned our petsitter that he might not make it & not to worry! Can you imagine...being a pet sitter, & you're responsible for caring for a little boy's fish when it dies! Reese flushed him last night after saying a prayer that "Thank you god for Brian Urlacher". Then he turned around and said "Now can I get a new fish?" Uh....glad it wasn't TOO painful to lose your first fish...sheesh:lmao:

I didn't know you guys had so many pets! I was thinking yesterday that I hoped your bird fared well. We have a 100gal saltwater tank that I'm always nervous to come home to. I'm afraid the whole thing will crash & die while we're gone...but I guess that's partly what we pay a petsitter for as well! :)

There was a 2nd meet? Oops....missed THAT!

Reese is now sick as a dog. Go figure. He got his first loose tooth on Thursday, so all night Thursday & all day Friday he had his finger in his mouth wiggling his tooth. He cried as we landed in DFW last night because his ear was killing him...hysterical crying. He NEVER does that! Poor baby. Of course he got sick if he's in the kids' club for hours and has his finger in his mouth constantly! So we're lying low today...making it through the mountains of laundry...blech.

Heck ya! You know we were probably passing each other all the time and never knew it!;) Although in our case, we were pretty conspicuous with our stroller setup. Every time I saw a pregnant woman I wondered if that was you (I did see a few showing!)

As it sits right now, we do plan on trying to make that cruise next year...that is our intention anyway, but it all depends on how much extra $$ we end up with. We still have to buy another car, and my sister got engaged last week and I am her matron of honor so now there are more expenses we will have with her wedding, not to even mention my cousin's wedding shindig on the RCCL Oasis of the Seas in Jan/2010. So we may or may not keep it, or use it as a dummy for 2010. We'll see what the announcments on those itineraries
are next week!:thumbsup2

We're home safe, sound, and sick! Dexter and I are both sick; Celeste is fighting it off, and DH is sitting around feeling fine and looking smug. Jerk. ;)

We had a FANTASTIC time - it far exceeded my (high) expectations, even though so much did not go as planned. I never saw any shows, live entertainment, or movies... didn't go on any excursions... had a frightening and infuriating episode with the kids' club (which I will go into another time)... no spa treatments... no Palo... and we still had the Best. Vacation. Ever. I love the Mickey boat. :lovestruc

The F/E gifts were amazing... thank you to everyone who participated! My kids felt very special and very spoiled coming back to the room each night to find goodies and treats. :goodvibes

I loved meeting so many of you! The lanyards were AWESOME - so fun to be able to identify fellow DDD-DISers. My sister got the group photo on her personal camera, so I promise I will get that photo from her within the week and make it available to everyone.

So... anybody rebook for the 10/24/09 Eastern? :rolleyes1 I can't believe I didn't know you could book more than one cruise... we'd budgeted the deposit for another cruise, so with the 50% deposit discount we could have booked two! Bummmmmmer.

Today is rest and recuperation - the kids have a free pass to watch movies all day, DH is putting all the luggage away and running the necessary errands, and I am tackling Mt. Washmore :laundy: and catching up on emails. I can't wait to read people's trip reports - please post a link if you write one! :flower3:

Ahhhhh, I love my DDD friends. Thanks for making the last 600+ days so much fun. :grouphug:

I'm SO in the dark...what happened with the sewage spill???

Here's the not so condensed version:
(this is from another thread I started so if it seems generalized, and not in the writing style I generally address you guys in, it is!:lmao: )

We had that room-6022-, and the Cat 11 directly across the hall, 6019. About a week before we sailed we discovered that our reservation had been changed to 6018 and 6019. This was disconcerting since the door to 6018 is actually about 50 feet down the hall from 6019, and we had our two children ages 7 & 8 in 6019 alone, and now we were waaaaaaay down the hall from them.

After a week of frantic calling between DCL and our TA, we were told there was not much they could do for us since the ship was full. They put us "on the top of the waiting list" for a Cat. 4 instead, or anything adjoining or connecting of our category 8 or higher. When we boarded we asked for the supervisor and asked again why 6022 was not ready (right after dry dock?!?!?!) and all they would say was "maintenance issues" and it turned out they did not having anything else for us at that time, to check back later and see if anyone missed the ship! We did check back and all they could offer us then was two adjoining (not connecting) Cat/11's on deck 5 (and no offer of compensation). We did not accept that since we had paid a lot of $$ for the Cat 8 oceanview.

Anyhoo, we discovered the problem with 6022 is sewage related. The entire cruise "fluids" were leaking in to the hallway outside 6022. They had a blower constantly on the carpet outside the room. Occasionally we would see maintenance personnel with plungers in & out. We saw inside the room and it is in no way ready for occupancy, the bed (mattress) is gone and the box springs are broken apart and laying around the room. You can also see other equipment propped in front of the porthole from the outside.

Just thought anyone crusing soon in that area would like to be prepared. The people on the FAR side of our new room (meaning the other side of us from the problem rooms, in 6016) were complaining incessantly about the odor, and even were addressing a manager up in the hallway one time.
Honestly we did not find the smell that obtrusive. It was there but not unbearable and it did not seep into our rooms, not even the one in close proximity (6019).
We did not ask to speak to a manager or complain about the situation after being unable to find acceptable adjoining rooms the first day, but I did mention this on my comment card, as I it was extremely inconvenient for us, and in my opinion dissapointing that they did not resolve the problem during dry dock, or even during our cruise for that matter.

It was definitely a :headache: and a little bit  .

We were not overly impressed with the kids' clubs. It seemed really disorganized. Morgan went twice and that was it for the whole cruise.

I felt it was very disorganized for her age group. She really thought it was awful and chaotic. Dan spoke to one of the counselors at the desk about how Morgan felt and they really were very blah about it.

I think putting 8 and 10 year olds together is stupid personally. We asked if she could be in the 11-13 and they said it was no problem - but, by that point - she was no longer interested. It was fine with us because we really wanted to spend all of our time with her anyway.

Is anyone else still "rocking"?

Every once in a while I get the sensation of swaying.

And, we came home to the lovely surprise of having one of the huge panes of glass (it measures like 8 feet by 10 feet) on our store smashed and over $5000 worth of merchandise broken because a fight started in a bar across the street and some idiot threw another idiot through our store window. I'm so furious - it's sapped all my energy.

So sorry to hear about your store window. Stuff like that infuriates me...some people's carelessness...

Was it you that we talked with in the elevator about Morgan having gone on her first cruise at 18 months and that she didn't like the kids' club this time? That she had loved the kids' club every cruise up until this one?

Now I really think Reese picked up a bug on the ship...I'm glad we're home! He's had the worst tummy cramps all day & has had to stay near the toilet because of rear-end emergencies. Plus his stuffy nose & cough. whew! I'm glad we're not on a back to back now :)

Now I really think Reese picked up a bug on the ship...I'm glad we're home! He's had the worst tummy cramps all day & has had to stay near the toilet because of rear-end emergencies. Plus his stuffy nose & cough. whew! I'm glad we're not on a back to back now :)

Nope, wasn't me - Morgan went on her first cruise at 4 months and they didn't even have Flounders Nursery back then - we actually had to pay a CM on the side to watch her one night while we went to Palo's - which was fine. The Magic was nearly brand new then.

I did love your door, btw - Morgan and I had so much fun filling out our fact about where we live - we were the ones who live in a town that has a cove called Pirate's Cove.

I hope Reese feels better really soon!!

Boy I can't believe it's over:sad1: After almost a year of payments and it's over in a blink of an eye. Now is the unpleasant job of unpacking. It's a lot more fun to pack than to unpack unless your're unpacking the 1st day of the cruise.
We really enjoyed the tour of Grand Cayman with the stop at the turtle farm and to Hell and back. The Jeep Exploration Excursion was not worth the 85.00per person plus it's rained on us. The Jet Ski was great:woohoo: I think pulled a muscle in my chest just below my right shoulder doing this though.
We sighned up for another cruise for Sept. 26th. I see Maggie62677 & Nenner1 will be joining me:yay: We wanted to go to St. Croix or Tortola in Sept/Oct. but can't afford the $1,000 more then we paid this year per cabin.
Hope to see more of you next year. Maybe we CAN DO a 80's party.

Hey, Paul! Nope...didn't meet you either...there were SO many folks that I didn't get a chance to meet (got the strange looks from FatCat as well) anywho......:confused3

Yes, we booked the 9/26 cruise also - can't wait for that one! MY Dh had a little too much fun at Diversions on the last night and somehow Jocelynn talked him into booking the St. Criox...then he had no idea why it cost $1000 more than we payed this year...FOR THE SAME ROOM.:sad2:

So I took care of it and just booked us on the 9/26 cruise...hope to finally meet you!

I'm home. :( We're all safe, and our trip home went well. I'm just bummed to be here instead of somewhere (ANYwhere) in the ocean on the Magic. We truly had an awesome trip.

Hi all - just wanted to second the thank you's - the F/E gifts were amazing! The gifts so far exceeded my expectations. I had the best Secret Mickey in the world and this was an amazing cruise. Even though I am sad we are sitting here on the last night, all of you were a piece of an incredible memory for DH and I. Wishing you all the best and safe travels as you head home! :grouphug:

You aren't kidding. The FE gifts that everyone came up with were fantastic!!!! We had such a great time checking our pockets. I have separated the gifts into bags for each of us. I did that as we got more and more. :) I labeled the bags and packed them for home that way.

Thank you all SO much for letting us jump in on things late. You were an awesome group to sail with. I have so many memories of things on here *before* the cruise that will be cherished as much as the memories that I have of things ON the cruise. :)

Yikes. I can understand that. That's no good. We never made it to the pools - just too busy doing other things. When I saw the Mickey pool on Saturday, though, that wasn't the case. They got it all filled up and *immediately* drained it again. It was strange.

Can't blame you for playing lifeguard. I would have done the same thing.

I think the best part of walking the ship was seeing how creative all of you were with your door decor - we got so many great ideas for our next cruise!!

Our server, Hemant, was incredible!!! Gosh - I just want to go back. Right now.

That was fun, wasn't it? I loved seeing everyone's doors.

Oh, our servants were incredible, too!!!!! We had Malwyn and Sasha, and we became so very attached to them. If we get to go back on another Magic cruise, can we ask for specific servers???????

We are home too. :)

anyone else in shock from the temp changes? It is 50 degrees here, supposed to be 39 tonight.

Nope. Hot here, too. Suppose to be in the 80s all week......

BTW - I am still waiting for my servers to bring me my ice tea.....I am not readjusting well at all :confused3 :lmao:

Yep. My kids are waiting on someone to cut their food up .... and spoil them just a little bit more. :)

Can I have 2 appetizers tonight, too??????? :)

Poor guy. I hope he feels better!!

Laundry ... yes .... that was our heaviest bag on the way home. :confused3

yeah what happened...and was Elliott the cause???? :lmao: He had a blast in the clubs. My only regret was not getting closer to the front during the 'graudation' ceremony for better photos. (naturally when MICKEY came out Elliott was hiding behind a CM the rest of the show. )

Jaydin enjoyed it, too! In fact, all 3 of my kids loved their clubs/groups.

Yeah, the graduation ...... did anyone notice the little, pink unibomber behind Mickey and Minnie?? She was mine. ;) Not sure why she refused to wear the shirt and hat, but she did. She insisted on wearing her hoodie and would NOT take off the hood. Weird kid.

YES! I thought it was just me and that I needed to head to the doctor for vertigo. :rotfl:

Oh no. I'm so sorry.

Rocking??? my whole house is still swaying. :goodvibes I am usually rocking for about a week afterwards.

We had no problems with the kids clubs this year. It was nice having the oldest being able to check out herself. (and the 8 yr old could check out only if her older sister did.).

LOL!!!

Both of my boys could come and go as they pleased. They had a great time .... and *sometimes* even showed up for dinner ..... :confused3

I forgot to share with everyone too...

Jeff & I had THREE dates on the ship...the first we've ever done that since Reese was born in...uh...2003...:confused3

We watched the Bears game on Sunday, and watched two movies at the theater all by ourselves! We also actually got to visit the adult side of the ship to play Uno & relax some!

Reese was SO happy to stay in the kids' club alone this year. If you remember, last year on the cruise, Jeff and/or I stayed in the club with him because he didn't want us to leave him there alone. But this year, he kept pushing me out saying "Come back later!" I was so proud of him!!

He did say he was hiding on the first night. I had explained to him that only Mommy & Daddy could come pick him up, but apparently he thought it was HIS job to make sure of that. He said there were lots of "Don't Knows" coming to pick up kids and he was afraid they'd take him! Poor thing. So we went through the whole pick up process with the counselors and it clicked for him then. Made me sad thinking he was running around the kids' club hiding from other parents because he was afraid they'd try to take him out of the club!

Does not count. People were in terminal at time of your posting...

We had a great time meeting everyone. People kept recognizing me. I bought the group photo. Gonna hang it somewhere.

We went to MNSSHP on Sat 10/4 which was great. Actually got chairs above the main street circle near the train station to view the parade.

Only snag was on way home my bag was magically to large. No issue on way down but they were militiant in MCO and measured bag. Charged me $39 for oversize

We re-booked 10/10 Eastern ST Croix for now.

The kids' club incident...

My 3yo Celeste is a little spitfire - Miss Independent. We've never left her anywhere without us before, but we were sure she would have no trouble in the Oceaneers' Club. I stayed with her the first night, and the second day I stayed in the chairs just outside the club in the hallway just in case she needed me. Instead, she never looked back nor cared a bit that I was gone.

The third time we took her into the club I let the counselors know I was leaving her without me for the first time, and they promised to keep an extra-close eye on her. The 3-4yos were doing some activity, I forget... and Celeste dove right in. I checked on her about 30 minutes later and she was having a great time - I could see her but she didn't spot me.

Then another 45 minutes later I came to check on her again and the entire place was chaos - they had just transitioned EIGHTY-SEVEN 5-7 year olds into the Club, in addition to whatever 3-4yos were already there, and there were not enough counselors AT ALL to handle the ensuing madness. I couldn't see Celeste but I knew I didn't want her in there, so I went in and started looking for her. As soon as I walked into the main part of the Club I could hear her sobbing, but I couldn't find her. I was getting frantic as I could hear her even above the pandemonium... I was afraid she might be hiding somewhere, or that she might be hurt and unable to come out.

Instead I found her standing 5-6 feet from the "treasure chest television" bawling her little eyes out, sobbing and terrified. Her eyes were red and swollen and she'd obviously been crying for quite a long time... when I picked her up the front of her shirt was completely wet with tears. She kept repeating "Nobody helped me Mommy... I'm crying and nobody helped me. Nobody took care of me, Mommy." :sad1: It broke my heart to see my little smidget like that.

I headed for the exit and BLASTED the poor girl who was standing there. To her credit, she handled me very well - saying that never should have happened, getting on the radio and calling for more counselors, and offering to have a manager come talk to me. But I told her very honestly that I was in no position to talk to anyone - I was FURIOUS and ENRAGED and I was afraid I would do or say something I would later regret. She processed us immediately and let us out, saying she would have someone contact me the next day.

The following day I had an extended conversation with Gabi and Lisa, the manager and assistant manager of the youth programs. They said all the right things, acting contrite about the situation, saying they were so sorry and although they couldn't go back in time, they were willing to do whatever necessary to make sure Celeste didn't leave the ship with a negative impression of the Club, of being left to play, etc. They asked if Celeste had bonded with any particular counselor, and when I named one they immediately transfered her over from the Lab to the Club and assigned her to shadow Celeste, making sure she felt safe. Obviously there was no way I was going to leave Celeste alone in the club again, but I wanted her to be able to come in and play and have a positive experience instead of clinging to Mommy. They approached the situation with a problem-solving attitude, agreeing that the transition had been overwhelming and deciding that from that point forward they would put the 3-4yos into "Captains Closet" whenever they transitioned the 5-7yos in, just to make sure no little ones got lost in the shuffle. (Sidebar: That didn't happen, at least not consistently. I was in the Club with Celeste two more times on the trip when they transitioned the 5-7yos in, and only once did the 3-4s go into Captain's Closet at that time).

Meanwhile, my sensitive, reticent, somewhat fragile 6yo son *loved* the Club and Lab, and BEGGED to go there every waking moment of every day. <shrug> This is the boy who hates loud noises (cried for half an hour on Tuesday knowing there would be fireworks on Pirate Night, even though I assured him we would NOT hear them from our cabin while he was sleeping!) but somehow he felt perfectly fine with the din in the kids' clubs.

The only negative with him was the graduation ceremony. Knowing how he is, during the online registration for the youth activities I noted that he is scared of loud noises, especially surprises or other startling noises. Several hours before the graduation my husband talked directly to one of the counselors and re-explained the situation, then asked if there was any cause to be concerned with the ceremony. She said there would be "loud singing" but nothing else. So, when the streamers blasted and shot out across the stage, my poor little guy practically jumped out of his skin and burst into tears... and with the way everyone was sitting facing the audience, none of the counselors could see that he was distressed. I held off for a moment to see if he would be okay, but when he started crying harder I raced down the aisle to get the attention of one of the counselors to let them know he needed help (a big apology to anyone I stood in front of as I tried to get somoene's attention to help him out).

Overall not a HUGE deal - he rebounded fairly quickly and wanted to go back to the kids' programs later that night - but I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Obviously they deal with a lot of kids on each voyage - but really, between letting them know during registration that he has this sensitivity, AND speaking directly to a counselor hours beforehand... shouldn't somebody have been able to give us a heads-up about this?

So anyway, a long story to say our experience with the youth activities was very uneven. Dexter would live in the Club/Lab if he could, and after the incident Celeste had to be bribed to set foot in the Club again. (They arranged a private audience with Mickey in order to entice her to come play again). If we were cruising again tomorrow (don't I wish!) I would still let Dexter enjoy the programs as much as he wanted, but I wouldn't take Celeste in there at all. She's still traumatized - she keeps making me promise that I won't make her go in there again "because nobody would help me, Mommy" :( Not the lasting memory I want my 3yo to have of the Disney cruise, kwim?

Luckily, she has plenty of other wonderful memories to counteract the incident - she had a blast at the Mickey pool, going down the slide, chasing bubbles on Castaway Cay with "Miss Heather and her pirate boy" (I have no idea why she remembers him as a pirate!), meeting so many characters, developing her first crush (on "Mr. Lazslo" our assistant server). She cried getting off the ship, so even with all the trauma and drama, she still loves the Mickey boat. :cloud9:

Oh my goodness. That is so so so very sad to me. No child...NO child should go through that. I hope that she can recover easily and only focus on the good memories as the days ahead pass. Hugs for her and for you.

My 3 yo dd just bawled when we had to say good bye to Snow White. She was the most *wonderful* character with kids. She was so nurturing and loving, and my daughter fell in love with her (and I HATE the story of Snow White .... :confused3 ). She really did a great job.

This cruise was different for me.

I think because we were not traveling with a group(family) I was doing several things during the day. 3 nites I was in bed by 10:00pm.

I did see several of you from my cigar corner.

Overall I actually liked the buffets and the quick service food better this trip. I think I have had better food with the table service in the past.

I have quite taken to have a 3:00 pm Panini

Also the chicken tenders were particulary tasty this trip. I ordered them several times from Room Service along with the cheese platter.

Adrienne--

I am SO sorry to hear about the experiences with the kids' club! I thought there were a lot of kids in the club at times, and I remember last year when Reese was in the 3/4 year old group, that when the 5-7s came back into the club, it felt REALLY crazy & busy. Poor baby girl. Good for you to bring it to their attention. I can't imagine trying to keep organized with that many kiddos in one place!

Perhaps Celeste remembers Reese as "the pirate boy" because from the moment we step onto the Magic, Reese is a pirate. The whole time. So all those eye patches that were delivered in the FE gifts? AWESOME!!!!! Usually, we have one eye patch and it winds up lost for weeks at a time & Reese is sad. Now, I have a whole big stash!

And FatCat, although I thought about grabbing some Chik Fil A mayo before the cruise for you, I didn't. Glad others thought of your need for mayo though!!

Reese is standing in the pantry right now with the FE gift of the Mickey pin that flashes lights...telling me he's a police man...:)

Adrienne I'm so sorry you had that experience, it breaks my heart especially since my introvert of a 4 year old LOVED the clubs and latched on to several of the CMs. I saw you guys around the ship (and I kept telling my husband that your two were the CUTEST kids).

Elliott is still exhausted from the trip. We went to my parents yeasterday to pick up our puppies and to see my niece and nephew. Talk about crazy when we got there. The kids were running around (in Mickey ears) my parents were going through photos, my brother (who is recovering from foot surgery) is in a chair attempting to direct things....all I could think is "how much longer until we are back on the magic?"

Anyway...back to the real world for me today. Fatcat we didn't give you Mayo but I did seriously think about it. I wonder though if I could get someone to bring me hot tea at my desk all day?

Your son and my son must have been in 'cahoots' because my son was afraid of the same thing...crazy kid. :sad2: Had to go over the whole process with him about 15 times before he caught on....and that was on the first night. :lmao:

3 nites I was in bed by 10:00pm.

Sad to admit, but I think I have you beat on this one...I was in bed by 9:00 just about every night.....BUT at least I have a good excuse, I blamed it on the pregnancy.....

Overall I actually liked the buffets and the quick service food better this trip. I think I have had better food with the table service in the past.

Who put all the mayo in my FE?

I have to definately agree with you on this one. I think of all the DC's we've been on the food on this one was by far the 'least enjoyable'...I too preferred the buffet and and quik service....not sure what happened here - what was everyone else's take?

And BTW - the mayo was not from me....thought about it....but can't take the credit.

We loved Snow White also - she was terrific in character. I swear my son was hitting on her!

So sorry to hear about your incident...I can't even imagine what I would do - I have to give you LOTS of credit for handeling it the way you did...you get BIG Mom props....anyway, tell your little man to 'back down'...my 3 year old saw Snow White first....and I think she even winked at him!

Hi Everyone and welcome back to the real world of cooking, dishes and cleaning. UGH!

I'm sorry I didn't get to the the DIS meet or photo shoot. I looked forward to meeting everyone and didn't get the chance. It was nice to meet the people I did though.

Thank you for all the FE gifts. It was soooooo much fun making deliveries and the kids were (and me) excited each time we came back to the room to see what we got! OH......by the way.......thanks to the person who gave us a little green snake......the kids had tons of fun torturing me with it (I am deathly afraid of snakes of any kind...alive, dead or pretend). People probably thought I was being beat up from all the screaming coming from my cabin. I finally flushed it down the toliet because everytime I threw it in the trash it somehow made its way back to being wrapped or stuffed into my items to find.

The kids also enjoyed the Mexican Jumping Beans.....they had never seen them before.

If you didn't get a FE gift from me I am sorry. A few people on my list didn't have FE hangers out ???????

Not the best cruise I have ever taken. I've decided the poison I had two weeks prior to the trip isn't poison. I had more outbreaks all week, itchiness (sp), upset tummy and tired....many afternoon naps this trip and early bed times. I didn't enjoy the dinning food that much either. By Thursday, I didn't want to go to dinner. Our asst. waiter (Valerie from France) was the pits. She never talked or even smiled and her service was terrible. We had ice tea everynight and always had to ask her for sugar. Several nights, we even had to ask for forks. Hopefully, she leaves the cruise business soon.

On the other hand, our room man was excellent.....very friendly and went overboard on the service he provided us. Extra tips for him!

Off to go get groceries.......talk to you all later.

oh well. another Western will be fun, now that we know what to do. :)Wow, that's what I heard! Quite a suprise to me, especially seeing the meets thread and discovering it sure isn't full of Diser's! We did get rooms we wanted, 5031 and 5030, at Cat 6 and 11 on 5 aft...but right after that apparently Cat 6 went GTY. We actually waited all the way til Tues. to rebook, there is another example of annoying limited hours. EVERY time we passed that desk (when it was actually open!)the line was ridiculous! I saw several of you there!:wave2:

The kids' club incident...

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear this!:sad2: A couple of the times I went in there to get Savannah (5-7) the 3-4's were there too and it was utter pandemonium.
The pictures of them are just too cute!!!

Also the chicken tenders were particulary tasty this trip. I ordered them several times from Room Service along with the cheese platter.
OMG, yes! It just makes me shake my head even more at the parks for taking them away in favor of those sad wimpy little nuggets. Boo Hiss, WDW!

I had to order a tray of them from room service one last time at about midnight our last night to go with my leftover celebration cake.:rolleyes1

Who put all the mayo in my FE?
:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Jen, it was so great to meet your family!!!!!! Did you guys have car trouble when to disembarked?

Oh yes, we had a blast with you guys!!!! You all are so much fun! And thanks for thinking of us for the little extra gifts at the end. The kids just think you are the "nicest lady ever"!

And, yup....we were actually in a hurry when we left, the kids had a football/cheer game to get to, plus I didn't want Savannah to miss two weeks of dance company rehersal...and of course we get out to the lot and had a flat tire. Ron went to change it but we couldn't get to the spare....long story, but we finally got AAA in there past security. Erica and Lionel drove by us too. I was so embarrassed!!;)

I have to definately agree with you on this one. I think of all the DC's we've been on the food on this one was by far the 'least enjoyable'...I too preferred the buffet and and quik service....not sure what happened here - what was everyone else's take?

ITA. It seems the quality in the dining rooms is down a notch. Especially the filet, I had a few that were fatty:confused3 and even my Palo steak did not seem to be as good a cut of meat. And they changed the Animator's
Menu and took away some of the things we liked the most (If the Chocolate/Peanut Butter Pie had been gone I wouldve gone postal on them):rotfl2: Yeah, so overall dissapointed. The embarkation buffet was SAD compared to what I'm used to on the Wonder (I actually only ate some cucumbers, cheese and bread and desserts, that's it-nothing else there I liked or looked edible) Was nice to see pancakes and french toast on the breakfast buffet at Topsider's but how can they NOT have mickey waffles every day? That annoyed me. We had amazing service in the dining rooms though, which really made up for it a bit. We did like the second-day menu at Cookies a lot, too! However, I do think they have cut back on their costs by stocking not as high quality of food.

Back to reality for me...I have to go back to work tonight!

If you didn't get a FE gift from me I am sorry. A few people on my list didn't have FE hangers out ???????

Must have been us. Our room was changed. We started out with our FE on the new room which was down the hall, but ended up moving it to our other room, which was the closer of the two to the old room. I know we might have missed a couple of things and we got a couple of early gifts on the old room's fish and the floor! Oh and also someone tried to take our FE! Thank goodness for the zip tie! THANK YOU KIMBERLY!!!:thumbsup2

We actually thought the food in the dining rooms was BETTER than last year on the DVC Member's cruise. I wasn't impressed with Topsiders though, and the "TexMex" buffet was laughable. I finally gave up on the buffet for lunch and went counter service... muuuuch better... I never thought it would be possible to have too many chicken strips, but when we went to the grocery store yesterday, DH asked if I wanted chicken strips for lunch (our HEB makes them as good as DCL) and I about lost it. NO. MORE. CHICKEN!:rotfl:

Rest of the cruise was great, except for the two nights that our door magnets disappeared. Dress up Mickey went MIA on Monday night between 9-11pm and our "Casa de Day" sign disappeared on Friday night. Mean people suck.

I was impressed overall with the food on DCL. I've cruised Royal Caribbean and Carnival in the past, and I thought the DCL food was better. There were some misses (the beef tenderloin was downright nasty) and several things were just okay, but I had a handful of dishes that were out of this world. Did anyone have the parmesan-crusted mahi mahi? That was the second-best piece of fish I've ever eaten in my life (first being a delicious ahi steak in Maui). And the portobello risotto was to die for - my mom and I shared it and had to push the plate down to the other end of the table to keep us from continuing to take "just one more bite... just one more bite" after we were both full - the dish was *so* rich, but incredibly delicious.

I loved the turkey/bacon/tomato panini at Goofy's Galley and thought the pizza was decent (much better than RCCL or Carnival, but nothing to write home about). Somehow we managed to miss the chicken strips entirely! Definitely need to rectify that next time. :) And I loved the soft-serve on Deck 9 - I'm usually not a fan of soft serve ice cream, but this was yummy.

Okay, now I'm hungry. ;)

As I stated in an earlier post, I was a bit disappointed with the presentation of many items in the Dining Rooms. Granted, I was very active the entire week and used the stairs almost exclusively, but I actually lost 3 pounds on this cruise!! I wish I had taken more photos of food this trip because I had many of the same items as last year and the comparison was pretty remarkable. I will say that the Lobster was much better this year than last!

Regarding Kid's Clubs - DS4 spent 15 minutes total and refused to be left alone. I felt that things were very unorganized and the CMs we encountered were just not very friendly.

Our Dining Room Servers were excellent as was our Room Steward. We even tipped a bit extra to our Head Server in the Dining Room because he was very nice and changed our Dining time and rotation at my request.

Well, when Mickey went missing, we thought that they left the other magnet because it was personalized... Guess not.:confused3 I can't figure out why anyone would want our magnet with our name on it.... Now we are plotting ways to make magnets unstealable. So rude.

Re CMs: We had an outstanding stateroom hostess (Flori from Romania) and our head server (Yolande from South Africa) went to great lengths to ensure my dairy-allergic daughter had appropriate meal and dessert options every night. Our dining room servers (Cloverly from Jamaica and Lazslo from Hungary) were very nice and friendly, but their service sometimes left a little to be desired. Still, I'd rather have someone who is fun to talk to and who my kids adore, even if I have to ask three times for something like a drink refill or a clean spoon.

Nobody stole any of our magnets (that I think anyway..I had so many of them I might have lost track), but on our doors people (not always kiddos, sometimes up high) kept wiping their fingers across them and dragging off the ink, then wiping their inky fingers on the doors.

I had to wash off all three doors the last night, and I will have to throw away pretty much all of the magnets because of it. Next time we will laminate.

The kids' club incident...

Instead I found her standing 5-6 feet from the "treasure chest television" bawling her little eyes out, sobbing and terrified. Her eyes were red and swollen and she'd obviously been crying for quite a long time

I'm so sorry she had this experience. My younger son was in the 5-7 group and I agree that those two groups didn't mesh all that well together. Since he is older though it wasn't traumatizing for him - but a 3 year old and an almost 7 year old are quite different. He probably seemed really old to her and the 3 year olds were like babies for him. I think they should not have put these two groups together as much as they did. I tried to keep him out when I saw they had them together as he didn't enjoy the club as much then. I am glad that you had a sit-down with the management on this. For the 3-4 year olds - being with 6-7 year olds (1st and 2nd graders) is just too much I think.

Hi all, just wondering what the feedback from your 11-13 year olds on the Disney Quest was? Our DD and DS went one time, then didn't go back. I am thinking it wasn't structured enough for them? Not sure, not getting a lot of constructive feedback from them. Just wondering:confused3

My older son is almost 11 (few weeks to that birthday) so they let him in OQ and he LOVED it. He really enjoyed the counselors and the ability to come and go. He could go with them to the activities or stay in OQ - he enjoyed all of it including the other kids.

I thought the food was MUCH better this trip than our 7 night trip on the Magic about a year ago. DH thought the same. The food was so darn bland last year I really got sick of it. I was planning not to eat in the dining room as often this trip but we ended up going every night except our Palo night. I though the Topsiders lunch wasn't quite as good - though the desserts made up for it!:goodvibes

Many thanks to the FE folks - we loved all of our gifts. Who made the little scrapbook? There were a few handmade items in there (notepads, sticky pads, etc) and I just wanted to give those people some extra kudos - that scrapbook looked like hard work and is beautiful. The kids loved all the pirate stuff and tattoos and the pens - the jumping beans are awesome! The survival kits were quite useful - all the little toys and trinkets & glow sticks- the whoopee cushion and vampire teeth were a big hit with my 6 year old - LOL! - many thanks to everyone!:thumbsup2

My DS was in the 3-4 and he never wanted to leave but he is a very outgoing, talkative kid who has never met a stranger and would just go ask a CM if he wanted anything. I did feel as if it wasn't as orgaised as I thought it should have been but thats just me.

My DD is more shy and she was in the 5-7 she had a great time too. But our last day as CC she wanted "family" time so the 3 of us spent the day togther no serinity bay for Mom and Dad But we had a AWSOME time togther.

My biggest complaint about the club is some of the best stuff happens in the evening and if they did it they would miss the shows and my kids loved the shows.

Yeah, we ran into Brent in Sessions after Mickey went missing and considered complaining to him... but really, what's the point? Besides, they only got the top half of his tux, his hat and dress shoes... all the other "clothes" were on the inside of our door. Ah well... it's not a big deal.

Hello all,

It was so nice meeting so many of you! We enjoyed the cruise but I think we extended our vaca a little too long with 2 days at Disney after........we are all exhausted!

Diana,

Wow, we had Valerie from France at late seating along with Ivan from Bulgaria and they were both awesome! She would cut up the kids food and make sure our drinks were refilled, usually without asking. In fact, her and Ivan even shelled our shrimp for us. She had our drink order memorized after the 2nd day! We wanted to take them both home with us. That's crazy how we both got totally different impressions.

I am happy to be home............but not back to work tomorrow!

Talk to you all later!

I don't think I lost any magnets but I did come out on Thursday morning to find all of our magnets on the door across from us. Kind of funny 'cause the lady was just entering into their cabin with her grand-daughter and I heard her saying "I know this is our room but I don't know where all these nice magnets came from...." I took a quick look at my door and realized that they were mine!!! I thought my son had done it (since he loved turning my magnets upside down all week) but he swears he didn't do it. At least they just moved them somewhere I could find them right away!

Our servers were Oppie and Marko. Oppie was our server and he was very good. We had no complaints about his service but he wasn't overly personable. We found out Saturday AM that he was finished his contract and was going home for 3 months so he may have been a bit distracted, but again, we couldn't complain about his service.

Our assistant server, Marko, on the other hand was fantastic. We had so much fun with him and he knew our drinks after the first night. Always had that coffee cup ready for my Mom. We even ran into him one afternoon at Pluto's. We picked up our food and we were looking for a table when I turned around and there was Marko with two diet cokes!!! (one for me and one for my son). He then checked with my Mom to see if she still wanted coffee (since it was hot on Deck 9) and also checked with Amy as to what she would like since they didn't have Ginger Ale up on Deck 9. He really went out of his way!!!

We really wanted to bring Marko home but I think his wife would have objected!!!:confused3

AQW: Ditto about the 3-4 year old Club! I think we're done with Disney after this latest bit of insanity at the Oceaneer's Club. Fiona was hurt by counselors TWICE and not one of them said anything. I went to check Fiona in after swimming one morning and was told she had gotten into TWO FIGHTS. Ya think they coulda said something when she was picked up or maybe PAGED US???? :headache:

I'm still a bit ticked off. DCL didn't refresh either of our staterooms... Our menus were even tattered several times. Sagging beds. Dirty, unpatched grout.

DCL People overall were great, but I think we're done. I'm still deciding on cancelling the 2009 double dip, but that ship isn't getting any younger. :confused3

WDW was ok...we were VERY tired, MNSSHP was AWESOME, NO crowds...
And the people at WDW just arent as friendly, nice, helpful etc as DCL, DCL puts WDW to shame!!!

Dave and I are both loving the chilly weather too! I'll take it anyday over humid weather! :)

Well...as far as the wedding is concerned, we took my ring to get sized today...it's going to take 2 weeks! :scared1: It feels so weird not having it on my finger!

When do you have to go back to work?

AQW: Ditto about the 3-4 year old Club! I think we're done with Disney after this latest bit of insanity at the Oceaneer's Club. Fiona was hurt by counselors TWICE and not one of them said anything. I went to check Fiona in after swimming one morning and was told she had gotten into TWO FIGHTS. Ya think they coulda said something when she was picked up or maybe PAGED US???? :headache:

DCL People overall were great, but I think we're done. I'm still deciding on cancelling the 2009 double dip, but that ship isn't getting any younger. :confused3

You Fish Extender crazies: HOLY COW you guys are amazing!!! Fiona was LOVING all the gifts! She loved to make "lists" with the notebooks, and was ecstatic over all the candy and toys! THANK YOU!!!

I can't imagine the Princess getting into two fights! She's so sweet!

No, not at all.. But she talks to and about "Jared" ALOT so I assumed that was him.. ;)

Aha!!!! I see. :) Jared has kept pretty quiet about things on the ship (what happens down in Mexico, stays in Mexico, I guess .....), but has a very cute (guilty) grin when he does mention his "friends" on the boat. :)

I will say that he had a very good time and would go back right NOW if he could. :)

Yeah, exactly!!! Fiona doesn't fight. We've never gotten that feedback from 3+ years of day care, and the kid doesn't hit us, no matter how frustrated we've made her!

Yeah, we'll see. :confused3

I can't imagine Fiona getting in a fight, much less TWO fights. Jumping up and down like a crazy person, yes, fighting, no. ;)

The kids' club incident...

:cloud9:

Our son did not like the kids club either and he goes to half day preschool every day. I went to pick him up one night and could not find him anywhere.:scared1: There were literally 200 kids in there. He was in the 3-4 yr old group. Every time we left him we were paged except twice (Cozumel we left him on the boat and Palo night) Anyway, this was a time I was paged and went to find him and he was nowhere. I checked all the areas and finally asked a counselor. She couldn't find him and made an announcement for him to come up to the stage, he did not and she checked the boys bathroom and no luck there. I was beginning to get a little panicked at this point. He finally emerged from behind somewhere and he too had been hiding because he did not like the club. I felt really bad for him and annoyed too that the main reason we cruise is so the whole family can have a much needed break ocassionally. We don't just dump him in the kids club but want him to enjoy his vacation with other kids since he is an "only" I was not at all impressed with the kids club but just assumed it was because Disney has so many kids on their boats. I am probably going to get kicked off the boards but think we will go back to Royal Carribean next year.

We did however truly enjoy our first Disney cruise other than the kids club and we thought overall the food quality was not quite as good as some of the other lines.

We did think Disney excelled in some areas of service such as the service on the private island with the water and towels being handed out as we got back on the boat. And in her defense, Ms. Grumpy was having trouble with the ice cream station. Apparently one whole station ran out of icecream and angry Castaways wanted more, more more. :rotfl:
