We had a beautiful day yesterday and it looks like it is going to be the same today! Why couldn't it have been like this in summer?:confused3 Ah well, we enjoyed it.
Better late than never, Marilyn. I hope the nice weather stays for you! You sure had more than your share of rain and cooler days.
What a great photo.
Yes, he's so cute!

Off to church now, then Tyler wants to clean when we come home, then one of his friends is coming over later to play on our playset in the backyard. So I probably won't check back here until after he's in bed or while he's in his bath. Have a great day everybody! :goodvibes

Well my work day is over ;) I called Jon and he said are you going to start spending more money than you make like you use to :lmao:
That is always worth considering! ;)
What do we (I) spend on food, clothes, fuel, childcare, etc. differently when working vs. not working.:confused3:
Some families are able to live larger on one salary when the other parent is home keeping judicious watch over the out-go.:thumbsup2: than when they had two salaries.
We are so fortunate to live at a time when there are so many options.::yes::
What gets to me is when people try to tell others how to make those decisions. :sad2: or judge them by how they made those decisions.
Jan :)

2010 SAILINGS - RUMORS, RUMORS, RUMORS
We want to "dish some dirt" about the 2010 sailings. Keep in mind, these are just rumors, but that's how most of this begins.
It looks like the Wonder will be doing 5 and 4 night sailings in June, July and August of 2010. They won't alternate, it will be two 5's and a 4 night. No idea of where it will be going, but it should "ease the pain" for those wanting to sail while school's out and want more than 3 night sailings when the Magic is expected to be overseas.
We already got the glimpse of the Magic being scheduled to be in the Baltics. However, there appears there's a twist to this as it may not be heading there straight away.
From what we've heard, on April 10, the Magic heads on a 14 night Transatlantic voyage. It arrives on 4/24 and begins with an 11 night sailing. On 5/5 there's a 10 night, on 5/15 an 11 night and on 5/26 a 10 night.
Here's where it gets interesting. On 6/5 there's a 7 night. Hmm...could the Magic be traveling from say, Barcelona to England? Are those 10 and 11 night sailings in April and May in the Mediterreanean? It would appear so.
From England, the Magic is scheduled for four 12 night sailings starting on 6/12. These are rumored to be the Baltics, including Copenhagen, Oslo and Warnemunde, Germany.
On July 30, it appears that there's going to be an 8 night sailing. We're speculating this is back to Barcelona. The schedule from there is an 11 night on 8/7, a 10 night on 8/18, an 11 night on 8/28, and a 10 night on 9/8.
Finally, on 9/18, the Magic should be heading "home" on a 14 night Transatlantic voyage.
Again, none of this is confirmed, these are "rumors."
Now, that is complicated!!

It would be nice if they could have added a new port or an extra day at sea wouldn't it?
I don't think I want to do a Transatlantic on those dates so that is disappointing.:sad2:

Horrible morning, quick post while lunch is cooking. Tyler had to leave Kingdom Kids this morning at church and a teacher came to the sactuary to get me. He was too aggressive and violent for them to handle. He was hitting one boy and RIPPED the other kid's shirt. That other boy used to be his best friend, but asked the teacher to separate them because he's now afraid of Tyler because Tyler kicked him in the face at school this week giving him a bloody mouth. The teachers at church were just shocked because they've never seen him so out of control. :sad2: So now he hates himself and is telling me he's afraid I'm going to kill him and that the other boy's mom is going to kill him, etc. He needs to get off this "killing" topic because it's very disturbing.
Anyway, that's our day so far. Before our appointment with the psych this Thursday, I'm going to gather all the paperwork the school sends me from the episodes, and write any that we don't have documented and fax it to the Dr. so he'll have the full story beforehand. :sad2:

YES, we LOVE new ports and extra sea days!
I don't want to do a transatlantic on the current ships. I've outrun a hurricane and watched the veteran crew members tossing their cookies. I don't want any rougher seas than that. I'll wait for the new ships to do a transatlantic.

It's Football day in America......I'll be watching my Giants at 1pm.
Well I finished all the unpacking and sorting and selecting of clothes last night. Just gotta get them puppies washed and folded and repacked.
When I laid out all the clothes from my PC cruise suitcase and organized it into piles.....I realized that I brought enough stuff for the whole three weeks (my week in LA and Vegas after cruise) and then some. I had soooooooooooo many tops......what was I thinking???
From all of that I have seclected 10 days of clothes for this trip.....including the drive down and back. I probably am still overpacked.....but what the heck! I'll have extra just in case I need it.....one never knows. Now where is my Tide pen......I used it every night after eating dinner. It worked great!

And I wanted a TA to ENGLAND...not Spain! (Truthfully, I'd prefer to wait for the new/bigger ships anyway.)
Well, the Baltic is more appealing to me than a repeat of the 07 Med ports. BUT if the Med ports of call leaned more towards Italy/Greece, I'd be having a hard decision (once again Barcelona being a negative).
Wonder what the ports of call will be for the 7/8 day shifting from the Med to the Baltic. If it involved a couple of UK ports, that would interest me (except for that blasted round trip airfare coming and going to two different cities....oh, duh, I could fly round trip to London on a package and just pop over to Barcelona 'internally, so to speak).<----and, therefor a week in a cottage in the UK could be mixed in very nicely with that sceanerio also, eh Monica?
Well, we'll have all the details in a couple of weeks.

I like choice with clothes when I am away so always overpack. Then I usually end up just wearing the same things as they are usually the most comfortable anyway!!!

I'm just getting worn out. We started this journey with the first doctor a year ago in July and I'm not sure how much more I can take. The issues used to only happen at school and day care, never church until now.
I wonder if I can double my St. Johns Wort. Will have to google some info later.

I'm amazed at how many tops and clothes I took on the PC cruise, but did I take any less for the WDW trip? NO! For 10 days, I think I took about 15-20 tops. I'll probably wear 5.....because some days I have dresses, some days I have bathing suits and cover ups. But do I take any less with me.....NO!

BELIEVE ME.....I know how tedious it can get when you're dealing with the same issues over one year later. I feel for you and Tyler both. Take a day off and do something to pamper you and him. Somehow you have to find that one thing that will rejuvinate you again to keep up the good fight. You're so close now. You have to find the mental stamina to continue....both of you. It's not easy, but it's worth it. Do a visualization exercise and sit calmly and quietly and imagine yourself past all of this to the place where you have reached your goal. It will help you get there. Have Tyler try doing it too.
Hugs!

Exactly! That's why I just don't like the idea of women in power positions. It's just the way I am. I don't like working for women either. We're just so emotionally unpredictable.
Ouch Holly....I am sorry to hear any woman say that. I think that although we do have hormonal fluctuations, we are in control of our actions.
I don't think my issue is hormone related. I think women CEOs have a sense of more to prove against their male counterpoints. I also think they can't show they are vulnurable to those under them. I don't see these traits as hormonal:sad2:

I'm sooooo in heaven......It's a weekend, so I can be off diet. Yesterday I only had diet food in the house so that's what I ate. Today I said, I need to cheat. I just ate 1/2 of a steak and cheese subway. Too full to eat the whole thing. That's good because I used to be able to eat the whole thing.....not anymore. Then I got two cookies. I just ate a chocolate chip and it was soooooo good.

Hi Guys, Been a frantically busy week here, took me forever to get caught up.
So now with being un (self) employed I can figure out what to do with the next 20 years of my working life.
Since our retirement age is now 72, we can have several interesting careers instead of the way most of our parents/grandparents did it... working a job they hated for their entire lives. :cutie: Do what you love, the money will follow.
Speaking of food, I just realized I never ate lunch, only ice cream. And never ate supper either. Tyler ate a hot dog at the game before he came home, so after we went grocery shopping, he had a yogurt before getting his pjs on and he's satisfied, so I'll eat after he's in bed. He's dinking aroung getting jammies on, but I'll be headed off to read his bedtime book in a minutes. His teacher has been reading the class a book about some girl called Junie B, so Tyler picked 2 of those books on his library day yestreday. I've never heard of her, but it's a strange choice for a boy. Oh well, he's excited, so that's all that matters. Off I go! Back later with some AWESOME news after he's in bed!
We've been collecting the Junie B Jones books from garage sales for a year now. It is a huge series.
I don't think my issue is hormone related. I think women CEOs have a sense of more to prove against their male counterpoints. I also think they can't show they are vulnurable to those under them. I don't see these traits as hormonal:sad2:
I agree 100%
Ian, got a laugh out of the women flirting with you! Did all the pics come through?
Love the Tree House Villas, can't wait to find out how much they are going to be in points.
Has anyone heard any rumors about the points at the GC?
Holly, Good luck with the new job! for Tyler!!

Junie B Jones is a very popular 1st grade reading book. She is a tomboy and speaks in a very strange voice (diction, not accent) I think you will both like it. :thumbsup2 Molly loved them, Wilson was hit and miss, but I think they have enough humor to capture boys too :rotfl:

Yippee! Tyler just came to me with a piece of paper to show me he just wrote a 3, 2, and 5. I wondered why things were so quiet, it's because he was in his room practicing. He used to have a horrible time with those numbers because of the curves. His hand just wouldn't go that way. I was so excited and knew he did it without looking at anything to see how they go because there's nothing in his room with numbers on it! He was all happy and told me he was practing with the resource teacher and that's how he learned. It's such a huge thing for him to be able to write something from memory. He hasn't been able to before, other than his first name and "mom".

my client and I didn't have a good fit. I hate to say it but I find it really hard to work for women. I find that they don't allow themselves to show their vulnerable side and don't take my advice very well. Men for some reason to me are just a better fit. While I did have a good thing happen with her, I decide that I am really sick of what I've been doing for 20+ years. So now with being un (self) employed I can figure out what to do with the next 20 years of my working life. I just wish I had some unemployment to cover this time of no income, but not in the stars for those of us who are self employed.
And thanks about the jury thing, I think I would be a good juror, I just didn't want to do it. I got done with my on call at 10am this morning :goodvibes

Hey Nan...
How did Speed do?????
ok, here is the story.
It was a long day we got to the track at 1:30 and his first heat was at ~7:30pm, waiting for the sun to set. During the grid for the heat Paul and another dad heard and saw what they thought was a bad muffler on another cart. Set the stage for drama. Wilson qualifies badly 5 of 7 (i think) then the heat he pulls up to 4th. At the main after watching everyone spin out all day long (except Wil) the first corner after the green flag he takes a quick half spin (he stopped very quickly and safely to aviod making a big crash site) and ends up last. Makes his way up to 3 with good racing and passing. We have suspected the kid in first is a cheater for about 1/2 the season, but can't catch him in tech, he walked away from the group. The kid in 2nd was the one with the muffler issue and Paul talks to tech about it and sure enough he is out of spec, but the Race director made this stupid comment to Paul saying "I feel really bad about DQing Kid Karts, so what do you think I should do" Basically putting the DQ on Paul's shoulders which really sucks because Paul is a nice guy and of course doesn't want to make the kid sad for his dad's error. I stepped up and voiced my concern (I HATE THE CHEATING THAT GOES ON IN THIS LEVEL) and said it really seems obivous to me, if he passed tech no issue, if not DQ. Then the father of 1st comes over and says "we passed tech and we don't think #2 is an issue" I turned to him and said of course it isn't your issue, you are first, this isn't your concern. He and I continue to get into it and he is really being a jerk to me. I got very upset and walked away crying. I am just sick of the BS that goes on in this level and the cheating of the fathers. Paul races so fair and poor Wilson gets the shaft because we are fair and legal. It just sucks.
The deal they struck after I walked away (which is stupid to me) is that kid in 2nd of course has to use a new muffler today at the race and if he looks like that muffler from yesterday really helped him he will get DQed. So stupid. This is such a Black and White for me. Tech is a gage of meaurement, either you are in it or you are out of it.
I was so upset last night that we came home and I didn't go to the race today. My nephews met Paul and Wilson at 6am to go back up.
So Wilson took 2nd last night, but was given the 3rd place trophy. Paul thinks none of the places will matter for club points, Wilson is still in 2nd, but it will affect other kids that the cheater gets to keep his 2nd. I'm pissed and not letting it go just yet. I'm sure I will find a place to let it go, but for now I'm just pissed off.
Next year we are going to a larger kart and a sealed engine, so this nonsense won't happen in that class. I'm also thinking that we may leave this club and just race at Infineon. That track is a business not run by a club, as is the track we race at now. The sad part is that we have made friends with the non cheaters at our club and would miss them if we left. But some of those friends are also leaving and going to Infineon also.
Okay, going to get more coffee and calm down, typing it all up got my upset again.
p.s. the trophies from last night are very cool, they light up and flash like a disco ball (in a trophy) but I still want Wilson to have the bigger 2nd place one

Oh Michelle, I have no idea. It is just too complicated, and if the Transatlantics are as rumoured, then I don't think I will be doing one. However, the September WB should have less children than if it was leaving in august, so who knows? Need to see what the Med and Baltic cruises are too.
I might look at other ships, though other itineraries are not out yet.

Hugs!
Thanks Deb. Sundays are always our get out and fun day anyway, unless we're hanging around at home having fun, so it's usually a great day, fun and recharges our batteries in a way.
But today I had to sew 3 patches on his scout shirt. I'd never sewn in my life before having to sew 3 patches on his karate outfit, so this is good practice for me! :thumbsup2 And while I was doing that, Tyler was cleaning the living room to make room for him to play with his friend that was supposed to come over. Her mom just called and asked if I can come to her house instead because she's babysitting a niece. So Tyler says, "Then I cleaned the living room for nothing!" :rotfl2:

And while we're on the subject of princesses, there was great debate between Jackie, Cheri and I while we were in DL as to the "truth" about Disney princesses.
I contend that some of these so called "princesses" are nothing but class-jumping impostors.
Let's look at the facts, shall we?
Q. Snow White .... Princess? Yes or No?
A. She may be mousy and a complete bubble headed wimp, but yes she's a princess. Her stepmother is a Queen, albeit and evil one but a queen nonetheless. The woodsman refers to Snow White as, "Your Highness."
Q. Cinderella .... Princess? Yes or No?
A. No. Cindy come from an upper middle class family but that does not make her a princess. It makes her merely bourgeois. Worse still, though bourgeois, she is less than a scullery maid or a boot boy. Becoming a maid of all work would be a step up for Cindy.
In all of her portrayals in character she is in her "going to the ball" get-up, which in turn means that she is still virginal and in a state of pre-marriage and ergo, not a princess. When they start introducing her as Mrs. Prince Charming she can take the title of Princess.
Q. Aurora ... Princess? Yes or No?
A. Definitely yes. There is no doubt here as to her bloodline.
Q. Belle ... Princess? Yes or No?
A. Definitely No. Belle is lower class. Her father may be an inventor but let's face it, they hardly have two pennies to scratch together. Belle like Cindy is portrayed in her virginal going to dance with a hairy beast persona, and not post marriage. As a matter of fact in Beauty and the Beast we never do get a hint that a marriage is afoot, do we? Only that she may be the prince's good time girl. As a matter of fact, when she appears in character it is either in her peasant garb (Belle's story time) or in her gown with the Beast. Clearly Prince Adam (yes he has a name, check the Disney encyclopedia) has not yet married her. In short, Belle is nothing more than someone who has aspirations above her station.
Q. Jasmine ... Princess? Yes or No?
A. Clearly Jasmine (Princess Jasmine) is a princess, though she is probably an Islamic princess, something that somehow gets overlooked.
Q. Alice ... Princess? Yes or No?
A. Interesting conundrum. Alice does start out middle class. Let's face it, she lives in a cottage not a grand house. However, in Alice Through the Looking Glass, she does, on the chess board become a Queen.
Q. Arial ... Princess? Yes or No?
A. There is no question here at all. She is referred to as Princess Arial. There might be something fishy about her and her whole family, but without a doubt they are of royal lineage.
And finally,
Q. Mary Poppins
A. Of course not. Mary Poppins, however magical she may be is merely domestic help, though to be a governess, one traditionally did come from the middle class. Her station in the house would be well above that of a lady's maid. Technically, as such, she might be allowed to take her meals with the family and not below stairs.
The moral? Know your princesses! Do not be decieved by imposters. Think twice before letting your daughters dress.
Ask yourself whether they should be a real princess or merely a cheap social climbing tart.

Since our retirement age is now 72, we can have several interesting careers instead of the way most of our parents/grandparents did it... working a job they hated for their entire lives. :cutie: Do what you love, the money will follow.
72? Heck, many people don't even live that long! Is that age just in CA? Because here it's 62. My stepmom retired a few years before 62 and just recently started getting what she calls her "rocking chair checks" when she turned 62. And my coworker who is 60 keeps talking about when she can retire in 2 years. I'm confused now.
We've been collecting the Junie B Jones books from garage sales for a year now. It is a huge series.
I really love the book we started last night. Very cute! But I have to say I like his other favorite better: The Magic Treehouse series with Jack & Annie. :goodvibes

No Friday beer night for me tonight. Headed to bed so I can get up at 7 for work in the morning. After reading in bed last night I only ended up with like 4 hours of sleep, so I'm wiped out. Goodnight all! Since I'll be the only one in the office, I'm SURE I'll cheat on my work and DIS a bit, maybe every 15 min or so to take mini-breaks. ;) Well, the nice attorney (the Energizer Bunny), the one whose work I'm doing tomorrow, told me he might stop in on his way back home in the morning after dropping stuff off at his tailgate location for tomorrows MSU/Notre Dame football game. At least I think that's who it is. I wouldn't even know there was a game if it wasn't for Tyler's dad telling me he got free tickets from work and is taking Tyler.
Speaking of his goofy dad, he called me at work and was just babbling away like crazy for no apparent reason. I swear, he's getting so goofy. Then he asked about Tyler's karate gear and bag I just bought (Tyler took it to his dad's house to show him), because he wanted to know how much it cost. I told him it was supposed to be about $340, but the owner knocked some off the price and gave it to me for $250. He told me he's going to give me a check tomorrow for 1/2. I told him that's not necessary because it really wasn't a problem for me to get it, and I don't expect him to do that. He told me he knows I don't expect it of him and that's why he wants to. What the heck happened to him? I'm thinking he got hit in the head at the jobsite on a day when he forgot his hardhat or something. Strange.
Maybe a little RESPONSIBILITY is seeping into his thought processes. Don't knock it.

Nan, the cheating going on must be so frustrating. It just screws the kids and after all, it's supposed to be all about the kids. :sad2: So unfair for Wilson. But congrats to him for getting 3rd! That's a great place to be, especially since he got a trophy! :goodvibes I like your idea of leaving the club and racing at the other place, especially since others are doing the same, so you'll still have friends there.

Do you mean weather wise? Don't think it would matter all that much.
Hmmmmmm....this issue should be which is a better week to visiti in the UK, first week of May, second week of September????? Might as well make it a three week vacation. Although, planning time in the UK around a Baltic cruise would be more realistic as far as time off from work goes.
Don't even know WHY I'm doing all that speculating, no way could I afford a long cruise that included flights to and from Europe. That idea of a 2010 Christmas cruise (booked opening day) is looking more and more likely.

I had a hard night but reading through this thread has made me laugh. My Dad has decided he doesn't want an electric wheelchair and we can just push him in is wheelchair. My mom told him he will get a chair as she can't push him up a hill and then it happened, he fell out of his chair. My mom called me and was crying. Well today we all wanted to go down stairs and he tries to come too. He only made it down 2 steps before he fell. He fell backwards but couldn't get back up. We couldn't lift him and he was to weak to get up. It took all 3 of us to get him in his chair. Then my mom and I helped him upstairs to bed. They are adding on a bedroom on the main floor but it will take 6months. They are also going to build a side walk to the downstairs so he can some down. It was horrible though.
We really need this cruise but I am very worried how he will get in the room. But I did get some good news today. We got a room, we will be in 2002. All the way foward but I will deal with it as it has good reports. I had a foward cabin on my first cruise and I could only sleep in it as I got sea sick. I will just take my medicine every day and maybe it will be better since we will have a window. No matter what this is going to be an amazing cruise!!!
Wow that was a long post sorry! Tomorrows will be better, we are having a girls day out, scrapbook convention and mall!!! Matt is being so nice and staying with my Dad.
You may have already reported on this, but can you get a handicapped accessible room on the cruise?
If you rent an electric chair for your Dad for now, then you will have it for the cruise and he will be used to it when he gets his own. Rent the same style as he is ordering. Let him see how great it is. :thumbsup2
Kids who have electric chairs talk about "going for a walk" with their friends or "going outside to run around".
It is a mind set. His ego is in the way, but once he experiences the freedom, he may be a lot better about it.

Excellent point! The castle, was she married or not? If not, then it is Prince Charming's Castle.
In which case that means .... The castle in Disneyland does belong to Princess (Aurora) where as the castle in the MK belongs to the prince, or at best, a grabby social climbing domestic.

Jacki, those rumours don't actually say the EB would end in the UK. Andrew thinks it will be Barcelona, but of course we don't know yet.
Yeah, I've gotten myself twisted around on the 7/8 days, thinking they happened as an extension of the TA (which Andrew first implied was going to happen), not as the 'go between' for Med/Baltic.

Ah, have you ever seen Cinderella or Belle portrayed post marriage? I think not. Therefore, it is presumptuous to bestow them with the title of princess.
Now if they want to introduce them as:
Princess Snow While
Princess Aurora
Princess Arial
Princess Jasmine
Miss Belle
Miss Cinderella
That would be acceptable, as would a "Social Climber Character Breakfast."
Do not feel discouraged. Aladdin is never portrayed post marriage either. He is, as we all know an impostor. It would be acceptable to introduce them as Princess Jasmine and Mr. Aladdin... the counter-jumper.
HollyTyler

Oh, I can't the DVD player isn't working (which I discovered after renting two movies last night). :sad2:

Comcast update:
I was assured that the installer would be back here at 2PM. So far, no one has shown up. I just got off the phone with Comcast.
This seems to me like an extraordinary way to treat a new customer. Needless to say I am royally PO'd.
I am supposed to receive a call within the hour.
Well I was just on the telephone with DirecTV for about an hour and a half because John has no signal on his TV and he's not very happy right now. After being on hold with DirecTV for over 30 minutes, they transferred me to the protection plan service dept. and I held again for about 30 minutes and then when it rang through to the tech desk they hung up on me and I had to do it all again. It's almost 3 hours later and I now have a service tech scheduled to be here on Friday when we are not going to be home. I was informed that I need to call the outside installation company on Monday and see if I could move the appointment up or else I have to cancel and wait until I get back from vacation. It's no way to do business. The worst of it is that John will probably have no television until we get back. Now he's GRUMPY!
I offered to share my TV but he just mumbled something incoherient. We don't watch the same things at all so it's a problem.
To compensate me for my time today, DirecTV gave me $5 off my bill for the next year. Woopie! I guess they think that my time is only worth $5 a month.

I owe everything to the dear old Beeb (BBC for the Yanks).
When I was attending a formal dinner party in Lisbon, was I shaken because I had in front of me, more silverware than I had ever seen in my life? Did I tremble at the fish knife? No! I just said to myself, "What would Lord Bellamy do?"
No one knew had a clue that I was a social climbing counter-jumper from Brooklyn.
"Oh, and where did you go to school?"
"The Lincoln School in Brighton. Terribly old and respectable." No one need know that it was Abraham Lincoln High School, in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

So, here's my question ... next time I'm in WDW, or on a cruise, should I go up to Cinderella and say, "Madam you are fraud! How dare you go about parading yourself as a princess, and wantonly deceiving these other maidens of true royal blood!"
Does one expose an impostor or let them slide by?

Bless his heart! Good for him!
One year, when I was teaching, I decided to learn calligraphy. I took a class from a woman in her home with a few other people. I had this huge "Aha" moment as I was struggling to learn to write the letters and needed to have my alphabet in front of me all the time to refer to--this was exactly the way it felt to be a Kindergardener or first grader learning to write! It was a very powerful experience for me--and I'd already been teaching 20 years at that time and had taught writing to dozens of kids. At that moment I realized just how hard it is. My hand would cramp up, I'd leave letters out of words, words out of sentences, and it was SO laborious! I've never forgotten it!

You have the heart of a rebellious teenage girl. In your struggle to assert your independence, don't forget all your family does for you. You might have materialistic tendencies. It wouldn't hurt to take stock of your possessions and give all the things you no longer use to Goodwill. Everyone finds your youthful, innocent good looks attractive, but remember that you have a mind (or at least a voice), too. ok, here is the story.
It was a long day we got to the track at 1:30...
...The sad part is that we have made friends with the non cheaters at our club and would miss them if we left. But some of those friends are also leaving and going to Infineon also.
Nan, for many years I ran a home reading program at my school and it was bad enough the way parents cheated for their kids to make their goals; but what was WORSE were the parents who would storm the principal's office to insist that their child be allowed to attend the end of the year party when they hadn't done the required work to earn it! AND...the principal would side with them and overrule me!!!!:scared1: :scared1: It got so bad that eventually he canned the home reading program because he didn't want to stand up to these pushy parents! He was such a spineless worm....
And while we're on the subject of princesses, there was great debate between Jackie, Cheri and I while we were in DL as to the "truth" about Disney princesses.
I contend that some of these so called "princesses" are nothing but class-jumping impostors.
Let's look at the facts, shall we?.....

I need to have a word with my social reporting friend, IAN!!! I called to alert you of the news and asked you to spin a tale of wonder and fancyment, as I had to shop for the party, but nooooooo you don't listen to your cell on the weekend (unless people are meeting you for muffins ::yes::)
It was a great recovery from cheater weekend (as I will call it for all of history)

I would say colder and more chance of it being rough. I know when I was looking into the QM2 Transatlantics for next year the regulars said you don't need a balcony or shorts and tees!!!(Well perhaps once you get to Tenerife)
I suddenly got a mental picture of old folks in heavy coats and hats, wrapped up in blankets in deck chairs!:rotfl:
And those of us who were good little girls who loved school but grew up to be Mommies of boys who had trouble sitting still, LOVED teachers like you!! :thumbsup2
Jan ::yes::
Thanks!:lovestruc
Here you go... which Princess are you???
I ended up being Belle... maybe I like tall hairy guys... ;)

What a surprise!!
You're Ariel!
You are totally in love with the sea and would do well with a man who also loves the outdoors.

I know that exact family...:lmao: :lmao: When Wilson was in 1st grade he was too lazy to write down the books he was reading, he read like a fiend and couldn't be bothered. There was one kid that turned in his sheets of 100 books sometimes 5 in one week, just to get the pizza prize. So stupid :sad2: My friend told me not to worry, Wilson could read and the other kid couldn't ::yes::

To compensate me for my time today, DirecTV gave me $5 off my bill for the next year. Woopie! I guess they think that my time is only worth $5 a month.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I'm back in the land of the dark and unenlightened......all four tv's have no signal for the past 2 hours. I'm missing the emmy awards. Tomorrow is the season opener of Heros. Why now? I'm leaving for vacation in three days and I have many other things to do. I'm so PO'd too!!!
The first night my friend and I were at our motel in FL last month we had no TV, no internet service and no cell phone signal!:scared1: :scared1: What a weird feeling that was!
I ordered some professional prints from Smugmug of the wedding.
I received an email that they have been shipped.
I suppose I can say, "Someday my prints will come."

You could try!!! I will stand at a distance and watch you being carted away!!!:lmao:
But I'm not ready for a new thread :sad1: I'm just getting further and further behind :sad2:
I do want to say hi to everyone before we all say goodbye to this thread :grouphug: I think of everyone here often, even if I don't get a chance to post too often anymore.
Kathe
Hi Kathe. So lovely to see you.
I'm undecided, too.
The new rumours with dates have really messed up a lot of people's plans.
 Thanks Cheri. Sometimes I just wish time would stand still...not so much because I love where I am in life at this moment, but just to give me a moment to catch up and take a breath!
I am so thankful that I (we!) at least have Tortola and the B2B to look forward to in 2009 :thumbsup2

I've been reading some of the pages I missed. Good thing I went back! I would've hated to miss finding out what Sarah Palin would have named me:
Cheri May, if you were born to Sarah Palin, your name would be:

Morning Marilyn.
Couldn't sleep cuz I was up watching the Emmy's (several of my friends won tonight) Thought I'd catch up and...
Excuse Me, were you people spinning too long on the tea cups?
Ask yourself whether they should be a real princess or merely a cheap social climbing tart.
.
There is an entire series of Princess Stories videos and a long running TV series on Disney Channel to include Jasmine, Ariel and Belle - after they are married! And there are 2 extra movies Cinderella 2 & 3 about her when she is a princess in the castle... and a little play on the Disney Magic called Twice Charmed.
By this measure of social climbing verses bloodline, then Princess Diana would not have been a princess either. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
But she like Billy in Scruples the very fun a 1978 novel by Judith Krantz. (From wikipedia: The novel details the life story of protagonist Wilhelmina Hunnewell Winthrop as she goes from being a fat "poor relation" of an aristocratic Boston Brahman family to a thin, stylish woman who is left a vast fortune by the death of her elderly husband.) lead many of us who grew up with no hope to believe that anyone can grow up to feel like a princess. I began like Cinderella and married a prince (well that's what he told me, so I believed him!) Although our castle is a fixer upper!!!!
You silly tea spinners you may as well argue that Tinkerbell is a princess if you're going to bring Mary and Alice into the debate. That's just crazy talk!
Well now you have the facts from an expert.
I think I can safely consider myself an expert, given the sheer number of BBC costume dramas I've watched.
.
So, that's how you qualify it? You may end up with a new reality show.
Me thinks you've been watching too many episodes of Masterpiece Theater.... ;)
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Ian... you forgot Nala... She was BROUGHT up to be queen some day... and I think that was a true love match... from birth, and you know... Ok... so the women were meant to hunt... does that make them nothing more than professional Jungle grocery shoppers???
An excellent point Nala, does become queen, but is a princess by birth.
How about Pocahontas?
Princess Atta??? (Bugs Life... ) (I know... that's Pixar...)
Giselle??? Nope.. she's another wannabe... :sad2:
& I know... Tink's just a pixie... :tinker:
Atta, Atta, Atta :cutie:
Then again... There is ALWAYS Princess Minnie!!!!
(no arguments Ian...;) ) She runs the place... :flower3:

You're Belle!
You are a true bookworm and dream of a life better than the simple, quiet one you lead now. Your good looks can attract the town jerks, but you manage to ignore them most of the time. Sometimes you feel like you're surrounded by idiots. So what are you waiting for? You don't need your father to be kidnapped to get out and see the world. Although you can be stubborn, you're also very compassionate and see beyond people's façades.

Was that you? I was in the basement and heard my cell phone go off. I was dealing with the cable guy at the time. I assumed that it was a wrong number.
I should probably give you our land line number. Since nobody ever calls me on my cell (unless a special event where we're away), I tend to not pay attention when it rings.
When I'm in Chicago, 100% of the incoming calls on my cell are wrong numbers.

Yes. Snow White is a princess. At birth, her mother the real queen named her Princess Snow White.
Not like that cheap pretender Ella.

Ah, but every time they appear, it is in a pre-marriage state, before they are Mrs. Prince Charming or Mrs. Prince Adam.
Ergo, since they have not yet married, they are not yet princesses.
Diana was not a princess before she married Charles (though she was a Lady). Afterwards, she was a princess and an HRH to boot.
However, we have clear evidence that there was a marriage to Charles and that the marriage was consummated.

Happy First Day of Autumn!
Hard to believe that fall is already her!
(That's autumn for our UK friends, since we here in the US use the purer Anglo Elizabethan word for the season, rather than trying to ape the French.)

Now, Diana was supposed to only be called Princess Charles because she was only a Princess by marriage!!! It is just the popular press/common folk who kept calling her Princess Diana.
