I posted this over in Disney Restraunts but thought I'd put it here since the crew has discussed the T-Rex a bit....

I saw on the website for Disney that T-Rex would be opening on the 14th. Well, we'll be in town Oct. 9-13th, so I looked up T-Rex's website & emailed them about when their opening would be, since we would be leaving a day early on this. Maybe we could get in a lunch if they opened early?

I got this response. Hope it helps w' all y'alls planning! ;)

"Thank you for your inquiry into the new T-REX Orlando! At this time our restaurant is scheduled to open in mid October of 2008 (right now the construction schedule looks like somewhere towards the end of the 3rd week in October but this could change). We will be on a walk-in basis only until 2009 and a date for accepting reservations has not been determined yet. You may keep checking our website at anytime for updates on our opening. If you are in the Disney area and are looking for a WILD time, call one of our Rainforest Café properties for a priority seating. We have one located at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park which you can reach at 407-938-9100 and one at Downtown Disney Marketplace (a block away from our new T-Rex site) which can be reached at 407-827-8500.

Thank you again for your e-mail and we look forward to your visit!"

According to the DIS T-Rex is scheduled to open on October 14th. I'm not sure if that is official from the T-Rex folks or not.

I also understand that ADRs will not be accepted until January. The time between October and January only walk-ups will be accepted.

Is Rain forest on the dining plan? That might be a good barometer

I have heard that eventually it will be included in the dining plan. I don't know if that will start right away though

I wonder if they'll accept Rainforest's Safari card or offer a T-Rex card.

I just got one of these and was told it would be accepted at T-Rex also.

Will there be a gong that gets banged when one walks in?

Since Rainforest isn't on the DDP I would doubt that T-Rex would be. Not sure about the card since it is a "Safari" club card.

Just found this on the Safari Club portion of the RC site...

"10% off entrees excluding alcohol, tax & gratuity for you and up to three of your guests or a free Chef's appetizer of the day with the purchase of an adult entree at selected Landry's Restaurants nationwide every time you visit. (limit one appetizer per table per visit)

10% off of retail merchandise purchases for cardholder at selected Landry's Restaurants nationwide."

So maybe this applies to T-Rex too.

I'm going to be there a few days after T-Rex opens -- Oct. 19 - 26. I'm going to try my best to dine there and see what it's all about. Always up to a giant dino watching me eat my food :upsidedow . But I know that my DD will love it there.
