...would one have a better chance booking a studio at the 7 month window, rather than going for a 1 or 2 bedroom?

My understanding is that the studios book faster than the other room types (at least that is my experience for BWV). Could be wrong, though.
What resort are you thinking about? Maybe some of the owners of the other resorts have different opinions.

...so I guess Iwas thinking about all the other resorts where I only have the 7 month window. I had no trouble booking a 1 bedroom at the 7 month window for early March (this past March) at Vero but I'm sure with the popularity of Vero on the rise that might not be so easy next time. I was just wondering what other people's experiences were relating to a pattern of size vs. availability.

We booked 2 Preferred Studios at BWV for 3rd week of March(last month) right at the 7 month window in August 2001. This was the week before the Easter Week, a very busy time. But we could not get the Standard View.

Its my understanding that there are more 1BR units than studios at BWV. Don't know if this applies at other resorts as well

I would guess that you probably have a better chance of booking a studio or Inn room at VB. The hotel component adds a lot of Inn rooms to the mix. I think that with Vero you're fighting a couple of different aspects - the resort isn't sold out, so a good chunk of the inventory can't be booked by DVC members, and then there's the growing popularity (which I'm not sure if it really is, but it could be).
At Hilton Head, I recall that 2BR's are usually easier to book (more of 'em).
Standard view always seems to go first at BWV.
