Just back from the free dining from 8/25 to 9/1. We ate at Chef Mickey's for dinner and breakfast, 50's Prime Time-had the steak and it was sooo good, Crystal Palace, Tusker House, Park Fare for dinner but the best character meal was at Cape Maye. The food was so good. I never would have thought I would eat asparagus for breakfast, but it hit the spot with eggs. A great variety of food and the character interaction was great.

Of course I overate at each buffet but isn't that what they are there for?

We like Cape May as well. Crystal Palace is probably our favorite for characters, but the Cape May layout seems a bit more intimate, and not so rushed (like at Crystal Palace and others).

Thanks for posting the review about Cape May, we booked DS's 11th bday breakfast there and were a little unsure. Good to hear good things about it.

We've got a Cape May breakfast ressie - who was there when you all visited?

We have a ressie for Cape May our first breakfast! (I hope DS~10 will enjoy it!) I'm just looking forward to the food! (why else have I been on a diet for the past 2 months? LOL!)

Which characters are there at Cape May? Is it family style or buffet? Wonder if we should do THAT on our last day instead fo Chef Mickey? Do they do anything fun there with the kids aside from meet the characters??

Cape Maye has Chip, Dale, Minnie and Goofy dressed up in bathing suits. It is a buffet with a wide variety of foods. It's just eating and the characters come to the table. We always end begin and end our eating at Chef Mickey's-would I sway from it just 1 time?? That's a tough call. My DS who loves Chip and Dale would say yes, the rest of us, though would probably choose Chef Mickey's just because of the Fab Five.

Do you prefer Chef Mickey for breakfast or dinner?

We don't have a preference for Chef Mickey's for dinner or breakfast. Both have been good food and interaction.

When we went in '06 we hit most of the character meals and our favorite, me (55) and DS-16 was CP and Cape May for breakfast. We liked CM as well (breakfast). I am currently planning our '09 trip and I am taking my niece (29) and her two children who will be 4 and 6 months old. So I have to think "little" ones! I am planning on the Mickey's Backyard BBQ, which we have never tried before.

Where is Cape Maye? I never even saw that one as a possibility!

Of course, if it is not on the DDP, I wouldn't have looked at it.

We were at Cape May Cafe September 3 for the character breakfast. It overtook Chef Mickey's on our list, but it will never bypass Crystal Palace. I though Cape May was okay...but I preferred the choices at the Crystal Palace (Dh really liked the grits at the Cape May Cafe).

Cape May is over at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort. It is on the DDP.

Not sure if they still do it or not but when we went they covered the tables with white paper and had crayons for the kids to draw. We had a late breakfast and Chip or Dale sat and colored with the kids. It was wonderful.

Yes the tables are covered in white paper. Minnie even autographed the table for us. I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the reminder.

We love Cape May for breakfast...we've eaten there 3 times so far with DS7 & DS5. Yummy food and it never has seemed too crowded. We're not early eaters, so that may have something to do with it. But it just seemed less hectic than, say, CP.
