Yet another tipping question

On our trip later this month (:goodvibes) we'll have some meals just me and DH and some with friends, both on and off the dining plan. Many times we'll have over 6 so we'll hit the auto 18% gratuity. Will the tip be calculated as one total for the whole table or will it be divided appropriately on each couple's bill?

If you have more than 6 at your table and are paying separately, each separate check will have an 18% tip added.
