Stayed 2 nts at SSR this past weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. It is a very nice resort with a great pool. Rooms were spotless, well-decorated and the walk to DTD was very convenient and pleasant. Our room was ready for check-in when we arrived at 1pm. Bell services were very helpful and the counter food restaurant (Artists's Palette) was very good. Bus service was prompt and frequent. We stayed in Congress Park with a view of DTD. If I stayed again, I would pick the Springs just so we could be close to the main pool & lobby area. The only downside to this resort, for us, was how huge it is. I generally prefer a more intimate resort. But it is a lovely option when our home resorts are not available.

Thanks for posting a positive review. I suspect the majority of DVC'ers have positive experiences but don't post - the posts that get all the attention are the complaints. We are excited about our first DVC trip down to SSR next month!

My DD and I just got back from SSR yesterday. We are new to DVC and this was our first visit home. Pretrip I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews but we LOVED it. Except for a 40 minute wait time for a bus on Saturday (I'm not complaining as the rest of the bus waits were less then 5 minutes) the vacation was perfect. :yay:

We were in the Grandstand section in the 9400 building and I totally enjoyed sitting on our balcony in the morning with my cup of coffee overlooking the golf course. Yes, the resort is big but it is not that big as compared to other resorts. On Monday morning I took a leisurely walk from one end to the other without a sweat. I am going in May for 11 days with my DS and pretrip thought that I would switch at the 7 month mark but no way. SSR is "home" for us and I can't wait to go back! :)

Take lots of photos and please post them! There seems to be few recent photos of this resort compared to all of the others.

Goofys apprentice, here's another Ontarian headed there for March - 11-21st. We have 2 dd's - 9 and 12 who will be looking forbuddies around the pool!

Glad you enjoyed SSR! We are going back for our 4th time this month. It has its own special qualities that I enjoy when we are there. And I agree the pool is great! It is my 7 year old's favorite!

I LOVE SSR!

We are owners at SSR but have only stayed there once. Last year we stayed at OKW and I was so disappointed. I much preferred SSR - maybe because it was newer, but alsob/c I loved Artists Palette as opposed to the food available at OKW.

The year before that we stayed at BCV and while the proximity to Epcot was great I still much prefer the outdoor entrances to SSR. The long hallways and elevator rides just did not cut it for me at BCV. That and sharing a bus or boat with the BW, Swan, and Dolphin made every trip take forever....

This trip, provided IKE stays away, we will also try BWV and VWL so now I get to see if I have a new favorite. We'll see. .

I am a PROUD SSR OWNER. We have stayed twice since joining DVC Jan. 07 and have another stay planned in Nov. I am always happy staying there and have had wonderful stays there. Love the fact that it is soooooooooo close to DTD too. We loved staying in the Grand Stand area.....first for busses going and coming and close to the main bldg. and pool. I hope you stay again soon. ;) I can't wait til Nov. 20th to be back HOME!!!!

We love SSR!

There are "a vocal few" who don't like or understand the theming. The resort is so beautiful, relaxing and quiet, we truly feel that we are on vacation.

I know you do!! I really want to stay here, I am seriously thinking of pulling a "Dave" and slipping the CM's a little something when I go to check in! Maybe I can get that DTD view or Grandstand view yet! :lmao:

Thanks for the review! I've been browsing through pictures of SSR online trying to decide where we might want to stay in December 2009, and it's a beautiful resort. We're thinking of giving it a try as long as it's available at the 7 month window.

We put our view/room request in when we make our reservations. We have gotten our requests every time. Except once we forgot to call with our request, we each thought the other did. When we checked in, we were assigned Carousel :scared1: ! This was for July 4th weekend trip. Well, the CM worked the system for us and found a room in the Grand Stand section.....whew! The only bad thing, we had to wait 4 hours for mousekeeping to tidy it up!

Hey all the resorts offer something unique. There are pluses and minuses to all of them.
