This is my 2nd attempt at a TR the last one 2 yrs ago when we got married out their never got finished!! (head hung in shame!)
So here i go
INTRO
Me - Tracey 42
DH - Gary - 42
DD - Leanne 13 (going on 19!!)

My mum & dad also came they flew out 2 days before us, but were coming home a week before us (we did 3 weeks they did 2)

We boooked 15 nights as WDW POP Century Resort followed by 5 nights at Universals Royal Pacific :lovestruc

Sunday 3rd August

Planned a lazy morning, just needed to do online checkin & drop cat off at cattery & leaving for airport journey about 12 pm (staying overnight at Radisson SAS Manchester airport)
awake at 7.30am just too excited to sleep!!
Leanne comes into the bedroom crying saying she has earache :scared1:
I go into panic mode!! we end up at the emergency Dr's who said it was an ear infection & gave her antibiotics.
Crisis over.....
I hate flying & have to wear my gold cross & Mickey watch on the plane (weird i know!!)
I get my watch out - that i had checked the week before & the battery is dead
I start panic mode again saying i cant go on a plane with a 'dead' watch & i need batteries!! Remember this is a Sunday..after spending ages searching for somewhere to get a watch battery the Co-Op finally became my saviour!!!
BUT it is now 11.30am & we still havnt checked in online or got the cat off!!!
I laugh off my mini dramas joking to Gary that its his turn to have something go wrong - everything happens in 3's right??.....RIGHT.....

...I finally get sat down at the computer to do the online chech in - which i've never done before, everything seems to go ok until the names come up - no Gary...WHERES GARY!!!:scared1:
I call up VA to tell them my husband isnt on the flight, turns out to be a simple thing but i felt sick at the time!!!
so thats number 3: DD's ear, my watch & DH's flight
Please no more omens!!!!

We finally set off at about 2pm, Gary plugs in his latest new toy - a SAT Nav,
Well this thing took us all over the place!! down tiny country roads, through housing estates but we eventually got to the Radisson about 3.30pm
We check in & go to find our room - number 662, Oriental room with runway view (why oh why do you ask did someone who hates flying book a runway view...what can i say - a moment of madness!)
The hotel & room are very nice, but not as ''posh'' as i expected!!
Perfect location though :)

Once settled we head down to the runway cafe for dinner. I had the salmon with rosmary potatoes & red peppers - this was ok, the oil on it was a bit greasy - cost £13
Gary had Hawain pizza £10
& Leanne had the kids pizza for £3.75
& a side of fries £3.50 (notice the American lingo ''fries'' hee hee)

Ok the next omen came along here - DD broke the salt shaker - salt all over the table :scared1:
I made everyone throw some over both shoulders & swear (great parenting eh!!)
One bottle of magners & a gin & tonic later i had calmed down a little.
The meals & drinks came to about £50 ouch!!
Off to bed & a little prayer that everything would go smoothly now!!!.....

little did i know about USA medical expenses, mild concussion, Fay & delays!!!!

I thought your bad luck was probably over until you spilled that salt! Oh dear. All that foreshadowing of trouble to come. Bless your heart if you had to pay a medical bill while here in the US. It's always shocking to us and we should be used it.

I know exactly how you felt. Another very nervous flyer here and every little thing seems to be some sort of omen.

In a strange kind of way I too would like the runway view as it is re-assuring if you know what I mean.

Not an ideal start when you are stressed out with the preparation for the holiday. I love the SAS Radisson, so handy for Terminal 2 and also love having a runway view.
