Looks good Rob, it is fun to plan ahead.
-We are doing AKV 1BR value Jan4-10. We are going to add on at AKV so if we get developer points we will be doing a week at SSR.
-A wedding in May in Houstin Tx
-Possibly a wedding in May at Disney:banana:
-Beach trip at Ocean City, NJ June 20-27
-Hawaii in October for our 10th anniversary.
-Hopefully disney in December (never been to MVMCP) maybe with Dev Points.
Wow....that seems like a lot of vacations....I think I will have to do some OT at work to pay for all of it;)

Hopefully, HH in second week of June! This will be my 3rd attempt for HH, unfortunately it's not my home resort so I have to wait till Nov to book.
Wish me luck!
Then in August, 4 days at OKW (Favorite FLA Resort)

We are planning 2-3 nights at AKV (just added on there) and 7-8 night at BCV IF WE CAN THEM.....next June or July. Still on the fence about June vs. July. Other than that....a short weekend trip to Hershey PA next spring maybe. :goodvibes We have a dd graduating so a busy year and summer. We are happy to be able to get away for 9-10 days next summer.

A good fun thread!
We are going to SSR Dec 27 thru Jan 4th...A great way to start the year!
Our spring schedule is wide open. Our DD is graduating from HS and too many things going on to plan a trip. If a weekend opens up, we may get away.
June we are going to Westin St John for DD's graduation.
Third week in July we are going to Vegas for a long weekend, to celebrate our friends 25th anniversary.
August we are going to Atlantis.
Sometime in the fall, we will go to the Food and Wine Festival.
And we will end the year at WDW for New Years, like the past 4 years!

Sounds like some great plans everyone!
We won't be making as many trips as others but we do have one nice long trip planned for June. Our June trip will be:
May 30 - June 1: Universal RPH (gasp  )
June 1 - June 6: AKV Kidani 1BR savanna view
June 6 - June 11: BCV 1BR (we hope)
June 11 - June 13: North Carolina for some gem hunting
We will probably do a week of camping in a local state park as well. We are thinking of possibly doing a few days around Christmas at WDW but I'm kind of doubtful that it will happen in 2009 (oh well - just more points to bank for 2010!) With kids in school, it is getting harder and harder to get away so those 2 week trips are probably going to be a yearly thing for 10 - 12 years!

imo, a great way to spend the pricey weekends:)
we're up in the air this year since DH moved to new dept @ work & won't know what vacation dates he'll get until this Nov/Dec...guess they don't know about the 11 month window:rolleyes:
Have last week in June @ WL & last week in July @ BW booked, considering the week before Xmas; since it's one of the weeks his employer always closes down:confused3 or will book a cruise for end of '09 beginning of '10
isn't it nice to dream:cloud9:

Just my husband and me at SSR May 1-10 (already booked). :flower3:
Our daughter is using our VWL points for her honeymoon in October.
My husband and I will be returning Dec. 3-12 with a split stay VWL/SSR. :santa:
Our son is currently stationed with the US Army in Hawaii. His unit has been notified they will be deploying to Iraq after the first of the year. So...a trip to Hawaii may be in our future, as well.

Only one Disney trip, but a busy year for us.
Feb 7-14 - Caribbean Cruise aboard Norwegian with a group of lawyer friends - still room for more lawyer types in the group if anyone is interested! :thumbsup2
June 10-14 - Nashville for the CMA Fest and our law school annual dinner
July 25-August 1 - AKV Concierge ! :cool1: 10th Anniversary Trip! Finally - a WDW Trip!
That should about do it for the year.

As far as Disney trips go, here's what we're hoping to do in 2009:
--Quick trip in March at the Dolphin (hooray for Starwood points!)
--Annual week-long December trip - we haven't decided where we want to stay yet, but we're toying with a split stay on points between the GF and a studio at SSR, though trying out Kidani may tempt me too much, LOL!
--DH doesn't know, but I'm hoping I can surprise him with a quick trip in November for his 30th birthday. It would be a trip filled with his favorites. We would likely stay at the Yacht Club on cash so he could try Stormalong Bay. Plus, it would be nice to sample the Food & Wine Festival.

November 2009 we will be at the AKL for my youngest daughters 21st birthday. Should be about 12 in our party with 4 of us in our 40's and eight girls between the ages of 20-22 :scared1: I think we'll need a vacation after our vacation.
We also have a quick trip at SSR this December (7 days) with some friends of ours here in Idaho.
No other trips in the works for us because we're building a cabin in eastern Oregon and that should take up any off time we have next summer.:thumbsup2

We plan to be back at VWL for a couple of weeks in October 2009.
It'll be our first trip for F&W as well as MNSSHP. We're really looking forward to it!

We've got one trip booked, and we may do up to three others. (We also visit family in Dallas and San Antonio for long weekends fairly often, which doesn't exactly count as a vacation! Even when we do Sea World...)
Two Disney trips planned
January 20 - 25 SSR on developer points, may add one more night
October ??? - probably going to do BWV for F & W; may do split stay at AKV
We may also do a cruise sometime next year. We love cruises and we didn't do one this year (we bought DVC instead), so we're definitely considering it. However, since we just bought one DVC contract and are in the process of doing a resale add on, we may need to use points for all our vacations next year...
We're also hoping to adopt in the next year, so we will almost certainly have to travel for that. (I can only hope!) Not precisely a vacation, but it will almost certainly involve travel for several days.

Nov 2009 is our extended family trip, so far we have 18 of us booked on the Nov 15 Wonder cruise. Some of us will spend the week prior to the cruise at AKV and others will just do a day or two at WDW. We might have another 10 or so joining us before it's over with.

We have 2 exciting events coming up in 2009.
1. Our DD is getting married in July and we're giving her and her future DH a
honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas using DVC points. :bride:
2. DH and my 25th anniversary is also in July and we're going on a 7 night
Disney Eastern Caribbean cruise in early August (after the wedding!) :lovestruc

this may make anyone pull their hair out!!
We have at least 3 scenerios and we are past 7 month for one and hitting 11 month for the others!
My DMIL has some plane tickets she needs to use, so, we are patiently :rolleyes1 waiting to see if P&PP is coming back in 2009. If it is, we may go for a few days in March while I'm on spring break (gotta love grad school!)
If there isn't P&PP, then my DMIL said she may treat us to a few days on my "semester break" (a whole week!) in May.
However, we have invited our friends to join us for a trip next summer and we are waiting to hear from them for sure because if they do come with us, we may scrap the trip with DMIL, however, they keep wavering and I don't want to take any chances!! Make or move I always say!! :lmao:
If none of the above works out, we are planning on a 10-12 day trip in Oct. for food and wine and MNSSHP as I will have graduated in August and will be patiently waiting on my new licensure so we figured that would be a good time to go.
However, DH says we may take a short trip right after graduation in August to celebrate that we made it through grad school! Depending on airfare of course!
I know I'm going at least once in 2009! How many and when remains TBD!! :yay:

Late Feb-early March: 8 days visiting Disneyland staying 5 of those nights at the Disneyland Hotel.
Late November: stays at GF(one night) a 4 day DCL cruise, Dsis and DBIL are renewing their vows on the Wonder, followed by 4 nights at AKV in time to see the X-mas decorations and MVMCP!

I was just thinking through our 2009 plans and had a :scared1: moment. I can't believe we were able to plan all of this. Thanks goodness for DVC. Here is what we have planned so far.
Jan - Ice climbing trip over MLK weekend in upstate NY.
Feb. - DW & DD off to Austria for some skiing with BIL & SIL. (Using airline vouchers we got this past year.)
Mar. - BIL, nephew (18 months), DS4 and I at BCV for 5 nights
Apr. - Either VB or HHI, depending on what GV we can get (most likely HHI).
Jun. - DW, DD, DS head off to Sweden for the summer (DW is swedish and will stay with sister).
Jul. - I head to Sweden for BIL & SIL wedding and then off to Austria for our post-wedding trip with BIL, SIL, & nephew. Using points in Austria. (Oh yeah, this is only a post wedding trip. They are doing a formal honeymoon in Dec).
Aug - Dec. - Work to pay for above trips.
Dec. - Head to Colorado (skiing) or Savannah (parents) for Xmas.
All of this is only possible due to DVC. We are using points for most of these trips. And the ones we are not are either HEAVILY discounted due to relatives or we are staying WITH relatives. Oh and also to the fact that my company gives out a ridiculous amount of vacation time.

DVC Plans 2009 - I will soon be booking AKV (hopefully concierge) for 5 nights (6 nights if I have to get a SV villa) in August 2009 with a 4 night stay at VB to finish the trip in a relaxing way. I can't book the VB portion until January '09 (7 months). We will have one 9 or 10 night DVC trip in 2009.
Non-DVC Plans 2009 - Planning a trip to Baltimore/Washington DC in June (?) when the Red Sox play the Orioles. We went this year for a short trip (not enough time to see DC) and loved it. Hoping to stay at least 4 or 5 nights in the Inner Harbor area.

January 27-31 in a 1 bedroom at OKW for just the 2 of us.
May 5-12 in a 1 bedroom at OKW for just the 2 of us.
Planning to do the first two weeks of December also in a 1 bedroom and split the time between OKW and AKV concierge if we can get it.

I think we might be on same 7 night DCL to Eastern Caribbean w/Tortola as SoCalDCLfan!! If I can get the previous week off of work as well, we will also do a week at WDW to utilize the last of our Annual Passes as they expire 8/17. :sad1:
If I can't get that second week off, my plan is another week at WDW at either Easter, 3rd week of June after DS gets out of school or the week prior to Christmas. Most likely it will be the week before Christmas. I might even decide to bank for 2010 and go someplace else for a week..perhaps Cancun.

We're looking at 5th or 6th thru 11 or 12th of December 09 right now. These exact dates really depend on the amount of guests we end up bringing along. Right now we're looking at two 2BRs or 4 or 5 Studios for comfort reasons (looks like we'll have between 12-16 people going who will want their own space and sleeping areas and will want to do separate things in the parks) and while we love SSR a ton, my DH and I would love to try any of the other resorts. We're not sure though that we'll be lucky enough to get anything at anywhere other than SSR for Dec. due to DVC popularity. We've never been at Christmas time and we're excited. We skipped a May trip because we both wanted to try the winter months for a change and neither of us can really hold out until Feb. 2010 as we had originally planned! (Sigh) so we agreed today December 09 it is!!!!

I can't believe we have so many trips so far for 2009! I am a teacher, so trips are limited to normal school vacations.
January 2009--quick weekend for two nights at local water park because I have a 4-day weekend over the King holiday.:yay:
March 2009--I have a different Spring Break than my kids, so I doubt we will be going anywhere. It does mean that I can play stay-at-home mom--yea!:rainbow:
July 2009--We always go to a relative's cottage in Michigan for one week.:cool1:
August 11-18, 2009--Going "Home" for the first time! Spending 7 glorious nights in 1-bedroom, Savannah View, at Kidani Village. I do love this thread. I am a travel nurse so I can get time off whenever I want, which is a nice perk. So far, I am going to BCV superbowl week 2009. Dh and I will be there this month from the 5-8th. I know it's not '09, but we are SO looking forward to our being alone for the first time in 5 years without kids.
We are expecting baby girl #3 in December and she will likely be going to WDW three times in her first year.
May- Have SSR booked in 1bd for 5 nights. Will try to change to 6n at BCV or VWL at the 7month mark just to try something new.
Will try for Kidani 1bd for 4 nights over Columbus day and MNSSHP with the kids.
In '10 I have a conference in Jan in Orlando. Will likely do a 2bd with my parents again for 6 nights at OKW. We did it this past Jan, and it worked out great. We loved all of the extra room at OKW with the extra people.

Trips already planned for 2009
Jan. - Weekend visit to family in Boston.
March - Girlfriends visit to WDW followed by AKV concierge with DH. It's my spring break!
May - All-family 3 part stay. First is BCV, then DCL family cruise, finally AKV Kidani village one day stay to check it out! This one will need some extra planning for me, school is still in session. I was going to do just an extra long weekend, but decided to try get subs and stay a week + instead. It does include Memorial day. We are too close to retirement, and our DGC are just too young to have them spend too much time in Disney without us!:goodvibes
August into September - European cruise and stay. I get to visit Poland, the birthplace of my grandparents.:goodvibes
Still to plan:
Spring weekend in the Smokies
Summertime in Cape May. Here's hoping the family can join me/us there for at least a week or two.
July or September WDW vsit
More trips to Boston and New Orleans to visit family
WDW December visit
December trip to Dollywood. Dollywood has great Christmas celebrations, it's a must do for us every year.
Whatever else I can think of!!!
Sigh, for us too, a VB less year, we used so many points there this year, but maybe we can fit something in on our December WDW trip.

We'll be going Sept 17th - 26th, 2009. It will encompass my son's 5th birthday (20th), my daughters 3rd birthday (technically the 27th..we'll celebrate early) and DW and my 10th wedding anniversary (23rd).
As part of the 10th anniversary, I'm putting together a surprise vow renewal.
Gonna be a BIG trip. :)
WOW, if that's not going to be a happy trip, then I don't know what is. Congratulations on 10 years and all the b-days!
Have a GREAT trip!

Right off the heels of 3 end of the year trips in 2008 (one for F&W, one for Halloween, and one for Christmas)...
in 2009 we are staying at the Grand Floridian RPC on points in Jan to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. :cloud9:
Spring/summer we're home improving and putting on a new roof, so no trips. :sad1:
...and then we are doing our annual F&W trip in Oct. 2009. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. It's shaping up to be a fun one. What's even MORE amusing is my wife is working to plan a birthday party for the kids while we're there.....and has no clue that I'm doing some planning of my own.
There WILL be a TR....though probably not a "pre-TR". My wife knows I post here, and while I double doubt she'll stumble across the surprise...I'm going to keep as many details as possible "close to the vest" as I can. Just in case.
I will say this: I talked to Disney's wedding planners...and they were just completely unable to do what I really wanted done...even if I offered them a premium price point. They offered other options but...they weren't as appealing as what I could put together on my own...but that's maybe a tale left untold, for now.
Suffice to say: Disney will never know what's going on, as I'll just arrange all the pieces seperately, on my own, but we'll get 90% of what I set out to do (because they DO all of it..just not necessarily as part of a wedding package)...and the other 10% will just be a little more private (it was always going to be pretty intimate....about 10 people, including our 3 kids) than I had originally envisioned. AND it'll be at least a thousand (and maybe a couple thousand) bucks cheaper than the less than optimal options I got from the wedding planners.
Wish me luck. If I manage to pull this off, it's gonna be a DOOZY.

Nice to hear that others find the same, sometimes.
Now, I'm not saying there weren't some great options. There were! But I had/have a very specific vision of what I want. Some of their package additions I don't need (for example, transportation and, well...we're DVC members so a minimum room booking for me is just a means to an end..all but 2 of the rooms would have gone unused). They wouldn't allow any "tradeoffs" on those elements. Some of the things I know Disney does, but they can't add as part of the wedding package. And some things they simply can't do, period, but I can approximate in our private space without any problem (and without Disney caring one bit...).
If my "vision" in any way matched up with their offerings, I'd jump at them in a second. They have a LOT of cool options....that's for sure...but they just couldn't accomdate us. I talked to the wedding planner, and explained my thought process, what I wanted, and after going over all the options, explained I thought I could get closer to what I wanted on my own. The planner actually LISTENED to me, to their credit, and agreed...even gave me some of the numbers I'd need to make contact to get some of the stuff done and made some cool suggestions I hadn't thought of.
It's going to make it a LOT more work for me, obviously....but I think it will be worth it in the end. And, at least at initial price out, it's going to be markedly less expensive. Seemingly worth my time on the LOW end of savings, remarkably worth my time if on the high end. :)

So far....
March - extended family trip, 10 of us, VWL's for first part, SSR GV for second, will be our niece's first trip
October - annual Food and Wine trip just the two of us, this is the year for our AP's so I don't want them to go to waste!
Maybe....
end of January - for 2008 we did a quick trip during the high school exam break, so far haven't planned anything but may try to arrange in Dec as a surprise. Last year we found availability so this year will depend on that and airfare. I assumed 2008 was a 'on-off' but heard my DH talking to someone about it last week so maybe he is thinking the same as me !

As of right now, we have a 1BR OKW March 15-20, 2009 for spring training. Other than that, no plans. Contemplating a short June trip for SWW, but that's not at all definite. No reservations made for that. And who knows if we'll go back in October next year. :confused3

I've looked at the DFTW stuff(though I won't bother calling for another 6 yrs as we want to do our 20th). From my talking to some of the gals who post on the wedding board, some of the planners are not very "imaginative" with locations for ceremonies or receptions. You really have to push to get them to come out with all the options as they like to "stick to the book".
DH saw where one of the girls had her ceremony at Epcot in the morning. He thinks that would be way cool. But you need to pony up at the min. $10,000 for a Wishes package. :scared1: Didn't spend that on the first(though came pretty close with our honeymoon though).

I am heading "home" for the first time with dd and my parents in May 2009 (Memorial Day weekend). DH will be down at WDW chaperoning the senior class trip. We have him listed as one of the room occupants though... that way he can get a key and use the pool away from the nutty seniors! Plus it's our first stay at AKV, he didn't want to miss out!
We are waiting to book for December 2009... mom and I are all set to take a day off from work and be on the phone first thing in the morning so we can get it booked. DH, dd and I are going with my parents (also DVC members) and are taking DH's whole family (both parents, three siblings, a husband and a child). So we're hoping to get a GV and a 2 bedroom. We're keeping our fingers crossed though because we know it's a popular time!

The franchise that I own a business with is having it's national meeting at CSR next Feb. I will be staying 5 nights at CSR then DW & DD are meeting me for a 5 night stay at VWL. I think it will be a great trip, one problem though is the national meeting is very busy and only have one night out to go to the park or some of the DTD or Boarwalk clubs. Knowing that I am close to the parks and I can't go for 4 days will be tough.

We are also planning on a trip to London & Paris next summer. We used to live in England when we were first married and want to go back and we promised DD we would take her to Europe. We plan on finishing the trip at Paris Disneyland.

We have April (Spring Break) booked at AKV. I've also given a honeymoon to friends for March @ AKV.
Right now, I've got a back-up ressie for the first of June at SSR - but I'm hoping :goodvibes to change the June trip to split trip AKV/VB/BCV.:goodvibes
I'm also going to try to get a sometime mid-late July trip at either VB or HHI. My dates are super flexible, so I have not bothered with an 11-month back-up ressie.
And although it's blasphemous - Right now, I'm planning to do at least a weekend at Gloria Estefan's new 5 star Vero Beach resort before moving to DVC - it's cheaper than paying member's cash and looks soooooooooooooooooo tempting.
(Actually, I'm trying to convince DH to take just me for our December anniversary :cloud9: ........I've got my eye on the special that includes a pitcher of Mojitos at check-in and breakfast................)

We had to choose between a long ski weekend in January or WDW. Since we did WDW last January we went for the ski trip this year as we can drive (flying is so expensive now) and it lets us save our points for summer. So, speaking of summer...nothing booked yet as it's too early and we haven't settled on an exact date (or place) but am planning on an extended family trip for mid-late August next summer for my parents 50th anniversary...not sure if we'll do WDW or try for VB...after this past week or two not sure if late Aug. at VB might be too much of a hurricane threat?!:confused3:scratchin

In late December, I will be on the phone trying to book a grand villa for a trip with the whole family, just after Thanksgiving.

Reading all these plans makes me wonder if any of you have signed up on Tripit.com. It has a feature where you can see who is traveling where so you'll know if your paths are going to cross at some time. Right now I'm connected to my family on it, but it might make sense for DVCers, too.

I'm a teacher so don't normally do vacations during the school year but this year is different. I broke my leg and arm during our last trip to Disney in June and ended up spending the rest of the week in the hospital. It was just a clumsy accident, not ride related. Sooo, we are going back the last week of January '09. Staying at BCV for that trip.
Then we are going again the last week of May (school will be out for us). I'm hoping we can stay at VWL but can't book until December.

Like, right now, a studio starts at 179.00 full retail rate. We paid close to 250 @ Vero per night with the cash discount last June. With the internet specials/packages, it gets cheaper. It's not much cheaper - but it would be a totally different experience.

1) VWL 2BR for Dec. 21-26 for DW, DS33, DD28 and myself. Plan to purchase AP's then for DW and myself.

June 2009- we are going somewhere, though not sure where yet -possibly Boston and Maine, Tennessee, Canada (Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick), the Carolinas - I am open to any suggestions! Most likely somewhere that we can drive in a reasonable amount of time (6-12 hours).
October 2009 - 5 days for the F&W Fest, and our 11th wedding anniversary - most likely BWV
I just started back to school for a masters degree, so I am working full time and going to school part time. It has really changed how DH and I usually travel. Our typical 7-10 day F&W trip has been cut in half (but we have to go to celebrate our anniversary at WDW - tradition!), and now our March trip will be my spring break! Yes, I am a 35 year old woman going on a spring break trip!

We'll be using out DVC points for 2 cruises on the Magic, one in March for the standard EC run and one in August with another family for the EC run to Tortola. In February we'll be down for Presidents Day weekend at the HGVC on International Drive, and we are looking at Memorial Day weekend at SSR using the developer points from a recent upgrade. Should be a fun year with DVC and DCL.:)

WOW!!!! That is awesome!!!:thumbsup2 Do you need any chaperones?:rotfl:
Not sure about chaperones, but I'm pretty sure I'll need liquid relaxation :drinking1 . All kidding aside, they are generally a great group of kids that have been in private christian school together since the age of four, most are on the schools baseball and basketball teams and have already been made their college choices. The trip was mine and DW's treat to all of them. The other parents loved the idea and actually voluntered to cover all the air fare.:thumbsup2

We're doing Dec '08 instead (making use of our AP's). It's going to be a long stretch between Dec '08 and whenever we decide to go in '10.
We may do DLR though, at some point in the gap.
ETA: I noticed in reading the thread lots of you have listed other fun things besides Disney trips! It's interesting to see where all else everyone likes to visit. We may do some other, more local things, but haven't planned ahead yet as we may be moving next year.

2008's vacations were many and unfortunately expensive (Vegas in March, WDW in July at POR, New England in August, and a month long trip to Africa for safari)
So we've agreed to NOT cross an ocean in 2009.
WDW 1/24-31, BCV 1 bdrm (first time staying DVC)
3-4 days in Vegas in March (traditional b-day gift to DH)
a week at WDW in July (just the girls)
10 days Boston/ Maine/New Brunswick in August
and if we join DVC in January as I am planning, maybe WDW first week December!

No plans yet but what I would really like to do is get an OKW GV from Tuesday before Thanksgiving thru the following week. DH had a stroke Memorial Day Weekend and we had to cancel our Oct '08 trip. I think he'd be recovered enough by Nov 09 to handle the trip, but I don't think he'll agree to it at 11 months out and I know I won't be able to get the GV after that.
So..........I'll settle for 2010 for the big family trip and hopefully a more quiet trip for the two of us early 12/09.

9 nights @ OKW 1BR (3/22 - 3/30)---this is already booked
10 nights @ HHI 2BR (Sept-sometime around Labor Day)
I am thinking about trying to squeeze in a DCL excursion somewhere next year but not sure...maybe a members cruise if they have one in 2009.
This is a great thread and I had fun reading everyone's plans...sounds like 2009 is going to be a great year for many of you!!

Booked New years Eve-5th at SSR using our developer points. Staying over Christmas with my parents nearby. I love 'em and all, but both my kids & I will need the vacation after that. :rotfl: This is SSR's chance to shine and show me what the attraction is there. :)
Probably June after school is out for 7-10 days. Son has always wanted to see Star Wars weekends and I'd love to get him there while he's still young & willing to participate :)
I'm still waiting on my pin for the members website, but we need to book through Member services? No online booking function as of yet?

It's another multi-trip year for us! We've done twice in one year back in 2007 and in 2009 we are going in January for the marathon weekend (4 nights). Which will also be our first time at the BCV (1-bed)! :cool1: And then my DH and I are going in May for 6 nights in a 1-bed at SSR for our 10th anniversary! We honeymooned at WDW (FW cabin).
I'm looking forward to the May trip w/o kids! I love 'em to death, but I'm really looking forward to the freedom we'll have. Of course we'll have to make it up to them with a ton of souvenirs, but I love shopping at Disney! :) :rotfl:

We were in WDW and DCL in Feb of 08 and are going back in Feb 09 despite having decided to wait until the kids are older for the second round. But after them literally crying and me shedding a few tears on our way out of MK, I begged DH to go back.
We are from CA but making the trek:
6 nights in Saratoga Springs
3 Night Cruise
2 nights at VB
1 night at Wilderness Lodge(just to get the free shuttle to the airport):cloud9:
