Wow we are quickly approaching FAll, around these parts it's been feeling like fall for a couple weeks, anyway.

As of the last reporting period we have:

8,852.77 miles and 2,435.48 hours!!! Isn't that a fun little statistic??

Reporting dates are:

Sunday, September 7
Sunday, September 14
Sunday, September 21
Wednesday, Septermber 30

We are in second place overall in hours and fourth place in miles. The other teams have over 10,000 miles! But we got the hours we are only behind by 53!

Wow! I still can't believe it's September. Where does the time go?

I still owe you my stats for last week Connie. I doubt it will move us into first but I'm going to try and increase my time and hours for September! I haven't checked out the team pages in forever so I didn't realize how well we were doing. Go Team Hakuna Matata :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hope everyone is doing well and had a great weekend!

Sue - Training is going ok but I think I've been too focused on improving my pace instead of increasing my miles. I haven't been putting my heart into training either - I've only been going for 3 days/week and short runs too. The Scotiabank will be my first half so I guess any time I get will be a PR.

Denise - I picked up a salsa on the weekend made with "ugly" tomatoes! I didn't realize that's what they were at first because the sign said heirloom tomatotes.

Dave - Congrats on a great pace!! And I am very jealous of that DL medal too!

Erica - WTG! 7 inches is fantastic :cheer2:

Good Morning team!!

Wow what a lot of miles and hours and now we’re here in the Fall, my favorite time of year. We have many things coming up for the Lareau household in the next few months. Shower for the DD, Wedding for the DD, a trip to Houston and then off to WDW in Nov for some romantic time for 2. In between all that we will continue to log our miles..

Yes Erica – if I didn’t love red meat or any meat so much I’m sure my skirt would fit – 7 inches is amazing.

Well I am at work so I’ll sign off but in the mean time GO TEAM!

Hi Captain, thanks for getting us started on September.

Fall will mean the end of the heat for a while. We had fall weather this summer and not that it's going on fall we are getting summer heat?? I bet our northern friends are having cooler mornings already.

Scott and Lynn did you get home safe????? Or are you off on another cruise.

Denise the quilt is very nice, it shows that you love doing that stuff.

Have a super evening y'all.

Is it fall already?!

No run for me today. First day of classes and convocation march in (does that count? lol)

I did however figure out how my training schedule is going to change.
It looks like: Monday run, Tuesday off, Wednesday run, Thursday cross train, Friday run, Saturday off, Sunday long run (starting at 5 miles and increasing .5 to 1 mile a week)
Does this sound like a good schedule to you guys?

WP, training schedule looks good to me! Welcome back to New England and the cooler temps. Although it's suppose to be near 90 on Thursday.

Yes Dave we went out at 4:52 this morning with fog and cool temps but I do love that lower degree - it's perfect for me. We had done our walks over the weekend a bit later and I paid for it all day with a headache - it was too darn hot for me. Mark's knee is bothering him so we took a little longer on the walk so he didn't have more trouble with it and I don't lose my walking partner.

Already Weds, Yeah! Have a great day,it's a beauty here.

Good morning Team!

Things are moving in slow motion at the speed of light, today. Yea, that's a great big oxymoron, but it's so true.

I got a call yesterday afternoon late. I will have a post-op appointment on friday and Surgery on Tuesday, the 9th. So, of course, I am second guessing myself about all of this. I can be such a doofus, sometimes.

I will be needing your help. I won't be able to exercise for at least 10 days, so if you wouldn't mind, could you share a little time and a mile with me?

Don't worry about the duties of the captain, I will be able to perform those without missing a beat! I should be able to type the very next day, since it is arthroscopic surgery and just 3 little tiny incisions.

Thanks!

Hugs Connie! I'm sure everything will be fine.

I went for a 4.25 miler in 35 minutes (8:15 mpm pace). It was a good way to start the morning and it was nice not to have to get up at 6am to beat the heat.

Just popping in to say hello to everyone! Nothing of import to report today ... the weather has been hot the past few days but it looks like things will be cooling down next week. Ever since I started running, I've turned into someone who loved hot weather into someone who prefers the cool weather. Funny!

Connie -  That was fast! I'm surprised that you've got your surgery booked already! Keep us posted!

Scott/Lynn - How was DL? Are you back or still on vacation?

Jen - Your schedule looks good to me but I'm not an expert. I always like to try alternate my running days so that I have an off day or a training day in between. The only exception is the weekend :)

Denise - I'm glad it's Wednesday too! I'm already looking forward to the weekend!

Take care everyone!!

Erica is starting to inherit my senile streak. She did her 10 miles in 1 hour and 58 min, not 28 min, which was still pretty darn speedy.

I only had a 4 miler and a little pool running. Oh well at least she isn't laying on her back, in the shade, of an overpass.:) What is one to do with a princess?

Good cool Rocky Mountain morning! While you all are baking, we've been cooling off rapidly. Temp this morning is 51. One day this week we had a low of 48 and a high of 70! It's supposed to be a little warmer today, but a high tomorrow of the low 60's! I am just hoping that with the cooler weather they will turn off the chiller in my office. I have frozen all summer, even wearing a heavy sweatshirt over my work clothes! It can be hard to type when your fingers are about to freeze right off! We're in a very old building and it's being used differently than what it was originally designed for, so "they say" they can't regulate the temperature. I don't know about "can't", but certainly they don't! Four offices down the hall have been hot, hot all summer.....I'm trying to figure out a way to trade offices by next spring!

Erica, you nearly made me faint, thinking you had done 10 miles in under an hour and a half! I was wondering how in the heck you had managed that! I must say I'm relieved to know it took you a little longer than that, although that's certainly a good speed, too! You're doing so great!

Jen, glad you're getting settled! You've gotten the first step done - The Plan. Always good to have a plan! :thumbsup2

Hi, Vicky! Hang in there!

Dave - This dust's for you! pixiedust: You'll do great today!

Denise, fall is my favorite time of year, too! I think......until it's time for winter, then THAT'S my favorite time of year.....until it's time for spring and then....well, you get the idea! :rolleyes1

Connie - OF COURSE I'll be glad to share some - or all! - of my workout time with you! I know this will work out great for you! Has to be better than the pain you've endured for all these months!

I am off to water aerobics this morning! Make a great day, everyone!

My class went really well today. I only had one student, a Dr's wife. Her personal trainer recommended that she take my class because she has a disc degeneration problem, Erica has that also, and can't run for cardio. Her husband and son are runners and she wants to do the races to, but as a racewalker. She has Dave McGovern's book but didn't get much out of it. She said the class was great and is excited about continuing and learning more.

Here is my lesson plan:

EFFECTIVE WALKING

1. INTRODUCTIONS

2. WALK BASICS

A. ARM SWING
B. STARTING FROM THE HIP
C. STRAIGHT LINE WALKING
D. BACK STRAIGHT, HEAD UP
E. FEELS LIKE BABY STEPS
F. WALKING DOWN STEPS

3. WALK PRACTICE

A. 5 MIN WARM UP
B. 20 MIN WALK
C. 5 MIN COOL DOWN

4. STRETCHING/STRENGTH BUILDING

A. SHIN/CALF ON STEP
B. QUAD/GROIN/HAM/HIP/GLUTE ON MAT

5. EQUIPMENT

A. BODY GLIDE
B. SHOES
C. CLOTHES
D. ROLLER/STICK
E. WATCH/GPS/HRM

As I get people more trained they can help me work with new walkers. I'm going to make sure the advertising gets out better now that I've seen the class works.

Anyway good morning y'all.

Dave, your class sounds great wish we had something like that here. I'm sure if I went to a Gym I could get some sort of personal training but for now I like things the way they are.

Erica, a well deserved day off.

I was so tired this morning. Mark had to watch Sara Palin last night so we stayed up till 11PM if he listen's to McCain tonight he'll do it in the living room not the bedroom. Sheesh! When that alarm went off at 4:40 I didn't think I could move but we did go out for our 5 miles. Around 11am this morning I just about died, was too pooped to do anything and I"m at work with the phone ringing off the hook. Went home at lunch made a grilled cheese sandwich, chips and then a 20 min nap. On my way back to work I grabbed a sugar free popsicle. It was a more productive afternoon. :cat:

Time to shut down the computer here at work, have a good evening, I may take another nap when I go home before dinner.

Erica, good job on the 10-miler the other day.

As for me, I did 4.75 in roughly 40 minutes today (8:45 pace). I think my long run this weekend will be 5+ (a new distance PR), but that depends on the weather. My friends and I also walked to the library and dinner today, so that was about 1.5 miles round trip.

Well...I am home. I returned with a sinus infection (complete with fever) and am extremely itchy rash on my ankles (which I get every time...it must be a disinfectant spray I they use). I bought and wore a pedometer and most days we actually walked more than 20,000 steps. It's a big difference between that and how much I walk when I'm there with my mom. Jordan and I were trucking around those grounds like real troupers! I even got to run two mornings!! :thumbsup2 He loved it and agreed to book the bounceback...so it looks like this could be a yearly trip for us!! :cool1:

It'll take me a day or so to catch up with everything. I've sent Connie my totals for that last week in Aug (complete with one LONG day of Disney walking)!!

Anyhow..hope everyone is doing well. Happy September!!!

Hi everyone! The weather is definitely cooling down here which makes it nice for running! It's still a little humid but that's okay. I went out for my morning run but I'm having some trouble with my knee again :( I think it's from a couple of weeks ago when I was at DF's house. I forgot to bring my new running shoes with me and decided to go out for a 30 minute run in my old pair. I didn't think it would make that big of a difference (I guess I'm wrong). Haven't been able to get a hold of my PT either and I'm not sure if I should keep sending him messages since it is the weekend. So it looks like I'll be walking my route tomorrow.

Dave - Got any walking tips for me? I think I'm going to be walking for a bit until I can see either my PT or chiro. Glad to hear your class went well!

Kathy - Sounds like my office! I'm always drinking green tea and have my wrap on. Adjusting the thermostat doesn't seem to make a difference either.

Margie - Did you order your skirt from RunningSkirt.com? I received mine yesterday (not a Minnie) so you should get your's any day now :) Mine came with a laundry bag but I didn't get my 20% discount :(

Eva - Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your sinus infection... DF or I seem to always catch something when we go to WDW - thankfully not until we get back! Did you go on Toy Story Mania? I've heard the lineups are crazy!

Good morning, team! What beautiful fall weather we're having! DH's niece and her son are here for the weekend. We did 6.5 miles yesterday morning on the riverwalk and then we all took the canoe out for a few hours. I thought I'd be sore from the rowing and from lifting that heavy old thing on and off the top of the pick-up, but I'm not. :cheer2:

Dave, your class sounds great!

Actually, it sounds like things are going pretty well for almost everyone! :rolleyes1

Eva - sorry about your sinus infection, but I'm really glad Jordan enjoyed WDW and that you'll be heading back! :) That's a relief!

Bunny - I went out at lunchtime on Friday and bought hot chocolate mix (1 diet and one regular) for the whole office! LOL!

Margie and Erica - your stories brought back such memories of my own DD. Ah, yes. Nearly brought tears to my eyes - tears of joy, that is, that she lived to grow up and have two children of her own to pay her back! :lmao:

Well, I need to get a load of laundry in the washer :laundy: before I go out for a walk. (I know you'd all be disappointed if I didn't use the laundry icon at least once a weeki! :upsidedow )

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Last night was really stormy and I saw lots of limbs down this morning on my run.

I have a new distance PR. I ran 5.25 miles this morning and was able to maintain an 8:45 pace. I think I could have gone further but why push it. Hey Kids we are alive and well, and have not been shipwrecked by Hanna.

DL report to follow: we are at WDW at AKV in for diner and the evening. We head home tomorrow. Getting some miles and time in, Lynn will report for us when we get home.

WDW MARATHON WEEKEND REORT:

We had very good flights out of Denver, All went well and we arrived at DL resort at about 1:00, dropped bags with bell services and headed to the Expo, The expo was kinda busy, but the lines moved right along. Bought a couple of items and met some cruise friends for diner at the Anaheim Garden Walk. This is a shopping district a short distance from DL. The went to a grocery store from some basic supplies.. When we got back to the DL Hotel we decided to take a walk to locate and early spot for coffee. Just so happened we were at Jamba Juice right at 7:00 and ran into Jeff’s WISH meet. Very nice to meet some more folks.

The next morning we were up and at it for the 5K, Got some coffee at the DL Hotel and met up with Linda and Robert on the walk over, I had kinda decided to walk with Lynn , Linda and Robert, but that changed when we started, Had a nice 5K with a easy.9:30 pace.

Strolled back to the hotel , cleaned up and spent the day at CA with Linda nad Robert nice relaxing slow day with lots o breaks to ice Roberts knee.

Had a diink at Naples with folks from DisneyRunning.com , then met some cruise buddies at the UVA bar at DTD, ice place , and the portions are tap assize, all very good. The off to get stuff together for the next day.

I slept very well and we were up at about 3:00 , out the door, coffee at DL resort, and off to meet folks at the R tent. Some how my GPS was locked on a return navigation screen, got that figured out and we made our way to the corals,

The start went off well, made our way through CA then over to DL, doing good feeling strong, popped a bag of Jelly Belly beans in my mouth at mile 4, felling, good, pace is in the 9:30-10 min range., taking on water at every water stop, and at mile 6 water and power ade, shortly there after, stomach cramps start, Then the need for porta potties is felt, 4 stops over the next 4 miles, water is hard to take on, thought of any food is yechko, keep plodding away, Started to walk run at about mile 10 ish. Stomach was acting up, There is where I really slowed down, pace dropped to abut 14 Min miles, confirmed by GPS, Walked and ran the last miles in and finished with a time of 2:51, I know I was a hurting puppy, Got our KEWL medals and waited for Lynn to fini. Thought of food was not high at this time , took on water,

A little bummed as I was hoping for a way better time , but lessons were learned, plan better for electrolyte replacement, and avoid the powereade . It was weird as nothing like that had every bothered me before. Got some salty stuff and felt better and took on more water, felt whole lot better by 5:00. This will definitely aid in planning for WDW in January. It may have just been a bug, I will plan a very long run and see what happens. .

Lynn did great , I am very proud of her,

Back to the room , still feeling a little gastric distress, washed out our race clothes and cleaned up, Lunch and then to ESPN and met up the Disney running.com folks. Then shuttled to LAX and are off to MCO.

Talked to several folks who indicated the powerade they had at mile 6 was a little funky, and there were a couple of folks I met experienced the same issues.

We made to MCO, and then to the port, had a long wait to get on the ship due to an inspection and some trying to bring some illegal stuff info the country.

Tropical storm Hanna is not an issue so far, in Nassau to day, So we will see.

Well I did manage to do 5 tonight. I certainly didn't want to. I had a headache was grouchy and giving Mark a real hard time. I wanted to stay home and sew and pout about my head. He was not hearing it at all. He KNOWS that if I go walking it will help circulate the blood in my neck from my arms swinging back in forth in the powerwalk position. Of course he was right, what a pain in the A**. Now my neck doesn't hurt, I have miles for the team and will do just a bit of sewing.

Erica, love the "new" name.

Scott and Lynn, sounds like you did fine. I'm glad you mention the water/poweraid stuff. While walking tonight I had briefly thought about not bringing my water belt to the 1/2 in January. I think you answered my doubts, I will bring it and use my water. I had watered down the poweraid in last year and it was still to sweet for me so it'll be just water this time.

BTY-- Mark and I were going out to dinner Friday night - where Miranda works. We were on our way and a couple was crossing the street in the front of us. Kids talking, holding hands and delaying us. No big deal, we had plenty of time. We round the corner and go down a road to merge onto the highway, Mark is driving and all of a sudden he swerves, slams on the breaks and I go back and forth sort of like the Dino ride. Down comes a tree landing on our hood. A second earlier and we would have had it directly on our heads. I know my mother or some other guardian angel put that couple in front of our car and gave them the right pace to delay our arrival at that falling tree. SO, if you get delayed, you just never know, it is a delay or your guardian angel?????????? Patience behind the wheel, it could save your life in more ways than one!

Mark will see his friendly body shop man tomorrow for an estimate..

Hi everyone! doing my once a month check in. wish I could visit sooner, but I know whenever I "peek in" next thing I know and half hour to an hour is gone getting caught up. I never did revisit the August thread.

Connie - Thoughts will be will with you this week for a successful surgery and speedy recovery

Erica - Nice new name. I keep thinking of changing mine, since it was the result of a typo and drives me crazy. Congrats on the 10 miles!

Jen - You training schedule looks good - for all I know:confused3 Now that school's back in session and the after school schedule is set, I've also figured out my schedule - Sat will be my long day (this week I did 6.27 miles), sunday a shorter easy day (2-3 miles), Monday rest, Tuesday will be an attempt at inverval training (of sorts)(4.0 miles) wed will be an easier day (later cross training) Thursday a push day (4.0 miles) friday will either be easy or rest. This year DD has gymnastics training Friday 4:30 - 7:30 and for the first time since before she was born (13+ years ago) DH and I can actually reinstate Friday night cocktails. Of couse years ago, that meant 2 martinis and then some... nowadays it means one martini and a galss of wine, then better be water until we're home:rotfl: In late October, I'll rejoin the YMCA which will allow for some "real" crosstraining and also some flexibility and pilates classes.

Scott - thanks for the report! Hearing of others peoples experiences puts those important seeds in you mind that sometime grow to an important thought at just the right time (does this make sense?

Denise and Mark - so glad you weren't hurt. And you're right about patience behind the wheel.

Panda Dave - congrats on your students and your blog!

So for me, the end of summer led to a couple light training weeks, but now it's fall and we're ready to go. I was a bit discouraged last Thursday. I did a 5K race that is held weekly and had a horrible time for me 43+ min! The other two 5K's I've done (including my first 3 months ago) were 37+ min. Not sure if it was the over 90 degress temps or the steak and cheese I had for lunch:rotfl2: - but I was jogging 8 minutes, walking 2 and my heart rate was at almost 90% for most of the race UGH!!!!
Of course, yesterday I did a 6.27 mile walk in 1 hour 33 minutes, heart rate nice and low (60-70%) pace overall pretty good for an "easy" train 14.83/minute. I felt a little redeemed but did end up with huge red welts on my arms. Guess I shouldn't have worn the t-shirt.

well, it's been an hour!

Gotta go - small bowl of ice cream (frozen yogurt) before bed.

Hi Everyone,

Tired - brain cells have left the body. Hagen has slept over for the past two nights. I hope to get caught up tomorrow. :rolleyes1

My gym schedule is changing again due to parents work & school schedule.
I went to the gym after church today - I have a 37-mile bike trip with my class next Saturday.

My foot is better every day but I am still careful, ice a lot, massage ball, Strasbourg Sock at night, lots of stretching, and Ibuprofen daily.

Connie, :grouphug: You will be in my thoughts and prayers!
I am PMing our miles and times.

Erica, I LIKE your new Name :goodvibes :hippie:

Oh, My, Gosh :hippie: has a blog - Congratulations, I will check it out ASAP! :cool1:

Hello all! I'm gearing up for my LSD and thought I'd check in. Looks like there was alot going on yesterday so let's get right to it!!

Margie - Good for you hitting the gym after church! It's always hard for me to get the motivation if I don't get to it first thing when I get up. It seems like brunch always seems like the logical thing to do after church...but the bike is sooo much healthier!

Anne - Glad to see you again!

Dave - I'll have to stop in and take a peak at that!

Erica - Great new name!! I didn't know that we could change them!

Kathy - Yep...I won Jordan over. And guess what his favorite park was?! EPCOT! Beer and food get them every time!! :lmao:

Denise - So glad you guys are ok after that tree! I've had a couple of "guardian angel" moments myself over the years...I always thought it was my late grandpa keeping me safe.

Scott - Thanks for the race report!! Congrats on another WDW medal!! Stinks that you had stomach issues, that's my big fear about the marathon!! Oh and...Jordan and I ended up coming home on Friday and I'm glad we hadn't been able to stay because I was falling apart by that last day. Sinus infection, ankle rash, water retention to the point I was uncomfortable (due to all the yummy, but oh so salty food in WDW). Anyhow...hope you guys enjoy yourselves and if you get a chance before you leave, tell Mickey that I already miss him!! ::MickeyMo

Vicky - Yes...we LOVED that ride. We rope dropped it so we didn't have a line at all, but then Jordan wanted to ride it again later that day and we went to go check it out. They were out of fast passes and the standby line was 60 minutes. Ugh. We headed over and rode ToT instead. It's a super busy ride since there isn't a whole lot in that park that appeals to kids. Word to the wise...ROPE DROP is the key!!

Jennifer - WTG on the distance! You are really trucking along now!!

Thanks to all who wished me well...I'm still a little sick, but I've been taking old antibiotics that Jordan had from an ear infection. I know that's a "NO-NO" but it was better than waiting till today to be able to get an appointment. I don't feel the pain or pressure I did the last two days so I'll ride it out for today and see if my LR helps.

Most of my Disney trip pics are up on Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/beva216) if you guys want t go check them out. The folders are separated by the days of the trips. We ended up with over 600 pics so these are mainly the ones with us in them.

Anyhow...off for my LR. I'll stop in later if I get a chance!

Hi Team Mates!

Connie – Please keep us posted – what time is surgery tomorrow? :grouphug:

:hippie: Nice Blog, Dave – KWEL - First Page & personal information, but the other links told me page found. What do I need to do? Have fun with the flyer for your class. :cool1:

Safe Travels Scott & Lynn! Scott nice Race Report. Sorry about the extra negative issues getting that WDL Medal!

Erica & Kathy I have decided I need to start working on Hagen's creative bent immediately - So I gave him his very own notebook after seeing (literally) the writing on the wall - of course it's the wall with wallpaper not paint! Oh Dear, what's he going to be like when he arrives at the Terrible Twos? I seen these key boards that are color coded for little one - bright blue, yellow, red, - the mouse is a blue & yellow. It was too cute - I am thinking Christmas.

Vicky, my Minnie Athletic Skirt came Saturday - Yes, I ordered from Runningskirts.com - email them about not receiving the discount and they will take care of it. We are supposed to click on the link 'Where You Heard About Them' to enter the discount, disney08 and I think it was over August 31st. PayPal emailed they made the adjustment. How does yours fit? My skirt is soft, comfortable, not snug, it is unusual but the waist is loose, and the compression shorts do not compress anything- I wish they were a little tighter.

Margie, only the blog is up and running the PandaEndurance site is still in work. It will be probably early next year before it's operational. We work on it everyday, Robert doing the computer work and I do the dialog.

My workout today was a good one, I did some speed work, even getting to 9:13 per mile pace for a lap. I think about 4.5 miles total. I got my heart rate up to 179 during that pace, not bad for a month shy of 57. I wasn't even breathing hard, but one lap at that pace was all I wanted. I still have a long way to walk but I can see daylight at the end of the tunnel.

ToT is next month!!!! I just realized that. I'm kinda slow I guess.:confused3
It sneaked up on me. We better save some pennies Erica, beer is expensive at Disney.

Connie, sending our love and hope for a speedy recovery:hug:

Eva, kewl pictures, you are indeed a pretty princess.

Love the name, PandaPrincess! Go the miles!

Love the blog, Panda

Denise, so glad you were uninjured. When something like that happens, I always picture a guardian angel breathing hard and looking exhausted!

Hi, glad to hear from you, Rpsemont!

Margie, thanks for the kind words. 10 or 11 am tomorrow. I have to leave the house at 5:00 though, I have to check in at 6:00 am. I sure hope they can fix this!

Eva? Enquiring minds want to know, what the heck is Rope drop???

Welcome home, Scott and Lynn.

Everyone stay safe. Special prayer for Donna (Bridgerunner) our former teammate.

I will be lurking but probably not much typing for awhile. So y'all stay safe. I am here!

See ya, Connie

Time is passing too quickly. It's already the 8th. Too much to do and no time to get everything done. Another weekend that just flew by. The days are getting shorter & the leaves have already started to change colour.

It was a rainy weekend in Southern Ontario. Didn't run Sat. until late in the day and then out early on Sun. Wanted to get in a 6+ miler on Sun. but the rain started when I was out there. Cut it short with a 4+ miler.

Monday night is the usual pilates. Haven't been in 2 weeks because of labour day. She'll probably work us extra hard.

Eva/ Scott/ Lynn - glad to hear everyone had a great time.

Connie - best wishes for tomorrow. take the time you need. don't rush the recovery.

Margie - I hear you on the compress shorts under the skirt. Finally found a Brooks one that is pretty good.

Dave - you had mentioned about one of the Canadian gals seeing a moose or elk awhile back. we can now add a moose to our wildlife sightings list. haven't seen one in years and he was in no hurry to cross the road either.
hoping to have this week to check out your blog.

Have a great evening & happy training.....Sue

Good evening team,
It's been a long time since I post but I'm back: I was still training but it was difficult because I had no goal. I was suppose to be in Disney in January, but it's not possible anymore and I was kind of down. I have now found 2 races (5k), one in october and the santa's shuffle in december. So feeling better.
Are you ready for some football?? Being a Patriot fan, I was for the first 30 minutes of yesterday and then....... I can't believe that Tom is out for the season. What will happen now:confused:
It's getting cooler up here and it's perfect weather for running.

Erica - That's a good time on the 6 miles. My RFTT time was 1:04 and I was running (or what some call running)!! :rotfl:

Diane - Glad to hear you are still going to race locally. Santa's Shuffle sounds fun!! Does everyone dress up?!

Jennifer - Don't push it too much. Have you tried looking at the McMillian running calculator to see how fast you should be doing your LR, Tempos and pace runs? You would plug in your best 5K time and they will tell you where you should be for the rest. Hope it helps!! Here's the link (http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/mcmillanrunningcalculator.htm).

Sue - I LOVE moose!!! They are the cutest of the horned animals I think. :goodvibes

Connie - Rope drop is when they first open the parks and they walk the crowds slowly to the major attractions behind a rope. It's a way to prevent people from trampling kids and whatnot. Once you get to the attraction, may it be Expedition Everest, Space Mountain or in this case Toy Story Midway Mania, they "drop the rope" and you can get into the que. I love the opening ceremonies at the parks every day...and I love to rope drop!! Best way to get on the major rides with no wait whatsoever!!
PS You will be in my prayers today!

Dave - Can't wait to see the actual site! And yes..I just re-learned how expensive beer is in WDW! Strongbow is sooo good though!!!

OK..off to get ready for my first day back in the office. Ugh. :sad2:

Good Morning Team!

Yes, we are back. It was a good trip. The race went well for me - no PR - my knees were acting up (still), so I ended up walking the whole race, so pace was not as fast as when I can run occasionally. I did pair up with Tracy and she kept our pace at about 14:30, but after about 9 miles, I could not keep up with her any more. My time was 3:22:57 with a pace of 15:05, not my best, but not my worst either. We also had fun on the cruise and at WDW for 2 days afterwards. The coast to coast medal is great! It looks much better in person than it did in the pictures!

Weather here is much cooler than when we left, and much cooler than the 95+ temps we left in Orlando! We are supposed to have highs in the low 70's all week - I guess fall is coming - but I still expect more warm weather before winter!

Erica - love the new name also, and you are doing great with all the miles!!!

Dave - congrats on the class!

Connie - pixiedust: for todays surgery! And I will get totals posted to you as soon as I can compile them.

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"]Hi Team Mates!

[B][COLOR="Red"]Vicky, my Minnie Athletic Skirt came Saturday - Yes, I ordered from Runningskirts.com - email them about not receiving the discount and they will take care of it.

I tried on the skirts at the Expo at DL - I was surprised at the size they put me in - a 2 (I normally wear a 10)! They did say that I wanted to go with the tightest that I could get into - so they would not fall off when I put things in the pockets! I did not buy one there because they we not offering any discount - I may still order one off the net if we get another discount code. There is still not alot of compression, not at all like the CW-X tights I have, the material is too thin for that I think.

I may have missed a few things, I did not go back and finish up the old thread. As it is cool, I may get the dogs for a walk, when I find my shoes!!! I have alot to unpack and get myself organized and I need to get into the basement and work on those bookshelves, so I can have them stained for the weekend. I picked up the dogs this morning - they are still acting crazy!!!
Better get busy!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I want to give you all the update on Connie....She DID have a tear in her rotator cuff - a pretty bad one, too! But the doctor fixed it all up! She sounds tired, but in good spirits. She's a little bummed because her recovery time will now be about double what she had expected because of the tear, about 3 months. I know she'd appreciate any help the team is willing to donate to her in terms of miles and hours.

She will be in a sling for about 6 weeks, so her typing will be limited to what she can manage with one hand. She is sure, though, that she can carry out her duties as captain! She will be able to read your posts, and I know she'll be glad to know you're all thinking of her!

Everyone keep up the good work!

Dear Connie:

In your absence, my DH Mark has decided (basically I told him that he was now on the team) to join and will give ALL his miles to you. While I'm not sure how many you do weekly.but he does almost as many as I do since we walk together about 99.9% of the time. So you can count on at least 15-20 miles per week from him. We may be a bit off this week because of other duties but we'll catch up quickly.

Here he is with my dd at the 1/2 in January.

Hi everyone!

No run for me today. It was a well needed rest day. I went to the Teach for America presentation today, and that's now my plan A for post-graduation (with grad school being plan B, and a job as plan C).

Eva, thanks for the reminder about speed and over training. I've looked at MacMillans off and on (according to it I should run tempos at roughly 8:40-9 and long runs at 9:15-10). This may sound like a stupid question, but is there any clear definition as to what qualifies as a long run? I did 5+ miles on sunday, but some part of me doesn't feel like that's truly a long run.

Also, Erica add me to the crew who loves the new name

Just dropping in for a few. Still feeling sick. I ended up at our work health clinic yesterday afternoon and returned with 4 prescriptions. I'm saving my sick time for when we start to have a family so I suffered through work yesterday and I'll do the same today. Still haven't had time to tally my miles from Disney...so busy returning from vacation at work. Lucky for me...my Jordan took good care of me last night. He got my scripts, rented me a movie and made me stay on the couch while he cooked dinner. He also made a pork roast for tonight so that I could relax when I got home. He is too good to me! :cloud9:

Connie - Here's some PD for a quick recovery! pixiedust: Glad to hear that you are ok...and you'll be getting even better every day!!

Jennifer - I have always used the Higdon training schedules even when I am not racing. I plateau off when I need to for various reasons, but I have pretty much built my endurance from being able to barely run 3 miles to running 14-15...based on his novice program. Here's the link for the 10K (http://www.halhigdon.com/10ktraining/10knovice.htm). The long runs are on Sunday...since you are so speedy you might want to go for the intermediate program (http://www.halhigdon.com/10ktraining/10kinter.htm) instead. Then move on to the half!!

That's all for now. Hope to stop in later...

Get Better Connie, seems like the docs always find more wrong after they get in there. I feel you pain been there done that. Are you going to get a KEWL Buzz Lightyear Tatoo like mine, I have Buzz blasting my shoulder surgery scar.

Eva, I also got some kinda crud on our trip, sinus really stuffed up and I am really pooped, still at work, just too much to do, pumping the fluids big time.

SO you two get better, that is an order....

Dave, I checked out your blog and website, KEWL!!!! looks like a winner to me.

Well, Scott, Lynn and Eva and anyone else that will be flying either to the TOT, the marathon or anywhere else.

Years ago, I would come down with some kind of sinus bug every year at the same time. I would end up at the Drs and finally she sat me down one day and we looked over my chart. Yes every year I would “come down with something” at the same time. She said what are you doing that would cause this? I went on vacation! Then through these boards I found that a lot of people would spay their nose ½ an hour prior to a flight with Afrin Nasal Spray as a buffer against that crappy air circulated throughout the cabin.

I also bring along my own water ( purchased after security) and my own snack that is wrapped. I never touch my food with my bare hands only the wrapper. Since I have started that practice, I’m no longer sick after a vacation. I remember watching a 20/20 where a scientist took swabs of tray tables on planes and found TB on one of them – that never left my pea brain. No more touching and eating!

It’s not hard to do, and worth the effort.

Denise, Good Advise for sure, I also wash the paws a bunch more than at home. Need to get some hand sanitizer to take along. I am also doing a sinus rinse that seems to help. Never heard of the Afrin before a flight, we use the 12 hour stuff on dive trips to help clear the ears.

Thanks

Hi everyone! I went to see my PT on Monday and he did ART on my left hip and knee. Definitely feels a lot better and he said that I can keep running! Yay! He also gave me some balance exercises to do and thinks that might be part of the problem. He watched me run and said I don't have much control over the position of my left knee when I land.

Connie - Lots of pixiedust:for a speedy recovery!

Dave - Very cool blog!

Erica - Love the new name :goodvibes

Margie - My skirt is a little snug too. I didn't really pay attention to the waist or try putting things into the pockets. I have a skirt that I bought for the Minnie which was one size up and that is definitely too lose for me.

Lynn - I have a discount code (15%) for Running Skirts that came with my order. I don't think I'll be using it. Let me know if you want it.

Kathy - The hot chocolate was such a nice gesture! I wish I had more coworkers like that!

Eva - Thanks for sharing your pics with us! I hope you're feeling better today! Yay for Jordan! That was really nice of him :)

Scott - The Buzz Lightyear tattoo sounds cool!

Denise - I read somewhere that Paula Radcliffe uses a nasal rinse too. I think she did one before and immediately after the flight. Good advise about the water and the snacks. I might have to pack some Lysol wipes to clean off the folding trays next time or just stay away from them completely.

Good evening,
Well we have lost Tom for the football season but we have found Lance for the next Tour de France. It will be interesting: in the newspaper (Québec) they think Lance will go with team Astana because that is the team of his old manager. We will see.
I was looking for airflight from Burlington, Vt to Orlando for the Princess half-marathon next March and it is quite expensive:339$ to go and 254$ on the return. I think I will save my money for the 2010 half-marathon in january. And anyway, I want to run through the Castle and on main street.
Connie- take care of yourself.

Boy! I just HAD to go and say a few posts ago that it sounded like everyone was doing well, didn't I? Now many of you are not so well! Murphy's law....Sorry! :guilty: I hope you are all better soon!

I just got off the phone with Connie. She's feeling much worse today than yesterday - the good drugs apparently wore off! ;) She's very sore and unable to lie down, so she is sleeping (sort of - as much as she CAN sleep) in her rocker. Hopefully, this will ease up in a few days.

I am doing well, sticking with eating well and getting in lots of varied kinds of exercise. My silly knee has decided to behave again. I guess it hurts only to make me appreciate when it doesn't hurt! And, boy, do I appreciate it! I had a bunch of filing to do at work and was able to squat down completely with no pain! Yippee!! I would have thought with the bumping up of exercise that it would have hurt more, but no. I have done water aerobics, step aerobics, and walking and it feels great now! I don't get it.....:confused3

It's nice to hear from some of you who are not able to post as much as others. Keep up the good work!

Well..the meds are working and I'm feeling better. So sorry to hear that Connie is unable to say the same. My mom has always said that days 2 and 3 after surgery are the worst so hopefully this is just a rough patch. Connie...you are a tough cookie...just give it a day or so and hopefully you feel much better!!

About the Afrin...to be honest I thought I was immune to airport bugs since I am in one 5 days a week. I use the gross airport bathrooms 5 times a day (since I drink all my water at work). But there is something about that recycled air and the surfaces of a plane's interior that just go beyond gross. I'll try my Flonase or Afrin next time, Airborn...and hand wipes!!! Anything is worth not being sick at Disney!

On an unrelated note...I was on the Resorts board looking up POP and POR stuff for our upcoming trips and I saw that there has been a bedbug outbreak at POR. I had been hoping for the AB section, but it seems to be isolated to there so now I'm thinking of the mansions...err Magnolia Bend ...or whatever it's called. Have any of you ever had problems with bedbugs at WDW? They said that they get brought in from guests from overseas and there is no way of knowing they are there until they infest enough to show signs (droppings, casings, etc.) :scared1:

OK...and for the personal stuff:

Kathy - Glad to hear your knee is better. Mines ok too for now. But my hips is acting up now. My dad said it was a bursa sack or something, but he said the only way it'll get better is full rest and it'll just get inflamed again when I start running. Sooo...my plan is to not over train and do the best I can through the marathon. :confused3

Lynn - Here's some PD to hope you don't get sick! pixiedust: And Scott...I hope you are feeling better!!

Dave - I was reading you blog yesterday morning and we thinking "OK...now NO treats today!!" I'm just not as strong as you. I saw those cupcakes sitting there at work and I had to eat one! So sad. :sad2: I have a sweet tooth that can't be controlled lately!!

To the rest...happy training and I'll check you later!!

Its 6:58 am I'm sitting here with wet hair and need to get ready. We had quilting bee last night and Miranda did learn about her shower on Sunday so the cat is out of the bag and at least I can post why my miles are down this week. She still has surprises but she'll have to wait till Sunday.

Oh and for dinner last night, with my bee friends coming over I had 5 cookies for dinner. Not just regular kind, the Martha Stuart kind that Miranda made. YUM. No walk today so that fat is now sitting on my "you know what" but next week will be better Shower will be done and life will be normal till the wedding on 10/25.

Good evening,
Well we have lost Tom for the football season but we have found Lance for the next Tour de France. It will be interesting: in the newspaper (Québec) they think Lance will go with team Astana because that is the team of his old manager. We will see.
Salut
Diane

OUr press has very little about this return, I was wondering what team he would be on, would he have his own???? He will. as anyone would, need a strong team to support him for a win. It will be exciting to see. I also wonder how many riders have committed with contracts already for the tour.

Good Morning Team!

It is cool and windy this morning, so I am going to my winter schedule of eating breakfast before walking. Never did get out yesterday, so need to definately get out today.

Good news on the knees Kathy and Eva - mine are still bothering me, but with the cooler weather, I can forgo carrying water for the dogs - now, if I only lost 10 pounds, I am sure the knees would be fine! Strengthing my leg muscles wouldn't hurt either!

Connie - hope you are feeling better soon! Scott lived on the sofa for quite a while, he needed the back of the sofa for support for his arm, and he could not get that in a bed. He had lots of pillows!

Have a great day team!

We Appreciate - Kathy, thanks so much for keeping us informed of Connie/s progress. AND Mark, a huge thank you for the Captain Connie miles :goodvibes

Not much free time this week (?) Like everyone here the schedules have changed. I am trying to fit everything in and get back on an even keel. Not even sure that possible theses days?

Gym this morning, then Hagen's library time, went to the bank so I could pay the summer taxes :scared1: It is a beautiful 69 degrees and as soon as Hagen wakes from his nap we are out of here for a walk :upsidedow

Has our :hippie: added more to his Blog? I need to revisit and see what's added & changed. BTW its a Great Blog! Nice Design :thumbsup2

Vicky, my skirt is not tight anywhere - is it recommended that they fit tight? Any problems with cells phone, etc in the pocket? Should I send my back for a smaller size? :headache:

Foot seems to be a bit better each day. I still faithfully do all the icing, stretching, Foot Ball Rubz, etc after walking or being on my feet for awhile.
It seems that I take the Strasbourg Sock off in the middle of the night :confused3 but at least It is on for a few hours every night.

Good morning, oops scratch that, Good afternoon team.

I've had a busy morning to: taught my class, it went very smoothly. Then took off for a good pace 4 miles on the hills. Finished with an hour of pushing the mower around the front yard.

I don't normally discuss politics but just this once, since I'm ticked about this. The guy who stars in the Borne Identity movies said that Sarah Palin running for vice president sounds like a bad Disney movie, "Hockey Mom faces down Russian president". Perhaps some "Mom" values would be a refreshing change in the government.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Not much to say, but I do agree with Dave. Kinda of a sexist thing to say...that a mom doesn't belong in the white house?! Who said that? Matt Damon?

Good Morning Team!

It is raining here today - I did get 6 miles in yesterday with the dogs, it was cool and sprinkling when we went. Today is up in the air, I may go down to our workout room and actually use it! If it stops raining for 5 min, I may take them out for a short loop.

Scott is at a meeting in a lodge that gets no cell service, so I am sure he gets no internet service either! He should be back tonight.

Margie - when I was at the Expo at DL, I tried on a couple of the skirts from RunningSkirts.com, and they said it should be tight so that it would not fall off when you put something in the pockets. They had me in a 2 - when I looked at the website, size 2 was equal to a 4-6!, and I normally wear a 10-12!

Dave - glad your class is going well!

Connie - hope you are feeling better! pixiedust:

Happy Friday everyone! I went out for a run last night with DF. We just ran on a track at a high school near his house. I told him that he should start out slowly.

Margie/Lynn - I have a size 2 and it's pretty snug but I do have bigger thighs. I haven't actually tried running in it yet. With the running skirt (size 3) that I used for the Minnie, I only put my room key, a credit card and a little bit of tissue so I don't know how it would hold up with something heavier. I normally wear a size 6-8 (depending on the store). So I think the 2 is right for me. The size 3 I have still fits but it won't stay up if I run in it. I can measure them when I go home if you like.

Connie - Hang in there! We're all thinking of you

Eva - My hips have been kind of "tickling" me during my runs. Actually it feels more like a pinchy but funny bone sensation. My PT gave me some exercises to do before I run (in addition to the lunges and squats). I can send them to you later tonight if you like.

Diane - I was looking at flights too and agree they are expensive! The hotels are expensive too - I'm use to going during low season. I think I looked like this  when I saw the e-mail from my TA.

Dave - Glad to hear your class went well! Do you have more students now? I wasn't very impressed by Matt Damon's mom comment on Palin either.

Kathy, Denise, Jen, Sue, Kim, Erica, Mark, Scott, Anne - :wave2:

Connie isn't on the IM today so I couldn't check on her.

I had a really hot and humid 4 miles on the hills today. I went at noon instead of my normal early morning. Yucky hot. 1st mile warm-up in 14:18 then 3 miles in 36:00 for a 12 min per mile pace.

I followed it up with a good weight workout and then some pool running.

I'm thinking about doing a race tomorrow morning, not sure which one yet.

Hello, Team!

I spoke to Connie this evening. She had an appt today to change her bandages. She still sounds tired. I was a little worried because her DH is going to be hunting in Colorado, but her DD is going to come and stay with her for a few days. Then I will head down that way and get there next Thursday and stay for a couple of days. I'm glad she's not going to try to be by herself!

Scott and Eva, glad to hear you're on the mend. Hopefully you'll be completely recovered soon!

Dave, glad to hear your class is going well!

This has felt like a curiously long week, so I am headed early to bed. I have a walk scheduled for tomorrow morning, my usual Saturday morning 6.5 miles with good friends! I look forward to it each week!

Well guys..I'm exactly 2 weeks away from my first attempt at a half marathon. I talked to a co-worker yesterday that ran it (he did the full) a couple of years ago and he said it's not that bad of a course. He insured me I'd be fine and told me to kick back and have fun. My vacation followed by a feverish sinus infection has made me feel like I'm not training at my capacity, however I've read many times that it's better to under-train than over-train, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I just had hoped that one WISH member was running it other than me. I remember a couple from the boards ran it last year, but I don't remember who. I'll be all alone out there! Training is going well though. I PR's my 6 mile time two days ago and since it was raining, went out for 3.5 yesterday without my watch and felt like I made good time. Today is another rainy 3-4 miles before work then walking or rest tomorrow with a 9 mile LR on Sun or Mon.

Connie - Hope you are feeling a bit better. Take all the meds and call the doctor if you feeling like something is wrong! I called the doctor 3 times during my recovery in April and they took each call very seriously (even though it was my paranoia all three times). I'm glad I called though...doctors make the big bucks for a reason!

Dave - I wish I was running the TOT this year...I told myself last year that I'd do it this year, but when that free dining offer came up I could pass on a Sept visit to the world instead. It'll be great to see the pics of you guys in the kilts though!!!

Scott - Hope you are feeling better!!

Lynn - I know you have told me before, but what kind of dogs do you have?

Hi guys.

Margie, yes go smaller, pretty princesses in tight skirts, MMMMMMMMMMM, long contented sigh there. Ok slap slap, back to business Dave!

I did a 5 mile race this morning. OMG it was hot, I was sweating just walking from the car to the race area, I think the humidity was close to 100%. I was of course walking and this was a run race so I had fears of being last. When we lined up at the start I was really concerned about that, since there was a 1 mile fun walk after the 5 mile run. Most of the competitors about 100 or so were local running club members and WKU students since it was held on the campus hills and then thru town and back.

I hit mile on in 10:56 with one running behind me. Then we hit the famous WKU hills, there football team is called the HillToppers. So the second mile was 22:43, the course leveled out a little and I crossed the 3 mile mark at 33:52, mile 4 was 45:?? I couldn't hear the time good when it was called out. I crossed the finish at 56:57 for an average pace of 11:23 per mile with about 10 or so runners behind me. So I'm pleased with my race and time.

I didn't prepare for this race at all and had a hard workout yesterday instead of the normal rest day I would have before a race. But since it was a run race and spare of the moment anyway it didn't matter.

Have a great weekend y'all.

The heat, what a killer!! Once I get overheated, it takes quite a while for me to overcome the heat and headache that follows. I'm a northerner true and true. Much as I hate winter, I could not live were it's warm most of the time. 20-30 is my kind of work out weather. 50 is a heatwave and above that, has to be at 5am in the dark for me to get any miles in.

Eva, I know this was a little while ago, but thanks for the Hal Higdon suggestion. I'm now following the Intermediate plan for 10k (it seems to fit me better than the novice, even though I haven't run a 10k before).

Margie, Stay safe in that weather!

I ran 6 miles today at just under a 9 minute pace. I'm still around a month out from my 10k, but my goals are as follows: completely reachable, finish and preferably under 1 hour, realistic finish under 55 minutes, and finally my having the perfect day/better than expected goal would be to finish under 50 minutes. Seeing as today was a 54 minute 6 miler I may end up modifying these.

Had a good time despite the rain today for Miranda's shower. It was difficult but in the end the bride was happy and I think for the most part everyone had a good time. I'm beat but glad it's over. Here is a picture of her with one of the squares I made for her quilt. Everyone that came to the shower signed a square which I in turn will make into a quilt.

I used my favorite disney song, A dream is a wish your heart makes....

Mark did the layout for me and I traced it using a light table. We make a good creative team.

I am giving it one more day o rest to get the crud outta my system.

Slow weekend, just got the bookcases trimmed out, lawn mowed and the smoke detector up in the basement and did a fitting of the doors. Lynn will be busy staining.

We also made an apple pie with apples from our trees, and Lynn made some great apple butter from the crab apples, had enough for one jar.

Wrapping my mind around January.

I think I am in Columbus next week.

There are races on 9/20 and 9/27 here in Cheyenne that we will probably do, both are 5K events more fun runs.

Denise, yes a very KEWL mailbox, the snow pictures reminded me that winter will soon be upon us. I guess that is why WDW in Jan will be fun.

We also booked an Adventures by Disney trip to Peru for Sept of 2009. Looks like that will be my new retirement date, will give me a full 30 years.

Dave - congrats on the race!

Denise - nice quilt!

I did order two skirts the other day, one NB and one runningskirt.com - on the runningskirt one, I went with the size 3 athletic skirt that was on sale, and I tried the Disney08 discount code, even though I read somewhere that it was only good until Aug 31, we will see if I get the discount.

Need to get going, have some more phone calls to make before leaving for dentist!

Hi everyone! I had a busy weekend - lots of running around to get errands done and my sister was having a birthday dinner. DF also went shopping for running shoes. He's worn a hole in the heels of the shoes he has now. I'm not sure if the shoes were defective or a poor fit. We went to the New Balance store and they were having a promo where you'd get free jacket with purchase so he said I could have the jacket :thumbsup2 I think it will be good for running in cooler weather but not really cold weather.

Scott - Hope you feel better soon! The apple pie sounds yummy!! I didn't realize that you could make stuff from crab apples. There are a lot of them in our neighbourhood and I'm forever stepping or crushing them when I'm out running.

Lynn - Which colour skirt did you get?

Dave - Congrats on the race!! The panda logo sounds cool! We had rain and wind last night. It was very humid during the day and just after dinner, the rain and winds arrived. It looks like it's cleared up today though.

Pssssssssst , Sue, did you see my miles last week? That's where my time went. Balance is not something I achieve very well but I'm trying!

Hi, everyone!

Connie had a rough day today. She was by herself and seemed like everything that could go wrong, did. She was going to head to bed early. I hope tomorrow will be a better day!

I am working long hours this week so that I can take Thursday and Friday off to go down to Connie's, so not much exercising to report.

Dave, congrats on your race!

Denise, the quilt block is beautiful. I'm glad the bride enjoyed her shower!

Eva and Scott, hope you're back up to speed very soon! Margie, your foot still sounds......awful! I must have missed reading what it was you did to it.

Everyone else, keep up the good work. I'm off to bed early myself -- too much grandkids this weekend! :scared1:

I did get a short fast run in this morning, and just at the end had to briefly stop to hack up some crud. Will shoot for a 5 K tomorrow.

Our weather has been great, sunny fall like days, just wonderful, now if I werent stuck in the office this week. Oh well.

Columbus next week. Training class.

Went home last night and crashed. Mark came home around 7 from work. I had my usual headache from not working out. So.......I said Tomorrow for sure we have to walk. Mark says - why not go out now? Cool enough to do it tonight - I wanted relief so off we went in the dark with my flashy-thingy hooked to my butt to make sure we could be seen in traffic. Saw the full moon over the city with a few clouds. It's where we usually see the sun rising in the morning. Good times, and after about mile 1 my neck felt better.

So I have started again, and Connie has some miles from Mark.

Dave will send you a PM about the logo - we did discuss it briefly on our cooldown.

Good morning y'all.

Scott I watched the show yesterday. Different from what I expected. I can understand the frustration. Where is Charles Bronson when you need him to make house calls.

Princess Erica and I are heading off to walk, not sure how far yet, she hasn't told me. She sure is looking good, she is dropping inches, but since she is exercising the weight is not dropping as fast. But as Denise said the inches are what counts.

Connie, feel better dear friend.

Margie hope you can find some me time today. I know being a grammy nanny can tax your time.

Will it be getting cold in Canada by the end of Oct at ToT time?

Kathy, keep Connie sane for us.

Good Morning Team!

Scott - Hope you feel better soon! The apple pie sounds yummy!! I didn't realize that you could make stuff from crab apples. There are a lot of them in our neighbourhood and I'm forever stepping or crushing them when I'm out running.

I was going to make crabapple jelly, but we did not get enough crab apples for that, I found the crabapple butter in a cook book - I would not have thought about that, but it works good with smaller quantity of fruit!
Lynn - Which colour skirt did you get?

I got the turquoise in the runningskirt.com, and in the NB skirt I got the dark blue and gray one.

Eva - I'm counting on that saying that being under trained is better than being over trained!

I think we all rely on this saying!!!!!

Because life intervened, I did not get out yesterday (a dentist appt I forgot about, spending hours on the phone w/DVC and travelguard insurance, because when we booked the Adventures by Disney trip to Peru, (Sept. 22, 2009 if anyone else would like to join us), the DVC person did not tell us we needed to buy the insurance the same day, when we called back to DVC after talking to the ABD folks, they were closed as we called right at 5:30pm, when I called DVC back yesterday morning, that is when I was told about the insurance, I explained that we were not told that ( I think the fact that the original DVC gal did not even take a credit card number to charge the booking fee to gave some credit to my claims that she did not inform us about the insurance), DVC said they would send and exception for me to travel guard - which they did, but travel guard says it will take a few days for them to make the decision on whether or not to accept the exception - so I still do not know if we can get travel insurance for this trip!)

As Scott said, today is another beautiful day, and I do plan to get the dogs out today for a walk before heading to the basement and staining the bookshelves. Yesterday I finished sanding them, then cleaning off all the sanding dust - I started staining, and got 2 shelved done in 2 hours! It was hard due to narrow shelves, the larger shelves should be easier, I will have room to brush the stain on!

Have a great day everyone!

Scott, I'm jealous of that Adventures by Disney Trip. They all look great to me.

Lynn, I'm another running skirt addict. I did break down and buy a pair of shorts instead, because I needed them right away.

I forgot to post yesterday, but I did a nice 3 mile run at a 9 mpm pace. It was "hot" yesterday and felt like summer. I also did my first strength training class in about six months. All I have to say, is it felt sooo good but I'm so sore. I'm hoping that the strength training will help push me to that next level in my running.

Best,
jennifer

Hi everyone! I'm heading over to DF's house after work and meant to go for a run but I took the wrong bag and left half my gear at home. So much for preparing everything the night before :rotfl: I thought about going home to run but realized that my running shoes are at his house! I really need a second pair of running shoes!!

Dave - When is ToT? If it's close to Halloween sometimes it does get pretty cold. As a kid, I remember wearing winter jackets and mittens to go trick-or-treating. It makes some of the costumes a little bulky but I guess it's part of living in Canada :goodvibes (unless you live in a condo or apartment).

Lynn - Is that the black and turquoise skirt? That's the one I bought too :) I couldn't decide between that one and the aqua/camo colour.

Connie - Lots of  and pixiedust: for a speedy recovery! I hope you feel better soon.

Scott - I had been thinking about a Disney Adventures trip. I really like the Peru, South Africa and Amalfi trips.

Margie - Sounds like your foot is slowly getting better?

Sue - That's some crazy weather we've been having... I was shocked by the humidity on Sunday! Are you looking forward to fall?

Take care everyone!

Kathy - That's great news about Connie!! I hope you give her a big hug from all of us!!

Jennifer - NP about the Higdon stuff. I am a researcher by nature and can usually find some really helpful info. It's in my Capricorn nature :)

Vicky - You sound like me how you forgot your stuff. I run our at my parents house sometimes and I always forget something. Last time I was so happy because I had everything then I went to take a shower after my run and realize I had forgotten a bra to wear for the rest of the day!

Denise - What a cute picture!!!

Lynn - I'm super jealous about the DVC ABD trip!!

Scott - Hope you are feeling better! I got a Z-Pak that knocked mine out pretty quick.

Dave - Hope all is well with your new venture!

I am about to hop off to get ready for work. I've been pretty busy since we got home from Disney. Got so far behind on stuff between that and being sick. Sounds like everyone is hanging in there!!

I was so anxious to get back out Monday night and knew it helped me a lot. I don’t sleep very well most nights so for me to sleep through the night on Monday was a blessing – short as it was 11:00pm – 4:30 am. I was so tired yesterday I could barely move, I think the pressure of last week caught up with me finally. I crashed last night. We were suppose to go for our usual 5 miles after work but Mark had to take his mom to the Dr’s during the day so he had to work lake. Figures business has been slow lately and now that he’s super busy, ah well you know the drill. He didn’t get home till 8pm last night so a 14 hour day – early to bed but we just could not get going this morning. I actually woke myself up from snoring! Shhhhhhh don’t tell anyone… I do feel refreshed today so depending on the how the rest of the day goes, we may make it out tonight.

Connie, glad your doing better, and now you’ll have a friend to keep you busy for a few days.

Dave & Erica, hope your doing well – Erica I understand about the weight but the inches are important too. Found a pair of pants this morning that I could not wear and are now loose. We’ll get there, one inch at a time!

Eva good luck on the race
WP, isn’t Fall in New England the best! We won’t talk about winter……..

The rest of you, take care

Good Morning Team!

I am waiting on the plumber, he should be here any minute, so this may end quickly!

The dogs and I did get out for 6 miles yesterday! It was great to get out after 3 days of little exercise. May not make it out today because of the plumber, but Scott did say last night that he would go for a walk with me this evening, if I did not get out earlier. The staining is taking up more time than I expected, I have put in 8 hours so far, and have only done the first coat on half the bookshelves - I still have the bar front, the doors, the DVD shelves and the other half of the bookcase, and it will take 3 coats of stain to match the color of the bar cabinets!! Hopefully, the second and third coats will go faster - but I still have to sand in between coats! I do not think I will get this project done by Friday!

Vicki - the skirt I got from runningshirts was solid turquoise, it was on the sale page, so I think it is a discontinued color. The black and turquoise is the color I would have gone with if I had gone with a full priced one.

Connie - pixiedust: for you, hope you feel better soon!

Kathy - take good care of Connie for us!

Eva - you will do great on your first half! I was very nervous before my first one, so I know how you feel. That was just a year ago!

Have a great day everyone!

Eva- I'm usually a researcher/planner too, but for some reason that urge doesn't hit me with my running. go figure.

Margie- Take care of your foot.

Is it just like me or do lots of us seem to be getting hurt? I guess it's just that point in training.

As for me, I did a 40 minute tempo run. I got 4.5 miles for an average pace of 8:45. My top mile (which was basically a straight stretch) was 7:45.

Another full weekend ahead but will get some miles in for sure. May try to do more than my usual 5 as it will be cooler.

Hello team! I'm a busy, busy bee lately. Today I have to carpool with Jordan to work then hopefully get out a little early because I have a wedding to go to. I'm scheduled til 5, but the ceremony is at 5:30 and it's an hour and a half drive to get there. Here's the bride and groom...my great friend Ben and his lovely lady Sabrina:

I won't get to run today, but I'm planning on 4 miles tomorrow night (after another long day of work) and 3.5 miles on Sunday...followed by (my last long run before the half) of 10 miles on Monday.

Dave - We miss you lately...you are one busy man!!

Margie - I remember waiting for my dad at the Detroit Free Press finish line when I was a little girl. I actually was in the paper with my mom because it was cold and rainy and she had me all bundled up so cute that they took a picture. :goodvibes Anyhow...I'd love to run it some day to make my dad proud...we need a full race report!!

Diane - Nice to see you again! Out of curiosity...do you like football on your own or was it after a mans coaxing? My DBF is trying so hard year after year to get me to enjoy Browns games with little luck. I got into it by the end of last year, but it fell to the wayside.

Jennifer - What kind of cross training and strength training do you do?

Scott/Lynn - You guys have inspired me to get moving on our bedroom. We have had very stubborn wallpaper that we could not get off. Tried DIF, tried, vinegar water, tried fabric softener...nothing works. We just end up gauging the drywall. Well, we have decided to buy a steamer and see if that works. Then we will need to skim over the gauges, prime and paint. Ugh. You guys make home improvement seem easy!

Vicky - How's that hip? Mine was hurting pretty bad after my 6 miles yesterday.

To the rest of the team...stay strong!!

Eva, when we were doing the living room, patience was the best method for removing the wall paper. A lot of hot water, after scoring and then wait. We tried all the stuff you mentioned - not the fabric softener but I was so ticked one day, I took out my steam iron and used it on the walls. In some areas it seemed to help in others - nothing. We are finally wallpaper free!

Good luck, have fun at the wedding, cute couple!

Jennifer, your are a fast one and an inspiration, way to go.

Dave our stalwart sage. Where is Erica we miss her. Full moon so she might be busy at work.

Vicky and Connie hang in there.

Got in 3.4 miles this morn, might take tomorrow off as we haev about 200 sf of floor tile to put down. Film at 11:00. Weather is forcast for rain and then get a long run in sunday morn before we grout hte tile. Might trim out an exposed beam in the theater room.

Good Morning Team!

Did not get any walks in yesterday - spent from 9am to 5:30pm in basement staining! Today, the dogs and I will get for a walk, then we need to prep the floor of the basement for tomorrows tile - scraping off all the plaster that accumulated from taping the drywall, then texturing the walls. Once that is done, it should really cut down the dust in the basement, and I can clean up the rest of it without thinking that the dust will just settle back as soon as I am done! I still have quite a bit of staining to do, but I have finished the high parts of the bookcase so that we can take out the scaffolding - would not want to run the scaffolding over newly layed tile, and I have done the kick plates. I still have the lower half of the bookcases to do, and the DVD storage shelves (they are in the part of the room that will be carpeted, so I just need to get them done before we get the carpet folks in.) And all the doors still need to be stained. So, I guess I will still be busy staining for the next couple of weeks!

Weather here has been good, sunny and not too hot! Great for walking and running!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi, everyone! I'm at Connie's and before she said "Don't do that! :scared1: " I had logged her out and me in. Now she says she doesn't know if she remembers her password and may never be logged in again! Somehow, I think she will........:)

She is doing well. I drove her to her dr's appt yesterday afternoon. He said she's healing well and has permission to remove her sling 3 or 4 times a day and gently move her arm around. It was kind of a long afternoon as we did a little shopping, too. We possibly did not make the best choices for food to eat while I am here......What do you mean that candy corn is not a vegetable????? :lmao: However, we DID show some restraint......two packages tried to jump into our basket, but we managed to check out with only one! :thumbsup2 We will probably watch some movies today. popcorn::

My drive down was blessedly uneventful. I saw some antelope a few times, but that was all the wildlife. Which is mostly good. I don't want to see anything right in front of my car!!! I will make the trip back in one fell swoop on Sunday - well a very long swoop. It takes about 8 hours IF you don't mess around with stuff like stopping to sit down and eat INSIDE a restaurant or take too many potty breaks.

Eva - you'll do great on your half! I remember how nervous I was before my first big race, but it was completely unnecessary. I personally always find the big races a little nerve-wracking because I don't like being in large crowds of people. Once you're out there, though, and the crowd thins, it's all good!

Margie, good luck! I hope your foot will let you do the longer miles without giving you too much trouble!

Denise, I continue to be amazed at how much you can get done. No wonder you don't sleep much......you don't have time! :lmao: Thank Mark for his contributions!

Dave, I'm sure more people will show up for your class once word gets around. I know from being in classes at the gym that attendance kind of ebbs and flows. It sounds great and I wish I could be in your class! Tell Erica hi from me!

Scott and Lynn - your house is going to be fabulous when you're done. I'm not too far down the road from you......maybe I will have to run up and see it - and YOU - one of these days!

Diane - nice to have you back!

Jen - you go, girl!

Good morning everyone! I finally booked my airfare yesterday for January! The airline I'm flying on started including the fuel surcharge on the ticket price (instead of listing it with the taxes). Since I booked my ticket on points, that fuel surcharge was now covered under the ticket price and I ended up saving $100 :yay:

Jen - You are one fast runner! I can run at about 9:00 m/m but not for very long or very far.

Lynn - Sounds like your basement is coming along nicely! Do you have any updated pictures?

Eva - My half is on the same weekend as yours! Except I'll be running on Sunday. My hip is doing better, I think it will hold up for the race. I noticed that I tend to get more achy once I start running more than 6 miles. That said, I wish I had been able to train more than I did. My longest run so far has only been 7 miles so I think I'll probably run slower for the first half and then go at my normal pace for the last half.

Margie - Stay strong! I hope you're able to do your long walk this weekend :)

Margie yes, I often do several things in one day to get the "Time in Motion" in, that is more important that miles. If a half is 3 hours then 3 hours of motion will be excellent training.

Kathy, take good care of our sweet Captain. We need her healthy.

Everyone have a wonderful and restful evening.

Morning Kids,

Basement project after breakfast, got workouts downloaded from Ipod and Garmin.

Will have to tote about 300 pounds of tile to the basement LOL good upperbody and stairs. Film at 11:00.

Have a great weekend,

Any suggestions for stuff to do in Columbus, I did see there is a replica of teh Santa Maria. Temos should eb good for morning runs.

Want to get a long one in tomorrow.

The moon has been really pretty here in the morn, the big dipper and Orion are out and the dipper is getting ready to scoop life from mother earth, (native American Legend - relates to the position of the dipper during the various seasons)
59 hours at work this week and looks like after this weekend no days off for a couple of till after the first week of Oct.

Scott, someone who has never been out on the sea on a clear moonless night has no idea of the number of stars and stuff up there. I was amazed the first time I saw the night sky that way. Imagine what the heavens looked like before there was any pollution spoiled the view.

Last night I was craving junk food, so if your going to give in you might as well go all the way to the deepest part of hell for it. I stopped on the way home for the the ultimate bottom feeder junk, I stopped at White Castle and got cheese burgers and fries. ( You have to fall off the wagon sometimes right) Anyway this morning my body is blaming me for what I did. Since I normally eat a very good diet, the junk caused a minor mutiny inside me. I won't be doing this again soon. Not till I forget how I'm feeling this morning.

This mornings workout if it happens is going to be just some pool work, I think a good fast treadmill workout would result in something unpleasent happening. I'm not a very big guy and I have an idea that if I hurl on one off those bodybuilders, that look a lot like a T-Rex, I'll get more workout than I want.

Scott I'm sure you will agree on this. It's wonderful to find sites like this and DisneyRunning.com it helps you remember that there are some really good people out there on the net. Sometimes it seems that the net is just full of ugliness and meanness.

OMG Dave you make me laugh. My son Nick is a freak about White Castle and the only way we can get them here is at Sam's club in the frozen section. I bought a couple of boxes a few weeks ago gave him one and Mark and had be try a bite of his. I guess I just don't see the big deal but then again it was frozen not fresh. My turkey burgers are way better. Anyway we did give the 2nd box to NIck and he was thrilled. KIDS!

When we were in NYC in July we saw one near the huge Post Office. Hope was going to stop in and call Nick send him a picture of the place via phone photo but thought better of it.

I remember once having to eat something bad when our bodies are craving FAT I ate 5 Oreo cookies. I felt better and then moved on and back to my better ways. While I'm not as good as you I am better than in years past and of course I too pay the price for not listening to the little voice that says YOUR GONNA EAT THAT??? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR F*&))^ING MIND? I've had to cut short a few walks because of my diet :rolleyes1 Not pretty!

Today is another day full of temptations, one step at a time both in eating and walking, have a good one!

A few weeks ago I mentioned how we walk in the dark and how there are very few people up at 5am. I wondered who saw us walking and now and then when it's later in the walk we see people sitting having coffee, reading the morning paper and I usually wave hello.

Last night was our first Quilt Guild meeting for the year, we run like the school year, Sept -June. One of my quilter friends is a woman older than me and her husband a retired Chief of Police live on our route, we go by their house first thing in the morning about 5am and then on our second round around 5:45. I guess her husband is up on the first round and see's us and his comment was -- There goes those crazy friends of yours". I sometimes wonder, are we crazy getting up at 4:40, out the door by 4:50 for an hour plus of race walking? Well I did buy a pair of pants yesterday that fit pretty darn good, a cute shirt and of course warmer race shirt for those cooler days. No I"m not crazy but it's nice to know that a retired police chief is watching our moves.......hopefully if we don't show up the second time around, he may come looking for us...:rotfl:

Since it's cooler at night now, we're sleeping in till 5:00. Ahh the blessings of an extra 20 min and then an hour of sewing before work. Now that's crazy! - well not to me but to some it might be.

I came home immediately soaked in a cold bath, iced my foot and it truly feels okay. :goodvibes

:hippie: Thanks, I will not feel so bad if I have to do a split longer walk now!

Kat, Vicky, and Everyone else- Thank you as always for all your support! It's always nice to hear someone tell you you're fast/good after you feel like it was a tough run.
Eva- I vary the cross training. Some times I do Salsa-robics class or a Step class other times I do an elliptical or a stairmaster.

As for me, yesterday was an off day and today I did an hour on the elliptical. Oh and I went shopping. I got a new pair of tights (seeing as we're in a cold front though not that cold, yet...) at Marshalls. They were Nike ones that normally retail for $50, but were there for $15. I also go a pair of capri style tights at Tarfet for when it's slightly colder. And since I'm now actually starting to hit some mileage on my long runs and will soon be doing over an hour on them, I stopped by the running store (Marathon Sports for anyone who's interested) and got a hydration pack and my first ever GUs.

Best,
Jennifer

Well I am one of those crazy morning folks, up and out the door by 0500. I love the quiet, the stars , the sunrise, I do wear some reflective items and started to carry a flashy light belt clip, it is one made for bicycles and I modified it for my fannu pack.

We did get the floor tile laid this morn afternoon, started at 7:20ish and finished up at 4:30 ish, we took not breaks at all, we are tried, went to dinner at Old Chicago, appitizers we 2.99 each. nice cheap meal.

Lynn says she wil take pics tomorrow after we grout the tile. Want to get a run in tomorrow, bet we will be sore in the morn.

Scott this must be bug week. I went out with the dog to pee, the dog not me, and as I was stretching in the sun I was attacked by one of those huge locusts. It hit me in the side and I nearly pulled something trying to turn to fast to see what had a hold of me. Then it took off for the trees making that buzzy noise things they do. I realize now that the buzz is actually bug laughter.

You and Lynn don't have pups you have a sled team.

Margie glad to hear you are beating the PF and getting that little foot healed up. You will do super at the Detroit next month.

Rest day for me. Tomorrow my Princess and I will do an LSD together.

Scott, sounds like you and Lynn are plenty busy!

Panda, crazy bug story.

As for me, today was my long run. According to map my run it was 6.25 miles (according to me getting lost it was probably closer to 6.33-6.4) in 57 minutes (roughly a 9:10 mpm pace). I have to say the energy gels and hydration packs are the most amazing inventions ever and may have been the equipment my running has been missing. I felt like I could have easily gone another couple of miles. Oh and it was warm for the season around 72 and sunny.

So, my last race time is over a month old, anyone want to help me revise my pace prediction for my 10k?

Best,
Jennifer

So the tileis down, Lynn will have some staining on the bookcases and cleaning up the grout residue. Best investment we made this weekend was a new set of knee pads for me (old ones were shot) and a pair for Lynn. That was a bunch of work about a total of 28 man hours, we are pooped and the Jacuzzi tub felt good.

Getting closer to being done.

Scott and Lynn, must have sympathy pains. As I was locking the door on my way out this morning, I pulled a muscle in the middle of my back. I feel you pain!! Drugs will help either that or a shot of some sort of liquor tonight!

Well the family did 5 miles last night. Nick came along as he's starting to train for the 1/2 little bugger ran almost the whole 5 miles. So I will PM my miles to Connie and - Mark did 20 for you last week so your set.

Good morning, folks!

I am back home and getting ready to head out to work. I spoke to Connie a couple of times on my way home yesterday and it sounds like she spent most of her day sleeping off and on. That's good, because she's unable to get comfortable enough to sleep for long periods at a time, so if she can sleep more often, that will help! We had a nice time and, if nothing else, she was able to get out of her house! She is unable to drive herself just yet, so leaving the house every now and then is a treat! :cutie:

I ate hideously while at Connie's and did my nails this morning instead of my step tape. :guilty: OH, well. I guess I will have ease myself back into my healthy routine rather than jumping. I'll get to water aerobics in the morning and eat well today.

Make it a great Monday!

Hey team! I know I've been absent in my writing lately, but I assure you I have been keeping up and reading posts. Just busy with alot of running around. My ex husband is losing his house and because he never filed the quit claims deed that I signed during the divorce in 05, I am still on the title (and there for and being dragged into it legally). I was given a summons to court and everything!! Ugh. I met with my lawyer again yesterday and he has completed a legal response to the summons and whipped up a quit claims deed for us to file. I should have had legal advise in the first place or this wouldn't have happened. :sad2: The thing that peeves me is that when I moved out of that house he had 3 of his buddy's move in to pay rent. He made more than twice my current income and could have paid for the mortgage comfortably. I have no idea what has happened and why he's losing the house, but it doesn't really surprise me. OK...so now that I'm worked up again I think I'm going to change the subject. Moving on...

So...Jordan and I worked on our bathroom a bit last night. We had had an awful sliding door placed over a tub and we ripped it out to put one of those curved shower curtains in. I have yet to use it (I will in about 30 minutes) but Jordan said he loves it. He's so tall and has such wide shoulders that he had been so cramped in there before. Then we went to Disney and they have the curved curtains and I thought  ...that's what we need. The problem is that the tiles had been drilled for the old doors and we now have unsightly holes to file. Eventually, we need to redo the whole bath and retile anyways.

Jennifer - I think 55.3 minutes is a good goal for the 10K. You are so fast that it's hard to pinpoint what you are capable of!!

Denise - My mom actually bought that book "Eat This, Don't Eat That" where those stats were pulled from. It's an amazing book!! I might go get a copy for myself. Anyhow thanks for sharing...it's crazy how unhealthy a seemingly healthy meal can be. 1102 calories in a grape flavored smoothie!?!

Scott/Lynn - The basement looks amazing!!

Margie - 8 miles with NO PAIN! :woohoo:

Kathy - Glad you made it home ok! Thanks from all of us for taking Connie out and about. I'm sure she needed it!

Dave - That locust story reminds me of the move Lucas...have you ever seen it? It's an underdog, feel-good type of move...with a whole scene about a locust!!

Training - Ran my last LR yesterday before my half. 10 Miles at an 11.02 pace. My goal for the half is (firstly, to not get swept) to finish in 2:30 or less. I have a easy 3 miles today and an easy 2 miles tomorrow, followed by 2 days of rest. Packet pick up is Friday and I think we will drive the course to see how hilly it is. My problem is...I want to carry my phone, but usually carry it in a pocket in my handheld water bottle. I won't need the bottle, but won't have anywhere for my phone. Anyone have any ideas? I'm not big on wearing anything on my waist..it rubs and annoys me after about 5 miles. Should I take my bottle anyways?

OK guys...I'm off to test the new shower!! Train safe! :grouphug:

Ok Made it to Columbus, went out for a three mile run this morn, kind of a kick back day at the Conference. When I called home Lynn was struggling with the dried grout on the floor, she was working her ...... off getting it cleaned up. I feel so bad, wish I was there to help her, she is a trooper and strong of heart, that is what makes her soooo special to me and why I am so lucky to have her as a spouse, partner, best friend etc etc for the past 30 years, besides she is the only person that would put up with me,

Eva, good luck with teh shower, go slow drilling the tile,

Kathy thanks for taking care of Connie, I know that uncomforatable feeling it will pass, just getting there is no fun,

Margie no pain how KEWL!!!!

Dave yes TOT soon come. (That is Bahamian for the Tower of Terror Race is just around the corner and we will soon be there)

Lynn should get some upper body credit fr all teh scrubbing she is doing.

Denise, the book sounds interesting, afirms what we already know.

Jennifer you speed demon you, keep up the great work, getting stronger every day.

Eva, re carrying your phone etc, I haev a variety of fanny packs, I tend to use a small one from (I think brand is fuel belt) to carry Ipod or cell phone. I use a Mickey Cell phone holder on the waist band, the next size up carries both plus ID money etc, I then have a bigger fanny pack that I carry when I travel and run in the early mornings in the city where the elements might not be friendly, and I can carry the tools of my trade as needed. There was an attack last night here in Columbus near the Campus. I did pick up a 4 bottle model with an add on pocket , have not tried it yet. Best ADVICE I CAN GIVE IS MAKE SURE IT WORKS BEFORE YOU RACE WITH IT>>>> I just checked and it is a Fuel Belt. WWW.fuelbelt.com

enjoy the day

Think of Lynn as she is working really hard. She is the Bestest. I gotta find her a nice present.

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around the past few days. I've just been busy with lots of little things here and there and finishing up training for my 1/2 this Sunday. I'm hoping to meet up with Kim (Hockeychic) either before or after the race. I think I'll have to send her a PM, I haven't seen her here lately.

I have to admit that I had thoughts of dropping out. Not sure why - I know I can finish but for some reason was just really nervous about not being ready and being swept. I talked to my PT yesterday and he said that I should go and do it. He said that if I quit because I felt I wasn't ready, I would always use it as my excuse.

Eva - Sorry to hear about the problems with your ex and the house  What a pain! For my 1/2, I'm hoping for around 2:30 as well. I'm going to take my cell in my SpiBelt or FuelBelt. I don't think I'll need fluid since there will be water stops. But I always think ... "What if..."

Jennifer - I would be thrilled if I could run a 10K in less than an hour :) I thought of you this weekend when I was doing hill training. I was able to go up the hill several times at 9:30 m/m.

Scott/Lynn -The basement looks amazing! I can definitely see all the hardwork that gone into it. I'm all thumbs when it comes to that stuff so I'm definitely impressed :)

Dave - I don't think I've seen a locust before but I've come across lots of bugs during my runs. I'm most afraid of bees and wasps.

Denise - Those are some crazy calories! I have to admit that I do like Cinnabon

Speaking of bugs…….. Sunday afternoon/dinner time the 4 of us went out for our walk and I had on a lime green shirt. A running shirt with the little zipper pocket in the back. It’s very comfortable and I usually wear that if I’m not wearing one of my WISH shirts.

We get to a point on the walk and I feel Mark brush my shirt. A bug has landed on the back. Then he brushes it again and again, and then Miranda brushes me and finally Nick. All little black dots that look like soot or a speck of dirt. Well Nick was a bit too hard and smeared the bug on my shirt. How weird is that? After we left that stretch it didn’t happen again and then when we hit that area the 2nd time around it didn’t happen either. Wonder if it was just at the right time. Mark and Nick were wearing black and Miranda was in white so it must have been the green that attracted them. Thought bugs were colorblind?

Margie, Scott, and Eva thanks for the support! I've been doing some training with the cross country team (one of my good friends is captain) and they tried to convince me to run for them (sadly I don't have the time to commit to that schedule) and am about middle of the pack. I love how you guys always make me feel fast.

Vicky, nice to know you "enjoyed" your hills too. I've yet to find a flat route that's longer than 3 miles, plus I like variety.

As for me, I ran 5.5 miles at an 8:50 pace and it felt comfortable to slow. I've noticed that my first run after strength training always feels this way. It's like I look at the time and know I going fast but my legs just don't feel it. I don't know if that's good or bad. :confused3

Also I think I mentioned this a while back, but with it coming up soon, please send some prayers and/or pixie dust this way. Thursday afternoon I find out if I get an interview for Teach for America (my first choice for after graduation), so keep you fingers crossed.

Hi Team.

I really think we need a road trip and a team meeting at Scott and Lynn's place. I think the bar needs christening (sp).

We could celabrate Jennifer's new job.

Princess Erica and I did 10 hot miles on a new route. About a third of it was at a new soccer complex park. Since it is off season it was just a nice green place to walk.

Everyone knows my theory of walking in a park being better for you since the trees and grass give off Oxgyen and absorb the carbon dioxide making the air very fresh and clean.

Everyone have a super evening filled with love and rest.

I want you to know that I carried that 300 pounds of tile downstairs on Saturday!!!!! - 35 trips up and downstairs, then Sunday it was an equal number of trips with buckets of water (I did not want to dump all that debris from the grout into our pipes and septic system!). Monday I started cleaning the grout off the tile at 7am - I finished at 4:30am Tues, with one break for a run to Lowes for more scrubbing sponges! After a few hours of sleep, I got up, went shopping for food, picked up a few books on tape from the library, and went back downstairs to wash off and buff the tile - then some staining! Finished up that by 9pm! The dogs have been ignored for 2 days! Today, we will get out for a walk, it will be a slow one at first, need to work out all the kinks in the muscles!

Scott did not mention that he loves those White Castle things!!! Give me a candy bar or ice cream bar any day:lmao:

Vicky - don't quit the race because you do not feel ready - remember the mantra - being undertrained and healthy is better than being overtrained and injured!!!!!

Kathy - you are welcome anytime - of course, we might put you to work!!!

I do not think bugs are colorblind - why are teetse flys attracted to blue? why do bees like bright (flower) colors? - this could not happen if bugs could not see colors!!!!!

I carry my cell phone in a pocket - I really am frustrated when I pick up a pair of shorts or skirt that does not have at least a pocket for my cell phone and a pocket for my I-POD! (That is one reason I love the race ready shorts with all the pockets in the back! - I wear them for racing.) I wear the fanny pack for my water, the dog water and the puppy poop bags! Racing, I have a small fanny pack for water, snacks, etc.

Need to get hours to Connie, I am very late this week, then a walk before heading back to the basement - those books are tape are a lifesaver!

Have a great day everyone!

Lynn, my back aches for you. I think it’s high time you go for a massage!! Both you and Scott deserve it! My massage therapist just had a baby so I have to wait till 10/16 for her return.

We did our miles last night and did a lot of laughing the first mile. Miranda was as crazy as ever so our time wasn’t great but boy we sure did have a good time. I have quilting bee tonight so miles will have to be tomorrow and then a dinner on Friday night so again our miles will have to wait.

But life’s good if the economy goes down the tubes, I have a good family, good friends and a lot of wonderful memories. What more could I want, well that winning powerball would be beneficial.

hi, everyone.

thanks for all the miles and pixie dust. it means a lot to me. I have permission to do the treadmill, but i am just so tired still, that just doing a few chores around is exhausting. I feel like loading the dishwasher is almost as good as a goofy.

I am doing my limited exercise that I am allowed to do with my arm, i lean over and do these itty bitty circles with my hand. i do them 2 x a day and then i ice. I like the machine for that. plus, I always have a cold drink to hand. :lmao:

well, off to rest, some more. you are all doing so well. quilts, basements and races all look great. i do have all the time and miles entered in that i have recieved. someone needs to tell our wonderful maker of spreadsheets that we are missing october overall results.

Happy Wednesday, everyone.

Very busy at work....home....life in general.

Up for track work this evening. I think my times will be a little slower then Jen's.

Lynn, You made me tired just thinking out all those trips up & down the stairs.

Vicky, Weather looks great for Sunday. FYI had some issues last year with the Garmin. Lost signal when running under the Gardiner & around Bay St with the bank buildings. Don't go out too fast. Save a little for the end back up Bay Street. You have to do it for the bling. Much nicer then last year. Enjoy the race. You'll do great. I'm sure it's just pre-race nerves.

Eva, Enjoy your race.

Scott, Team Astana & Contador is already whining. "I've earned the right to be the leader of a team without having to fight for my place" Boo-Hoo!!!

Connie, Glad to see you online.

Dave, Enjoying reading your blog.

Happy Training.....Sue

Hello team!! Just waking up after a LONG night of sleep. This is the first Thursday since April that I slept in instead of running! I work later on Thursdays so I normally do my mid-week longer short run on Thursdays, but with the race coming only two days away it's a rest day! :woohoo:

I'm a planner and plotter so the race is in my head BIG TIME....all of the details that I'm trying to work out. When should I take my gu, do I carry my bottle since that's what I'm use to, should I revise my playlist on my iPod, where do my parents meet me, what should I eat the night before, should I stick to my normal peanut butter toast and banana before the race....on and on. My head is spinning!! :crazy2:

First of all...Connie!! - Glad to see you online!! Keep doing those exercises!! I'm so glad I stuck to me exercise regimen after my surgery. It hurt REALLY bad, but you will heal faster and in a proper way if you keep up with them!!

Vicky - You will do great!! As Jordan keeps telling me, once you get out there with all of the people you'll get pumped and it'll be easier that you know!

Sue - Nice to see you! Do you train with a group at the track?

Erica - Look at you sexy mama!! You up for that Garmin yet?!

Denise - It's nice that you have your family to walk with. I get lonely out there...it'd be nice to have somebody to laugh with while I train. You are very lucky to have them!!

Lynn - You must have some tired arms after all of that!! You'll be all toned up and looking like Sarah Connor (from T2) after all of this basement stuff!!

Jennifer - I have been wanting to get to the track for speedwork. I tend to do more fartlek, tempo and pace runs to compensate for my lack of track work. I just feel dumb going out there alone...and I don't have a group or know any other runners around here. Ehh..maybe next marathon I can throw that into my training.

Dave - I agree with the girls...chocolate rocks!! Oh and the White Castle...you were asking for punishment with those things!! I used to eat them alot when I was going to the bar 4 nights a week...they always tasted so good after a few beers. Then again I gained quite a bit of weight during that part of my life. Now I drink one or two light beers a week and eat veggie burgers. Oh how my life has changed! :upsidedow

To the rest of our wonderful team...I keep forgetting to tell you all that I searched every pin station from DTD to Main Street and there was not a Pumbaa & Timon pin to be found. NOT A ONE! I even asked a few people and they said they hadn't seen any in awhile but to check the disneypins website. So I did...and it appear they have only release one pin with them on it this year way back in Feb and it was a Cast Pin (which means you can't buy it). There are a couple others that you can mail order, but nothing that stood out as an option. Here the website if you guys want to take a look:

http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/search/results?pg=1&start=1&disp=20&val=0&keywords=timon&sort=date&order=desc

Anyhow..I'm off to walk my Chopper dog. Have a good one!
-Eva

How about the pin with the Timon, Pumba, and Simba walking across the log like we first used as our logo? See below.

Ihave been meaning to tell everyone (and kept forgetting. :confused3 )that I took you all into the operating room with me. I have a pair of white socks with black Mickey icons on them and I got to wear them all through surgery and I believe that with all that magic, I couldn't help but come out just fine!

Good Morning Team!

I did get out for 6 miles yesterday, and today did 3 miles first thing before breakfast! The dogs are happy! Beautiful weather here.

Spent the rest of the day again working on the floor - -trying to get off some more of the grout. After 6 hours of scrubbing the floor, spent a couple of hours staining. Today will be a marathon staining day - need to catch up, I am really behind because of all the time I have spent on the floor. Love those books on tape - I have gone thru 2 and 1/2 books so far, had to change batteries in my "walkman" thingie already! I am going to be really bummed when I finish my current book before I finish my project because that is the last one I have - Don't have time to get back to the library for replacements!

Erica - you look great!!!! Yes, I keep telling myself that I have been getting great workouts - but, somehow, that does not make it any easier:lmao:

Connie - great to see you posting again, keep up the exercises!

Dogs are bugging me to go outside - better get going - have great day!

Hi dear friends.

Connie, in addition to my regular 25 miles for me I'll have 5 miles for you. Hope that helps to whack the 3 pounds you put on with the steroids.

Margie, Erica is looking good, she will have look a lot different this trip than last January.

I had a good 4 mile walk this morning with my new thursday walking group. We averaged just under 12 mpm and the walk went by very fast. Fun to walk with people that haven't heard all my silly stories.

Lynn we have audio books to listen to on the trips.

Have a strong day everyone.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement everyone! I think it's just a bad case of nerves since it's my first 1/2. I got an e-mail last night that has my race number and packet pick up instructions. I'm going to head over tomorrow after work and hopefully I'll be able to meet up with HockeyChic!

Erica - I'll check out your pic when I get home. It's blocked at work :( so I can only see the mini one.

Sue - I've had weird problems with my Garmin downtown too. It has me going all over the place and it records the oddest pace. My friend refers to the downtown core as the concrete canyon. Thanks very much for the advice! I'm glad the course loops back to the start. No need to guess about the halfway mark...

Connie - So glad to see you back online! I was never fond of rehab exercises either but they do work.

Lynn - That was some workout! It sounds more intense than lifting weights at the gym!

Scott - Good luck with your presentation!

Dave - I'm really enjoying your blog! Tons of great advice ... and I hadn't heard of a horse furrier either :)

Eva - Good luck with your race! Are you taking a fuel belt with you? I've been having a little trouble with mine. For some reason, it wants to stay around my stomach instead of my hips. It tends to be more bouncy there but I can't figure out a way to keep it on my hips.

Take care everyone!!

Connie- Glad your back and that things went well! Keep feeling better!

Eva- I have to admit I prefer tempos to speedwork. I'm just not a track person, coupled with the fact that the track I use is 200m instead of 400m thus requiring more laps.
Good luck with race!

As for me, I went for an afternoon 4 miler at an 8:45 ish pace (35 minutes total). On top of that I got good news, I got through to next round of interviews for Teach for America!

Thanks for everyone's support as always!

Oh, and I'd totally love the pin thing.

Best,

This one? It's the closest one to the team logo that they have...

http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=25010

After shipping it would be about $35-$40. Seems a bit much for a pin, but if we were all interested, I'd be ok with it.

Yes, Eva, that's the one I was looking at. It is pricey, but I like it!

I will go look again, it may be too much for some of us.

My second favorite is on third page and the captions says "Share the Magic - Simba, Pumbaa, and Timon" The pin says, "Where Friends Share the Magic" That seems like OUR kind of message! and it's only $10.50 and perhaps.....available!

Love the Pins everyone!

Erica, great picture, isn't it nice to fit in slimmer jeans and feel good too.

Connie, great that your doing better.

Eva and Bunnyfoo - best of luck on race day!!! Remember it counts for double the miles for the team..

Mark and I did 5 tonight. Usually we do 1 mile and warm up and talk a bit then for the next 4 miles we use our shuffle which helps us with the pace and the music seems to make me move faster.

Tonight it was just the 2 of us and I thought with the financial situation at the moment it might be better if he let off some steam so I suggest no shuffles tonight. My kids can attest that once Mark gets worked up, there is no keeping up with him. Today he was pretty good considering the way things are going down on Wall Street and Washington DC.

So we did our 5, we talked - we didn't rant too much and came home to some wine, some cooked chicken and now the news. I can hear him in the kitchen (doing the dishes) yelling at the TV. Well at least talking loudly.......:scared:

Well we 're in this boat together. Good luck to us all. We may be poor but we'll be in great shape!

Hellllloooo TEAM!

Hello my name is Eva, and I too am poor. LOL...I had a few mini breakdowns this week but now I'm laughing at it. I'm reading this book called "The Money Book for the Young Fabulous and Broke", by Suze Orman. I just started and not all of the chapters apply to me (as I don't have student loans THANK GOD), but I think it might help. If Jordan and I want to start a family next year we have get get our money situation in shape. Baby clothes, diapers, formula, new cars...EEK!:scared1:

As far as the pins go...I may be broke, but seeing as how the marathon is a birthday present I think I can get my family to throw the pin in as well. We could always just buy the Simba hat (it was about the same price) LOL :rotfl:

Good Morning Team!!! Looks like a great day here in Wyoming.

Speaking of being in Wyoming - I know what a horse furrier is!!!!! (It is the person who shoes the horses). One of the guys I worked with was a horse furrier on the side.

That pin looks too fancy to wear around, it needs to be displayed somewhere, I do like the hat Eva, but would not like to run or walk in it!!! I thinks one of the simpler pins would be better to wear around. (I did not bring up the full picture and did not realize it was reversible until seeing Eva's post of it).

Eva and Vicky - good luck in your races this weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! Having a bit of foot pain today - it's in my left foot near my big toe joint (the part where the toe meets the foot). It hurts when I walk on it so to compensate I've been walking on the side of my foot. But of course that puts pressure on my knee so it seems I can't win. I managed to get an appointment with my PT tonight. For now, I'm just icing it and hoping it will get better.

Eva - That sounds like the book for me. Hello my name is Vicky and I am a shopaholic. You look too cute in the Simba hat :)

Dave/Erica - I read on the other thread that you might be coming to Toronto for the women's 1/2 in May! Yay!! I'm going to try and register for that today at the expo.

Connie - Sounds like the socks had a little extra PD in them!

Jen - Congrats! Best of luck on the second round of interviews.

Yes Vicky we are Canada bound for the May 31st race for women. I'm not racing since I want to have plenty of energy to pamper my princess after the race.

I had a super workout this morning, 3.5 miles of walk training with the last quarter mile at 10 mpm pace, that pace is feeling much easier, I'll be doing that pace for a mile at a time soon.

I had a good weight workout after the walk warm-up then finished with a good stretching routine.

Have a wonderfull day Y'all.

OK..I'm getting really nervous!!! :scared1:

Vicky - I use a handheld water bottle with a pocket on it. I can fit my phone in the zip pocket and my bluetooth in the mesh one. Yes...Jordan and I talk on the phone sometimes during my long runs. I had a fuelbelt and the same thing would happen with it going up on my waist. It annoyed the bejeebes out of me and I bought the handheld at the advice of a pro that works at my local running shop. She runs the 100 Mile Mohican and swears by handhelds so I figured I'd give it a shot. I can't stand anything on my waist now that I've gone without. I thnk I might sell my old belt on eBay (if anyone is interested).

I'll search around on eBay today and see if I can find some pins on there. Maybe we can all get different ones? As long as they have one of the Hakuna Matata guys (Simba, Pumbaa, Timon) on there then we'd know it's a team mate?

Anyhow...back to work. I'm so worked up over this race that I can't concentrate!!

OK..I just looked and there's tons of Timon and Pumbaa "Wild About Safety" Pins on eBay...they say "No Stampeding". Kinda appropriate considering the corrals and all...lol!

I was also at the Running Skirts booth and they told me if I wore my skirt on Sunday to watch out for their camera guy because they're making a new movie. I'll have to remember to suck my gut in if I see him

VR GREAT RACE!!!! I’m sure Vicky did great too!

Erica – Sleepzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Scott, Lynn – Basement looks GREAT

Connie- Mark and I did our miles so I’ll PM you about that.

PINS – We have an alternate idea – but I won’t post till details are ironed out with the Capt’s Connie and Dave.

Proud Mama Moment

For those of you who don’t know me – I have a family that loves to create. I quilt, my DH is a sign artist and is quite talented my DD is taking up the quilting bug and my son – who has always been the quiet one, went to school for Special Effects in Movies. Where can you use that degree in New Hampshire? Well this summer he was able to use that degree and worked on a film being shot locally. It was hard work, - long hours and many sleepless nights, but in the end he knew it was what he had always wanted to do. I do feel bad that because of finances he is unable to follow his dream but with connections and hopefully luck, his dream will come true along with more work.

The trailer for the Movie has been posted on Youtube. It is not holding back anything and the language is quite colorful. If your easily offended, don’t say I didn’t warn you but I thought it looked great.
