Tomorrow morning at 8-30am my Sam(la-la's Daddy)goes into the vet's to be put out to have his teeth+gums sorted,as he has the start of gum disease. Not sure what work will need to be done until he is under the anaesthetic so they can get a good look.He is an old boy at 15yrs,but they have said his heart, weight etc..is good for the anaesthetic. But we all worry about anaesthetic wether it be our family or our pets.So i am asking for some finger crossing and pixie dust that my baby boy pulls thru the aneasthetic without any worries.I will post an update when i hear from the vets tomorrow. Thanks everyone.x.

Thank you everyone  .
He is just having his last meal as he's not allowed anything after 7-30pm,so we left him till abit later than normal. His leg seems to be playing him up tonight-he fell out of our window(5 storeys up) where we you used to live about 6yrs ago.He ended up with a deformed front right leg+a fractured jaw which was hanging down+he knocked 3 teeth back into the gum-but thankfully he lived. He deffinatley used up all 9 lives that night.
Will deffinatley keep you all informed-i am going to be worried sick all day tomorrow.x.

***SMALL UPDATE***
Well my mum+grandad have just left with him to go to the vets.He was not a happy cat when the other 2 got brekkie this morning and he did'nt.He's still limping on his leg-but not as much as yesterday- i think it could be the start of his arthirits(which the vets said he could end up getting from the fall). It usually only lasts about a day+especially on cold days which we had yesterday.
I have'nt slept-i am shattered.I have been worrying about him :sad2: +then that got me thinking about La-La :sad1: (in my sig)so i have been up since 4-30am :scared1: .Well i best go,have to get dd7 ready for her first day at her new school. Will post an update later as soon as i hear anything.
Thanks again everyone  .x.
You are beautiful! :)
what an handsome puddy cat
Thank you,he knows it by the way-always poses when the cameras out-his son in my sig was so like him. Both fluff balls.x.

Oh Michelle, sending   , you really are a worrier but I can understand it - sometimes our emotions take over and there is nothing we can do and then we start to think and remember alsorts. Poor Sam it must have been heart breaking for him missing his breakfast - but it will soon all be over and he will be home again with you to love and care for him.

Michelle i know exactly what you are feeling right now. When our old cat was booked in to have his teeth cleaaned we got so worked up we had to cancel the appointment. Luckily his teeth weren't too bad and he lived to almost 17. What you have to tell yourself is they do this evry day usually to older cats so they know what they are doing and are used to it

Thank you both  .
Sorry to hear about your cat-17 is a great age.I know the best thing for my cat's is there health as they are indoor cats, even the vets says that there hearts etc..are that of young cats-so Sam has that going for him.
I have just come home from taking Dd7 to school+i am now crying-i can't help it.When i said bye to him this morning i got upset and was thinking i hope that's not the last time i see him.I can't help it i have had him since he was 8wks old+i don't think it helps because what happened with La-La recently is still heavily in my mind.I thought i was only taking La-La to have an anti-sickness shot and they ended up telling me he had cancer-by the next day he was gone :sad1: , i watched him be born+watched him die :sad1: .
I know it's just a routine op-but it's the anaesthetic that scares me+him being an old boy.He is my best friend-not just my pet.I know it sounds silly but he has been thru everything with me,he will sit and listen to me talk to him, even though he has'nt got a clue what i am saying  .He meows at me when i talk to him,he will meow and walk out the kitchen which means he wants me to sit in the garden with him.He snuggles up on my lap in the evenings after his dinner to watch tv with me,or if i am dis-ing he lays next to me with his paw resting on the laptop. He follows me everywhere. The other 2 cats although i love them to bits could'nt be bothered as long as there fed+watered  and they always stick together+butt Sam out.Sam was always with La-La when he was alive+i believe it hit Sam hard when he realised he was'nt coming back-so has been with me more than ever now.
Oh don't i go on-i will shut up now,so far so good no phonecalls from the vets which means he must be ok.If i don't hear from the vets by 2-30pm(which i hope not)then i have to phone them.x.

Anyway enough of my ranbling....how is Sam? I have been thinking about you both today. Just read your updates, can't believe they made him wait all day.....can he come home yet? xx

**********UPDATE**********
Sorry i never posted earlier, but when i rang back at 5pm-i had to get to the vets by 5-30pm or they would have kept him in overnight+there was no way that was going to happen.
Well my baby boy Sam is home-although not settled. He is very scared+startled by the smallest noise-poor thing. He is very wobbly+his back legs keep giving way on him, also he is very wide eyed-they said this is all normal until the anaesthetic wears off.
He had 2 back teeth removed-one either side-one top+one bottom,a complete clean up+scrape.
BUT-when they took his blood works this morning to make sure his kidneys were ok for him to have anaesthetic-they came back bordeline. He has to go back next Wed for a check up on his teeth+more blood tests-to check his kidneys although they are expecting not to find anything-which to me means -good/ok???.What do you think??.
As some of you know he has a deformed front right leg from his fall, well we made a point of saying please don't put any needles in that leg etc...so they tried in his left and could'nt get anything-they said they tried 3 times. So they had to put it in his bad leg-poor thing-4 times they tried in that one before they got any blood. When i got him home i took the red bandage off (you can see in the picture)and oh my it's swollen+red raw,it's like they have hacked at him. £272 lighter today-but he's worth every penny of it.
Well, thank you everyone for your pixie dust, best wishes+hugs-it worked, and thank you for letting me blub, and waffle on,oh and Sam says a very croaky meow.x.

Hey that's ok,it is very upsetting, some people just don't seem to realise how much our pets mean to us.It worries me when we go to WDW next year-as to what Sam is going to do without me-like i said the other 2 could'nt care less as long as there belly's are full :lmao: .But Sam-i know he will fret.Thank you for your well wishes.x.

Medication as in tablets?.Hopefully the results will show nothing, but if it is something, and he can get some years added on to him by medication then i am all for it.x.
How is Sam today ?
I have had a rough night with him.He has'nt been to sleep or settled,he is'nt stumbling anymore+is not as wide eyed. But it's like he is on red alert, going from one room to the next-not wanting to be on my lap(which is upsetting me)but still wanting you to fuss him.He has eaten 3 bowls of fish since i got him home(only allowed fish or chicken for 4 days)and drank only a little water, but still has'nt been to the toilet???
I don't believe he is in pain with his mouth as he is having no troubles eating.I do believe it's his deformed leg playing him up from where they have used him as a dartboard(they did'nt send him home with any painkillers either :confused3 ).It is really bruised+swollen this morning-poor thing,he keeps constantly licking it.x.

********************UPDATE**********************
Hi Guy's,
Were back. The vet 'expressed' Sam(ouch) :scared: ,which made him wee. There was'nt much there but the vet was happy enough with it.He said that if he has'nt gone again by tomorrow afternoon-he has to go back again as there could be a blockage.I mentioned about not having any painkillers and was told they don't give them out for dental treatment becuase of me having to prise his jaw open to give them to him would cause him more pain than he is probably in.But he did give him another shot of painkillers, which Sam was not happy about :sad2: .
On the way back home in the car, there was an almighty smell  +Sam decided to wet himself :thumbsup2 .So hopefully Sam just needed that bit of help to get him going and will be ok now.
I am so grateful for everyones responses to my Sam,and i know i have'nt answered each of you personally but i really do hope you all know how much i am and have appreciated your concerns+comments-Thank you again      .x.

Well Sam(and me)had a very good nights sleep,we went to bed at 10-30pm+slept through until Emily woke us up at 3-15am wanting to go to the bathroom.Sam got up to have a drink of water while Hubby took Emily downstairs. Then me+Sam went back to sleep till 6-30am,did'nt even hear hubby get up at 4-50am for work.
Sam ate all his brekkie of pilchards,AND at about 11-30am he done a WEE :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2: .(i can't believe i am so happy about a cat having a wee-:lmao: ),but still no number 2 :confused3 :scared: .But at least he is getting there.I think his deformed leg is playing him up today as it's cold. He's laying on the floor having a little nap as i type.I am dreading next Wed when he has to go back  as he's going to have settled down by then.

Deffinatley relieved.x.
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Well done Sam - I think hes on the mend now Michelle, Good luck at the vets on wednesday
I think so too-he is having a lazy day today-he has been asleep for the last 3 hours snuggled up on his catnip cushion.x.
Let us know about the kidney thing, even if the values are a bit high dont worry, some cats have high values(my burmese) for years and it is not a problem, they can get tablets for kidneys as well, I am sure he will be fine, he has recovered so well, when my cats got dentals after they got over the dental they were brand new, They are such a bundle of fur and worry,:flower3:
I will deffinatley let you know.It is worrying me-i can't help it.I keep thinking of looking it up on the net-but i am worried it may frighten/upset me what i read. The vet said it was only just bordeline though.
Also found out today that he had his other bottom fang removed as well :scared: .I rang the vet+they confimed that he did but must have forgotten to tell me :confused3 .So he has no fangs at the bottom+also no teeth that would normally be in between the fangs as these were knocked back into his gums when he had the fall.
No wonder he has been dribbling alot+his tongue keeps poking out  ,he looks so cute.x.

Oh, I am glad he is ok, hes gonna be fine, he will get used to having no teeth and his tongue will be fine, cats t are better than dogs, you see yorkies with tongue hanging out cause they have no teeth, that doesnt seem to happen to cats:cutie:
Keep us posted and you are wise not to look on the net.!!!

*******************UPDATE************************* *****
Hello All...............
Well Sam got his results today+he is fine .The kidney count should be 10 or under.Last week Sam's was 14.Today it was 11 :thumbsup2 .
The vet is'nt to worried that it is not 10 or under, because of Sam's age(15yrs).But he want's to keep an eye on it every 3 months with a blood test,as it could be an indication that a kidney problem could develop. So his next appointment is 3rd Dec.His mouth is healing great-quicker than what was expected the vet said, and he said his coat looks shiny+his eye's look healthy.
So what with my Nan's results+Sam's results i am on :cloud9: right now.
Who wants to have a little boogie with me  :dance3: :yay: :cheer2:  .Thank you so much everyone, thank you    .x.x.x.x.x.x.

I am grateful for any advice you could give me.What the vet said to me-does that sound right to you, being as though you're in the profession?.
My cat's are indoor cat's,as i have always lived in flats, tower blocks. When we moved here to our house 4 yrs ago-they still did'nt bother going out-too used to being indoors.Although Sam does venture to his little patch of grass near the patio-to get the sun.Or he sits on a patio chair whilst i sit on the other. He does'nt bother venturing off-not interested.Although a couple of months ago he thought he was a tough boy when we were in the garden one evening+a fox jumped up onto our shed-he started hissing+all his fur went up(like a dog's)and he was ready to wrestle the fox-until i grabbed him and legged it indoors myself :lmao: .x.

I know as they get older kidney failure is a big worry so its good the vet is going to test Sam every 3 months. The problem is, as happened to my baby they go from being healthy to passing away very quickly. In our Gingers case it was only 3 weeks. I wish we could have had him tested regularly.

Well I was just going to say, but you should go with what your vets says, they know all about your cat,if the cat is fine whats the point of bloods every 3 months? The kidney thing could have been like that for years, some cats dont care re getting bloods done(depends who take the blood!) some hate it, did they mention to look for increased thirst and wt loss, that is a good indicator for kidney probs! I have a lot of experiance and tend not to advocate over testing unless there is something you can actually do re the results.
 I miss my cats, going to try and post a picture, wish I could have the guts to get more but I lost them all in the space of a year and my heart can not take any more pain for the moment.

Thanks for getting back to me,much appreciated.
I don't know if Sam likes the blood being taken or not,as they don't let me stay with him.Although when they bring him out he looks very sorry for himself.Yes they did mention increased thirst+wee'ing more than normal.I may mention after the Dec appointment-depending on the outcome of that,if the blood tests every 3 months are a necessity :confused3 .I thought maybe if something was detected there is medication for that?.
I love the pictures of your pets.My La-La(in my sig)would always drink from the tap+sleep in the sink  .He loved having a bath as well.
I know what your saying about the pain.I lost my La-La(Sam's Son) recently,he was 14yrs+was being sick constant over a weekend,so i took him to get his anti-sickness shot on the Mon(he suffered with his stomach)and they done a scan which showed Liver Cancer :sad2: .He was booked in for the Fri for an exploratory to see if there was anything they could do.But overnight he had taken a bad turn for the worse-i thought he was dying on the Tue morning-so rushed him back, there was nothing they could do+i had him put to sleep in my arms :sad1: .I also worry that mine will all go in a short space of time-because of there ages.I have a family Sam-dad 15yrs,Smudge-mum 15yrs+Max-son 14yrs.I am deffinatley not getting anymore-the pain is so strong in your heart when they go,it feels like your heart is just going to snap. Here is a piccy-back right is Max,front is Smudge,Sam back left......

Michelle, they can give a drug that kinda helps(some vets think) but normally they would go on a drip to flush the kidneys,( a lot of cats hate being on a drip and i would not put mine on a drip for ongoing kidney probs) nothing makes them better(except kidney transplant, thats a whole other argument!) it only keeps them going a bit longer. But the fact is there kidneys could go wonky the minute you leave the surgery after having them check!
The drug is forteker if you want to google it, use only uk site and keep in mind it is normally used for heart probs but side effects helps the kidney, really dont stress about it. Just enjoy your cats, I love the picture, they look so happy, mines used to fight all the time,:flower3:
