October 2009, is going to be the nuclear holocaust of grand gatherings.... The Babe Ruth, the Michael Jordan, the Tiger Woods, nothing will compare...... to quote John Lennon, "Before the 2009 October GG, there was nothing", or was he talking about Elvis.

Despite the rain, we had a blast as usual. Donna is super nice and fit right into our wacky group. I would have saved you a Jello shot Ami, but they liquified rather quickly due to the heat and humidity. And the mosquitos, they were HUGE. We had to keep spraying ourselves...seemed like nothing stopped them. Now if we could get everyone together at one Gathering, that would be awesome!!! That would be hard I guess.

OH, and it was great meeting Rhonda and her DH. They are great people!!! It was great to finally meet her and my son loved her!!!
She is nothing like Roz at all. LOL... She definitely will fit in with us on the "Dark Side".

Looks like a great time Chris...thanks for sharing the pics :thumbsup2

It stinks that it rained so much and the bugs were so bad. This is the first time I've heard people complain about the mosquitos since I've been part of this board. :sad2:

You know....we should try a Fort Fiend RALLY somewhere in Kentucky/Tennessee. It would be cheaper and more people could attend. We could talk about it over on John's board since it wouldn't be a "DIS" event. I'm sure we could find a place that would put us together and allow us to bring our golf carts...

We actually have one in the planning stages right now shannone, Frank and denise, Ami, myself, and I can't remember who else said yes, are talking about meeting in Pigeon Forge between xmas and new years.

There is an awesome campground there, that has sites available, as well as cabins and huge cabins with hot tubs. LOL

Rhonda, I thought for sure Jason was your baby. He really liked you apparently. Babies always know who the good ones are. :rolleyes1

Pete, come on man, crocs, socks, AND a cowboy hat!!!!! How sexy. ;)

Jen, I cannot believed you spilled chex mix. That is like dropping chocolate in my book.

G8trmom, where are the pics of YOU!!! Pretty cowardly hiding behind the camera if you ask me. :lmao: (That's why I am always the one with the camera)

Carol, did you get any pics of G8trmom? Glad your hubby had fun.

Wish I had been there. Maybe next time.

As for PF in Dec. ARE YOU NUTS!!!! It will be cold. How about Branson in the summer??? Or PF in the summer. I love PF and would like to go back, only in the summer. Once I start teaching, I will have all summer to flit and flight wherever I want. The kids and I will both be off and have the whole summer off. Maybe I will spend my summers making my rounds visiting all of you guys at your favorite CGs. :cool2:

Same here. Rick had close to a case of beer Saturday night, I had 3 HUGE Kungalooshes, and who knows how many Jello Shooters. After we dropped by Sunday night and retrieved our forgotten items, we were going to try and stay for some of the EMH at MK, but all we got in was buying a couple pairs of Ears for some friends and rode Carousel of Progress and that was it.

You wanna see alcohol abuse????
First Donnie unscrewed the bottom of the blender and wasted a pitcher of Coladas, and proceeded to drink the one cup he poured for himself before doing so in front of us!!

Poor Donnie, it sure looked like he had the hang of that blender by the last day. At least I didn't see him drop any, though I couldn't vouch for what they tasted like. LOL!

Here's some pictures from 1800 & 1900 loops on Friday, 8/29. The next day it rained and rained and rained all day. (Figures - that was the "Official GG Day" - didn't stop us, though!) The Saturday late night golf cart parade was interrupted by a torrential downpour around 11pm. All the cabins looked like they were set up on tiny little islands due to all the standing water. Gatordad's middle son was collecting tadpoles from the puddles!

I say we all swim across bay lake with all the alcohol in backpacks...carefully dodging the gators....and throw a "survivor party" on discovery island for the Oct09 GG. If we stuff Donnies backpack with rocks and bloody raw chickens...the rest of us should be able to make it across safely!!! On the other hand...he'd probably just drop the bakpack and be the first to reach the island, and keep pushing us back in with a giant skewer!!!

Except for the fact that some boat captains have told us that there are some VERY LARGE snakes that have taken up residence on the island, I'd say that would be fun. Somebody would have to swim across the lake with a shotgun or pistol also :dance3:

He is 65 lbs plenty of diversion, we should use Louie for the swim over and AJ for the swim back. We may swim in a zig zag on the way back and need more time to get across.

You guys are thinking about this all wrong.... We drink lots of alcohol before we head over to the island, then just stagger to the marina, swipe some water sprites and zip on over!!!! That way nobody gets chomped on, and then we have some more to drink, and then play high speed bumper boats. :thumbsup2

Al, as a person who has owned boats most of my life, (me or my family) I still get an uneasy feeling when I see boats in that area above the falls. I can't count the times the boat has just QUIT for no reason. And all I can think of is that the current would be faster than my paddle. LOL

I had a boat with a 350 chevy in it, and it was about 3 months old, I shut it off to put some skiers in the water, and it "dieseled" and sucked the cylinders full of water, if I was there, it would be "over" the falls. :)

Sorry just "ONE" of my irrational fears.

BIL - Jim.

I hate boats.

Jim....I should have guessed that one! I'm not a big fan of boats, either. Our development owns a nice Sun Tracker pontoon that is available to the residents - gratis. We've only used it one time - just to say we did.

However...I did water ski a lot on the Niagara River back in the day - just about the point where your picture was taken. I had no fear back then.

Water sking..I remember those days...I don't think I've done that in a good 17 years at least. The last time I hit the water if felt more like cement  ..and that was the end of it for me. I just didn't bounce the way I used to when I was a kid. Plus likely they'd need a tug boat now to get me up out of the water now! More like towing a tanker into port! My dad was an avid water skier..nothing he liked better than getting up early and hitting the lake while it was still what he would call a "sheet of glass". He would wake the my brothers at 6 am when we were on vacation. (some vacation!) poor guys...they still complain about it to this day.
