Twas the cruise before Christmas :santa:

This will be our first Holiday cruise. We love WDW at Christmas time so we wanted to do a Dis cruise to see what that is like.

We are already thinking about door magnets and FEs. Who else is ready to start the countdown?

:cool1:  :dance3: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2:

Hi there Justthe8ofus, we're on this cruise too. This is our first cruise and I'm so excited to be going during the Christmas season. I hear the Wonder is all decorated and since I love Disney at Christmas time I'm really looking forward to this. There are only three of us. Me, DH and DD. DH and I will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary and DH will be celebrating his actual birthday on the 16th. We'll be staying at the Poly 3 days prior and DH added a day at the GF before that for our anniversary. I can't wait. So much planning to be done. So long to wait.:santa:

Hi Everyone!

Just dropping in to say hi. We booked this cruise today. It will be me, DW and DS(7). We may possibly have 2 other families coming along due to the crazy low fares right now.

This will be our second cruise on DCL. I have been on RCL twice and DW has been on RCL twice and on a Commodore cruise back in the day. Disney is by far our favorite!

We had no intention of booking this cruise but we were looking for a June cruise and ran across this. We have always wanted to do a DCL cruise near Christmas. I hope the ship will be decorated for our cruise.

Anyway, we are looking foward to meeting you all.

Hi Brian. Nice to see someone else is on this cruise. This is our first cruise and since DH and I will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary we thought why not with Disney. We'll be staying at the Polynesian 3 days prior and one day at the Contemporary before that. The ship will be all decked out for the holidays as well as Castaway Cay. I love the parks at this time of year and am really looking forward to this cruise. Hope to see you there.:goodvibes

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the welcome. I have been looking at pictures on the "Picture of the Day" thread for the last couple of hours. It has been about 3 years (I think...need to check the dates) since our Disney cruise. It was my first cruise and we loved it.

The "cast" is what made the cruise so great. They are so friendly. My son was 3 at the time and we had done 4 days land and 3 days sea and it was the last day of the cruise and my son was done! He had a meltdown and the cruise director grabbed him and played and turned the meltdown into a great night for him. They are awesome!

This is going to be the longest 10 months of our lives. We are so ready to be there. I have never done the whole meet and greet thing or decorating the doors and all that but I think we will this time.

Hopefully some more of our cruise mates will get in here soon.

Brian

Hi miztigg,
Oh I am so planning. Have been since I booked April 08. We're staying at the Poly 3 days prior and I already have my ADR's picked. We plan on attending MVMCP and I just love being at the parks at night. :cool1: I'm cruising these boards so I can order the most perfect cake for my 20th Anniversary to be celebrated at the parks and on the cruise. I've collected some cruise door magnet designs and have created a few of my own. The list goes on and on and I'm still working on things. How many more months to go?:woohoo:

How confusing there are three threads for this date. This one seems most active so I'll post here.:confused3 We originally booked for May then decided to change the cruise to December and go to Disneyland in May. I debated posting as we are still open to pushing the cruise back a little further if good promotions come out for WDW during December and we opt to spend all our time in WDW. However, I am SO excited to cruise. My youngest DD4 especially asks me everyday, "when are we going on the Disney boat?" So, I really doubt we will change this sailing date to any later.

I'm especially excited we received "My Cruise Travel Kit" today!!

It will be my husband and I and our two princesses! At the time we sail they will be princess: 9 and princess: 5.

That's a good idea to rebook dummy dates and save for new ships. DH really wants to cruise the new ships. In fact, I think he'd be okay just waiting for them but not me.:goodvibes This will be our first cruise. I am a little worried about the weather though. I saw a thread yesterday where others said they were too cold during December and the water was way top cold to get into.

Hello there pmama and welcome to Mickey's Merry Cruisers. :wave2: The threads can be confusing but they try to organize the cruises for easier meets. You can post your cruise on your own thread and then have Irishcowboy put your thread on the list...or you can just join us here.:thumbsup2 This is our first cruise and I was beginning to think I was all alone. So glad to hear from you and our growing list of Christmas time cruisers. I still don't know where the orignal poster went but I guess we can all take it from here.:goodvibes

Hi everyone!

Great to see this roll call get going. We are so exited and cannot wait until December:banana:

I have a few questions.

What is MVMCP?

I saw where pmama got her Cruise Travel Kit. At what point do you normally receive this? It has been 3 years since we last cruised DCL and I don't remember.

miztigg asked about if we should do Fish Extenders. I have never done this. What kind of stuff do you put in others FE's or get in yours? I am game:)

I saw somewhere on this board where DCL puts the DIS'ers tables near one another in the dining rooms. How does this work?

Looking foward to meeting you all.

Hi Brian, I can answer at least one of these for you. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a hard ticketed event. You get to stay 5 hours after the park closes for parades, fireworks, free cookies and hot chocolate. All kinds of shows and of course ride the rides until your hearts content. It's done on certain nights at Magic Kingdom and is a lot of fun. We atteneded in '04 and plan on going this year.:goodvibes

miztigg
03-01-2009, 12:04 PM
the fish extenders well they hang from the fish outside your stateroom door. and any one who wants to do this get little treats and puts them in there they can be anything from candy to glow sticks for the pirate party. it is always fun to get back to the room and find goodies in your FE:goodvibes . so if 10 people wanna do this you just get 10 small gifts have your list of room #s and i had fun going around putting the stuff in. we also did a magnet exchange one cruise that was really fun:goodvibes
and with MVMCP dont forget you get to see snow on main street:) . i was very lucky the last 2 times i did MVMCP and MNNSHP, i just got my tix in advance (they are cheaper that way) and had no problems. im hoping they have it on thursday night, during the week seems less crowded.
as for sat nite before the cruise i havent decided what im doing if i get there on friday im gonna stay at the nick hotel, my niece is now going and she has never stayed there and sat ill go over and stay at the raddison so i can see the magic go out. I have heard that fish lips is fun so we may do that , thursday we got that 40% off deal so we are headed to the cabins in FW.
shadowryder worked nights last night. im not awake yet:surfweb: later this after noon ill tryand figure out that pic to either put on here or i will send it to you

I have a cute story, my DD4 has been watching videos of the Wonder on youtube. She is so excited. Well, over the weekend she was watching a video someone took of the farewell song. All the characters were lined up on both sides of the stairs. All the sudden she gasps and says, "Captain Hook:scared1: I can't go there." Then she was so said she ran out of the office all the way upstairs to her room crying. It took me about 10 minutes to calm her down. She was so disappointed. I'm still trying to convince her that Captain Hook will be nice.;)

We always drive but this time we're considering the AutoTrain. 5 hours maybe more to Lorton ,VA. Board the train along with our SUV then arrive in Sanford, FL around 9am. I think we'll stay at a local hotel overnight and start fresh the next day. I can't imagine riding and sleeping on a train for 20 some odd hours and going to WDW from there. Yuck.:scared1:

miztigg
03-03-2009, 01:41 PM
I think im gonna take the autotrain too!!! I drive a stick and my mother in law can drive it she just dosent like to so since i dont wanna do all the driving it seems eaiser. we usually fly however my niece is now going to buy 5 round trip plane tix plus rent a car :sad2: its alot. I never took the train last month when we went to disney me and DH drove and the rest of the family flew because we bought our puppy down there and i didnt wanna put her underneath in the cold weather. i did look up the prices and it was 400 something for 5 people including the car.

Adorable picture. I'd love to see more too. We've never cruised before. I wish we lived close enough to drive. That would be a huge money saver.

I ordered some things from disneyoutlet.com the other day specifically for the cruise.

A soft sided rolling cooler!! (I've read the tip about bringing your own drinks onboard in a soft sided cooler.)

Thanks for all the comments on the picture. I will dig up some more to post. I have some great pics of the big white boxes (RCL) but those would not go over well here :rotfl2:

I had never heard of the Auto Train. I just googled it. That is a cool concept but it is non-stop from DC so we will be driving from Raleigh. We always drive when going to PC.

I've been having trouble responding the the thread re: way of traveling to cruise line.

We'll be traveling by air. We booked through Disney at AAA. It's safer with Disney - they'll be responsible getting you there on time.

Can anyone give us ideas about what to do after we get off the airline? We are soooo Confused. Any ideas...........

if you bought the transfurs you go to baggage claim area there are cast members with signs everywhere they will direct you to the buses you will have your ticket in your cruise docs you DO NOT pick up your luggage (just make sure you put you bag tags on at home) disney will deliver them right to your stateroom :goodvibes
i will be doing MVMCP on thurs the day we get off the ship :) . yeah i can book some more plans. anyone else gonna go thursday?

Im not sure why they only have MVMCP listed till that friday? i thought i read christmas day was the hardest one to get:confused3 maybe they will release those dates later?
Im not sure how many days im getting to the parks im not doing a park thursday so the kids (and me) can get a nap Its a early morning and a late night, and we will have that day to ride on the golf cart and see FW all decorated. We will only have sat and sun and im still not sure if we are flying driving or taking the autotrain depends what i get the best deal on. I have not been to epcot in a few years or MGM but with the younger kids not sure how they will like them.

From everything I've heard MVMCP usually stops the week before Christmas. That is because the week of Christmas MK is basically set up the same as MVMCP except for free milk and cookies. They do their Christmas parade during the day and the Christmas fireworks. That's why some say if you will be there during that time it is not worth it to pay the extra for MVMCP. I think the crowd at MVMCP gets heavier as you get closer to Christmas though.

Those of you going to WDW after the cruise are smart. We went to WDW before the cruise and all we did was relax...too tired for cruising the decks, dancing in the lounges etc.
Being a first timer at both - I was too pooped to party on the cruise. Although it felt great relaxing... No work, no phones, no doorbells...:woohoo:

How about getting together for the Sail Off Party. We could meet up with everyone, and get to know one another personally. We're already familiar with each other on the thread.

Do any of you know one another personally? I've met several Disney fans and they are so cool. I felt very comfortable around them. :goodvibes: We're like one big family celebrating the Magic on a Disney cruise. :grouphug: :woohoo:

I am sure we will all meet up somewhere for the sail away. We will probably have to see how big this roll call gets before we can determine where to meet though. I have actually never done the whole meet & greet thing but lurked on one a little before the last cruise we went on. It was fun after seeing peoples pics on the roll call and then to be standing on the ship sailing out of PC and I'm telling DW "look, there's Dave and Jim". She just shakes her head. BTW, Dave and Jim were "life partners" who had been on over 60 :worship: cruises together.

On the one I lurked on they did a "Cabin Crawl" so everyone could get to see the different category cabins. I am in a Cat12 so I don't know that I want to see the plush, giant rooms some will be in. I will covet them the whole time afterwards :rotfl2:

Hi there everyone,
Been away from the threads for a bit but still making plans. DD had school today:scared1: (yes, Saturday) to make up for the ice storm in Dec, so I'm getting caught up now.:surfweb: Are we the only first time cruisers here? A meet sounds like a lot of fun. Are any of you going to decorate your cabin doors? I found some great designs and a no sew Fish Extender on the baords. Also something I ran across this morning if you go to the cruise section of DIS Home you can find your cabin and see how its rated. Some of the reviews are older but it was interesting. We are also planning on going to MVMCP. We went in '06 and had a great time. Will anyone be coming from the World or will it be train, plane or auto directly to the port? Sorry for all the questions but you have a newbie crusier amongst you.:goodvibes

Hi Brian,

We're also a Category 12 - haven't the foggiest idea what it's like. I heard pros and cons being on Deck 2. we won't know til the time comes. We won't find out what stateroom we have until the bitter end - but it is guaranteed. Hopefully we will be upgraded. :rolleyes1:

We were on Deck 6 in '06, stateroom 6094 portside. Very nice, with a veranda and split bath. Able to sit on the veranda and enjoy the sunrise or set and the beautiful water.

Linda, or other first timers, don't hesitate asking questions regarding the cruise. The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. ;)
Feel free to ask , we'll answer the questions.

How can I put a countdown and signature that automatically shows when I post? :confused3

Carol G

Hi Carol,
Simply click on my countdown or anyone elses and it will take you to the site where it is created. You don't have to join just click vacation counter, follow the directions, copy it(Keep the site open) Open the boards go to User CP in the red bar above. Click signature and paste your countdown into the box. Preview it and then save. I believe you can also email it to yourelf. It's that easy. Have fun.:cool1:

So I found out Friday, we are booked for this cruise. I turn 40 on December 16th and have always said that I will be on a Disney cruise and staying in a suite. After 7 disney cruises and never a suite, I figured the b-day would be a good excuse. So Bill booked it for us and DS(11). It's a cat 3 but hey I am finally in a suite, right. Still trying to decide Disney World before of after. Was wondering if it would save money to change it to a land sea? It's looking like a great year.

Just cruisin' the boards and found this thread for my next DCL cruise. I will be cruising with my family - DD - 35, DSIL - 44, DGS - 11 and myself - 63. We have reserved two cat. 12 cabins and will be going to Disney World for 4 days after the cruise. This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. So need this vacation and it should be great at Christmas.

The week-end and St Pattys day in Cleveland, was great. The weather was unbelievable. Now it's cold 37 degrees. brrr. It's colder in my apt than outside. I wish the cruise weren't so far away...I'm getting impatient! :(

 problem ...Gina's having trouble getting her passport because her name is spelled wrong on the copy of her birth certificate. She has to pay again to get a correct copy. Doesn't make sense - she didn't make the mistake, the county did. Now she'll have to pay the extra $$ to expedite her passport. She's hoping we'll make this cruise due to everything that's happening.

miztigg
03-20-2009, 09:40 AM
I dont believe you need a passport for the cruise. It only takes 4 weeks for regular passports you have 8 mts you should have no problem for this cruise I havent even began to get passports for my kids yet. Ill worry about it over the summer if i even get them. The only reason gina would need a passport is if the boat broke down caught fire something that they had to fly you home from a forgien port or she is NOT a us citizen.

Carol G
03-20-2009, 11:27 AM
Rita, I thought you needed a passport if you go on a cruise now! Even if she doesn't need one, she still needs to get her ID corrected to go on the cruise.

no matter what you decide you have plenty of time so no worrying ;) . From what I have been reading, you do not have to have a passport to cruise. If you are in Nassau though, and get hit by one of those crazy taxi drivers, if you do not have a passport you will be stuck with healthcare in the Bahamas. You will not be flying back to the U.S. to get medical treatment.

DW and I have our passports and DS will have his by the time we go. It is a very small price to pay for peace of mind.

If any one has read about menus being changed and still questioning the fact...it's true. The Wonder has changed and the Magic will change the first part of the summer.
If you care to view a sample of the menu go to :surfweb: www.disneycruise.com
Select onboard, click on Dining than select the different restaurants on the Wonder. I doubt the new Magic menu will be posted as the old one still in use.

I think we might be interested in the exchange but don't really want to commit this early as we are still not 100% sure we are sticking w/ this cruise. We most likely will unless WDW or DCL comes out w/ a better offer that appeals to us before the final payment is due.

Hi everyone. Now that I've got PhotoShop up and running again I thought I'd try my hand at a few more designs.

Just thought I'd enhance this one a bit.:goodvibes
http://i481.photobucket.com/albums/rr174/shadowryter/Photoshop%205/MickeysMerryCruisersenhancedcopy-1.png
This background is not mine. It came from a very talented designer named Pat who no longer is on the boards.:sad2: I just added the words for our intinerary.

I came up with this one on the weekend. I think it works. What do you think?

Hope you don't mind me posting these. I made them for all of us to use and if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to here them.

The girls LOVED hannah montana. I came home my husband had our old hot tub all cut up and out to the curb (it was like 15 yrs old) and our bathroom all sanded and all ready to paint (i still havent figured out what he wants yet ;);) )
Camping was good it poured on sat :sad2: but only till noon and no it wasent cold i have heat. we have a 35ft 5th wheel travel trailer. we did however go through alot of propane and firewood. Of course next weekend is suppose to be 70 and i have to work :sad2:.

 It's going to be a beautiful week-end...I'll work and hopefully rent all 5 vacancies! I'll mention how great it is living in a complex next to the park, where they can stroll through the woods, go to the library, sit on the wooden swing and read a book, or just relax and take advantage of the surrounding nature and peacefulness...
I would like to be that person spending this week-end in the park  I can, when my day is over. ;)

:woohoo: Hi Brian, long time no see. Thought you forgot about us. :rotfl:

You're right about Linda being talented...she's doing one fine job on her designs.

Have a great time at the Jimmy Buffet Concert...it's been awhile since I heard about him ~ thought he may have retired. :rolleyes1 I've always enjoyed his music.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I tried multi-quoting, but for some reason it didn't work :confused3 after I corrected it the second time...should have left it alone the first time.

Linda,

Lucky family...going to Mohegan and enjoy Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville. We have one in Toledo and it's so much fun. They have delicious tacos etc. :dance3: It's been years since I've been there, wouldn't mind going again.

I did Christmas Mickey in charcoal & pastels...turned out pretty good, just have to do the last minute touches. Can't get the knack of the Disney letters...

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Rita,

You may want to try booking room & cruise separately ...we found out ('06) we got a better deal. :goodvibes: Check it out :surfweb: or call Disney. Good luck. :woohoo:

thanks carol!!! yes, its libby (i need to get a fancy name like you have in your signature!! how did you do that?)

anyway, it will be me, my husband (chris) my DD mayce who is 4 going on 17, and my baby boy, sully who will be 16months. my parents and step sister will be coming too. im sooo excited!!!!

im thinking about doing the MVMCP.... ive just learned about it here on this thread. i have some questions for those of you who have been before, if thats ok.....do you just pay the $59 (or whatever it is....) for the MVMCP? you dont have to pay the other cost to get into the park, right?

im thinking since we dont leave until late on the 13th, we could do the MVMCP on the 12th, spend the night somewhere near the park and then make our way over to PC to catch the cruise later on the 13th. (sorry, thinking out loud, LOL!)

not sure about the FE (why is it called a fish extender? HA!) im checking it out....

EEK! IM SO EXCITED YALL! :yay::jumping1::yay:

Hi Libby,

Don't feel bad, when I was new to the board I didn't know a darn thing :confused3: If it weren't for several people helping and answering questions I'd still be confused. :rotfl: I am, but that's personal :lmao:

I've done land/sea in '06, was my first Magical experience ~ childhood dream come true. :cloud9: Back to Disney Wonder and excited again. Addicted to DCL

There is a thread on FE's under Disney Cruise Line forum. You'll get a better idea of what they're like rather than me trying to explain it. It's hung on the Fish hook on the wall outside the stateroom door. The cruisers interested in making a FE and joining the group of cruisers participating contact a designated person (miztig) (We may have to pick someone else, not sure if miztig is going to make the cruise) She gives the list of names to everyone and than we're like Santa and stuff the pockets of the FE's.

Please bear in mind, you don't have to make them. It's your decision. When we went on our first cruise I didn't see one nor a door decorated.

I think I explained that correctly. If I'm wrong someone correct me PLEASE
There is also a thread about Door magnets, door decorations.

See you around :waver:

We just sailed on the 3 night Wonder on May 14th...DH booked the Dec. 13th- 4 night while we were on board.:santa:....maybe he'll book a 7 night in December..lol.

I totally slacked off on pre planning for the May cruise...and opted out of the FE...and boy did I catch attitude about it from my husband last week...we passed 3 FEs on the way to our cabins on deck 6 and they were always full...at least now I know I need to step up the creative presentation of our FE gifts...everything pouring out of the pockets looked FESTIVE! pirate cello bags, ribbons!

The Wonder is going into dry dock in October so it should still be nice and fresh for us in December...we had cabins 6604 and 6606 and they were starting to look worn(recessed light in shower slightly hanging down in 6606 and some covered up 'carvings' in the head board and wood around the desk area, mattresses seemed really tired....we have the same cabins in December and we will be able to see how extensive the drydock repairs were. There was a show on the TVs showing the work done on the Magic in drydock so we are very interested in the 'before and after'

Hi Jaklackus & Libby and :welcome:to Mickey's Merry Cruisers. Sorry I've been behind in posting but things have been so crazy. As Carol stated if you have any questions I'm sure you'll find some answers here. That and the others threads, including FE's and cruise magnet designs. btw where do you find t-shirt transfer paper other than online. I looked at our local Office Depot and could not find any. I know there is plenty of time yet but I'd like to experiment a little since I have never done it before. Magnets yes, t-shirts no.

Not sure about the FE yet I'm very busy at work and it is difficult to get out an be creative. I have several scrapbook projects from 2007 summer cruises still not completed. So much to do so little time.

Welcome everyone who is joining us. Can't wait love Disney at Christmas.:santa:

Hello,

My name is Jenn and I'll be on this cruise with my DH and DD (4, turning 5 in Jan). This is our first cruise and we're very excited! I have to say though, I only made it to page 5 of this thread before I started to feel overwhelmed with all there is to know and learn! I had no idea! I thought I was being proactive by starting to research now, but apparently I should have begun sooner. :)

Our plans are to drive down from NJ and stay 1 night in Hilton Head on the way. We were going to spend 2 nights there on the way back, but now that we know about MVMCP, we're considering 2 or 3 days in the park instead. We became DVC members while in Disney in March 09 and are very excited about our future trips to Disney.

When my DH started reading this thread, he said he felt like he was back in the Army again because of all of the acronyms. So please be patient while we try to figure it all out. You all seem like a great group of people and we're looking forward to learning much more!!

:yay: Welcome Aboard Jenn & Family, great having you join Mickey's Merry Cruisers.

I understand how you can feel overwhelmed :scared1: I didn't know what to do in the beginning...as you can see in the beginning. Now I'm a jabberjaw and you can't shut me up. There are times where I feel I'm posting to myself :lmao:

If you have any questions we're here to help you out. I'm still new on the board, but I've learned quite a bit and this is my second cruise. :dance3:
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

I feel like I've known Linda, Dan and Heather for years! :grouphug:

Hi everybody, I just wanted you all to know that my family and I might not be able to cruise with you this December. We've been hit hard with the economy since around February and had been faced with some hard choices. I won't know the whole story until mid August but I would sure appreciate it if you would send some pixie dust our way. We might be needing it. I'll keep you all informed. Thanks so much.

Hi Linda,

 sorry to hear about the bad news! I do hope everything works out for the best. Keep up with the positive thoughts, prayers and Pixiedust.

 This little one will keep a watch over you and make for better days ahead. :woohoo:

I'll be sending plenty of Pixiedust from Ohio and saying many prayers. Things will work out...trust in the Lord. Don't give up.

Hi everyone :wave2:

I've been busy making FE gifts but getting seriously over excited for our whole vacation! We've got 10 days at WDW & Seaworld before we board the Wonder.

We also downgraded our cabins this week to a 12 GTY so hoping the upgrade fairy pays a visit:tinker:

Hope everyone is well xx

Kathryn,

:goodvibes: Beginning to wonder how everyone is coming along. Gina and I made up a couple packages to put in FE's for MMC's that are going. It's rather difficult when you don't know for sure if people have changed their minds about going. I'm glad you and Libby got on the board...Linda and I were beginning to wonder...the board has been so boring

Hop on board more often, :woohoo: we like hearing from you and other MMC's.

Cant believe it's almost July...time is flying. :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1:

Hi Everyone,

Any previous cruisers have ideas regarding where to stay near MCO? We're flying in the day before the cruise, plan on staying at hotel with breakfast and free shuttle to airport...Suggestions? ? ?

I've been looking on the Internet :surfweb: but I would like to get opinions from fellow Disr's :grouphug:

Hi All

I'm new to this site so please bear with me if I get it wrong!!!

We last did this cruise around the same time of year 3years ago and LOVED every minute of it.

There are going to be 11 of us in total this year. Me DH 2DD(13 and the other will be 10 on 15th the day were at cc!!), mum&dad, and bro his DW and DD(17) 2DS(6&2)

We can't wait, didn't know about these sites last time so it's lovely to be able to hear about other peoples excitement and palns this time.

The Christmas decs are fab, and even CC is decorated.:santa:

:santa: Hey everyone, all I can say is "Woohooo!" :yay::yay:

We are so excited to announce that me, my DH, and our 3 DDs (11, 8, 5 (almost 6)) will be joining you all on the Dec. 13th 4 night cruise. In addition to us we have 11 other family members traveling with us. For a total of 9 kids and 8 adults.:cheer2:

This is our first cruise ever, and December cannot get here fast enough. We actually booked our cruise last December and I have done lots of looking around for information but NEVER came across this discussion board, and never thought to even look for a discussion board. I am sooooo excited that we are now a part of it. Wish I would have found it sooner.

There is so much information here and I have to be honest my eyes hurt from trying to read it all. :) But I love it!

When I told my daughters about the discussion board and the other kids that are sailing with us they could not wait for me to get to know some of their parents, so they could possibly get to know some of the kids other than their cousins.

I have so many questions and don't know where to start. I think I will start with the whole door tag thing. Do you have to be a veteran cruiser to have one? Shadowryder, I am totally amazed at the talent of your designs. My husband and I totally want one.

Any tips you can give me regarding the type of clothing we should bring? I know it doesn't really get cold where we are going, but I just am not sure about what to bring. We are from Texas and it is never cold here, but when it is in the 60's we usually break out a light jacket cause that's a lot cooler than 102. ;)

Oh and like Carol, we would love any suggestions on where to stay the night before as well.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Melissa

Hi Carol & Melissa

It was lovely to receive your reply.

I'm sorry I cannot offer any advise on were to stay the night before the cruise. We are renting a villa in Davenport as we arrive in Orlando on the 9th so we will just be driving to the port on 13th the back to the villa until 30th.

As for clothes Melissa your weather is obviously very different to ours!!!! - it's summer here in the UK at the moment at its about 55' and raining cats & dogs!!!:cool2:

The weather on the cruise last time was around 80'. It was quite windy at Nassu, cloudy but very humid at CC and very hot on the day at sea:cool1:

As for what to wear lastime I didnt have a clue so I took suitcases&suitcases of clothes and hardly worn any of them!!! - Usually it was just vest tops and shorts for the day, then evening was as casual or as dressy as you want it to be!

We would love to do the FE this time with all our family (11 in total) so let me know what you girls think???

Really look forward to your reply

Hi Melissa,

Welcome to the Disboard and glad to have you join us. 102 degrees? that's devil weather for us Northern folks! :lmao:

Important...pack light. You don't need formal wear ~ 4 night cruise is very casual unless you're dining at palo...nicely dressed not formal attire. Check out the boards to give you ideas. Send me a PM, I'll be more than happy to give you more info ;)

We're staying at Travelodge Inn and Suites Orlando Airport. Reasonable price with plenty Hotel services and amenities

With that said, I too will be leaving this thread. With the extended offering of free dining we've decided to switch to the 3-day cruise on the 17th. (So keep good care of the Wonder for me as we'll be getting on the same day you all disembark.) Switching to the 3-day will allow us more days in Disney before the cruise, more free dining, and less crowds. I will for sure miss the extra day at sea though.

Happy Merry Cruising everyone!:santa:

Hi Paula

We fly on the 3rd December and fly home on the 17th - to and from Manchester. We'be got 10 days in the parks before we hit the bahamas to relax. :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Mum retires from work on the 2nd so it's her retirement celebration  There's 4 of us all together across 2 cabin - mum, dad in one and me and my little bro in the other.

I prob got a bit confused about the FE - I wasn't sure we'd started organising it yet but when I think about it Carol's got all of our info. We've started gathering bits and bobs but it'll be good to get numbers etc so we know what we're doing.

Garreth (little Bro) and I have cruised with Disney before but although mum & dad are seasoned P&O cruisers they've never sailed with the mouse.

I don't think there were many if any brits on our last cruise either - we met a lot of Americans who were lovely tho.

I'm so excited to be going back and i know it'll be here before we know it and hopefully the $$ will continue to creep up so there'll be more money to spend on the essentials :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Hi Kathryn

Oh what a lovely retirement for your mum, I bet she cant wait??:banana:

Were cruising this time as a celebration for my mum & dads ruby wedding, and it will also be my DD 10th birthday on 15th December the day we are at CC!! - im looking for suggestions as to how to make her special day seem a special day for her as I don't want her to feel as though the day has come and gone with just the excitement of CC. Don't get me wrong I'd be jumping for joy if I had my birthday at CC :cheer2::cheer2:but she is only a child so I don't think they look at things in quite the same way as we do!!:laughing:

There are going to be 11 of us in total, me, DH, DD(13) DD(10) Mum&Dad and my bro, his wife and there DD(17), DS(6), & DS(2)

How do your mum&dad feel about sailing with the mouse??

We would love to do the FE, not entirely sure how they work as we didn't no anything about them the last disney cruise we did or how we go about getting our name on the list:confused:, I would be really grateful if you had any info on this:hug: - I did have a e-mail message from a nice lady called Carol who said she thought somebody called (think is was something like Matizz but cant quite remember!!) was organising FE, I did send her a message but as of yet I havn't had any reply, although maybe there on holiday:confused::confused: - but then again iv'e probabbly done it all wrong as i'm not very good at all this forum stuff as i'm new to it all so am probably making myself look very silly by doing it all wrong:sad2::sad2:

My DD's have been shopping today for there pirates outfits so thats another thing off the list:laughing::laughing:

Look forward to speaking to you again soon:thumbsup2

 Oh my goodness, has this board gone haywire since I"ve been off. :lmao: Just joking my friends. I do apologize for not being around ~ quite busy with work and haven't had time to read up on everyone joining and wanting to know info etc about FE's

Rita (Miztigg) is very busy. She's taking care of the list of names etc for the FE. I'll try to contact her and see how she is and if anything has changed. It looks like there's going to be quite a list. I have no clue as what to do, since this is my first experience regarding FE's.

But I do know how to do a lousy job of putting one together. :lmao: What can I say - it's my first one and I'm not used to the new fandango "no sew" materials. Let me have the old fashioned sewing machine, where the stitches keep it together like it's supposed to. ;)

We're going to have a good time...have to figure out names, ages and how many are joining the FE list. More info to follow...I hope :rolleyes1

hi im debra i would love to do the fe how do we join in on the fun i already have ideas for our fe already picking up gifts so what do i do we're ready please help us

Hi Debra, (or would you prefer to be called Deb or Debbie?)

Welcome aboard. :welcome: Gosh, I started picking up gifts for FE's than I realized, "Wait a minute, I don't know how many kids, boys/girls, ages, adults, male/females-I must be crazy"
So we bought enough to start, than stopped til we get a full list, and if we're going to split into groups. It would be senseless to buy/make gifts for everyone. Something to think about

I hope I can keep everyones name straight...I've already made a mistake and there weren't that many to answer to...I was a blonde as a baby - what can I say. Please, I don't mean any offense to the blondes out there :grouphug:

Check out the other sites on Disboards re: FE's, items to put in them, how to make them etc. You can get Disney patches at Holly Lobby, Pat Catan's, Michaels, and on line. K Mart has a large choice of Disney fabrics and so does Holly Lobby.

Any questions, ask here or on other threads on the Cruise disboards. We're more than happy to help you out....:thumbsup2

Hi Carol

That's what you get for being busy:laughing::laughing: - only joking:laughing::laughing:

I'm notsure if I gave you our details (i'm definately not blonde so notsure what my excuse is!!) but we would love to be part of the FE 2:banana:

I'm more than happy to help with lists etc if anyone needs any help, although I havn't got a clue what i'm doing

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Paula:love::eek: Oh my goodness, has this board gone haywire since I"ve been off.

Later and  hugs to all. :santa:

:mic: Okay folks, latest update regarding FE list. Rita (Miztigg) will not be joining us on the cruise and  has told me to take over. :rotfl2: I may repeat information to make sure I have everyones names etc correct ~ so please bear with me. :)

Please PM or email me with your name, sex, number of cruisers, ages under 18and staterm number. If you're unable to PM me due to number of posts let me know and I'll contact you. (hopefully :thumbsup2 )
Any questions... I believe this is step one making the FE list ! ! ! :rolleyes1

Anyone familiar with this I'd appreciate suggestions... :worship:

Hope to hear from you soon,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

I'm starting the FE list and noticed you have other families joining you. Could you please have them contact me re: how many are in which family & childrens ages/sex - (determines what type of gifts) :surfweb:

Sure appreciate it... :goodvibes

PS If this applies to anyone else could you notify the others also - ya' gotta remember this is the first time for me, although it's my second cruise. :confused3 Had no idea about the Disboards on my first cruise, but definitly looking forward to this one :dance3: :woohoo: :grouphug:

Looking forward to adding MMC's names on FE list.

:yay: :woohoo: ;) :goodvibes

Hi everyone and welcome to all the new people on board.

Sorry I have not posted in quite a while. Life has been hectic. We moved from NC to LA and have opened a new business so we have been a little busy but that's no excuse.

Well, just over 4 months to go and we cannot wait.

Back into hibernation:rolleyes1,

So I found out Friday, we are booked for this cruise. I turn 40 on December 16th and have always said that I will be on a Disney cruise and staying in a suite. After 7 disney cruises and never a suite, I figured the b-day would be a good excuse. So Bill booked it for us and DS(11). It's a cat 3 but hey I am finally in a suite, right. Still trying to decide Disney World before of after. Was wondering if it would save money to change it to a land sea? It's looking like a great year.

Hi there Tde1969, Summer is passing by so fast and Sept is right around the corner, just about that time to start making ressies for excursions :woohoo: and filling out paperwork online for the cruise.

Wanted to know if you were going to participate in the FE list. If so, please contact me with your suite # you've already given the rest of the info. :santa:

We're having a party................. :dance3: :woohoo: :grouphug:

After being highly harrassed by my husband, Brian (bwkwpw), to join the message board I've finally succombed to his pressure. :) I'm glad that I did - this seems like a great board. I look forward to getting to know you all and having a blast on our 2nd DCL vacation.

Hi Kimmi, will you, Brian and DS be participating in the FE list? Since Rita is unable to join us, I'm taking her place getting the FE info together. :rolleyes1 Would you please let me know your stateroom # if you plan on joining us.

Thanks so much. :santa:

Hi All of "MMC":santa:

My DD is loving making door magnets for our "MMC":banana:

I've told her she had got to stop making them for our cabin door as it's going to fall of it's hinges with all of the weight as she's made so many of them:laughing::laughing:

Just wondered if anyone would like one doing for there door?:cutie:

Can't believe at 12yr old knows more about PC's than I do because I havn't got a clue how she does them:laughing::laughing:

HI Brian,

Glad to hear you're joining us. We're figuring it out now...contacting those that haven't let us know etc. As of now the count is 45, not including everyone. We still have several to contact. If you or anyone else has ideas we would appreciate them.

Since there are several large groups I'm thinking about making two lists. Much easier on everyone...especially those traveling by air (Weight charge)

Paula is taking care of the list for large groups and
Kathryn for small groups.
I'm contacting those that haven't stated if they're participating and answering any questions... :rolleyes1: First time making this list and already I'm a pro. :lmao: what a joke ! ! !

Carol,

What kind of ideas are you looking for?

When you say 45 people, that is individuals and not families right? That would be a whole lotta trinkets if you do one for each individual person. Is that what you do? I have a feeling this roll call will explode at about 60 days out from what I have seen on other roll calls and that number is going to get huge :scared1:.

Is anyone here an experienced FE'er? How does this work?

Brian

Hi Paula - I would love a couple my kids will think that is so cool. I would let my daughter help me but The fact that I am totally suprising them with the whole trip makes it a little difficult. Katie:cool2:
